Result:? 33?? Scribbler July 11, 2013 at 10:21 AM?

All your things are beautiful so it would be hard to choose a favorite! I would have to say for RIGHT NOW that I would love the bathroom set because I am getting ready to redo one of my baths. The plates are just really gorgeous too.

As with all my random musings post…this one is a bit of this and a bit of that. I loved hearing your take on the white dresses yesterday. Many of you loved my personal fave too, #3 though for the event tomorrow night its way too dressy, it is the kind of dress I would love to own and have in my closet, it feels like a throwback to elegant timeless Audrey Hepburn but there were so many I loved. If you missed the post click here, and weigh in on your favorite. Let’s get started, shall we?

Very picture heavy….don’t say I didn’t warn you!

One Kings Lane. Admittedly I have grown a little skeptical of this site. I used to love it but my last three orders either came in damaged or were of inferior quality…so that was a huge disappointment. One was pillows that were so cheaply made I ended up giving them away, two broken ice buckets and dishes that came in that looked beautiful online but were really horrible in person. So though I still like to occasionally look I am have been leary about ordering any more. However I would have soooooo made an exception for both of these items…….both sold out!!!! The chairs I was devastated over…they are sooo beautiful, they belong here!!! Come to mama…….

I was however on a small scale able to score at least something, got? these lovely French bath products…I am sucker for fine soaps and anything with lavender.

Always keep these types of things on hand as last minute gifts…they are perfect!

Pillows……again! So this time around I am stressing and mulling over choices for my back patio. The Chiang Mai look gorgeous back there, I must say. Wrong size, I need bigger (but you get the idea)….however have found these, also Schumacher which have a similar feel but are still different (awaiting swatches to seal the deal).? Thoughts and opinions? Such a hard choice…..really love them all!

I like the idea of using these with one of the geometrics above

Or I can stay with what I have
And I have ordered lumbars in navy with ivory monogram to use on the club chairs….

A good cookbook. You know me and my books. I just can’t seem to stop buying them. Just ordered Mastering the Art of Southern Cooking. I had given this to a friend who loves to cook for her birthday? and when she started telling me about all the delectable recipes she has tried from the book and told me it’s now one of her favorite books (a big compliment because this girl is a serious cook) I knew I had to get one of my own….all in the name of keeping my southern heritage alive of course (and those taste buds on high alert)! Click here to see it on Amazon.

A wonderful cause. A reader of mine (who I will be? meeting in Charlottesville) sent me information on a grassroots group, Lifenotes Music For Children, that? she is involved in and asked for my support. It is a child safety program and I am always eager to help even in a very small way when it comes to anything with kids. Recognizing that kids are auditory learners and love music, this teaches them safety, healthy and character through music…..love the concept.

?I was happy to do it and thought it was worth sharing in case you too feel inclined to help out. There is no such thing as a donation too small and literally every dollar is so appreciated. Click here for more information.

More Hamptons bliss. I don’t know about you, but I never ever tire of seeing the beautiful Hamptons. Hopefully you agree because here are some wonderful highlights from recent trips out that way (that I forgot were on my computer)!

?Super charming Sag Harbor, if you ever get the chance….go!

?These dudes have a rough life……

?This set the tone for our lunch with a front row seat of the yachts (my friends idea to place the glass here and she’s onto something:)

?We had fun watching the crews lug things from oodles of flowers to fresh produce onto the yachts

?Doesn’t this look wonderfully old fashioned down to the vintage car?

?And this my friends,? is the famous American Hotel, a famous small town hotel where legions of famous faces and minds have visited

?The newest “it” hotel Topping Rose House

?We hit the cute pop up shop of Serena and Lily

?The decor was perfect for the beach lifestyle

?This was cheery…

?Here is the house dubbed “the perfect house” by? my boys when they were about five years old, it’s stuck ever since:)

?East Hampton patriotism at its finest

?Hydrangeas are everywhere…..must be that salt air that keeps them so beautiful!

?I think these boys were artists and were sketching this beautiful scene, though I was hoping they would move!

And then another day we were at Dockers in Quogue and I loved this bar stools, done in navy and white…so chic.

