Late week random musings……

Hello. Hope you are having a great week, mine was spiffy and so busy (the steals and deals kept me on my toes all week)…..so crazy how everywhere I turn I am seeing something having to do with Thanksgiving or Christmas! It feels like suddenly the accelerator has been pressed and things are in fast forward…..I almost get dizzy thinking of what needs to get done but am determined to hopefully wrap it all up by the first week of December, because normally mid December I am ready and quite eligible for the local asylum:) All that aside, I DO love the holidays and all that goes along with it, giving, the foods, the weather, the decorating, wrapping gifts, holiday clothes, etc…….but I like when I can really savor and enjoy it, and that only happens when I am organized and stay on task so today is not a day too soon to start the planning!

Before I get started I announced the winner of the mega jackpot skincare from Avery Graham. Unfortunately the winner has not stepped up so I am giving it one more shot. If I have not heard back by Sunday morning, a new winner will be chosen. So Debra….time is ticking! Step right up to claim your prize!

Pink Opulance, opulence eye cream as well as the eye make-up remover that would be a good start to get me on track!
Thanks for the giveaway and insightful information

Anywho, moving along here is what’s new in my world……(all pics taken with iPhone as my camera was not charged)

MY HOUSE. I have some projects in the works. Got my first strikeoff for the dining room of the chinoiserie and while it’s definitely not right it does affirm my decision that this is the way to go and once we get the colors down, its going to be nothing short of spectacular. SO we are back to round 2 and think we are a lot closer now in terms of the colors we are using…cannot wait and of course will share! It is a definite labor of love but oh so worth it!

?The large sample though way too yellow…love the pattern, let the tweaking begin!

?Another smaller sample from long ago, as you can see the background is way off from the rug but you have to start somewhere!

?So my trusty little Benjamin Moore color cards have been making many visits to the dining room!

?And at long last, I have chosen colors for the next sample……fingers crossed!

My bedroom is also finally coming together.? Used this gorgeous cream and blue silk for my closet/sitting area and was waiting till it went up to decided if I would use it for the bedroom and indeed I am, I just love it. Its so soft and pretty and quiet just as I wanted it to be. I have been working hard to find carpeting, its a very large space so the challenge ironically hasnt’ been finding a carpet I like but finding one they have enough of. I have found the mills do not stock carpet the way they used to…sign of the times. So this is the one I can get the most of, it will mean not putting carpeting in my closet and small office, but having it in the sitting area and bedroom which really are most important anyway. So think this is the one and about to pull the trigger…woo hoo!

?It all started with this gorgeous paper from Stark (now discontinued, but available by custom order)

?So after months and months of thinking and looking (more thinking than looking) I found a carpet with just the right cream and just the right soft dusty blue

?And went back to the original trim from Clarence House that I am madly in love with!

?And the gorgeous cream and blue silk…….
?Carpeting
Ready to see the fabric in my sitting room/closet? Love it!

?Pay zero attention the that chair (my first big girl purchase at 22 from Century) still a great chair but am going to reupholster it and the tattered Scalamandre pillow (20 years and going strong) but wrong colors, etc……

?Another carpet that was lovely from Stark but it was too green, not blue enough…..

?Still love this linen, will do some pillows or something in this for sure

?Amazing how often we go back to our original choices…..that was the case with me and I am thrilled.

A GREAT FILM. I like movies of all kinds and I watched one somewhat documentary called “Red Obsession” which is about the soaring prices and unparallelled demand for the famed Bordeaux wines, and of course who is their number one consumer? The Chinese….it is totally fascinating and if this remotely interests you then I would highly recommend it. I know its available on Movies on Demand and I believe Netflix. Here is a sneak peek…..

