Which would you choose?

Good evening from icy, snowy, messy New York.? Yesterday it was snow, today we are in the midst of a serious snow/ice storm. CRAZY weather, this is a winter surely to go down in the history books! I am so over winter, and praying for an early spring. Moving along…..

I cannot tell you how touched I was by all of the comments regarding my empty nester post yesterday and all the emails I received too…not only did you offer such? amazing and encouraging advice but honestly the kindness bestowed upon me brought tears to my eyes, thanks to you I am now feeling a wee bit more optimist about my soon to be empty nester status:) Whether you are an empty nester, soon to be one, or still have little ones at home…..reading over the comments is heartwarming and if you have an extra few minutes, I really encourage you to do so (click here). They would make a wonderful book! Thank you, I know I will refer back to it time and time again:)

So imagine this, the furniture fairy has paid you a visit…she is going to grant you with one wave of her wand a brand new fully done up living room! So imagine for a minute, one of these gets to be yours…which would it be? I set it up poll style…and since there are so many pretties, you can vote for two, so think hard:)

Bonkers over belljars!

Hi there, hope you are having a wonderful weekend.? Well its obvious that I love belljar lighting. Besides the fact that I sell them, have them in my own home, I have also used them for different design jobs that I have worked on and find them to be some of the most versatile lighting out there. They are classically beautiful and with the different designs, they can lean more towards very traditional all the way to more modern. I love them!

As I am starting to wrap up some lighting decisions in my own home (a number of areas that still do not have lighting), I had a “aha” moment and realized that the perfect solution was under my nose the entire time! The belljars of course. So, several are en route to me as we speak and I can hardly wait!

I particularly love my line (yes I am partial) as they are done with beautiful hand etched detailing…very special plus the heavy discount makes them even prettier:) So today a look at gorgeous belljars and all their many possibilities. How about you? Own any? Would like to? Putting this post together has me wanting to put belljars in every room! Take a look and see what you think….

?Gorgeous in this foyer done by Suzanne Rheinstein

Stunning foyer is amazing with the understated elegance of a beautiful belljar, Douglas Newby

?Tammy Connors got it right by adding this beautiful belljar to this gorgeous foyer!

Adore them in a hallway or foyer as well, Windsor Smith
?Isn’t this a beautiful space! Amelia Handegan
?This is so beautiful! Phoebe Howard strikes again
?They work beautifully in a more cottage type room….this is such a pretty space!
I love this idea for a reading nook…..perfect! Marcus Design

?A trio works beautifully above a kitchen island!

?Beautiful belljar looks perfect in this sumptuous bathroom

?Lovely in the beautiful new bathroom of Brook’s from Velvet and Linen

I think they are a perfect solution to virtually any bath, way more interesting than high hats, House Beautiful

I like the idea of a frosted belljar in this beautiful soft tone on tone bathroom…..gorgeous!!

?Clearly Barry Dixon is a fan…..beautiful!
?They add just the right amount of lighting, to create a soft beautiful glow
Even for more transitional spaces, they just work!

?Love seeing a lineup of belljars such as in this beautiful space by Huge Randolph Macon Architects

?Simply beautiful! Fox
I like the idea of mixing different lighting, there are no rules, Candleabra Lighting

The diamond cut design is a beautiful and classic choice…..

?Love a pair in a foyer…always works! Marcus Design
?I have yet to see a kitchen space that they do not look wonderful in

?Who said they are just for outside! They look fabulous on this covered porch, The Newlywed Diaries

?Gorgeous statement in this fabulous pantry, Joy Tribout
How pretty they are as a grouping in this beautiful dining room by Rinfret

Love this setting and the simple elegance of the belljar is spot on, Barry Dixon

?They make a beautiful statement as a trio above a kitchen island! Providence Design

I really love the understated statement belljars make even in the grandest of homes…..Douglas Newby

And work as beautifully in a more transitional/modern space as they do a more traditional one, LA Home
?Love this bathroom by Barry Dixon
?A perfect lighting choice in this stunning bathroom by Jennifer Eisenstadt
The belljar is a mighty versatile form of lighting, The Fuller Review

A close up of my own belljars, which I just love!

One of my all time favorite closets by Barry Dixon, the lighting is the perfect finishing touch!

And to show I practice what I preach…here is my own kitchen with a pair of the tulip belljars!

Well…..what do you think? Pretty gorgeous, and if that doesn’t convince you that belljars can and do work in just about every kind of space, don’t what will. That is one heck of a beautiful argument:)? If you are in the market for a belljar, absolutely visit my shop to take a look at my beautiful collection. Below are a few of my personal faves….

