I’m beyond thrilled to be at The Enchanted Home today telling you about my perfect fall day! ?Fall is my favorite season for several reasons. ?The biggest is that it’s such a huge RELIEF to feel the brisk air following a summer in Dallas. ?After the oppressive heat, the cooler weather is energizing. ?And even though I’m the mom of a high schooler, I still associate fall with the excitement and fun of school starting, football season, and all of the socializing that ensues.?
? I’m not a big fan of traditional fall colors, but I love to get to see the beautiful red leaves in autumn. ?I want to sit on this bench and enjoy all that color.
So, Tina flattered me by asking me to share my “perfect fall day.” ?A lot of this is pure fantasy. ?Not much of it bares any semblance to a “typical” fall day for me as I normally would be working. ?What fun to imagine all the possibilities! ?First, I would wake up around 9:00 to the sound of my husband bringing me coffee on this tray.
Geographically impossible, but this would be the view from my window. ?The day would be sunny, cloudless, and 60 degrees.

My breakfast would look something like this, but with lots of cracked pepper, some raspberry jelly and ?fresh strawberries.
On my perfect day, I’d have an outdoor space like above where I’d spend a bit of time after breakfast. ?With my iPad, a great interior design book, and more coffee, I’d be quite content.?

Then, I’d go inside and get dressed for the day. ?

When the weather starts getting cooler, I love this moisturizer. ?It’s very much worth the splurge. It provides the perfect amount of moisture without being heavy or greasy. ?Never mind that after ?purchasing it, the rest of my cosmetics need to come from CVS. ?

After my leisurely morning at home, my sister and I would visit blue print to shop for art and antiques. ?Of course, my fantasy day has to include lots of shopping. ?And, since it’s my perfect fall day, we would both purchase many items. ?
After all that shopping, we’d need some lunch. ?We’d head to Sevy’s to meet fun friends and brag?tell?about all of our morning’s purchases. ?I’d order the Hickory Grilled Chicken Salad which is pictured above. ?

After lunch, my sister and I would go to Ceylon et Cie, Michelle Nusbaumer’s shop, for more shopping. ?The two pagodas above would be mine.

Then we’d run by Again and Again?and?see lots of incredible mid-century that we simply couldn’t live without. ?By this point in the day, it’s most likely carpool time. ?On my perfect fall day, my daughter would have no homework or extra-curricular activities, so we’d go for gelato at Paciugo, and I’d hear all about her day.

Then, we’d go home, rest a bit, and get ready for an evening out. ?My husband, daughter and I love La Duni. ?I’d order what you see below, and we’d all share the Cuatro Leches cake which is even tastier than it looks.

My daughter and I adore musical theater. ?My husband will gladly escort us to performances, so we’d go straight from dinner to The Winspear Opera House where my favorite musical, Guys and Dolls, would be playing.?
??
My daughter and I had the best time coming up with our fantasy cast. ?What an incredible show this would be! ?If any readers out there happen to be casting directors, please see what you can do to make this happen.

What a perfect way to end a perfect day!

Thank you so much, Tina, for having me. ?I’m so excited to get to be part of your fun series. ?I absolutely loved imagining my perfect fall day and getting to be here!
OK Jennifer, you have every one of my senses in serious overdrive here!! Can I please join you for this fall day? Its too amazing to not share:) From the outfit to the delectable food choices to that gorgeous sunroom to decompress from all the fabulousness…..and then ending it with the dream cast? Hellooooooo……this has my name all over it too! And the chic shopping stops and gelato breaks is the icing on the cake! Perfect in every way. I am sure everyone reading this is nodding their head in agreement right about now:)? Click here to visit Jennifer over at The Pink Pagoda. Thank you for sharing this amazing day with us, and wishing everyone a really fabulous fall day! (Enjoy them while they last). Kind of makes me wish fall could stick around a little longer!

A perfect fall day with Jennifer of Belclaire House!

