Bloggers buzz on holiday gifts part III!

Good morning! Well here I am again with my final installment of bloggers ideas for holiday gift giving. And talk about closing with a showstopper! So many amazingly gorgeous ideas here, I would be tickled pink to receive any one of them and if the recipients on my list are very very good…thy might benefit from this scrumptious list of goodies!? I am so grateful to all the many talented bloggers who joined me in this fun series to kick off the magical holiday season. I am happy to say my very first purchased gifts of the season are thanks to some of these wonderful ideas. Hope you have also found it helpful in your own gift giving. Ready for some more? Let’s go……

?
?Sharon from? My French Country Home says.…..

If I were to pick gifts from my store for two girlfriends , then I would most certainly want to offer them something very French, that would embellish their home, and make them feel comfortable and feminine.
And to a dear friend who lives in a part of the world where the temperatures easily soar skyhigh, I would offer her one of these hand embroidered nightdresses, pretty enough to be worn as a dress and always so cool and? comfortable.? These nightdresses are over 100 years old, yet are still snow white with their orginal tiny buttons down the front.

To my friend who loves to read, and who has just redecorated her bedroom in a pale palette of cream and verdigris, I would love to gift her these old French books.? Their decorative covers and spines would make her think of France each time she looks at them, and they are pretty enough to be on a bedside table, or even on a dressing table.

?Hi Tina, Thanks for including me ? I am thrilled to be part of your series.? xoxo, Phyllis

When buying presents for friends and family at a distance I like to send a little piece of Vermont and local glassblower Simon Pearce?s shop is my go-to gift resource. Whether you are shopping for someone whose style is traditional or contemporary, formal or informal, among the store?s hand-made glass, pottery and accessories there is truly something for everyone.

At the top of my list this year are the Thetford Globes which have the most radiant effect when illuminated and, to me, resemble how the ice on a pond freezes. Clustered on the table or the fireplace mantle they will add a glow to every room.

For local friends I like to give something unique and that can?t be found in our area shops. That endeavor takes me online and to Jayson Home where I can always find something for ?the person who has everything? and where I recently sourced my own birthday presents (they were presented to the family for wrapping prior to the big day.) For this year?s holiday gifts I will shopping their selection of horn vessels.

I love the organic nature of the forms, the color gradations, and that the pieces are multi-purpose. The cups, bowls and covered dishes can be used tabletop, as desk accessories or to display other treasures.

Many thanks, Tina for including me ? I am delighted to be sharing ideas with your readers ? with all best wishes to you and yours for a happy holiday season! Phyllis at Henhurst Interiors

?Hi Tina, Thanks for inviting me to contribute. What fun to do,?and so hard to limit to two. But after much deliberation, here are my two gift choices.

I would love to give someone any ceramics from this exqisite range. These items are all handmade in a studio in South Africa. The studio, called Mud Studio,?is situated in a rural area with high unemployment figures, so?provides fantastic working opportunities in the area as well as imparting new skills and knowledge to underpriveledged people. Mud?s elegant and earthy designs have won much international acclaim and can?now be found in designer stores across the globe, like the Conran Shop and Anthropologie.

?
I would love to give a friend a set of these bath or hand towels. They are a cotton and linen mix are made in South Africa in a mill outside the lovely?coastal town of Plettenberg Bay. The owner of the mill worked as an apprentice in the silk mills of Yorkshire in the UK as a teenager?and has had a lifelong passion for?textiles which is evident in the?outstanding quality of these products. They?re versatile; ready for use in the bathroom, alongside the pool or on the beach and what?s more they are environmentally friendly. I?have a set of these hand towels and they look as good now as the day I got them.

