Mayday Mayday!!!!!!!! And a moving update:)

Parts of this were written a few days ago and I added/updated this morning.

Good morning friends………..

OMG, WHY DIDNT’ YOU WARN ME?&%###!!!!!! I am EXHAUSTED after yesterday being my fourth full day of packing…….CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!!!!!!!!! I am taking a break and its only 7am! Seriously this is exhausting stuff, I mean really I am not that old, geez…..in my 40’s, I thought that’s supposed to be considered…. dare I say, young! Then why am I sooooooooo tired! OK, deep breaths, I told myself I will work until midday,  take a one hour break to futz around on the comp, have lunch, coffee then get back to work. So heres the latest…..

When it rains it pours, right? Literally and figuratively. My husband has been sick, not the regressing little boy who needs attention and wants to pretend he is sick that all men become at the first sniffle….I am talking coughing, more congested than the Midtown tunnel at rush hour, and feeling really lousy. And it was pouring cats and dogs big time on Thursday (original intended day of moving). POURING. So…I am just rolling with the punches as they say, island marble got delivered in the pouring monsoon rain today…big giant monstrous deep breaths being held until that 13 footer got put in its place.

It practically took a village to carry that behemoth in, I didn’t want to be there and left! BUT boy was it worth the wait. Pure love. Yesterday, first small batch of furniture got moved in….yippee!! Another round of heavy cleaning yesterday and part of today and more furniture getting moved in later this afternoon. The point is we are here, we are on the cusp of being home at last. At this point I am pouring myself  another cup of coffee and saying “its all good”, going with it, ya know? The good news and silver lining you ask? Well let me tell you…….

See exhibit A, the mounting extra large black garbage bags filled to the brim of what I have no idea, so much junk, excess, baloney, stuff that was taking up cubic feet and air. Why? Good question! But its goodbye and good riddens, so happy to get rid of the stuff that was lurking. There are boxes and boxes and bags and bags of everything all over the place…its almost suffocating! I have tables and tables of plants, and accessories and such all over, it looks like a warehouse or a place closing up shop….which in a way it is. Jealous? I didn’t think so! I do however have a very hard time for whatever reason getting rid of my shoes and my bags. Anyone with me?

And the pack up begins……..
Boxes and bags everywhere……..
Finding a long lost pair of cute flats that happen to work amazingly with my favorite camel bag was super exciting
Everything had to be thrown, literally into one big closet since all the others are being painted

Shoes and bags everywhere!
More bags…….
Starting to get sorted and packed
Tons of accessories all laid out, deciding what to keep and what goes….
Yay, its finally all getting put into boxes!!

Exhibit B. is a little more interesting and depressing. First, you see I thought my niece left her Barbie’s clothes at my house then I realized at second glance they were my clothes from clearly another life. All of these got neatly folded packed up and put into a number of bags to be given and dropped off to people who will actually be able to use them. I know I will never be wearing that size 4 silver lame party dress dress ever again:(

Exhibit C. is my absolute favorite because its my “pot at the end of the rainbow”, when I come up for air,  that is what I have to look forward to and I can hardly wait. I just keep channeling deep thoughts about what lies ahead and keep repeating to myself “just follow the yellow brick road” (in this case the road from house A. to house B, the new house) and that is what I am doing, mustering all that positive energy towards my light at the end of the tunnel…….

My beloved stove
My gorgeous floors in the kitchen

Finished floors in living room……..
And dining……
My beautiful bathroom!
Hubby’s gorgeous bathroom…..all done! (except for window treament and knobs)
The first pieces that got delivered for the guest room…a beautiful pair of French nightstands

Guest bath all done……put the shades on the sconces

This is the hardware, just waiting for rest to come in!

Both sonces in husbands bath..its a love for me!

OK this is where I need to hear some opinions..this is a beautiful chest from the Newport collection from EJ Victor that we were considering using as a vanity for powder room, I think its beautiful but somehow I am feeling a darker simpler wood piece, thoughts? (You know I love to hear from you)!!

