Late week random musings…

Hi there and happy Thursday evening! We are having the most spectacular fall weather, every single day as of late as been a perfect “10”. As I periodically do…. I like to share random musings mostly taken with my trusty little iPhone. Since I spent a good part of this week and all last weekend being sick, I had a lot of catching up to do but suffice to say working from home was very convenient! Still some great things happening so here is a little recap…..

You asked and here they are….how cute are these, The Enchanted home notepads!! I love these….and will offer them online along with mugs, you heard right, mugs too!? So many of you loved this logo and asked if there would be any items with it, so here you are (will be added by next week)….

?I could not get enough of watching the Pope, seeing the welcome that we put out for him made me proud to be an American, and what a remarkable man! Love seeing him in his little Fiat……he is so good for our world!

unnambnbnbed unnamnbnbbed

I made these huge and heavenly good pancakes for my boys…..they ate every single bite! Forget dollar sized pancakes we go for pizza sized in this house:)

Got in the most amazing box of gorgeous monogrammed cards in my signature colors from Laurie of LB Originals…almost too pretty to open!

And put together this beautiful bassinet filled with baby boy goodies for the shower I unfortunately had to miss last weekend….

Here is the completed lower level powder room with the newly installed mirrored sconces, the mirror is temporary I am hoping to get this one below which I think will look amazing….love the paper!

Is this the cutest fabric? I fell in love, from Duralee…think I am going to order for my laundry room shades, it is fun, whimsical and elegant all in one!

And more pillow beauty, these will be added sooner than later, how much can I tell you I love these?

unnamvccv33ed unnamedfdafz fdfda unnamdfs33ed unnamedfdfdaz un3234anamed

?Was so excited to get the gorgeous artwork from Patricia from PVE of my showhouse rendering…going to blow it up to feature at the showhouse, thank you Patricia!!

How darling are these small foo dogs coming in my next container? I will be offering them in six different colors….including mini blue and whites! A presale will be offered around mid October.

I am floored and so happy with the beautiful dining room of one of my edesign customers..we just had the gorgeous Paul Montgomery paper installed after redoing her dining chairs, adding the console, the new chandelier, added small shades and have a few more finishing touches but isn’t this a fabulous room!

unnamfdasfzed unsda33named unnadsfadfsmed

My magnificent chinoiserie pillows will be added tonight or tomorrow morning to my online shop for anyone who has been waiting..they are beyond words, truly the prettiest pillows I have ever seen!

And speaking of showhouse, remember the brackets aka my first DIY project? Well…think I did it! I am so proud:) I don’t think Martha has anything to worry about but my perseverance paid off….this is the effect I was after (after many attempts mind you), its basically a combination of a glaze, spray paint and gilding wax….7 more to go:) Click here if you missed the post on my showhouse plans.

unnamdfasaf3ed unn32223amed

The glaze really made all the difference (thank you everyone for weighing in) it went from a hideous “Trump gold”? as I called them to a now? more antiqued brass color-

unnamevvczd unn32223amed

Ahhhh….yes this is it!

So there you have it…..hope your week has been a good one. We have a busy wedding weekend this Sat/Sunday which should be loads of fun and knowing my good friend as I do I know I am for a treat of epic proportions..will make sure to have my phone handy:) Thanks for stopping by, wishing you a wonderful evening and end to your week!

A sneak peek at a showhouse project!

Hi there and good morning….finally feeling a bit better, though I rested another day yesterday to be sure I am up to speed with all I have going on this week. Recently I told you a little about the fact that I am going to be participating in a very exciting showhouse…so that’s what this post is all about.

I was so flattered to have been asked to join the talent as one of the designers to design a space at the Ronald McDonald Showhouse this year. The opening night gala will honor design notables Candace Olsen and Nate Berkus.

This will take place on Oct.8th and we have 3 days prior to actually set up our space soup to nuts. However the planning is happening now…..I have always loved the color moss green, if you read my blog for any time you might know this:) And I really love moss green paired with a touch of antique brass and of course blue and white…truly a match made in heaven.

It is a little nerve wrecking to have to plan all this on paper as we cannot start actually decorating the space until Oct. 6th so I am trusting my vision…..I had the idea? dancing in my head and put together a mood board which looks like this-

Then looking into one of my many online albums came across this picture that cemented my decision on mossy green glossy walls!

I right away honed in on this gorgeous raised velvet fabric from Tilton Fenwick from Duralee, that rich mossy green caught my eye and I liked how it could feel a little more modern but would still be used traditionally with a beautiful navy trim for contrast-

unnaaa33vvmed unffaanamed

As those ideas came together, I turned to artist extraordinaire Patricia of PVE to turn my vision into art and lo and behold just feast your eyes on these renderings,? it was such fun to see my idea jump to life! Very exciting to see these two versions…..she did a truly fabulous job and it really validated my ideas:)

Version 2-

How to choose! They are both so exquisite and what a great joy for me to see my vision come to life at the hand of Patricia’s incredible talent.

