Enchanted Home Shop musings, a poll and 2 giveaways!

Good evening friends! Hope you are having a great week, mine has been off the charts busy but a good kind of busy:) Behind the scenes, my new site is being worked on….it is coming along with much work still to do and with luck it will launch on or around May 1st. I am very excited about the site as it will not only be very user friendly but will also in some cases be easier to navigate (in terms of finding old posts/specific subjects).

Your feedback on my last poll was more helpful than you can possibly imagine….so thank you again for that. And once again I am asking for your help.

Today is a slightly different focus but I need your input once again. So first some random shop news, a poll and then to thank you for your time,  a giveaway to two lucky winners. Here we go…..

LARGE FISHBOWLS. My incoming container that is arriving in 2 weeks, only contains a couple of fishbowls.  They did not make the containers deadline and I didn’t want to hold it up any further. So I  am working on the next shipment which will be shipping out in about 2-3 weeks and be here anywhere between late May-mid June, just in time for spring planting!

Many of you either wanted the med/lg fishbowls that I was  sold out and several of you inquired about buying even larger fishbowls. That is what this next shipment is all about.

For anyone interested in fishbowls, I am taking preorders now because this is a large item not easy to stock. They will ship by end of April. Below is the information……..email me at theenchantedhome@gmail.com if you are interested in placing your order. (There will likely not be any extra for sale when they arrive in May). If you know the prices of big fishbowls you will recognize these bargains-

ITEM 1 This fabulous x large fishbowl is spectacular with the design around the entire bowl and  decorated on the rounded rim…calling for a huge hydrangea or palm plant! Measures 18″ x 21″w $345.00

CHINOISERIE TOLE Another one of my favorites, cannot get enough:) Think this next batch incoming might just be my favorite of all, has me dreaming up all kinds of possible arrangements! This shipment will be here end of April/first week of May. Once it ships I will be holding a presale (1st or 2nd week of April)

SILVER Is on its way and due here around April 12th, cannot wait, this is by far the best and prettiest silver shipment yet. A presale was held last week but I will as I always do hold a 1 or 2 day sale when it actually arrives so stay tuned if you missed out.

PILLOWS I do well with  my pillows and you know I love them, they are classics that stand the test of time. I have also collaborated with a favorite pillow maker, Studio Tullia for an Enchanted Home pillow collection and let me tell you these are exquisite.

Perfect for the warmer months ahead to bring in a bit of crisp blue and white beauty both inside and outside your home……very excited about this! Stay tuned for a pillow promotion next week, and here is a beautiful sneak peek-

Which would you choose?

Hi friends..hope you are well and enjoying spring. I know I am and never do I remember being so happy for it’s arrival. It is so nice to see the sun, wake up to the birds chirping and even some days open up the windows!

The older I get the more I love the warmer weather. Today’s post is all about spring staples, I could live in everything on this post alone:) I was asked to go shopping with a friend recently who is ready to revamp her wardrobe and she asked me about my spring staples, so it got me thinking…..if I were to choose 20 new items for the season this is what you would find on my list.

What is great about this is that most pieces are interchangeable and all are classic, here to stay pieces. I go with a high/low approach and since I tend to buy more tailored classic items, they literally stay in my closet forever. The only thing that is not constant is the sizes, lol, but that is a different post all togehter!

How about you? What does your spring into summer wardrobe look like? So imagine the spring fairy has dropped by and grantng you two wishes…which two would you choose?

CHOICE 1 Love this top and I am sure you are not surprised, click here

CHOICE 2. I have this sweater in three colors and am loving the new spring/summer colors of soft pink/pale lavender, with all white these would be stunning! Click here

CHOICE 5. Another favorite brand, Theory…really like this bandeau striped tee, a great everyday staple that looks sharp and classic in navy and white, click here

CHOICE 6. Its funny I am normally not a fan of Tory Burch shoes or bags because of the big logos but this one I love, especially the braided handles, the color and the price is the best part:) Click here

CHOICE 7. Arent these flats so chic? They go mighty well with that bag up there, could see these with all white or earthy soft colors though this color actually goes with everything! Click here

CHOICE 8. This is a “me” blouse, soft, airy and feminine. This could be easily dressed down with jeans or capris or dressed up with ivory/white slacks and a gold bracket…beautiful! Click here