Back/kitchen powder room done (except for wallpaper and mirror)

Oldest sons bath

Oldest sons bedroom getting put in…..he likes a more modern feel and this came from his apt. in NYC, he is in the process of moving to new apt. so will be home for a few months

My chandy got put into the dressing room! Love it..the shades add a lot. Do not pay attention to the “countertop”its a temporary until I decide what to do.

Bath faucet finally got installed!
Completed tub….ready for a bubble bath, waiting for my rock crystal sconces which are backordered until February…worth the wait though!
They will go in that little black spot on the wall, and between them will be mirror

Husbands vanity, except knobs..coming in next week

So there you have it, the before, the during and whats to come in the after. I am really liking the after!
And finally when I do take my much needed coffee breaks (and they are happening often, plus its a great excuse to escape to blogland), I feel like a queen (didn’t say I look like one) when I drink out of this wonderful mug….a good friend gave it to me for my birthday and its become my absolute favorite! Isn’t it great?

I will be back in touch again sometime next week with updates in between my awesome guest posts coming your way soon. Enjoy your day!

MOST RECENT MOVING UPDATE…..we will continue “the big clean up’ until Monday, then finish up odds and ends being done on Tues. and start REALLY moving on Wed, Thurs. and Friday.
So fingers crossed we will be “home” at last on one of those nights! Will keep you posted.

Back to work, wishing you a wonderful and relaxing Sunday….XO Tina

Things I am loving Thursday and house updates!!

Good morning everyone!  Oh boy, loooong week here, patience wearing thin. Haven’t done much of anything that isn’t somehow house related (but some exciting things nonetheless) and I thought this was going to be a shorter post than usual but as it turns out ironically its turning out to be a lengthier post than usual..so hope you have a few extra minutes on your hands, to sit back and relax for a few! Also I got a lot of questions regarding sconces, cabinet colors, etc….am getting that information for you together and will hopefully post answers on Saturday.

Anywho, things are buttoning up, and we really might be able to move in by Thanksgiving. By the skin of our teeth. In sleeping bags. Just kidding about the sleeping bags part. I am hoping, crossing my fingers and my toes and very much counting on it, but its cautious optimism at this point my friends and could go either way. So first results from our weekly “Which would you choose” then house updates and then a few other goodies. Not a lot of goodies, mind you as I really haven’t had a lot of opportunity to do much that isn’t house related but I am not complaining!

Here are the results of this weeks “Which would you choose”……must say like many of you indicated, I was really torn between a few, and happy that 2 of my tops made it into the finalist rounds!
Here we go……

                                            1st place with a whopping 51 votes

2nd place tied with 40 votes a piece
3rd place with 26 votes
4th place wtih 16 votes
Now onto this weeks post…..

HOUSE UPDATES. We are making big progress, yes I know I have been saying this for a loooooooong time now. Believe no one feels how long its been more than me! But at last I really am starting to see a light at the end of a tunnel here. Carpeting is getting installed today! Doorknobs got put in late yesterday and look fabby. I cannot wait to have an “unwrapping and cleaning party”. Never will housework look like and be so incredibly joyful as it will that fine day.
Everything we have done is pretty much all covered up with paper, special cardboard (our builder is very meticulous) the only downside is all the beauty is well covered up and frankly I am a little tired of seeing all that paper!  A big development was the installation of the floor in the tower…LOVE is the only word that comes to mind, I really am thrilled with how it came out.
I just want to rip it all off and stare and marvel at all we have done. In due time, I know. To some including my husband who thinks I am delirious it might seem crazy, but I still want to be in there right before Thanksgiving. Yes, the whole house will not be done, yes there will still be lots of work going on and yes it will be a major pain that no doubt I well curse myself for at least a few dozen times BUT at least I will be home. That’s how I look at this…I am ready, have been ready and just about reached my threshold. Got there pretty late so the outside pics for lack of a better word are pretty pathetic, but you get the idea…..

