Parts of this were written a few days ago and I added/updated this morning.

Good morning friends………..

OMG, WHY DIDNT’ YOU WARN ME?&%###!!!!!! I am EXHAUSTED after yesterday being my fourth full day of packing…….CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!!!!! I am taking a break and its only 7am! Seriously this is exhausting stuff, I mean really I am not that old, geez…..in my 40’s, I thought that’s supposed to be considered…. dare I say, young! Then why am I sooooooooo tired! OK, deep breaths, I told myself I will work until midday,  take a one hour break to futz around on the comp, have lunch, coffee then get back to work. So heres the latest…..

When it rains it pours, right? Literally and figuratively. My husband has been sick, not the regressing little boy who needs attention and wants to pretend he is sick that all men become at the first sniffle….I am talking coughing, more congested than the Midtown tunnel at rush hour, and feeling really lousy. And it was pouring cats and dogs big time on Thursday (original intended day of moving). POURING. So…I am just rolling with the punches as they say, island marble got delivered in the pouring monsoon rain today…big giant monstrous deep breaths being held until that 13 footer got put in its place.

It practically took a village to carry that behemoth in, I didn’t want to be there and left! BUT boy was it worth the wait. Pure love. Yesterday, first small batch of furniture got moved in….yippee!! Another round of heavy cleaning yesterday and part of today and more furniture getting moved in later this afternoon. The point is we are here, we are on the cusp of being home at last. At this point I am pouring myself  another cup of coffee and saying “its all good”, going with it, ya know? The good news and silver lining you ask? Well let me tell you…….

See exhibit A, the mounting extra large black garbage bags filled to the brim of what I have no idea, so much junk, excess, baloney, stuff that was taking up cubic feet and air. Why? Good question! But its goodbye and good riddens, so happy to get rid of the stuff that was lurking. There are boxes and boxes and bags and bags of everything all over the place…its almost suffocating! I have tables and tables of plants, and accessories and such all over, it looks like a warehouse or a place closing up shop….which in a way it is. Jealous? I didn’t think so! I do however have a very hard time for whatever reason getting rid of my shoes and my bags. Anyone with me?

And the pack up begins……..
Boxes and bags everywhere……..
Finding a long lost pair of cute flats that happen to work amazingly with my favorite camel bag was super exciting
Everything had to be thrown, literally into one big closet since all the others are being painted

Shoes and bags everywhere!
More bags…….
Starting to get sorted and packed
Tons of accessories all laid out, deciding what to keep and what goes….
Yay, its finally all getting put into boxes!!

Exhibit B. is a little more interesting and depressing. First, you see I thought my niece left her Barbie’s clothes at my house then I realized at second glance they were my clothes from clearly another life. All of these got neatly folded packed up and put into a number of bags to be given and dropped off to people who will actually be able to use them. I know I will never be wearing that size 4 silver lame party dress dress ever again:(

Exhibit C. is my absolute favorite because its my “pot at the end of the rainbow”, when I come up for air,  that is what I have to look forward to and I can hardly wait. I just keep channeling deep thoughts about what lies ahead and keep repeating to myself “just follow the yellow brick road” (in this case the road from house A. to house B, the new house) and that is what I am doing, mustering all that positive energy towards my light at the end of the tunnel…….

My beloved stove
My gorgeous floors in the kitchen

Finished floors in living room……..
And dining……
My beautiful bathroom!
Hubby’s gorgeous bathroom…..all done! (except for window treament and knobs)
The first pieces that got delivered for the guest room…a beautiful pair of French nightstands

Guest bath all done……put the shades on the sconces

This is the hardware, just waiting for rest to come in!

Both sonces in husbands bath..its a love for me!

OK this is where I need to hear some opinions..this is a beautiful chest from the Newport collection from EJ Victor that we were considering using as a vanity for powder room, I think its beautiful but somehow I am feeling a darker simpler wood piece, thoughts? (You know I love to hear from you)!!

Back/kitchen powder room done (except for wallpaper and mirror)

Oldest sons bath

Oldest sons bedroom getting put in…..he likes a more modern feel and this came from his apt. in NYC, he is in the process of moving to new apt. so will be home for a few months

My chandy got put into the dressing room! Love it..the shades add a lot. Do not pay attention to the “countertop”its a temporary until I decide what to do.

Bath faucet finally got installed!
Completed tub….ready for a bubble bath, waiting for my rock crystal sconces which are backordered until February…worth the wait though!
They will go in that little black spot on the wall, and between them will be mirror

Husbands vanity, except knobs..coming in next week

So there you have it, the before, the during and whats to come in the after. I am really liking the after!
And finally when I do take my much needed coffee breaks (and they are happening often, plus its a great excuse to escape to blogland), I feel like a queen (didn’t say I look like one) when I drink out of this wonderful mug….a good friend gave it to me for my birthday and its become my absolute favorite! Isn’t it great?

I will be back in touch again sometime next week with updates in between my awesome guest posts coming your way soon. Enjoy your day!

MOST RECENT MOVING UPDATE…..we will continue “the big clean up’ until Monday, then finish up odds and ends being done on Tues. and start REALLY moving on Wed, Thurs. and Friday.
So fingers crossed we will be “home” at last on one of those nights! Will keep you posted.

