I am excited to be adding some wonderful new finds to my online shop. At its onset, I said I would not sell anything I wouldn’t put or love to have in my own home and this is so true. I truly love each and every item I sell. One thing I have a bit of a fetish for is wonderful linens, textiles, etc……just love them! ?I am especially fond of ones that are French. So when I find them I grab them for my own kitchen. Ironically they are not so easy to find. So naturally I was thrilled to discover a wonderful connection and am even happier to announce that I will be carrying them in my online store. Beautiful textiles from France! I will be carrying the bar and dish towels and sets of placemats to start. I may eventually carry tablecloths and runners too. These are wonderful and ?chic accents ?for any kitchen. Check them out……

They are so great looking, some hang them too!

Love the set of 6 assorted placemats, this is the Burgundy Collection..tres chic!

Moving along…..got my pretty chair for my bathroom! I am going to recover the plain white cushion in a fabric and for now just draped my window treatment fabric over it..have to say I really love the chair. ?Also you will notice the pictures are many sizes, I am experimenting with sometimes posting larger pictures. I do like seeing pictures in big sizes, what do you think/like? Take a look….

Isn’t?it pretty? I have always loved the idea of a pretty French chair in a bathroom. I could add the same fabric to the cushion and contrast it with the gingham that i have on the underside of the window treatment. It has come out exactly as I had hoped.

So……remember my little rosettes for the ?mirror project? Well, I like to torture myself and found yet another possibility, this one in a very similar “nickel” finish. I decided as long as I was splurging at 3.99 for 3……..I might as well try them all! Interestingly enough, I think I really like the original choice but would love to know what you think!! Here they are……
Original choice at top, darker lower left and nickel-y one bottom right

The originals
The darker,

The darker to me feels too dark and I am not feeling the silver, what are your thoughts?
Heres the original again……just ignore the wire in the middle:)
Starting to think about my dining room..the poor empty neglected room that it is. So heres our rug and a chinoiserie paper Alexis Hampton used in a New Orleans home that I always go back to…..think maybe doing it a little less busy but those same soft, warm colors and maybe the palest blue silk billow drapes, you know ginger jars are part of the picture and heres the Ralph Lauren chandelier we got………
Last I was going through my seemingly endless number of boxes still to be unpacked and came across something I wanted to share. I have always been a pretty creative person. One year I wanted to make a special card for a dear friends birthday and looked high and low and couldn’t find it, so I made one. Someone saw it and fell in love and asked if I could make a birth announcement card for her daughter. I took her on and the rest is history. I had fun off and on for about a year with my little card business, took them to a few local boutiques all of whom started carrying them and I started getting orders. Many orders.?
I truly honestly enjoyed every moment of making them. Even when I had 200 or 300 to complete. It was all me, no helpers, no staff, no wing men. Sometimes I worked until the wee hours of the morning to fulfill an order that was due the next day. It could have grown into something more…but then my kids kept me busy and we decided to move and you know what happened then! The next four years of my life took over with not a spare minute. But I must say I really miss my little cards and seeing item brought back some wonderful memories. I hope I find some of the ones I did for Halloween and Thanksgiving parties, a great one I did?for someones 50th and yet another for a big anniversary party. Its awfully gratifying to play a role in a happy occasion for someone……….

So thats whats up on this Friday. Wishing you a wonderful day and a superb weekend. Isn’t it crazy that we are down to the last weekend before Labor day!! Holy moly…….where did the time go? I just cannot believe its about time for fall! Lets savor and cherish these quickly vanishing summer days while we can……

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Hi there……hope you are off to having a wonderful holiday weekend, whether you are on the road, traveling, doing something big or nothing at all! We are going on a friends boat, have dinner plans and invited to a?BBQ, and possibly having some family over, ?to me the perfect way to spend?a lazy holiday weekend. Originally, we were going to go to Newport but my sons team is in his county playoffs so he has to be around for practices, which is just as well. I am looking quite forward to a more low key weekend. I would love to do some gardening too but have to admit I am petrified of getting poison ivy, to which I am highly allergic and its rampant here! Hopefully the weather will cooperate with?our plans, it has been ridiculously rainy, muggy and humid all week long…we need a break! How about you? Whats on your agenda? Anything exciting?

So here ?this is just a bunch of randomness (something I am getting good at)!

So we finally got in the last batch of sconces for our downstairs hallways and leading down to the basement. So nice for it to finally be done!

Was so excited that I got my wallpaper done in the powder room! Bad news is we were short, originally we were going to have a chair rail and paneling so we ordered paper under that assumption but then I decided against it, so we are short 2 rolls, getting it next week and will finish then but you get the idea! Love the mood and the way it transformed the space. Cannot wait to get the onyx top and sink put in, add the chinoiserie feeling mirror and get some window treatments done, add the chandelier and we are done! Its kind of a pewter metallic-y paper from Schumacher (one of go to faves) in warm and cool tones…… Woo hoo…..

