Happy Wednesday to you! As I am starting to finally think seriously about my guest room and my own bedroom (at long last), one look I am continuously drawn is canopied beds and beds with crowns. Yes, it is very classic and traditional, having been done for centuries but now you also see it being done with a modern twist to give it a fresher cleaner feel. Its a beautiful way to use a favorite fabric or combination of fabrics and just feels so “cocoonlike”.
I remember the very first time I slept in a bed with a soaring crown was in a beautiful hotel room in Belgium about 15 years ago. I felt like a royal and must say I had an awfully great nights rest. So….am sure I want to do the same thing in  my own guest room and today’s post is a tribute to all the wonderful treatments that can be applied to a bed. What are your thoughts? Is it a like? A love? Would love to know! Here we go………feast your eyes on these beauties!

This beautiful bedroom has been an inspiration for my guest room, love the check fabric used inside, think it makes it less fussy and crisp feeling, Joy Tribaut
The colors here are my favorite, I like the idea of a very quiet print with solid colored muted bedding, so inviting! TH
Beautiful application, love how the fabric matches the wallpaper, also love the gathered carona,  Kendall Wilkinson
LOVE the scalloping detail on this vision in ivory, Phoebe Howard
Always adored this bedroom, so serene and inviting! Cathy Kincaid
Fun twist on a traditional room for a lucky young lady! Palmer Weiss
How pretty is the soft billowy fabric used as a canopy? So soothing and calming…..Howard
Thom Felicia’s bold take on a modern day canopy bed
Mary McDonald dreamt up this vision in white!
Wiliam Eubanks designed this fabulous master retreat using warm soothing tones…so elegant!
How sweet is the pink gingham? Love it! Shes so pretty
This sumptuous room by Mario Buatta just screams “come jump here” and bring your mags and books with you (and a indulgent little snack too:)
Love this serene oasis of a room, the scale of the room makes it feel majestic, Veranda
Always been a fan of this gorgeous dreamy room of canopied twin beds, Cathy Kincaid
Love pretty prints in rich warm tones for a canopy as Rinfret did in this elegant retreat
Love this monochromatic take on an elegant modern daybed….beautiful!
Of course everything Ralph Lauren touches turns to gold or at least into a bed fit for a princess!
Solis Bentancourt’s modern take on a pair of canopy beds, pretty!
And for a more masculine approach, canopy beds can still work…as shown here in Cottage and Gardens.
I really like Michael S. Smith’s take on a more transitional cleaner feel on a canopy bed, Elle Decor
Barry Dixon designed this fabulous retreat in brown, love the feeling!
And finally….who said canopy beds are just for humans?  Aristopaws
Too cute! Chinoiserie Chic
Had to throw in mans best friends, they like to live in great style too! So….whats your take? Do you love this look? Do you favor it more traditionally or like the more modern take? To me, its just beautiful any which way. As always, love to hear what you think. Wishing you a fabulous day!

First how cute are the dog beds!!! I think our King Charles would look great with one. The William Eubanks design has been one in my inspiration file for some time. I also like Phoebe Howards design. I have been planning to do a crown and am excited to see what you choose. Have a great day! – Tonya

I remember begging my mom for a canopy when I was a child. I LOVED them because they were pretty made me feel like I was “safe” from all the bad things. I still love them, but prefer a more modern look. I’m loving that bed designed by Mary McDonald! Hope you have a good day, too!

I love most of them, Tina. I copied the Joy Tribaut look for my daughter’s room. I loved the “feel” of the whole room. I love the Veranda room! Cute little fur baby beds~ Hope you have a great day-xo Diana

Growing up in Belgium in a small country chateau, we had canopied beds and really felt like princesses. We love the more modern look of stripes and checks and all of your images are so pretty. Alas, our 1920’s farm house has low ceilings so a canopied bed is not an option.

Oh my word! As much as I love Barry and his work I’ve never seen this pic! That is my EXACT fabric on my bed that is literally almost identical! Down to the neck rolls! Obviously, this gets my vote! I am stunned! I thought I had put it all together as an original! I knew I loved that man! He’s such a sweetheart anyway! I’m a huge fan of crowns and canopies as you can tell since I have one and my daughter’s room has a pair in her room that I had built for her many moons ago! I still adore them today and doubt I will ever pass them down! ( we shall see! ) Loved the doggie beds as well! Hope you are having a great day and week so far! Thanks for sharing these beautiful visions of such gorgeous rooms!

I absolutely love this look but due to my claustrophobia I can’t have anything like this. Even the thought of something hanging over my head sends me over the edge so I’ll just have to admire from afar.

Happy Wednesday!