So this is a loose idea of what it will be about. I have LOTS to do, many elements to pull together, have to arrange the painter, and someone to hang the brackets. Since this is a project where everything in these spaces will be sold, getting donations from generous sponsors is very key. Here are some elements pulling themselves together-

The rug is from Safavieh…this is a super inexpensive rug (around $500)? but gives me the look I am after…form a distance almost looks like it could be an old antique right? I think it will more than achieve the effect I am after….

asdaaunnamed unnamasdaed

And here are the brackets that came in primed which I am attempting a DIY project on-

The sconces/brackets I bought as plaster unfinished only because they are quite inexpensive and trying my hand at one of my very first DIY projects and painting them antique gold. They will in essence give me ( I hope) the effect I am after without having to spend a few hundred dollars per bracket.

Here is my first bracket was done in Design Master in picture 1. It looks far better than plain old white plaster and is a really pretty pale shade of gold,? but I needed? a gold with more “oomph” to stand up to the moss green walls.

So I got another gold, this time Krylon’s gold? however that one was far too bright and “fake gold” looking to me, so tomorrow it’s off to the hardware store to try yet another “formula” (frames on bottom)-

And here is attempt 1- subtle and elegant but not enough, too dark and no “wow ” factor

u32xxnnamed unna4vmed

And then attempt 2- way too bright, this is what I would refer to as “Trump gold” I can imagine his whole apartment just oozing in this brassy shiny gold:)

unnamevvczd 3ZCunnamed unnBBVCamed

And just like Goldilocks, I am waiting for it to be “just right” this tutorial is what has inspired me to go buy black spray paint, I know I know, scary. My thoughts exactly! I also have been recommend to buy a glaze from Valspar, so will give that a whirl too:)

Started to experiment but it was getting dark but I feel I am going in the right direction….going to require a bit more practice but I don’t give up easily:)

unadsfadsfnamed unnaadfsafmed

I am donating all the blue and white and am working with several vendors on everything else. Every single item will be up for sale and all proceeds will go to the charity. I cannot think of a greater cause to donate to.? It was fun getting to the warehouse and starting to choose which pieces I will be adding to the room….

343aaunnamed undsfxcnamed

unasdanamed unnam43433ed

Here are just some of the blue and whites standing guard for when they get put in the room, (I played around after my seamstress gave me back the partially finished table cloth). Just waiting on trims to be put on-

Ditto these tables….a little nervous but more excited than anything to see this come to life. Going to do a finish on them and possibly a light gold glaze over them, chairs are being reupholstered in a rich dark blue velvet I already had extra off which was very handy! I will add two beautiful pillows to the chairs-

These beautiful pillows are being donated from one of my pillow manufacturers, they are perfect:)

chair1b-351x263 chair1a-351x263

I have been wanting to do a room in high gloss for a long time…and am now getting my chance. I chose Guacamole from Benjamin Moore, a rich mossy green which I am sure will be incredible looking in the high gloss finish and very dramatic with the gold brackets and blue and white jars. Just love this color-

After googling this color found this room painted in guacamole..pretty pretty!

I will be sure to keep you in the loop, the next time you hear about this space will be when it’s really in action and the room is actually coming together! If by chance you are in the tri state area more information will be forthcoming in case you want to come out and not only support this incredible fundraiser for Ronald McDonald but to show your love for the design community! It promises to be a really wonderful event and I cannot wait to see all the spaces:)

Thanks for stopping in, wishing you a fabulous day. Until next time…..

Which would you choose?

Hi friends….feeling slightly better, figure one or two more days to take it easy and I will hopefully will be good as new! Was sad that I had to miss out on all the fun this past weekend, but not much I could do.? Looking ahead to a busy week and leading up to the wedding weekend of one of my closest friend’s daughters in NYC…and I am going to be sure I feel well rested and ready to dance the night away:)

Between Sept. and November we have a bunch of things going on, and I am in need of a few cocktail dresses. So have been looking fast and furious for them and let’s face it online shopping is way easier than trudging into the stores. I, for one don’t have a lot of free time and not a lot of patience either so increasingly turn to online shopping. I will often order 3 or 4 dresses, play dress up at home and then return what doesn’t work. I love trying things on at home because I get out the right shoes, even put on the right jewelry so I get the “whole effect”.

A few of my close friends refer to me as “their personal shopper” because they think I am really good at find and sourcing/honing in on fabulous finds…I like to think it’s one of my sixth senses:)? Recently found a handful of beautiful dresses that are classic and will stand the test of time, lace was a huge common theme…..always loved it. Maybe you too have some things coming up and possibly need some ideas!

This is compilation of high and low dresses, some ridiculously reasonable and others are investment pieces.? So here are some of the beauties I found, your turn to choose..which two would you most like to have?

