Ultimate kitchens round 3!

Hi there. It feels great to be getting back to the drawing board and doing what I love most…..blogging! I am working on various design posts and getting back to what I love to talk about. Haven’t done a kitchen post in such a long time…think its overdue! For anyone who loves design, kitchens are always at the forefront of any discussion or photo collection. The heart of the home, the one room where everyone loves to hang out in, I believe a kitchen is one room that deserves the best you can afford.

Beautiful cabinetry, great appliances, abundant storage, beautiful finishes are all wonderful but above all else it must be a functional and practical space. There are so many styles of kitchens to love. While I love a white kitchen for its clean crisp aesthetic, a European feeling kitchen with a variety of finishes is my personal favorite, hence why I created the kitchen that we did for our own home. Trends come and go but there are some that are absolutely classic and timeless.

Marble being one such thing. I wouldn’t even consider any other countertop and would give up clothes buying for a year if I had to. I love the look of marble countertops. Some argue its not practical. Go tell that to the Italians and French bakers who have it all over their restaurant countertops and floors for years or the maintenance people who oversee The famed Spanish Steps in Rome..they have been there hundreds of years and still going strong!! It is the beautiful patina that comes with time and use that makes it so uniquely perfect in my humble opinion.

As kitchens have never been given so much attention, lighting has become an equally front row and center detail. So many possibilities! I like the function of small high hats (still the best working light) coupled with interesting lighting like a chandelier or belljars. So enough of my gabbing, take a look at this newest collection of kitchens that have caught my eye for one reason or another. How about you? What’s your style? What are your must haves in a kitchen? Do tell!

This is a beautiful space. The bold blue and white paper adds so much to this beautiful kitchen!

Bleached oak never looked so fabulous….love it with the Belgian bluestone in black, gorgeous!

My own kitchen…….have since replaced the barstools. I really love my kitchen today as much as I did when I created it almost two years ago (can’t believe its been that long)!

There is certainly something very appealing about an all white kitchen and luscious white marble counterops, Homebunch

Love the pale blue with white marble counter tops in this beautiful kitchen, the sconces are an unexpected touch too, Karr Bick Kitchen & Bath. Kitchen designer, Jenny Rausch.

Ellisa Cullman created this spectacular kitchen, very dramatic…love the “to the ceiling” cabinets

This beautiful kitchen has a similar feeling to my own, love the warmth the woods adds to the painted cabinets and of course the beams….Bill Litchfield

Mark Molthan created a beautiful and very inviting, cozy kitchen by combining a rich dark wood island with painted cabinets….gorgeous!

Great French inspired kitchen, love the mix of materials, big stone hood….fabulous and timeless! Homebunch

Thomas Pheasant did an amazing job creating a warm, inviting space out of this large family kitchen….love the added accents of blue and white, a rug, and the open shelving

When designing our own kitchen, this picture was one of my earlier/first inspirations…still love it! Traditional Home

Let’s face it….a “statement range” can easily make a pretty kitchen into an extraordinary kitchen!

Another very classic look…..the timeless appeal of black and white checkerboard floors, love this look!

There is something so warm and inviting about this white kitchen, think it could be the pretty pleated shade fixtures, like that look a lot!

Tall, long lean cabinets are a fantastic way to emphasize height in a kitchen with high ceilings
This look I LOVE, a copper pot collection, a warm stone oversized hood, baskets, a pretty chandelier, some elements of black..stunning!
Fell in love with this at first sight…these are sooo my colors and love that floor! House Beautiful
Talk about drama! Wow…this is one dramatic and beautiful kitchen, love the way the blue and white pops against the black!? Frederike Kemp Biggs
Another successful example of how colored cabinets can work so well…I think the key is making sure there is a “chalky” effect to the color, or a milky version of the color choice…..beautiful!
Yes, yes and yes! Just amazing….love a collection of beautiful copper pots and those high ceilings! Chateau Montgeoffroy
Always have liked gingham and think this oversized gingham accented kitchen is mighty charming! Emily Ann Designs

Gorgeous classic space, Elle Decor

Giselle and Tom Brady’s warm and expansive kitchen is as beautiful as it is functional

Interesting eclectic space with the stone wall and open shelving, Veranda

This is so warm and inviting, love the wing chair seating and gingham window treatment, Veranda

My kitchen again….love my belljars and reclaimed limestone floors, to me very classic accents

A few? of my personal favorite elements for a kitchen, start with flooring! Don’t skimp, it is truly the foundation for this space in more ways than one…..