Happy New Year and Happy Anniversary! Your home is wonderful. I was so pleasantly surprised at Christmas by my two closest friends. They gave me the fabulous silver planter I have had my eye on for the longest time! I can’t wait to use it. So my next want from the store is one of the smaller silver planters. This is a bad (wonderfully bad) place for me! Thank you.

So how is 2013 treating you so far? With the exception of my husband coming down with pneumonia, it was a wonderful holiday season. Funny,? New Years day unexpectedly ended up being one of the best days. First off, ? it was the first day in 8 days that hubs felt up to getting fully dressed and coming downstairs, then it was a continuation of our movie marathon, we watched Dances with Wolves, Meet Joe Black, Under the Tuscan Sun? and a few others, all the while I was cooking the entire day (but really loving it) I made beef stew, paninis, homemade basked mac, even small apple tarts..yes I was on a roll! My husband spent a lot of time exploring my blog and was thoroughly entertained and it was just a great family day, alongside a roaring fire, it was spent at home enjoying each others company….it was cold outside but really warm and cozy inside. So life is slowly getting back to normal after the holiday blizzard (not literal but the whirlwind). I have yet to take down any decorations…thinking I will give it another week, not quite ready to say goodbye to the magic of Christmas or the hard work I put into it:)

?

Today’s Which Would You Choose is a fun one. Roll with me here……the designer fairies have paid you a visit. Hey, its a new year…time for a change, right? They have told you that you get to have one designer of your choosing redo your entire home soup to nuts. Only catch? You cannot have any say, you are at their talented mercy and must go on a little “vacay “for a week while they work their magic. Which of these talented tastemakers would you trust to redo your entire home? Many if not most you know, but I have also included two pictures of their work that I think? represents their style. This is a tough one, though I think I have it narrowed down to two. No wait, I mean three. OK, two. Here we go…..so which would you choose!?

Canopies, Caronas and Crowns…..oh my!

Happy Wednesday to you! As I am starting to finally think seriously about my guest room and my own bedroom (at long last), one look I am continuously drawn is canopied beds and beds with crowns. Yes, it is very classic and traditional, having been done for centuries but now you also see it being done with a modern twist to give it a fresher cleaner feel. Its a beautiful way to use a favorite fabric or combination of fabrics and just feels so “cocoonlike”.?

I remember the very first?time I slept in a bed with a soaring crown was in a beautiful hotel room in Belgium about 15 years ago. I felt like a royal and must say I had an awfully great nights rest. So….am sure I want to do the same thing in ?my own guest room and today’s post is a tribute to all the wonderful treatments that can be applied to a bed. What are your thoughts? Is it a like? A love? Would love to know! Here we go………feast your eyes on these beauties!

This beautiful bedroom has been an inspiration for my guest room, love the check fabric used inside, think it makes it less fussy and crisp feeling, Joy Tribaut
The colors here are my favorite, I like the idea of a very quiet print with solid colored muted bedding, so inviting! TH
Beautiful application, love how the fabric matches the wallpaper, also love the gathered carona, ?Kendall Wilkinson
LOVE the scalloping detail on this vision in ivory, Phoebe Howard
Always adored this bedroom, so serene and inviting! Cathy Kincaid
?Fun twist on a traditional room for a lucky young lady! Palmer Weiss
How pretty is the soft billowy fabric used as a canopy? So soothing and calming…..Howard
Thom Felicia’s bold take on a modern day canopy bed
Mary McDonald dreamt up this vision in white!
Wiliam Eubanks designed this fabulous master retreat using warm soothing tones…so elegant!
How sweet is the pink gingham? Love it! Shes so pretty
This sumptuous room by Mario Buatta just screams “come jump here” and bring your mags and books with you (and a indulgent little snack too:)
Love this serene oasis of a room, the scale of the room makes it feel majestic, Veranda
Always been a fan of this gorgeous dreamy room of canopied twin beds, Cathy Kincaid
Love pretty prints in rich warm tones for a canopy as Rinfret did in this elegant retreat
Love this monochromatic take on an elegant modern daybed….beautiful!
Of course everything Ralph Lauren touches turns to gold or at least into a bed fit for a princess!
Solis Bentancourt’s modern take on a pair of canopy beds, pretty!
And for a more masculine approach, canopy beds can still work…as shown here in Cottage and Gardens.
I really like Michael S. Smith’s take on a more transitional cleaner feel on a canopy bed, Elle Decor
Barry Dixon designed this fabulous retreat in brown, love the feeling!
And finally….who said canopy beds are just for humans? ?Aristopaws
Too cute! Chinoiserie Chic
Had to throw in mans best friends, they like to live in great style too! So….whats your take? Do you love this look? Do you favor it more traditionally or like the more modern take? To me, its just beautiful any which way. As always, love to hear what you think. Wishing you a fabulous day!
