A few recent house updates…..

Hi there and happy Tuesday evening….taking a much needed coffee break, just came in from being out.? We are in a deep freeze. It is almost too cold to go out. It takes every ounce of energy and perseverance for me to venture outside….yes, it’s that cold. Hoping for an early thaw….please!!

I realize I haven’t done any updates on my home in quite a while. But don’t let the quiet fool you:) I have been quite busy behind the scenes. The single most exciting thing of all is my bedroom. I am beyond excited over how its coming out. I want to give the full reveal when it is totally done but did include a few “sneak peeks”. Also small things here and there going, on and thought it warranted a small house updates post.

Other big news (I say it tongue in check) is that I joined Instagram! Woo hoo. Alert the presses. Now my friends can finally stop? making fun of me. True, I am still rather clueless as to how it all works or what the point even is but I am trying hard to think outside the box in 2014 and vowed to try a bunch of new things this year. So if you have any remote desire whatsoever to see whats on my Instagram, you can find me under you guessed it…..theenchantedhome (all one word) . I am not going to promise that it’s going to be that exciting as I have NO idea what I am doing, but I do promise to do my best:) I am staring sloooooow so bear with me please.

These were all taken with my iPhone so pardon the quality on a few…..camera was out of commission

So come on in……..

A few snippets of my bedroom. It is shaping up and shaping up fast but I want to wait until every last little item is in place. So far however my vision of what? a bedroom should be has come to life. I absolutely love it….

Loving my new slipper chairs….and remember this fabric? Well turns out it was the perfect choice!

I am not done with this arrangement but it’s getting there!
And of course my most favorite lamps in the world!!
And the trim I hemmed and hawed over….well it finally got here!

FINALLY getting this small powder room off of the library done! I got the floors finished, the toilet is in, this is an old chest we are using for the vanity, just waiting for the new countertop. I found these wonderful sconces and brackets at a local consignment shop and using this wallpaper that I have had set aside since before we even moved in! I still love it so its been ordered!!

?Love the floor! It’s a mess though, don’t ask what a painting is doing in the floor there, it’s become a bit of a storage closet:)

?The chest that will be the vanity, its not my all time fave but we own it so we are using it. Just waiting on the countertop (matches the floor)

?Do love these black tole chinoiserie sconces I found and will be using in here……
?The gorgeous wallpaper, still love it after all these years! Put your hands over that green countertop and you will get the idea:)

?I think the floor is really pretty…its honey onyx, that I had cut into 2 x12’s and did as a chevron/herringbone pattern

I was tired of seeing the red poinsettias tress on my island. It was perfect for Christmas and at the rate I was going, I guess I could have left them up for Valentines Day since they are red:) But I wanted to feel some spring so added my pink cherry blossoms to these new blue and whites and I must say I love it. It feels so wonderful walking into my kitchen and totally belies the fact that there is ice crusted snow everywhere outside…oh well once can dream:)

And speaking of the kitchen, I love the way the bright yellows of lemons and green of limes looks in blue and white…its uplifting given the dark gloomy days of winter we are having!

And since we are in my kitchen, how gorgeous is this copper pot my sister gave me for my birthday? She does know me well……

Bought this beautiful pair of black tole lanterns to put in two small hallway vestibules upstairs. I like the simplicity and shape.

And added this belljar to a small vestibule between my bedroom and closet. You? know I looooove my belljars:)

I have been finding the prettiest antique decanters lately. Look at these, they are antique Baccarat with the sterling liquor? name plates…gorgeous!

We have been starting to look at flooring for our basement. I am amazed at what they are doing with tiles! We want a maintenance free tile that looks like wood. I am leaning towards those ashy colored light to med. woods..they are so soothing and pretty. Amazing!

?It is so hard to believe these are porcelain tiles and not wood!

Now that the holidays are over, I am going back to the drawing board on a number of projects, with the bedroom and my dining room being two of the most important. Still tweaking but getting closer every day to the final background color of the gorgeous chinoiserie which I know will transform the space…..

