This post, I had prepared about a month or so ago (when I was home bound being sick), then it got put back in my draft box and forgotten about (temporarily).? I said I would share with you periodically? a board that I am really loving and no week does it feel more appropriate to share pictures from my Pinterest “Food fun“? than this week coming off the heels of being home bound due to ridiculously cold, icy, snowy weather.

It has been fun coming up with our own take? on various themes this year……..and I so enjoy seeing what everyone else comes up with too!

The theme this month is both a festive and fun one, Christmas cocktails…..and I had a ball putting it together. Especially since I was originally planning on throwing a real live shindig but alas it was not meant to happen, however am hoping to do a post holiday bash in January. So I had fun living vicariously? through this party and best part of all…you are all invited!

Ready for me to open the door so you can come on in and get this party started?

My invitation might look something like this…..

And as your festive hostess, this is what I will be wearing…..

And of course to show my spirit….gotta add a little green!

A little gold polishes it off!

?The first thing that greets you will be the Christmas tree in the foyer…but it’s not the last one you will see!

You will hear all of your favorite holiday tunes being sung by real live Christmas carolers all dressed up in their holiday finest!

You are then handed a glass of champagne to start the celebrating!

?And as you stroll throughout the house with the hum of the carolers singing their tunes, you see that in every room, Christmas had indeed arrived. I have tables set up all over the house as “food stations” so that people will walk and mingle…..

?Festive touches are everywhere…….

Every space has been decorated to the nines in its Christmas finest!
?The breakfast is cheery and festive too….
?And of course I didn’t forget about decorating the kitchen!!!!
?I have great big bowls of holiday apples and evergreen..

?Paperwhites will be all over….permeating my home with their intoxicating scent

Late week random musings……

Hello. Hope you are having a great week, mine was spiffy and so busy (the steals and deals kept me on my toes all week)…..so crazy how everywhere I turn I am seeing something having to do with Thanksgiving or Christmas! It feels like suddenly the accelerator has been pressed and things are in fast forward…..I almost get dizzy thinking of what needs to get done but am determined to hopefully wrap it all up by the first week of December, because normally mid December I am ready and quite eligible for the local asylum:) All that aside, I DO love the holidays and all that goes along with it, giving, the foods, the weather, the decorating, wrapping gifts, holiday clothes, etc…….but I like when I can really savor and enjoy it, and that only happens when I am organized and stay on task so today is not a day too soon to start the planning!

Before I get started I announced the winner of the mega jackpot skincare from Avery Graham. Unfortunately the winner has not stepped up so I am giving it one more shot. If I have not heard back by Sunday morning, a new winner will be chosen. So Debra….time is ticking! Step right up to claim your prize!

Pink Opulance, opulence eye cream as well as the eye make-up remover that would be a good start to get me on track!
Thanks for the giveaway and insightful information

Anywho, moving along here is what’s new in my world……(all pics taken with iPhone as my camera was not charged)

MY HOUSE. I have some projects in the works. Got my first strikeoff for the dining room of the chinoiserie and while it’s definitely not right it does affirm my decision that this is the way to go and once we get the colors down, its going to be nothing short of spectacular. SO we are back to round 2 and think we are a lot closer now in terms of the colors we are using…cannot wait and of course will share! It is a definite labor of love but oh so worth it!

?The large sample though way too yellow…love the pattern, let the tweaking begin!

?Another smaller sample from long ago, as you can see the background is way off from the rug but you have to start somewhere!

?So my trusty little Benjamin Moore color cards have been making many visits to the dining room!

?And at long last, I have chosen colors for the next sample……fingers crossed!

My bedroom is also finally coming together.? Used this gorgeous cream and blue silk for my closet/sitting area and was waiting till it went up to decided if I would use it for the bedroom and indeed I am, I just love it. Its so soft and pretty and quiet just as I wanted it to be. I have been working hard to find carpeting, its a very large space so the challenge ironically hasnt’ been finding a carpet I like but finding one they have enough of. I have found the mills do not stock carpet the way they used to…sign of the times. So this is the one I can get the most of, it will mean not putting carpeting in my closet and small office, but having it in the sitting area and bedroom which really are most important anyway. So think this is the one and about to pull the trigger…woo hoo!

