Derby style!

Hello friends. Yes, the much anticipated and most glamorous horse race on earth is just less than 2 weeks away, May 6th.  It is always something to talk about, and behold whether you are lucky enough to go to the Derby,  watch it on TV or host a party just because…..it’s the Derby for Pete’s sake and a heck of an excuse for a party:) We went to one a few years ago and it was one of the most fun, beautiful parties I have ever attended.

There is no denying a Derby themed party is loads of fun and elegance personified. Plus the fashion, the hats and glamour make it an event that everyone wants to be a part of. Today’s post is dedicated to all things Derby! One of the great things I love about being an American is that we find an excuse to celebrate just about anything….Some great ideas here along with some fantastic resources that you will just adore. Hope you enjoy……

So first lets take a look at some very stylish derby parties…..

I see this and sorry but first that comes to mind is giant napkin in a mega sized napkin ring..anyone else?

Ahhh such a fun idea for a party, kind of has me in the mood to throw one. Love the pomp and circumstance surrounding this epic event. And the hats are another world unto themselves.

How about you? Do you follow the Derby, throw or attend a Derby party? Do tell! Thanks for stopping by, wishing everyone a fabulous day. Until next time……

Random musings as seen through my iPhone

Good evening friends. This little elf is wiped out, a porcelain container arriving is no laughing matter….LOTS of work but oh the beauty:)  Hope all is well with you, this was supposed to post last week but time got away from me so better late than never.

BIG NEWS- The porcelain container came in today and everything is simply spectacular…even prettier in person. I want one of everything! Look for my usual one day arrival sale in the next few days (Wed or Thursday) as we finish getting all presale orders out. We have a new system in place and already got the first four batches out the door today!

I hate to talk about it as I don’t want to jinx anything but the newly revised site is really shaping up and though I am not going to promise a “to be done by” date I will say it’s sooner than later! You will get the pinterest button back and finally everyone will again be receiving my emails (via subscription)

But tonight is all about sharing with you a little snippet of my life the last week or so as I do from time time. So without further ado here we go…..

How magnificent is this vignette? Major swoon.

My favorite tray from my shop with a big Chippendale influence heading out to a lucky cusomer

Lunch break in Greenwich with a good friend

Expending a lot of brainpower lately over PB bathroom decisions!

First step of my Easter planning….bringing out the Tobacco Leaf from Mottahedeh

And I thought choosing a pale blue shutter would be a piece of cake…ha! Though I will say I have narrowed it down to two which is serious progress given the quandary I had been in the last week or so

We went walking on the beach one gorgeous Sunday, I always loved the look of silhouettes against a bright sunny sky

Gorgeous chinoiserie getting installed at a friends/customers house…

And with the newly installed Venetian mirror

Added this gorgeous pale blue velvet jumbo neckroll to my bed

Lunch with a dear friend at my favorite Greek restaurant, Limani

It’s pillow fever around here…..was kind of sad to say goodbye to these beauties that came in for a few lucky customers!

Always looking for inspiration…and these fabulous doors seen at an antique shop in CT. are very close to what I am doing on two doors flanking my stove in PB

Walked into my living room one late day afternoon and the late day sun looked so pretty had to snap a pic

Went for a beautiful nature walk with my hubs and took this artistic shot of his danging feet above…..every now and then I take an interesting/artistic shot:)

Getting my silver ready for an upcoming little get together

New GORGEOUS needlepoint/Aubusson pillows

Always mesmerized by this incredible stair at the gorgeous and iconic apt building, The Ansonia in NYC..spellbinding
!

My friends darling little King Charles Cavalier..such a cutie!!

Obsessed with this wide tape and am determined to use it somewhere, thinking PB master bedroom or living room pillows

How beautiful is this “too pretty to open” Easter present from my amazing assistant, Margaret!

Cutest dog on the internet (in my opinion)!

