Good Friday evening……so what are you up to this Friday night? We were supposed to go to dinner with friends but alas I am way too wiped out and am already in my pjs and ready to call it a night (and wouldn’t want it any other way)!  Tomorrow night we have a big party to attend which I know will be a late night so have to rest up tonight:)  Where to begin……I cannot thank you enough for your support and encouragement with my new online store. I think however the saying “be careful what you wish for” may apply. It was incredibly validating to have such  an amazing response to my online store  but I have to admit I wasn’t prepared for it and was utterly overwhelmed. I realized this when I was sitting at my desk with a mile high pile of papers and invoices drinking coffee that tasted stale but desperate for any thing to give me a boost I kept chugging along,  only to realize I had been sipping coffee from the day before…ewwwhh! Then the next morning, went to my local fruitstand and realized my jacket was on inside out, I think at that point I was at the “crash and burn stage”.

I consider myself the ultimate multi tasker, ‘Ms. can do anything” and it takes a lot for me to feel like I am in over my head but admittedly this week I felt this way on a few days. Almost ready to write my “I am retiring my online store post” (half kidding)  I was beyond busy ordering, packing, sorting, invoicing, and playing bookkeeper. There is a lot of behind the scenes that goes into an online store that I don’t think many think about (I know I didn’t) so my hat and profound respect goes off to each and every one of you online store owners! It is a lot of work. But despite the work…it was admittedly a lot of fun too, getting to see everything and making sure it passes muster! Of course I want one of everything that comes my way! I feel good now that I got many many orders out the door in the last few days, now I feel like I have regrouped and its time to settle down with a glass of wine. I have earned it:)  I do want to answer a few general questions as several have asked….

1. What happened to such and such an item, I saw an item and now its gone? Items are subject to availability and  are available in limited qualities. Once I have sold the last one, I try to be vigilant about removing the item. If not I will contact you and offer a suitable replacement or prompt refund.

2. Is my merchandise returnable? Yes within 7 days (minus the shipping costs) except canvas art and outdoor planters and garden urns as they are both made to order so they are final sale.

3. Do I ship internationally? Somehow several international sales were able to go through we never set it up. I honored them but am not at this going to offer international shipping other than to Canada. Perhaps in the future. Only exception is linens as they are lightweight. I will ship internationally for the linens.

4. Do I offer rush shipping? Not at this time. As I am doing this on my own, I am lucky enough to be just staying afloat:) Perhaps in the future, I can offer this but not at this time.

I get a lot of inquires about many different things and do my best to try to get back to everyone. If somehow your inquiry slipped through the cracks, dont’ be bashful about getting back to me…..I am happy to help if i can!

One of the first items I sold out of were some blue and white bowls and covered boxes and I just got a few pieces in which I will list over the weekend for those wanting to know! I only have five or six so its first come first serve…..

I would like your opinions as I really value what you have to say. With the porcelains which have been extremely popular….I have concentrated mostly on the blues and whites, but I am thinking of bringing in a few colorful pieces as when I did add one or two they immediately sold so would like your take on the following…..

I think these plates are great to hang or display for a  kitchen……
And whats your thought on birds…I love them, I think they can be really great decorative objects.
Hot off the presses as of Sunday morning just listed these two gorgeous crest pillows…love them!

Look forward to hearing what you think. And thank you again for your support, well wishes and encouragement. You are the best! Wishing everyone a great and relaxing weekend…..I know I plan on taking the next two days off to relax a bit. Thankfully our unusually mild weather is due to break tomorrow, I am sorry but 80 degrees in spring and bad hair days do not fly with me in the month of March so 60 tomorrow will be welcomed with open arms…… Enjoy!
Oh and one more thing, in case you didn’t get a chance, and you have an extra minute……
Lisa, a new blogging friend who has a newer blog decided to feature me and my new store and did a brief interview. Hope you will stop over to take a peek. Its always great for a new blogger to get some love…..and I know she would be thrilled to hear from you. Click here to visit me at 16Lstreet blog to say hello!