?It all started with this gorgeous paper from Stark (now discontinued, but available by custom order)

?So after months and months of thinking and looking (more thinking than looking) I found a carpet with just the right cream and just the right soft dusty blue

?And went back to the original trim from Clarence House that I am madly in love with!

?And the gorgeous cream and blue silk…….
?Carpeting
Ready to see the fabric in my sitting room/closet? Love it!

?Pay zero attention the that chair (my first big girl purchase at 22 from Century) still a great chair but am going to reupholster it and the tattered Scalamandre pillow (20 years and going strong) but wrong colors, etc……

?Another carpet that was lovely from Stark but it was too green, not blue enough…..

?Still love this linen, will do some pillows or something in this for sure

?Amazing how often we go back to our original choices…..that was the case with me and I am thrilled.

A GREAT FILM. I like movies of all kinds and I watched one somewhat documentary called “Red Obsession” which is about the soaring prices and unparallelled demand for the famed Bordeaux wines, and of course who is their number one consumer? The Chinese….it is totally fascinating and if this remotely interests you then I would highly recommend it. I know its available on Movies on Demand and I believe Netflix. Here is a sneak peek…..

GREENWICH, CT. I love this place! 15 years ago we had a deal on a house there that turned out to have some serious structural issues and we looked at it as a chance to reconsider and ended up staying on Long Island closer to family. However many many times I have thought and still think this is one of most beautiful places to live. I love Greenwich and if you ever the chance to visit, you absolutely should!! Went to a great restaurant Harvest (thanks Sandy from You may be wandering)? where I had the best shaved Brussels sprouts salad EVER. Then we went into some of our favorite shops including Rinfret (always a fave), here is a recap……

?Yes it really was THAT good!!!!!!!

?Isn’t this charming? I couldn’t resist taking pictures, they always do such a beautiful job…..

?Saw this beautiful very large ginger jar at Two’s Company and my blue and white radar went on high alert!

These next photos are all from Rinfret, which is all decked out for the holidays, its was so festive and beautiful……

GOOD FOOD. You know this is a favorite subject of mine! So two things to talk about. The first I was inspired to find, after eating that out of this world brussels sprout salad and I found one that seems to be very very close from The Divine Addiction. I am trying it this week and will let you know. In case you are interested…..click here for recipe.

Second one is something I tried and LOVED. Worth sharing…trust me on this. One subject I consider myself to be an expert on is food:) If you like puff pastry, mushrooms and Gruyere then you must give this a shot (I also add Parmesan) You can make one big one or cut them into squares as appetizers…..yum! Click here for recipe.

AN INTERESTING VIDEO. You might have thought of this, maybe not. What kind of mother are you? How would you describe yourself as a mother to your kids? How do you think your kids might describe you? This video is worth a look, it is so telling and so touching and makes me wonder how my kids would answer it. Really got me thinking.? Click here to see.

BABY LIGHT MY FIRE. This is for lovely Anita of Castles Crowns and Cottages. She had asked if we had lit the fireplace outside and if we did to please share a picture. Well Anita, this ones for you……wish you were here to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with me!

NEW CONTEST! The blue and white love was such a huge success that I am continuing on with another contest. The new theme is “Hooray for the Holidays“. I am accepting pictures for anything having to do with the holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas) up until Dec. 4th. I will run the contest through Dec. 8th and announce a winner on Monday, Dec.9th.

No rules…however you interpret “Hooray for the Holidays”. Could be a favorite meal, your home all decked out, your Thanksgiving table, a pet or child showing their spirit, etc…..I know I am in for a treat, your talents and inspirations always blow me away. Same rules, two pictures per entrant, you must put Hooray for the Holidays in the subject line of your email (I get a ton of email and dont’ want it lost in the shuffle).

