Antler mania!

Hello there and happy Monday morning to you.  How was your weekend? Ours was very nice, a Friday night football game, some US Open tennis, dinner with great friends, and plenty of down time on Sunday to enjoy the most spectacular weather we have had in ages. Breezy, high 60’s, bright skies….it doesn’t get better than that! Fall is definitely on our doorstep and it has me thinking about all kinds of things from cooking up our favorite comfort foods, getting to wear beautiful soft cool weather layers and  creating cozy inviting interiors as we get ready for the “hibernation season”.

One thing I really like is antlers. There are obviously real and many many faux. I have bought two very good faux antlers and  had just the spot for one but unfortunately it will not work so I am scouring my home to find out where else I might use them…..have this mild obsession with antlers. Think the first time I fell in love with them is when I visited my aunts spectacular home in France and saw a limestone pair gracing their front door then once inside, they were in the gorgeous library, and then onto the kitchen.

While in France we were lucky to visit a few peoples homes and antlers seemed to be de rigour. I took notice and  made some personal notes. Antlers have become a pretty hot item, both faux and real. My latest thought is  I think I want to place them possibly above my stone hood in my kitchen and possibly in the family room at some point. Whats your opinion on them? Do you like them? I like that you now see them not only in very traditional interiors but modern and transitional ones as well…this decorative element though classic is proving it has a fun and funky side too……

I like this space, simple and elegant, Bungalow Blue
A collection of pretty antlers is a fun way to dress up the wall on top of a pretty chest,,  Between naps on the front porch
Leave it up to Ralph to create such a sumptuous table…..rustic perfection!
The antler collection here is so ideal….Timothy Corrigan
Talk about making a major statement, check out this antler chandelier! Barefoot floor

I think this space is pretty amazing, and a great mix of styles, Luella and June

Suzanne Kasler took a bunch of white resin antlers and created a dramatic wall vignette in this more modern feeling space

If I had a mountain/ski house…I owuld love to recreate this powder room, love that antler mirror!

The antler chandelier looks gorgeous on this beautiful porch, Houzz

Jennifer Brouwer uses a pair of antlers above a mantle in this cozy transitional space beautifully

I really love them when used in conjunction with other elements like layering them with art, and other decorative objects, Pottery Barn

 Antlers are everywhere in France…….

Love this amazing antler Chandler for this gorgeous outdoor space!

Rinfret got it right with these stunning antler sconces…love this foyer!

This is a great example of mixing the old and new, shiny and rustic….

Gorgeous antlers in this sensational bath, Martyn Thompson

This all white more transitional setting shows resin antlers work with all decors! Mary McGee

Antlers in grand spaces like this chateau are a match made in heaven….

This transitional office space gets an entire wall of antlers, makes for an interesting wall! House Beautiful

They are a great way to add interest to any blank wall, Gretha Scholtz

The antlers give this dark masculine space a wonderful added touch!

Love this idea of adding a pair of antler to a gorgeous wreath!

Have always loved this room by Kathleen Rivers

Even in a very monochromatic space…they add a sense of texture and interest, RH
I love antlers when paired with interesting art!
This showroom was filled with the most beautiful antler pieces, my own picture taken at Maison de Objet  show in Paris

Sometimes antlers are used merely for decorative objects such as in this pretty kitchen, House Beautiful

So….thats a wrap up on antlers. What do you think? Like? Love? I would love to hear what you have to say on the matter. Hope you are off to having a fabulous day and a great week. Thanks for stopping in……..

Three cheers for Cherry blossoms and a giveaway!!

Hi there! I have sooooo missed being in blogland, making my rounds and really missed all my readers! My little getaway was wonderful and I came back to an overflowing mailbox, and lots of orders to get out. No rest for the weary…but I love every minute:) We are off again later today on a mini road trip for the next three days to do some college visits so I am thrilled to share with you a post I had put together a week or so ago, I will be back on Sunday and just in case I do not have the chance to post want to wish everyone a very happy Easter! Next week…..everything goes back to normal!

I looooove cherry blossoms. I can still remember the first time we attended a cherry blossom festival in Washington DC when I was a kid, I was totally transfixed in a way I cannot quite explain. As a young girl, we were also in Japan for the cherry blossom festival and have lots of pictures of my sister and I standing against natures most spectacular backdrop. Perhaps this was the very beginning of my love for flowers and nature in general, without my even knowing it. They are as beautiful and elegant as they are dramatic. Only downside is that they don’t last as long as would be ideal (forever would be ideal).

