Before I begin this post, I want to thank the 50 or so of you who so kindly and generously gave so much amazing information on London. Wendy and I are both so grateful and now I am craving a trip there myself. Needless to say several already told me they are bookmarking this post as I already have. You are the best! Fodors has nothing on you!
Hi, well suffice to say I am feeling a little calmer today than I was this time last week. I cannot believe we have been in the house 10 days! It has been exhausting, exciting beyond description and exhilarating all at the same time. Moving is no laughing matter and the last time I did a big move where I fully unpacked was 10 years ago and lets just say theres a big difference between 30 something and 40 something:) But I do believe the worst, most exhausting and hardest part is over and I will admit its been fun opening up boxes and rediscovering so many of my pretty little treasures (treasures to me).
At this point I am putting things away and know that they will be rearranged all over again in the future. After all that is part of the fun, don’t you think? I remember after being in our old house even after 7 or 8 years, I was still always fiddling around, adding to, moving things around. So here’s some of the latest, not a tremendous difference from last weeks post but little things here and there, a real hodge podge of things happening around here….

Hi Tina! I loved looking at your treasured collections~thats what makes a house a home, doesn’t it? I am in love with your limoges!! Oh my, from the first set to the last, all so fantastic. I bought a big collection of limoges from my elderly neighbors estate sale, but it is more simple in pattern with a pretty garland of lilac roses and green leaves around the rims and a bit of gold as well. So pretty~love all the silver too!! I just am going to love seeing all your house progress as you make it. Happy to see Teddy has a world view over his shoulder there…one question it brought to mind was do you worry about his nails scratching all the wood floors? Ours are so scratched now from Dillon. Do you cordon off an area just for him?

Oh it’s really looking like home now! I can see why you are weary with so much to do, but, yes the excitement of unpacking and being reunited with favorite things is second to none. We’ve finally begun unpacking boxes that we brought over from the U.K three years ago that have been patiently waiting for us in our garage. We just never had a place for all my china, or enough bookcases for my mountain of books until now, and it is a joy to finally place these loved treasures. Drooling over here! Boring? Heck no, I live for this stuff, my mother was an antiques dealer so we grew up on, its in my blood:-) Your things are heavenly. The pantry came out incredible, what a joy to add such beauitful things to! The staircase is incredible, you so need a bride to waltz down that staircase, do you have a daughter?
The peeks I am getting of the house are just jaw dropping, Tina. This is the start of the fun part, so enjoy it. I remember unpacking all my finds too and it felt like Christmas all over again after being stored for 2 years I cannot imagine 4. Keep it coming, so much fun to see. Glad Teddy is content now, he has quite the set up!

Everything is coming along so beautifully, I am in love with your butlers pantry! So many fabulous treasures to keep in there. Limoges is a favorite of mine too, I also went to school there for a summer and have many friends that live there still.
I have to say that Teddy looks beautiful and comfy in front of the window, and the cupcakes look yummy too.

Oh my, now I know that my first remark shouldn’t be about Teddy as your new home just is so unbelievably gorgeous but I have to say right up front that I love him! I have only been a follower for a short time and so though I knew that you also had a Golden, had never seen him. Look at that sweet sugar face. When I moved last July, my Ben was in such a state–I am glad that Teddy is having an easier time with the transition.
I can’t wait to see more of your home. Their is so much that calls to me–those floors, the long hall, that staircase! The light! Rediscovering our treasures is the best part of moving, isn’t it? I have been surprised how things that have been in hiding for sometime finally look “right” here.