GREENWICH, CT. I love this place! 15 years ago we had a deal on a house there that turned out to have some serious structural issues and we looked at it as a chance to reconsider and ended up staying on Long Island closer to family. However many many times I have thought and still think this is one of most beautiful places to live. I love Greenwich and if you ever the chance to visit, you absolutely should!! Went to a great restaurant Harvest (thanks Sandy from You may be wandering)? where I had the best shaved Brussels sprouts salad EVER. Then we went into some of our favorite shops including Rinfret (always a fave), here is a recap……

?Yes it really was THAT good!!!!!!!

?Isn’t this charming? I couldn’t resist taking pictures, they always do such a beautiful job…..

?Saw this beautiful very large ginger jar at Two’s Company and my blue and white radar went on high alert!

These next photos are all from Rinfret, which is all decked out for the holidays, its was so festive and beautiful……

GOOD FOOD. You know this is a favorite subject of mine! So two things to talk about. The first I was inspired to find, after eating that out of this world brussels sprout salad and I found one that seems to be very very close from The Divine Addiction. I am trying it this week and will let you know. In case you are interested…..click here for recipe.

Second one is something I tried and LOVED. Worth sharing…trust me on this. One subject I consider myself to be an expert on is food:) If you like puff pastry, mushrooms and Gruyere then you must give this a shot (I also add Parmesan) You can make one big one or cut them into squares as appetizers…..yum! Click here for recipe.

AN INTERESTING VIDEO. You might have thought of this, maybe not. What kind of mother are you? How would you describe yourself as a mother to your kids? How do you think your kids might describe you? This video is worth a look, it is so telling and so touching and makes me wonder how my kids would answer it. Really got me thinking.? Click here to see.

BABY LIGHT MY FIRE. This is for lovely Anita of Castles Crowns and Cottages. She had asked if we had lit the fireplace outside and if we did to please share a picture. Well Anita, this ones for you……wish you were here to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with me!

NEW CONTEST! The blue and white love was such a huge success that I am continuing on with another contest. The new theme is “Hooray for the Holidays“. I am accepting pictures for anything having to do with the holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas) up until Dec. 4th. I will run the contest through Dec. 8th and announce a winner on Monday, Dec.9th.

No rules…however you interpret “Hooray for the Holidays”. Could be a favorite meal, your home all decked out, your Thanksgiving table, a pet or child showing their spirit, etc…..I know I am in for a treat, your talents and inspirations always blow me away. Same rules, two pictures per entrant, you must put Hooray for the Holidays in the subject line of your email (I get a ton of email and dont’ want it lost in the shuffle).

Email me your pictures to theenchantedhome@gmail.com. Thank in advance for entering, you have a little over 2 weeks to send them in! I will also hold a Christmas themed contest in early Jan so get those cameras ready! Some ideas…..

SHOP NEWS. I have been really busy with my little shop. I was excited to help someone with 20 ginger jars for her daughters wedding, she promised to send pictures, I can’t wait! I also have some lighting that was custom done that went in which I will also share. I love nothing more than when customers send me pictures of their completed projects.

I am going to be doing a post in the next week? about various holiday gifts/promotions in? my shop as well as deadlines, because time is ticking!? I am also going to “close shop” for about a week before Christmas. The last day to place orders will be Dec. 14th until after Christmas. In the upcoming post I will also let you know about deadlines for things like monogrammed items, custom napkin rings,etc…..

On my recent steals and deals, I really hit the jackpot. I was lucky enough to have bought a large lot of truly exquisite items from a manufacturer who is restructuring and moving down south. His loss is my gain (and yours)! I have sold the bulk of it but still have about 10-12 boxes to unpack so who knows what’s in them! It’s like a treasure hunt with guaranteed treasure:) I am trying to move through them quickly to ideally get everything up, sold and shipped before Thanksgiving. I will post the newest finds sometime next week……

FINALLY,? as much fun as it is to talk about the fluff and fun of the things we love most……I must speak about the horrific events happening in the Philippines. The devastation is truly unimaginable. My heart breaks for all those affected. The rebuilding effort is going to take a very long time. But right now the focus is on the people and treating the hundreds of thousands who are injured, without food and water, shelter…people who have lost their families and everything they ever owned.
I always like to to help out in whatever small way I can, my only requirement is I want to know my donation is going 100% to the actual relief effort and not to cover administration coats!

http://www.directrelief.org/

I have given through AmeriCares? (who is also a non profit and a wonderful organization too) and thanks to Emily of Splendid Market, I also found out about Direct Relief, whose mission as a non profit organization is to provide medical relief around the world. That is the main focus for the many victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Click here to find out more about them. There is no amount too small, every dollar can make a difference. I hope you will consider donating.

Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you have a wonderful and productive day! I enjoyed putting this post together and really enjoyed being all over the map with my random musings…missed these posts! I think the theme for November (for me at least) will be productivity. I want to get as much done before the Christmas crunch this month as I possibly can. Is there such thing as a relaxing December? Hummmmmm……..I will get back to you on that:)

Late week musings and a winner!

Hello! First let me announce a lucky winner for the tole planter. Congratulations goes to-

Result: 10 Anonymous August 16, 2013 at 7:32 PM As a tole collector and lover, it’s almost impossible to choose! But, I would have to choose the pair of green lamps. Beautiful, and would be perfect in our master bedroom. Thanks! Debra Taylor/debra@theassumptions.com

Please contact me here to claim your prize and provide shipping details.

How is your week going? Boy, they are going by fast and furious now, don’t you think? It is bittersweet…..it means the end of summer yet the goodbye to humid weather and yucky hair days(bittersweet), the ushering in of cool, crisp weather (super sweet) and the license to dress in beautiful cashmere layers  and indulge in amazing comfort foods (sweetest of all)! It is upon us now and I know many have already started school,  as crazy as it seems.  This post is a little abbreviated (for me) but highlights whats’ going on over here plus a few little tidbits.

So as with all my random posts, this is a bit of this and a bit of that. Some fun, beauty, inspiration and knowledge all rolled into one. Hope you enjoy….

My house. A few new exciting things happened this week. Got in my dining chairs. VERY exciting!! The pale blue silk was a good choice and though they added more of the gold on the chairs than they were supposed to, they still look beautiful! Now this has me wanting to get busy with the chinoiserie and drapes and of course the mantle that is still missing! Then the outdoor lights finally came in after months of waiting. We only had one up, still more to go but the entire back is done….very exciting! These are iPhoto pics so the best I could do this week.

Tah dah, the dining room chairs…….

The striped silk is from Nancy Corzine

Think I have finally decided on bedroom fabrics (also a solid silk and pale blue velvet that are not here) but these I have had a while and I still love them so think they are the winners (pardon the wrinkles, they have put in some serious hours:)

This Clarence House trim is to die for……

And the bell jar in my batrhroom……

And the front door……

And the long awaited lighting came in….this was very exciting too!

Found a great planter, it is a washed lead planter and I am seriously in love with them. I am going to start offering them on my online shop too….its a beauty, don’t you think!

About 36″ x 36″, perfect for large topiaries

An amazing new site. This is totally brilliant. Are you known for saying something over and over? I tell me kids as an example a few things, one is “bloom where you are planted” and  of course I have a few of my own.  SO this site will take any saying you choose, whether its your own creation or one in existence and  make it into a poster. Talk about a great gift! All you do is plug in the saying and they will show you a bunch of different options. You must visit and give it a go, click here to visit recitethis.

 Gotta love this quote 🙂

Two recent movies. One I loved and the other I liked. Blue Jasmine was fabulous…Cate deserves an Oscar in my humble non movie critic opinions. Plus she gets major brownie points for her uber chic wardrobe in the movie. Jobs was good, I walked away a little conflicted about how I felt about Steve, he was a complex character, I was perplexed with how he was able to end important relationships in his life with little feeling or remorse, but brilliant yes he was. I dont’ want to give away too much…both movies worth seeing in my opinion. Finally something worth heading to the theaters for……

A fun Pinterest board. You know I always love to throw in something about food. My Food fun board is one that I have a lot of fun adding to. How amazing do these rustic apple tarts in the skillets look and that cheese spread for a spa party..too cute!! Click here to see my Pinterest board.

