Hi and happy Wednesday afternoon to you! I have been busy, busy, busy between houseguests, fun day trips, lots of work and some aggravation courtesy of Apple……speaking of,  I almost feel like a bonafide Apple expert. My computer had a total melt down, though Macs never get “viruses” , it doesn’t mean that the files do not get corrupted which is exactly what happened. I took it upon myself to, after being gone all day yesterday to figure things out myself late last night into the wee hours of the morning. Oh boy…..it was quite an experience! The good news is I am back in business without having had to buy a new computer, but have a new operating system, Snow Leopard and being one who does not like change, its going to take a little getting used to.

Moving on…..Busy week for me, had a wonderful visit with my sister and her family, lots of fun things this week…..its a week devoted to “me” and having fun and finally cherishing what little is left of summer! Was out in beautiful Southampton which was a blast, I always fulfill my retail therapy fantasies when in the super chic world of the Hampton’s. Going into the city Friday, heading out to a very special horse farm (will take pictures) with a friend for a fun day trip  and a few tidbits happening at the house as well as in my shop! So lets get rolling……

Remember the darling Sailormade bracelets I featured a week or so ago? Well guess what…..unbeknowst to me, they read my blog! How cool is that! Going a step further, they are offering a wonderful giveaway…..can you say awesome! The lucky winner will win one of the two brackets below(your choice). To be eligible all you have to do is visit Sailormade, check out their wonderful products, come back here and tell me a fave. The lucky winner will be announced on Friday!

And hot off the presses…check out this SUPER CHIC picture my reader just sent me, telling me she just ordered two Sailormade bracelets after I posted about them last week, does she have style or what! I may need to copy!

Here is a little blurb for you that shares Sailormade’s inspiration for the Brummel Bracelet.

“The Brummel bracelet by Sailormade combines high-performance sailing rope with the ingenious design of a brummel hook as the fastener. This popular hardware has been used for over a century aboard small and large sailing vessels to securely attach lines, sheets and flag halyards. The hook is connected by aligning each opening at a right angle to its mate. When attached and under load, the Brummel hooks remain firmly fastened. This triple-wrap rope bracelet looks great, on your wrist and in the water!

Sailormade is the tangible result of a dream hatched by two friends with a passion for life on the water and a love of great design.”

Speaking of cool things and the Hampton’s, one store I always find something in is Roberta Roller Rabbit, chic colorful and fun tunics that are really affordable. So many wonderful vibrant prints, you feel happier wearing them!  Click here to visit her wonderful site. Here are a few faves…..

And then of course I always have to get something from Gretchen Scott, long my favorite go to source for great little cotton dresses that double as cover ups and a seemingly endless array of tunics in all kinds of fabulous prints. Here’s a peek at her things….

LOVE this robe…..its soooo soft!
House biz…..got my gorgeous drapes up in my main powder room! Now we are awaiting the countertop/sink/faucet, need to put up the mirror and we are done..woo hoo! I got the best pictures that I could. Really happy with them!

(I know I know lots of pictures you know I get carried away)!
And moving along in the back powder room too….wallpaper not yet up but got the darling gingham silk drapes up and really loving the way it warms up the bathroom. Here’s a sneak peek of the room in progress.

Heres the wallpaper

As I am waiting for a long long time (hear that Thomas O Brien) for my sconces, which will be antiques by the time they arrive, I am trying to wrap up other small things in my bathroom. One thing that I needed to do was to order florettes/rosettes for the corners of my mirror. I knew what I wanted but couldn’t find it save for the usual glass or crystal florettes you see everywhere. i wanted something silver and old and “lacey” looking. And by golly, I found it!
Take a look……………..

Though I am of course doing silver…..I tried a few different sizes

The little wire is just holding it on temporarily until I decide

You know I always love to throw in a little something about food, right? Well……this is too good to not share, so I made this the other night and lets just say I was tempted to tell my family it was horrible so they wouldn’t want any and would be content with a sandwich but I am not that cruel! Next time I know to double up on the recipe however!
Risotto
You know the key to almost any good risotto is lots of fresh parmesan, yum!

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Parmesan, Romano, Or Asiago Cheese (or A Mixture Of All Three)
  • 3 cloves (to 4 Cloves) Garlic
  • 1/2 whole Large Onion
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon Butter
  • 1 pound Arborio Rice
  • 7 cups (to 8 Cups) Chicken Broth
  • 1 cup (to 1 1/2 Cups) Heavy Cream
  • 1 Tablespoon (to 2 Tablespoons) Chives, Chopped
  • Salt And Pepper, to taste

Preparation Instructions

Grate 2 cups of cheese. Peel and finely dice 3 to 4 cloves of garlic. Dice ? of a large onion.
Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat and add 1 tablespoon of Olive Oil. Then add 1 tablespoon of butter. Throw in the garlic and onion and saut? for a couple of minutes until the onion is translucent.
Add 1 pound of Arborio rice and stir to coat the rice thoroughly. Adding 1 cup at a time, add 7-8 ounces of chicken broth, stirring constantly after each addition. As soon as it appears that the rice has absorbed each helping of broth, add in the next helping. Do not stop stirring. This process will take at least 20 minutes. Rice is done when it no longer has a hard bite.
When more of the broth is absorbed pour in 1 to 1 ? cups of heavy cream. Next add the grated cheese and stir thoroughly. Add in plenty of fresh cracked pepper and about 1 to 2 tablespoons of chopped chives. Add salt to taste.
Make it. Make it now. Eat! Enjoy!

