Which would you choose?

Hi all…another post I prepared in advance, thankfully I had the gumption to think ahead as my brain has turned to mush lately:) I think the most exhausting part of the move is over and I am pacing myself and taking it slow, thanks so much for all of your kind comments, emails and messages! Its great to be home!! (and yes to many of you who asked I do have help, thanks)!

Well hello there! By now you know the drill…I set up a little scenario and you get to ponder and think about which one room you would most love to be in and would suit you best. Remember how everyone moved out to the patio from “that party” to carry the party outdoors? Well, its in full swing and there is no end in sight! In fact all those inside have decided to join you. Its a beautiful night under a clear moonlit sky but its getting nippy so your darling hubby suggests lighting a fire in the outdoor fireplace and roasting marshmallows….what a guy!! So…..you know what to do, pick your outdoor fireplace seating room! This is not an easy feat as there are so many lovlies here, good luck. Can’t wait to see what you choose. I have my eye on two, and will be happy as a smores to be in either one of them!
Here we go….

PART 1-  (written a few days ago very early am)

Hello…..wow I must admit I had a few moments (or hours) not long ago when I started to think I might never get my energy back or enough time to put together a post I could be proud of. But alas here I am. Now lest you be thinking that I am so together, so organized that I am already back to my blogging schedule translates to endless hours of being footloose and fancy free on my comp . I feel obliged to tell you you are wrong. Way wrong. For here I sit in my small but cozy office  which at the moment, is a complete and utter mess amidst heaps of bags, boxes, books, pictures, torn out pages from design mags, fabric and paper swatches,etc….. But we all know you need to know when to listen to your body and when its time to put everything down, and just take a deep breath and do something for yourself. Hence my being here right now. Trust me, me writing this post has as much to do with my being near done unpacking and ‘setting up shop” as going au natural is for Joan Rivers. (sorry Joan but you are an easy target). So here’s the lowdown…..

I am beyond thrilled to finally be home. Just ecstatic. My favorite times of the day are when I get up around 5:30 up until 7:30 when the chaos starts raging, that means driving my son to school and the workers that are still working here (less every day) start knocking on the door. I dream about when the end of the day comes, and when I can really enjoy the house to myself again but truth be told by that time, I am wiped and utterly exhausted beyond description and I have been going into bed at the ungodly hour of 8:30! By that time I truly have expired. Moving is seriously exhausting in more ways than one.

About 30% of the house is still being worked on so the kitchen, the breakfast room and family room and bedrooms are only rooms bearing any semblance of being “done” (and when I say done I mean a room having a few chairs to sit on or the beds). We have moved some of our previous furniture into the house which looks pretty good, but for the family room we have ordered new furniture, bedding is on order for bedrooms, wall to wall for  master backordered,  etc……mind you this is all in a temporary state and excuse the mess but anyone who has moved knows what its like! So enough talking, come have a look……..

Beautiful new chandelier for vestibule off foyer

Don’t pay attention to our Chicken pox walls, this is the last area still to be painted

Chandeliers in living room hung!
Love them…..

Love this antique Chinese bowl
Love my little french men fruit bowl, looks great in this kitchen
Breakfast room
Close up…..
Slowly slowly, paper is coming off the stair railing!
Love starting to find a place for my little treasures
Forgot how much blue and white I have!

And some more…..

And more…….
Yep I think this is a good start!

And we are starting to unpack my crystal, silver and china for the pantry

A work in progress………

Love the breakfast room on a sunny morning, and of course a cozy rainy morning and forget the snow….it was so beautiful!

Love a pop of yellow against the white and black in the kitchen

That big bowl over to the right is an antique Chinese bowl, its huge 2 1/2 feet wide and so beautiful…..was thinking it would be beautiful to fill with orchids. The beautiful tulips someone dropped off yesterday
Missed my crystal

And all the little pretties……

Temp display of blue and whites, will have to “play”

For now putting my pillows on the sofa…the colors work

PART 2- Update as of 2 days ago, who was I kidding? As soon as I took a deep breath 5 days later I actually was foolish enough to start thinking, except for that first day or two, this really wasn’t that bad. Then.………(jaws music here), the second round arrived yesterday! Oh boy, I had forgotten just how much I really had. How much had been stored away. It was such an exhausting day that by days end I literally could not walk, it was bad. My feet fell like they were literally detaching from my body and I was spent. The only bright side was the  opening up of some of my boxes revealed forgotten about goodies, like all my blue and white, and some beautiful collectibles that I love even more now that they are in their final resting place. So bear in mind this is a major work in progress and will be for a long, long time but below are some more recent highlights……..