Back to work, wishing you a wonderful and relaxing Sunday….XO Tina

I AM SMILING SO WIDE that my face is starting to HURT!!!!!!!!! I AM BEYOND HAPPY FOR YOU DEAREST! Look at your DRESSING AREA! SHEESH! You have the perfect setting. Dear one, you are a QUEEN! WOWOOOOOW….yes. Packing is a chore, but just think you will soon be IN COOKING UP A STORM ON THAT STOVE! Are you giggling? Are you sleeping? And to have your dear son at HOME. Ahhhhh….I cannot believe it. You have finally made it to the end. I am thinking of you and PLEASE LET ME KNOW when you are ready for a party. I will be more than happy to provide a PARTY to link my followers to your castle. This is too wonderful!

OK, back to work! Anita

Love your home! so excited to see the finished project. I am kinda new to your blog. Will you show us one day “YOU” = maybe a picture? Maybe you have and I have just missed that post. Good luck with the move.

Oh Tina, I feel for you. I moved (downsized) about a year ago. I said I will never ever move again. In downsizing, I wondered what was on my mind when I purchased all this “junk”. But then again, I found things I purchased years ago and they are like getting presents. I had a new love for them. While I have moved 8+ times in my lifetime, I always say that this is the “last time” until the next time, of course. Hang in there!! Your dream home is very nearly there and it will be amazing. Like child birth, the pain will disappear with only this wonderful result to be proud of.

Re Chest for powder room. I think it is absolutely perfect for the room. Looks great with the flooring. It’s a keeper!!

“Stay Calm & Carry On”

My mouth is wide open. The beauty and perfection of your home is amazing. I have seen many pretty homes in my day but let me say this is by far simply the most beautiful work of art!! You have done a beyond outstanding job. I hope you give yourself a big big pat on the back for this, every single room is just beyond! So excited for you to soon call this home.
Just think all the “decluttering” you are doing will pay off in spades when you move, settle in, organize, you will be starting with much less “stuff” and will be ahead of the game. I must send this to all my home obsesssed friends who I know will enjoy drooling over the beauty as I have. Stay calm and best of luck in the next week or two as you settle in, look forward to your next update!

Seriously, I’m in love with your new place! Btw I was wondering when you moved if you did it by yourselves or if you had an industrial moving company come and do it for you? It seems like you are very organized and so moving would be very efficient. -Vancouver

I was actually pinching myself as I was looking at those photos. It is all coming together so stunningly. Believe me, I do not envy the process from now until the actual soaking in the lovely tub….
I do hope the the man of the house is feeling better, and wish you well during these next few days my friend.

Your home is stunning (do you get tired of hearing that?) I can’t wait to see it in all its glory, furnished with your things!!

I don’t envy you with the packing and moving. When we relocated from Chicago to Texas a couple of years back, my company paid for the packing and moving, and it spoiled me – I went to work one day, and when I got home, everything was packed and ready to go (my husband stayed home and “supervised”). I swore that if I ever moved again, that’s the way to go πŸ™‚

After drooling all over my keyboard I can not come up with the words to describe how beautiful everything is. I love the kitchen but am in awe of the bathrooms! I would be taking my moving breaks in any one of them; (well, maybe not if there are moving people in and out of the house but as soon as I could lock the front door!)
No matter how well you plan, some extra items get moved that you ask yourself, why did I bother. As long as you don’t find yourself saying too often “I wish I had kept…”
but good intentions make up for any inconvenience of that.

What a treat seeing all the lovely updates! I feel your moving pain… Stuff, stuff , stuff! I have to put my 2 cents in about the vanity… I say pass . It is beautiful but too dark/ busy for me. Those floors are magnificent , the vanity needs to co star πŸ™‚

Oh, Tina- I could just cry- You are almost home after living in limbo all this time. EVERYTHING looks gorgeous. I like the vanity that you have picked out and the crossed flower design mimics the design in the floor. Only you know whether you will get tired of looking at it after a while. It is “busier” than most of your choices. Whatever you decide, it will be beautiful.

Rest as much as you can so that YOU aren’t sick from exhaustion when you actually get in! And…stay away from your hubby so you don’t catch THAT..cuz you know you are more likely to do that when you are run down and exhausted. Shove his soup under the door~

I can’t wait to see more~ xo Diana

Tina I feel like I just watched a “fantasy house” come to life and its yours!!!! I would be pinching myself every minute and kissing the ground of this chateau! It is incredbible.
Not sure if you have touched on this but who did all the choosing for the kitchen, bathrooms, colors, materials? Whoever is responsible is pure genius! My husband is drooling right alongside with me (hes an architect) so really got into following this blog too.
Moving is a b***** but its a great time to get rid of the excess as you seem to be doing and its always fun finding great things you forgot you had like your shoes! (cute ones btw)! We moved (downsized) from a very large home about 3 years ago and we still live in a pretty big house, about 5000 sq feet but I remember the empowerement I felt every time a new garbage bag went into the dumpster! It was nice to move with a lot less, kind of like when your hair is out of control and you get it cut short and it becomes magangable.
If I lived in that house, I would live in the kitchen and bathrooms (would use a different one every day) haha.
LOVED THIS UPDATE. Hang in there you are in the home stretch!

Hi Christy, almost all the bathroom floors are from New Ravenna and the kitchen floor is from Paris Ceramics (reclaimed French limestone) The wood is white oak and dining and living is white oak parquet.