Wow this are spectacular, I have never seen so many beautiful ones all in one place. I grew up with a canopy and when we move I promised my daughter a bed wtih a crown, so will refer back to this post for some ideas, got a few just looking today.
Thanks for putting together such a beatiful post, how cute the dog beds are too.
Have a nice day.

This makes me want to redo my room today! I am looking for some ideas as we finally decided to redo our country french bedroom, and this post was just what I needed. Love the really light tone on tone rooms, they are so soothing and calming, a perfect anecdote to our crazy lives.

I love that Phoebe Howard bed! When I was a little girl, I wanted nothing more than a canopied bed. But my parents weren’t buying it. I’d still love to have one, but the floor plan of the master makes it so there is a window right behind our bed – so instead of a canopy or crown, I have a drapery frame. Not quite as dreamy, but it will do!
Happy Wednesday, Tina! XO

#1 Dixon, #2 Rinfret, #3, Eubanks, #4 Kincaid. But the rest are lovely, too. Have a great day!

Oh my word, the dog beds are *darling*! I love the canopies, they are all beautiful. Personally, I’m not good under one, that’s just my wacky claustrophobia showing though, I know so many people who have them and they look grand.

Sending you a smile,
tp

i have never slept under a canopy so it would be trippy for me. but oh how i would love a mini bed for my bellaluna! she would fit in perfectly with those two shihtzus but she would steal the show with her good looks!!!

i am recording and rehearsing today so i will share a song with you soon.

rock on, sugar.

So many to love; Ralph Lauren, Barry Dixon, Mary McDonald and the luscious one with the gilded canopy, serene color scheme and antiue furniture…Dreamy.
Best…Victoria

That Ralph Lauren image is one of my favorites. A canopied bed was all the rage when I was growing up. I couldn’t wait to put one in my daughters room when she had her first big girl bed. There is something so romantic about a canopy. Your guests will rest well!

Love it. All the designs are creating royal expressions. Actually the wall designing idea really inspired me and I think its all for the vinyl paper adhered on the walls to give them fresh look. Vinyl papers are easily available or you can create them according to your designs by taking full guidelines and help online.

All of the scenarios are beautiful in their own way, but I am especially drawn to Traditional Home’s take on the bed crown. I think the understated elegance of the pastels and solid taupe bedding are especially appealing for a guest room. The subdued color scheme and the simplicity of the details along with the added touch of the embroidered monogrammed pillow are my idea of perfection! Thanks for the wonderful array of ideas! Lisa L.

I never realized how much I love this look until I started drooling over this post, now I want to redo my bedroom and we just finished it a few months ago, not what my husband will want to hear!
All the rooms are so beautiful and feel so peaceful, espeically love the rooms by Eubanks and Cathy Kincaid. Such classic spaces. I would sleep like a baby in a space like that!

Very pretty all of them, although I personally would prefer those that are more tailored and neat. Of course, in my eyes Mrs Howard can do no wrong!

Just stunning. I have to save this post because I hope to redo my bedroom and would love to incorporate some kind of crown or canopy. I love the ones with a little print and solid bedding. All beautiful examples of what a master retreat should look like, Wonderful job Tina.

These are all gorgeous. The Bentancourt room is my favorite. I remember the first time I saw it in Southern Accents. Lovely post, Tina. I know your bedroom and guest room will be beautiful!

Hello Tina!

I love this look! I have a room in my house done in black and cream toile that has a canopy over the daybed. I love it! It is my favorite room in the house.

I dream of having an old fashioned bed, with bed curtains and hangings that you pull closed at night..

Love them all!

Hello, Tina!

How are you doing, my beautiful friend? I’ve been missing your posts. We’re having a very busy summer!!!

I love canopy beds. Choose classic fabrics and they will always look beautiful.

Lots of love to you,

Luciane at HomeBunch.com

The pup canopy at the end was priceless! I love the look of canopies, really creates the feel of a bedroom retreat! very gorgeous! The movie Ever After features some gorgeous old French canopies!

Those are all so pretty! While I love them all, I think the puppy canopies are my fave (although my diva pooch would still prefer my bed to even a posh one of her own!)

Go for it!! This would just work so well in your gorgeous home too. I LOVE the flowy, billowy fabric and the daybed too. Had to laugh at the dogs – and I thought mine was spoiled! My hairstylist breeds and shows those dogs – he never owns less than 6 at any given time. Can you imagine? xo

I love the photos! Canopy beds are really great and romantic-looking. The design on the beds looks as though a princess sleeps in them. A romantic canopy coupled with a really soft mattress is indeed the perfect formula for a sleeping beauty. Haha. 🙂