Every one of my senses is in overload right now! I live for this stuff, are you kidding? Teddy is so cute and looks so happy in his new home and living in a room like that, he should:-) The pantry and family room (the glimpses I got) are AH MAZ ING! And I have to tell you I found it very endearing that you have your wedding cake topper after all these years. Speaks a lot to the kind of person you are and why you are so well liked. I look forward to your posts about your house and all the lovely things you own. Your first Limoges china is similar to my “Old Abbey”, except that mine has more pink roses on them. They were my in-laws’. I am glad I decided to take them at the last minute or the whole lot would have ended in an estate sale. We also got a ton of silver and several crystal glassware. The 5 boxes of brown transferware are still in storage. One day, I hope to be able to use and/or display them all.
Oh! I have the very same need for Limoges ! But the staircase railing ..beautiful! Then the angel compote! The windows in any of your rooms! Thank you again , for making my morning coffee better.

Lovely little collection of silver and china. Enjoy using them! The silver “ice bucket” to which you refer is actually a repository for champagne. People often use the terms interchangeably — Champagne bucket and ice bucket — however an ice bucket, technically, is the silver container in the photo above the champagne bucket. Champagne (on ice) is placed in a champagne “pail” or bucket, whereas ice is kept in the ice bucket. Often people use ice buckets for champagne buckets when none of the latter are available, but, in your case, you have a beautiful example of both! Hope you are feeling better soon!

I am also obsessed with dishes. My collection includes vintage jadeite and azurite as well as antique Minton china made for either Tiffany’s, Davis Collamore or Gillman Collamore. The last two were specialty stores in NYC from the early to the late 1800s. I also collect footed compotes, Hotel silver and antique sterling, etc., etc., etc. I don’t mind in the least having a look at your pretties. Feel free to share anytime. Hey sweet friend! Love these peeks into your gorgeous new domaine : ) !! LOVE the Limoges and the gallery tray is also outstanding….well, it all is! I would love your secret to keeping it all so well polished. I have many pretty pieces, but the thought of polishing them before using them keeps most of it in the cupboard, which is really sad. I often wish that I’d registered for pewter instead of silver-plate, 25 short years ago, but no one steered me in that direction.

I love seeing all the china and crystal and silver. The only thing better would be to always show the pattern of the china and tell us where you bought each piece. Maybe one day you could do a blog post of your many favorite shopping haunts. I for one would start planning a road trip almost immediately. The cherub pieces are my favorite. Sorry I couldn’t help with the London trip but I have only been there once and other than Harrods and the red bus tour I have nothing to add but I will be looking over all the comments and making a list.

Tina, I read that the reason the house is so big is that you were going to open it as a shelter for women & kids escaping from abuse. That is the most amazing thing I’ve ever heard of anyone doing. You are an angel.
Tina, what a wonderful treat this post is. A sight for sore and tired eyes. I love all the china, crystal and fine things but what really captured me was 1. adorable Teddy obviously loving his new home and 2. That incredible staircase, its breathtaking 3, your French chest, how I would love to find one like that and finally 4. the gorgeous wood floors! There are too many rooms to name a favorite but its a dead tie between the kitchen, pantry, breakfast room and family room. Just breathtaking. I have not been away from blog land that long – but you have already managed to get the house up and running (looking great!), Teddy settled (and happy looking) and you have dived into a zillion boxes and lined up rows and rows of beautiful table top decor. Aw there’s not place like “Home” great family room already a great place to melt into your new space. Teddy that little cutie…and lovely smile as he poses for the camera. Looks like you have made some incredible unpacking progress! I love that view of the spiral staircase! Such a coincidence that you highlighted your Limoges China. My grandma is sending me an antique Limoges platter that she has been wanting to gift me for awhile, which is currently on it’s way to my house!

Just had to reply to this as I await the closing on my house. I packed up my china, crystal and silver almost 2 years ago. We have moved 4 times in the last 2 years as well. I miss my collection and am anxious to get it out of storage and unpack it over the next couple of weeks. We close on Tuesday the 4th. I cannot wait to start enjoying our new house as you have been enjoying your’s!