Front entrance making headway, it was just about dark by the time I got there…

The long awaited entry/tower floor!!!!!!!!!!
Love it…..

Samples for backsplash for kitchen, its a yes! FINALLY!

Family room timbering all done, first coat of paint is starting

Faucets are in …….
Ceiling is done in kitchen….one more thing done there!
Sons bathroom and vanity with sconces

Other sons bathroom and sconces

Youngest sons bathroom and sconces

AMAZING DEALS AND STEALS  ON FURNITURE. Who doesn’t love a bargain? Well I for one LOVE getting a deal and I hit the jackpot over at Safavieh’s warehouse sale!! It officially begins this weekend in Port Washington, NY but we were able to go over ( a small group of us for a preview) as one of my friends was buying things for her daughter who lives out of town and she scored big time and of course I found a few goodies too!  Its in their monster of a warehouse, something like 150,000 sq feet and feels like an airport hanger!!! Its HUGE and chock full of the best deals I have ever seen of furniture, lighting, accessories, paintings, antiques, etc….its endless!!!!!! If you happen to leave within driving distance and want info click here.  Here is the lowdown…….

How about this gorgeous chaise for $695!!!!!!!!! Got it for my sitting room and going to recover it in a fabric that works for my bedroom thought this velvet is mighty pretty…..
And this settee for $695!!!! I am brainstorming as to where I could put this!
Bought this as an extra chest for somewhere, maybe guest room for $700!
My friend got this beautiful Belgian inspired set including 4 chairs for $1300!!

This beautiful black French end tables…were around 400!
Thought this was very pretty for a kitchen, my friend bought it for her breakfast room

I got this English center table for our living room, its very substantial and gorgeous!
Love what they put on all their boxes….and boy are they ever right!
Isn’t this a great looking little chair for a ladies desk? I bought one for $295!!

These two tables and chairs were so increidbly reasonable! I love the Belgian/European feeling…..great for a beach house, don’t you think?

They got in a container of beautiful rustic Brazilian antiques that were gorgeous
It went on for what looked like MILES…….
Loved these small elegant end and coffee tables, the workmanship was incredible!
Stunning rug!
Theres my table again…..its a real stunner in person.

I bought this French chandelier to the left, isn’t it pretty?

My other friend bought this for her daughters first new home (shes a newlywed) for $375!
I love this scalloped chest and am debating on it for the family room
Close up of the other chest
Isn’t this antique pair of 12 foot antique Brazilian doors just grand?

POSSIBLE SLABS FOR MY ISLAND. So….my good buddy and I made a day trip and drove upstate to CT. and saw two slabs that actually work really nicely with my kitchen and current countertops. Only problem is that this company is also a fabricator and they want to do the job whereas we have already contracted a local person to fabricate the entire house. So..now we are trying to work this out. This is the first marble I have seen that works so I am excited but only if we can work out a deal. I am hoping, here are the pics, if you look carefully you will see a small piece of marble being held up next to them,  that’s a piece from my countertops…what do you think? Feel free to weigh in…….its a really good match, the veining is very nice but not overpowering as some are. I don’t want it to take away from other things going on in the kitchen. Fingers crossed. Anyone who has shopped for stone I know understands what this is all about…….

So here’s the match, the small piece at right is my current coutertops

ONE HECK OF A DELICIOUS DINNER. OK I loved feeling like I was Mario Batali, actually on second though lets go with Giada, yeah I think I like feeling and looking like Giada better:) So Tiffany over at Savor Home,(awesome blog by the way that I  newly discovered)  posted her ridiculously professionally looking pictures of this dish for a contest and shared the recipe. I was so inspired that I made it that very night. Well……Let me tell you in four words….OUT OF THIS WORLD.
It was not difficult, and it was soooooooooo good. The key is getting really good clams, I was lucky we have a fabulous seafood shop not too far who caters to all the restaurants in the area and they get the good Manila clams (vongele) and I cannot tell you how delicious this was. Not a drop left!! Sharing the recipe with you, its a “must make” kind of recipe. You owe it to yourself and to your family to do “the right thing” 🙂 So I am using Tiffany’s amazing picture..because we all know there is no way I could take one that could look that good!  Recipe to follow…..