Seven on Sunday

Good Sunday morning to you. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Here the sun and beautiful skies have come out after a few dreary, rainy and cold days.  I have a full weekend planned and setting up for a luncheon I am hosting this week so plenty to keep me busy today. Here we go with my Seven on Sunday-

1 SHUTTER COLOR IS DECIDED!! Thanks to all who chimed in about my shutter paint color last week. I hemmed and hawed and something about my final choices was not quite right. So…….I kept on trucking and knew I would find just the right color.

It had come down to Silvermist or Nimbus Gray but I wanted something with a tinge more blue and a bit less gray.  Yes my husband thought I had lost it with the amount of time I was putting into it and yes, my persistence paid off.

I found “the one”. And  am100% sure about it. I even love the name, Nantucket Fog. As I started to do some research, it appears this is also a favorite of many designers. Here you go…..

And here it is on a piece of wood to get an idea of how it will look on a shutter, love it! Its a true blue/gray a little deeper than some of the others but I took. many’s advice about the strong fading sun and think this has just enough contrast.

2.THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DENTAL OFFICE Oh my…I have never seen such a chic dental office..have you? Mine sure does not look like this, this is downright dreamy!! Summer Thornton is the mastermind behind this beautiful office, incredible!!

I always have said if I owned a traditional office like a doctors office (or dental) that I would really work to make it feel like an upscale private home and that is exactly what she did…..brava to her!

Click here to see this incredible space and others.

3 OFF SHOULDER TOPS Loving this new style…so fresh and pretty, and they just scream chic summer dressing. I had to give in and buy a few to jumpstart my summer wardrobe. You dont’ have to wear them completely off the shoulder but these are all beautiful looks for warm weather dressing.

Ordered this, it is so darling and I thought the price was a mistake, $35.00 really? Click here

Got this a few weeks ago, love this color!!! A beautiful top dressed up or down. Click here

Love navy and white together and this simple navy peasant blouse is not only so reasonable but makes dressing a cinch, click here

Considering this one, love pink and with white slacks would be perfect for a daytime or even evening outing.  So delicate and feminine…beautiful! I have a few showers coming up and this would be perfect. Click here

4 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. No theme in particular this weekend,  just a random group of fabulousness! You can see I had a hard time this week narrowing it down…..

My fave of this week is this gorgeous picture….it is a sure sign of a very devoted Enchanted Home customer!

5. FABULOUS PILLOWS. I have worked with Studio Tullia. and my backyard and patios in the summer are a testament to just how much I love their pillows!

Some of the new arrivals from Studio Tullia have me swooning and daydreaming about a little tweaking of my very own:) Click here to see more…

6. PROVENCE PLANTER MAKEOVER! So with the planting season on our doorstep, lots of us are starting to think about coming out of hibernation and the great outdoors. Of course that means sprucing up our patios and of the first impression people get….our front doors!

So happy the Provence planters are coming back in about 2 weeks! I love giving “Provence planter makeovers”. This is a recent one when a customer needed some direction on her front door. A beautiful home that deserved an equally beautiful front door welcome. The planters presently there were way too small and actually dwarfed everything around it. When it doubt go a little bigger, not smaller.

She wasn’t sure about the color Provence planter she wanted, but we both decided black was the way to go. So stately and elegant, and it accents her black shutters beautifully. Take a look at the mini Provence planter makeover-

BEFORE

AFTER (CONCEPT)-

And even tried using two smaller Provence planters by the front door…..

OR Boxwood balls

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY The other day I had forgotten my phone aka my lifeline. I was heading to an appt. and already running late,  had no time to go back and get it and felt the anxiety rising in me about not being reachable. The shock and awe of realizing I had left it behind was telling:)  I contemplated turning around but didn’t because it would have delayed me and I couldn’t be late.

So the strangest thing happened, I went to my appt. anxiety and all, then ran a few errand afterwards and you know what? I LOVED the freedom it gave me,  I also loved the idea of unplugging (a happy accident) and taking in everything around me instead of hearing the beeps and rings go off and being distracted by my phone as is often the case.