PS Love the vanity for the powder room since you are asking but not sure if it limits what you do on the walls and floor is so magnificent, its a beautiful piece but if you keep it you will have to go very subtle on your wall treatments.

I’m so excited for you, but sad if this means your house posts are coming to and end! I think the vanity is beautiful, but I’d go simpler.

Please consider plate glass countertop in your dressing room to show all our lovely things . It will also reflect your chandy and light.

Tina so many things to comment on. Kitchen and baths are DREAM ROOMS. Seriously the most beautiful EVER!
I know moving is really stressful, we are moving early summer and I am trying to brace myself, after being in this house for 14 years we have accumulated a lot of “stuff” including many “barbie sized” clothes I have outgrown (had to laugh at that one)
That chest in the powder room, beautiful but you will have to go very very simple on the walls. Something to consider. Your nightstands in that guest room are incredible. The stove, floors, wood, marble, countertops, it is all a feast for the eyes. This is one palatial home. Can’t wait to hear you are in, and settled and let the fun begin, the decorating!! Please don’t ever stop blogging:-)

Hi Tina,
Moving is alot of work, but nice to clean out all the things we seem to collect over time. I know it would make it much easier for me to have the new house to look forward to. Your new home is absolutely amazing!! I love everything about it. The chest for the vanity seems a little busy compared to everything else in the home. I love the shape of it just not the pattern on it. If it were me I would try to find something else, but I am just daydreaming that it was my house.
You are getting close to being done.

Good morning Tina, happy senday!

You are almost there…in your fabulous new home! I am so excited for you! The house is stunning, I love the stove! It is so beautiful in the kitchen!

I could not agree with you more about moving and paking, I hate it! I never want to do It again. But I know I will be. I am always amazed at what I find when moving, and how much I decide to get rid of because it is too much of a pain in the butt to move. The up side is finding all your cute stuff.

Good luck with the rest of the move, take care of your husband, that illness seems to be going around. Still trying to shake it myself. Take care, take some breaks an drink more coffee from that fabulous mug!

Elizabethb

Wow! You have a big job ahead of you but well worth it! Yoiur house is so awesome! Can I move in too! JK!! Love all the beautiful bathrooms and tubs and sconces and marble and the kitchen and everything else! Love love love!!!!

OMG! I would pack up twice the amount just to be able to cook in the gorgeous kitchen. And have to say I LOVE husbands bathroom πŸ˜‰
I have to pack (on a much smaller scale) when I leave Spain after 11 years and move back to the UK. Your post has just given me a few palpitations πŸ˜‰

Tina,
Your home is certainly enchanting! Stunning, perfection and beautiful are a few other wonderful names to assign your home with…and to know that someone nice and grounded will be enjoying such a lovely home! Job well done. Super nice.

Moving is always the best time to purge and donate and sort and edit~sometimes I feel like I just want to get rid of everything!! You will be happy to get that part over with~but like you said, the best part is now unfolding!! I am in love with your closet and bathroom. I am so jealous of that wonderful space and how gorgeous it is!! The guest room looks so pretty with just the two night stands!!! Yay! It is starting to happen, and we all get to be there. So fun!! Hang in there and keep us up to date!

Everything is just spectacular Tina!!!!!
I love the dresser you are questioning for the vanity, it looks fab on that floor.
It is unique rather than predictable.
This is exciting!!!!
It’s going to be surreal when you finally live in your “castle”!

Good Luck this week!
XO

MOST BEAUTIFUL HOUSE EVER!!!!!!!! CONGRATS TO YOU AND ALL YOUR HARD WORK!!
I CANNOT EVEN IMAGINE THE UNDERTAKING THIS WAS.
ONE QUESTION, I MIGHT HAVE MISSED IT IN PREVIOUS POST, WHERE DID YOU GET YOUR KITCHEN FLOORS AND ALL THE MARBLE FLOORS FOR BATHS? IN LOVE!

What Vanessa said about being able to COOK in THAT kitchen on THAT stove!!
Yes, I would endure a killer move!!! You have worked very hard and waited a really long time to get to this point. Just a little longer (but a lot more work) and you can take that last glance backward over your shoulder as you drive away from the old house for the last time and prepare to run full throttle into your new life! So fun for all of us to be along for the ride! God bless!

Tina, your humor in the midst of all the long-awaited joyful-cause your finally moving- chaos is so refreshing and entertaining! Of course, once I read through all the humor, and got to the photos of your new home, all I could do was GASP, GASP, GASP! Well, you get the picture! Your taste is AMAZING!!!!!!! I will FOREVER refer back to your home for ideas! (PS. I pray for your husbands quick recovery. The symptoms you described are the norm for this season. God’s blessings to his health.) Hope the day goes a bit more smoothly for you!! xo

A few observations: 1.Everyone should have a fantasy house. You know, the kind that when you close your eyes and dream about a home, any home, that you could live in, what it would look like? Well, your home pretty much sums up my fantasy house-so, so, so gorgeous! 2. Having had a huge move 7 months ago, moving a large household, pets and kids, 15 hours away, I can feel your pain! We were very lucky in that my hubby’s company paid for packers and movers, but it was still a massive amount of work. 3. There’s nothing quite like making a good ole purge while moving to start fresh in your new home. 4. Love the dresser that you’re unsure about, but a bit hard to say whether it’s ‘right’ for that space, without seeing what else is going in there. I’d say, from what I can see, it’s beautiful =) Looking forward to seeing more about ‘my’ fantasy home =)

Tina-
I can’t believe it is actually time to move. This time next week you will be sleeping in your dream house!
I know that you will get beaten up, but wow is hit worth it!
Love everything you have done here. I can’t believe how close to be done everything is. Just stunning.
Take it easy. It is not going anywhere.

