Random musings as seen through my iphone

Hi friends as I periodically do I share snippets of my life this last week through pictures taken with my iPhone…..amazing the little story they tell. For me, its all about the gorgeous fall foliage and turning of the leaves…I cannot get enough, it is spectacular wherever I go!

I am headed out of town for four days. I am excited and looking forward to a little getaway (much needed). I have been burning the midnight oil and just need to completely disconnect for a few days. I will not post my usual Seven on Sunday where I was supposed to announce a winner of the Horchow giveaway. It will instead be on Monday afternoon so stay tuned:)

Wishing you a great rest of the week and weekend, it is going to be a nippy but no doubt super beautiful one here, the weather has been so fall fabulous.? So here is a snippet of my life in the last week or so….

Let’s talk entertaining….and a giveaway!

Hello and happy? Monday to you…hope you have a wonderful weekend. Ours was pretty low key, with plenty of time to relax, dinner with friends, a little retail therapy and a good amount of work.

Busy week ahead, I am probably in the minority when I say I like Mondays….don’t know why but I like that it is a day for me to get to plot out my week and it is always a day I make no plans but sit at my desk and play catchup. I have a long list of “to dos” which is growing seemingly by the hour…..then there’s the holidays coming.

I am wavering on hosting a holiday party, I really wanted to but with the death of my dear friends son, that enthusiasm and desire has all but vanished. So we may just do our usual family Christmas party, not sure. I will also likely be hosting Thanksgiving which I really look forward to especially since its my absolute favorite meal of the year (and my kids too). No matter what I end up doing….rest assured entertaining is always a subject that gets me excited. I LOVE setting a beautiful table and coming up with new and creative ideas for tablescapes.

I believe you can so easily elevate even the simplest of meals with a beautifully laid out table, gorgeous linens, elegant serving pieces,etc…..so if you have holiday entertaining on your calendar, then this is a prefect time to start thinking ahead. And Horchow just started their entertaining event with an extra 25% off so no? better time than now.

?#91 Mary Baker says:

?Hi Tina, thanks once again for sharing Decor Market and all the beautiful items they have to offer at such get prices. I particularly love the blue and white rugs and especially the one use chose for your show house room. The mirrors are also priced well and have such intricate detail on each of them. Hope I am a lucky winner this time. Have a good week. Also, hope your line of stationary will be available soon for holiday gift giving. Love your new logo.

Congratulations, please email me at theenchantedhome@gmail.com to provide your choice of rug or chairs and your shipping address.

Rainy, cold dreary Sunday over here, but otherwise we have had a splendid fall…. I am really enjoying fall but regret that I have not yet been able to venture north to go on my fall foliage tour as I had hoped. I just might work it out to go next week with a friend…there is nothing like it, fall in the north and this season has been just incredible so far.

Anyway, as I do every Sunday I share with you seven things that have caught my attention. So without further ado here we go…

1 A FABULOUS NEW STATIONERY SOURCE. This is a new sponsor to me whose work I have ironically followed on Instagram. An arbiter of fine taste it is no surprise that this talented bunch has launched a new site with the most exquisite stationery offerings.

I am in love with the new holiday line and will not need to look a step further for the most elegant Christmas cards I have seen period. I am excited because for once I didn’t need to search for them and will order them this week, well ahead of schedule:) I love that they will have any order at your doorstep within 14 days!

Take a look at some of the beautiful selections below and click here to visit Dixie Design.

2. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. I share? my favorites from Instagram every Sunday and some weeks, I cannot lie it’s really hard to narrow down my list, so here are this weeks absolute faves, which was no easy task to narrow down…

3. THE FRICK COLLECTION. This is one of my favorite museums in NY. It is smaller and intimate, less overwhelming, like what the Musee de l’Orangerie is to Paris. I was there? recently with an out of town visitor and it was fun getting to see it through their eyes (as is getting to see NYC in general).

Here are some pictures from a current exhibit Sevres from France to Fifth Avenue, if you love beautiful porcelain then you must see this exhibit if you live close enough or will be visiting, this is a must do, and it’s on until spring of 2016 so there is time! Click here to find out more-

And look at the beautiful pictures of this years’ Annual Autumn dinner, which a friend of mine attended ….love the idea of dining under old world masters, beautiful! I have been fortunate enough to attend a private dinner there myself and let me tell you, it just doesn’t get more beautiful of a setting than this…..

