Hi and happy Sunday to you. Feel like I been “missing in action” a little this week….its been an exceptionally busy week, and this coming week promises to be more of the same. So I am really looking forward to a total day of downtime today, to catch up, take a deep breath, take Mr. Teddy for a long walk and maybe even catch up on some reading.

How about you? Is the weather finally thawing out over there? As the weather seems to be getting milder, there are small signs of spring sure enough blooming around here, small signs but signs! I have finally started venturing outside again after what seems like an endless winter, took a few pics along the way of what’s going on……..

I started planting my planters inside when the spring bug bit, even if I couldn’t get outside, I was determined to feel a little spring inside……

Hard to believe just two weeks ago we had this…….

Then the thaw finally came and Mr. Teddy reclaimed his perch outside………

So I went for a long walk on our property and only then was I struck by the degree of devastation from Sandy, I lost count of how many trees had been lost, and whose very old trunks had to be cut down into firelogs…..I think we have enough firewood to furnish a small country, it was unbelievable! This is only a fraction…….

Everywhere I walked, there was another neatly stacked collection of wood, a bittersweet reminder of Sandy’s destruction…..

 Teddy missed his walks!

Teddy next to a huge uprooted tree, this gives you some perspective on the size of some of these lost trees!

And though we are a long ways away from things looking green and spring-y, slowly that pale straw color is giving way to more green…..

Not sure if I showed you my new lantern (from Arte De Mexico) we had one made just to be sure we love it, and we do!

 The breakfast room side…..

 The first blooms……very exciting!

And finally for the first time, I sat here in the loggia with a book….it was so wonderful and peaceful, my new favorite spot, that I think I am going to be spending a lot of time in!  I ordered new furniture due here in a few weeks…..

So that’s a little peek into whats happening on the outside over here. Lots more to come, but it was so wonderful to finally get outside, breath in that fresh air, get a glimpse of a budding flower or two and take Teddy on his beloved walks that I know he has missed. Slowly we all come out of hibernation and I know the best is yet to come. Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!

T,
i have you beat….!
it snowed 2 nights ago.

i did not do well with this LONG winter.
i am sick of grey skies &
cold wet rain.
we don’t have any blooming flowers anywhere.

on a lighter note-
your home is looking fantastic.
your home feels like a mini BILTMORE Estate in ashville NC.

have a nice read and stay cozy.

tina-

your home is just so “beyond”. absolutely gorgeous and it looks so peaceful. i love that covered porch, wow! i think i might want to move my bed in there and call it a day, haha.

teddy is such a doll, that face so sweet. give him a big hug from his fans. and your potted urns just absolutely gorgeous. you have inspired me.

What a tragedy! All those trees! It is hard to fathom the devastation from so many miles away…the tremendous amount of loss. My heart is heavy for God’s creatures.
Your boxwood have come out of Winter beautifully…even after all the snow and cold. It’s always a relief to see your old plant friends when Spring marches back in! My boxwood parterre is Napoleon’s favorite place to piddle when Handsome Husband walks him! I try to walk him as often as possible! Our new rescue, Tallulah the English Bulldog, had never seen Winter. She had been locked in a basement cage at a wretched breeder’s home for her entire first 14 months of life. I am so grateful she is here with us now, learning about the world…and safe. πŸ™‚
Give Teddy kisses!

Tina it was snowing and sleeting on Friday and today it’s all gone. Our snow has finally melted off and for the first time this week Dylan was able to get back into his woods. You should have seen the size of his golden smile that was some kind of happy puppy! Your place looks amazing and I’m happy for you to be back sitting outside. It’s going to be close to sixty for us this week and I’m excited about getting outside myself. Enjoy your spring days!

OH WOW. I will pretend I am in that loggia with you Tina, just chatting it up, and taking a stroll with Mr. Teddy! Like you, we had a dumping on of snow two weeks ago and this morning, more sleet! But it is another gray morning, but a good book and tea is in order.

The stone, the greens, the iron lanterns, everything has a deep “organic” feel to it that I love. I also hope to continue writing my poetry from an honest and skillful approach so as to communicate beauty and observations of our world. Thank you for visiting and taking time out of your busy life to say hello.