Shop news. Some exciting new things!! First off got in another batch of the gorgeous Vanderbilt replica plates. I have 80 pieces to sell.

And take a look at how beautifully  this person from Scribbler Unfocused set up her tables with these plates…..check out her entire setting here.

Guess whats coming back in as we speak? These gorgeous chargers….they will go fast. Expecting about 120 pieces. As always email me if interested, these are just absolutely amazing!

Also just now back in stock are these beautiful black and gold tole planters (both sizes)……

Here are some goodies already on the way, which I am super excited to get…..

Set of three gorgeous black chinoiserie scalloped planters (getting in 8 sets)!

Aren’t those all AMAZING? I am in love and want of each!  I can never get enough of pretty things!

As always contact me here with any inquires or if you wish to purchase.

As I always do, this is a random post with a little bit of everything. Ready to get started? Here we go…..

Home front. I have ordered a bunch of pillows for the back patio. I am excited to put it all together. In the meantime took the pillows form the loggia to “play” and though the size is a little small, I ordered 22″ pillows vs. 20″ I do love the way the navy looks. I decided to keep the back patio clean and crisp, so am going with solid navy pillows in a monogram along with some trellis pillows and a few squares. I do love the Chiang Mai but decided for now at least to keep it on the loggia and do this a bit differently, all the while tying in the navy. I threw in a few other pictures of random things around here too….

The white is a bit too “white” but these are not for this grouping, I was just playing, I do love the solid navy and trellis patterns…..

The pool area, its separate from the house (original site and original pool house). We do have plans to redo it at some point but cannot say its a priority. With older kids who basically never use it, it just doesn’t see a lot of use but I must say when  I do go down there, it is so relaxing and serene and “removed”…..need to visit more often!

The landscaping is coming in nicely..the hedges and grass finally looking almost done! The flowers and trees took a real beating however with the heat, so I am not showing you those:)

A few readers asked to see the back stairs and the limed oak finish…so here it is!

Yes that is Teddy, that is HIS spot…just so he doesn’t miss a thing!

And look what came in this last week….my bar stools! I was so excited, I am glad I decided to keep them simple in a pretty linen/cotton ivory fabric with ant. brass nailheads, I may have some small lumbar pillows made for them out of the pretty curtain fabric. I was thinking they would have been taller but they still look great and are super duper comfy!

I really like the way blue and white porcelain looks next to browns, it really makes it pop

Added an orchid and urn to this vignette, and really like the way it looks……

A gorgeous sunset. One of summers simplest pleasures.  Sat. night we went out to dinner to a beautiful waterfront restaurant and had the most beautiful weather, and sunset which warranted whipping out my iPhone (of course)! It looks more like the view you  might see while on a Caribbean island as palm trees around these parts are most unusual!

The restaurant itself, called Ocean.

Pillows! And speaking of great pillows, I must give a “shout out” (kids are cringing if they read this) to Michele of Calico Daisy, my new pillow “go to” person. If you love monograms and monograms done really well, her work is flawless. She is amazing and her prices are quite fair especially given what some charge for appliqued monogrammed pillows, a pretty penny!  I love the way an entire bed can be transformed with even the addition of one or two monogrammed pillows and some of these would make amazing gifts too.  Here’s a look at some of what Michele offers…..click here to visit her.

A few great posts worth sharing. I like to save/bookmark posts that I really enjoyed and want to be able to go back to. A few worth sharing are below……

For anyone who has dreamt of taking a can of spray paint to an outdated piece of furniture (but like hasn’t had the guts or needs some encouragement, myself included) this wonderful post is for you……

A great robe.  I am a believer that we should all be able to go about life in our pjs and robe (as long as they are pretty)! I mean think about, we would all be soooo much  more comfy, no miserable woman trying to act happy while they are absolutely miserable in shoes that kill and pinch their toes, no men stuck in heavy warm suits and cumbersome ties…we would all be so much happier!