The Thrill of Victory! Take care of yourself and cherish the moment of change even when it seems painful!
Make no decision on the vanity until you get more settled. You may doubt now but love later! The mirror choice should make the decision easier.
Thank you for sharing the “agony and ecstasy” of building your classically elegant home!

Hello Tina,
Throughout a home that is total over-the-moon spectacular, you present it in such a way that is so beautifully down-to-earth manner. That is a real treat, in itself!

Everything is going to be wonderful! Including the piece in the guest bath!
Best to you!, Barbara

Yaaaay, you’re almost there! It’s looking stunning. Love the night tables in the guest room, love how the criss cross pattern is echoed in the carpet. All the tile work everywhere is just gorgeous!

And to help you deal with all the chaos and put things in perspective, let me quote what my 17 year old daughter says to me when I complain: “First world problems, am I right?” (as opposed to third world problems… aaah, the clarity of young minds!)

I love the vanity for the powder room. Yes, it is rather busy, but it ties in beautifully with the floor. And, hey, it’s a POWDER ROOM, people. You will just be in there a couple of minutes, not all day. A powder room should be a jewel box.

Oh Tina, I do not envy you that mess in the old house! What a ton of work, but soooo worth it, as you said. The new house is absolutely, completely perfect. I’m in Iove with the floors in your husbands bath…maybe one of my favorite things in the house! Oh, and I’m happy for you that your grown son will be home for a while to share the excitement with you! As for the powder room vanity, as gorgeous as it is, I kind of think it might take away from the floors, and I can see why you might want to change it. But your taste is impeccable, so since you can see it in person, whatever you decide will be great, I’m sure!
Stacy

Hahaha! I’m with-ya sister (and a few more years under my belt..) Moving is tough! Watch the back πŸ˜‰ Everything is gorgeous! I am not a designer by trade (on my second career now and I’m done!) but – wow -a designers dream! Everything is perfect. Your choice for flooring, appliances, love everything and I think the chest from Newport designs is beautiful. I mix light and dark woods and my overall colors are neutral. Have fun and don’t over-do-it! (great coffee mug too – Lol)

Just drooling and dying to see how you finish everything in the new house and how you decorate it! I hope you plan on giving us plenty of photos of the process and the finished product. If you are at all unsure of the chest for the vanity in the powder room I would suggest using a different finished one. Listen to that gut that got you this far!

Can I come live in your closet and bathroom? (with occasional free passes to the kitchen)? I promise I don’t take up much room:-)
G O R G E O U S!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tina,

Fabulous home!!! Can’t wait to see how you decorate it. Your blog is such an inspiration. Thank you for bringing us along during this remarkable process. Regarding the powder room chest, my vote would be for something not so “busy” so it won’t compete with the beautiful floor.

Jan

Tina I adore everything and yes I WOULD use that fabulous chest from EJ Victor. It is so special. Truly, I would love to have the nightstands in your Guest Room! The kitchen I cannot wait to see images of you entertaining that space is meant to be used to its fullest!

Lastly where did you get your wonderful Mug!?

Xoxo

OH TINA so exited for you! The nurse in me says feed the hubby some chicken soup and watch so you don’t get too run down and sick yourself. It is bronchitis/pneumonia time. Even though the vanity for the powder room looks divine, question is what are you going to top it with and what mirror will you use? That might help decide for you is it a keeper or not. I agree with the post above to top your dressing island with plate glass as the reflection from the chandy light will send prisms of light throughout the space.Though I don’t like to cook much (prefer eating that is why I never was a size 4)I could seriously learn mighty quick on a beauty of a stove/oven like that.

I think I’m almost as excited as you are!! However, I don’t envy you having to do packing, making the “to keep or not to keep” decisions, and the total exhaustion and stress of such a huge move. But, what awaits you is the most gorgeous and amazing home, made with your love, heart and soul and finally filled with your family, to cherish and make wonderful memories for years to come. Good luck….I look forward to every detail of the move!

Tina–I’m loving everything about your house. Please share the source for your kitchen flooring. I’m getting ready to tear out all of my existing carpet and tile and would love to use natural stone. I was thinking of going with the versaille pattern travertine, but once I saw your kitchen, I may have changed my mind. Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. P.S. I know you are extremely busy now, so you can respond when things settle down. My email is: [email protected]

Thanks!

Hi Tina,
Sorry to hear you are sick. That is the pits. It will be great to get one room put together, that is my goal when I move–so you have one room that “sort of” feels less chaotic. But then again, you can always go take a bath in that fabulous tub!

Everything you’ve done is awesome, and the tease with the guest room chests is WONDERFUL, we can’t wait to see what you’re up to when you are better!

Amazing… so close… Thinking of you and so excited for you that this beautiful home you have so lovingly created is just about there… Good luck this week… xv

Moving is always so overwhelming! But at least, you have that gorgeous home to look forward to! It looks fabulous…that stove, the kitchen floors, it is so wonderful to see it all come together!

