Leta Austin Foster….round 2!

Hi there…..and how was your Memorial Day weekend? Ours was not quite what we had planned, soggy weather and 50 degrees kept us from going away the first two days, so we stuck around and had dinner with friends, went on a friends boat, went to a winery and charming east end town when the weather finally cleared so it ended up being a lot of fun…even managed some down time around the house which is always a welcome treat.

Every now and then, a favorite designer of mine warrants a second post on his/her work. Leta, as she is known to me is one such designer. I am a huge huge fan of her timeless classic style, and having had a three hour phone conversation with her……..I can say with authority that beyond her talent,  she is a gem of a person and as kind, witty and full of life as they come. I see she has added some beautiful new rooms to her gorgeous portfolio so thought it was all worth sharing, I am certain you will agree! With offices in New York and Palm Beach, Leta travels all over the U.S. and turns houses into beautiful homes bearing the “Leta touch”.

She is probably one of the designers who most closely matches my own style and tastes, Cathy Kincaid would be another. Leta’s talents are the kind that would allow me to hand over an empty house to her and never look back. She is that good. Check it out and decide for yourself……..

Adore everything about this!

Major swoon!

Love the softness, the fabrics and the way this feels like landing on a cloud…….
Closer up, how pretty is that fabric!

She uses checks brilliantly!

Aren’t her bedrooms dreamy? And what about the window treatments? She is a total master….love her liberal use of blue, the gorgeous wallpapers she has a finesse in choosing and the way her rooms have such a timeless, serene and soothing feeling. Leta, you are one talented dynamo! Have a favorite Leta room? Do tell! Click here to visit and learn more about the uber talented Leta Austin Foster. Wishing everyone a fabulous day…….

A totally random Monday post and Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day…..well guess who didn’t go anywhere? Me! Unfortunately, the first two days of the holiday weekend (when we were supposed to leave) the weather had been horrible, rainy, cold, gray and 50 degrees up until yesterday afternoon. Felt like we were regressing…..until yesterday finally got to see the sun though it was on the cooler side and super windy. Today promises to be the best of the four days…..finally!  We are invited on a friends boat, fingers crossed the weather will allow it to happen and having a BBQ with friends. How about you? Hope the sun is shining where you are…….this is just a “pop in” to say hi and check in. A few random tidbits, so let me get started!

Memorial Day. It is of course alot of fun to get caught up in all the enjoyable things we think about on this holiday, BBQ’s, picnics, big sales, get togethers, etc…but lets not forget the real meaning and who we have to thank for being allowed to have those very freedoms to do all of those wonderful things!

Our brave men and women in uniform, sometimes unsung heroes,.. to  me, there is simply no more noble job than the one these brave Americans do. They put their own lives on a daily basis on the line for us to enjoy our liberties and freedoms……every day we should salute the heroic job that they do. It is awe inspiring at the very least. So my hat goes off and utmost respect goes out to all who have served and who continue to serve (and their families)…….you make me VERY proud to be an American! THANK YOU for all you do to keep us safe and protected.

How cute is this? Reminds me of Mr. Teddy when he was just a babe…..

Pinterest. I have to admit, I really didn’t “get” all the fuss about Pinterest…..all I kept hearing was about how addicted everyone was and how they couldn’t stay away. Well, though I am far from being addicted, think the light bulb has finally gone on and I have really started enjoying it, pursuing countless amazing boards and starting to collect wonderful images of my own. It is a fun and novel idea, and such a great way to chronicle and keep organized all you love and get inspiration from. Here are a few recent fave pictures from Pinterest…….

They call this a wedding clutch but I say it would be perfect for anyone anytime. How cute is this beaded monogrammed clutch? Love it!
Visit Toggle Home to get it and many other fabulous monogrammed goodies!

When it rained all day Sat. I met a friend for a movie and then we went shopping….was supposed to see Renoir but there was a misprint and the time was wrong so we saw The Big Wedding instead. Though the cast was definitely “A list”, there was to me,  some kind of disconnect in the story…I kept waiting to feel “hooked” but never did, I did however very much enjoy the gorgeous home, dreamy setting, furnishings and all the scrumptious wedding details in the movie. The delicious popcorn made up for a mediocre movie:) Still really really want to see Renoir, here’s the trailer…..

How insanely good does this look? I mean seriously, this is as cute as it is delicious with a capital D I am sure! Click on Iowa girl eats to get the low down on how to make it. Love the idea for a big gathering, everyone gets their own little serving, no one has to feel “jipped” because someone got a bigger portion…….