Reclaimed limestone….as classic as it gets

LOVE this reclaimed Austrian terra cotta with the wood….fabulous!

And if you are going to use wood, how about this Versaille Parquet in a weathered finish?

COUNTERTOPS

White marble for a countetop goes literally with every style and every color kitchen, timeless!!

LIGHTING

Great lighting, for a more traditional look I love the classic feel of belljars (these are my online shop)

If you want something more transitional feeling, these round globe lights from Restoration Hardware are great looking!

And of course a crystal chandelier is a fabulous way to add beautiful lighting to a kitchen

Love the warmth and coziness that adding shades to island lighting offers

Hello…. I am back!

Hello! I am back got back late last night and our holidays were soooo wonderful. I have to say there really is something special about spending Thanksgiving at the beach. There is less pressure to have out all your best china, linens and silver, its more relaxed, everyone seems happy, the vibe and tone is just amazing. Being at my sisters beach house with 16 others was such fun and so festive and enjoyable.

We ate ourselves silly (part of the fun) and overall just had a really fabulous time being together, reminiscing,? laughing and enjoying good old fashioned quality family time. I don’t care where we go with technology and we all know its moving scarily fast….there is NOTHING that will ever substitute the simple pleasures of spending quality time with your family. Hope your Thanksgiving was wonderful! Hard to believe tomorrow is December 1st….oh boy let the games begin!

A few very candid snapshots as taken with my iPhone…….

A few reminders……

1. Today is the final day to be in the running for? the pair of the magnificent Seda France pillows!! I will be announcing a winner tomorrow. Click here to add your name to the hat!

2. And if you took some pictures over the Thanksgiving holiday….send them in for my “Hooray for the holidays” photo contest. I have gotten so many amazing pictures so far….last day to send them in is Dec. 4th. All details below-

Click here to see the entire European kitchen line.

They make the prettiest displays for serving foods….

And the gorgeous new scalloped ultra thick (3″) cutting boards and trivets have arrived!! Spectacular does not begin to describe how pretty these are!

4. For all those dough bowl lovers I got in 6? magnificent dough bowls. I was going to add these to my big mega post of my final steals and deals either Wed. or Thursday but figured I might as well announce them now. They are spectacular! Email me at theenchantedhome@gmail.com with any questions, to see pictures? or to purchase one. They don’t last long:)

I am loving this “Small Business Saturday” pitch. I plan on supporting a few local businesses myself today and think it’s wonderful to look in our own backyards to see all the small unique mom and pop operations that we can support, do you agree? I wish I had known about this sooner, I would have done a whole post on it!

So that’s a mini wrap up. I am gearing up for a very very busy few weeks ahead. I know that it is officially the “countdown period” for Christmas and I am going to spend a good part of my day today making my master list of all that needs to get done and try to come up with a schedule that will minimize the stress of it all and capitalize on the fun and festivity, which is what its all supposed to be about, right? Any tips, please by all means pass them on!

Enjoy your weekend and be sure to check back to find out who the lucky winner is tomorrow!! Thanks for stopping in:)

Mothers Day- Enchanted Home Style!

Good morning. Hard to believe we are in May. I feel like before we know it we are going to be reminiscing about summer, how fast it flew by, and talking about Labor Day…..yikes!   I wish we could press a pause button. In any case, next holiday as we all know is Mothers Day! I always try to come up with something different for my mother other than the predictable outfit, or needlepoint pillows (one of her many loves).