Around my house.? Back to the drawing board, and want to finalize pillow selections, get them ordered, get the rest of my trees (now that I found them) and finish up the patio while we can still enjoy it! Awaiting fabric swatches for pillows and rest of trees coming in this week….

?I stuck a tree in just to get an idea…..love it. The tree is about 7 feet tall to give you an idea. I LOVE these planters but they are obviously too small, so the search continues for planters that I can get now and not have to order…..

?Added the geometric with navy tape, love it

?Do you like the lumbar or square on these chairs?

?These bad boys are slowly coming back….they took a beating in the 99 degree heat and intense humidity, so much so that we had to move them. They are finally getting a little life back

Mini and mama orchid. If you are thinking the colors look odd, guilty as charged…I started fiddling with settings on the camera and changed it without knowing how to change it back!

?Love this pale lilac hydrangea too in my statuary planter

Added a bunch more of the richly hued hydrangea now growing in abundance around here, think they look perfect in the blue and white container……

?Love mixing the colors

Hamptons Panache!

Hello! Hope you had a fabulous weekend. Ours was fun, relaxing, dinner with friends, stopped by to a party friends? (wish I had my camera again) had a BBQ last night and plenty of time for downtime around the house which I have to say I really enjoyed. Ahhhh….the beautiful Hamptons, have you been? I am incredibly lucky to live just a few hours away from the gorgeous and infamous Hamptons. Yes, the traffic is a nightmare, housing prices are hard to wrap your brain around,? there really is such a thing as $25.00 lobster rolls and $18.00 drinks but there are also many other incredible even dare I say wonderfully old fashioned things about the Hamptons that makes it well….the one and only.??
The pristine beaches, miles of white sand, charming family owned farms, beautiful parks and preservation areas, world class restaurants, an art scene to rival any other, unparallelled shopping, serious people watching (if that’s your thing) and of course houses that would take the gold if there were an Olympic event for beautiful homes! Each town has its own distinct flavor and there truly is something to love about each and every one of them.?
For homes, I think Southampton and East Hampton are pretty hard to beat in my humble non expert opinion. And let me tell? you? they come with equally impressive prices tags:) But let’s put that little detail aside and talk about the beauty of these Hamptons homes. Today’s post is dedicated to the panache of the quintessential Hampton homes. Ready for some serious eye candy? I think you will enjoy, this was a lot of fun to put together as it is such a unique world class enclave that brings together the biggest names in business, entertainment, music, art, culture…..in a coastal residential setting. Here we go…..
Granted this post represents the tippy top of Hamptons real estate but if we are going to look, then let’s go all the way right……

Weekend musings…..and a giveaway!

Hi there,? hard to believe its the weekend already…….boy this week flew! I was everywhere from the city to the Hamptons to Greenwich, CT. Busy but fun! Hope you had a wonderful and productive week. Busy weekend ahead too and its been raining like mad over here but it was nice to wake up to clearing skies!? Supposed to clear up by later today,? fingers crossed, my white pants and strappy sandals for a tony dinner party tonight and they won’t cut it in the rain (and I don’t have a backup) so fingers crossed the sun comes out🙂

Ready to hear about my random musings?? Lets go…….

A new designer. I love her style…..this first picture that I found totally got me. Christine Godfredson is one talented gal!? I am sure you can see why she had me at this first picture …exquisite, but then I looked further and it was “wow, wow and wow”…..click here for more Christine.

Books. I do love my books so was thrilled when ? I received a wonderful book in the mail sent by Charisse from Whimsical Homes and gardens…. a newer blog and a beautiful one worth checking out! She knows I love horses and art and she being an avid horsewoman was so kind to send me this amazing book, The Horse, 30,000 years of the horse in art. It is absolutely exquisite.? So thank you Charisse and for any horse/art lover out there, I cannot recommend this highly enough and tell you just how beautiful? it is! Wonderful gift idea too…….Click here to purchase from Metropolitan Museum of Art.

Pillows for loggia. Thank you again for helping me narrow things down. I ended up ordering two groupings…and will surprise you! I will try both groupings and whichever one I don’t use will be used for our main patio. I am so excited! If you missed that post, click here….

