A holiday recap and leaving on a jet plane……

Hi…wow does anyone else feel like December was just one big blur? I cannot believe Christmas and all the buildup has come and gone! So much fun, so crazy and chaotic, LOTS of work, endless cooking, food and cleanup…….and I loved every single minute of it. We had the good fortune to have hosted my family as well my incredible 96 year old grandmother…you heard right! I soooo hope just a smidgeon of her super incredible genes are in my body:) We had a blast…so much fun game playing, eating, cooking, entertaining, movie watching, you name it …..all that was on my wishlist was indeed accomplished.

On Christmas night, as we all sat together in my living room which looked all aglow with just the sconces on and candles lit, I for a brief moment looked around at all those I love and realized at that very moment that is what perfect feels like. We were all together in good health, safe and warm, and I felt so blessed at that very moment and to me, that was the essence of Christmas. So I feel incredibly grateful and will always cherish Christmas 2013.

I admittedly had a lot of fun decorating my home. Though I realized after years of collecting decorations that have red in them I am ready for a change. And had a “aha” moment while one day in Lord and Taylor’s holiday shop,  I spotted the most beautiful silvery and pale gray/blue garland. That is when I got my divine inspiration for a new direction. So I bought all they had and proceeded to transform my dining room with the new color scheme. By next year…I hope to extend it to the rest of the house. I may gather up all my beautiful decorations that have the red in them and sell them as one big lot, not sure. They have certainly seen me through some wonderful holidays…but change is good! So thought I would share a few final shots of the past few days when all decorations were completed.

This post is very picture heavy…..you might want to take a seat and grab another cup of coffee:)

I finally got my front door together. I kept it simple and elegant, lots of greens and magnolia leaves. I never got to do a few things I wanted to do, thanks to unexpected snowfalls and deep freezes so had to try to do what I could  in between when things thawed out…

Other festive vignettes around the house……

Every year I display my adorable ceramic holiday cupcakes in my domed displays……..

Just back from the local nursery with all my white holiday flowers ready to put into planters……

A Christmas gift to me from me started collected Royal Crown Derby’s Blue Mikado…..so pretty!

My dining room and its new gorgeous soft colored holiday decor…..

And I kept tweaking once I added all my white flowers…white paperwhites and white amaryllis!

A few pics from my family Christmas party (as things were setting up)…..

Say hello to my GORGEOUS new blue pillows that I had made….in love with them (a Christmas present to myself:)

LOVE these pillows so much and got more of the velvet to make a tufted ottoman for my living room

Dessert is served…….

And Christmas day dinner getting set up…..

Since we needed two extra seats, set up this table for two….love a small intimate table, don’t you?

I just love setting up my table with the napkin rings, they always end up being such wonderful conversation pieces

Christmas night, my sons girlfriend and family were coming by so we set up drinks and a few things to nibble on…..

So that’s a wrap up of my holidays….so much fun, and so very memorable. Yes, my feet are tired and I feel a bit worn out but it was so worth all the effort, it was a truly wonderful and perfect holiday! I hope yours were the same.

I am leaving for a much needed and much anticipated vacation to California. You can be sure my iPhone will be charged and ready to capture the beauty and inspiration that California always promises! I will not be around for the next week so look forward to catching up when I return on Jan. 5th.  All details for a brand new giveaway will be announced on Sunday!

It’s hard to believe we are in the thick of the Christmas chaos now, isn’t it? I am happy to report my gift buying is in full swing as is my holiday decor. This is early for me and I am thrilled to think I could potentially have it done by this week. My original goal was Dec. 10th so I have added a few days.  I will be posting less in the coming weeks as there are only so many hours in the day (about 2 to 3 times a week) but you can be sure I will post when I can, as blogland is indeed my “happy place” and a refuge of sorts for me to escape the big, crazy world!

I have gotten many requests for “how tos” on decorating and bringing  Christmas cheer into the house. I am by no means an expert but I do love decorating for the holidays and enjoy playing and tweaking all throughout the season.