There was something incredibly freeing about it and I really enjoyed the 3 hours or so that I didn’t have my phone. Make no mistake when I got back it looked like a mini airplane terminal with all the sights, sounds and lights going off at once from various people trying to reach me (and that includes solicitors). But I realized not only can I live without it but I actually liked being without it. And vowed to start doing this on a regular basis. Even if for an hour, it is good for mind, body and soul.

What do you think? Do you regularly “unplug” or is it just unimaginable? I will be curious to see what you have to say on the matter……

That’s a wrap, thanks as always for stopping by. Tomorrow is delivery day of the huge container of porcelains, that is always an exciting day! Wishing you a wonderful day and a great end to your weekend!:) Until next time….

As there always is, there will be a one day arrival sale early next week.If you need to confirm your order please give us a call at 1-800-804-9565 (between 9:30-5:30 EST).

Happy Friday! Hold onto your hats, this is exciting for me, really exciting. I have had a few projects in the works which I have not told you about because I really wanted to be sure they were “a go” and with luck and LOTS of hard work, this one looks like a green light….haven’t been this over the moon about a project in a while!

I have been frustrated for years over the dismal selection of gift wrap, I look high and low but have not found what I really wanted. I take my present wrapping quite seriously.  It seems so easy, helloooo……blue and white, topiaries, fun prints, ginger jars, chinoiserie, is that too much to ask? Well when I can’t find it, I attempt to create it:)

So…..for about five months I have been working on creating my own life of giftwrap:)  It is a very involved process and I have gotten a crash course along the way in how this all gets done. I hired an artist to execute my vision and lined up a manufacturer and my first round of samples are being done as I post this. The glitch is that the minimum printing is 3000 rolls per design…..yes, that’s a whole lot of paper:)

I am going forward but will not be able to introduce all the patterns all at once. I first want to “test’ the market and see how it goes and will hopefully continue to add more patterns (these are the first eight).  So….here is where you come in.

I am showing you all my designs, get ready to swoon! You get to pick four as that is what I am going to start with. I also have a few questions about wrap in general that if you can participate I would really appreciate it. Ready to see some of the prettiest wrapping paper that I have seen in a long long time? Here we go….

OK your turn to vote for your FOUR favorites-

And not to confuse you evermore but i love every single one of these combinations….

I am so excited over this, I will be looking for excuses to wrap just about anything! I think the world needs more pretty giftwrap, what say you on the matter? I look forward to hearing your thoughts, so if you don’t mind answering a few questions on the subject of giftwrap, most grateful!

Thank you in advance for your participation and feedback, always so helpful. Wishing everyone a fabulous day and great end to your week. Until next time…..

It’s All Set- April

Hello my friends, been having a beautiful string of weather here. I feel a definite pep in my step with spring here though we are due to get a succession of rainy days.  A few announcements before we start-

Thanks to all for your input on my shutter paint selection. I have it narrowed down but in the. meantime have also found one more color I am thinking could be “the one”! I will share on Sunday once the decision is made.

I know about 30% of you are not getting my emails via subscription, so sorry! We are aware of it and the newly revised site is very close to happening, once that does this subscription problem will also be corrected once and for all!

Last the porcelain container has arrived to the port! We hope to have it in our warehouse no later than Thurs or Friday. We will start getting orders out immediately upon arrival….so hang tight, if you have an order it will soon be on it’s way!