Tina….I cannot believe how far you have come! I do not get to your blog as often as I would like and the last time I was here was probably a few weeks ago, so much progress has been made! WOW, this house is just to be believed. I know we will be seeing it in all the major decorating magazines (if thats something you would do) It sure has the makings to be a superstar!

I can’t wait to see what you do with the decorating but if what you have done so far is any clue, we are all in for a treat of epic porportions! I will check in again, and wishing you a calm, stresss free and smooth sailing kind of move.

Annie

yes, moving is exhausting..so much to pack and sort through…so many decisions..but it will soon be over!!!
and your home is really taking shape!! so happy for you that you and your family will again feel quite settled in the new digs..
best,
maureen

You made it again! You took my breath away! Taking time to think about what a awesome house you are moving into I believe will give you the strength you need! I just LOVED to look at the photos of your house! Thanks for the inspiration and have a lovely evening!

Kristin♥

Wow. Wow. Wow. I am truly at a loss to say anything more specific because that is one h*ll of a house that you have there. Amazing. Every detail, every ambiance. Just perfect. I am so excited for you! Hang in there and ignore those Barbie clothes–I just went through this last July and I know it is brutal but it is so fantastic to settle in afterwards!! Courage!!!!

Your home is stunning! Love every single detail! I cannot believe you are even posting on your blog with all that is going on around you. Good luck and try to enjoy being in your new home. πŸ˜‰

Heather

This I know for sure….as you work away at feathering and settling in your nest; be sure to approach each moment with gratitude for all that is. For every beautiful thought is to become the cellular memory of your new home. All is well. Sending you warm thoughts and tonnes of good energy:)

how exciting to finally getting to move into your dream home. You’ve been so gracious to share your journey and sources with many followers. Wishing you all the best for the next few days and we cant wait to see what you have up your sleeve for the next part – the decorating.

You’re well on your way and even though it’s a lot of work and surely tiring it’s very exciting too! So happy for you and your family. I vote for the chest that is pictured in the blog; just gorgeous!

Oh Tina, what an amazing transformation, and I say this without furniture having been moved in! It looks *so* wonderful, the flooring is spectacular, especially your bathroom, the living room & dining room, my goodness. I cannot wait for more photos once things settle down.

Moving is hell, there’s no two ways around it, we did it every 2-3 years when we were both in television and it is a nightmare. Having said that, it sounds like you had a good handle on it and were willing to let go of things you knew you would no longer use. (With the exception of the bags and shoes and really, who says goodbye to them easily?!)

I hope you are able to take care of yourself,
tp

For someone who has taken years to build a house and is very intentional about every detail, your packing and moving seems haphazard. Are you not using a moving company???

No its not haphazard, ironically though its a chaotic and stressful time, I feel actually quite organized. Yes we have professional movers of course, but I am the one in change of my own closet/personal items, I didn’t want anyone doing that and it was also a time for me to sort what stays and what goes, and a mover could not do that. So they are packing up the rest of the house. Works for me!

Oh my you poor thing! I’m exhausted just reading about it! But on a good note your new home is just incredible so it’ll all be worth it in the end. And it’s almost here! Congrats and good luck on the final push, Tina! xoxo

Tina, keep up the strength!
I have been following your blog for sometime now, and enjoy.
Your writing is great and I like that you post so many pics. I have really enjoyed the process of your lovely home coming together and wish you lots of happiness as you begin your life in the new house.

I love your choice of flooring in the master bathrooms and powder with the chest in it. Could you take close up photos and provide name of tiles.
I want to redo my bathroom and those floors will be my inspiration point. See what you have started!
Remember to have fun and enjoy this exciting experience!
Donna

What a wonderful feeling it is to be moving in to a new home! I can still remember how excited I was, and how much work it was!
You’re finally on the home stretch, girl! I’m so happy for you!
~ Wendi ~

What a process, dear Tina!!! Exhausting, at times overwhelming…at times even fun for the occasional “finds”! But the reward is almost here..hooray!! You creation is INCREDIBLE..I am just beyond excited for you..here’s to living your dreams! Each photo is stunning and breathtaking.
May your husband be well as soon as possible..and you stay well!
So happy to see you visit me and leave sweet comments, merci:))
Take care, and happy moving!
xoxo,
– Irina

I absolutely love how you are sharing all of this with us. You sound so real and I know how exhausting this must all be. First of all, I hope your husband feels better, and second of all, I am so truly happy for you because your home is just beyond magnificent and you’ve got the most incredible taste!! Good luck with all you have to do!
xo

Isn’t packing the most hideous job on the planet? Actually I think unpacking is a pretty close second and I still haven’t finished unpacking from our first move prior to Christmas. Tomorrow the next truck arrives with most of our stuff from storage, and I have no idea where it’s all going to go. Nightmare! My husband keeps stressing about me spending too much and that we are bleeding money, and complaining about how much stuff we have and telling me I can’t buy anything else. I of course am planning how to spend more money and buy more stuff for the house, and can see all the things I need to finish the house properly! By the way, your house looks absolutely stunning. I don’t know what is my favourite part, the bathrooms are absolutely glorious, your husband’s bath is my dream bath, adore that shape. All your heavenly tiles, tapware, lighting, oh just everything, don’t know where to begin. You must be so excited to move in and have all that space!