For those of you who didn’t see my window treatments in my bathroom, here they are….for those who did sorry I am just loving how it came out!

One of the lines I carry that I love love love is the European kitchen line, so finally got a few Bavarian bread boards for myself….really really like these! This weekend I will serve crostinis and a baked brie on them. In the meantime, they are pretty just to have on display.

One of the fun parts bout blogging is discovering new sites, new people and sharing our discoveries along the way! One I recently discovered and adore is Jenny Stebbens. She is a talented modern day Martha! Love her style, aesthetic and her user friendly approach. A fabulous go to resource for recipes that are not difficult but really fabulous and the presentation well…..you will see what I mean! So she came out with her Summer guide on everything from grilling recipes, appetizers, drinks to table settings…you absolutely must check it out! Click here to visit??and a sneak peek…..

Sorry if I am making you hungry so early in the morning!?
Also don’t you just love getting exquisite little care packages in the mail….you know what they say about small boxes! Well, ?I got this magnificent?necklace?and earrings in the mail?courtesy?of my buddy, Marsha from the beautiful and super stylish blog,?Splenderosa. Yes,the one who recently launched her online store featuring all?kinds?of?gorgeous?extremely affordable baubles! How stunning is this? We have never met yet she knew right away the colors that I love. Here it is…along?with some of the?things?found?on her beautiful site, click here to visit her!
Everything is 14kt goldfilled, the earrings and earrings are gem quality London blue topaz
factted briolettes, the pink is pink tourmanline and the luscious big drop is aquamarine!

Thank you Marsha…..LOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!!
And some other beautiful items in her gorgeous online shop…..

Just planted (still working on it, have to add more moss and wrap in cellophane and pretty ribbon) ?this beautiful orchid in one of my favorite silver planters that I carry in my online shop, ?to bring to someones house, part belated birthday and part thank you for having us over…..kinda want to keep it but I will be a nice person and give it to her:)
So everyone, that’s about it around here. Happy to wrap up a busy busy week, a good one, a productive one but alas a tiring one! I am looking forward to some down time and hopefully Mr. sun will decide to grace us with his presence! Hope whatever you are up to is lots of fun, enjoyable and mostly relaxing! I may be back over the weekend to pop in and say hello…….

Sunday showhouse…….and you’re invited!

Happy Sunday! Its Oscar day….love watching the Academy awards and am making a wonderful dinner for the occasion! I am in an “arugula state of mind” hence my menu of ?Spaghetti with arugula and lemon, a small flank steak marinated in arugula oil and a fresh baby arugula salad with a spritz of lemon and olive oil. I have made them all before and they are each AMAZING in a simple, fresh kind of way.?

?Normally we go out on Sunday night but there is no way I am missing a minute of the fun pre shows, watching all the glamorous and sometimes not so glamorous fashions make their grand entrance onto the famed red carpet. I am personally rooting for The Kings speech, such a wonderful film and I am always thrilled when I see a movie “of real substance” ?honored and recognized by being given an esteemed award like an Oscar, which I personally think its very deserving of. Just in case you too, are in for the day or just having a lazy morning…you might enjoy this quick run through of open house Sunday. Three entirely different locales…and three very different homes. All so beautiful, each with its own distinct personality. Do you have a favorite? Enjoy your day!

First stop is in Palm Beach,Florida and to this gorgeous Mediterranean..I am normally not a big fan of Mediterranean homes but when done right, they are truly magnificent. Case in point is this fabulous newly constructed home with?vistas and views out of this world! I appreciate the attention to detail shown throughout the house from the main hallways and their softly glazed gray walls to the stunning covered porch. The house also has so much natural sunlight…..everything just glows. I think this house does Addison Mizner proud!

Then we are off to Houston, Texas….. an area certainly no stranger to beautiful grand homes. This French inspired home is beautifully done in soft neutrals throughout and though formal it is still very much a family home. Love the lush green foliage and old world feeling that the home, though newer has maintained. It is so important when building a new home to pay close attention to the landscape, the setting and to do ones best to preserve the integrity of the land on which the home is built. I think they did an outstanding job here.

Last we go back to East Coast, to the famous quintessential New England vacation island, none other than wonderful Nantucket …here is a beautiful understated wood shingle home decorated by Victoria Hagan. Love the crisp, fresh decor…very cohesive, elegant without feeling stuffy and breathtaking at every turn. Definitely the ultimate beach house in my book!

Wow! Those are some beautiful homes indeed. Do you have a favorite? I would have to pick a few spaces from each home to make the ultimate home……each of them are so well done. Enjoy your Sunday, hope its relaxing!