CHOICE 1 LOVE LOVE this dress, this is one of those iconic dresses to have forever and let’s face it this silhouette looks good on almost everyone.. Click here for details

CHOICE 2 This is such a pretty dress, great color and beautiful details…a price that I had to do a doubletake on! Click here for information

CHOICE 6 This is such a classic look and it looks like it would be one of those flattering dresses, we all need one of those in our closet! Click here for the 411

CHOICE 7 This iconic “tulip” dress from Oscar De la Renta is such a beauty, sophisticated and fun all rolled into one. Click here for info

CHOICE 8 This is a beauty, feels modern yet classic, and I like that it could easily be dressed up or down. With strappy heels and chandelier earrings it could be a much dressier look. click here for details

CHOICE 9? Lady in red, oh yes! This is a beauty…and so well priced, also available in several beautiful colors. Click here for details

CHOICE 10? This shape, style and color are just amazing….the price makes it even more so! Click here for the details

CHOICE 11? A classic LBD, this Escada number is quite beautiful and the picture of understated elegance.? Click here to get more information

CHOICE 12 Think this is a super chic alternative to wearing a dress, a lace jumpsuit from DVF, very stylish and will never go out of style! Love the side bow, and all of the elegant details.? Click here for the 411

So I ordered four of these and cannot wait to get them! I am confident that at least one will be a winner (maybe two if I am lucky). Best feeling ever to have something in your closet to wear when you get invited somewhere rather than having the stress of having to go and find something, do you agree?

Which is your favorite? It will be fun to see which comes out on top….thanks as always for stopping by. Wishing you a wonderful day and start to your week.

Missed what I heard was an “epic” and beautiful Bar Mitzvah last night , a 50th birthday? and today have to miss a baby shower and a show I was so looking forward to seeing, An American in Paris. It stinks…feast or famine! Of all weekends to be sick..this was not a good one.

6. MY WALLPAPER! So remember my quandary about which wallpaper to put in the lower level bathroom? I had a few that I really loved but somehow this one by Thibaut really spoke to me, so I just went for it, and am I glad I did! I love it, it brings the best of both warm and cool tones. Putting up the mirror and sconces today..and we will be all set!

7. YOU SAW IT HERE FIRST! So….remember when Karolyn of The Relished Roost gifted us the most exquisite chinoiserie blue and white pumpkins last year at the luncheon I hosted? One thing led to the next…and now chinoiserie pumpkins are all the rage.

Speaking of pumpkins, its really not a minute too soon to start some fall decorating! When my kids were younger, I swear I think I started the day after labor day, now I have taken a much more passive approach but do really enjoy setting up the front door with mums and pumpkins…just makes it feel so festive!

Hope this finds you having a fabulous weekend, I am resting and willing myself to get better. Have a big NYC wedding weekend planned for next weekend and have loads to do this coming week, so there is no room in my schedule for being sick! Until next time…..

Autumn decorating for your home and a sale you cannot miss!

Hello, hope you are having a great week…..we have had a few afternoons/evenings lately where you can feel fall ever so slowly making its entrance, and you will hear no complaints from me! I LOVE fall.

Along with a new season comes little “spruce ups” that I enjoy doing around the house. Normally starts with my planters changing from hydrangeas and inpatients to pretty fall plants, mums and eventually pumpkins!? Then inside the home I always find it’s a time to do “inventory” to see if I want to change things up a bit, kind of like spring cleaning.

Between my own home, a show house project I am working on (more on that later this week) and a few bigger e design projects…I am always on the prowl for great items but at great prices! Random musings as seen through my iPhone

Hi there friends…how are you on this beautiful Tuesday morning? Over here, such a busy month for me. Eagerly awaiting the container delivery of my porcelains…any day now!? I guess the bright side is it does not allow me to wallow long in my pity party for one as I mourn the loss of? no longer having school aged kids.

I must admit I feel an overtaking of sadness every time I am in a store like Target or Staples surrounded by excited young kids and their exasperated parents over the annual “school supply trip”? pilgrimage or passing my kids old school, always makes me tear up just a little.

But being busy and having MANY balls in the air does not allow me to think or dwell long. I guess I need to really embrace the saying “don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened”. Always liked that but putting it to action is a little more challenging:) Oh well…as I periodically do here is a glimpse of my life seen through my iPhone…..

Made my yummy berry Napoleon for guests…so light and refreshing (will share recipe later this week)

And voila the finished product!

My sisters adorable new puppy with their adult golden, so cute!!

I am sorry but I just do not see my husband or father embracing this style any trend soon….at least not in this lifetime!

Can you believe my white azalea topiaries from last year are blooming NOW? Think they are confused but I am so happy they are:)

And meet the newest members of my myrtle topiary family (lost a few) so these are the new, bigger and badder replacements…

We have finally gotten quite a bit of rain lately and it recharged all my planters outdoors (funny I am not a fan of purple but these hydrangeas were only available in purple, white always sells out first so I got them and really enjoying the burst of color)