I  have searched high and low for a very realistic looking cherry blossom and finally found them! I am soon going to be offering them  on  my online site,  under new arrivals. These blossoms are exceptional! Best part, they really do last forever!!

I am also offering up a wonderful giveaway from Madhouse by Michael Aram, the maker of beautiful and sophisticated melamine and paper dinnerware.  Love the line….all details below.

So first a look at all the beautiful ways cherry blossoms can be enjoyed both indoors and outdoors……..

 Simply breathtaking! The public Asian

 Japan cherry blossom festival, Artsonearth
DC in all its cherry blossom glory! Jennings and Gates

Nothing quite like the wow factor that cherry blossoms always bring to a table! Theknot

Walking underneath a huge canopy of cherry blossoms is like walking down heavens path…….

Florie Hupert

Stunning cherry blossom inspired wallpaper in this gorgeous bathroom is so fresh, Houzz

WOW!!! Themetapicture.com
They certainly make a beautiful wedding cake! The cake girls

What room doesnt’ look instantly spectacular with a huge spray of cherry blossoms?

Love them as inspiration for beautiful cookies, Callmecupcake.com

Preston Bailey has proven over and over again he knows how to create total fairytales out of flowers!

And can a party table look any prettier than one set with an explosion of cherry blossoms? Collection 26

Love the idea of spring-y dinnerware with a cherry blossom theme, Macys

Against the all white, the effect of the pale pink blossoms is simply breathtaking! Elizabeth

Stunning cherry blossoms cake Let them eat cake
Cherry blossom festival in Tokyo, Japan

They make a lovely card even lovelier….Mujka

Adore this bathroom! So elegant and refreshing with the pink cherry blossom paper!
How incredible are these etched glasses with cherry blossoms!! I love them! Branca

Wow…..this just takes my breath away! Calligraphy by Jennifer

Now to show I practice what I preach, here they are in my own home………….

Love them! They add such elegance and a bit of drama to any room they are used in. The height does magic…….I love real of course but a good faux is hard to beat as they last forever! How about you? Do you love them as much as I do?

Now onto this wonderful giveaway from The Madhouse Collection by Michael Aram . The giveaway is for a dinnerware setting for 8. They make beautiful papergoods and melamine dinnerware, looks really expensive but the prices are amazing! Their designs are simply gorgeous, so unique and really sophisticated. Beautiful belljars…….

Notice I changed the pictures in my header? I figured why not change it up to reflect summers light, airy vibe with a blue and white touch. Hope you enjoyed a relaxing and happy, safe Memorial day weekend.Hard to believe summer is officially here, we ended up having a lot of fun, it was more action packed than I originally was hoping for but once in the throes of all the activity, gotta admit we had a darn good time!

Before I begin, I was so honored to have been featured in a really fabulous online magazine spread, Belle Inspiration. If you arent’ familiar with it, you are missing out, its a wonderful online magazine created by tastemaker Mimi, and is wonderful treasure of all things French. I was so honored when they asked to feature me and The Enchanted Home shop! Click here to visit (click on May/June issue) . It begins on Page 79-80. Its worth heading over! It is such a beautiful spread….thank you Belle Inspiration!

One of my favorite kinds of lighting is bell jars. Just like the ones I have in my kitchen which is what prompted me to even start carrying them in the first place. They are classic, elegant, don’t detract, just enhance and are always such a perfect choice when in doubt. They also provide a nice soft lighting, nothing too strong but a definite room enhancer.  I have seen them work their magic in the most traditional spaces to very light airy modern/transitional ones.  So today a look at them in all their beautiful glory…what do you think, do you like belljars? Have them? Would want them? Would love to know!

So first my own belljars, funny for lanterns that were supposed to be “temporary” I think they are now staying. For good. They literally look perfect here, and for anyone who has seen them, they have thought I am crazy to consider switching them….so looks like they are home sweet home. These are the “tulip etched” design……..