Hi, it’s Debby from Inspired Design! I’m guessing you could probably find all of your Christmas gifts right in Tina’s gorgeous shop. Let’s face in, the girl is amazing. Who is with me in insisting that she needs her own HGTV series? Love her! If you have already purchased one of everything from Tina and are looking for a few more ideas, then here are a couple more.
I love the Stella + Dot line so much that I decided to sell it. They have recently expanded their jewelry line to include scarves, wallets, phone cases and candles. This Christmas season you can give a long distance relative or friend an e-gift card?in any amount from $25.00 to $1000.00. Easy peasy. I’m also loving the deliciously scented candles. The candles make great a hostess gift or fun little stocking stuffer.

J. Crew?is a no-brainer in my opinion. The?peacoat is a timeless winter staple and I love how it’s been updated in vibrant hues. They have a variety of unique little stocking stuffers as well. I’m loving the anchor phone case and key chain.?
I recently visited Nantucket as part as my travel series and spied these Ugg Australia Tech Ear Muffs by in one of the shops. Brilliant. Perfect for the walkers who live in cold weather climates. Of course, the tech gloves are necessary too if one is to be changing the iPod music as well!

Thanks for having me, Tina! I always love visiting my favorite girl. Hope Everyone’s holiday season is off to a lovely start. Gifts are great but there is no greater gift than giving those you love, your time, your ear, a soft place to fall, a loving embrace or a laugh to share. There is no greater gift than your love year round. Share your heart, love big, don’t hold back. Happy Holidays!

For the Francophile
The Christmas gift I wish I could give a bunch of my girlfriends is a do-over on a Paris trip we took a few years ago. The next best thing? Give them something that reminds them of our perfect day at Versailles. This gorgeous new book, Versailles, from Valerie Bajou looks like next best thing to a real life exploration of the palace with lots of history and plenty of gorgeous photos. Add a macaron candle from Voluspa and some Marie Antoinette Tea from Debauve and Galais and it’s almost as good as being there!

For the Hostess
With so much to celebrate this time of year, I like to stockpile hostess gifts to make sure I’m never without. Mrs. Lilien’s Cocktail Swatchbook brings swanky fun to a party. And, when you add some vintage cocktail glasses (you can find a great selection on Etsy) and some personalized cocktail napkins, you have the perfect Christmas present for the friend who can turn any day into a party.?

For the Chef
The Canal House cookbooks are fun to read, simple to follow, and pretty, too. And they are so well-priced, you can afford to give your favorite chef the whole series.? Amazon’s got them, or if you are in Seattle, pop by Red Ticking for a stack, you’ll find French tableware from Sabre and linens from Libeco to pair with them.

For a Cozy Weekend at Home
I love being treated to a new pair of pajamas at Christmastime. This year, JCrew’s Liberty print PJs are definitely on my wishlist. But which to choose? The blue and white paisley, or pretty floral… Both, please!

I was so excited when Tina so graciously asked me to be a part of this gift giving series! I always leave inspired every time I stop in for a visit with Tina and her incredible blog and I am thrilled to share some of my ideas for Christmas gifts!?Because I own my own shop I am quite partial to the items we carry! Christmastime is a very fun time for us because we get to share our most special pieces with you?

First on my list for you to think about is our wonderful line of Sennod jewelry. Sennod is based out of New Orleans and we are grateful to be the exclusive boutique to sell her quality pieces..each vignette is handpicked and we order the chains as we see fit. The lengths vary as well as the silver or the gold. The vignettes are interchangeable so once you have the chain, you can continue to add to your collection of Sennod pieces! You cannot go wrong with a piece of Sennod to add to your collection. Our?customers are?definitely?repeat?customers?for this discriminating style. Each vintage piece definitely reflects the fact that it was found at an antiques shop! We love having the freedom to do something fun and “frivolous” along with selling antique furniture!
?

Another item we are loving for Christmas gifts and for the Holiday season are our many pieces of fabulous artwork! How can you go wrong by giving someone the gift of art? If you are worried about a large painting being too much then give them?hand painted?wine glasses or an “itty bitty” by Melissa Payne Baker! I promise you , it will be a gift that is long?remembered! I’m giving?my mother a tiny?landscape?painting that she picked out and I am so?excited?about it! Melissa was voted Atlanta’s number one artist for 2011 and 2012 ?as seen in Jezebel Magazine. Take a look at a few examples of what I am talking about and you will see why a piece of art of any?kind by Melissa would make anyone very happy this Christmas!