But seeing that that particular trend is not likely to catch on anytime soon, I do enjoy slipping into my pjs and robes pretty much the minute i get home and know I am home for the day. So when I see a great robe, I buy it, because I loooove my pjs and robes. Thought this was from Malarbay Bay was great looking! So chic and available in navy and green….love it! Click here to visit them.

A scrumptious recipe. I know this is cruel. Believe me its torturous to me too, I feel like I am gaining 5 lbs just looking at this picture!  But this looks sooooo amazingly good. I just need to try it. I am an apple crisp girl (ala mode of course) all the way but think I could make an exception for this beautiful baked pear with none other than caramel sauce! Hello…..come to mama. Click here to be taken to Brooklyn Ragazza for the lowdown on how to make it. It is as beautiful as I am sure it is delicious…doubt mine will come out nearly this pretty but I bet it will taste divine, what a perfect dessert for a fall dinner! Come fall, this is going to be baking my kitchen.

A great new movie. Yes, he is “different”,  but I must say I really enjoy Woody’s movies. In fact some of his movies are some of all time favorites. This one promises to be a good one. End of the week musings….

Boy this week flew! Hard to believe its the weekend, we have a busy one ahead, having friends over for drinks tonight, a dinner tomorrow night and a graduation party on Sunday and in between a two day lacrosse tournament and a heck of a lot of driving back and forth. Better get my coffee maker cranked up and ready to do battle.  No rest for the weary….our summer has been full of parties, more than usual,  we had 5 within 4 weeks…kind of glad that “string of events” is over for now, I am looking forward to a slower pace (call me an old lady but I love a chunk of time with nothing on the agenda).  We are planning on going away for a few days for a  little rest and relaxation and I am looking forward.

Part of the fun of summer to me, is not having to adhere to any kind of schedule and just “winging it”. I see lobster rolls, coastal shorelines and lazy afternoons in my future:)
When we near July 4th, that is when I realize just how fast summer is flying! I saw my first “back to school” item in a pharmacy the other day and nearly fainted. No no and no. We need to stop and savor summer for a bit before we can digest anything having to do with fall and back to school!

Finally so happy you enjoyed my recap on The charm of Charlottesville, oh yes…I will be back and will be including several other southern cities in the next tour!  Click here if you missed it.

Ironically this was originally going to be one of my shorter random musings post…but as I always do I start it in the beginning of the week then add on as I am inspired to do so….and it ended up being a long one afterall (surprise surprise). So take a seat and an extra five or ten minutes……..let’s get started!

My house projects. Yea, yea, yea…I know I say it all the time how I am getting back, really I am this time! Two rooms, actually three I really really want to complete are my dining room, living room and bedroom. Actually make it four, we finally finished the tiny powder rooms floor off of the library and I am finalizing the wallpaper for that room to be done once and for all with it! My bedroom is held up because of wall to wall carpet, I will not budge and nothing is happening until the carpet is there. Period. The dining room..finally our chairs are almost here, another two weeks! Once they come then I think I will feel motivated to work on window treatments and go back to the chinoiserie drawing board and the room will be complete. Seems doable. Living room…..we are all over the place, so I think I will stop now with the bedroom and dining room. Here are some of the latest samples for my bedroom (I have not swayed) and living room pillow ideas…….

Funny my master bedroom ideas have not changed one iota since we moved here over a year ago! Here is a mood board I had created, still loving it…..

And these handpainted tole lamps just have to be incorporated somehow…….

Some of the pretty fabrics up for consideration…….

I cannot wait to use my gorgeous monogrammed bedding…and look at these scrumptious trims!

And for small powder room,  still love this wallpaper, so that is what I have decided on!