So happy to be here today with another edition of It’s All Set, a monthly group I am a part of where a group of talented tastemakers  come together to showcase a tablescape they have worked on. Let’s face it doing this is always fun and a great excuse to put something pretty together, kind of like an adults version of “dress up” 🙂

Today’s post was  based upon my Easter brunch table. Let’s call this the Easter table with nine lives as things changed and changed again. Life,  right?  A last minute change meant going from a bigger table for several to a smaller table for four. I quickly reassessed and went to work. I take a layering approach when I work on a table setting, and continue to edit until I get it right. I love the way this table came out, it just felt very springy and Easter like with a touch of elegant whimsy. Take a look-

My Mottahedeh Tobacco Leaf service is always a great starting point as are beautiful hydrangeas-

I had little time and could not find blue/purple stemmed hydrangeas so bought a potted hydrangea plant for $16 and cut them them as stems, got about 9 flowers out of it! Thanks Whole Foods:)

Got my trusty little planter ready and went to work

And my table…..before anyone gets all heated over the wrinkled tablecloth, have no fear I used a little portable steamer and it worked like magic:)

Also added a little Easter cheer to a nearby hall chest

Does it sound crazy to say I was most excited over my moss eggs? LOL they were such an unexpected and wonderful find,I love them. And since having little ones to dye Easter eggs is a closed chapter this is the next best thing.

You will most certainly want to visit all of the other talented bloggers to see what they came up with…always a worthwhile click!

Bluff Diaries Chapter 15

Good morning. Hope everyone is well and enjoyed a wonderful Easter holiday. Bet you weren’t thinking I would post another chapter so soon, neither did I!  On the PB side of things, everything is really moving along at a nice swift pace. Brick chimneys are almost up and cannot wait to see them done. We went with the pierced chimney detail which I just love.

Starting to firm up kitchen details, bath flooring and lots of other fun and exciting things. Thanks to all for weighing in on the outdoor porch flooring options. Turns out we could not use brick in the front as we could only use up to 1″ stone and the brick we used for the house does not come as a brick flat. Then we realized by using outdoor rugs on the back porch, there won’t be a lot of “floor reveal” so took that expense and will put it into millwork indoors. Hoping to get down there in a few weeks.

Today is all about a decision that needs to be made pronto, shutter color. I am tossing and turning and just when you think choosing a light blue paint is a piece of cake, you walk into a paint store and realize it’s a whole world unto itself:) Plus doing this from afar does not make it easier, if I were there, I would probably be able to. make it much faster.

I am leaning towards 1 or 2 colors here and hoping by doing this post, you can help me winnow it down!

So this is the exterior color (a soft ivory) with the roof color (a pale soft silvery gray) I want pale blue/gray shutters. Just keep this color combo in mind as you scroll along…..

These are pictures I gathered over time from my “blue shutter collection”,  a few are darker and a few lighter.  I want something in the soft gray/blue family.  Would love your opinion as I narrow it down and soon make a final choice-

Seven on Sunday

Happy Easter to all of my fellow Easter celebrating friends and readers. To  my Jewish friends and readers, hope you enjoyed a wonderful Passover. Beautiful day here, with a high getting to a whopping 76 degrees, practically summer!  I want to announce the winner of the chinoiserie tole tray. Congrats goes to-

#132 NORTH SHORE MIMI

Please email info@enchantedhome.com to provide your shipping address and color choice so this tray can be on it’s way!

Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed day with your family and. loved ones. My parents are in town so it’s going to be a day of family and togetherness (less two sons who are at Coachella, they CLAIM they did not realize it was Easter when they booked the trip…uh huh:)  Here we go with my Seven on Sunday-

1 FABRICS AND TRIMS…OH MY! I so love playing with fabrics and a current job that has been ongoing is starting to get the finishing touches.

This job is one I have been working on for the last several months and it is shaping up so beautifully. I shared some pics here (the NJ project) and will surely show a final reveal when the room is totally done. The final element will be the fabulous Ralph Lauren rug being made (to be delivered in May. We just firmed up all the pillows to be made, here is the rug-

The beautiful rug from Ralph Lauren is being made for them and due here within the month and feast your eyes on all the fabulous trims-

2 FOLLOWUP REPORTS ON A FEW THINGS I recommend things that I like and share my ideas often. Sometimes its fun to follow up when I really really like something. So here are a few recent “reviews”

Get these shoes! Love them, they are so comfortable now have them in two colors. Very chic, super comfy and a great everyday espadrille. Click here for info

These also are too cute, love the color and great scalloped shape plus the color screams ‘warm weather dressing,  here I come”! Click here for info

And finally have been using Glopro for about 10 days,  using it 3 times a week. I just recently learned what microstiumlation/mircroneedling is…and it makes perfect sense to now be able to do it at home, as traditionally this was done in a dermatologists office. It’s easy peasy but I swear its not my imagination, I think my skin is looking better and better.