4. MOVIES. Saw Steve Jobs over the weekend with my oldest son, who like many his age is a huge fan of Jobs and I must say I really enjoyed it. He was arguably an extraordinary visionary who was also a complex, very intense man as we saw in the movie.? But no doubt the mark he has made on our world will never be forgotten. I definitely recommend it!

A few others I am excited about…..looks like I will be a busy movie goer in the next few months:) I choose my theater of choice by how good their popcorn is and suffice to say, I have a few favorites!

5. SOME EXCITING NEW ITEMS COMING THIS WAY. Lots of great things happening with my shop, a new porcelain container will be arriving around the third week of Nov as will some incredible new chinoiserie tole pieces, I haven’t’ been this excited about new goodies in a long long time…this is an exceptional shipment.? I will hold a presale as I always do about 3 weeks or so before their arrival, so stay tuned. Here’s a peek at some of the beauty heading this way…..

How beautiful is this lamp! I love seeing them actually being painted…a true work of art. Will be offered in three colorways

unna343434med unnamed

ADORE this mirror, this is it almost done one more stage to go,? will also be offered in four colorways

I will be offering incredible handcarved wooden brackets…unbelievably beautiful!

6.FALL AROUND HERE. I don’t do the fall decorating that I once did but I do enjoy adding small touches of fall here and there. I love white, you probably know this by now. In the summer its white inpatients and in the fall white mums and year round it’s always white orchids:) White is? always so elegant especially against what greenery is still there. The foliage is so beautiful right now, had to take some pictures to share. Here is a look at some of the fall happenings in my neck of the woods….

Under fall’s spell and a new contest

Good morning…well there is no doubt about it, fall is in fact creeping in. I could not be happier…..fall is my favorite season of all. I announced a Fall Love contest a few days ago (details on bottom). That unmistakable crisp air, the faint distant aroma of a fireplace getting turned on for the first time in the season, apple and pumpkin picking, foliage turning, birds migrating, comfort foods, fall festivals, mums in every color….. it is all just so wonderful!

I always enjoy getting outdoors and enjoying all that fall has to offer and suffice to say fall in the northeast is pretty hard to beat!? So this post is dedicated to fall and it’s beauty which will have to suffice for now until I can start getting my house in fall mode. No narration just letting my pictures do the talking. Enjoy…..

Let’s talk beauty!

Hello there! Hope your week is off to a great start, it’s been super chilly over here but I am not going to lie…I absolutely love this weather, sweater? weather has arrived! I have been wanting to do this post for a long time……I love beauty products, perfumes, creams, you name it. Not unlike many of my female counterparts, I looove trying out new products and a? luxurious cream that? promises miracles or a beautiful new shade of lipstick can actually get me very excited.

So with 2015 almost behind us I have had nearly a full year of trying both new things and retrying old favorites…think of this as The Academy Awards for makeup and skincare:)

I thought it would make a fun post to share my tops in a few categories and would love you to weigh in with your favorites as well. As I always say, it is this valuable sharing of information that makes blogging such an amazing and enriching experience. So here are some of my most favorite products in the world……and why:)

These are my absolute favorite products in the universe-

1. La Prairie– I am a convert in how I take care of my skin thanks to La Prairie and must say these products are worth every single penny. I even have my mom hooked on them, leave it up to the Swiss. Another product that consistently gets voted as the very best with good reason.

I absolutely LOVE the caviar cream both for face and eyes…..so luxurious my skin drinks it up right up and though I will be the first to tell you I used to go to sleep with makeup on and wasn’t very dilligent, but this stuff has really made a difference, so I am a fan for life! I simply have not used anything better and I get frequent compliments on my skin, so thank you La Prairie.! They are expensive but last a very long time as they are highly concentrated. Plus when I figure out the cost vs. how long they last it literally is mere cents a day…and I am worth it!? Click here for Caviar cream .

Eye cream, click here

2. La Prairie cleanser– I must confess I used to? alternate using this with the super easy peasy wipes from Oil of Olay,? this definitely feels so much better and leaves my skin feeling incredible soft and moist so now I almost always use this. I use the purifying cleanser below as it is richer since my skin is dry…feels so good but there is a foam cleanser is you have oily skin.? Click here

3. Ren Skincare Glycolactic Skin Renewal Peel Mask– This product is a lot of power in it’s punch, combines four acids that work remarkably well to re nourish and rejuvenate the skin.? I had read some really great reviews on this and was told it is repeatedly voted as a top mask so figured it was worth a shot and you know what…its good. Very good. Click here