Spaghetti with clams

  • 1 pound dried spaghetti
  • 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 shallots thinly sliced
  • 5 to 7 cloves garlic finely chopped
  • 2 1/2 pounds Manila clams, scrubbed clean
  • 1/2 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1/2 cup dry white wine
  • 2 tablespoons butter, diced into small cubes
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 lemon, zested, for garnish
Directions
In a large pot, bring to a boil 6 quarts of salted water. Add pasta, stirring constantly in the beginning to prevent it from sticking together. Cook until al dente about 8 minutes.
Meanwhile, heat the olive oil in a large saute pan. When almost smoking, add shallots and garlic and saute until soft and translucent, about 3 to 4 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic. Add the clams and wine. Cover and simmer for 6 to 8 minutes or until most clams have opened.
Add 2 tablespoons chopped parsley. Whisk in butter to thicken sauce slightly.
Drain pasta in a colander. Do not rinse pasta with water – this will remove the pasta’s natural starches. Place pasta into the clam saute pan and mix thoroughly. Check seasoning.
Pour pasta into large serving bowl. Zest lemon over the dish, being careful not to zest the white part of the lemon, which is bitter. Garnish with remaining parsley. Serve immediately and be sure to save an extra helping for yourself (Giada would not say that she would say make sure your guests have plenty first but when you see how good it is you will see why my advice trumps hers)

A REALLY GREAT HOLD EVERYTHING TOTE BAG. Got an amazing tote bag that literally holds just about everything but the kitchen sink, I kid you not. In addition to being super utilitarian it is also quite good looking and HUGE, and this particular tote comes in 19 spiffy fabrics, something for everyone!! This bag is one of their bestsellers and is called the original Deano tote and is literally indestructible, I kid you not!  I love this company, Scout totes from Bungalow Co. and in case you are not familiar with their awesome line of products they offer everything from amazing totes, to bins, coolers, luggage and fabulous goodies for babies and kids too…all in super chic fabrics. Marble rocks!

Good morning! OK, if you have been coming here for any period of time you know I LOVE marble, especially white marble…ahhhhh, so beautiful! I have gotten so many emails from people either contemplating on using marble or people who want to down the road but the fear of God has been placed in them about doing so. I personally always say for me there was/is no second choice. I would rather have cardboard than anything else but marble. It is so rich, elegant and timeless.

I always go back to how it is used in Europe…it is EVERYWHERE. In every pizzeria, every fine restaurants kitchen countertops, in small bakeries and cafes, on building steps for Petes sake, in virtually every hotel lobby and bathroom…..I mean everywhere you look, there is marble! Marble that has been there many many years. What does that tell you? Tells me a lot. In my old house where we lived for seven years, I had Carerra on my countertops, did it have a random nick or small imperfection here or there? Of course, did I love it any less….NO! In fact I loved how that added to the character of the stone, gave it that worn patina and there literally wasn’t a day that I walked into my kitchen that I didn’t marvel at how beautiful it looked. So clearly my love for marble is strong, unwavering and here to stay! Today a look at marble and why it rocks!