CHOICE 12. Big fan of Theory and their sensible approach to classic streamlined dressing. Got these slacks and they fit like a glove, beautiful quality too. Now for the new season I want them in other colors…..the light tan (which I got) looks great with every color particularly white! Click here

CHOICE 13. A great little white top is a must have, you can layer with it or add an interesting necklace to jazz it up, this little top can be easily dressed up or down with jeans or a dressier pair of pants and the price makes it affordable enough to get in all three colors! Bonus points for scalloped bottom:)  Click here

I was shocked when I saw it was from Topshop, could easily be a couture dress…perfect for a spring or summer wedding, add a little wrap, a stroppy pair of heels and you are good to go, love the color. Just would add a longer slip not a fan of the short version shown here and would do beige/off white shoes and clutch. Click here

CHOICE 18. Black pants….a HUGE part of my wardrobe year round. I wear them all the time and lets face it, no piece of clothing is more forgiving!  These by NYDJ fit so well and are quite slenderizing…..huge bonus:) Click here

CHOICE 20. Doesn’t this look like a dress you could live in all summer long? Smart, super reasonable and linen…yes! Comes in four patterns/colors. I bought a similar linen dress 2 summers ago and wore it all season, it was so cool and comfortable and always looked smart. You will be surprised at the price of this one! Click here

And here are some of my favorite looks together, made them as “outfits”……pretty much loving it all. Fun, soft, feminine, lots of pieces that can be interchanged. Very much my style. How about you? What are your “go to’s” as we head into spring/summer. I am all too happy to be shedding all the layers and all my black/gray/camel staples…..bring on the white!

Thanks for stopping in…wishing you a fabulous day! Until next time…..

PS My warehouse blowout part 2 is on until tonight, most items are sold but still a few odds and ends and still some Antica Farmacista items which are all a great deal! Click here

My day at the NY flower market part 2!

Hello and happy Monday afternoon! I hope  you had a wonderful Easter. First order of business is to announce the winner of the beautiful silver tray. Congratulations goes to…

Please contact me to provide your shipping details, as soon as the container arrives, your tray will be on it’s way to it’s new home!

Our Easter was very nice and so relaxing, spent part of the day/night in NYC and it was hopping no pun intended:)  Hope you are enjoying the spring weather…its been cool but beautiful and the trees and dormant flowers are ever so slowly starting to wake up from their long winter nap, love it! I actually opened up my windows the other day which reminded me of the small pleasures in life:)

So last week I shared with you my fun adventure to the NY flower market (click here if you missed it) and today I am going to share with you part 2, what happened when those flowers came home with me:) So here we go with what might be one of my favorite posts ever!

STOP! If you do not love flowers (and I mean L O V E) or blue and white then no need to read any further. Yes there are a lot of pictures here and yes I was like a mad scientist who was unstoppable (oh but what fun it was) and yes I took out the big guns to photograph these (my Nikon “good” camera) sometimes you just can’t beat a “real” camera’s picture quality and finally if you are like me, blue and white and flowers together can cause heart palpitations….takes one to know one:)

First the loot on my kitchen counter top (yes another reason I desperately need a greenhouse)!

This HUGE box of fresh moss for $30!

Are these not the most beautiful color!

Whipping out the ginger jars to help make my flowers come alive, thankfully  have tons of small jars

The tulips took my breath away…….

Laying out my “ingredients”

These roses were $10.00! They were on their third day so I got them at a bargain and loved the color and slightly aged look…they worked beautifully

Ta dah! My first arrangement:) and this flower below  is not only so beautiful but lasts sooooo long!

And  this is when I got busy with my many arrangements, did I say many:)

inggdex inde5tgx inde6yhx

Then like little soldiers they were discharged from my kitchen into many areas around my house…..

I think the green, ivory and soft pink are so beautiful together

Loved the grouping on my living room  mantle

Aren’t flowers in mint julep cups so pretty?

Dining room mantle was shown some love too:)

The flowers inspired me to set up a beautiful table for two….

inde6yyx ieeendex

They were perfect on my hall chest as a beautiful blue and white vignette

Another combination that shows how you can mix real and faux (cherry blossoms)

inde5ttx indexsx

A full and luscious arrangement in my living room on a side chest

I even snapped a picture for an ad that I will feature…and love the way it came out (you are seeing it here first)!