Thanks to you both, I am truly honored and thankful!

Hi there, Tina! Hats off to you for taking on such a challenging project! I was thinking about you this week– knowing a little about what you are going through starting this business and yet realizing that until one is actually doing exactly what you are doing it is hard to really comprehend how overwhelming it can all be, especially at first.

I REALLY, really like the colorful porcelains and hope you will bring more in. I have been looking for some colorful porcelain for my living room and like what you have shown here A LOT! I have had a hard time finding colorful porcelains that I like without super-inflated prices from name-brand retailers. Your prices are good, and I think more colorful porcelain would do really well.

I like the birds too. A friend of mine with a very stylish house had a few pairs of birds in different places throughout her home, and I thought they added a nice splash of color.

Keep your head up! When I’m overwhelmed, I like to joke that “water may be going over the dam, but the dam isn’t breaking!”

Enjoy your weekend, and don’t forget to relax a little. πŸ˜€

Keri

Tina- you are like the energizer bunny and I love your humor, and am sure it helps get you through even hairy situations. If anyone can get through something- its you! I love your store, so hope you will keep it around a long time. I already used my cocktail napkins last night and my friends noticed and of coures I told them where I got them:-)
Love the new possibilities, I adore the pale green pieces, the red and the white birds. Priced right i would swoop them into my shopping cart! Hope you will take some time to relax this weekend, we are off to Colorado for spring skiing to visit my son!

LOL! I remember the days…so glamourous the thought of a fun business with beautiful merchandise, so happy, so excited and so…overwrought… ‘what have I done? How can I turn back time and know what I know now…then!??’

Just know, you will survive and things will level off. You will be wildly successful and madly in love with this…until you aren’t and you want a change…long time coming! I did not know how you did it already, before the shop!!! Don’t let the paperwork pile up and all will be well!

You are amazing, Tina. Relax, keep the home fires lit! …and all will be well!
Big supportive hugs, Chris

(And have a glass of your favorite adult beverage and know how lucky you are!)

Love your style, the world needs more people like you with your positive energy and your uplifting words. I love hearing what you have to say as much as I love seeing all the beautiful pictures and now I have you store to drool over. Adore all the colorful pieces, yes to the birds and all the glorious red! Keep up the great job, girl! Make sure to rest and enjoy that glass or two of wine!

I love the items you are considering! Please put my name on one of the pale aqua bowls, with the bronze/brass tone feet, it is calling my name loud and clear!

Congratulations on a wildly successful start! I’m sure it’s way more stressful than any of us know, but now you know you were right…there IS a demand for beautiful items at reasonable prices just like what you have in your store!
I ADORE the new items above, especially the gorgeous green planter and light porcelain pieces!! I want one of everything, and feel sure that I probably will buy everything! Have a great weekend…and RELAX, you definitely deserve it!!

Lauren

I’ve thought about you multiple times over the last few days…knew that your store would be a tremendous success, but I am sure it is overwhelming. If anyone can handle all the irons in the fire it’s you!! Wishing you a wonderful relaxing weekend with an extra glass of wine at that party tomorrow night!

Tina, I am so excited for you. That is great you are so busy and being the first week. Danni and I have been talking about doing something similar. Best of luck…

Hi Tina, I don’t know how you’ve pulled the shop off right behind building and decorating your dream house, not to mention moving! You must be one high energy gal, and you are off to fabulous start. Love the new items and I love the new colors in the porcelain. Enjoy your glass of wine, and hope your weekend is great.

The French Hutch

I love the new items, especially the citron color planter and matching plate and the large blue and white bowl. I would love to get one of those. I cannot wait for my package to arrive next week…Christmas in March.
XO Victoria

Tina,

You’re doing a great job – your sense of humor will take you through some of the more difficult ‘phases’. Love the pale blue porcelain pieces.
Rest up for the big party tomorrow evening.
Bon week-end,
Mimi

Looking forward to getting my monogrammed guest linens! Here, here to your comment about 80’s in March and resultant bad hair days. I think I have been especially grumpy because so many people here in DC are SO happy with this hot weather. Not me!! Thanks for expressing my frustration.
xo, Anne

Hello Tina,

I am so excited that The Enchanted Home online store is o successful, but then again I and all of our ok lowers knew it would be.

