Hello there!? Hope your weekend is going well. As you are reading this I will be high in the sky heading home from a little getaway, so hoping this will post on time for my usual Seven on Sunday. I always enjoy putting together my Seven on Sunday posts, as it’s a chance for me to share a bunch of random things that have gotten my attention. And here we go….

1 SHAKESPEARE AND COMPANY.? Been obsessed with this little Paris based most unique bookstore aka literary nirvana ever since I heard about it many years ago and my fascination continues. At a time when bookstores are closing all around us (which really breaks my heart) as there are few places that relax ?and allow me to feel at peace like a wonderful neighborhood book store can. This one is alive, well and often has a line outside the door.

It is a truly fascinating place founded by an equally fascinating man, George Whitman an American who was above all else? a quirky visionary without intending to be one, a frugal, eccentric and most interesting man. ?George has passed away and the bookstore is now run by his daughter .If you want to read more you should take a few minutes to read a truly fascinating article in Vanity Fair (click here to read)? and if you happen to go to Paris you must stop in, ?I will never forget my first visit there and cannot wait to return. Just look at this place, almost looks like something out of Harry Potter!

2. A VIDEO THAT WILL MAKE YOU CRY.? I am sorry in advance, there is no way you can watch this and not cry. For some it will bring alive memories of a parent or loved one that is gone, for others it will serve as a reminder to be kind and patient to an elderly relative that might be ill and to others like myself it is above else a reminder to cherish the “every day” we have together and not take a single moment for granted. It is so moving but so worth sharing…..love you mom and dad:)

3. CHINOISERIE PILLOWS AND SILVER. Every time I get an order in for chinoiserie custom pillows, I have to do everything in my power from stealing them…they are so beautiful. Check out the gorgeous set one of my customers is about to receive. I will expand with this exquisite line when the new site is up (hopefully in May) click here to see.

5. CROSTINIS ANYONE? I think I could live on these, during the summer in particular they are my “go to” appetizer whether we are doing something impromptu or planned, they are delicious, pretty and everyone likes them, plus there are endless numbers of possible toppings.

I was thinking if we did a summer cocktail party, how fun it would be to do a crostini buffet in addition to many passed hor’deruves…..and sure enough I should have not have been surprised but found many pics on Pinterest for just that, crostini stations! I love the idea and it has me thinking that a small cocktail party might be in the works afterall, hum……

6. BOOKS I am trying to get back into the reading game again. I love to read and there are few things as ?wonderful as that feeling of getting totally lost in a great book. I love to recommend books that I have read or are currently reading and enjoying. One that I am half way through and absolutely loving is Lies and Other Acts of Love .

I especially love that it’s authored by the uber talented fellow blogger/author/friend, Kristy Harvey. She has me so engrossed in this book that it’s going on my little getaway with me and I hope to finish it on the plane, I want to meet Lovey (one of the main characters)! This book is not quite out but you can preorder by clicking here which I strongly suggest you do, it is fantastic!!

Then next on the list is The American Housewife:Stories, which I heard is at the very least quite entertaining and tells the tales of 12 “housewife” stories, apparently its satirical humor at its best and quite witty. Whats on your reading list?

7. AN INSPIRING TABLE. I am so in love with this table! It makes me want to throw a party just so I can do this citrus theme, this is from Bergdorf Goodman’s Instagram shot (first one) from a luncheon they hosted in Italy…isn’t it so pretty! Kind of has me on a kick and I found some other gorgeous citrus themed tablescapes to really whet my appetite….

Happy Sunday, dear Tina!! Thanks for making me cry. Lucky I still have my make up on from last night. Now I don’t have to wash it off. I am reading Kristy’s book too, and loving every minute of it. The silver is so pretty. Love all your photos from Instagram – of course my fave is the one with the golden. I could positively get lost in that bookstore. Thanks for always starting my Sundays on a high note. Can’t wait to hear about your getaway!!

Thank you so much for sharing such “pretties” more often throughout the week, these beautiful pictures bring such a smile to my face. I hope you had a wonderful weekend in Bluffton. Have a safe trip home.

I look forward to my cup of coffee and your posts. Yes, I cried along with the rest of you. Caregiving is exhausting and these words are a good reminder of patience and love
I only wish my parents were still here because you surely miss them when they’re gone. I enjoy your book recommendations and just finished When Breath Becomes Air. Currently reading Guests on Earth by Lee Smith. Love your posts–you’re my favorite!

Just love your blog ! I enjoy everything about it…I have saved so many of them so I can revisit when I want a quick pick me up. Thank you for all you share with us. I do wish I could put you face with all of this !!!

Hi Tina,

Thanks so much for sharing on a Sunday. Just thought if you love the Paris bookshop, you must come over to the U.K. And visit this one in Alnwick, Northumberland. http://www.barterbooks.co.uk/
Could spend a whole day there! Keep on blogging. Can’t wait to get your emails.

My husband and I have been to Shakespeare & Company in Paris! We adore that quaint bookstore. It takes you back in time! Thanks for posting the picture.

Always a treat to read “Seven On Sunday” and reflect on my own week.
Just started a new (to me) book- SWAG – Southern Women Aging Gracefully – by Melinda Rainy Thompson. As one of those Southern Women, I find it very timely. Nice to know I’m not the only one raging against the wrinkles!
Have a great getaway.
PS- loved, loved the Dogwood.

Sunday fun! Please lock me in that beautiful bookstore! I will read and dust for food! Reading play scripts like crazy…you can never beat “The Crucible for great gut-wrenching moments!
Best to all!

Thank you for this lovely post. I had so many memories fly through my head as I looked through the pictures. Did you notice how the floors in the bookstore were dust free? The French are so absolutely spotless and clean. I need to go clean something now. ?

Just finished reading “The Nightingale” by Kristin Hannah. Wonderful book. Also, “Me Before You” and “Me After You” by JoJo Moyes – lovely story but warning…. a 2-tissue read.

I had a great time hanging out at Shakespeare in paris. It wasn’t too far a walk from our apartment. And then you added beautiful pizza, blueberry eating pups, and an American housewives book that has me intrigued. I’m on vacation til tomorrow when my 80s weather becomes a distant memory! Stay warm, friend!

American Housewife:Stories is laugh out loud funny and a very quick read. I highly recommend! In a similar vein is Calling Invisible Women by Jeanne Ray–one of my all time faves for those of us of a certain age! You would love it, I think.

“…And Ladies of the Club”
Novel by Helen Hooven Santmyer

Absolute favorite novel! Have read it regularly about every 10 years!

Cry much? It’s a good thing I waited until I got home from work to watch the video. It made me miss my mom all the more.

Love to Teddy

Debbie

Tina, I have been visiting your site Fr quite awhile…..this video touched me so much! My mother is 83 and getting quite forgetful….and to my shame I have not been as patient with her as I should be…..thank you for posting this. It was the perfect reminder that she isn’t doing these things on purpose, she is just getting Older………

We just returned from Paris and had visited Shakespeare and Company bookstore! Could not believe the timing of your post. I agree…I thought I was in a Harry Potter movie. I had commented that to the children and husband! It’s a must-see if you are in Paris!!!