I have good skin but as this sheds that first sloughy layer off of skin, so allows the skin to breath and open up the pores.  My favorite moisturizer, La Prairie really penetrates the skin. I will say this was well worth the investment and I am going to continue to do this 2-3 times a week as recommended.

I bought mine at Nordstrom as they stand behind their products no questions asked, just in case I didn’t like it. So far though, it is an absolute keeper and I think the buzz Glopro is getting is well deserved. For what a dermatologist charges, this thing pays for itself in one visit. Click here for info

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. Very “Easter heavy” and why not, it only comes once a year with a healthy dose of spring and all around pretty thrown in!

4.GORGEOUS NEEDLEPOINT PILLOWS. I so love this exquisite line of very fine needlepoint/aubusson pillows. Got in a handful and will be offering them in a flash sale soon, to “test” the market before I commit to a large order. Thoughts welcome! Please participate in this short poll-

5. PRETTIEST SCONCES! I am excited to soon start carrying this most beautiful line and went with a client to the company headquarters to see them in person. So spectacular!! I have used them for years and often use them in jobs as well, made of the highest quality.

I am using a number of them for my PB home and have their more traditional ones in my current home. Here are some of what I saw….not one I don’t just love.

And this lamp I have used so many times and for good reason,  it is positively gorgeous-

6. MR TEDDY BUNNY. Always save the best for last, say hello to our resident Easter bunny…never seen one cuter! He wishes all of you a very happy happy Easter Sunday but demanded these darn ears get taken off right after his pic was taken, he said they made him look like a donkey. What can I say, he is one smart dog:)

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY. So today, this is about summer and your plans or lack of plans: Never have I appreciated and enjoyed the blessing of no agenda as I do now that am working full time.

For me summer signifies the loosening up of a strict regimented non stop schedule. Its time to sit back and indulge in cocktails (sometimes before 5), lobster rolls and beach days. Of course mixed in with work as life doesn’t stop but taking more time to chill. Summer almost feels like a “temporary free pass” to take extra time off and relax a bit more than we might other seasons. How about you? What does summer mean to you?

And that my friends is a wrap. Hope you enjoyed this post. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter and a happy Sunday.

Always love to hear from you and happy you make me a part of your Sunday every weekend morning. Until next time…….

AS OF MONDAY MORNING- Brand new flash sale on the most exquisite line of brass/crystal lamps. You will not find  more beautiful lamps! Click here to view

The making of a sunroom……

Hello and hope you are doing well on this fine spring day. So excited to bring you this post! I feel a definite pep in my step now that I can walk out of the house without a jacket and scarf. Forgot just how good it feels! Plus waking up the birds chirping is a sure and welcome sign:)

I recently finished a sunroom that came out so beautiful, I could have moved right in. It was something that was done for a concept house and there was a really short window in which to complete it, what can I say….I work well under pressure! Of course I brought my signature blue and white to the mix as the room just called for it.

I wanted it to be light, airy and welcoming. The beautiful painted brick walls were a wonderful compliment and added a nice touch of texture. Got the beautiful and so affordable furniture from Decor Market which included the elegant sofas, gorgeous pale blue console and one of my favorite coffee tables of all time.

Everything else is from me, it was a great opportunity for me to showoff  some of my favorite things. I loved it so much I even had an ad made, which will be used down the road. So here it is!!  First a look at “behind the scenes” and then at the end is the big reveal of the professional pictures (and my ad).

