Say hello to the new kids in town and a little store biz!

Hi there. Such a busy week over here. Finally today, I am not busy dong something every hour and will have a few hours to just “chill” (though that really means catching up with my looong list of errands).
I was so excited to finally get some of the tole pieces I had told you about a few weeks ago. Few things in life get me this excited at this stage of the game. Just cannot seem to totally squelch my thirst for this stuff….so having an online store is a great way to “have my cake and eat it too”, you  know my motto “one for me and one for you”! This is an exceptional line of stunning handpainted tole pieces. I looooove this line. If you are like me and love chinoiserie, tole and all those kinds of things, then you will love this!

I only got in a handful of each item so these will not be going online right away, if you want to inquire about something, just email me. Click here.

Beautiful planter with scenery and you know how I feel about black…..
And how about this gorgeous green tole chinoiserie decorative “jar”….its a love for me!
This is what makes me happy!

And this stunning moss green lamp with beautiful handpainted metal shade…so beautiful!

Its all in the details…..

LOVE this color!!
And how pretty is this cache pot? Love the detailing and the scalloped design, so classic!

Same pot also available in a smaller tall planter…..could see orchids or moss orbs in these.

Love love love these beautiful planters, the detailing is soooooo pretty!

And

This is such an elegant wastebasket, and you know I love this with a white hydrangea in a blue and white dish!

Another beautiful classic wastepaper basket…so elegant in black!

These darling planters come in pairs, so pretty!
Moving onto porcelains…….I was so excited to get 8 more of this spectacular hexagon planter. I had gotten a bunch of these way back last spring, and sold out almost right away. I wasn’t able to get more until recently and here they are!! In stock and ready to ship. Below is a picture of my own pair and an azalea topiary. Love these!

And this oversized soup tureen is a beauty. Comes with the wooden stand love the foo dog lid.

As pretty at Christmas time with amaryllis and pinecones
As it is in the spring with a beautiful white azalea topiary…….

Love this gorgeous oversized orange and blue Imari bowl, comes with stand. Its a beauty!

My gorgeous napkin rings finally got the recognition they deserve! No longer under new additions they have earned their own little section on my online store. I will be continuously adding new styles to the shop, but for now most of the ones available can be seen online. They really are such special keepsakes, I am so happy to be carrying them. Click here to visit.

I have one tole tray for sale It is $115.00.  It says dark green but both my husband and I think its black or else its one heck of a dark green. You know the drill if you are interested, just email me!

My silver line continues to be one of my strongest categories. Proof that beautiful classic silver pieces are always in style I am excited to be getting about 6-7 new items that are just stupendous. Really gorgeous. And the long awaited flower bowl is finally coming! I am getting in a limited amount, 12 pieces of this very popular item! I know several were waiting on it…….

Lots more coming…will be sure to keep you posted! New wonderful loot will be arriving in the next few months including a new batch of dough bowls sometime in the next few weeks. If you want a dough bowl, definitely email me. They generally sell out within hours of my post. These are exceptional both in color, condition and size.

As always email me with any questions/inquires. Click here to email me. Thanks for stopping in to pay me a visit. Hope you have a fabulous day!

Lusting for leopard!

First thanks so very much for all of your many and truly fabulous contributions to my first “Can we talk” post. It was all about products and boy I have a list a mile long of things I need and am going to try based on your rave reviews. So thank you! If you didn’t’ catch it you must check it out. Click here.

Secondly,  happy Tuesday to you. How was your weekend?  Ours was great, busy, got a teeny bit of snow and now I am gearing up for a busy week. Lots going on over here. On top of my green fetish, I am also crazy for a little leopard love. Just a touch here or there, nothing over the top. Give me a beautiful velvet leopard chair, ottoman or even a few pillows…and you will hear me roar with delight!