Tina, I am grinning from ear to ear, just thinking about your getting to move into your dream home! I can relate to the purging process as you well know. I am getting towards the end of my master closet purge. If I had to move my whole house right now I would probably have to be taking a break at the hospital!!! You are doing great and I am very proud of you. I would venture to say when it comes time to fill in all those lovely shelves in your closet you will purge even more. Take a well needed break and thanks for taking the time to keep us posted,
xo Kathysue

Wow Tina.. your new home really looks like home! I am in love with the kitchen, LOVE! As far as going with a darker piece for the vanity, I agree.. the floor is gorgeous and busy, the chest doesn’t need the little flowers and decoration – plainer is better for me. Of course, whatever you decide will be absolutely wonderful. You seem to have it down. I mean, you have been making the choices all along that has finally lead us to this gorgeousness!
Wishing you the very best weather this week and hoping it’s as peaceful as possible!!
Jan

tina, just shared the images of the updates with my husband. we love!!! keep going. keep breathing. way to purge too!!!

I totally know the feeling – complete and total exhaustion!! It will be over soon and so worth it!! What a masterpiece you have created! You are going to create so many wonderful memories there… I’m so happy for you!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Much love,
Desiree

Everything looks wonderful in the new house, although I do not envy you the move. I went through a big move a year ago after thirty years and I still get tired thinking about it. Good luck; you’ll be all moved in before long.
All the best…Victoria

Wow, Wow, Wow!! It all looks so different when you can see the floors with out ANY paper on it! I kept thinking this is never going to be done, is she crazy! lol But look… it’s pretty much finished! Can’t wait to see all your furniture in and set up the way you want it!

Thanks for blogging. πŸ˜‰
Terri

Tina, I was cracking up (almost fell off chair, laughing)… In emphatic horror (boxes, disarray, feel your pain, etc)~ UNTIL (sweet relief) saw pics of your beautiful new home.
I do not have trouble tossing shoes, its the bags. Was just last year I did, bag toss. Trust me, I make a used clothing shop here very pleased & have for decades (plus you get some pocket change).
No matter WHAT I do, my closets are brimming over. I have plenty storage (bet you do as well in new house).
Sister, baby steps…….. right when you feel like a race horse at the gate. I cant wait to see the results (bet will be the never ending song, house(blog). I hope so)! & hope your husband feels better FAST! ha

Tina,
I still have boxes that haven’t been touched and it will be a year in a few months that i moved! I feel your pain:-). BUT, your house is AMAZING!! I adore EVERYTHING!! I envy you your stove, more so too because it is a gas range. Everything is gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous!!!

PS. I hope your hubby feels better soon

Your home is just Beautiful ..and it will just keep getting better, waiting to see the family room decorated. I would pass on the PR chest. A beautiful cream, ornate woodwork would look nicer. Are you still using the chinoiserie. Paper? If so, keep it simple ..that floor is too pretty for distractions.

Tina, You will forget all about the exhausting and craziness of moving very quickly and you will wake each morning feeling like M.A. II…! Exquisite…but…I vote against the powder room vanity. Most of your other choices are of a much more simple styling and color and I think…your questioning it says everything. The floor is too perfect to be upstaged.
For our last move, my husband did ALL of the moving while I was out of town at an art workshop…I’m still finding unopened boxes after 5 years! …but…good work on my part, huh?!
I wish I lived nearby, I’d bake you a cake, bring macaroons, chocolate and champagne!
So excited for you!

Thanks Chris- I have decided against using the vanity. My husband really liked it and a designer friend who is very talented stopped by and both of them voted yes, but my instinct all along was not to use it as pretty as it is, it interrupts the “vision” I had for that room…and agree about the floor, wish you could bring me some cakes and chocolate too:)

Tina, Tina – it was worth the wait, all the nail biting and all that hard work – look at what you are moving in to! An absolute dream home! I am sooooo happy for you and you family. This place comes with good Karma – I can feel it through the screen!

Now, take a deep breath, smile with your whole body and stay away from the computer! We will all be here, waiting for you when you resurface.

Love to you,

Mon

P.S I actually kind of like the vanity just beacuse it was not the same old, same old. But if you chose it, the rest has to be kept pretty simple. But you know what you are doing!

As beautiful as the chest is that you chose for the powder room, you may want to use it elsewhere in the home. If you plan to wallpaper the powder room, using this chest may get a little busy.

I’m particular about someone else handling my things, so I understand if you did not want to do this. But, would you consider professional movers?

Hi Karen….yes we do have professoinal movers, the only rooms I wanted to pack up and sort through myself was my own closet/personal items. I didn’t really want someone going through them and they would not have been able to decide what stays and what goes, but yes the movers are packing up the rest of the house. Thanks!

Tina – not sure if you’ll even find the time to read this – especially with so many comments! πŸ™‚ I know I am falling farther and farther behind on my blogging as the move comes closer and closer…sigh. I know I have said it before but I have to say it again…I LOVE the choices of tile you have picked out throughout the home…just gorgeous! Wondering how the dressing room countertop investigation is going – would love to hear if the antiqued mirror is an option because that’s what I’d like later on too! All the best this week Tina!