Roberta Roller- Roberta Freyman. I have spoken of this label before. Love their prints, to me they scream coastal chic living. I love the robes and lounge clothes and fun tunics that can be dressed up or down. The colors just make me happy! When I was in East Hampton a few days ago, I picked up a few goodies. ? Click here to see more…..

i Phone Apps. This is an area where I am a total “newb” (as my kids like to refer to it). But thanks to my trusty friend, Kate of Preppy empty nester, she gave me the lowdown on all the apps to have to be one of the “cool kids”. (I can see my kids eyes rolling now). But seriously there are some amazing apps here!! This was so worth sharing….you have to see it! Here is one example….but click here to see all of them (so worth the read).

Shazam!

How many times do you hear a song on the radio and wonder what it is?? Well, there’s an app for that …and it’s called Shazam! ?Just hold? your phone up to the radio, press Shazam…and you’ll have the song and artist info in seconds. Then you can purchase the tune on iTunes or check out the concert schedule for that artist (that’s how I found out about JT’s NYC concert schedule…and yes, I’m going!!!) ?

Note… “JT” refers to Justin Timberlake and not my favorite, James Taylor. Guess Dude wants to win the award for “most senior audience member!”

Hamptons! One of my favorite places (especially when its not busy and off season)! A good friend and I went for the day and had such a great time. Any day that starts with the best fish tacos is a good day in my book. If ever out that way, you must must try Bostwicks, best fish tacos ever! Here are a few highlights of my day including several pictures of the amazing Restoration Hardware Store in East Hampton, must say they looked exceptional!

Loved the overflowing white hydrangeas in front of the super charming Ralph Lauren store in EH

Every corner has something beautiful to marvel at…..
And check out how good Restoration Hardware in East Hampton looked…….

Loved the antique mirrored panels in the elevator…..

??????????????????????????????????????????????????? Yep it’s official…love the Hamptons as much as ever!

?Shop news. These are the two new oversized jars that were made for Ralph Lauren himself! I snagged 10 of each and let me tell you they are gorgeous with a capital G!? Click here to visit them at my online shop…..

Also very excited, finally after waiting months and months am getting back in the gorgeous chargers, getting in 75 pieces. So if you were one of the ones waiting, email me to reserve them. Truly gorgeous for any table. They are due here next week along with all these beauties…….

Speaking of my online shop..calling all enchanted customers! I want pictures for my online gallery……..please send a few of your beautiful homes/rooms featuring products you have bought from me. Here are some recent ones, the first is one from a customer all the way in Australia..how gorgeous they all are! Email me here with your images so I can add them to my online gallery:)

A wonderful giveaway. Surely you know Betty Lou Phillips! I have every single one of her books and unlike so many design books, hers deliver on every single page! I go back to her books often and reference all kinds of things from beautiful window treatment details to flooring and lighting ideas, she is a true master! Her books literally are like a gift that keeps on giving, can’t say that about too many design books!? Betty Lou is a super duper talented designer heavy on the French accents, which is her trademark and suffice to say,? I am big fan.

I was soooo excited to receive a copy of her latest accomplishment, Interiors by Design. In this wonderful new book/file folder she covers endless design subjects and includes hundreds of photos as well as wonderful “insider” design tips. It’s like having a top designer as your best friend!

And she was generous enough to include a second one as a giveaway. How great is that? This is chock full of all the ‘insiders” information that everyone could want to possibly know. I mean seriously just check out these droolworthy images, tell me who wouldn’t want advice from someone with this much talent!! Click here to visit her site and learn more about this talented dynamo.

So how to win? Easy! Just leave a comment here, and I will announce a lucky winner on Wednesday morning. Remember anonymous readers you must include a first name and last name intial in the body of the comment. Good luck!

Well that’s a wrap! Hope whatever you are doing for the weekend is wonderful and relaxing. We have a fancy schmancy dinner party tonight and a few games,? so it should be fun, not to mention I am knee deep in a few organization projects in my house…..making dents but have a ways to go. Wishing you a wonderful day and a fabulous summer weekend. Hard to believe summer is finally here…woo hoo!

Weekend musings…..and a giveaway!

