Hello and Happy Sunday morning to you! I am back, after a busy weekend. I am soooo looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing today:) Hope your weekend has been a good one. Ours started with the opening night party at ArtHamptons a premiere art event in the Hamptons…it was packed to the gills and loads of fun. The “interesting” people watching was off the charts, but it would have been way too obvious for me to start taking pictures of them, but trust me use your imagination and assume that I saw it there! The art was everything from “that”s art”? to incredibly imaginative and fascinating.
Then we went to Princeton, NJ for a tournament for my son….it was a HUGE tournament with hundreds of teams but I was able to carve out a little time early one morning (on a Starbucks search) to take a few pics of lovely Princeton, both the University and charming town. The architecture is just jaw droppingly beautiful, most of the older original buildings are done in a Gothic Revival style with intricate stone work, incredible limestone detailing, stained glass windows that are a work of art and thick gorgeous slate roofs. I was in heaven! I guess intellectual minds do better in beautiful surroundings:) So it was a fun weekend…..busy, exhausting and we even got a monsoon thrown into the mix. We had rain, the likes of which I have never seen and then within two hours the sun was out…..crazy weather!

ArtHampton…..this was sooo cool. The musicians are suspended about 20 feet up in the air…..very dramatic!

By far this took the prize! This was a newstand, approx. 10 x 8 feet. The ENTIRE stand was made from cut up blue jeans. You had to see this in person but the detailing was incredible!!!!!
I mean down to the shine on Obamas face….can you image how painstaking this must have been?

Every building was simply beautiful…..so classic!
How gorgeous are the windows to this library? Only at Princeton would the lights be on at 6:45 am on a Saturday morning and no doubt there were people in there studying:)

Shout out to my parents…they had lived in Rochester, NY and all I heard about was how great Wegmans was…so I had to satisfy my inner curiosity and went in. It really is a wonderful market!
Only I would become enthralled with the shopping cart canopies/structures…how beautiful are they!! I wanted to take one home and turn it into my dream greenhouse:)
There was a beautiful array of flowers, and so much more!

Back at the lacrosse fields and back to reality!!!!!
This was taken about 30 min. prior to a literal monsoon…it rained like I have never seen complete with lighting and thunder. Everyone was drenched to the core, all games were called off..it was quite a scene:)
And when the sun came out….look what I spotted. A darling family of deer…this was a definite highlight:)

Speaking of flowers..my beautiful white azaela topiary is coming back to life, put it in the powder room, hasn’t flowered yet but it will soon!

And made this pretty cheese and fruit platter served on the bread boards from my shop the other night before we left

I have to admit I’ve never been to Princeton but now I will. I have a few friends that teach there so it’ll make for a nice visit and I get to see some stunning architecture. Glad to hear you had such a nice time. I’m going to show your driveway to the husband since I’ve been trying to get him to lay some Belgium blocks at the top of ours. Ok tell us about that deep purple hydrangea it’s gorgoeus! I need to add it to my purple garden.
Ha, just watched the movie ‘Admission’ last night starring Tina Fey as an admission counselor at Princeton! Thanks for sharing all the lovely pics of the actual campus and town. On my visit to NYC recently, my friend commented that I was such a tourist, because I was snapping photos of everything in sight:-):-):-) Went to Plaza Hotel and hoped to visit the famed Bar, only to find that it was gone…Will make reservations for High Tea next time! Thank you for coming by; yes, balance is something that came to me as I was in California last week and just barely came home this past Tuesday. Seeing an older relative’s life CHANGE made me even more acutely aware of trying to be conscientious about what I DO NOW and how it will effect my future. Oh life is wonderful if we stop long enough to ask questions of ourselves.

Tina that looks like a really great weekend. Princeton is beautiful. We fell in love with it when we visited a few years ago, my daughter had been waitlisted there and ultimately attended another ivy where she is so happy but I must admit we both fell in love with the charm and architecture of the University.
The art festival looks like such fun and that denim exhibit is incredible. Amazing what some people dream up. I love your hydrangeas in the blue and white bowl and that belgian block is so elegant. Thank you!

Tina, you never ever disappoint. Oh I remember those lacrosse days well my son lost interst after the first brutally hot summer and decided he preferred our backyard pool and hanging with his friends to hard core summer sports haha. Today he is happily relaxing at a good Florida university…I found the summer circuit to be survival of the fittest. He wasn’t one of them 🙂
My husband grew up near Princeton so we know the area well and you pictured so many of the wonderful parts of it. It is a gorgeous university. Love all your flowers especially thy hydrangea trees. I am now on the hunt for them after seeing yours.

I have always loved being in an interesting city, town, or village on a cloudy/rainy summer day; the colors seem brighter when contrasted against a moody sky. We have finally gotten a couple of Wegman’s here in the DC area. I know I’m alone in this opinion, but I was utterly overwhelmed at its hugeness. Hi Tina, oh how we love Wegmans. We don’t have one here but we sure do miss it. But you need lots of time as they are very large markets with so much. My husband who loves to cook used to spend hours there, I joked that he should get a part time job there.
Princeton looks amazing. What a beautiful place to go to school. I love exploring and discovering new places. The Art Hamptons show looked so neat, that jeans exhibit is out of this world. We love art and try to go various events when they come around. Lucky you to have attended, love the way the musicians look like they are floating. Fun post.

We never had the opportunity to go to such beautiful places like Princeton however.. What a charming place. I would never want to leave. Great exposure and tour of Princeton. That is probably as close as I will ever get to it, so loved seeing the quaint streets, buildings and stores. Love your powder room and the azalea should do well there.

My son plays on the summer circuit for soccer so I know all about weekends away, we are gone almost every weekend July and August, it gets crazy but he enjoys it so much, that it makes it so worth it.

What is it about college towns that are so much fun?? I think we all wish we could go back and re-live those days. Princeton is such a great town and a beautiful school (never mind the academics!)…It would have been fun to have one of my children attend there but the Princeton admissions office thought they might enjoy other schools better! 🙂

Been to the bakery several times in Princeton. I miss Wegmans too, used to live so close to it before I moved to the Carolina’s.

Princeton is such a great town and a beautiful school (never mind the academics!)…It would have been fun to have one of my children attend there but the Princeton admissions office thought they might enjoy other schools better! 🙂