And finally 7 days later they are still here, yes they are in their later stage of life but miraculously are still so beautiful. No way are they getting thrown away until there are no petals left, I enjoyed this way too much and want to savor every last drop (petal)!

Think I had fun? YES I did:) Thank you for stopping in and sharing my flower journey with  me. I laughed thinking I was upset that I had not planned anything around getting to share all these flowers then I reminded myself I am getting to share them with thousands and thousands of my best friends….you! And it doesn’t get better than that. I have a feeling there will be more “flower binges” to come. Until next time……

PS If you missed my Seven on Sunday, click here

Seven on Sunday

Happy Easter and happy Sunday to you!  Beautiful day here,  spring has officially arrived even though its a bit cool, I am not complaining.  I am just about ready to start planning and plodding for my planters and garden:)

This Easter is a little different,  I am not hosting family, as this year we are all over the place,  so  we are meeting our 2 older sons in the city for an afternoon together and an early dinner at a favorite restaurant. It will above all be quite relaxing for me to take a break from hosting duties though I look forward to doing it next year:)

Hope whatever you are up to is wonderful and enjoyable, today is a family day….and those are always my favorite! Here we go with my Seven on Sunday……

1 THIS IS HOW YOU DO “ONE”!  Be prepared for cuteness overload! This adorable littler cherub who I discovered on good ol Instagram stole my heart. Reminds me so much of my “baby” who now towers over me, but he was a blonde, pudgy, cherubic happy baby just like this little princess who just celebrated her first birthday. How cute….too cute to not share:) You too can follow this darling account at Tiffanyraina by clicking here

4. A RECIPE WORTH SHARING. I like to periodically share recipes that are proven and worthy of talking about. This one is quite easy and oh so delicious. You can serve it with a side of vegetables or zucchini spaghetti and keep it light or of course go a bit more decadent and offer up a side of pasta or potato. Either way this is really really good! 5. LUNCH TABLE FOR TWO. Had one of my closest friends come over last week and got to enjoy my flower’s last day in bloom:) It was nice to take a break from a hectic week for what I call a “Downton Abby” moment:)  Set up this pretty little table for two. In the spring, I  love the combination of fresh springy green with blue and white…it’s so crisp and clean plus we know flowers make everything prettier:)

My day at the New York Flower Market part 1

Good morning! Whether you have been coming to my blog for 1 week or 2 years, you know one thing….I LOVE flowers about as much as I love blue and white. And that is saying something! When I lived in the city, I remember going to the wholesale flower market a few times but being in my 20’s, I did not have the passion or appreciation for what a big deal that really was. Now, having come “full bloom” I cannot get enough of flowers so getting to go to the market this week was a mega treat of epic proportions.

It is located on one street, 28th between 6th and 7th ave and even if you are visiting NYC as a tourist, its a really fun thing to do….even if you aren’t able to take home any “souvenirs”. Well lucky for me I was only a car ride away so treated myself (and used major restraint) to a bevy of gorgeous flowers. There is one shop after another with more orchids, tulips, roses and blossoms than you can dream up. It is flower nirvana!

I came home to “play” and the only unfortunate thing is that my timing was not great,  really I should have planned some kind of party or small dinner around my floral creations. I did manage to invite a few friends over for a spontaneous lunch but the enjoyment I got out of them was immense irregardless. So first a look at the market itself and a few pointers,  then part 2 will follow next week on my creations/how I used the flowers.

Some of my market pictures are not the greatest…but bear in mind, I was trying hard to look like a not overly impressed “been there done that”  floral veteran vs. a total doe eyed bewildered newbie who had gone to flower heaven:)

Some pictures from “the market”…..

Like a crayola box of colors……

OK, here is one sneak peek at what I did…..