Email me your pictures to theenchantedhome@gmail.com. Thank in advance for entering, you have a little over 2 weeks to send them in! I will also hold a Christmas themed contest in early Jan so get those cameras ready! Some ideas…..

SHOP NEWS. I have been really busy with my little shop. I was excited to help someone with 20 ginger jars for her daughters wedding, she promised to send pictures, I can’t wait! I also have some lighting that was custom done that went in which I will also share. I love nothing more than when customers send me pictures of their completed projects.

I am going to be doing a post in the next week? about various holiday gifts/promotions in? my shop as well as deadlines, because time is ticking!? I am also going to “close shop” for about a week before Christmas. The last day to place orders will be Dec. 14th until after Christmas. In the upcoming post I will also let you know about deadlines for things like monogrammed items, custom napkin rings,etc…..

On my recent steals and deals, I really hit the jackpot. I was lucky enough to have bought a large lot of truly exquisite items from a manufacturer who is restructuring and moving down south. His loss is my gain (and yours)! I have sold the bulk of it but still have about 10-12 boxes to unpack so who knows what’s in them! It’s like a treasure hunt with guaranteed treasure:) I am trying to move through them quickly to ideally get everything up, sold and shipped before Thanksgiving. I will post the newest finds sometime next week……

FINALLY,? as much fun as it is to talk about the fluff and fun of the things we love most……I must speak about the horrific events happening in the Philippines. The devastation is truly unimaginable. My heart breaks for all those affected. The rebuilding effort is going to take a very long time. But right now the focus is on the people and treating the hundreds of thousands who are injured, without food and water, shelter…people who have lost their families and everything they ever owned.
I always like to to help out in whatever small way I can, my only requirement is I want to know my donation is going 100% to the actual relief effort and not to cover administration coats!

http://www.directrelief.org/

I have given through AmeriCares? (who is also a non profit and a wonderful organization too) and thanks to Emily of Splendid Market, I also found out about Direct Relief, whose mission as a non profit organization is to provide medical relief around the world. That is the main focus for the many victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Click here to find out more about them. There is no amount too small, every dollar can make a difference. I hope you will consider donating.

Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you have a wonderful and productive day! I enjoyed putting this post together and really enjoyed being all over the map with my random musings…missed these posts! I think the theme for November (for me at least) will be productivity. I want to get as much done before the Christmas crunch this month as I possibly can. Is there such thing as a relaxing December? Hummmmmm……..I will get back to you on that:)

I am going to be doing a post in the next week  about various holiday gifts/promotions in  my shop as well as deadlines, because time is ticking!

FINALLY,  as much fun as it is to talk about the fluff and fun of the things we love most……I must speak about the horrific events happening in the Philippines.

I have given through AmeriCares  (who is also a non profit and a wonderful organization too) and thanks to Emily of Splendid Market, I also found out about Direct Relief, whose mission as a non profit organization is to provide medical relief around the world.

Midweek random musings……

?

Hi and good morning. Wow, its been actually chilly over here. Yesterday we woke up to a nippy 48 degrees! OK weather gods you can stop right there…no need to show us how low you can go. But in truth its kind of exciting to have worn my very first sweater of the season yesterday and get this…..boots!? How about you, feeling fall yet?

Moving along. Been a busy and productive week around here. I still cannot believe summer is over and in fact the cool crisp weather is indeed pushing its way in. No complaints from me other than its a reminder of how fast time flies. Hope your week is going well. As always a bunch of random thoughts here. Ready to get started? Let’s go……..

HOUSE. Not a whole lot going on this week but one exciting thing is that the loggia lanterns came in and are being put up today, so I am very happy about that…..have waited a long time! It will complete the space and the only other thing are to put 2 ceiling fans but obviously we can now wait until summer to take care of that.? Waiting on a big sample for the chinoiserie for my dining which is very exciting but a slooooow process. My first touch of fall was placing some white mums into a container, hey its a start!