Funny thing is you will see a lot of red here. And I am not a red person. But I am practical and like to use what I have and realize I have accumulated a truckload of red holiday items!!! I make it work and it happens to look quite good next to blue and white. There are a few tips that I have learned through the years that have become staples in my decorating arsenal and I thought it would make a fun post to share with you  by popular demand.

Some things I always have on hand, guaranteed to make your home feel “Christmas-y”

  • Lots of fresh evergreen (sprigs, scraps or garland that you can cut up) You can get them at not only obvious places like a nursery but your local supermarket and Home Depot for rock bottom prices
  • Faux sprigs of greenery and garland (again need not be expensive, places like Michaels have them)
  • A large empty water bottle filled at all times with fresh water
  • Pinecones, pinecones, pinecones…….you can never have too many and they are not only super inexpensive but offer so much for so little (they come in big bags and I have found really big bags of them at Costco and stock up)
  • A few great smelling holiday scented candles (Seda France makes a fabulous and pretty one)
  • A great Christmas CD (Christmas music is a MUST)
  • Pillar candles to put inside hurricanes (battery operated even better)
  • Pretty ribbon for gift buying and adding to vignettes
  • Pick up those little sprays of faux greenery, berries (some have small ornaments or pinecones) They often offer them at 40-50% off, they can be used EVERYWHERE!
  • A holiday scented room spray (I love this for bathroom)
  • Love fresh winter flowers, paperwhites, amaryllis and pointsettas
  • “Investing” in a few faux really good holiday flowering plants like amaryllis, paperwhites and pointsettas more than pays back over the years. They are like the gift that keeps on giving!
  • Great and inexpensive way to dress up gifts is 1.5″ thick satin ribbon (like what florists use) You can get 100 yards spool for under $12.00 and believe me it wraps A LOT of gifts and really makes a beautiful presentation

OK so with those things beyond what else you like to use for the holidays, you can indeed create a very festive feeling home. I  always like to burn a candle in my kitchen (where we always are) and keep the principle rooms in my home feeling festive. A wreath on a kitchen window is gorgeous, or a center island with a pretty evergreen and pinceone display. I love adding pretty touches to a powder room like a small wreath hanging over a mirror, burning a holiday candle or adding small sprigs of everygreen to an existing display (like soaps or potpourri).

So lets start at my front door! Notice I am not showing it in its entirety the planters are not yet done, but I do love my wreath.  The day I was going to do the planters, it snowed and its been a frozen ever since, so need a thaw before I can attempt to do them again….hopefully soon. Love the way this came out……

I filled it with all kinds of wonderful greens, pinecones and magnolia leave…rustic elegance:)

I almost didn’t use this picture…as it shows a half done tree and an undecorated table. Half the lights are on and not nearly all the decorations, no presents yet under there, will be sure to show you a completed shot too!

The side door gets a simple oversized wreath and bow

Wanted to fill my large beautiful antique dough bowl with a festive feeling arrangement but something easy! Start with a few sprigs of greenery and keep a water bottle nearby for weekly “mists”

Fill a container (in this case used my antique dough bowl) with big oversized pinecones

Voila!! So easy…..and so pretty!

BEFORE  I like adding garlands to tables/consoles, also on top of mirrors. This is a faux garland I bought I believe at Michaels years ago (have many of these). It is pretty but I like to “jazz it up” and it can be done so easily it’s not even funny, all I do is add sprigs of fresh greens to the center and sides, add a few pinecones and the makeover s complete!

AFTER
See….so easy and the result is just beautiful.

2nd after! And then added a few nutcrackers and a some oversized sugar pinecones….

And in my kitchen added this pretty white hydrangea plant and simple wreath with an ivory bow to the middle window….

The dough bowl found a home on my kitchen island…..

I am admittedly not a huge fan of red but somehow I put that grudge aside during the holidays and actually really develop a temporary affection for the color. I buy these pointsetta topiaries every year, think they are so pretty and definitely very festive. I just find a few pretty empty container and drop them in then add pine cones for  festive touch to the base. The pinceones I buy are also scented so it brings in the wonderful Christmas smell to the room, added them to my island.