And up to my ears in trims for pillows for living room

A gorgeous tablescape. By now you know this totally “floats my boat”. Almost makes me want to have another party. Almost 🙂 But boy is this pretty……

Carolyne Roehm working her magic…again!

White jeans. Thought this post on white jeans and the psychology behind it was right on the mark and so interesting, I have always thought white pants or white clothing for that matter to be so chic…

Click here to read the article on Tory Burch’s blog……

Pretty crudite idea. Went to an event at the Safavieh store last night and loved this crudite idea. It was in a wicker “trunk”….so cute and fun! Reminds me to stay creative when thinking of ways to display even something as mundane as a crudite platter!

Best flank steak. You know I like to share recipes when I love something. Have been making this flank recipe forever but its soooo good, easy and worth sharing. If you like to BBQ and have flank steak lovers in your household. This is a must try. The key is marinating for at least 8 hours preferably overnight and the ginger is a big part of the tenderizing process.

Here it is “doing its thing”…..

Ingredients-

1 flank steak
1 ziplock bag
about 1/2 cup soy sauce
1 bunch scallions
about 4 Tbsp sesame seeds (toasted)
1 heaping Tbsp sugar
about 1/4 cup oil
about 1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger (if you don’t have ginger spice is OK but fresh is preferred)

Simply place all ingredients in bag, shake well. Then season your steak with sea salt and pepper generously. Put in bag, seal well and “massage’ it so the marinade has covered the entire steak. Lay flat in your fridge, and turn over at some point mid way. That’s it! When you are ready to grill, remove and throw on hot grill. It is DELISH! The ginger helps to soften/marinate the meat and its absolutely wonderful!

Flower power. Went to my local Italian specialty shop and they had the most spectacular hydrangeas in bloom! Looks like a late summer show of flowers to me…..(snapped these with my iPhone)

And my own white flowers are really lasting and standing the test of time….love white on green!

A favorite jewelry line. Are you familiar with Jose and Maria Barerra? Their line is sold at Neiman Marcus and other sites..and their things are exquisite. I splurged on a gorgeous turquoise necklace (first one) and have been hooked on their line ever since. Total statement pieces…va va voom kind of pieces! I wore the turquoise necklace with a gorgeous red chiffon gown to a wedding held at a yacht club two years ago and have to say I looooooved my outfi, it ranks right up there as one of my all time faves. Turquoise and red together…oh yes! Here’s a sampling of the beautiful pieces they create…..

Pretty amazing huh? Granted you aren’t wearing this bling to the market or a school meeting but for a special occasion or night out..these pieces are soooo gorgeous. Love their style…Jose and Maria, if you are reading this, and need someone to “test out” your pieces…I am willing able and will do it for free:)

My outdoor pillows. Several of you asked about the pattern. I am going to do a post on my pillows and the selection process. But for the record the gorgeous fabric is Chiang Mai by Schumacher…its a stunning pattern!

And here they are, this is still being “tweaked” but I am officially in love with these pillows!!

Dough bowls! A new batch of dough bowls after a long dry spell. I am getting in some rounds (about 18″ round) a hard to get size, and a handful of 20-24″ and then one really big one, about 34″. As usual if you have been waiting on one, just email me, they go really fast and are exceptionally beautiful! Due here next week….woo hoo.

A great new movie…The Wolf of Wall Street.  I am itching for a great movie..haven’t seen one in ages. Come on Hollywood…you are slacking! So The Wolf of Wall Street is coming out soon and this is particularly fun for me because both of the main houses in the movie incidentally belong to two of my friends! I got to see the filming at one of them but was sworn to secrecy at the time. It was so exciting to “be on set” and see Leo who was totally in character and adorable cute little Martin Scorsese. It was quite a production and the movie looks like its going be one heck of an  entertaining story……..then you factor in  that its based on a true story and it really makes it one to watch! Here is the trailer…….