One of the many things on my to do list this summer is to catch up with summer reading. I used to be an avid “full time” reader and have demoted myself to being a part time participant of a book club but really miss the “Calgon take me away” experience that getting into a really good book afforded me. We all know that feeling of enjoying and immersing ourselves so much into a fabulous book that you just can’t wait to turn the page and never want it to end. So here’s a few on my list…..anyone read them? Yea or nay? Most of them good, light “summer reads” except Kaleed Hosseini’s book but that’s a must read and I have already ordered it (just came out). Any suggestions you care to add that are must reads? Please tell me!

Some of these were recommended to me by friends and other bloggers, and a few I just knew about because I have read books from that author…don’t know that I will get through all of them but hopefully at least a few!

And I found this on none other than Pinterest so considering how convenient it is that there’s a whole slew of books here to pursue, I am definitely going to look into this extensive list…..

So that’s my Memorial Day wrap up. Hope you had an enjoyable, relaxing and safe weekend. Before you know it, it will be July 4th! And then we will get bombarded with back to school supplies and fall clothes preview……….yes life goes by fast! So enjoy it, wishing you a wonderful day and be back tomorrow!

Late week musings…..

Hello there, and happy Thursday.  What’s on your agenda for Memorial Day? Hope the weather forecast is going to be a good one. Here, it looks to be fair,  not as warm as it has been earlier in the week, but clear skies except for Saturday, so I am not complaining one bit!

We were due to go away to Newport but now with my sons team in the playoffs and having mandatory practice, that plan may be changing. We have a few backup plans in case so we will see and hopefully will fit in  some downtime just “hanging”.

As with my weekly musings posts, this one is a bit all over and fairly lengthy so lets get started…….

Mr. Teddy wishing you a happy and safe Memorial Day weekend! See him sporting his Amercian flag bandanna…….just got back from a grooming.

Beautiful  pictures from my fellow blue and white loving blog friends!  Julio strikes again, recently posted on his gorgeous back patio for his first dinner party, and it is seriously stunning! Take a look……..loving all that blue and white:) Click here to see more from Beaux Monde Designs.

Speaking of blue and white and gorgeous, check out Mary Ann’s friends dinner party also with beautiful touches of blue and white. Click here to see more from Classic Casual Home……..

Incredible story! Found this story totally inspiring and the pictures spellbinding! Tippi,  a young girl born to French wildlife photographers who has grown up in the African desert claims many of the wildlife to be her best friends, this is totally fascinating and the pictures just incredible! Click here to read/see more.

Gorgeous wedding.…..proof that it really is all in the details and these snippets are so beautiful! This wedding is sooooo chic, beautiful, elegant and tasteful! Click here to see all the details from Let the tide pull your dreams ashore…….

Shoes! Have to get these shoes. I could see these with a beautiful creamy colored dress/sheath or something lacey for the summer….LOVE these! Gorgeous in the baby blue too…..

My house. Just a few random pictures I took recently and I am  loving my newest planter from my statuary line. And check it out with the newly added hydrangea and ivy. Winning combination!

And me newest urn on pedastal….tah dah! (This item is on my line shop now)

Late day sun…my favorite time of day.

Smelling good. I love a soft and light summer scent for the warmer months ahead. I am a big fan of Jo Malone for her beautiful scents and staying power. I recently bought the English pair and freesia and love it, its very soft and perfect for summer!

Food. Yes, by now you know I love this subject and always have to include something yummy in these random posts. These look soooo good and so refreshing for a summer appetizer. I will be making these for sure, visit the Cookin Canuck for the how to…….

Shop news. Some new beautiful additions to silver and the Staffordshire dogs in all their many colors and sizes are now up for those who asked. Click here to visit the shop…….

And to anyone who had wanted this wonderful best selling bag that was sold out, I just got three more…..

Well, everyone that about wraps it up for this week. Hope whatever you are doing for the holiday weekend is wonderful, relaxing and safe. Here the weather is due to get much cooler but after hitting 85 the other day, the 60’s are quite welcome. I don’t need the extremes and certainly not the dreadful humidity! I likely won’t be back during the weekend but will see you on Monday! Happy holiday weekend,  enjoy and thanks as always for stopping in!

Hello there, and happy Thursday.? What’s on your agenda for Memorial Day? Hope the weather forecast is going to be a good one. Here, it looks to be fair,? not as warm as it has been earlier in the week, but clear skies except for Saturday, so I am not complaining one bit!

We were due to go away to Newport but now with my sons team in the playoffs and having mandatory practice, that plan may be changing. We have a few backup plans in case so we will see and hopefully will fit in? some downtime just “hanging”.

Happy holiday weekend,? enjoy and thanks as always for stopping in!