Prime example of white marble’s beauty in the kitchen, love it on the coutertops and going all the way up in subways…..perfection! Collection 17
Beautiful mini subway bricks adorn this fabulous backsplash
Nothing like a long stretch of scrumptious white marble…love it! Peter Pennoyer
Look familiar?
Since its covered up now, this gives me another chance to enjoy it!
No its not a carpet, its inlaid marble! New Ravenna
A set of very old white marble steps in Umbria, Italy
Beautiful inlaid marble mosaic backsplash….New Ravenna
Never met a white marble sink I didn’t love! Massucco Warner Miller
Love the mile long bar at Eastern Standard (we always go when in Boston) of Calcutta Gold! (and you just know lots of red wine is being poured on that baby)
Stunning, the way this honed tumbled white carerra marble is used for the vanity area and tub, Veranda.
You can never have enough….case in point is this bathroom!
Just want to point out the WHITE CARERRA MARBLE TOPPED tables being used in this restaurant
Why not use the whole block? Talk about creating drama! David Powell
Love how an entire slab was used for this backsplash and island…fabulous!
A gorgeous white carerra marble bar in Todd English’s Food Plaza..case in point, it works!!
Nothing like a huge slab of thick gorgeous white marble to top an island!
Check out this vine detailing all in marble by none other than New Ravenna!
Love this bar smothered in delicious white marble!!
Beautiful sink and flooring in white marble…Gast
Fountains meant to brave the outdoor elements are made in marble! New Ravenna
And how about this wonderful candy bar in Atlanta? Yep, white marble countertops and white marble topped tables!!
Perhaps the ultimate indulgence in marble, a sumptuous bath tub!!
So what do you think? Are you already a fan of marble? Do you have it or would you use it? Would love to know!! Wishing everyone a happy Sunday!

Things I am loving Thursdays and House updates!

Good morning…….wow the days are passing me by fast and furious! Today I start as I do every week now with house updates. Things are moving along and we are most definitely making serious progress but there are days (and weeks) that I go and no matter how much we have done, all I seem to see is how much more there is left to be done. It is daunting, overwhelming and at times downright depressing because you have to know that originally I was hoping to have moved in the spring. I know many of you right this minute behind your computer screens,  are probably rolling your eyes thinking “don’t  you know woman how construction has its own clock” and the answer is of course I do,  but I really thought moving in late spring was a true and realistic possibility. Now if we get to move in late June or July I will thank my lucky stars. So now I have turned into a tyrant  gotten a little more involved by taking over some of the orchestration of various trades and wearing my “assertive hat” in dealing with certain people to make sure this ball is rolling just as fast as humanly possible. With that said, you will see some major progress has been had, so its not all gloom and doom. Then I follow with some fun eye candy of some of the things I am loving this week!

HOUSE UPDATES. The foyer floor is nearly done…just love the way it came out. We used a honed French limestone, a very quiet clean limestone with black stone “dots” and border. I think it came out beautifully. The wood floors are done upstairs, that’s a major accomplishment as is most of the trim on the second floor. The plumbing has started to get installed in the upstairs bathrooms so upstairs we really truly are down to the end, we even had the carpet installer come to take measurements so I could order carpeting and we spoke to a few painters. Downstairs things continue to move along but the finishing involved downstairs will take much longer, however the breakfast room paneling is near done, now we have to work on various stain samples, so below are some pictures of recent updates.

Foyer floor getting done!

Breakfast room bay is done at last!
Paneling is nearly done in this room….
Paneled doorways, now we just need to pick stain color
Love the way it came out
This wall is all done
Window bay is done
Putting the finishing touches on this wall

Floors in main foyer are getting done this week!

New round of “antiqued beams” getting worked on for family room and mahogany doors came in for downstairs

Wood flooring 95% done upstairs

Casing around doors and windows just about done upstairs…finally!

Black island and outer cabinet color
Limestone samples from which to choose for the limestone hood

WROUGHT IRON SCONCES. Since I have been scouring the market for sconces for the outside of the house, I have found many beauties. Though we have not made a final decision some of the contenders are below. Do you have a clear cut favorite?
GETAWAY. I love to include a getaway/vacation in some of my weekly posts because I am really craving one right now MORE THAN EVER and also because I really love to vacation and could happily go on one monthly..lol. We are hoping to go away as we always do this winter and are hoping to go to Turks and Caicos. If we do we are deciding between the Regent Palms and The Gansevoort, there is no bad or wrong decision here, mind you. Both incredibly gorgeous. I will not complain whichever we decide. In fact at this point, put me in a tent on a beach and you won’t hear a peep:)
THE REGENT PALMS