A little store biz….though I am phasing out the Seda France candles, I am going full steam ahead with my crystal hurricane candles with the worlds most heavenly gardenia scent. These are amazing, have extra long burn times, are triple scented which means even one can permeate a room and are simply spectacular to look at! They will all be up and available next week but if you want to order now, as usual just email me to [email protected]. A few new shapes/sizes coming in which is very exciting, and here they are
This is the gorgeous 50 oz very large about 12″ and empty its quite a show piece too…..

A new one, even taller and holds 60 oz of gardenia heaven!

A new style for the mini, about 5-6″ tall

Another mini new style

A current style, beautiful classic urn

Another current style, elegant lacey crystal

A new mini style…so pretty!
So that’s about it for today….will be back on Friday with a winner for the darling Sailormade bracelet. Hope you are having a great week and enjoying summers fleeting days…the back to school banter is getting louder and the clothes are getting darker, a sure sign fall is near. Do hope you enjoy these last few weeks of summer! Thanks to Sailormade for their fun giveaway and to all of you for stopping in for a visit!  Until next time……

Hi I missed you this morning, I share your wish to savor more of summer, this has been a fast one for us too! I am in love with your bathrooms, I think as a guest you might have to gently nudge me out as it could be hard to leave those rooms. Just beautiful in every way.
Love the candles also, they are so unique and think they would make perfect Christmas gifts. Count me in for the giveaway please, love them all but especially the leather endeavor, its great looking.

Good for you fixing your computer, I have no patience but my nephew works for the Geek squad so we get lots of “free help” 🙂

Hi Tina!
The bathrooms are ALL so stunning and coming together beautifully. You must be so thrilled, would love you to come make over my bathrooms! They need help and with your eye I know you could work some magic.
Love those candles, I think I have to treat myself. Fun clothes too, love tunics, wear them all summer long (great arm coverup too).

The bracelets are adorable also, am sure my niece would love that for Christmas. Last risotto is one of my husbands favorite foods (half Italian). This looks wonderful, I do make it, its an old recipe from Ina Garten which is a staple but its always fun to try new ones too. Thanks for the perfect reading material with my afternoon coffee!

Oh! I am so excited!!! I have pinned several of these bracelets. I really would love to own the ENDEAVOUR SINGLE in Navy blue and gold. I live on a lake and boat and hope to sail someday soon! It is the perfect accessory! Thanks to Sailormade and your blog for hosting the contest.

WoW! Great bracelets and necklaces. My favorite is the Camden Wrap in red.
Tina, I also love your new drapes and curtains in bathrooms.

Cute bracelets but not my style, so no need to count me in but what IS my style is YOUR STYLE!
You are so talented, did you do all the work yourself, are you a designer or have one working for you? Your choices are just picture perfect. I am in love with every single bathroom and who makes the silver flowers for the mirror? I have one in my dining room and I love those.
Thanks for always bringing such beauty to my day.

Hi Tina! Wow! Good fior you getting the computer working! So frustrating when you can’t figure out what the problem is, right? Your window treatments are stunning.. such beautiful fabric and rich colors. Glad you are enjoying your summer fun in the Hamptons! I’ve never been but it’s on my bucket list! Pretty dresses and tunics! I’m at the office but need to order a new candle and a few other things.

Enjoy your evening!

Hi Tina – glad you are back up and running! I love the way your bathroom fabric picks up the color in the tile…it looks cozier every time you post new pictures – you are really transitioning it from a house to a home! 🙂

Hi Tina! I am in LOVE with both your powder rooms, but especially the yellow – that shade/wallpaper combination is GORGEOUS, and so perfect with the always timeless elegance of the carrera marble!
On the bracelet front, my favorite thing on the Sailormade website is the Brown Leather Endeavor bracelet – although between the 2 here on your blog, I like the red double one best 🙂 I had actually already gone to Sailormade’s site and explored a little after your last post about them, so I love that they read that post too and offered the giveaway! Hope the rest of your week is fab – can’t wait to hear about the weekend adventures!
Thanks,
Liz B. from Miami

The powder room is to DIE for!!! There isn’t anything I don’t love!
And the wallpaper for the second bath….Wow!
The bracelets …..Oh I want to WIN!!!!
The rosettes…too, too chic!!!