Hi there,  hard to believe its the weekend already…….boy this week flew! I was everywhere from the city to the Hamptons to Greenwich, CT. Busy but fun! Hope you had a wonderful and productive week. Busy weekend ahead too and its been raining like mad over here but it was nice to wake up to clearing skies!  Supposed to clear up by later today,  fingers crossed, my white pants and strappy sandals for a tony dinner party tonight and they won’t cut it in the rain (and I don’t have a backup) so fingers crossed the sun comes out🙂

Ready to hear about my random musings?  Lets go…….

A new designer. I love her style…..this first picture that I found totally got me. Christine Godfredson is one talented gal!  I am sure you can see why she had me at this first picture …exquisite, but then I looked further and it was “wow, wow and wow”…..click here for more Christine.

Books. I do love my books so was thrilled when   I received a wonderful book in the mail sent by Charisse from Whimsical Homes and gardens…. a newer blog and a beautiful one worth checking out! She knows I love horses and art and she being an avid horsewoman was so kind to send me this amazing book, The Horse, 30,000 years of the horse in art. It is absolutely exquisite.  So thank you Charisse and for any horse/art lover out there, I cannot recommend this highly enough and tell you just how beautiful  it is!

Shazam!

How many times do you hear a song on the radio and wonder what it is?  Well, there’s an app for that …and it’s called Shazam!  Just hold  your phone up to the radio, press Shazam…and you’ll have the song and artist info in seconds. Then you can purchase the tune on iTunes or check out the concert schedule for that artist (that’s how I found out about JT’s NYC concert schedule…and yes, I’m going!!!)

Yep it’s official…love the Hamptons as much as ever!

Shop news. These are the two new oversized jars that were made for Ralph Lauren himself! I snagged 10 of each and let me tell you they are gorgeous with a capital G!

Her books literally are like a gift that keeps on giving, can’t say that about too many design books!  Betty Lou is a super duper talented designer heavy on the French accents, which is her trademark and suffice to say,  I am big fan.

Mid week musings…….

Hi, hope your week is going well. I was at the beach for a few days to visit a friend and it was a nice getaway, unexpected, which are often the best kind! The weather was a “10” but today, we are in the throes of a serious heat wave…..about 100 degrees as a heat index and high humidity, only good news is its supposed to break late Friday. I tend to wilt in this kind of weather.
?I mean I love summer, don’ t get me wrong but I love 75 -80 degrees, zero humidity, slight breeze in the air topped with a perfect sunset….now that’s my kind of summer weather! A few things to cover today…first I know everyone loves to know which rooms take the top prizes for my weekly Which would you choose. So here’s the top four from last weeks, featuring an assortment of gorgeous powder rooms. Happy that my personal faves made it to the top spots! I will show results for this weeks Which would you choose next week……

I have spoken often about all the perks and wonderful gifts that blogging has brought me, many friendships, knowledge on things that even a top school couldn’t possibly provide….really an entire world of possibilities. Its quite a phenomenon when you think about the connections you make on a daily basis with people all around the world that you would otherwise never meet. After the “Teddy ordeal’ the outpouring of support from my readers and fellow bloggers was truly just beyond, beyond what any words can fully describe.?
So, I nearly fell off my chair when one of my readers contacted me, who happens to be a painter and wanted to paint Teddy’s portrait. She was so touched by what he had gone through and felt inspired to paint him. I was touched far beyond what I can convey on this blog and eagerly awaited the Teddy portrait to arrive. What I guess i wasn’t anticipating was what a magnificent work of art I would be receiving. I was floored when I opened the most exquisite dog painting ever! And to boot, it was like I was looking at Teddy in his sweet little eyes, her ability to capture his face, his gentle and curious eyes and funny little expression is not something just any artist could do. So with her permission I am sharing with you this beautiful and treasured work of art as well as the heartfelt letter that accompanied it and you know it brought ?tears to my eyes! Best part of this for you, all you pet lovers out there, is that Mary paints on commission! I know after seeing this you will want to have your own faithful companions painted too….so her contact information is at the bottom of the Teddy painting. Ready? Feast your eyes on this……..
I couldnt’ wait to rip off the wrapping!

Seriously…how AMAZING is this!!!!!! I cannot wait to get it framed and its going to go right in our library where we can cherish it always and always. THANK YOU MARY!! ?I know many of you will want your own pet masterpiece after seeing this. ?
The talented mastermind behind this exquisite oil on canvas is Mary Casey. She does not have a website but does have lots of pictures of her work that she can send you. Mary’s email address is mcaseyart20@gmail.com.
For anyone who missed my temporary living room reveal, you can click here to get all the details how this room came to be and here’s a few pictures……

And at night…..