THE GANSEVOORT

JACK ROGERS SANDALS. I have been wearing Jack Rogers sandals for a long long time, have owned them in dozens of colors, besides them being very comfortable, they happen to be very cute looking. Now they come in this great looking monogrammed style and I don’t need to tell you how I feel about monograms. So I was very excited about this style and just ordered them in two colors. Aren’t they adorable? I wear these literally all summer and they are a part of my “summer wardrobe”. Tres cute and again comfort is very key to me. Click here to order yourself a pair.
HAYMARKET DESIGNS. I love this line. Discovered them about a year ago. Have since ordered from them a few times not only for myself but for gifts too. Just a great looking line, not too expensive and fun cute patterns. They make different sized serving trays monogrammed or not, frames, wastebaskets, and tissue boxes. Makes a very cute housewarming gift. They also do custom orders. Click here to see more.

ST. HELENA OLIVE OIL COMPANY. When we were in Napa Valley last year (and I fell madly in love with everything around me) I discovered this wonderful little company. OK, I will be big enough to admit you put the word “Napa” in something and yes I will say its good.  I am in love with the place. But this is a very nice line of products, good quality stuff. AND I love to cook, so I do know my olive oils and seasonings and sauces! They have all kinds of wonderful farm to table products and I was thrilled to know I could still continue to order from them even though I live on the other coast. They have a great line of products, and I can only speak to the ones I have tried but of the ones I have tried, I really have enjoyed them! Click here to see more.

THE NEW GORGEOUS RALPH LAUREN RUG LINE. I am so excited about the new highly anticipated collection of Ralph Lauren rugs coming out this summer/fall being produced and launched by Safavieh, weavers of the most beautiful rugs in the world. As with all things Ralph does, this line promises to be nothing short of outrageously beautiful, below is a tidbit of whats to come, love the bold geometric rugs all inspired by antique Persian designs in rich vegetable dyed colors…exquisite!! Visit Safavieh here to see more of their incredible rugs. They produce some incredible lines already by some of your favorite designers, including Thomas OBrien, David Easton, Martha Stewart, Suzanne Kasler, Jamie Drake and ..Thom Filicia so Ralph was a natural addition to this amazing lineup of talent! Can’t wait!
MY MARBLE SLABS ARE COMING! So excited to have gotten these yesterday. Unless you happen to be in the field for marble at this moment, this might not excite you too much, but if you are then you will have an immense appreciation for how beautiful these blocks of Calacutta are. These are going to be for the outer perimeter of the kitchen, I am so happy with them..they are exactly what I was looking for.

VAGABOND HOUSE. Great line, that I discovered a few years ago. Their gorgeous serving pieces are made of pewter, antler and reclaimed woods. Love their line and own several of their serving pieces,  always treat myself to something new around Christmas time and occasionally when I just have to have a piece here or there to add to my growing collection. They really are just stunning and are just so pretty to display as well! The carving trays are gorgeous (I have the first one) around the holidays and makes any turkey look beautiful!  Makes a very special gift and these are truly heirloom quality products. Click here to see more.

Well, this is all this post would allow me to share since Blogger- no surprise here- is having problems again….whats going on? Its frustrating to say the least! I have gotten emails from people telling me they were unable to leave comments, complaining about their own inability to write posts, I know of my own frustrations in recent weeks. So hoping its not a sign of things to come and that they have things under control and will be able to manage it and nip what “it” is and be done with it once and for all! Us bloggers have a lot of work to do and don’t need the extra work! In any case, wishing you a happy and stress free Thursday!

Things I am loving Thursdays and house update!