I love the etching, gives it such an old world appeal

Belljars hold their own in the most spectacular and formal of spaces, Barry Dixon
Love the way the belljar was used in this showstopping foyer, Intrinsic Designs
Love the belljar in this super chic bathroom, Jennifer Eisenstadt
They are the perfect choice for a bathroom, House Beautiful (Same line as I carry)
This pair in nickel by Dana Wolter adds just enough tradition to a somewhat transitional feeling kitchen
Love how Barry Dixon used a belljar for this beautiful girls room
Rinfret chose a beautiful etched glass belljar for this beautiful and stately dining room (Same line as I carry)
Even for dramatic spaces, JMA

Rinfret used a collection of four (these are the line I carry) to create an interesting lighting design

Belljars are perfect for hallways and gallery type spaces, James Michael Howard

A pair of belljars is like a sure thing above an island, Deborah Lehman
Belljars to me, are always the perfect choice for baths and smaller spaces too (same line as I carry)
Adore this closet by Barry Dixon……the belljar is a perfect accent here to not detract from all the fabulousness in this space!
Adore this space by Mary Evelyn, the belljar is a great compliment but does not detract from the beauty of the room
A trio of pretty belljars work perfectly with the scale of this long island

This is the cut star design, used beautifully in this stunning bath, Rinfret (same line as I carry)
A pair of belljars with a bronzed finish looks beautiful in this kitchen, James Michael Howard
The pretty and “go with everything” starburst design is a perfect compliment to this pretty dining room, Kristin Panitch
Belljars are my favorite lighting for hallways, both big and small, Bacco (same line as I carry)
Belljars can hold their own even in the most formal of spaces, as executed by Barry Dixon
This is the diamond cut pattern and reflects light beautifully (Thes are also from my line)
For a cleaner crisper feel, the polished nickel finish gives a nice gleam and adds to a crisp aesthetic
I think they are perfect for transitional spaces like small vestibules, Intrinsic Designs
Love the oversized scale Thomas Hamel used for this cozy elegant breakfast nook
Love the mix of styles here, the belljars with a highly polished nickel finish were a great choice, Downsview
Homey Design shows that even in more transitional spaces, belljars are a great choice
Love the way the belljar here adds the effect of lighting against such beautiful window, Barry Dixon
Another pretty example of why these always work for above an island! Alexandra Luhrs (From my line sa well)
Ralph ( as in Ralph Lauren) yes we are on a first named basis, uses belljars in his personal closet! Smart man that he is:)
For tall ceilings, they do a nice job of anchoring the volume of the space, Doma Architects
Barry Dixon chose a tinted belljar for this elegant bath
Even in a more formal room like a dining room, belljars look fabulous, prefer the ones with the metal tips for dining rooms, Rinfret
I think belljars are an ideal lighting option for foyers and vestibules, Barry Dixon
So….do I have you hooked yet on belljars? What do you think? Do you like the subtle way they add interest to a space yet don’t compete with what else is going on in the room as some light fixtures do? I think thats one of the most redeeming qualities about them, besides their versatility is that that they add interest, beautiful soft lighting but do not detract from what else is  happening in the space.

Reminder for anyone thinking about belljars from my shop, my approx. 20% price increase is effective tomorrow June 1st. They, even with the increase will be still be considerably less than my competitors, but right now they are as low as they can go! Thanks for stopping by and would love to hear your thoughts on belljars! Wishing you a wonderful day.

