_______________

Today is my youngest sons birthday…..he is away at college many miles away, but according to his text to us late last night, had an amazing/epic birthday weekend. You don’t turn 21 everyday after all, so it’s a big big year for him! Happy birthday to my peanut.

All three of my kids are all across the globe as I speak and I wish more than anything that we were all together today. But I understand they eventually have to flock the nest and that is the cycle of life.

Moving along…..are you into the US Open? We used to be mildly obsessed, going at least two or three times to the matches, watching it every night on TV. Our enthusiasm has waned somewhat but we still enjoy it from time to time. We are having  a few people over for the big final tonight which always promises to be dramatic and fun to watch. So today will be a day of catching up on work, preparing a simple dinner and tennis excitement:) Here we go with my Seven on Sunday –

1 TURKS AND CAICOS! Well, we just got back and let me tell you it was pure HEAVEN! I am going to do a separate post on it, as it was that good and warrants it’s very own post. But here is a little “teaser’ of what is to come later this week. If you haven’t been and have the chance…..GO!

We stayed at Grace Bay Club and it was just so wonderful and relaxing, and all planned out beautifully thanks to my favorite travel agent, Sandy of You May Be Wandering. Contact her by clicking here if you have a vacation in your future. This is my new favorite island:)

3. A NEW FAVORITE SALAD. When I find a salad that is guilt free and incredibly delicious, I want to tell the world about it! This one I have been making often since I discovered it, you can also modify it to your liking, adding shrimp instead or no protein at all. I did not use the Ranch dressing but instead made a heavenly and low-calorie yogurt based dressing that  is out of this world. Click here to Life In The Loft House for salad recipe

4. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Always so much to share, and gathering favorite images all week-long has turned into one of my favorite little hobbies:) I apologize in advance that many of these feature food that is not only beautiful but looks so darn good!

I found a few new accounts which I was excited to discover, not sure that was the best thing as Instagram feels like a borderline obsession some days:)

5. BEAT THE FRIZZ ALERT! Let’s face it, in the summer months,  humidity is just part of the package. I don’t  care how gorgeous your hair is, there is no doubt that a really humid day can have you looking like a Chia pet within hours. I am always on the prowl for a magic bottle to help tame my locks.

And while this is not magic it is darn good stuff!!! It has bamboo in it..go figure!  It really controlled the frizz factor and kept my hair smooth and Chia pet free, lol.  This is a must have for your hot weather arsenal! Click here to find out more-

6. A FITTING TRIBUTE TO BILL CUNNINGHAM. Legendary fashion/street photographer Billy Cunningham is going to be sorely missed this year at NY Fashion week. I found this beautiful tribute so touching…all the photographers are donning blue jackets in his honor.

He was known for his bright blue jacket, riding around the big apple on his bike, happy as a clam just doing what he loved. Click here to read more about this.  Can’t think of a more fitting tribute to honor his legacy –

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY. Time for another survey, this time I am talking movies. Saw The Light Between Oceans which I enjoyed quite a bit but would have even more if it was about 30 minutes shorter. I must also say I think I may have slightly preferred the book though the cinematography and rugged coastal scenery was breathtaking.

Overall, aside from a few,  Hollywood in my estimation has taken a plunge, what has happened to good quality movies with REAL story lines?   They are far and few between, most of the genres that are so popular today hold no appeal to me whatsoever. Curious what you think about what Hollywood is churning out these days –

Good morning, dear Tina. Kelly Ripa always talks about how much she love T & C. It is definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for the tip on the bamboo oil – boy, can I ever use it. I will definitely order it. Great instagrams – signed up to follow a few. UGH.. I voted for Hollywood to revamp. The movies are lacking in substance. For some reason, my blogroll is not updating my wp blogs. I do get yours in my email, tho. I hate technology. Hope you have a great week.

Tina so excited about your new porcelains. I am a turquoise and orange girl. Can’t wait to buy them!

Thanks for the new salad recipe. I have tried most of your recipe recommendations and have not been disappointed. The fresh tomato and ricotta cheese is my favorite. I’ve added skillet fried asparagus in olive oil, to the tomato topping (after it has baked) and slice the asparagus after frying. Just perfect!

Anxious to see the colored porcelains you’ve selected.

Noticed pictures of blue and white porcelains with figural lids, interesting………

Can hardly wait for your next tabletops.

TIna, I have to agree, T&C is fabulous. There were nine of us so we rented a house on the beach a few years ago through TC Villas. AMAZING and very reasonable. ALWAYS book flights months in advance. I hope you had a chance to drive to Taylor Bay beach to enjoy the beautiful quiet “blue lagoon” like beach. We floated there for hours!! There is plenty to do for kids. WE snorkeled, parasailed, sailed, and went on a conch shell boat tour! We can’t wait to go back!

Well Happy Birthday to your baby boy. I know that must be so difficult for you not to be there with him for a milestone birthday. Our boys do grow up too fast! Love your new shipment, in particular the green vases, and I’m happy to hear you had a relaxing vacation. I’ll have to check out that resort, it looks beautiful.

Enjoyed your Seven on Sunday’s, as usual! I was somewhat disappointed with the movie The Light Between Oceans. It did drag in parts and was very dark. The book was excellent, but as many books, you tend to visualize the characters the way you want to “see” them. There are not many movies I want to see, but will look forward to the release of LaLa Land in December!

Tina
I was wondering what you think. I was so disappointed with the latest issue of Veranda, it used to be fabulous and very tradional. Also Bon Appetit which I have subscribed to for over 20 years has totally changed. Every page features young chefs covered in tattoos.

Tina I love your Sunday posts! There is so much here, but I am most interested in the salad recipe. I can’t wait to try it. And I also need to look up the Williams-Sonoma Instagram from the middle – that looks amazing. I’m happy that you and your family are well even if apart!

As always so much to enjoy here. Your porcelains are amazing and so beautiful, happy you are adding some colored pieces, already see three I “need”. That salad looks great and the dressing sounds yummy, I am a salad girl so this will be tried very soon.

My mom knew Billy Cunningham from her days at Conde Nast and he was one of those people who no one ever had a bad word to say about, everyone loved him. The blue jacket tribute was touching.
I agree Tina Hollywood needs to really get their act together, haven’t seen a really good movie in years. Let’s hope they start bringing back great human interest movies again. Hope you have a great afternoon.