4. Avery Graham Opulence eye cream– Have been using this mostly at night, it is super creamy and luxurious and loaded with many extracts and antioxidants and I have to say this is a winner. I have since recommended it to a few people….who all love it. I owe my results to this wonderful cream. As a company Avery Graham offers incredible personalized service, a rarity in today’s world where they will actually help you that’s right H E L P you design your very own skincare regimen! Click here

5.? Mac lipstick in Angel. Love this color and I could probably have invested in a lipstick factory for the number of tubes of this color that I have bought over time:) They simply cannot ever discontinue this…I will be distraught! I doubt they will as its often sold out so I buy 2 or 3 at a time. Great color, a soft neutral pink that literally goes with everything…my absolute fave that lasts.? Click here

6. Yves St. Laurent Le Teint Touche Eclat foundation– I was hooked on Larua Mercier foundation for a while then one day they were out of the color I wanted and I was suggested to try this. I normally do not use foundation during the day but will use it under my eyes and anywhere that needs a little “help'”.

Glad I did, this goes on so luxuriously, it is creamy and leaves my skin feeling so moist and alive, has a slightly dewy effect and the most wonderful scent. Must say this is an exceptional product and I would not consider any other. Click here.

7. Trish McEvory Instant Eye Lift– Great recently discovered product, it highlights while acting as a line filler….talk about the ultimate two in one! Great product which is now a staple in my bag of tricks:) Click here

8. Bobbi Brown shadow? in Chocolate Caviar . When I use shadow, I always use brown. I have tried many but none are as great as Bobbi Brown, in fact none come even close.? They are heavily pigmented which means you literally get the full saturation of color with one single swipe and they last. I am? fan for life! These two browns are my fave. Click here

9. Maybelline Colossal Volume Express . Again,? I like many others,? have tried oodles of mascaras, all promising to deliver Tammy Faye like lashes and let’ s face it, there is no magic tube.

However this little yellow tube, The Colossal Volume Express (you know with a name like that it has to deliver)? comes pretty close. Definitely my favorite mascara and the fact that it’s under $9.00 makes it a steal. Available at any local drug store.

10. Bobbi Brown bronzer (again)! I don’t really use blush but do use bronzer and must say after years of using Guerlain, they changed their product on me and the new formula cracked very easily and at over $50.00 a pop, that just wasn’t happening so on? a whim I tried Bobbi Browns and it’s fantastic!

I love the color, Golden Light….it goes on very easily and best of all seems armor proof. I have dropped it many times and not a single crack! Click here

11. Judith August Everything pencil and Best Concealer? – Love the everything pencil because well…it does everything! It is a great concealer that glides on easily, to be used for just about everywhere, I use it especially under the eyes. I also have used it right under the brow to highlight the browbone. Click here

Judith August Best Waterproof Concealer- It lives up to it’s name….trust me! This is heavy duty design for battle…it can hide everything from birthmarks, tatoos to port wine stains….so imagine what it can do on something as minor as under eye circles:) Click here

12. Dior lipliner– This stays put and it is tried and true….available in many shades, I love the Grege and have used this product for quite some time….helps the lipstick stay where it should:) Click here

This is another liner by Milani, that is darn good (I like the color Most Natural) and so inexpensive but it has been discontinued so you can occasionally find them on Amazon or other random sites…

13. Yves Saint Laurent eye pencil– I love this because though it goes on easily and is creamy and gentle on the eye, it stays and stays and is waterproof! It has true lasting? power, so once you put it on…it stays put. Excellent pencil, I love it in Bleu Indigo. Click here

14. Nars highlight stick– Cannot imagine life without this trusty chunky tube of magic. I love this product and have used it for years. I glide just a bit on my cheekbones, on my brow bone and can use it on my shoulders at night if I so choose. A little goes a long way and this is a must have product if you love that “glowy’ look..I get many compliments on my “glow”! Copacabana and South Beach are my two favorite shades, click here.

15. Clarins bronzer/self tanning milk– I swear I think I have been using this for 15 years…..there is a reason it is constantly voted as the best bronzer out there. Not orange, just a beautiful bronzey goddess glow, in a very subtle and natural way.

I use it on my face particularly in the fall/winter for just a little added color, the formula is also super rich and luxurious and feels like an expensive face cream. One tube lasts about 6 months, I use this on average about once every ten days…magic especially in the fall and winter when just about anyone can use a little extra color. Click here

16.? Smashbox Photo Finish– This name does not lie…it glides on like liquid silk and I swear keeps your makeup totally intact. I use it mostly when I need a “full face” or going out at night but this stuff works incredibly well and is a must have. The name tells it all, click here.