Don’t know how you’re doing it, friend. Blogging and designing for clients is all I can muster. The thought of throwing a mega move like yours into the mix would do me in! But you are handling it with such positive energy and grace! Hang in there. Just remember in a few days you’ll be having the cup of coffee in your new fabulous kitchen. As for your question, I think the chest is beautiful in your powder room, but i’m not a frilly kind of girl and think a dark old piece would look fantastic in that spot. But, everybody’s style it different! Take care and have a great week! Oh, almost forgot, they (whoever they are) say it’s good luck if it rains on your moving day! M.

Just incredible, like everyone who sees this post the pictures make me a little weak at the knees! Your taste is just sheer perfection Tina, I do not say it often but in this case it more than applies. A big congrats to you on this amazing achievment. I say go with your gut on the p.room chest, if in doubt leave it out. Love your humor and writing, it adds so much to your post.
Last will you be willing to share your sources for the marble floors in your and husbands baths, your kitchen floor and what kind of marble is the countertop? It is all exquisite.
As we are preparing to start our renovation, I am looking for inspiration and somehow I always find the best right here on your blog.
Stay strong and be sure to have a good supply of coffee and wine on hand for the move!

Why didnt we warn you? Because we LIKE you! You needed the adrenalin rush and excitement to fuel you through the move! ANd, also, most of your readers like me probably think you have super human powers – you do so MUCH and make it look easy!!!!

It’s all coming together,Tina. Love the EJ Victor chest for the powder room…unexpected and beautiful, and the nightstands in the guest room…stunning!! Surprisingly of all the gorgeous rooms and architectural features, I cannot quit looking at the fabulous tile in your husbands bathroom. The image looking straight into the bathtub areas is so pretty with the tile, the tub and the yummy sconces!! So, so excited for you!!!!

Hi Tina, Congrats, everything looks just gorgeous! I would like to share my opinion on the vanity in the powder room since you asked. I feel a simpler piece would compliment the stone in a classic and more lasting way. You may grow tired of the floral detail in the one you have shown. You are right darker AND antique is the way to go. It will never go out of style but rather look as if it was there forever…just like your dream home….

Literally drooling. OMG the dressing room is a dream! Actually the whole house is a dream. I am so enamored with it! All the stress of packing will be so worth it the minute you get to wake up in your dream home! I’m so excited for you! As far as the bath vanity I think I would go with something darker but the piece you have does work. xo

Tina, only my second or third comment here but know I am a VERY regular viewer of your blog, I have two comments- one is take your time moving/settling in, don’t feel pressured, look how long it took to build this house, live in it and see how things fucntion for you, the lighting different times of the day, etc..and just pace yourself. I remember we moved into a large home about 5 years ago and it took me about 9 months to really get it all togehter but in the end it was done the way I wanted. You have created such a one of a kind masterpiece, it deserves to continue to have lots of thought put into it. The chest is so lovely but I do think it takes away from the floor, I ay go wtih your gut which is a dark simple piece. That way the floor and the paper can really shine.
This home just literally takes my breath away every time, don’t know if I have ever loved EVERY SINGLE ROOM of a home as much as I love yours. From the kitchen, pantry to the bathrooms to the living room and dining room to the family room, I am getting tired just saying it but you get the idea……spectacular.
Keep on trucking…you are where you have wanted to be for a long time, now pop the champagne!

Tina,
Just keep repeating….”it’s all worth the wait. it’s all worth the wait!” It just looks AMAZING and I would be happy to come unpack your closet just to soak up the beauty of your dressing room and THAT bathroom. Well, they are all just crazy amazing, but I love, love, love yours. (Can you tell I’m off to order the bathroom tile today?!)

Deep breaths, sister. You’re almost there!
xoxo Elizabeth

Your creative sensibilities and dedication to the completed project have worked well in creating a very special home for you and your family. I qm in awe of the materials that you have used and your ability to combine them to create such special rooms! I have such a peaceful feeling as I scroll through your pictures..I hope that once you are settled in, you will have much time to enjoy and relax in these special rooms… You deserve it! Look forward to seeing more pictures once you are settled in!

Please do a post listing your sources & choices ..paint, floors, lighting, appliances, etc..it’s all gorgeous! Of course when you have time..we would appreciate it.

And I hope you will put a french empire opera style chandelier somewhere in this beautiful home..it would look beyond fabulous!!

Oh, do I feel for you! I could NOT believe the amount of stuff we got rid of before our move last year. Then, once we moved down here, realized there was still that same amount to give away. It’s endless. But once you move, and (sort of) get settled, just think how good it all feels ! Best of luck this week!

Your home has similiar qualities of a house built up in Michigan about 5 years ago. The builder invested $15 mil into this home that would not sell due to the crash of the real etsate market & ended up selling the house at auction for $4.5. Google this truly amazing house at pamela rose auction 730 vaughn (click on photobook and use the scroll bar on the right to view photos) or google wsj 730 vaughn and click on photos:auctioned mansion in bloomfield hills. MI. The house is stunning, the woodowork, quality of materials, etc..homes are not built to this standard much anymore. enjoy

Goodness Tina, everything is looking so beautiful. I am so excited for you. I remember when we moved into our home after a huge renovation – I was on a complete high for weeks – which is good because one needs the adrenaline to get everything done! x Sharon

Hi There. I love your blog. Your home is absolutely stunning. Can’t wait to see you start decorating it. If you have a chance, I would love to know the details for the guest room carpet. It is just what I have been wanting for an upcoming remodel of my master suite. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home!