Coming back from other house to find a newly arrived orchid from a friend was a sight for sore eyes!
A pretty pair of French chairs hubby bought at auction will probably eventually end up in living room
More boxes………

My beautiful painted chest we bought in France for my bedroom
Bedroom with my old furniture, got the new chandelier up!

Beautiful french desk…we have to figure out where we are going to put it
Seating area in family room

Looking into breakfast room
Full view of the room…….
Another shot
Love the night time lighting…..
Just realized the Charmin kind of detracts…oops!

A beautiful French chest in guest room
Art waiting to be hung, they might be waiting a while!
More boxes!!!!!
Our lone pair of Winterthur chairs needs a home! These are very special chairs and one day I might just do a post on these chairs.
Only furniture in living room so far, our pair of two French chests from our previous house
Close up….sorry for the grainy pictures
Photo quality not so great…..blame it on the iPhone and my lame photography skills
So folks, that’s a brief recap on whats been happening over here this last week. Its been one helluva week, my calf muscles, feet and back are so sore. Today I think I am going to christen my bathtub with a long soak. Fun, exciting, exhilarating, titillating, and exhausting all rolled into one is how I would describe moving. But make no mistake, it is great to be home at last!!!!!!!! Will be back when I can, wishing you a wonderful Sunday!

Enchanted guest #16….say hi to Beth and Kristy of Design Chic!

Good morning everyone! Hard to believe my incredible array of guest posts is coming to an end, I cannot thank each of you enough for your help in helping filling in the gaps for me on my blog with your incredibe guest posts while we were moving. I am so appreciative and am so humbled by your kindness. I finish off my amazing run of guest posts which I really hope you have enjoyed with last but most certainly not least, Design Chic.  I am so happy to feature these two ladies whose style I absolutely adore and who are some of the sweetest people in all of blogland. Say hello to Kristy and Beth of the uber chic and elegant design blog, Design Chic. Sophisticated, elegant, and chic is how I would describe their beautiful and graceful style.

I love how they can take a design element and show the best of how it can look, they have more than once converted me to totally loving something I wasn’t sure how to use or cemented my love and undying devotion for things like the use of leopard, blue and white and ottomans, paneled libraries and the list goes on. I also love how they successfully incorporate a little bit of fashion with decor on their blog, which makes for an interesting mix and their spin is always a supremely elegant one!

This  mother and daughter dynamic duo are super stylish and Design Chic is a regular stop for me. I am talking seriously stylish people. I know I am always in for a visual treat for the senses when I visit Design Chic and if you are not familiar with them, I highly suggest you visit!

You know when I am talking about people who are stylish and chic, I absolutely must give you a little peek into their the world through their eyes!  Just feast your eyes on their ridiculously elegant homes, including Baby Will’s (Kristy’s baby) dream nursery! Just to give you an idea of how elegant they are, here is a little peek into how these girls roll……….

Impressive, wouldn’t you say? Now ladies….the floor is yours!

When Tina asked us, Beth and Kristy of Design Chic, to do a guest post for her, we were incredibly flattered. So, when choosing the topic, we thought, “What could we showcase that Tina would love?” The answer was obvious. Blue and white porcelain, of course! Here is a compilation of some of our favorite uses of a design staple. They may have been chosen with Tina in mind, but we hope you all love them too!

Lori Tippins Interiors

The juxtaposition of the more masculine antlers and leather chairs with delicate porcelain is wonderful!

Oscar de la Renta’s Dominican Republic Home

The huge jars over the bookcases are what caught our eye first, but we love the lamps as well. In fact, we wouldn’t mind if Oscar wanted to hand over his whole Dominican Republic House. We really wouldn’t change a thing!

Peters and Mbiango Interiors

The kitchen is perhaps one of our favorite places for blue and white. We love the sets of ginger jars. My mother-in-law gave my husband and me a set just like the one in the middle. The sweet pea vines symbolize “forever” and “many children,” while the main decoration is a “shuang xi” character which is the symbol for “wedded bliss.” What a great way to think outside the registry!

Veranda Magazine

What a statement! We have to admit, though, we might be a touch nervous sleeping underneath all those breakable items…

Tobi Fairley

There’s nothing that defines a room a well-accessorized table. The orchids are gorgeous.

Veranda Magazine

We attended a wedding recently where all the flower arrangements were done in blue and white ginger jars. With white flowers like this, the effect was simply lovely. Hmmm, with all the sweet pea vines they had floating around, we guess they’re going to have many, many, many children!

Bunny Williams

The mantle is one of our favorite places for porcelain. The symmetry is perfection!

Peter Marino Interiors

This could be the most fabulous collection we’ve ever seen!