(REALLY need to figure out how to use this new camera…somehow the lighting appears off)

And we have a very long hallway that runs the width of the house….so it has several chests and consoles, all of which I do something to…….

Love these little evergreen swags with red velvet ribbon, I add them to each sconce throughout the hallway for an extra little touch

And to my main powder room, I add these pretty topiaries every year and added a gold nutcracker as well….

Add caption
And to the back powder room…..

Tweaked the hall chest with a beautiful giant faux amarylllis that I use every year (such a good investment)! I put it in my beautiful urn from  my shop…..

I really wish I had bought more of this amaryllis plants….they are so real looking!

And in my family room, added some holiday touches…

A white pointsettta plant with a base of pinecones and a gorgeous pinceone garland on the console behind sofa

My two deer plant holders hold two pointsettas and my two Santas on either end, this is not done!

I have many of these little Santa’s so just place them on top of books or wherever I can find a spot:)

The beautiful pinecone topiaires I found from HomeGoods on the family room coffee table……..(and yes the tags will all get cut:)

Changed out the moss balls to lovely pale pinky pointsettas in my urns in the foyer………(the bottom is a wreath that I placed the urns in the center of)

Have some paperwhites (my favorite holiday flower) here and there……picking up more next week

Other vignettes throughout the house…

Haven’t really done anything in the dining room but this small chest is a work in progress!

 A hallway console
Another hallway console….proof that blue and white really does work with everything!

Even red Santa’s

In a guest bedroom I like to add a touch or two… in this case put these pretty pointsettas in these gorgeous planters on the console to bring in a little Christmas for our out of town guests….

Added a simple boxwood ball to the guest powder room but will add a Christmas candle when our guests come

And look at this another wrapped gift……progress is being made!

My favorite combo, a simple pinecone and small cutting of faux or real evergreen

That makes two! Many more to come…..

Here are a few pics hot off the presses as of last night, tree almost done and it’s starting to shape up…

This tree at about 11′ looked HUGE in the nursery but now it just looks like an average sized tree…..

I do love this planter…..and orchids of course!

So folks, that’s whats been keeping me busy so far! I will probably do a round 2 sometime later next week if time allows just to show you the “final final” result…..I am pleased in that everything I used I already had (with the exception of the HomeGoods things) and I realized I do have a lot (way more than my husband wishes I had…his daily mantra is enough, enough)! Hey, when you have the spirit, you go all the way:)
And just one more thing….I promise!!! You will want to know about this…….

It feels like suddenly the accelerator has been pressed and things are in fast forward…..I almost get dizzy thinking of what needs to get done but am determined to hopefully wrap it all up by the first week of December, because normally mid December I am ready and quite eligible for the local asylum:) All that aside, I DO love the holidays and all that goes along with it, giving, the foods, the weather, the decorating, wrapping gifts, holiday clothes, etc…….but I like when I can really savor and enjoy it, and that only happens when I am organized and stay on task so today is not a day too soon to start the planning!

Before I get started I announced the winner of the mega jackpot skincare from Avery Graham. Unfortunately the winner has not stepped up so I am giving it one more shot. If I have not heard back by Sunday morning, a new winner will be chosen. So Debra….time is ticking! Step right up to claim your prize!

      Result:

      81
Pink Opulance, opulence eye cream as well as the eye make-up remover that would be a good start to get me on track!
Thanks for the giveaway and insightful information

Anywho, moving along here is what’s new in my world……(all pics taken with iPhone as my camera was not charged)

MY HOUSE. I have some projects in the works. Got my first strikeoff for the dining room of the chinoiserie and while it’s definitely not right it does affirm my decision that this is the way to go and once we get the colors down, its going to be nothing short of spectacular. SO we are back to round 2 and think we are a lot closer now in terms of the colors we are using…cannot wait and of course will share! It is a definite labor of love but oh so worth it!

The large sample though way too yellow…love the pattern, let the tweaking begin!

Another smaller sample from long ago, as you can see the background is way off from the rug but you have to start somewhere!