Designer Spotlight: Palm Design Group

Hi everyone……things are moving along, just super busy as you can imagine trying to settle in and get somewhat organized, feel like we are just scratching the surface. Tomorrow next round of personal belongings arrive, so it will mean another frantic round of unpacking, organizing, sorting,etc…..but I hope to do a small updates post in the next few days, I promise! Here is a post I worked on in advance and I still have a few more amazing guest posts coming your way….
Hi there! I found the Palm Design group by accident looking through a design magazine in our hotel, The Phoenician (which I highly recommend by the way) while in Scottsdale a few years ago. I was immediately taken and smitten over their knack for creating beautiful rooms that combine American sensibility with the trace of a European feel. Their spaces are light and airy, inviting, classic and above all else supremely elegant.
I was intrigued and suddenly started to see more of their work  published which is very understandable. After looking at their portfolio, I realized their entire body of work is quite spectacular. Based in Arizona, this firm has officially won me over. What I love about their rooms, is that they feel like they could have been there for years (my favorite kind of space) and are really timelessly elegant. The interiors are simple and very classic, not fussy, overdone or too formal. I love the vibe that that seem to create time and time again. Clearly this is a very talented group over there. Take a look and see what you think about their look. Enjoy……
These colors are so beautiful together, what an inviting and elegant room!
Great kitchen, full of character
Lovely guest bath….love the “chest” console and bench
Here the mantle appears to take center stage, a very inviting space
Love an ottoman in a bathroom, this ones a beauty
A delicate dressing table….
Soft colors make for such a cohesive feel to this bedroom
Another charming bedroom
I love interesting sinks and vanities, don’t you?
Wow a visual masterpiece!
Absolutely love these colors…cools and warms, beautiful!
A tonal and very elegant living room
Those soft washed colors again….so soothing
Love this bath, the perfect balance of rustic elegance and coziness
Amazing how something so simple can be so beautiful
Love these chairs flanking the gorgeous stone fireplace
This backyard is dreamy……..love everything about it!
Ahhhh…something about a white bathroom and how gorgeous is this settee?
Love the colors in this room, the light is just fantasy like.
Great looking space, with its vast size, high ceilings, this is one dramatic room
Wow…just wow!
I want this!
The light colors do it for every time…..makes it so inviting
Gorgeous kitchen with the old hand molded brick floor, stunning!
Love lanterns and they apparently do too!
Arent’ these colors so soothing for a bedroom? Love the washed floors…..
How gorgeous are these rooms?  Do you have a favorite? What do you think about this particular design style? Would love to know which and what you think about the cool soft palette they tend to use. To me, its a winning combination all the way. I especially love all those washed woods mixed in with the rich blues. And those outdoor spaces, so glamorous and beautiful! Wishing everyone a wonderful day!

Sunday showhouse…….and you’re invited

Happy Sunday! Hope you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. Mine has been quite busy so I am looking forward to a day of semi relaxation (son is in a lacrosse tournament all day long, who am I kidding). As I do every Sunday, it is a day to showcase and  enjoy three spectacular homes. But before I begin, on a sidenote……I have to say I recently more than once experienced “peony envy” particularly after eyeing Elizabeth’s gorgeous freshly cut peonies from Pretty Pink Tulips blog. Peonies and hydrangeas are my absolute favorite flowers (and orchids). Well- yesterday I was at the new house, taking a walk and lo and behold..what do I see? Is that a wild peony bush I spy? Yes…it was. I was so excited!! I quickly got a pair of scissors and started clipping away…..ran home to make up two small arrangements. They also happened to be my favorite color peony, the palest blush pink…. peony envy problem solved!

The unsuspecting peonies “hiding”
And there they are just waiting for me to find them!

Beautiful color….

Perfect bloom

It only took a few minutes to make those babies mine!
I found a pair of small blue and white Chinese vases
Voila! Simple and elegant…
Love the color and lushness
My peony wishes come true!

Moving onto to our three beautiful homes……

BARBADOS. You could probably give me a pretty little tent on a beach and I wouldn’t complain as long as its in Barbados! But then you get this fabulous formal vacation home, and its really over the top! Rene Margie’s built this home from scratch and is responsible for all the decadent interiors. The grounds are a lush tropical oasis and the opulence continues inside, it looks like something from another era. Here is his formal take on a Caribbean colonial plantation home..quite the getaway, don’t you think?

I would be spending A LOT of time on this hammock
This back has almost a theatrical feel to it, its so lush
GREENWICH, CT. This beautiful home situated in fabulous back country Greenwich was done by arhictect Ike Kleigerman Barkley. This beautiful coastal home situated right on the Long Island Sound was born out of the owners desire to build a smaller home than they previously owned, which would be a modern take on a Gothic and Romanesque style home. The result is the wonderful stone, glass and wood structure. The interiors features a lot of warm rich woods and a slightly more traditional feeling decor. An indoor pool pavilion completes this fabulous home. (and what a view)!

Check out that view from the indoor pool……stunning!

With a view like this, I would never again complain about having to sit and pay bills!
FAIRFIELD COUNTY, CONNECTICUT. We stay in Connecticut and move onto this black singled home decorated by Alexa Hampton. At first I thought black shingles..how odd! But I actually really like the look of this rambling English inspired country home. On one side of the facade is the black wood and on the other stucco. The interiors reflect an ongoing eclectic mix of new and old, the decor is fresh, alive and young.Interesting to see the mix of the traditional style home outside and the surprising more modern interiors. Come on in and see what you think!

This is a great and cozy room

So what do you think? Do you have a clear cut favorite? I think they are all interesting and very clearly defined by their own personal style. Its always fun to see otters interpretation of their “dream house” isn’t it? Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!