17. Jo Malone Mimosa and Cardamom – LOVE this new scent, it’s my new every day scent, and it has such great staying power. It is so fresh and beautiful, of mimosa, rose, cardamom and sandalwood….love this!! Click here

18. Jo Malone Peony and Blush Suede– Another favorite, Peony and Blush Suede is so soft and feminine, I always have loved anything that is a soft powdery floral, this is scented of peonies, jasmine and rose, so very pretty. As with all Jo Malone fragrance, they last so long which is a reason I continue to be a devoted follower.? Click here

19. Narcisco Rodriguez For Her– Love this newly discovered scent, it is almost like they made it for me:) Combining my favorites notes of pink floral, vanilla, amber and musk, this is a beautiful scent and the fact that it’s in a gorgeous pink bottle does not hurt:) Click here

Low key weekend over here, and it’s a beautiful one. Crisp and cool…just how I like it! I? have a friend coming in from NYC and we may venture to a local fall festival and will likely let Teddy tag along:) Did a? little antiquing too which is always fun as you never know what you might find!

Hope whatever you are up to is wonderful and relaxing. Here are my seven things I am loving this week…….

1. RUN DON’T WALK TO GET THIS BOOK. OK after a stressful day the other day, I came home to a great big package at my door. When I saw that it was from Random House, I got excited…….good things come from RH! Then upon opening it and seeing it was the hot off the presses much anticipated new book , Carolyne Roehm at Home in the Garden,? I jumped for joy and promptly canceled my evening plans so I could sit down and properly devour every page and devour I did…….total heaven!

Bottom line? This book does not disappoint and in fact is? like a great movie that you don’t want to end…this book is the same. It is enormously oversized and filled with an abundance of huge glossy images that are just sublime and truly take your breath away.? It will get all of your senses in overdrive in the best way possible. Surely one of my new favorite books of all time……so beautiful! A little “teaser”-

3. A LITTLE BIT OF FALL IN MY HOME. I am admittedly very late to the “getting my house in fall mode” party. Between no longer having young kids who delight and anticipate my fall decorating touches and being super busy.

I just haven’t had the time is the bottom line,? not to mention? my impatients are still blooming and? look too good to rip out, the guilt would kill me.? But I added a few small things here and there to celebrate my favorite season!

Amazing how far a large box of about 30 little white gourds can go….

4. GORGEOUS NEW FABRICS. Working with an e design customer and having such fun as I always do playing with fabrics….this Tilton Fenwick fabric from Duralee Soskin got me started? and I am loving this with her rug for a pair of chairs, it is really beautiful and so luxurious, as it’s a raised velvet and simply fabulous.

The tablecloth I had custom made from the olive version of Soskin? sold right away at the gala but I am having a duplicate done I loved it so much:) I got extra fabric and am having two? more tablecloths made (that were orders) and pillows…really love this fabric! Then of course I started looking at other Tilton Fenwick fabrics and my mind started racing with ideas……

5. THE MOST DARLING LITTLE CHERUB! One of my readers sent in a picture of her baby..and I could not resist sharing (of course with her permission). Looks just like a little doll….and love her name, Ruby! I want to reach in and pinch (very very gently) those sweet chubby rosy cheeks:)? Is she not the cutest?

6. TWO NEW BOOTS! I always get a pair or two of all weather boots for my closet as winters here are long, brutal and cold and I am hearing murmurs of a a lot of snow…ugh! Really like these cute new pair from Hunter, great length and love the faux furry trim detail. Click here for details…

Then these from Frye fit so well…love them, an over the knee boot looks amazing with everything from pants, jeans to skirts. Also flattering as it lengthens the leg and you never heard a woman say she wants her legs to look to look shorter, right:) These fit really well and can be worn with the flap up or down…….nice soft leather too:) Click here for details

And these I have from last year but happy to see Tory Burch is making them still, love them so much might get another pair for safe keeping, they are super warm and so pretty! Click here for details

6. THE FOO DOGS ARE COMING! Along with a bunch of other amazing new porcleains! I will be getting a new container of porcelains sometimes around mid November and can hardly wait.

I have some really exquisite items coming including many fishbowls, new ginger jar pairs, some colored pieces and foo dogs in several colors. They are so stylish and an instant way to add that extra little something to any vignette.

Be on the lookout for a 3 or 4 day presale within the next week to ten days. ? Here are a few that will be coming in-

My showhouse space…..