Joe Minton Designer

There’s nothing like a huge, white hydrangea to complement an antique vase. It’s a beautiful touch in any room.

Thanks so much for having us on your fabulous blog, Tina!

Thanks ladies! You know me so well. I LOVE blue and white, there is not a home or room that I don’t think it can totally rock in. This post was such a scrumptious treat…many thanks for featuring such a beautiful post, Beth and Kristy. And to all of you for stopping in thank you! Like what you see? Make sure to stop by Design Chic for even more beautiful eye candy, warning……it might keep you busy awhile! Click here to visit. Wishing everyone a wonderful Saturday!

Enchanted guest #15……say hi to Mona and Talena from Providence!

Good morning everyone! I am over the moon to present this guest post  with one of my absolute favorite blogs and two of my favorite bloggers, Mona and “Sister” (her real name is Talena but shes affectionately referred to as Sister) from Providence. Where to begin? Well for starters, they are business partners and sisters in their design firm and plain and simple  have superb taste with a capital S. This talented pair of established and sought after designers, Mona and Sister love traditional design with a European influence. They have published work of a high caliber and when you see their work you will totally understand. They reside and practice in central Arkansas but in addition to their interior design business they also offer online design services as well, if you are interested in taking a look at their portfolio, click here. It’s a royal treat!

I know when I visit their blog I should sit down prepared to take in whatever beauty they have in store that day, but rest assured its always something fabulous! They often generously share their projects on their blog and its always one worth checking out, I just love their asthetic. I was so happy they prepared a guest post to help me out as we continue to settle into the new house but when I laid eyes on what they prepared, I was truly floored, touched and so bowled over! Mona and Sister, thank you so much for this fabulous, major eye candy of a post! For those of you not familiar with the beautiful blog, Providence…you absolutely must stop over, you will thank me! Click here to visit  them.

And you just know there is no way in the world that I am letting them get started without  “showing off” a little on their behalf. Hey, if you’ve got it, flaunt it. And these delightful ladies “have it going on” big time. So here is a look at the marvelous Mona and Sister in action!

Mona in action……
And there the two are…..I just had to include this picture, I love it!

We have never met Tina…yet feel like we know her.
She puts so much of herself into her blog. We would all probably be shocked to realize the number of hours she has spent preparing posts and visiting friends…and at the same time she has also been able to create and build one of the most magnificent homes many of us have ever seen…that tells us a lot about her.
She’s determined, yet warm and caring. She is meticulous when it comes to detail.. .. a traditionalist at heart but loves glamour. She is well traveled….prefers a classic elegant style. She’s very feminine, loyal to her friends and has a good sense of humor. …
We imagine her as a girlie girl with a lot of spunk and a definite personal style…

She’s meticulously planned every single corner of her new home…it’s very formal, but still warm. She’s created not just a home but a lifestyle for her family and friends to enjoy

We can only imagine, BUT, when we do … we see her home filled with…
Beautiful fresh flowers everywhere…

Fabulous Mirrors…

The very best in  furnishings…

Fabulous antiques and crusty old chairs….

Bookshelves filled with interesting antique leather books…

Well worn textiles and tapestries…

Candles Burning…

Old Brass and gorgeous gold gilt…

Vintage silver and beautiful china…

Everything personalized and a family crest…

We hope she adds a little whimsy and unexpected… like this fabulous oversized frame…

or beautiful mirror hung on the bookshelves…

There will be lots of parties..both inside and out…

Tina must have a wonderful space for her long hours at the computer where she dazzles us all with the details, and shares her heart and resources with many.

So here’s to you Tina…May you, your family, and friends enjoy lots of  love and laughter,
delicious meals and deep conversation,
joy and tears that go with both the good times and bad….all those things that give meaning to our lives, in your wonderful new home.

If my house looks even 1/20th like you are imagining, I will be tickled pink. Where to begin….the flowers, the monogrammed everything, tapestries, gorgeous furnishings mirrors….yes yes and yes!!! You sure picked up on some of my favorite things. Love your magnificent eye and refined style. You must visit Mona and Sister over at Providence (click here to visit) ….and thank you ladies for this wonderful post that will remain a treasure to me. Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Hello Everyone! It’s Debby from Inspired Design. I’m thrilled to be guest posting for the very sweet Tina while she’s in the middle of her big move. Isn’t her new home a complete dream?

I love Tina’s series: Which Would You Choose? So, that is exactly what I’ve decided to do!
I have to admit that I get a little stressed choosing sometimes because she always provides so much eye candy to go along with each post in the series.
So, with that said… Which alfresco setting would you choose to dine with loved ones?