Hi Tina! I loved looking at your treasured collections~thats what makes a house a home, doesn’t it? I am in love with your limoges!! Oh my, from the first set to the last, all so fantastic. I bought a big collection of limoges from my elderly neighbors estate sale, but it is more simple in pattern with a pretty garland of lilac roses and green leaves around the rims and a bit of gold as well. So pretty~love all the silver too!! I just am going to love seeing all your house progress as you make it. Happy to see Teddy has a world view over his shoulder there…one question it brought to mind was do you worry about his nails scratching all the wood floors? Ours are so scratched now from Dillon. Do you cordon off an area just for him?

Oh it’s really looking like home now! I can see why you are weary with so much to do, but, yes the excitement of unpacking and being reunited with favorite things is second to none. We’ve finally begun unpacking boxes that we brought over from the U.K three years ago that have been patiently waiting for us in our garage. We just never had a place for all my china, or enough bookcases for my mountain of books until now, and it is a joy to finally place these loved treasures. Oh my, now I know that my first remark shouldn’t be about Teddy as your new home just is so unbelievably gorgeous but I have to say right up front that I love him! I have only been a follower for a short time and so though I knew that you also had a Golden, had never seen him. Look at that sweet sugar face. When I moved last July, my Ben was in such a state–I am glad that Teddy is having an easier time with the transition.
I can’t wait to see more of your home. Their is so much that calls to me–those floors, the long hall, that staircase! The light! Rediscovering our treasures is the best part of moving, isn’t it? I have been surprised how things that have been in hiding for sometime finally look “right” here.

I look forward to your posts about your house and all the lovely things you own. Your first Limoges china is similar to my “Old Abbey”, except that mine has more pink roses on them. They were my in-laws’. I am glad I decided to take them at the last minute or the whole lot would have ended in an estate sale. We also got a ton of silver and several crystal glassware. The 5 boxes of brown transferware are still in storage. One day, I hope to be able to use and/or display them all.

Lovely little collection of silver and china. Enjoy using them! The silver “ice bucket” to which you refer is actually a repository for champagne. People often use the terms interchangeably — Champagne bucket and ice bucket — however an ice bucket, technically, is the silver container in the photo above the champagne bucket. Champagne (on ice) is placed in a champagne “pail” or bucket, whereas ice is kept in the ice bucket. Often people use ice buckets for champagne buckets when none of the latter are available, but, in your case, you have a beautiful example of both!

I am also obsessed with dishes. My collection includes vintage jadeite and azurite as well as antique Minton china made for either Tiffany’s, Davis Collamore or Gillman Collamore. The last two were specialty stores in NYC from the early to the late 1800s. I also collect footed compotes, Hotel silver and antique sterling, etc., etc., etc. I don’t mind in the least having a look at your pretties. Feel free to share anytime. The William Yoeward covered cake stand is quite a fabulous house gift.

I love your antique Limoges but then you have such exquisite taste as all the pictures attest. Do you have a favourite or everyday china? Cant wait to see your gorgeous pieces all displayed in that beautiful butler’s pantry. Glad to see you were able to do so much unpacking in such a short time.

Looks like you have made some incredible unpacking progress! I love that view of the spiral staircase! Such a coincidence that you highlighted your Limoges China. My grandma is sending me an antique Limoges platter that she has been wanting to gift me for awhile, which is currently on it’s way to my house!

Teddy is so cute and looks so comfortable in his new home (wouldn’t mind being Teddy myself)! Its traumatizing for dogs to have to get adjusted to a new home, so taking as many familiar things with them as possible is a great idea.

I used to love collecting all of that when I was in my 20’s and thought I was Martha Stewart…I’ve sold all of it since then 🙁 but it was such a fun hobby to see what great treasures I could get from antique stores. Now I stick to WSH stuff..Nice to see all of your treasures! An that sweet cake holder from your friend is beautiful!

Just had to reply to this as I await the closing on my house. I packed up my china, crystal and silver almost 2 years ago. We have moved 4 times in the last 2 years as well. I miss my collection and am anxious to get it out of storage and unpack it over the next couple of weeks. We close on Tuesday the 4th. I cannot wait to start enjoying our new house as you have been enjoying your’s!