Have I whetted your appetite and perhaps have you thinking of a quick trip to NY:) It was such fun…….its a busy, buzzing, bustling street, where sneakers and a crossbody bag are very appropriate…. if you get the chance to go, DO! It was a fun day and one which I hope to repeat sooner than later. Part 2 will be all about what I created at home and I must say I kind of impressed myself….maybe a floral career is not out of the question:) Here are a few pointers/observations-

A few pointers-

  • Arrive early, the market actually opens at 5:30 but that is when many of the “big deal” event planners/ florists go
  • We got there around 9:30 and you could see by 10:30 they were already starting to pack things up
  • Around 10:30 some of the vendors sell some things discounted if the shelf life of those particular flowers has passed
  • Most everything is sold in “bundles”  I bought tulips in bundles of 30 stems and 50 stems
  • A few of the vendors require an account but most of them will sell to anyone
  • Associated and Dutch Flower Line are considered to be two of the biggest but there are plenty of smaller vendors as well
  • Prices are pretty consistent, and don’t seem to vary much
  • Things move very fast….I remember stopping in at the first shop, admiring some parrot tulips but deciding to look more then went back for them and they were all gone (did find them elsewhere)
  • Don’t be shy…there are no prices on anything, so you must interact with those who work there, towards 10:30 at my last stop, I even did a little “negotiating” which in NY is pretty de rigueur and managed to save myself about $20 off that order
  • It is totally self service, you walk in, see what you want, and there are these large metal shelves where you put your items as you shop, that is standard
  • They will wrap them up in brown paper and off you go…….thankfully the parking lot is located smack dab in the middle of the street so we took a few trips to the car

Thanks for stopping by! Wishing you a wonderful day, and be sure to check back next week for part 2. Until next time…..

PS The anticipated SILVER PRESALE will begin tomorrow, there are so many exquisite pieces, you won’t want to miss it:)

Designer Spotlight- Scott Snyder part 2

Hi there, am back from my little getaway to picture perfect Palmetto Bluff/Savannah and feel so well rested and ready to roll, more on that later.  First off I want to announce the lucky winner of the La Prairie Luxe Sleep Mask, congratulations goes to….

Please contact me at theenchantedhome@gmail.com to claim your prize and provide shipping details

Back to work with lots going on. Haven’t done a Designer Spotlight in a while and today I am profiling a designer whose work I have featured before, New York and Palm Beach based Scott Synder. When it’s good it deserves an encore! Scott’s work is so timeless and elegant, and he is obviously as comfortable in a super formal setting as he is in an elegant ocean retreat,  I admire his attention to delay and how richly each and every room is done….sublime!

And of course   his love of blue and white, chinoiserie and treillage earns him extra brownie points in my book:) So here we go…..

Pretty gorgeous, don’t you think? One of my favorite things to do is study the pictures of a favorite designer or room. I can find something in each and every one that I love and  often discover a particular detail or two that I add to my own design repertoire.  How about you? Have a favorite?

Click here to see more of Scott Snyder’s work…he is really a talent and I truly love and appreciate his authentic aesthetic to beautiful interiors that will stand the test of time. Thank you as always for stopping in,  wishing you a fabulous spring day and hope the sun is shining and the birds are chirping! Until next time……

Seven on Sunday

Hello there!? Hope your weekend is going well. As you are reading this I will be high in the sky heading home from a little getaway, so hoping this will post on time for my usual Seven on Sunday. I always enjoy putting together my Seven on Sunday posts, as it’s a chance for me to share a bunch of random things that have gotten my attention. And here we go….

1 SHAKESPEARE AND COMPANY.? Been obsessed with this little Paris based most unique bookstore aka literary nirvana ever since I heard about it many years ago and my fascination continues. At a time when bookstores are closing all around us (which really breaks my heart) as there are few places that relax ?and allow me to feel at peace like a wonderful neighborhood book store can. This one is alive, well and often has a line outside the door.

It is a truly fascinating place founded by an equally fascinating man, George Whitman an American who was above all else? a quirky visionary without intending to be one, a frugal, eccentric and most interesting man. ?George has passed away and the bookstore is now run by his daughter .If you want to read more you should take a few minutes to read a truly fascinating article in Vanity Fair (click here to read)? and if you happen to go to Paris you must stop in, ?I will never forget my first visit there and cannot wait to return. Just look at this place, almost looks like something out of Harry Potter!