And have had these really large chunky white ginger jars for a while (was going to carry them) but they are so darn big and heavy. So instead of sitting in storage I took them out and put them on the pale green French console in the upstairs hallway and I love the way they look, so fresh and crisp! I am going to add something to the center, just not sure what. I will probably refer back to my post from yesterday on accentuating with accessories!

Put in this gorgeous new lantern finally in our back stair hall…really pretty piece!

I think I have finally figured out the secret to keeping orchids alive well and super long lasting. Cool, cool cool rooms. This one is in one of the coolest areas of our house and this thing looks as beautiful as it did the day I got it over two months ago….still going strong! Very little water also (maybe once every 10 days)

Yes my Christmas tree FINALLY got taken down 3 days ago, my big soldiers are next in line:)

Another one still going strong that I now moved to a cooler spot

Just starting to get my orders in for the Annabell Ingall totes so if you are one of the ones waiting…..things are starting to ship out this week. Every time I see a new color/variation, I want one (it’s a bit of a problem).? I mean how many bags does a girl need? Nevermind, you don’t have to answer that:)? They are all so gorgeous….

?Sky and Cherry totes (med and large)

???????????????????????????????????? This is a great neutral, new color String in the new style, Coco

Accentuating with accesorries…..and a grand giveaway!

Hello there! Hope you had a great weekend, ours was relaxing and incredibly cold. Let’s face it, accessories are practically one the most important ingredients of a room. Sure you need sofas and chairs, but the accessories are what really gives a room it’s personality, that vibe. I love accessories (obviously) since my online shop is practically all accessories! It’s a surefire way to change up a look, whether you are adding, layering or taking away….its a fast, “instant gratification kind of a way” to transform a space. If you imagine a room without any accessories, it would look rather bleak and incredibly boring. Yes, we definitely need them!

I love “playing” and often do in my own home. Constantly tweaking, adding a few books, maybe a pair of Staffordhsire dogs, it is a constant (but fun) game of experimenting until you get it just right. I hope if you are stumped with how to style a spot in your own home, you might just get some great ideas and inspiration here! I think there’s something for everyone. And chances are you don’t? need to run out and buy anything, it’s probably around and you just don’t know it yet! I get especially excited when I can “reinvent” something I already have in my home (often).

So today a look at some beautiful ways to display accessories and then at the end a wonderful giveaway opportunity courtesy of the ever so lovely Bonnie Neiman of Bonnie Neiman Antiques who has an online shop just dripping with the most beautiful antiques, and best part is her prices are fabulous AND she ships all over the country! Her giveaway is so beautiful, I just know you are going to love it! Ready to begin…..

Natalie Merrilyn shows that bathroom styling can be really fabulous!

Love the idea of a large silver bowl filled with shells and coral….very very pretty and fresh. Belle Maison

Love the idea of adding a small vignette on a kitchen counter top…..makes it so charming! Add a big bowl with some fruits or veges, a small lamp, a few books….love it! SFgate

So….what do you think? Do you have a “formula” for how you like to use accessories or are you like me and always experimenting? Clearly there is no wrong or right way to do it….it’s all about experimenting and this post has me in the mood to do some tweaking of my own today!

?If there is one thing to take away from the post, it’s that you won’t know until you try….so have fun don’t be afraid to switch it up! Having just, as of yesterday taken down the last of our Christmas decor, it’s feeling a little sparse, think its time to play 🙂

The Blue and White Love contest is on!

Hi there. I am SO excited to officially start this contest I can barely contain myself! Before we begin, PLEASE be sure you are sitting down, have a clear state of mind, maybe an extra cup of coffee on hand because you are really going to need it to think hard when you get ready to embrace all this beauty!!? The response to this contest was incredibly overwhelming…far exceeded my expectations and blew me away with the sheer beauty and taste level of my readers….so many of these could be front page and center on any major design magazine! I got ideas I didn’t even know existed:)

I got so many entries in fact that I ended up having to split them into two posts. It was just too much for one and I don’t want to be responsible for a sudden epidemic of emergency rooms around the country dealing with a mysterious “blue and white-itis” disease that has plagued legions of devotees:) And because there were so many amazing pictures, I decided to have two winners!