So my trusty little Benjamin Moore color cards have been making many visits to the dining room!

And at long last, I have chosen colors for the next sample……fingers crossed!

My bedroom is also finally coming together.  Used this gorgeous cream and blue silk for my closet/sitting area and was waiting till it went up to decided if I would use it for the bedroom and indeed I am, I just love it. Its so soft and pretty and quiet just as I wanted it to be. I have been working hard to find carpeting, its a very large space so the challenge ironically hasnt’ been finding a carpet I like but finding one they have enough of. I have found the mills do not stock carpet the way they used to…sign of the times. So this is the one I can get the most of, it will mean not putting carpeting in my closet and small office, but having it in the sitting area and bedroom which really are most important anyway. So think this is the one and about to pull the trigger…woo hoo!

It all started with this gorgeous paper from Stark (now discontinued, but available by custom order)

So after months and months of thinking and looking (more thinking than looking) I found a carpet with just the right cream and just the right soft dusty blue

And went back to the original trim from Clarence House that I am madly in love with!

And the gorgeous cream and blue silk…….
       Carpeting
Ready to see the fabric in my sitting room/closet? Love it!

Pay zero attention the that chair (my first big girl purchase at 22 from Century) still a great chair but am going to reupholster it and the tattered Scalamandre pillow (20 years and going strong) but wrong colors, etc……

Another carpet that was lovely from Stark but it was too green, not blue enough…..

Still love this linen, will do some pillows or something in this for sure

Amazing how often we go back to our original choices…..that was the case with me and I am thrilled.

A GREAT FILM. I like movies of all kinds and I watched one somewhat documentary called “Red Obsession” which is about the soaring prices and unparallelled demand for the famed Bordeaux wines, and of course who is their number one consumer? The Chinese….it is totally fascinating and if this remotely interests you then I would highly recommend it. I know its available on Movies on Demand and I believe Netflix. Here is a sneak peek…..

GREENWICH, CT. I love this place! 15 years ago we had a deal on a house there that turned out to have some serious structural issues and we looked at it as a chance to reconsider and ended up staying on Long Island closer to family. However many many times I have thought and still think this is one of most beautiful places to live. I love Greenwich and if you ever the chance to visit, you absolutely should!! Went to a great restaurant Harvest (thanks Sandy from You may be wandering)  where I had the best shaved Brussels sprouts salad EVER. Then we went into some of our favorite shops including Rinfret (always a fave), here is a recap……

Yes it really was THAT good!!!!!!!

Isn’t this charming? I couldn’t resist taking pictures, they always do such a beautiful job…..

Saw this beautiful very large ginger jar at Two’s Company and my blue and white radar went on high alert!

These next photos are all from Rinfret, which is all decked out for the holidays, its was so festive and beautiful……

GOOD FOOD. You know this is a favorite subject of mine! So two things to talk about. The first I was inspired to find, after eating that out of this world brussels sprout salad and I found one that seems to be very very close from The Divine Addiction. I am trying it this week and will let you know. In case you are interested…..click here for recipe.

Second one is something I tried and LOVED. Worth sharing…trust me on this. One subject I consider myself to be an expert on is food:) If you like puff pastry, mushrooms and Gruyere then you must give this a shot (I also add Parmesan) You can make one big one or cut them into squares as appetizers…..yum! Click here for recipe.

AN INTERESTING VIDEO. You might have thought of this, maybe not. What kind of mother are you? How would you describe yourself as a mother to your kids? How do you think your kids might describe you? This video is worth a look, it is so telling and so touching and makes me wonder how my kids would answer it. Really got me thinking.  Click here to see.

BABY LIGHT MY FIRE. This is for lovely Anita of Castles Crowns and Cottages. She had asked if we had lit the fireplace outside and if we did to please share a picture. Well Anita, this ones for you……wish you were here to enjoy a cup of hot chocolate with me!

