64 ?painting and fine art?October 15, 2012 11:48 PM??number 4 is so pretty! Thanks for such a cute and creative

The most exciting thing around here lately is that the loggia is done!! So excited and it came out so beautiful. For now we placed a table and four chairs we have owned there to have something but eventually we are going to put the new furniture out there (to be ordered on Monday) and use that stone table and add wicker chairs to it and place it more the corner. We still need lighting but its done and its very exciting. I cannot wait to start using it……

Here’s some of what I have in mind……

It’s starting to look like fall around here…..absolutely beautiful time of year and with the abundance of trees in our area, I must say its like a magical spell has been cast and its just breathtaking at every turn. It really just started happening a few days ago but I have enjoyed trying to capture a little bit of it on film, here’s what I got….so far. I assure much more to come as things really rev up!

Cooking and baking are practically synonymous with the word holidays. I fell over seeing these delectable goodies. I am considering a holiday cocktail party, seeing these scrumptous treats has me leaning towards doing it but then again its my stomach talking not my head which knows how much work/stress it can be. Have to think about that one but feast your eyes on these! ?I mean seriously if these won’t put you in the holiday mood, what will?
Opening the door to my heart…so cute!
Whoa! Bring on the milk!

Colin Cowie (husbands and boy would love the mini versions of their favorites)

Too cute
Holy cow! Caramel apple cake…oh yea!
Peter Callahan

Gorgeous beef wellington

Now that I have you hungry……sorry, they were just too special to not share! I am excited, going see this movie tonight, The eye has to travel about Diana Vreeland. As soon as I had read about it, knew I had to see it and its playing in my neck of the woods. Diana Vreeland was a remarkable pioneer and this movie celebrating her life and contributions looks fantastic!

Two books I just ordered and cannot wait to get…do you have them? What do you think? They both look like winners, hope they don’t disappoint!

On a fashion front…I looooove boots. Every year add a few to my collection. I have had some for years and years, cannot part with them. These are the ones I an currently coveting. The good news is they are all stunning and available in my size, the bad news is they are all from Gorsuch (favorite company) and now I need to narrow it down……….

No your eyes to do not deceive you, that IS fur and these are the J Mendel version of wellies!
Announced a frequent buyer program for my online store which is effective until Dec. 15th. Click here to visit yesterdays post if you didn’t see it. (it has the details)
Last tidbit, hot off the presses, my guest room started to get done. I am overjoyed with how the crown/carona has come out. Granted the bedding, pillows and windows are not done. And the tiebacks I ordered haven’t come in but I had to share a sneak peek, taken with my iphone last night. I will have an entire photo session with my camera when done (the colors aren’t great here) but I was so happy with it wanted to show you one in progress shot….

That’s about it, this is a short post (for me at least) just wanted to say hi and share whats new and exciting over here. What are you up to this weekend? Hope whatever you do is enjoyable and wonderful. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Late weekday musings…….

Hi and happy Wednesday. Busy week and just when I thought this post might be short and sweet, it grew, and grew and I added on so its actually pretty chock full after all! Boy these weeks are going by so fast, I saw the first hint of Christmas advertising this morning and nearly fell off my chair. Its lurking and not as far as we might think……..I get heart palpitations just thinking of it. Amazing how when you are in your 20’s everything is just taken in stride, you are so “go with?the flow” but bam! fast forward to your 40’s and suddenly everything seems like a big deal, you get anxious over the smallest details,etc…..PLEASE tell me I am not alone on this!

This week not a whole heck of a lot going on. I got in another round of hardware and think I may have finally found what I am looking for. ?I am actually mixing manufacturers (not unheard of) and I am really loving how the samples look…..check it out. What do you think? Think we have a winner!!

One look I like for masculine rooms and spaces is a clean roman shade in a solid color with a decorative tape. Its timeless, classic and not too fussy. So for my husbands very patient bathroom, I think I finally found a good solid and a great tape. Though I liked the previous choices, they were not totally sitting right with me, but this one feels perfect. The colors are soft and work beautifully with the tile. Ditto the same look I am doing in my sons bedroom, I dont’ want to use wood blinds, I want something softer and a little warmer looking…have a look!