This will run today and part of tomorrow and then tomorrow afternoon I will post round 2 also to run for one and a half days. Voting will continue for both rounds until Friday morning where I will announce the two winners, one from each round as well as announce the next contest and a great giveaway!

Truth is every one of these is a winner. I loved seeing every person’s interpretation of “blue and white love” and I wish I had a prize for each!! I also wish there was room to share some of the many stories that accompanied so many of these pictures. From beautiful artwork, generations old blue and white collections, precious kids and pets adorning blue and white to homes and rooms warranting a magazine spread…there are nearly 200 to enjoy!? But please know I read every single one of the stories? and so enjoyed hearing what was behind your pictures.? So ready to get started? Buckle your seat belt……..here we go!

Which picture best says “blue and white love”?

The Blue and White Love contest is on!

Hi there. I am SO excited to officially start this contest I can barely contain myself! Before we begin, PLEASE be sure you are sitting down, have a clear state of mind, maybe an extra cup of coffee on hand because you are really going to need it to think hard when you get ready to embrace all this beauty!!  The response to this contest was incredibly overwhelming…far exceeded my expectations and blew me away with the sheer beauty and taste level of my readers….so many of these could be front page and center on any major design magazine! I got ideas I didn’t even know existed:)

Random weekend musings…..

Hello there, I am soooooo happy its the  weekend. I seriously need some major downtime to do absolutely nothing. Except for dinner plans tonight, a casual BBQ tomorrow and one game, we have little on the agenda and that is music to my ears. Last week was an exceptionally crazy week, that kind of week where every single minute is accounted for, I barely had quality time with my beloved computer and blogland and I missed it so much, it’s my “happy place”. So finally a chance to sit down for a bit and catch up on all I have missed and share my weekly musings with you. Here we go……

HOUSE. One exciting thing is that I am getting closer to pulling the trigger on my chinoiserie paper for the dining room. Woo hoo! Once the chairs came in it made me want to complete that room once and for all. So I stumbled across a picture a few weeks ago that was an aha moment for me, the colors were spot on and it has since become my reference for what I want the paper to look like (though a slightly different design). Take a look and also a window treatment I am considering that I think will look fabulous in that room. I am getting exited at the thought of finishing this room!

And here is my room in its current state with its boring whitish walls…

ORCHIDS. I love orchids. Honestly to me they are actually a bargain flower. When you consider how long they last…..they are so worth the money.  Lets say you spend $75.00 on an orchid, a dozen roses or a large bunch of beautiful flowers could easily cost that and they last, what a week if you are lucky….the orchid on the other hand, at least a few months!

Its like the gift that keeps on giving. So every few months I pick up a few here and there. I have one place that carries sensational orchids which are pricey but worth it but truth be told I have picked up orchids at places like Whole Foods and Home Depot for next to nothing and had them last a long time. So picked up 8 new plants and added some to a very large tole planter from Italy that I have had a while…..

GORGEOUS TOLE. One of my most favorite things I carry in my online shop is the new custom line of tole. It is truly exceptional in every way. I have placed a few orders lately and one was my very own! I ordered the blue and white chinoiserie lamps I have been wanting for oh about eight years! I looooove them and am now working on getting the shades. Maybe this will finally prompt me to finish my room once and for all!!

On top of that I took a little trip and got to visit the factory, I am working on a few custom lighting orders right now so it was worth the trip. This is a source that the top designers in the world use and their products grace the most sensational homes.  I was in tole nirvana, seriously the beauty stopped me dead in my tracks. I wanted one of everything!!! They work with Benjamin Moore colors and every single pieces is customized to your specifications. The work is out of this world! Click here to see my gallery online of some of the many pieces they do. Check out the beauty……

A lantern for a current customer, primed and waiting the customization

Love this oversized tray table…isn’t it stunning!

Custom dog lamp….you provide a pic of your pooch and a lamp in his/her honor is made up!

Part of the customization process..we are finalizing colors for this gorgeous lantern!

And this one is in the works too…..love it!
Just ordered this for a customer, isn’t she a beauty!