I hope that you have a fabulous time at your party! What will you be wearing? Do come back and tell us all about it!

I love all of the new items, the birds are great!

Have. Great night, take care,

Elizabeth

Tina- So happy to hear that the store is such a success from the start though have to say I am nto at all surprised, as they say do what you love and the rest will follow. You have truly wonderful taste and its hard to find a lot of beautiful things under one roof. used to love going to Pierre Deux until they closed so now I have The Enchanted Home
πŸ™‚
But I can imagine it is a lot of work so definitely pace yourself. Also really like the things above that you are considering, since I love color and have lots of it in my own home I would love to see these offered, especially love the golden yellow pieces, the rooster plates and the birds. You get my vote. Have a fantastic weekend and enjoy your party.

So happy to learn that your shop is such a success! I know that it would be. I don’t guess you can ever be prepared for what is ahead in business. Appears that you are fine.
I love the mustard porcelain and the blue footed. Just beautiful.
Hope that you enjoy a more calm weekend, Tina.

Tina, the gorgeous monogrammed cocktail napkins arrived today and I adore them!!! They are just perfect and exactly what I needed. I will post about them next week. Hope you have a wonderful weekend! xoxo

This sounds so wonderful! I know that you are busy but you will be very successful! If I lived closer I would help you for FREE! In exchange for lattes! Congrats and looking forward to making my first purchase!

I love everything – and I really mean everything, that you have in your shop. So absolutely gorgeous, and I wish that you were doing international shipping. It is so hard to find this type of decorative item here in Australia – any readers have any suggestions where I can find such fabulous items here I would love to hear from them!

GOOD MORNING precious Tina!

Dear heart, it is so fun to see your new store take off! Just with my little Etsy shop, it is not the sales that are soaring per say, but my IDEAS to venture out into different venues for my art. How lovely blogging has been to meet people who do care about helping each other. LOVE YOUR WARES! And have a blast at that party! Anita

Hi Tina! So many pretty things, I think the spa blue porcelains are gorgeous!! Well enjoy your weekend and pat your self on the back for this great start to your beautiful home decor store!! We had a crazy day yesterday as I was up in my master bathroom painting the closet doors I heard gunshots!! There was a bank robbery~ended up with one man shot dead as he fired at police, and one on the run in our neighborhood. All night long there were helicopters and the swat team searched the back yard~CRAZY night. Hope today is a regular day!!

I knew your store would be a huge success. When you get too busy you can hire me, I desperately need a job! I am chuckling at the stale coffee and the jacket inside out… something I’d do! Have a fun night out tonight and remember to pace yourself… Yes, you CAN do it all but it doesn’t mean you have to do it all at once or at the expense of exhaustion! xo

Tina – it may be over the top but remember it is hard to see the beautiful forest for the trees some times. If anyone can handle it- you (and I) know it is you! (If you are looking for an assistant – let me know where to send the resume!)
Thanks for sharing. Have a marvelous Saturday. xoxo Jalon

You had me laughing at the 2 day old coffee and not realizing it until you were half way done, now thats the sign of a hard worker! I remember when I was going through graduate school, eating pizza and wondering why it tasted so horrible and hard, then I realized it was there from the day before, haha. The upside was I graduated with honors!
So hang in there, there is that learning curve with everything new and I give you tremendous credit for following a dream and going for it. You will never have to wonder “I wonder what would have happened if….”. I love all of your items, they are so elegant and classy and best part is affordable! And for those of us who don’t have great stores nearby this is especially great. So thank you for that and hope you enjoy a relaxing weekend. We are off to a horse show for my daughter in Philadelphia.