To me, fresh flowers are the best and ultimate gift. But if you are like me, you don’t stop there. I have gotten emails from happy customers (phew) that wanted my suggestions on Mothers Day gifts. A few even suggested this post, so here it goes. I am sharing my top picks from my little shop for Mothers Day. I am also offering guaranteed Mothers Day delivery on all orders placed by May 6th. Exceptions are the planter/statuary and canvas art as these are made to order and take 4 weeks. So, here’s my choices……..for that special mother or if you are like me, a little something for yourself!

From my very popular silver line…..absolutely love this wine cooler/planter. I am in fact giving this very container to my mother in law filled with a beautiful orchid. When she eventually removes it, it can serve as a very elegant wine cooler/champagne bucket. Reminds me of something you would see being used in a grand hotel in Paris…….love it.

Every lady could use a beautiful and elegant etched silver vanity tray either for a makeup table or on a bathroom vanity to place her perfumes.
Another beautiful and popular little tray, this is ideal for a nightstand, to place your rings, watch, phone, lipstick, etc…
This beautiful etched planter is stunning with an orchid, or with a few pretty guest/hand towels.
Another very popular tray, so pretty for a vanity or bar
Another larger planter with beautiful fancy scrollwork, imagine a gorgeous hydrangea plant in this!
You haven’t heard…you cannot be too rich, too thin or have too much silver..lol!
My European line is filled with all kinds of fabulous trviets, dough bowls and cutting boards that are either antique or made of reclaimed woods. Just fabulous for anyone who loves to be in her kitchen!
I don’t think there is anyone who wouldn’t love to receive linens bearing their initial. I offer these fabulous guest towels, dinner napkins and cocktail napkins with an oversized single letter and fancy scrolling. Just got in a large order so most initials are ready to go!  Such an elegant and feminine gift.
The linen guests towels with a fancy single letter monogram

Offered in ecru on white or white on white

Beautiful detailing…..

The hemstitched cocktail napkins are also really fabulous and great to have on hand

I always describe these incredible gardenia scented candles as my most favorite candle in the world.I discovered them at the Ritz Carlton and to anyone who knows me, this is the official scent of my home! Then to boot, they are poured into the most beautiful crystal hurricanes that serve as wonderful display objects when the candle is gone. A truly gorgeous gift!
Porcelains…..adds instant beauty to any vignette. They are the perfect finishing touch even for those who have it all. Love the addition of Staffordshire dogs to any setting or a beautiful planter or a pretty little box to add to an existing vignette.
Love this darling small tureen, the ormolu detailing is so beautiful

I love these dogs!! They also come in a few fun colors like orange, blue, black. So elegant!

And this beautiful little box which I sell like crazy is a perfect accent for any table/vignette

Or this beautiful little box with the brass finial, looks gorgeous on a stack of coffee table books or as a pair on a table or console.
This is a beautiful scalloped planter that is perfect given with a potted orchid or other flowering plant!
Just got in these new flower vases, stunning!

And for an avid book reader, how about a darling and very well priced pair of bookends!
And finally the pewter line, Vagabond whose things are just incredibly beautiful, true heirloom quality. Just got a bunch in and I swear I wanted to kidnap each and every piece but I was good and promptly packed things up to go to their new homes!! Their items are just exquisite……
This might be me new favorite item….of course got one for myself. One of my new bestsellers!

Check out the detailing!
How adorable are these lab/hunting dog salt and peppers? Love them!!
I am in awe of the attention to detail…check out the trout in his mouth:)

My little nut bowl in good use……love the little acorn scoop
I want one of EVERYTHING!!!!!
How about this amazing pear branch cheese board? Major swoon.

Incredible attention to details…

Say hello to the Rolls Royce of carving boards, pewter, wood and antler handles!

And these polo player salt and peppers…..have to get a pair for myself.

How about these English saddle napkin rings? This makes me want to have a derby party!
I absolutely have a “thing” for pheasants…..these are just exquisite

I am like a little girl with all my barbies, can’t stop touching them, playing with them and rearranging…..its an addiction!