A few readers wanted to see my lights that we put into the family room, so here they are. Thank you Currey and Co. for making such beauties! I have to say I had not even considered them, were going with Arte De Mexico but it was another grueling almost 3 month wait which we did not want to do then I found these and there they were all along…the perfect choice!

SOMETHING I REALLY WANT TO TRY. I LOVE apple crisp. And of course with the beautiful cooler weather moving in..its comfort food season (my fave). But it has to be just the right blend of a not too mushy apple, enough of the sugary goodness, just the perfect crisp, and this recipe promised to be all of those. What is better than a generous helping of warm apple crisp ala mode (of course)! So this is something I will be trying sooner than later, yum! Click here for the recipe which promises to be the best!

Any recipe that starts out like this, gets my attention……

Yes, I’m a fan of hyperbole. Yes, I realize that apple crisp in general is pretty delicious. But this – this was out of this world. Otherworldly. Ridonkulous. Addictive. I’ll stop with the adjectives

GORGEOUS STATIONERY. Beautiful stationery…….I am always like a kid in a candy shop when I discover a new fabulous stationery line. There are not enough reasons in the world to have a party for the amount of gorgeous stationery that abounds. We got an invitiaion from this company and I was immediately enchanted, fit for a princess! Atelier Isebey is very special indeedy…..absolutely worth sharing and you know I am loving that first one (but the pink and gold is exquisite too)

Click here to visit Atelier Isebey...exquisite!

?A few more beauties….

?The details are so exquisite!

BLUE AND WHITE LOVE. And speaking of blue and white….. just in case you are wondering how to add a little blue and white love into your life…let me count the ways. No let me show you the ways. I made up this little board filled with a bunch of blue and white goodness…whether you wear it, sleep in it, decorate with it or talk on it…its always fabulous!

A WONDERFUL SKINCARE SURPRISE!! I love getting gifts in the mail and when I got this gorgeous box…it was almost too pretty to open. But of course I did and the products so far are fabulous… I will absolutely follow up with you on them once I have given them a few weeks. So far I can say they feel wonderful on my skin and the creator, wrote me a very kind email explaining the different products. No expense was spared in creating these wonderful creams and I am very exicted about starting this new skin care regimen! I think we are going to start hearing more about this line….its worth checking out! Will be sure to follow up with a “report” in a week or two……

I even love the name Avery Graham! Click here to visit them and find out more about this wonderful and very special line of skincare.

MY PINTEREST BOARDS. I am not boasting but I have to say I am really loving how? my boards are shaping up and now finally after all these months of so much talk about Pinterest, finally I “get it’. I am careful as to how much time I spend because if I could easily see,? morning easily turning to afternoon and then to evening……so as with all great things, in moderation (easier said than done).? I decided to highlight a board of mine every now and then. Here is what I am loving this week…..my “Dining rooms to die for” board. Here is a preview, if you want to see more click here.

Monogram anything!

I too so enjoyed the Victoria Magazine “monogram “

Thank you for sharing your grace and beauty.

If you want to get your copy of this limited edition MUST HAVE magazine (a must if you are a monogram lover) click here to order your copy.

As I always do, this is a random post with a little bit of everything. Ready to get started? Here we go…..

Home front. I have ordered a bunch of pillows for the back patio. I am excited to put it all together. In the meantime took the pillows form the loggia to “play” and though the size is a little small, I ordered 22″ pillows vs. 20″ I do love the way the navy looks. I decided to keep the back patio clean and crisp, so am going with solid navy pillows in a monogram along with some trellis pillows and a few squares. I do love the Chiang Mai but decided for now at least to keep it on the loggia and do this a bit differently, all the while tying in the navy. I threw in a few other pictures of random things around here too….

?The white is a bit too “white” but these are not for this grouping, I was just playing, I do love the solid navy and trellis patterns…..