Good morning, I have so missed being on my blog, definitely my happy place. We are still as a family in mourning over the tragedy of one of my closest friends son’s death which I spoke of here. It is still quite surreal and having to attend the private wake and burial yesterday was heart wrenching and the saddest funeral I have ever had to attend.

I needed to take off a few days to pay respect to the family and take time to process this tragedy. Thank you so much for your kind words and condolences and many private emails.? When my friend is up to it I am going to share that post with her, I know it will warm her heart to see the outpouring of love. So please visit by clicking here if you want to add a message.

The Ronald McDonald showhouse was a wonderful success and I am so honored to have been a part of it. It sure humbles you to hear the stories that make the Ronald McDonald house thrive and go on. I cannot imagine working for a greater or more noble cause. I couldn’t have been happier with my space. Remember the rendering of my vision done by Patricia of PVE? She did a brilliant job of bringing my idea to “life”….and it definitely validated my vision.

2unnamed u1nnamed

There were so many wonderful rooms, and it was such fun getting to see all of the different interpretations of design. I must say my space came out exactly as I had hoped it would and in fact even surpassed my expectations. The reaction to it was so wonderful, flattering and validating! I am now dying to recreate that space in my own home but have run out of places:) So here is a little bit on the room in progress and then the final result.

Left my house with a car loaded to the gills for day one of installation-

unn1212sasaamed unname7667d unnavbbvmed

Arriving to the enormous tent almost 200 x 100! It had 22 vignette spaces around the entire perimeter of the tent where each designer spent two days working their magic!

unaa2named 22aaunnamed

In progress- at first brushstroke, I was in love with the color I chose Guacamole by Benjamin Moore, now I want this exact room in my own home!

And then I started to bring out all of the elements that would make my space once the room was painted and dry-

If you missed my tutorial on how I finished these brackets click here

Also had these adorable cookies made using my logo and put them out on a tray for the evening of the gala (wish I had a better pic)

u22sannamed unname6ygd

First brackets getting put up

Exactly as I had hoped they might look:)

The beautiful lantern getting hung

Adding a big spray of blossoms to the blue and white vase was a beautiful finishing touch surrounded by elegant decor books

The stunning raised velvet fabric by Tilton Fenwick made the most spectacular table cloth, I trimmed it with navy blue bullion fringe and a decorative tape…it was just fabulous!

YES! Just how I had envisioned it would turn out…..

O unnam3443ed

Then we added the beautiful paintings donated by Frances of NYC Painter to the left wall- (click here to contact and see her beautiful work)

Then I realized I needed a balance on the right wall so added these two beautiful blue linen benches found the night before!

And as the last finishing touches were put on,? I got my heart set on adding another pair of brackets with blue vases and literally the morning, waited outside a friends antique shop until she opened and as the stars were aligned she had a perfect pair and gave them to me at a price that could not be beat, and we all know I had the blue and white vases ready, willing and able! This was the final and perfect touch…..

ucxxcnnamed unnqwqqqamed

These pictures below? were taken with my Nikon camera so are slightly clearer and larger however did not have it for the final room shot (with added brackets and jars) however a professional photographer was on hand to shoot the space so I will share them with you when I have them-

The blossoms and vase from my shop were the perfect centerpiece for the 36″ round center table

Used my foo dogs and small planter with orchid for one of the small consoles

The beautiful paintings on the left wall are from Frances of NYC Painter….exquisite original oils added so much to the space!

unnam354235ed uadsfannamed unnam56456ed

And finally a huge thank you to each of my wonderful sponsors without whom this space simply would not have happened-

Benjamin Moore for the paint (click here)
Safavieh for the fabulous furniture, lantern and rug (click here)
Vendome Press or the beautiful coffee table books (click here)
Duralee/Tilton Fenwick for the magnificent table fabric (click here)
PVE for my beautiful room rendering (click here)
Frances (NYC painter) for the magnificent artwork (click here)
Kravet for the trim ( click here)

(All porcelains from my shop, The Enchanted Home Shop)

And that,? my friends is a recap of my show house space soup to nuts. I so loved my space and was really proud of it, would LOVE to have that exact room in my own home, now I need to brainstorm:) Loads of fun,? and anytime I can combine “giving back” to a phenomenal cause like The Ronald McDonald House and my passion for design…..I am fully on board!

I was so honored to have been asked to do this and by all accounts the evening and fundraiser were an immense success. For more info on how you too can support The Ronald McDonald House click here.….thank you as always for stopping by and wishing everyone a wonderful evening.