Also I wanted to tell you, that I  just added a new tab on my online store entitled “Customers enchanted Homes” which is a place for me to post your pictures. I get sent a lot of pictures from happy customers who want to show me how they have used whatever they have bought from me, so it is my pleasure to post the pictures, and sometimes seeing something in a room as opposed to a stock photo gives a new perspective to said item. If you have bought something from the shop and want to share your inspiration, please send me a picture or you can upload it directly to my site, click here.

Mothers Day- Enchanted Home Style!

Good morning. Hard to believe we are in May. I feel like before we know it we are going to be reminiscing about summer, how fast it flew by, and talking about Labor Day…..yikes! ? I wish we could press a pause button. In any case, next holiday as we all know is Mothers Day! I always try to come up with?something different for my mother other than the predictable outfit, or needlepoint pillows (one of her many loves).

?Such an elegant and feminine gift.
The linen guests towels with a fancy single letter monogram

Offered in ecru on white or white on white

OK this is hypothetical at this moment …..as I have eluded to in the past, I am hoping to set up shop and start a small business selling things that are very much “my style”, think old world meets European meets French rustic elegance……best way to describe a look that doesn’t necessarily fit in a perfect neat box all the time but loosely that’s the look I am after. I am doing my “research” right now and having quite a lot of fun. I like to know what excites people in the marketplace. Below are a host of things I have my eye on to “carry” and I would LOVE your feedback.  Just let me know what you think about the feeling of the overall vibe of the accessories here, is there an item or item(s) that you think the marketplace needs more of/is saturated with?

Some of these things I found through my own needs and frustration in not being able to find them ……figuring if I was having a hard time finding something like this, then there must be many others having that same frustration. Would love to know what you like, what you don’t like, what excites you here. Thank you so very much, your feedback is appreciated more than you can possibly imagine. To thank you for your time and contemplation, I am doing a giveaway! All details on bottom of the post. To be eligible for the  giveaway just comment on this post and I will select a winner and post the winner on Saturday afternoon.  If you want an additional chance to win, like me or leave a comment on my Facebook page. (can’t believe I am saying that, feel so “hip”) Click here to visit The Enchanted Home on Facebook.  Thank you and happy make believe shopping!

This would be a labor of love and a great way for me to restart my design career slowly as I finish my own house (well we all know its never really finished but you know what I mean)! I look forward to hearing your feedback, here we go……

Love this line of very elegant old world silver pieces, trays, cache posts, planters, serving pieces…really exquisite! Well priced too:) Imagine a pretty orchid potted in these or rolled hand towels for an elegant powder room, beautiful perfume bottles displayed on the gorgeous scalloped trays……

And for a European touch in the kitchen…some fun reproductions of old European faves, bread bowls, wood trivets and cutting boards, dough bowl, grain feeders, olive trays. These pieces are just gorgeous and are vintage reproductions finished with natural beeswax, vintage hardware and weathered detailing adds to the beauty of these pieces!

And you know I love my decorative porcelains……

How great are these pieces for the ultimate blue and white statement in a bathroom?

Can we seriously ever have enough pillows!! One of my favorite looks, needlepoint and aubusson pillows….a total classic! A little something for everyone from very traditional to more fun and transitional.

And you know how I feel bell jar lanterns, so pretty and works in virtually any space. These are offered in a host of patterns and 4 sizes, S, M,L and Jumbo.

Heres a picture of one in my house so you can see what it looks like a bit better..

And last but not least I will also carry a line of custom topiaries…..like the ones I designed in my own kitchen that many asked about. They will be offered in a variety of sizes and containers….

The lemon leaf topiaries are such a classic…they work in almost any room, any interior

Phew!! This was a lot to take in. But you know I highly value your opinions so now its time for me to hear from you! What excites you here? Anything? All of it? What does the marketplace need more of/less of? Cannot wait to hear. Above all else I want to stay true to what I love, my style and stay with what I know and love. That is my mission and realize you cannot be all things to all people. Can’t wait to hear from you!