?The pool area, its separate from the house (original site and original pool house). We do have plans to redo it at some point but cannot say its a priority. With older kids who basically never use it, it just doesn’t see a lot of use but I must say when? I do go down there, it is so relaxing and serene and “removed”…..need to visit more often!

?The landscaping is coming in nicely..the hedges and grass finally looking almost done! The flowers and trees took a real beating however with the heat, so I am not showing you those:)

?A few readers asked to see the back stairs and the limed oak finish…so here it is!

Yes that is Teddy, that is HIS spot…just so he doesn’t miss a thing!

And look what came in this last week….my bar stools! I was so excited, I am glad I decided to keep them simple in a pretty linen/cotton ivory fabric with ant. brass nailheads, I may have some small lumbar pillows made for them out of the pretty curtain fabric. I was thinking they would have been taller but they still look great and are super duper comfy!?

I really like the way blue and white porcelain looks next to browns, it really makes it pop

Added an orchid and urn to this vignette, and really like the way it looks……

A gorgeous sunset. One of summers simplest pleasures.? Sat. night we went out to dinner to a beautiful waterfront restaurant and had the most beautiful weather, and sunset which warranted whipping out my iPhone (of course)! It looks more like the view you? might see while on a Caribbean island as palm trees around these parts are most unusual!

The restaurant itself, called Ocean.

Pillows! And speaking of great pillows, I must give a “shout out” (kids are cringing if they read this) to Michele of Calico Daisy, my new pillow “go to” person. If you love monograms and monograms done really well, her work is flawless. She is amazing and her prices are quite fair especially given what some charge for appliqued monogrammed pillows, a pretty penny!? I love the way an entire bed can be transformed with even the addition of one or two monogrammed pillows and some of these would make amazing gifts too.? Here’s a look at some of what Michele offers…..click here to visit her.

A few great posts worth sharing. I like to save/bookmark posts that I really enjoyed and want to be able to go back to. A few worth sharing are below……

Excellent post on a recent trip to the renowned Blackberry Farm…. a beautiful post! Click here to visit

For anyone who has dreamt of taking a can of spray paint to an outdated piece of furniture (but like hasn’t had the guts or needs some encouragement, myself included) this wonderful post is for you……

A great robe.? I am a believer that we should all be able to go about life in our pjs and robe (as long as they are pretty)! I mean think about, we would all be soooo much? more comfy, no miserable woman trying to act happy while they are absolutely miserable in shoes that kill and pinch their toes, no men stuck in heavy warm suits and cumbersome ties…we would all be so much happier!

?But seeing that that particular trend is not likely to catch on anytime soon, I do enjoy slipping into my pjs and robes pretty much the minute i get home and know I am home for the day. So when I see a great robe, I buy it, because I loooove my pjs and robes. Thought this was from Malarbay Bay was great looking! So chic and available in navy and green….love it! Click here to visit them.

A scrumptious recipe. I know this is cruel. Believe me its torturous to me too, I feel like I am gaining 5 lbs just looking at this picture!? But this looks sooooo amazingly good. I just need to try it. I am an apple crisp girl (ala mode of course) all the way but think I could make an exception for this beautiful baked pear with none other than caramel sauce! Hello…..come to mama. Click here to be taken to Brooklyn Ragazza for the lowdown on how to make it. It is as beautiful as I am sure it is delicious…doubt mine will come out nearly this pretty but I bet it will taste divine, what a perfect dessert for a fall dinner! Come fall, this is going to be baking my kitchen.

A great new movie. Yes, he is “different”,? but I must say I really enjoy Woody’s movies. In fact some of his movies are some of all time favorites. This one promises to be a good one. Definitely on my list to see sooner than later…Blue Jasmine at the very least looks super entertaining and I love Cate and Alec!