2. A VIDEO THAT WILL MAKE YOU CRY.? I am sorry in advance, there is no way you can watch this and not cry. For some it will bring alive memories of a parent or loved one that is gone, for others it will serve as a reminder to be kind and patient to an elderly relative that might be ill and to others like myself it is above else a reminder to cherish the “every day” we have together and not take a single moment for granted. It is so moving but so worth sharing…..love you mom and dad:)

3. CHINOISERIE PILLOWS AND SILVER. Every time I get an order in for chinoiserie custom pillows, I have to do everything in my power from stealing them…they are so beautiful. Check out the gorgeous set one of my customers is about to receive. I will expand with this exquisite line when the new site is up (hopefully in May) click here to see.

Look at how a customer displayed her chinioiserie teacup pillow…just stunning!

Silver is on its way….there will be a big presale held within the next week. So many beautiful pieces,? I am so excited! I am sure you can understand why, just look at what’s headed this way…..

5. CROSTINIS ANYONE? I think I could live on these, during the summer in particular they are my “go to” appetizer whether we are doing something impromptu or planned, they are delicious, pretty and everyone likes them, plus there are endless numbers of possible toppings.

I was thinking if we did a summer cocktail party, how fun it would be to do a crostini buffet in addition to many passed hor’deruves…..and sure enough I should have not have been surprised but found many pics on Pinterest for just that, crostini stations! I love the idea and it has me thinking that a small cocktail party might be in the works afterall, hum……

6. BOOKS I am trying to get back into the reading game again. I love to read and there are few things as ?wonderful as that feeling of getting totally lost in a great book. I love to recommend books that I have read or are currently reading and enjoying. One that I am half way through and absolutely loving is Lies and Other Acts of Love .

I especially love that it’s authored by the uber talented fellow blogger/author/friend, Kristy Harvey. She has me so engrossed in this book that it’s going on my little getaway with me and I hope to finish it on the plane, I want to meet Lovey (one of the main characters)! This book is not quite out but you can preorder by clicking here which I strongly suggest you do, it is fantastic!!

Then next on the list is The American Housewife:Stories, which I heard is at the very least quite entertaining and tells the tales of 12 “housewife” stories, apparently its satirical humor at its best and quite witty. Whats on your reading list?

7. AN INSPIRING TABLE. I am so in love with this table! It makes me want to throw a party just so I can do this citrus theme, this is from Bergdorf Goodman’s Instagram shot (first one) from a luncheon they hosted in Italy…isn’t it so pretty! Kind of has me on a kick and I found some other gorgeous citrus themed tablescapes to really whet my appetite….

Which would you choose and a giveaway!

Good morning friends and Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Don’t forget to wear your green….today I am here to talk to you about one of my favorite subjects, beauty, makeup and girly products. Sometimes we need to just take time off and treat ourselves to a little extra TLC. Amazing what something as small as treating yourself to a new product or two can do!? In today’s world of Sephora’s and Ulta’s there has never been such a plethora of products to choose from. It is downright overwhelming and I have a feeling most of you, if not all would agree.

I tend to buy things in batches, kind of my approach to Broadway, I will see 3 shows within 2 months then nothing at all for a very long stretch. Since products tend to be regulated (price wise they are normally the same price everywhere)? I like to take advantage of free gifts or promotions and Bergdorf Goodman’s beauty event is as good a time as ever to stock up and treat yourself!

I normally take stock in the spring of my makeup drawer and skincare products. I am a high/low girl….I invest in things that are really worth the money (and there are a good number)? but have found lip and eye pencils for $7.00 from my local CVS that honestly rival any $30 pencil (thank you Milani). So today is all about my favorite products,? those that are tried and true. Some have been in my arsenal for a while and others are newer.

One thing that I don’t think you should ever skimp on is skincare. I have tried them all, well not literally but MANY. La Prairie has proven to be incredible and has made me a convert and believer in taking care of my skin. It is expensive but seriously when you divide the cost into the amount of time they last, we are talking mere cents per day….and you know what- I am worth it!

Bergdorf Goodman is having their annual beauty event, so this is a great time to indulge and then get back a little which is always a nice perk:)? The more you spend the more you save. Plus a very enticing giveaway at the bottom. So….your turn to choose your two faves below, just imagine the makeup fairy paid you a visit, which would you choose?