Hi I am so happy its Thursday. I have to confess Thursdays are fast becoming my favorite blogging day because it gives me a chance to discuss my favorite things of the week. I like to begin with house updates because lots of things are happening literally every day. So I start with some updates, a lot of wood floor pictures, the guys did an outstanding job, I have to say really amazing workmanship. Ditto for all the casings around the windows and doors, really heavy duty, so we are really really pleased with the trim and flooring thus far. The cabinetry guy is working hard on the breakfast room and soon will be starting the family room and back stairhall. It is extremely exciting and gratifying to see the hard work pay off! So here are some pictures I recently took followed by things I am loving this week.

HOUSE UPDATES. Well, wood flooring is nearly done upstairs. They have the tiniest little finishes to do but otherwise are done and I must say they did a fabulous job. Ditto with the trim as you will see below. It was a very exciting moment for me to tape up a wallpaper sample on the wall of the back powder room to see it against the completed marble and do a premature visual of the first completed albeit  small completed room, and it was beyond exhilarating!! First round of beams went up in breakfast room. When I took these pictures it was a virtual monsoon outside…raining cats and dogs…so some of the colors in the pictures is a bit off since I think I overcompensated by using too bright a flash, but you get the idea and yes alas it is starting to really resemble a house….exciting stuff!

First round going up…..
First round of beams in…they are not as dark as they look here

Casings around windows completed
Doors to hubby’s bath

Looking down from 2nd floor going all the way down to the basement……
Doors to my bathroom..at last they are on!
First stretch of baseboards and plinth blocks at base of trim around doors!

BELGIAN BLUESTONE. I am on the hunt for this stone as I love the look. I would like to use this in my laundry room as its one of the few materials that I think will look great off of the reclaimed limestone in the mudroom. If I cannot get more of the reclaimed stone in time (which we will find out this week) to complete my laundry room I am going to go with this look. I love the old world look and love the drama of the black….. What do you think?

ANTIQUED MIRROR. Always liked it but now its bordering on an obsession and I just know I am going to be using lots of it in the new house. Love it in a dressing area, in a bar, for a butlers pantry, in a powder room, for sconces, I could go on and on. But here are a few wonderful ways how antiqued mirror looks quite beautiful!

Love the idea of inset panels with antique mirror
A stunning mirrored Provence planter…..
Rena Abott’s living room
Bunny Williams covered an entire wall in antique mirror
Love an oversized piece with the rosettes…..
I love this idea for a ladies dressing area….so elegant!
WORLDS AWAY MIRRORS. I love the mirrors by Worlds Away, think they would be great above a vanity for a guest room or powder room vanity. They have the antiqued mirror that I love so much too, what do you think? I love the geometric frames, they are so pretty! Click here to see more of their great collection. I also just learned they now have a blog!! So happy about that, so click here to follow them and get the latest on their fabulous line…..
KATE SPADE STRIKES AGAIN. I used to really like Kate Spade (not so much the bags but her other accessories) then fell out of love with the line. Well shes back and looking better than ever! The line is a modern day take on fresh, crisp modern feminine dressing and the clothing line is looking pretty snazzy as well, along the lines of Milly if you like that look. I am especially loving a bunch of her fun jewelry pieces……check them out!
Love this..the sea glass twisted statement choker, colors AMAZING!

The “bamboolized” necklace..great looking

Love the bibb necklace too..such a great piece for chic summer dressing
I am loving this wicker bracelet in both colors!
RALPH LAURENS NEW RESTAURANT IN PARIS. Just in case you are heading to Paris this weekend and by all means feel free to invite me if you want to, I will be happy to clear my calendar! You may want to book a table at the very chic and very quintessential “Ralph’s” by Ralph Lauren! Apparently the menu is old school American, shrimp cocktail, steaks, crabcakes, hamburgers, fried chicken…and the French are eating it up literally and figuratively! Does this guy do anything wrong? NO! How gorgeous is this restaurant? No surprise!!

MONOGRAMS. You know I love them! Here is another fun line that makes these adorable pillows, very customized with a variety of monograms and fabrics to choose from…. Luxury monograms does it all, from pillows to napkins and place mats and even tote bags. A pair of these fun pillows would be great on a bed, on a chair, on a love seat, can see them on outdoor chaise lounges…the possibilities are endless! Click here to visit their site.