Here is a “behind the scenes” as this room came together-

This is the space, a pretty painted brick wall and the big windows with the trellis mullions were a naturally pretty starting point

The lighting had to go!

First step was bringing in this fabulous indoor/outdoor rug from Decor Market,  so love it and think I may use this very rug in PB

Many have emailed me about his rug here is the link-

http://decormarket.com/safavieh-four-seasons-rug-frs244m.html

Added one of my favorite coffee tables (can you believe only around $800), also from Decor Market, so chic and stylish

Comfortable classic looking English arm sofas being delivered ( from Decor Market) and we are starting to have a room!

It was the perfect place to add my blue/white bamboo lantern

The very first thing I chose was this beautiful blue. painted French looking chest (Decor Market). It was a beautiful starting point, and from here everything else came together quite effortlessly….

The “ingredients” in a holding pattern

A trusty helper hanging the brackets

And the brackets are up with my mid sized pagodas

How beautiful are these pillows! From Studio Tullia (except the middle one is part of my own collection)

Hard to believe this planter is from my faux stone line and the orchids are too! This arrangement came out so pretty, I am going to add it to my own home very soon:)

I swear my backseat needs its own reality show…you never know what you will find there!

Console looking good because let’s face it blue and white makes everything look pretty:)

LOVE the Provence planters filled with fresh palms, the picture of elegance!

THE BEST PART! So are you  ready to see the beautiful professional pictures, and let’s face it, nothing can hold a candle next to those. Rest your eyes on these gorgeous pictures…….

And here is my ad-

Bluff Diaries Chapter 14

Hello and happy spring late afternoon!  We are having the most amazing string of weather, it feels like summer, got up to almost 80 degrees! On the PB front,  things are starting to really chug along, the decision making is going to intensify and I really need to get my thinking cap on.

One of the bigger and most pressing decisions is how to treat the flooring on the front and back porch. Before I get to that here are the latest pictures of where things stand…it’s really shaping up! This week it’s all about getting those chimneys up and up they are going.

Our builder Cameron Builders is doing a great job at keeping us updated with pictures and frequent progress reports and in the loop, it makes doing this from afar easier than I would have thought:)

Exciting to see the brick chimneys  getting put up!

And we are experimenting with shutter colors next to the exterior and roof color

Another round, getting closer!

And we have a front and back door!

Right now the flooring on both patios is a standard ground shell/concrete floor which many keep as is. I however see something a little more interesting. I am thinking for the front a herringbone brick, which I love the look of.

In the back I am considering Peacock pavers, would have loved the brick but not sure about the “bumpy” nature of brick. It is a huge covered patio and I am sure, it is a space we will use a lot. There is going to be a BBQ, a fireplace and plenty of seating so I want it to not only  look good but of course be practical/functional.

So here are some of my ideas and of course, I welcome any suggestions you might have. One major perk of my blog is the exchanging of ideas, which I so love to read. So here we go…..

So brick is always beautiful and the flat brick (less than an inch) is so convenient when you need something thinner-

Love these tones of brick and have always been drawn to brick done in a herringbone pattern

So here are a bunch of my ideas….not one I don’t just love!

Blue stone above is very pretty, which we have had but it gets very hot also don’t want something so gray

And then there are the peacock pavers equally beautiful…

Can we talk about how utterly charming this is above? And how Peacok Pavers were so able to so easily be used to “blend” the old with the new

This color above and below is what I am loving, champagne

OK your turn to weigh in, have you ever done brick or pavers on a patio (enclosed or a front porch)? If so would love to know your thoughts on the matter and how it has held up, what kind of heat conductor it is,etc….Really appreciate your feedback and will be paying close attention as this is a decision that needs to be made very soon!

Thanks for stopping in, wishing you a wonderful day. Until next time…..

PS The Chinoiserie tole sale is happening. Lots of great things like the new obelisks, and of course the fabulous Provence planters which will be here in time for spring planting!Take advantage of lowest prices before they come in, click here to see all the beautiful items being offered.