Ugh… packing and moving πŸ™ I think moving is one of the worst things in the world! So worth it though when you are moving into a home as beautiful as yours! How soon until you get to sink into that tub and relax with a glass of wine???

Tina,

Here’s your personal affirmation deep breath and swing arms outward wide and say:
I Am Whole
Perfect
Strong
Powerful
Loving
Harmonious and Happy!

Sweetie this will get you through anything. Repeat often and you’re there. I am so so excited, happy, and grateful that this time has arrived. All things look beautiful throughout your new home.

Truly being in the moment is where you are. Moving is evolving as a person, a woman, and visionary which is extremely difficult for many people to achieve just watch the Golden Globes and see how most people shrink after being rewarded BIG TIME…it can be crushing….because they don’t know how they got there.

Gosh I wish I were located closer I’d be there to help you out in an instant. Setting up a home is the most blessed position because experience, love and excitment means you’ve arrived…as a woman’s blessing her home starts with organizing as the lead and the family follows.

Big Hugs to you and the crew (hubby under the weather, your three sons adjusting to changes, Teddy cute little buttercup). Keep a camera handy and snap away because this too shall pass without a trace.

All the best lots of green tea at night so you sleep deeply and bounce back in the morning. Tears are allowed as the stress builds up we are like a teapot overfilled pour a little out at a time. It’s all good!

XOXO Bette

Hi, having moved into a pretty magnificent home myself last year, I have to say it took almost a year for us to settle in. But I remember so well the high I felt for months on end, feeling like I was floating on air as I started to make our house a home for myself, my husband and our four kids and 2 dogs. I would stay up until 1 or 2am opening boxes, hanging things, trying different pieces in different rooms, my husband thought I was nuts but I was so excited to be there and having built for almost 3 years, it was so great to finally be in “our dream”. I can very much understand your exasperation as your process has taken even longer, and I can only say pace yourself, really try to enjoy it, the day you feel like its too much or not any fun is the day you are working too hard or doing things too fast. It will take time but honestly to me, thats part of the fun and of the journey in getting it together.

You have built a truly beautiful home, so elegant and stately, it looks like a grand old European manor but with all the modern perks, I have enjoyed following you ever since I found you through Pinterest about a month and a half ago. Thank you for sharing it..I wish I had done that if not to have something online to document our journey every step. Good luck with your move.

Glad you’re keeping a sense of humor about the move – ha! My only added suggestion is to put on a pair of earbuds, download Always Look on the Bright Side of Life (Spamalot version) from iTunes, and whistle while you work! πŸ™‚

p.s. The Chandy is dripping gorgeous!

With moving, it’s always a case of it has to get worse before it gets better but you have so much to look forward to when you’re done. What a an amazingly beautiful home you’re going to have with a to die for kitchen. Cheers and best of luck!

Oh my goodness, your home is absolutely GORGEOUS! It should be featured in a magazine! I cannot wait to see it when it’s all furnished–you have fabulous taste! Good luck packing!!

You have come a long way, I can’t even imagine your excitement or exhaustion! Every room is so incredibly beautiful! I love the nightstands in the guest room and was noticing the diamond pattern on them repeated in the carpet…details, my favoite! Sleep tight and thank you again for sharing your adventure with us!

Oh my goodness!!!! Forget the choices in today’s post…I choose YOUR house instead…it is prettier than the others!!!

About the packing—it is awful! AWFUL, AWFUL, AWFUL!!!! I packed once..when I was 8 months pregnant with Will and we were moving from an adorable 2 bedroom cottage to a bigger home. Will was born 3 weeks early and I told Dave I would never pack again. And I haven’t. We use packers now::) And we have owned 5 houses in 16 years of marriage. So, we’ve had lots of packers:) Packers (and unpackers too) can be your best friends:0)

I hope you are settled in quickly. It is so beautiful. I am sure it is completely worth every bit of work. Oh and I hope your hubby feels better.

Wow its is happening how exciting, love your stove I have a belling love the old ranges πŸ™‚ The bathroom areas are all so scrumptious!!! I think the vanity unit is lovely & the colour blends lovely with the floor tiles I wouldn’t go darker but then its your home so you can do what you want hey!! :))) Happy house moving πŸ™‚

Just have to add my word of congratulations Tina, your house is looking wonderful, and I’m sure that will just get better and better as you really settle in. The generous way in which you have share the whole building process, and the way you have shared your dreams and hopes is what makes your blog so very … enchanting πŸ™‚
Bon courage!
Sharon

Yay! You’re finally (almost) there! I was so excited to stop by today and find out if you were in yet. Too bad that your husband was sick, and it was a rainy day but like you said- what a treasure to stay focused on! What I’m loving that I saw today are the baths, the little window’s juxtaposition in the guest room, the chandelier in your dressing room- geez, that’s gorgeous! and all of the marble- love, love, love!

I love the tub and freestanding sink in the Husband’s bath… do you know who the manufacturer is?

Enjoy your blog! Keep up the good work – Inga

Hello, would you please be so kind as to share the brand of your GORGEOUS range cooker? I have been googling for the past hour trying to find one that looks exactly like yours, as i think it is perfect and would love to have it once i decide to build a new home soon, it would be SOO APPRECIATED!