It’s such a classic, if you look back at homes from 50 years ago…..you will see leopard. And I am quite certain if you look ahead another 50 years, leopard will still be out there. I like the fact that its so neutral, its at home in the most formal of spaces as it is in more transitional homes or even very modern ones. What about you? Is it a like or love? Lets take a look at leopard and how beautiful it can make a room…..

This beautiful ottoman is what sort of stirred up my inner leopard lusting……Chinoiserie Chic

This is such a rich and masculine space…love how the leopard pops against the drama of the dark accents, Elle Decor

House Beautiful lets the beautiful ottoman be the focal point in this monochromatic room…..

Madelaine  Castaing’s beautiful stool sits atop this decadent leopard carpeting…….

This room is a monument to some serious leopard love….but how fabulous it is! Tumblir

Miles Redd….got it so right in this beautiful room

Renea Abbot uses animal prints as the focal point in an otherwise monochromatic space

Leopard walls? Why not! Arch Digest

I do think the idea of a small accent piece like this from Sally Wheat via Laurie Perez is a wonderful way to bring in just a pop of leopard into a room.

Love the leopard pillow on this fabulous green sofa….so chic! Palmer Weiss

Absolutely love the way its used int this gorgeous room! Mona Ross Berman

A perfect example with how just a subtle touch is so effective, a neckroll is a perfect accent!
So sumptuous! Mary McDonald

Candace Cavanaugh designed this very elegant dining room

An open airy and dramatic space with the four leopard chairs,House Beautiful

Alexa Hampton shows how versatile this fabric is in this more modern space

So elegant, especially when paired with blue and white!

Talk about a serious statement piece! Charles Spada

Love the softly hued leopard runner on the stairs….works so well with the warm woods. Elle Decor

LOVE this chair! Leave it up to Ralph as in Ralph Lauren, but of course!

Tony Duquette…..how opulent!

Joe Nye added a pair of leopard pillows to this eclectic space…

Leopard carpeting really makes this fabulous red space, Stark

Used as a stair runner, Metropolitan Home

Even in the most traditional room, leopard carpeting is right at home

Velvet, antique mirror and leopard…..OH YES!

Love the colors and think the leopard and tiger used here is spot on! Arch Digest

A touch in a dark masculine room channels a Ralph Lauren vibe…..which I absolutely love!

This is how I think I like it best, as a small accent on the pillows and an ottoman

And who says its has to be black and tan! I love it in all its many colors…a fun take on a timeless classic!
And if all this leopard lusting has you craving some…..here’s a few inexpensive ways to add some leopard into your life!
Cozy flannel blankets from Ballard (I just ordered one)
These rainboots are so much fun. Now on sale for  $39 at Ballard!!
Snag this chic leopard cashmere cardigan from Dolce and Gabanna

Add a pair of leopard velvet pillows to a room for instant impact! 1stdibs

Add a  cashmere leopard scarf to a simple outfit, it gives it an immediate wow factor!
Another very simple way to give even the simplest of outfits a bit of panache, J Crew

Or change things up with a fun personalized leopard phone case, click here.
Well..this should give you your leopard dose for the day! Is this something you would ever incorporate into your home? Wardrobe? Or do you already? Again for me, it has to be a small dose, but I do think in the right room used in the right way, it can be quite beautiful. Ditto for wardrobes, I own a leopard scarf, leopard flats and a leopard print velvet jacket. Only use one at a time (naturally) but when paired with something very classic and simple…the effect is really quite pretty! So, as usual I  would love to know your thoughts……..enjoy your Tuesday!

Can we talk?

Hello there and happy Sunday evening to you!  I am starting something new…. a new series, “Can we talk”. Thiis will be a post for all of us to get in on the conversation. I believe and say it often that one of the huge perks of blogging is the incredible exchange of information, tips, advice, its truly amazing. I personally have learned so much and the same thing from my readers.