Sounds like a very good problem to have! Wow! But sounds like you are working to find a balance so you can take care of yourself too which is great to hear. πŸ™‚ The toile items are beautiful!

Please do make the colorful porcelain available. The yellow/gold bowl & plate is very pretty. Would the first rooster plate (blue/cream) come in different patterns? would love a few of those as well. Like the aqua porcelain too. Would really like French shade lamps & sconces, will you be adding to lighting?

Tina,

Know that what you love many others do to. Follow your heart as you select new items to add to your online store these new items are wonderful.

Happy to hear things are flourishing just as Spring makes itself comfy.

You’re a great planner…pace and timing are the keys. Sounds like you may need a taskrabbit (email to follow).

Happy weekend!

Bette

Tina, I can only imagine how busy you are with your following…I do understand…between our local retail , the online shop, and design business, I can barely get a post up and am trying hard but can’t follow near as many blogs as I used to. I hope you get some rest this weekend. You really deserve it. Congratulations on your huge success! Mona

Tina, I always overextend myself, and constantly feel overwhelmed. It SUCKS. So I’m sorry you are feeling that way. I’m SURE your customers will understand if shipping is slowed down a little! I’m so happy to hear you are doing so well — I knew you would πŸ˜‰
Stacy

Tina first of all I was positive your business would get off to a racing start!! You will probably need to take extra vitamins and supplements until you get used to the pattern and scheduling!!

Bravo I adore birds lately and the colored porcelains/ pottery is wonderful.

I hope you will come and see my feature on an amazing sculptor!

Tina, I ABSOLUTELY love all of your items. I give thumbs up on incorporating more colors. I love the peacock!! So happy that you were able to rest! Hope tonight (Saturday) you are having an absolutely beautiful evening out, with confident thoughts of your successful online store!

My week was so bad I never finished my order.
I was the one who wanted the measurements on the BIG silver tray. As to other China pieces you are considering, well they are not for me. I prefer the blue and white and I like it to look vintage. I am not kidding when I say I have looked everwhere for replica white Blanc to Chine that is not a frigtening animal or some
goddess. Can you find some pretty all white
pieces? Then we of the horsey set are always looking again for non kitchy and the same old
boring Hunt scenes. Now what was the question?

Tina,
I’m relieved to know you’re human. Seriously, you just built a beautiful house and made a move…it’s okay that you might have gotten a tiny bit overwhelmed with a gazillion orders. You’ll manage and all of your readers have faith in you.
Xo,
Karen

Hi Tina, I really enjoyed your post! This was my first visit to your blog and I’m like you were last night, falling asleep in my pj’s and didn’t think I had enough energy left to read your story but I’m so glad I did! I’m going to be a follower, and may even add you to my favorite list on my sidebar! That way I’ll be sure and read more when I’m awake another time! Stop by and visit my blog if you have some time. Till next time,

All the best,

Hi Tina, how exciting that your store has been so successful so quickly! I love all the porcelain, but my two favorites are the green planter and the peacock. Everything in your store is incredible! Jennifer

Glad your new venture is going so well. I’m not surprised in the least. In regards to the possible new items you were asking about. I love love love the aqua and brown porcelains. Very beautiful. I think everything you showed, will go ever very well with your audience. Good luck and continued success.

Love the new colors for your store! Glad to hear (in a loving way) that you are exhausted.. sometimes I just wonder how you can possibly do it all, and it’s good to know you are like the rest of us and get overwhelmed! At least you are tired from doing something that’s rewarding and know that it will probably get easier as the kinks are worked out!
XO

Tina…I do not know how you do it. Your post and description of how crazy things are made me tired :)……I am so proud of you, as I am sure all of your friends and family are.

Hi Tina, congratulations on your stores success. I also run an online business and know the amount of email enquiries that go with the territory. Please, please, please reconsider International shipping, it’s not that hard. I am from Australia & we don’t have the wonderful product range & variety, so it’s exciting when we find it.