LOVE these sconces too…..need to have them!
Seriously…just being there gave me serious heart palpitations!

Mr. Charles Faudree has used this particular one a lot…love it!
How wonderful is this amazing mirror? Love the design and fabulous color!

Brainstorming about where I could personally use both of these beauties!!
Ready to see my lamps? Still need the shades but here they are…….

BOOKS. Got a few books and trying to get back into my old habit of reading on a regular basis. One I just finished that was powerful and quite incredible was Brain on fire I could literally not put it down and read it in 2 days! . A true story of one women’s  terrifying account of a mysterious brain disease that takes her over, it is an incredible story! Then the two that follows are on my nightstand ready to be tackled…….

Awesome read!

NEW BEAUTY PRODUCTS!  Always enjoy sharing new products with you that I am loving. This was actually received as a gift which makes it even sweeter! But I would absolutely buy on my own (and will). This is a product I really wanted to try and then I was lucky enough to win it over at my buddy, Stacy’s blog South Shore Decorating (on a side note great blog that has an amazing plethora of interior design pictures)

Now, its only been 2 days but so far so good! It does in fact reduce the puffiness under the eyes. It contains the wonder peptite, SNAP,-8 considered to be the safe gentler alternative to Botox and red and green seaweed amongst other key ingredients. So far I am indeed a believer! Thanks Stacy!

A BEAUTIFUL PARTY. “Met” a new blogger, Ashely who had emailed me about my blog,  who has a gorgeous blog, Sparkle Sense  where  she shared this gorgeous bridal luncheon which was thrown in her honor (lucky lady)  that had to be shared. I love all the details, so romantic and beautiful…looks magazine spread worthy, don’t you think? To visit the wonderful blog of Sparkle Sense, click here to see more! Stop over and leave her a comment to welcome her to blogland…..it will make her day!

And check her amazingly beautiful wedding photos…..hellooooooo Bride magazine are you paying attention!! Ashley….I love your style!

 LOVE the dress:)
 Stunning colors…stunning bride!
 What a shot!
You made such an exquisite bride (and your groom isn’t too bad either:)

SHOP NEWS. One exciting thing I just got in was the stunning line of preserved boxwood I had found not long ago. I am always on the prowl for great new finds and one of the things I was looking for was a high quality preserved boxwood line. Well I found it! I have since placed an order and got in some of the wonderful pieces. They will be added to my online shop this week but if you are interested in placing an order, several pieces are in stock, so feel free to contact me. Take a look…..

A beautiful double ball topiary, starts at 16″ and goes all the way up to a towering 51″!

These are the half balls, also great for smaller planters
A classic ball and cone topiary, so elegant!
The pretty 10″ half ball is perfect for planters…
The 10″ boxwood balls in my stone anduze planters…for outside

The 10″ ball shown with the 6″ ball

The bags…without a doubt one of the hottest items I have sold since I have been “in biz”! They went like hotcakes……so I got my third order in and ordered extra of the more popular colors. I had many email me about extra bags and I promised that as soon as all orders shipped I would see what was left so for anyone who is interested, here is what I have. Still being offered at the promotional price of $375 for the large and $355 for the med. As of next week, they will be a permanent fixture on my online shop! Email me with any inquires.

 2 black left in large

 1 blue left in med.

 1 military left in large

2 cream left in large

So that’s what is left for now. I am taking orders for the nutmeg and a few other colors coming in soon. Check them out…..

There are also in addition the above a few new colors coming out, eggplant, a deep green, a dark chocolate and a few of the staples that I have already sold. So stay tuned, and of course email me with any inquires at theenchantedhome@gmail.com

Finally this is one of my all time favorite songs of all time, and this particular performance is sooo amazing, guaranteed to give you chills, tears and maybe both:)  That Charice is one amazing powerhouse! I want to see her in concert……

And one final thought to anyone with a daughter, you might find this funny…

hahahahaha, thought you would get a chuckle out of this one!

So that about wraps up what is new and exciting over here. Thanks so  much for stopping in and wishing you a fabulous Saturday and a wonderful weekend.