For my sons room……love the navy pop this will give a simple treatment

A few of the finalists for fabric and two tapes, the one on bottom I think is the winner

Its a great match and not overpowering to the beauty of the floor

?And finally started looking again for my window treatment for window seat. The other one I chose was very pretty but a little dark, I want something a little softer ?as this entire space is fully wood paneled and can border on being a darker area of the house so want it light and fresh feeling. Thinking this simple dot that has the navy and adding one of the pretty gold/navy trims….thoughts?

Are you a boot person? I LOVE boots and wear them pretty much all winter long, I was so happy to see so many great looking boots coming out this season. I can justify spending more money on them because I wear them so much and afterall it’s ?a very long season. Here’s a few faves…..

(all found at Neiman Marcus)

And I am really lusting after this 10 PLY you heard right…10! cashmere sweater coat. SO great looking and I love gray, it goes with everything (found at Gorsuch, one of my favorite online shops to drool over)

This is so “me”…anyone who knows me will agree!

I will take the boots too, though a bit high for me…but I guess I could swing it on occasion.
You know I love when you send me your pictures…I get so excited! So was thrilled to get these pictures from my buddy, Elizabeth (she, Melinda and I have a planned fall meet up in Virginia horse country) and I cannot wait!! They have even promised to throw me a brunch like this one with little ‘ol me as the guest of honor. Theres no way I am letting them back down now!! Feast your eyes on this gorgeous fete…….(featuring my silver chargers that she bought from me)

The chargers look perfect with her stunning Herend gracing them!
Speaking of beautiful tables….admittedly I started thinking of Thanksgiving, my favorite dinner where I eat with abandon, oops my favorite holiday of all! I think this year I am treating myself to Spodes woodland pattern for fall dining. It is so classic and I have always admired it. Think it would look pretty nifty on the chargers, don’t you think!

Dough bowls..everyone seems to love them! I get frequent requests for small round ones and wish I had one for every time someone has wanted one!! I got in a batch of 3 small ones (about 11″ round) and have one left, if interested email me. Click here to email.

The napkin rings that everyone loved from my find at Brimfield are going to be officially up for sale in my shop tomorrow. If you missed my Brimfield post, its worth a look, click here. There are a wide variety of styles/designs and there is a customizable service available too. To start I am going to offer one of 6 styles. The equestrian, the various animals on a bike, and a few others. Below are two of the ones that really caught my eye. These take approx. 3 weeks as they are made to order. Right now I have 4 in stock of the first style (4 different animals, very whimsical) and 2 of the equestrian (with 8 on order). If you are interested, must shoot me an email otherwise look for them tomorrow or Thursday!
The set includes one dog, one bear, one rabbit and one squirrel

The equestrian style-

Also very happy to report that my lamps category is finally being added. It will possibly be up by the time you are ?seeing this or at the latest by late in the day today. ?I apologize for the delay. I know many of you have inquired but its here at last and all items for sale are in stock! I think its a pretty fabulous selection?of harder to find than ever blue and white porcelain lamps. In addition I am going to carry other colors so feel free as always to let me know if you are looking for something in particular that you do not see (size or color). Click here to take a peek, and here’s a few to give you an idea……

And of course the super popular mini Staffordshire dog lamps, now in two colors…..

Also got in this very large magnficent planter/footbath from my porcelain vendor. I actually want to use a pair eventually in the dining room but for now put it on my coffee table. Its quite large about 22″ long and 12″ tall with beautiful ormolu handles……take a look! I could see it without anything as the beautiful design is carried out on the inside of the planter or with beautiful flowers planted (orchids would be stunning)!
UPDATE- per many requests this planter/footbath is now on my online store. Click here?to see it in my online store. I also have it in another style, a departure from my blue and white but it was too pretty to pass up…….

And the other style…..also stunning!
Also loving my new monogram items, ordered these “T” soaps and let me tell you, besides being totally beautiful, they lather??up and smell heavenly. REALLY good quality soap, even my 16 year old remarked on them, and he doesnt’ normally say anything?about “things like that”.