So this will be a day to discuss anything and everything. It could be interior design trends, movies, books, beauty products, clothing trends, design tips, you name it…nothing is off limits (well I don’t really mean nothing:)

So today’s first post in this series is being kicked off with the subject of beauty products. Lets face it…we all love them, have them and use them. Some more than others. Some rely on Burt’s Bees lip balm and maybe a moisturizing whereas others have an entire arsenal that could make up every face in a small African country. And to my male readers……you are included here!  I know my “non product loving’ husband could benefit from your expertise!  I personally love products, I am truly a kid in a candy shop when I walk into a store like Sephora….that is where my ADD really comes to light:)

So…below are 7 products I use and buy religiously. I love them, have used them for years and they are just part of my everyday routine. So, now its your turn. What are your go to products? What can you just not live without? Makeup, skin care, body care, hair care….you name it. We want to know!

Thanks as always for stopping by and sharing your two cents. It’s always such a treat to read your comments and hear what you have to say. I must say my readership not only has superb taste but are might savvy too! Wishing you a great Sunday evening!

Which would you choose?

Good morning and breaking news…..we finally got snow! Granted not much but enough to coat the ground and make everything look just a little more beautiful. Went out and snapped a few pics before its a thing of the past (and with the sun starting to show its pretty face, that will be sooner than later)! So went out in my robe and snow boots and snapped a few pics which I had to share before I begin my post……

Mr. Teddy having a lazy morning…….hey its Saturday afterall and you know he has had a long work week:)

And then he finally decided to mosey on outside….and he perched himself like the Queen King of Sheeba…..

OK, getting back to my post …….here’s the scenario, you are invited to a really swanky cocktail party.  Truth is, that is the case with us…..we are invited to a really nice party in a few weeks and I am in a bit of a panic over what to wear. Think I am going to play it safe with a beautiful black lace dresss I have and I will dress it up with some pretty jewelry.

Getting back to this fantasy soiree…..Lets pretend in this case, the weather is not the icebox we are in right now, but lets say its spring-y weather…beautiful, mild weather.
You want something that best reflects your personal style….whatever that might be. Colors? Up to you. You want to make an impression and best part about this wonderful exercise….is that the bodies shown are included! Wouldn’t that be nice? So give no worry to arm issues, waist being too enhanced, a dress being short (because don’t forget you have the perfect legs)!! Yep you get the perfect body along with the dress, sound fair? Thought you might agree! So go ahead….tell me which one gets your vote!

Mid week musings….

Hi there. How is your week going? Mine is going well…despite being down one day from a migraine, its been peachy. Been making major progress on the home front. Ordering my carpet for my bedroom…so excited! Ordered furniture for loggia….doubly excited! Got a new pair of ginger jars…woo hoo! So lets get started with whats happening in my little corner of the world……I am (clearly) in many directions here, a little bit of this and a bit of that……sit down this is a long one:)
You know I love sharing great recipes….tried these this weekend and let me just say they are worth making…absolutely DE-LISH!
Manger by Mimi   http://mimithorisson.com/

Jerusalem Artichokes, Fennel and Porcini Mushroom Tartlets

*serves 4
newPostLabel_Ingredients

  • 4-5 Jerusalem artichokes, peeled and sliced into rondelles (round slices)
  • 1 fennel, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, sliced finely
  • 450 g/ 1 pound c?pes/porcini mushrooms (or any of your favourite mushrooms)
  • 1 glass of red wine (plus you can add 1 more glass of red wine to sip while you make this) DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP..VERY IMPORTANT! added by me
  • A handful of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 roll puff pastry (230 g/ 1/2 pound) or you can make your home-made version here
  • Olive oil (for frying)
  • 30 g/ 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 2 slices of country bread (discard the crust, place the bread in a food processor to get breadcrumbs)
  • Parmesan shavings (I went generous here)
  • Coarse salt and black pepper