Thank you, Tina for including me in this fun blog post at such a special time of year!

Bloggers buzz on holiday gifts part II

Hi there! Hope you are doing well. Are you like me and getting really busy with the holiday frenzy?? Ready for another collection of fabulous holiday gift ideas from my super chic blogging friends? Well here’s another superb roundup of awesome gift ideas. I have to say I have gotten so many wonderful ideas. For the first time in years, I am feeling my stress 0′ meter go down…..not up!?

Let’s face it…the holidays are plenty stressful enough without the added pressure of gift giving pressure. I love all these ideas, so many unique ones, and something for everyone. Thank you ladies for your fabulous ideas! So let’s get started, ladies take it away………..

?Holiday Gift Ideas from French Essence?
Choosing gifts is such a pleasure? thinking of ideas, sourcing them and then
finding that perfect match. That is the best part? knowing that your gift is going
to please your special person. I love watching the un-wrapping? the guessing as
the parcel is prodded and poked? It?s all part of the art of giving?

I don?t believe that some are ?impossible? to buy for or that others ?have
everything?? the art of giving means not being defeated, sometimes thinking
outside of the box or oftentimes just keeping it simple.

When I think of a special gift, I think about what I would love to receive, an
indulgence that I might not buy for myself? something that would make me
smile and make me feel spoilt? a Cire Trudon candle is perfect. My preferred
scent is Odalisque? a blend of orange blossom, lemon and vanilla. I like a gift to
be long lasting and to evoke memories? this is a scent that does just that.
My other most loved gifts are books? nothing makes me happier? and I always
want to give as I would like to receive?

Here are our two favorite gift items this holiday season from our e-commerce site www.DianeJamesHome.com.

? Our mother raised us with a tradition of never arriving empty-handed to holiday parties and that?s one of the reasons why we added a range of beautiful botanically inspired gifts to our collection of faux florals on Diane James Home.? It was hard to pick two of our favorite holiday hostess gifts but given that we?ve just introduced our new Winter scent candle made by Seda France, we had to include it!? And why not pair it with a lovely set of French-milled soaps, presented in a festive red box ready for gift giving (or re-gifting, if need be.)? Both gifts are sure to please!

I love to give themed gifts. For some reason it helps me narrow down my choices. In the past I have chosen a monogrammed theme for gifts.

I try to get the beautiful towels that are on Neiman Marcus?s pink sale every year?.

You will get two sets of three pieces for $58, this is a real bargain. Plus, you can have them monogrammed.?

I have personally purchased these towels as gifts, and for my own personal use. Many of my friends have done the same!
If you like the option of a colored towel, and a colored monogram these are the towels for you. Only $12 for a bath towel.

?I usually purchase the white with a sand monogram for myself, but have purchased other colors for gifts.

Gift #2
The next theme gift I love to give is dinner related! I love to purchase nice plain white serving pieces from Crate and Barrel just go HERE!??.
I add this fun gift to the serving pieces. It is called Destination Dinners. You can go to their website by clicking on their name below the image?..
You can choose a dinner kit from any of the following destinations for $30:

I round it all out with monogrammed napkins from Pottery barn?..

These are just a couple of themed gifts you can give. I bet if you think about it from this point of view you will come up with your own ideas!!?

Happy Gift Giving,

Happy Holiday shopping, everyone!

Pick #1:
I have three small children and I’m always trying to make our home feels like a home for every and each member of our family. I like my kids to feel welcomed in every room, but I like to dedicate certain places exclusively to them. I think it’s really important for our kids to have a place where they feel completely free to create, play and learn.
When I saw these children plates I immediately thought how neat would be to have them hung in a playroom. These alphabet plates are adorable and I’m sure any kid would enjoy seeing them!