While out in the?Hamptons?I snapped a few pictures (though few is a relative word..lol) ?that I think speak so well as to what the Hamptons is all about, or at least what I personally love about the Hampton’s. Can there ever be too many hydrangeas? I don’t think so! So here’s a few pics from my little excursion, I always am sure to have my camera close by as there are always so many fabulous “photo ops”!
I always get carried away when taking pictures of beautiful hydrangeas…how stunning are these!

For about two hours, I experienced true perfection. Ever had a moment in life where you felt like it was “as good as it gets”? Well, this was Nirvana! I walked down the path and for what seemed like miles, I only saw one or two people in sight, just the glistening sea, acres of white sand and me and my chair! The perk was my phone doesn’t get reception so no distractions!! It was hot but I was so blessed because on this day, it felt like there was a 50 foot fan blowing and it was really breezy so I had the heat from the sun and a cold breeze on the other side of me……bliss I am telling you!

One man fishing…….
See that house? That’s “bad boy?Madoffs” old house, new owners have it now and have totally renovated it. Don’t know if I could live in a house that belonged to such an evil man!
My little beach chair waiting for me…….

And theres my son and his friend off for a jog, yes, I should have joined them but I was just way too relaxed with my magazines and my chair…..

Ahhhhh….just looking at these pictures makes me feel relaxed all over again. I am my happiest by the beach, this could be because I spent a lot of my childhood in California and Hawaii so I am a “beach girl” at heart. It is always where I feel my most relaxed, happiest and at peace. How about you? Does the beach seduce you too?
So that’s about it for today…….off to Philadelphia tomorrow for the weekend. So this is it until later Sunday or Monday as I will have limited access to my computer. Wishing you a wonderful weekend! And thank you Mary Casey again!!!!!!!

Hallelujah for the Hamptons!

Good morning! I was lucky to have spent the other day with one of my dearest friends in the world in the glorious picture perfect Hamptons. It was a very long overdue “day off” which we both needed. Despite the temperatures that hovered around 100, we had a fantastic day, it was so great to catch up and spend some quality time with each other. Some of our outdoor activities were curtailed due to the intense heat so I decided to take a bunch of pictures in our travels………. The Hamptons is one of those places that means different things to different people. Some go for the world class restaurants, some for the glitzy night life and flashy clubs, many flock to the tony country and beach clubs, some to mingle and rub elbows with celebrities (not a difficult thing to do in the Hamptons), some to stroll down the ?ritzy streets lined with every fashionsinstas must have designer boutiques, ?and last some like myself go to the Hamptons to experience the old fashioned side of the Hamptons, what it once was and still is albeit less so. Anyone who knows me knows that I always say I feel like I was born in the wrong era………..

?Make no mistake, I love many of the fabulous restaurants, enjoy going into the gorgeous stores, and won’t say no to a game of tennis at one of the fabulous clubs but the real reason I go is for the beautiful quaint still family owned farm stands….is there anything better than choosing still warm tomatoes and perfectly ripe peaches just off the vine? I go to discover the little antique shops and creaky floored bookstores still being run by the old timer whose grandfather started the business. I look for the unpopulated beaches that are quiet and calm and equate to what a perfect day means to me. I go for bike rides to the Montauk lighthouse armed with a small picnic lunch to sit on the lawn with the vast Atlantic ocean as my backdrop. I go to meet friends and family for lunch at the roadside, “lunch on a paper plate” seafood bars that dot the road in Montauk. I go to take “house tours” of the incredible “beach cottages” that dot the shore. ?Last I go to breath the ocean air, feel the coastal breeze and take in the beauty that is the Hamptons. That to me, is the ultimate getaway, a refuge to clear my head, and feel renewed and indeed I always leave there with a sense of calm and of being recharged. There truly is a Hamptons for everyone. So here are some highlights of my day, meet my Hamptons.

Have you been? If so do you have a favorite thing to do? If you haven’t been and ever get the chance…I urge you to make the trip, I promise you will find your “Hamptons” too! Enjoy your day……..