Shop News. Remember when I announced my Enchanted steals and deals last week? Where i will offer a beautiful item or two at deeply discounted prices? A totally random Monday post and Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day…..well guess who didn’t go anywhere? Me! Unfortunately, the first two days of the holiday weekend (when we were supposed to leave) the weather had been horrible, rainy, cold, gray and 50 degrees up until yesterday afternoon. Felt like we were regressing…..until yesterday finally got to see the sun though it was on the cooler side and super windy. Today promises to be the best of the four days…..finally!? We are invited on a friends boat, fingers crossed the weather will allow it to happen and having a BBQ with friends. How about you? Hope the sun is shining where you are…….this is just a “pop in” to say hi and check in. A few random tidbits, so let me get started!

Memorial Day. It is of course alot of fun to get caught up in all the enjoyable things we think about on this holiday, BBQ’s, picnics, big sales, get togethers, etc…but lets not forget the real meaning and who we have to thank for being allowed to have those very freedoms to do all of those wonderful things!

?Our brave men and women in uniform, sometimes unsung heroes,.. to? me, there is simply no more noble job than the one these brave Americans do. They put their own lives on a daily basis on the line for us to enjoy our liberties and freedoms……every day we should salute the heroic job that they do. It is awe inspiring at the very least. So my hat goes off and utmost respect goes out to all who have served and who continue to serve (and their families)…….you make me VERY proud to be an American! THANK YOU for all you do to keep us safe and protected.

How cute is this? Reminds me of Mr. Teddy when he was just a babe…..

Pinterest. I have to admit, I really didn’t “get” all the fuss about Pinterest…..all I kept hearing was about how addicted everyone was and how they couldn’t stay away. Well, though I am far from being addicted, think the light bulb has finally gone on and I have really started enjoying it, pursuing countless amazing boards and starting to collect wonderful images of my own. It is a fun and novel idea, and such a great way to chronicle and keep organized all you love and get inspiration from. Here are a few recent fave pictures from Pinterest…….

They call this a wedding clutch but I say it would be perfect for anyone anytime. How cute is this beaded monogrammed clutch? Love it!

When it rained all day Sat. I met a friend for a movie and then we went shopping….was supposed to see Renoir but there was a misprint and the time was wrong so we saw The Big Wedding instead. Though the cast was definitely “A list”, there was to me,? some kind of disconnect in the story…I kept waiting to feel “hooked” but never did, I did however very much enjoy the gorgeous home, dreamy setting, furnishings and all the scrumptious wedding details in the movie. The delicious popcorn made up for a mediocre movie:) Still really really want to see Renoir, here’s the trailer…..

How insanely good does this look? I mean seriously, this is as cute as it is delicious with a capital D I am sure! Click on Iowa girl eats to get the low down on how to make it. Love the idea for a big gathering, everyone gets their own little serving, no one has to feel “jipped” because someone got a bigger portion…….

One of the many things on my to do list this summer is to catch up with summer reading. I used to be an avid “full time” reader and have demoted myself to being a part time participant of a book club but really miss the “Calgon take me away” experience that getting into a really good book afforded me. We all know that feeling of enjoying and immersing ourselves so much into a fabulous book that you just can’t wait to turn the page and never want it to end. So here’s a few on my list…..anyone read them? Yea or nay? Most of them good, light “summer reads” except Kaleed Hosseini’s book but that’s a must read and I have already ordered it (just came out). Any suggestions you care to add that are must reads? Please tell me!

Some of these were recommended to me by friends and other bloggers, and a few I just knew about because I have read books from that author…don’t know that I will get through all of them but hopefully at least a few!

And I found this on none other than Pinterest so considering how convenient it is that there’s a whole slew of books here to pursue, I am definitely going to look into this extensive list…..

So that’s my Memorial Day wrap up. Hope you had an enjoyable, relaxing and safe weekend. Before you know it, it will be July 4th! And then we will get bombarded with back to school supplies and fall clothes preview……….yes life goes by fast! So enjoy it, wishing you a wonderful day and be back tomorrow!