White love. Remember my post on my love of all things white? Well take a look at this stunning dinner table that a reader sent me. How beautiful!! Thank you Nancy for sharing……

A new favorite nail polish. I am obsessed with this color, Go Ginza by good ol Essie. Its on my toes and fingernails (and I don’t usually wear polish on my fingers because its such maintenance)! But I am seriously in love with this gorgeous Essie color..its so perfect for summer. It is the perfect blend of a pale lilac, light pink and white…….hello Ginza:)

A great new book! Calling all readers! I need a great book pronto. I am talking one I just cannot put down. I am itching to read a great book. Last two I read was The Burgess boys and Rules of Civility, both I loved. Please leave your suggestions in the comment box!!

Bill Gates for President. It is likely that most if not all of you have seen this circulated but boy is it ever true. And so good that it warrants getting passed around some more…Bill Gates, I would vote for you for President in a heartbeat!! Common sense goes a long long way:) It really is worth reading the entire way through…..

~ Bill Gates ~
This should be posted in every school or kid’s bedroom.
Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this.!!!

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about
eleven (11) things they did not and will not learn in school.
He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings
created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and
how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1 : Life is not fair – get used to it!
Rule 2 : The world doesn’t care about your self-esteem.
The world will expect you to accomplish something
BEFORE you feel good about yourself.
Rule 3 : You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school.
You won’t be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.
Rule 4 : If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss
Rule 5 : Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity.
Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping:
They called it opportunity.
Rule 6 : If you mess up, it’s not your parents’ fault,
so don’t whine about your mistakes, learn from them.
Rule 7 : Before you were born, your parents weren’t as boring
as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills,
cleaning your clothes and listening to you
talk about how cool you thought you were:
So before you save the rain forest
from the parasites of your parent’s generation,
try delousing the closet in your own room..
Rule 8 : Your school may have done away with winners and losers,
but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades
and they’ll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer.
*This doesn’t bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.
Rule 9 : Life is not divided into semesters.
You don’t get summers off and very few employers
are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF.
*Do that on your own time.
Rule 10 : Television is NOT real life.
In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.
Rule 11 : Be nice to nerds.
Chances are you’ll end up working for one..

The ginger helps to soften/marinate the meat and its absolutely wonderful!?

?Pretty amazing huh?

A great new movie…The Wolf of Wall Street.? I am itching for a great movie..haven’t seen one in ages. Come on Hollywood…you are slacking! So The Wolf of Wall Street is coming out soon and this is particularly fun for me because both of the main houses in the movie incidentally belong to two of my friends! I got to see the filming at one of them but was sworn to secrecy at the time. It was so exciting to “be on set” and see Leo who was totally in character and adorable cute little Martin Scorsese. It was quite a production and the movie looks like its going be one heck of an? entertaining story……..then you factor in? that its based on a true story and it really makes it one to watch!

Can we talk?

Hi there, well after our snowy, blizzar-y, whiteout weekend a weeks ago….I had plenty of time to catch up on  a bunch of movies both old and new. I loved rewatching  old favorites and of course relish discovering  a new favorite. How about you? Do you enjoy rewatching old favorites over and over again or do you always enjoy the surprise of discovering something new?

There are so many and on any given day (when my memory is in good working order) I might remember an old favorite, but below are some of my all time favorites, ones that never seem to get old. I find myself laughing or crying like it was the first time I have ever seen it….amazing how certain flicks can prompt those emotions in us over and over. So….I would love to know what are some of your favorites? Anything new and great or old and wonderful that you want to share? Please tell, I have nothing on my agenda until tonight and would love a good recommendation! Cheers to lazy Sundays!!

So come on…its your turn to talk! I want to hear all your favorites, both old and new. Seen anything out in the theaters worth going to? Last one that I saw that I loved was Silver Linings Playbook….loved it! Can’t wait to hear your take on movies………enjoy your Sunday!

Also I am delighted to be have been featured over at Pamela’s wonderful blog ‘From my front porch to yours” for her regular feature “How I got my style”…..its worth a look and do hope you will swing by to visit me there. Click here to visit….hope to see you over there!