I envy all the shopping you have around you. Grew up in Garden City and I am now in the Georgian country side……Atlanta is fairly close..but the traffic is the worst.

Hi new to your blog and am addicted. I have already gone back a few months, many more to go, love your taste, it is perfect.
Your bathrooms are dream bathrooms, am sure you will have magazines beating down your door to get a spread on your incredible home. I love the fabrics, flooring and wallpapers. They are amazing. I also love the candle line, and would love to buy a few. The containers are so beautiful.
Do you mind sharing the source for the silver flowers for the mirrors? I really love them and would to order a few myself.
Cute giveaway.
Thanks, Stacy M.

Hi Tina, I love the progress on all of your powder rooms – the details and color combinations on the window coverings are all uniquely beautiful and elegant! It really is a treat to watch as everything comes to fruition! I am equally excited about the new additions to your store and am making mental notes for my wish list!! Thanks for so much inspiration! Love the Endeavor wrap in navy!! Lisa L.

Hard to choose, but the white Endeavor and Blue Leather are probably my favourites! Your Risotto sounds wonderful – I’m definitely going to give that a try. and your powder room curtains are magnificent! x Sharon

I think I’d go for the Solent. Partly because you could wear this with any navy outfit but especially with jeans (that’s every day then!). Also because I live in UK and the Solent is the stretch of water between the coast and the Isle of Wight near to us. My daughter is California and I would love her to have this bracelet to remind her of home.

Hi Tina, Not sure whether this giveaway is open to us Brits, but just in case, I too love the single white Endeavour with the gold clasp.
Regardless of whether I’m eligible or not, I just wanted to say how fabulous your drapes are. The fabrics work so well, and I just adore the fringing. Details like this make a room come truly alive. You have inspired me to rethink my drapes at home, as they can obviously make such a difference to a room.
A beautiful post as always. Have been away for a while, so enjoying having a catch up with old posts.
best wishes,
Paula x

Congratulations for getting your computer fixed yourself I wish I could do that sometimes. Love your drapes and silk shade they look wonderful and I love the mix. I’m always looking for different tunics for the summer and now is the perfect time to stock up for next summer. OK you posted about to many things and now I can’t rememebr what else….lol.

I don’t know where to begin…. your home continues to look unbelievably beautiful. Your choices in wall coverings and fabrics are amazing. It’s such fun to check in and see how things are coming along.
The recipe for risotto…. I will be trying that!!! How can it not be delicious? Fresh Parm, cream, butter??
And Sailormade. I have been eyeing the single Navy Endeavour with the gold clasp all summer! How exciting would that be!!!!!
~Cheryl

Yes, please count me in!! Adorable bracelet. I am swooning, drooling, panting over that powder room. That wallpaper with those window treatments are GORGEOUS. Freakin’ eye candy! Where is HGTV? Are they not reading your blog? Can’t they see what a hit your home, shop, cooking would be? You need an agent, a book, a t.v. show…I see your name in lights! xo

GOOD MORNING TINA!

Oh dearest, I so know the BUSY SUMMER LIFE! One whole day seems to fly by to the next and though I have been productive, it is all going way too fast.

Sorry to hear you have had computer problems….that only adds to the stress of wanting to get things done!

Like always, your home is stunningly beautiful. Your powder room is fabulous and your home MUST be in a magazine some time!!! BIG HUGS TO YOU! Anita

I really enjoyed this post with the wide spread of topics: fashion, interior design, competition, recipe, products. Great. I love those little mirror rosettes. I would love to know not only where you buy these but how they will be attached?

The Chillmark and Winch bracelets are just about perfect — a little preppy and polished without being stuffy. Thanks for sharing!

I think I might have ADD, I have my mind racing now from redoing all my bathrooms to buying gorgeous tunics, to knowing were you got the rosettes for your bathroom to wanting to make risotto and buy those candles, phew…you know how to get my morning in high gear!
LOVE the bathrooms totally magnificent. The candles YES! I will be ordering them for sure.
Last love the Sailormade line, what a great concept. I visited them and really like the Endeavor style but they are all really great looking.

I LOVE these bracelets!! It was hard to narrow it down to 1 favorite, but I think the Endeavor Wrap in Marine Blue is my fav!

My favorite is the Solvent Wrap in navy for hubby and Endeavour Wrap for myself (can’t decide which color-love them all). Your drapes in the bathrooms are so pretty.

Where o’ where did you find the rosettes for the mirror??? I have been searching high and low for this finishing touch for my bathroom mirror! Hope you can help me locate these!
Lillian Amplo

I opt for the Endeavor single in white cable.

The lacey rosette is soooo feminine – I would definitely use those. The main powder room is elegant but I prefer the powder room with the gingham shades-just love that wallpaper, the colors, the gingham…

Give Teddy a hug & kiss…

Tina,
I love how you pack so much goodness into one wonderful post! First…so happy you are having fun with family and friends and enjoying these last bits of summer!