CHOICE 1 Have used this for at least 10 years, it is as creamy as a good moisturizer and gives the most subtle natural looking glow. It is a product that I will use until I am old and gray:) Click here

CHOICE 2 This is a newer discovery, got a sample and fell in love. It has the slightest bit of illuminator so really just gives that perfect glow…click here

CHOICE 3. Yes this stuff is expensive. Really expensive but it’s hands down best eye cream I have ever used. I also figured out that it lasts me about 8 months and divided into those days, its mere cents per day…and is my face worth it? You bet! Click here

CHOICE 4. On the days I don’t wear makeup,? I normally might still use a bit of a concealer especially if I have a 4:30 wakeup as I do so many days) This concealer might be the best I have used, plus its waterproof! Click here

CHOICE 5. A friend of mine who loves skincare the way I love ginger jars swears by this. I finally caved and bought it….it is awesome. My skin feels so refreshed and it actually glows, no kidding! Click here

CHOICE 6. I wear two lipsticks, morning and night….MAC’s Angel and Bobbi Brown’s Pink Nude, love the texture of Bobbi Brown with real lasting power and as the name implies its a true neutral that goes with everything. Click here

CHOICE 7. My every day and every night moisturizer. I have tried many and let me tell you, this is the first line of products that has made me a loyal skin care devotee. I used to be really lazy and not very consistent with taking care of my skin. Genetically I was lucky but took advantage. Now I am much better-? thank you to La Prairie! Click here

CHOICE 8.? They don’t call this a miracle wand for nothing, this fantastic little wand promises to be a two step remedy to dark circles and bags, hey works for me! I have not gotten mine yet but cannot wait to…a friends sister who is in “the biz” swears by this, her testimonial is good enough for me, can’t wait! Click here

CHOICE 9. For every day I normally use? a bronzer with a little concealer where needed, I find if you? have some color on your face you don’t need much in the way of makeup. I have tried many bronzers so with the Clarins self tanner which gives a hint of color this bronzing powder, a favorite, is a great look.? Love that all of Trish McEvoy’s products are refillable, clever. Click here

CHOICE 10. Candles are part of a beauty regimen too and I always have one burning in my kitchen and the scent just permeates through the rooms around it. I have a few favorites but Diptyque is one that is tried and true and their newer fragrance, Baies is downright heavenly…..click here

CHOICE 11. I love to wear fragrance and? have a few favorites, one of which is L’eau by Narciso Rodriguez. It’s a light floral and musky, two of my favorite scents, very soft and not overpowering,? I get compliments on this all the time, I am a loyal fan and they better not stop making it! Click here

CHOICE 12. When I wear eyeshadow it’s always something in the brown tones/ neutrals. This palette from Marc Jacobs is a beautiful neutral and easy to use palette, like the long slim case too:) Click here

CHOICE 13.? Read an article in Vogue that this was a top choice for many well known makeup artists so I am willing to give it a shot.? It sounds intense- Iconic overcurl mascara, OK ready and willing:) Click here

CHOICE 14. My every day cleanser from La Prairie (yes I stay loyal) why change a good thing, actually a great thing! Best cleanser I? have ever used in that it leaves my skin feeling so soft with just a hint of a wonderful scent. Plus as I said when you divide how long these expensive products last into the days, its peanuts. Click here

CHOICE 15. This is one of the few expensive nail polishes I will buy simply because it really lasts. I wear the color Ballerina on my toes all the time, because to me it’s a neutral, a pinky/nude. Chanel’s polishes I must say really do last longer than most. Click here

CHOICE 16. Has anyone tried this? I have read about this a few times and this product keeps popping up so it must be good. I think I am going to give it a go, have never tried anything with Retinol but supposedly that is one of those “magic” ingredients….click here

So there you have my short list of favorites or things that I am eager to try. Any particular product that you love and can’t live without? A new discovery? Do tell! Now onto that giveaway…

One very lucky winner will win this full size of La Prairie’s famous sleep mask,( $315 value). A great opportunity to try one of my most favorite products in the world and one that is continuously winning awards.

All you need to do is visit Bergdorf Goodmans’s beauty department by clicking here and come back and tell us a favorite item or two from their beauty dept…you must leave a comment on this post (not email me) and that will put you in the running. A winner will be announced on Tuesday!

Don’t forget to click on over to Bergdorf Goodman to take advantage of their beauty event, why not get something back! Thank you for stopping by, wishing you a wonderful day. Until next time…..