OK OK, I know what you are thinking, does this girl sit around her house all day eating designer cookies…whats up with her obession with outrageously cute cookies? No, I don’t eat them, just admire them (I WISH I sat around eating these little edible cuties) and yes, I am obsessed with adorable cookies. And Rolling Pin productions does makes some of the cutest most creative ones I have seen. I am just racking my brain to think of an occasion so I can order some! A friends upcoming 50th birthday…you know who you are! Another friends daughters baby shower…and yes you know you who are too!  Check out their amazing work. Click here to find out more about what they can do for you and your special occasion.

If you are having a Halloween party
All their adorable pet cookies…

A sampling of all the celeb cookies they have done…

They can take a picture and turn it into a cookie! Love it….
NEW FABRIC CRUSH. Palace Garden…funny story. I had seen this last year. Fell in love, put it in my inspiration file only to misplace the name. Went on a frantic search but that’s like looking for a needle in haystack, so it along with a thousand other things got shuffled back to the end of my seemingly endless “to do” list and lo and behold the other day while doing one of my countless Internet searches I found it on someones blog post, and was so thankful!! I wrote the blogger who promptly wrote me back saying that my note to her had made her think that maybe she will start blogging again (she hadn’t posted in almost a year),  see there are no accidents in life!! Happy ending for us both. So now a sample of Palace Garden is on its way to me and I am in the meantime brainstorming as to where I might use this lovely print. Where do you see it? Any ideas from all you talented style mavens out there? I love the pattern, the colors..everything about it, it has the browns, the blues, a touch of dark green, bottom line is its PERFECT!
A HUNK OF BURNING PERFECT MARBLE. Wow oh wow…is this gorgeous or what? Our marble guy just sent us these photos of the huge blocks of the Calacutta Gold they are going to be getting from which we will be getting our slabs. They are gorgeous..exactly what I had in mind….lots of white, soft subtle veining, just the right amount of gray and gold veining, if it is possible to be madly in love with a piece of marble, than I am!!

TEDDY! After the scare he put us through on Mothers day, and after I have had a full week to get over my anger and decompress a bit, and now that he is off restriction (lol)  one major thing I am loving this week is Teddy  He is a great dog, such a loving, sweet, kind and gentle “giant” ..he deserves a “shout out” to borrow a word from my sons vocabulary (yes he would cringe if he was reading this) but nonetheless, Teddy this ones for you!

Well that’s what I am loving this week..plenty to love! Would love to know if there is something special that you have discovered or that you are really excited about and want to share! Hope you have a fabulous Thursday!

I used to really like Kate Spade (not so much the bags but her other accessories) then fell out of love with?the line.

No, I don’t eat them, just admire them (I WISH I sat around eating these little edible cuties) and yes, I?am obsessed with adorable cookies. And Rolling Pin productions does makes some of the cutest most creative ones I have seen. I am just racking my brain to think of an occasion so I can order some! A friends upcoming 50th birthday…you know who you are! Another friends daughters baby shower…and yes you know you who are too! ?Check out their amazing work. I wrote the blogger who promptly wrote me back saying that my note to her had made her think that maybe she will start blogging again (she hadn’t posted in almost a year), ?see there are no accidents in life!!

TEDDY! After the scare he put us through on Mothers day, and after I have had a full week to get over my anger and decompress a bit, and now that he is off restriction (lol) ?one major thing I am loving this week is Teddy ?He is a great dog, such a loving, sweet, kind and gentle “giant” ..he deserves a “shout out” to borrow a word from my sons vocabulary (yes he would cringe if he was reading this) but nonetheless, Teddy this ones for you!

Well that’s what I am loving this week..plenty to love! Would love to know if there is something special that you have discovered or that you are really excited about and want to share! Hope you have a fabulous Thursday!