newPostLabel_Instructions

  1. Peel Jerusalem artichokes, slice them into rondelles/round slices. Slice fennel coarsely. In a frying pan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil, fry the vegetables on a medium heat for 15-20 minutes, stirring frequently. Season with coarse salt and pepper. The vegetables should be cooked yet on the crunchy side.
  2. Preheat the oven to 180 ?C/ 350?F.
  3. Prepare the pastry base. Cut out 4 circles with a pastry cutter (I use a bowl to draw the circles) of approx 10-12 cm (3-5 inches). Prick pastry with a fork all over, place on a parchment-lined baking tray, and cover with a another piece of parchment paper. To avoid them to puff up too much, place another baking tray on top (or any rectangle shaped cake tin, grill etc) for 10 minutes. Then remove the parchment paper with the added weight and bake them bare for another 6-7 minutes, or until golden.
  4. While the pastry is in the oven, heat some olive oil and start frying the chopped onion and garlic for 5 minutes on a medium heat. Add the breadcrumbs and continue frying (add a bit of olive oil if it is too dry) until all the ingredients are golden and slightly crunchy. Set aside.
  5. Chop the mushrooms finely, save 2 or 3 full mushrooms to garnish in the end. In a frying pan, heat 1 tbsp olive oil, fry the mushrooms for 5 minutes, season with salt and pepper, add red wine and leave to reduce for about 2 minutes. Set aside. Fry the remaining mushrooms (coarsely chopped) for a few minutes in 1 tbsp butter.
  6. When the pastry is ready, garnish with the red wine mushrooms, followed by the Jerusalem artichokes and fennel, a few coarsely chopped mushrooms. Return to oven for 2 minutes, just to reheat slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley, a small pinch of coarse salt and Parmesan shavings. Serve immediately.

Even though spring is far away….it doesn’t keep me from dreaming about all the pretty clothes. I am incorporating more fashion and food (two other loves of mine) into my blog besides interiors, though that remains my focus.  I needed to replenish my “tops dept” so started looking. Here’s a few recent faves…..high and low:) Anything strike your fancy?

Speaking of clothes…I impulsively bought this dress (unuusal for me since I rarely buy dresses unless for a specific event), have no idea for what but I just fell in love with it. I think its so elegant, a throwback to an updated old fashioned way of dressing in the most ladylike way……spring here I come! (Red Valentino)

If I can look half this good in it…best deal ever! Now gotta go find those shoes…….

Finally caught up this week and saw a few movies. OK Le Mis was amazing. I know for some its long and they feel the singing/musical idea doesn’t translate as well on the big screen. Yes nothing can beat seeing Le Mis live on Boradway but I have to say I totally got swept up in the movie and Hugh and Anne in particular were fabulous. I really enjoyed it. Then we saw Broken City ( my husband really likes Mark Walhberg) and it was one of those sit on the edge of your seats kind of movies……good and intense but hard to follow at times. Catherine Zeta Jones looked great and very glamorous…happy to see her working again.  I also saw Parental Guidance and it was really corny, but I have to say I really enjoyed Bette and Billy and found them both to be really hysterical and endearing.

If there is one movie I would unequivocally recommend, it would be a French film my parents raved about and it did not disappoint not one bit. The Well Digger’s daughter….. it was MAGNIFIQUE! You must see it if you enjoy foreign films, want to get carried away hearing the beautiful French language being spoken, love beautiful stories sans violence, nudity and blood and if you want to soak up the magnificence of Provence. This is the movie for you….here’s the trailer. I cannot wait to see it again!

Cannot recommend it enough……

Love when my readers share whats happening in their lives with me. When I did my post on Which would you choose for  Golden Globe dresses one of my readers, sent me a butch of pics on her own little premiere that she hosted at home..and let me tell you no stones were unturned. Francine Ingrassia knows how to throw a party! They went all out….so here they are on their own red carpet!

The e-vite invitation, love the wording!

And the red carpets awaits the lucky guests…..