Aren’t they cute? The set for a mug and plate costs $26.00 and you can find them here.

?

Pick #2:

Maybe this Christmas we should do more than opening our wallets, maybe instead, we should open our eyes to see what the person next to one need.
We all get incredibly busy at this time of the year, we all try to send cards to all of friends and family and we’re running from store to store with a huge list on hands, but is it all we can do? Is it all we can give? Perhaps, we can do more, perhaps we should do better.
What about actually being the gift for someone this Christmas? Look around, you can help in so many ways and that’s a gift! Visit a neighbor you know could use of some help with the kids, or an elder person who needs help. You can do simple things, such as wrapping gifts or cooking some meals for the Holidays.
Offer help, be there and put a smile on someone’s face.
The best gifts in life are usually priceless and comes from the heart, instead of a shelf.

?

Happy Holidays!

I am always on the look out, year round, for special items that would make a fabulous gift, so I was thrilled that Tina invited me to share a couple of picks with her lovely readers. I love to give things that will be savored, enjoyed and used. Personalized items are always a favorite of mine, but that doesn’t necessarily mean a monogram. My first holiday gift pick is the exquisite new book, Flowers, by Carolyne Roehm.?
The book was a true labor of love, as Carolyne created all of the floral arrangements and photographed them herself. If you know someone how lives for their garden, a gorgeous flower arrangement or just loves a fabulous coffee table book…this is the one for the season! The most cost effective way to purchase her book is via amazon.com, but you can also visit her website, www.carolyneroehm.com to have her personalize the book for your recipient.

My next gift pick is something I have and use on a daily basis. The Russell + Hazel Tassel Key Chain is just a fun thing to give and receive. The personalization comes in choosing the perfect color. Mine is white and is easy to find in the bottom of my handbags. ?Available at?zhush.com

Whatever you choose to give, remember the presentation is part of the gift!

Holiday Gift Ideas from French Essence?

In my online boutique, Linen Haus (www.linenhaus.com), I carry products that are hand selected by me in European Antiques Markets.? Because I love the chance to give a one of a kind gift during the holidays, I picked two things from Linen Haus that I think would make an ideal gift.?

1.????????In my shop I have a very special find from the European Markets:? Six Vintage Villeroy and Boch dessert/appetizer plates, with French calligraphy and beautiful illustrations of luscious fruits.? What a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays with these special accent plates!?
2.???????Sometimes giving wine is just the right gift, but I like to make it special by attaching something festive to it.? One of these?German Christmas ornaments?add a special vintage flair, to evoke memories of old-fashioned European holidays gone by!? I?d pair it with a bit of holly or a small fir bough and a big silver ribbon for a festive touch.?

I?m headed to Europe shortly to visit the markets, so I?ll be adding more inventory to my shop in the next few weeks.? Please stop by Linen Haus (www.linenhaus.com) when you get a chance to take a look!

If we’re being practical, we’d love to give and receive the gorgeous The Houses of Veranda. It’s such a stylish and beautiful addition to any coffee table and, even better, provides hours of home-gazing fun.?
If we’re being a shade less practical, we think everyone should have a fantasy hen house and custom herb and vegetable garden in his or her backyard. We can picture ourselves, tea in hand, strolling in the fresh air to retrieve our fresh eggs from an impeccable — and sweet smelling, of course — hen house. Neiman Marcus’ latest fantasy gift, the Heritage Hen Mini Farm?provides that delusion of grandeur, complete with art and a chandelier for the discerning hen. Now, if only it came with a personal farmhand to keep it fresh and clean…

Thanks so much, Tina, for inviting us to share our Christmas gift ideas! Being featured on one of our favorite sites amongst all your stunning posts is such a treat!

I love giving gifts to my girlfriends, we all know what would delight and charm each other, which makes it so much harder to choose a gift.