Good Tuesday morning to you! Here today for another installment of “ A perfect fall day” with one of my favorite?bloggers, one who infuses a fun playful sense of humor with a healthy dose of self deprecation that is so endearing, and her fair share of fabulous taste! She keeps me going back for more. Besides how can I not feel a bond with her since we both share an insane love for all things blue and white:)
Stylish Jennifer just moved into her dream home (big congrats on that) and is settling in as we speak…my heart goes out to her, I know full well how utterly exhausting it is to move but Jennifer I assure you it is ?worth every sore muscle, every aching muscle, every hour of stress and super sore feet?every package of cookies and bags of chips eaten out of stress! I was so happy to get her take on a perfect fall day, one that she is probably wishing she could take right about now:) This day spoke to me on many counts…..we could be great fall friends! If you are not a visitor already of?Belclaire?House, please stop over to visit, I assure you that you will most definitely make it a regular habit. Enough of me, lets join Jennifer on her perfect fall day…….

The?perfect?way to end a?perfect?fall?day?would be??????A glass of red wine, my new favorite is Patz & Hall 2010 Jenkins Ranch, and a good TV show to watch while I snuggle on the couch with my husband. We love a good TV show, quality programming like The Bachelor. ?

A perfect fall day with Debra of Acquired Objects

Good morning…happy to be here with another wonderful blogging friend, Debra of Acquired Objects.  Lucky Debra lives on a beautiful picturesque large piece of property in the idyllic countryside of New Hampshire. She gets to no doubt,  experience fall at its finest as to me, there is no prettier place to celebrate fall than in the pastoral New England landscape.  Debra  has fabulous very refined taste…no surprise given her business of dealing with gorgeous antique textiles, throws and pillows. Her company, Oreillers is worth the click over if not to just drool and I do mean drool!

Think Fortuny and luscious 16th, 17th and 18th century textiles…I know I know, lucky lady! She is also a kind hearted, funny, taste maker whose blog Acquired Objects is a favorite to many of us bloggers and with good reason. Whether she is posting on the restoration of her fabulous barn/artists studio or gabbing about a favorite design theme or even posting about the feast she put together for her husbands birthday…… one sure thing is that its worth reading about. I am always fascinated by what Debra has to say. So I was super thrilled that she joined me here today to tell us all about her perfect fall day and it is as perfect as I had suspected it would be! Welcome Debra…….take it away!

                                                             ______________________________

One word that comes to mind when I think of fall?? aging! My birthday’s in late summer but everyone thinks it’s fall since it’s the middle of September.

One of the most wonderful things about fall is…….cooler temperatures so I can wear my big cozy sweaters. Have you ever worn cashmere pants? You should try them I love them!

My favorite fall color is????sapphire, that rich ocean deep blue.

On a perfect fall day, I would wake up at ???four but then again that’s a normal time for me I simply wake up. I love being up early when the world is quiet and I get to watch the day wake up.

To the sound of????birds and the scent of pine in the air.

The view from my window looks something like this……

The ideal fall weather could be described this way………cool and crisp in the morning with warm Indian summer temperatures in the afternoon.

My ideal morning activity would be???.hiking Dylan dog of course!

This is a fall outfit you might see me in????.

A favorite product (beauty or otherwise) I like to use as the weather gets nippier????Decleor Aromessence Neroli from Paris. This stuff is amazing and as the temperatures get colder this serum protects my skin from the elements and hydrates my skin.

For a fall breakfast I would indulge in???French Toast and bacon!

My favorite daytime activity in the fall is????Being stuck inside all day is not my thing so getting to enjoy any time outside with Dylan is perfect, when he’s upright.

Here’s what’s on my plate for lunch…….I keep it very light for lunch since I don’t want to get sleepy in the middle of the day. Anything with avocado gets my vote!

Around 3pm you might find me???????with my head in the frig looking for one of these for a pick me up! It only has 100 calories so it isn’t bad for you.

An afternoon “pick me up” snack might just be……..almonds or nuts because I can eat them at my desk.

For dinner you might find this cooking on the   stove…………Anything with pasta. Pasta is great because you can toss in any leftover veggies you may have or simply toss it with garlic, olive oil and parmesan cheese and you have a tasty simple meal.

The perfect way to end a perfect fall day would be??????With my men in front of a fire with a glass of wine!

Can you see why I am a fan along with so many others? Love her style, her day is absolute perfection in my mind. And a happy belated birthday to you Debra, my son also shares a September birthday as well.  I am all about cozy sweaters, roaring fires, pasta dinners and hikes in the fabulous foliage must be such a thrill! Lucky Dylan. Being a fellow Starbucks fan..I can attest to the healing powers of  that “energy in a bottle”! Thanks so much for an inside peek into your perfect day, if you want to pop over to Acquired Objects to say hi…please do, click here to visit Debra. Thank you Debra and thanks to all of you for stopping in…….so how does this tie in with your perfect day?