PEACE AND FUN to you as you sit in your gorgeous loggia my dear! Anita

Oh my goodness. I am in awe by your home. I adore the fact that it is absolutely grand, but with the stacks of wood, sweet doug, heartfelt decorating, you have created an amazing HOME. Just so you know, we could probably fit about 10 of my house in yours πŸ™‚ I also love the patio. And the outdoor dining space. Ok, I could go on and on. We are cutting many trees this weekend. Sandy did a job here as well.

Thanks for the peek of your outside…can’t wait to see the transformation to
green in a few weeks time. It is lovely and inviting. Valerie

Tina, it is already hot and steamy here. I love all of your indoor plantings! Simply beautiful. Are the planters for sale in your store? I hope that you and Teddy have a wonderful walk and some rest on the loggia.

Have a great week, Elizabeth

Your home is absolutely stunning! It is going to be so enjoyable to watch you bring your special touch to the outside as well! Have a lovely, quiet Sunday.~~Angela

Tina we also finally have some mild weather over here, and it feels wonderful. Finally you see people jogging, walking their dogs, kids riding their bikes, at long last.

I just never tire of seeing your incredible home. I have not seen the outside (since I am newer to your blog) and my mouth is agape, just amazing. Teddy is so cute, we have a golden too, “Cabi” (short for cabnernet) and our cocker spaniel is you guessed it, Pinot (my husband is in the spirits/wine business). Goldens make the best pets, so docile and sweet.

I have seen others request it so am not going to feel funny but I would love for you to do a post on your kitchen. I have been pictures here and there but it is so gorgeous it would be make a wonderful post to see your kitchen on full display and find out how you went about the process. We are remodeling now and the kitchen is our newest project. BIG undertaking, exciting but I keep changing my mind on what I want.

Always always enjoy your blog. Just beautiful, also love those planters with the orchids.

Loved seeing Teddy’s sweet litte face and happy to see him back to doing what he loves most- lounging and surveying “his” property, hehe.
Tina, everything looks just incredible, and I know its going to only get better as things start to fill in. We are up to almost 78 here and loving every minute. The warmth is on the way, I assure you.
Thanks for sharing all the beauty.

I, too, would love that loggia, Tina. Being outdoors means so much to me. And, what a beautiful place to just sit and talk with friends or have a little dinner. Yesterday I worked in my yard all afternoon, could certainly feel the old muscles once inside. Today, I’m ready to go again. It’s just so refreshing to create something beautiful. xx’s

It’s so wonderful to see your dear Teddy roaming about without snow everywhere! Fresh air and sunshine can cure 90% of what ails me at any given moment, I am *so* happy spring is finally arriving. It’s a shame to realize how many trees were lost, ouch. (Insert sad face here.) On an up note, what you have planted looks beautiful, a sign of things to come!

Sending you a smile,
tp

Loved this post. So nice to see other parts of the country and how people spend down time! Unbelievable how much devastation Sandy caused!
Happy Sunday to you!

Hi Tina,

It feels spring-y in Manhattan. I hope you’re getting the same sunshine and warmer temps we are…I think you’re a bit further north tho…

Your house is really a castle and a work of art! So, so gorgeous. Thanks for letting us follow along as you’ll mold it into a masterpiece!

So sorry about your downed trees, the up side you cut them down and now have lots of firewood. The yard + house looks wonderful. Here in S. CA spring is on its way also, different than your spring but spring just the same. xxpeggybraswelldesign.com

Tina… love your inside plantings. I never have much luck with orchids but you inspire me. So sad about your trees. My Sista lost quite a few as well. Love your house as much from the outside as I do on the inside! Hope Spring weather arrives soon. Good luck with your busy week!

Tina,
Today was so chilly….I took a walk with a friend, thinking “where is Spring?!” I can’t believe it was just weeks ago we had snow on the ground! And, then earlier this week….so pretty!

Your new lantern is beautiful and I’m sure you are counting the days until you can read and relax in your loggia!!!

Hope it was a relaxing weekend!
xoxo Elizabeth

Wow its all so beautiful Tina. That loggia is AMAZING. I think I would pitch a small bed there and take afternoon naps. I love your planted urns too, beautiful job. Teddy is a darling, aren’t goldens the best?