This year I will choose a leather wrap bracelet from my shop,?splenderosa.com.
The reason is because they are lovely and so fashionable. ?We have 4-5 colors so they wouldn’t all get the same one (that would be tragic).

Picture
Picture
These bracelets come in “Hermes” Orange, White, Turquoise & Black
$65 is a super buy for these leather/chain pieces.
And, we have many many different styles available as well.

The 2nd gift would be something which lasts forever. ?I love giving items which are eternal, so that when someone sees the piece it will remind them of the giver. ?I learned this from my grandmother, the infamous Mom-Mom. ?This year the hostess gift we will be taking along with us will be the “Vinturi Wine Aerator.” ? Pour directly from the bottle into a glass,
so simple, so easy. ?Found at Williams-Sonoma for around $40.
Vinturi Wine Aerator
I would never dream of arriving at someone’s home during the holiday period without a small gift. ?I love doing it, and I believe it makes for happy moments of surprises with family & friends. ?Oh yes, I over-gift. ?I do it because I love doing it. ?The Christmas season is when we can all be a child again, do joyful things for everyone and enjoy the moments of giving and loving. ? One year, just a couple of days after Thanksgiving weekend, ?we took poinsettia to everyone on our list, ? They immediately put the homes in a holiday mood. ?My kids absolutely hated it though…they were the delivery people!!

Thank you, Tina, for always coming up with something fun for all your readers.

Cheers & Happy Holidays !!!

Giving a gift that is meant to work in someone else’s home can be tricky.? We all remember those creative wedding gifts that we didn’t register for, right?? Well, the worst thing is to give someone something that isn’t quite their taste, that they store in a closet, and feel like they have to bring out whenever you visit! This being said, though, I love giving gifts for the home more than any other kind of gift because, well, I love homes and design.? But I’m always very careful – I wouldn’t give someone a rug or a chandelier, for example.? But I would (and do) give small decorative or luxury items that I know just about anyone would like, and would work in any decor.? For example, one of my favorite gifts is this gorgeous decanter by Global Views.? It is functional and just simply beautiful:

My other favorite gift is this set of unique candle holders.? I love that they can sit on a table, be brought outside in warm weather, or even hung from chains like I did in my own kitchen.??
They are classic, versatile, and just beautiful:
Thank you so very much, Tina, not only for writing the best blog ever, but for letting me participate in this fabulous post!
?Barbara from Hampton Hostess says…..

The holiday season is always so exciting-invitations for tree trimming and cocktail parties start filling my mailbox the day after Thanksgiving! ?These holiday fetes are always fun and festive, with trees dressed to the nines, decadent cocktails, delicious little nibbles and the wonderful company of friends. ?I like to bring something that celebrates the season and contributes to the holiday decor. ?A whimsical?New York taxi ornament from Bergdorf Goodman is the perfect gift for my Gotham friends; an iconic symbol of our city and a celebration of the season!

I’m also partial to the beautiful selection of Fair Trade ornaments at Crate and Barrel. I can’t resist the Alpaca Woodland Creature ornaments made by women crafters in rural Peru. They are adorable and do good-you can’t go wrong!

Best friends are there for you all year long-they definitely deserve something special around the holidays. My favorite gift for my BFF’s is from the British fragrance house Jo Malone; a jar of their decadent?English Pear and Freesia body creme is the ultimate indulgence, ?pefect for pampering!

Truth be told I LOVE the holidays. I have finished by shopping, am half way done with my wrapping and my Christmas cards arrived last week. (I own it…I have issues.) So I was delighted when one of my best blogging pals Tina asked me to participate in her holiday gift guide. But I could not possibly limit it to just two!

Here are a few of my favorite gifts to give to friends and hosts:

I always love to give something homemade. This recipe for BOOZY OLIVES?is always a hit and packaged in a stylish container you can find HERE.

It is always nice to put something under the tree for the host too and a needlepoint FLASK is perfect!?