Growing up in the
rolling hills of Pennsylvania,
I spent many  “Sunday drives”
with my parents or grandparents
heading off to view
nature’s explosion of color
in October.

A wonderful family tradition.

A perfect fall day with Mary Ann of Classic Casual Home!

Good morning my dear readers. Well, you are in for another wonderful treat by yet another wonderful and talented blogger friend. Say hello to Mary Ann of the popular blog, Classic Casual Home. First a forewarning…….this post may evoke strong feelings of jealousy, so proceed at your own risk. “Poor” Mary Ann lives in the beautiful idyllic coastal town of Newport Beach…yes I know so sad:( And this poor soul gets to grill all year long, enjoy lunches on the beach in the dead of winter and thinks having to “brave the elements” in a trench coat is roughing it.

Poor Mary Ann…..if she wasn’t so darn sweet, it would be easy to be insanely jealous but instead I am in awe of all she does and love seeing life from her sunny perspective. She has super stylish friends besides owning a gorgeous beach home herself…..and all she does is done with great grace and that enviable classic easy going California style. So if you don’t know Mary Ann yet……you are missing out! Enough talking…lets hear from Mary Ann on her take on a perfect fall day, California style…..

Thanks so much, Tina, for inquiring about my

Perfect Fall Day.

I split my time between two beautiful locations, Mammoth Lakes (in the Sierra mountains) and Newport Beach, California.  Both are great places to spend a perfect day.

One word that comes to mind when I think of fall??pumpkins
inside and outside
One of the most wonderful things about fall is…….changing the look of our home with autumn branches and
and my wool, instead of linen, pillows.

My favorite fall color is…
Yellowy gold…like on the far hill in this Van Gogh painting or
this soft alpaca throw from Crate and Barrel...

On a perfect fall day, I would wake up at….at 7 am feeling fully rested and ready to jump out of bed

To the sound of…my husband making me a cappuccino

The view from my window looks something like this…
in Mammoth, Ca

or Lido Bay

The ideal fall weather could be described this way…
“Sweater Weather” 70 degrees and sunny and cooler at night.

My ideal morning activity would be?a hike to Crystal Lake, in Mammoth…
only accessible by foot.

This is a fall outfit you might see me in???
Newport Beach   and   Newport Beach  or
          Mammoth      and     Mammoth

A favorite product (beauty or otherwise) I like to use as the weather gets nippier…
Kiehls Creme de Corps  A great body moisturizer that my mother gave us.  Our skin gets extra dry with the high altitude in Mammoth, Ca.

For a fall breakfast I would indulge in..
“Indulge” you said so…A bagel sandwich with egg, Swiss cheese and crispy bacon, another cappuccino and animated conversation my walking buddies.

My favorite daytime activity in the fall is…..
Well, since this is a perfect day, no work or laundry, just reading The Enchanted Home.

Here’s whats on my plate for lunch…
A arugula salad with sliced pear and toasted walnuts, shaved parmesan, a spritz of fresh lemon juice and drizzle of good olive oil.

Around 3pm you might find me,
on my bicycle headed to ride on the boardwalk at the beach or curled up with a bunch of new magazines.

An afternoon “pick me up” snack might just be……..
dark chocolate

For dinner you might find this cooking on the stove….
Since our Meyer lemon tree in Newport Beach is  producing lots of lemons again…
We grill all year round here.

The perfect way to end a perfect fall day would be?
An electric boat sunset cruise with a couple of fun girls
(Brooke and my daughter, Alie).

Thanks, Tina for allowing me to dream about
My Perfect Fall Day. You are so good about encouraging us
enjoy our dreams!

OK Mary Ann, now that you said reading my blog would be part of your perfect day….I will reconsider being jealous of you and your lifestyle…lol. Absolutely wonderful! This is going to make an awful lot of people wish they were spending their fall days in sunny happy California! I loved your take and everything from your food choices(if you clik on their names, she was kind enough to include a link to their recipes) to your afternoon activities all sound fabulous, I would happily accompany you on any part of this dreamy day. Thanks for being part of this and thanks to all my readers for stopping in. Want to hear and know more about Mary Ann? Then stop on over at her blog, Classic Casual Home and say hello.