They look red carpet ready! Move over Angelina and Brad……….

Fun group! Looks like a great party to me!
 Highlights……beautiful!
All of her pictures were taken by photographer, Will Cadena.

The house feels very bare with all the Christmas decor down…kind of sad:( So I have been busy  adding flowers here and there….filled one of my really big dough bowls with a bunch of hydrangeas and  and it looks so fresh and happy. Then I bought these gardenia topiaries and am so excited as it looks like there is tons of buds, planted them in my blue and white. Also filled one of my very large dough bowls with a bunch of potted flowers and it instantly made the kitchen feel alive. Yes, flowers make me very happy. And finally really starting to wrap up my bedroom which is soooo exciting. Found some fabrics that are absolute keepers.Take a look….

The gardenia topiaries are large but are look great on my island……with my giant round bowl in the center

Love fresh fruit…..we always have it around here. Made up this small little fruit tray for friends stopping by….

First bloom!

Filled my really big dough bowl with this pretty potted flower arrangment

 Things are blooming around here!

My bloggy friend Pinky, sent me this saying and I quote “she thinks my husband and I would love this”. Ugh….that’s a serious understatement. But I can imagine its the price of a mid sized home! However it is fun to dream and when you dream….might as well dream big, right? In this case literally and figuratively. So for all of you whose husbands are retired and “hang around” a bit more than you might like, here is your answer. Feast your eyes on this, a magical cure to get your husband out of your hair on a permanent basis:) You REALLY have to see this……..

And finally a little store biz…I am really into decorative boxes lately. The great thing is their versatility, they are wonderful atop a stack of coffee table books on a coffee table, nice on a console next to a pair of lamps, a pair work beautifully on a dining table, and I love them on end tables and nightstands. So I added a bunch of beautiful tole and porcelain and ormolu decorative boxes to my site. They can be found under porcelains, click here. Take a look……..

This beautiful new ginger jar is en route to my online shop within the next few weeks. Its a love for me! Love the shape, the foo dog top…its a keeper!

So that’s whats cooking over here, I know I know…this is like “pretty things ADD” kind of all over the place but its all good!  Frigid temps..finally supposed to get some snow on Friday. Its about time! How about you? What’s new in your world? Wishing you a fabulous day…..

Jerusalem Artichokes, Fennel and Porcini Mushroom Tartlets

*serves 4
newPostLabel_Ingredients

  • 4-5 Jerusalem artichokes, peeled and sliced into rondelles (round slices)
  • 1 fennel, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 1 garlic clove, sliced finely
  • 450 g/ 1 pound c?pes/porcini mushrooms (or any of your favourite mushrooms)
  • 1 glass of red wine (plus you can add 1 more glass of red wine to sip while you make this) DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP..VERY IMPORTANT! added by me
  • A handful of chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 roll puff pastry (230 g/ 1/2 pound) or you can make your home-made version?here
  • Olive oil (for frying)

I am incorporating more fashion and food (two other loves of mine) into my blog besides interiors, though that remains my focus.?

Catherine Zeta Jones looked great and very glamorous…happy to see her working again.? I also saw Parental Guidance and it was really corny, but I have to say I really enjoyed Bette and Billy and found them both to be really hysterical and endearing.

?

If there is one movie I would unequivocally recommend, it would be a French film my parents raved about and it did not disappoint not one bit. The Well Digger’s daughter….. it was MAGNIFIQUE! You must see it if you enjoy foreign films, want to get carried away hearing the beautiful French language being spoken, love beautiful stories sans violence, nudity and blood and if you want to soak up the magnificence of Provence. This is the movie for you….here’s the trailer. I cannot wait to see it again!

?

Cannot recommend it enough……

The house feels very bare with all the Christmas decor down…kind of sad:( So I have been busy? adding flowers here and there….filled one of my really big dough bowls with a bunch of hydrangeas and? and it looks so fresh and happy.