?And for the hostess (I like to bring something other than wine or flowers) a festive holiday candle and some custom matches. My favorite holiday scent this year is from THYMES.

And monogram MATCHES
I wrap my gifts in a different theme every year. Here are a few ideas to get you inspired.

Happy holidays to all and thank you Tina for inviting me to join in the fun!?

Neiman Marcus’ latest fantasy gift, the Heritage Hen Mini Farm provides that delusion of grandeur, complete with art and a chandelier for the discerning hen.

This year I will choose a leather wrap bracelet from my shop, splenderosa.com.
The reason is because they are lovely and so fashionable.  We have 4-5 colors so they wouldn’t all get the same one (that would be tragic).

These bracelets come in “Hermes” Orange, White, Turquoise & Black
$65 is a super buy for these leather/chain pieces.
And, we have many many different styles available as well.

The 2nd gift would be something which lasts forever.  I love giving items which are eternal, so that when someone sees the piece it will remind them of the giver.  I learned this from my grandmother, the infamous Mom-Mom.  This year the hostess gift we will be taking along with us will be the “Vinturi Wine Aerator.”   Pour directly from the bottle into a glass,
so simple, so easy.  Found at Williams-Sonoma for around $40.

I would never dream of arriving at someone’s home during the holiday period without a small gift.  I love doing it, and I believe it makes for happy moments of surprises with family & friends.  Oh yes, I over-gift.  I do it because I love doing it.  The Christmas season is when we can all be a child again, do joyful things for everyone and enjoy the moments of giving and loving.   One year, just a couple of days after Thanksgiving weekend,  we took poinsettia to everyone on our list,   They immediately put the homes in a holiday mood.  My kids absolutely hated it though…they were the delivery people!!

Thank you, Tina, for always coming up with something fun for all your readers.

Cheers & Happy Holidays !!!

Giving a gift that is meant to work in someone else’s home can be tricky.  We all remember those creative wedding gifts that we didn’t register for, right?  Well, the worst thing is to give someone something that isn’t quite their taste, that they store in a closet, and feel like they have to bring out whenever you visit! This being said, though, I love giving gifts for the home more than any other kind of gift because, well, I love homes and design.  But I’m always very careful – I wouldn’t give someone a rug or a chandelier, for example.  But I would (and do) give small decorative or luxury items that I know just about anyone would like, and would work in any decor.  For example, one of my favorite gifts is this gorgeous decanter by Global Views.  It is functional and just simply beautiful:

My other favorite gift is this set of unique candle holders.  I love that they can sit on a table, be brought outside in warm weather, or even hung from chains like I did in my own kitchen.
They are classic, versatile, and just beautiful:
Thank you so very much, Tina, not only for writing the best blog ever, but for letting me participate in this fabulous post!

The holiday season is always so exciting-invitations for tree trimming and cocktail parties start filling my mailbox the day after Thanksgiving!  These holiday fetes are always fun and festive, with trees dressed to the nines, decadent cocktails, delicious little nibbles and the wonderful company of friends.  I like to bring something that celebrates the season and contributes to the holiday decor.  A whimsical New York taxi ornament from Bergdorf Goodman is the perfect gift for my Gotham friends; an iconic symbol of our city and a celebration of the season!

My favorite gift for my BFF’s is from the British fragrance house Jo Malone; a jar of their decadent English Pear and Freesia body creme is the ultimate indulgence,  pefect for pampering!

This recipe for BOOZY OLIVES is always a hit and packaged in a stylish container you can find HERE.

It is always nice to put something under the tree for the host too and a needlepoint FLASK is perfect!

And for the hostess (I like to bring something other than wine or flowers) a festive holiday candle and some custom matches. My favorite holiday scent this year is from THYMES.

And monogram MATCHES
I wrap my gifts in a different theme every year. Here are a few ideas to get you inspired.

Happy holidays to all and thank you Tina for inviting me to join in the fun!