Kept next to my kitchen sink!
So that about wraps up all my odds and ends this week, a little all over the map but thats what makes these posts fun to write up. Hope you are having a good and productive week. The weather has been splendid here with a capital S! Just over the top amazing. Thanks for stopping in……

I was so happy and honored to receive this wonderful blog award from not one but TWO ? friends, Debra from Acquired Objects?and Teresa of the lovely Splendid Sass. A little about these two fabulous blogs.…Acquired Objects, a beautiful blog showcasing Debra’s fabulous taste, elegant Vermont abode, mouth watering antique textiles and her penchant for all things beautiful and then there is \?Splendid Sass, which features the most beautiful heavenly interiors, uber talented designers and their work, and she always sprinkles her blog with a devine recipe! Of course their infectious, warm personalities shine through loud and clear!?Thank you Teresa and Debra. I am so lucky to count you both as friends. Part of accepting this award is telling five things about myself and then passing along to five other bloggers…..so here we go!

1. I am SEVERELY claustrophobic, even looking at an elevator makes me shake, I kid you not. Happened 20 something years ago when I was 8 months pregnant living in NYC, and went to visit someone and rode the elevator from hell. Alone, no phone, with?a totally possessed elevator which resulted in a permanent condition of severe claustrophobia! The good news I always take the stairs no exceptions wherever we are…..including having walked up to the Rainbow Room at the top of Rockefeller center!!

2. I am such a kid at heart, I love seeing the world through kids eyes…..still have to admit I get excited over visiting Disney, walking through magical Epcot and the Magic Kingdom, unlike most who get exhausted, being there in that magical venue just revs me up and gives me a new dose of youthful energy!! ?I think at this point in the game, my kids are way over Disney so I guess I will likely have to wait for grandkids….argh!

3. I cry over Johnsons baby commercials, Disney, Hallmark and even over some of the diaper commercials. Think its a combination of looking back, quite fondly on a time that will never be again (when my kids were really young) and just thinking back to that precious innocent time when the mere mention of Disney world or a new toy would mean wide eager eyes, a smile a mile wide and the biggest bear hug one could hope for! Now I get grunts from my Chinese rapping son who makes an occasional appearance from his “crib” upstairs. (actually hes a beyond polite boy but the Chinese speaking rapper still applies…lol)

4. That I really think I will want to move out to the country one day and fulfill a lifelong dream to plant a mega garden, herbs, vegetable, fruit, floral you name it! Grow my own olives and bottle my own olive oil, a few fig trees, a tomato garden to rival all tomato gardens. You get the picture! And have a few horses, cows and chickens. Maybe even open a small restaurant on the property, always dreamt of building a small quaint but charmingly elegant restaurant that only seats 12 or 14 right in the middle of the crop fields! Wouldnt’ that be neat? Will you come and be my guest? I promise I will also have one heck of a gorgeous guest room waiting!

5. I know I am mildly OCD, and have many obsesssions! ?You now know my penchant for even numbers, to the point where when I get gas I must like to stop on an even number! One other such obsession is my obsession with apres ski wear. ?I LOVE Gorsuch. Do you know of them? I seriously NEVER throw one of their catalogs away…they have the most beautiful things! One look a their amazing offerings online or their catalog, and you will “get it”. And those “other things”, well when I discovered a BLT sandwich I ate them every day for a month, current obsessions are with coffee, Hermes anything (those two have been long time) , cozy pj’s, anything equestrian(not a new obsession always loved it), velvet chairs, sofas and ottomans, the colors gray and camel together, white marble anywhere, copper pots, urns of all sizes preferably a little aged, moving into my house, anything old and French, the palest blue/gray color palette in a room, chunky gold charm bracelets, and taking an amazing vacation sometime soon!

There…that’s a bunch of random facts about me, don’t you think! Now for the second part…passing it along. I have SO many blogging friends who are SO deserving of this award, but this time around I am handing it out to someone who A. I have never awarded before and B. someone who is a little newer (at least to me) and C. someone whose blog I really love and anticipate visiting! ?So (in no particular order) congratulations to……..(Please click on each one to visit, they are all wonderful treats and I promise if you don’t know of them already you will be happy you do now)!

You now know my penchant for even numbers, to the point where when I get gas I must like to stop on an even number! One other such obsession is my obsession with apres ski wear.  I LOVE Gorsuch.

So (in no particular order) congratulations to……..(Please click on each one to visit, they are all wonderful treats and I promise if you don’t know of them already you will be happy you do now)!