NEW CONTEST! The blue and white love was such a huge success that I am continuing on with another contest. The new theme is “Hooray for the Holidays“. I am accepting pictures for anything having to do with the holidays (Halloween, Thanksgiving or Christmas) up until Dec. 4th. I will run the contest through Dec. 8th and announce a winner on Monday, Dec.9th.

No rules…however you interpret “Hooray for the Holidays”. Could be a favorite meal, your home all decked out, your Thanksgiving table, a pet or child showing their spirit, etc…..I know I am in for a treat, your talents and inspirations always blow me away. Same rules, two pictures per entrant, you must put Hooray for the Holidays in the subject line of your email (I get a ton of email and dont’ want it lost in the shuffle).

Email me your pictures to theenchantedhome@gmail.com. Thank in advance for entering, you have a little over 2 weeks to send them in! I will also hold a Christmas themed contest in early Jan so get those cameras ready! Some ideas…..

SHOP NEWS. I have been really busy with my little shop. I was excited to help someone with 20 ginger jars for her daughters wedding, she promised to send pictures, I can’t wait! I also have some lighting that was custom done that went in which I will also share. I love nothing more than when customers send me pictures of their completed projects.

I am going to be doing a post in the next week  about various holiday gifts/promotions in  my shop as well as deadlines, because time is ticking!  I am also going to “close shop” for about a week before Christmas. The last day to place orders will be Dec. 14th until after Christmas. In the upcoming post I will also let you know about deadlines for things like monogrammed items, custom napkin rings,etc…..

On my recent steals and deals, I really hit the jackpot. I was lucky enough to have bought a large lot of truly exquisite items from a manufacturer who is restructuring and moving down south. His loss is my gain (and yours)! I have sold the bulk of it but still have about 10-12 boxes to unpack so who knows what’s in them! It’s like a treasure hunt with guaranteed treasure:) I am trying to move through them quickly to ideally get everything up, sold and shipped before Thanksgiving. I will post the newest finds sometime next week……

FINALLY,  as much fun as it is to talk about the fluff and fun of the things we love most……I must speak about the horrific events happening in the Philippines. The devastation is truly unimaginable. My heart breaks for all those affected. The rebuilding effort is going to take a very long time. But right now the focus is on the people and treating the hundreds of thousands who are injured, without food and water, shelter…people who have lost their families and everything they ever owned.
I always like to to help out in whatever small way I can, my only requirement is I want to know my donation is going 100% to the actual relief effort and not to cover administration coats!

      http://www.directrelief.org/

I have given through AmeriCares  (who is also a non profit and a wonderful organization too) and thanks to Emily of Splendid Market, I also found out about Direct Relief, whose mission as a non profit organization is to provide medical relief around the world. That is the main focus for the many victims of Typhoon Haiyan. Click here to find out more about them. There is no amount too small, every dollar can make a difference. I hope you will consider donating.

Thanks so much for stopping in and I hope you have a wonderful and productive day! I enjoyed putting this post together and really enjoyed being all over the map with my random musings…missed these posts! I think the theme for November (for me at least) will be productivity. I want to get as much done before the Christmas crunch this month as I possibly can. Is there such thing as a relaxing December? Hummmmmm……..I will get back to you on that:)

My patio, flowers, BBQ’s and The Hamptons!

Hello and happy Tuesday night to you……this post is a bit of this and a bit of that, all about my favorite things- flowers, cooking, decorating, the great outdoors and The Hamptons!

Got my patio furniture for the back patio..was so excited! It is beautiful, very comfortable and beautifully made. Now I have to get busy deciding on pillows (again) and various accessories, and will naturally add my trademark blue and white to the mix!

Have been out to the Hamptons and the North Fork quite a bit lately and am sharing some of those highlights too. Had a casual BBQ on Sunday and love nothing more than visiting a local farm stand and picking up fresh vegetables and fruits……I get so inspired. Also visited a sunflower farm and found the most sensational sunflowers. They are enormous  and are well over 2 feet tall….talk about impact! So its a little of this and a bit of that around here. Let’s get rolling……

Warning- VERY picture heavy, you might want to see this post sitting!

Outdoor furniture!! Its a beautiful line from Woodard (the Landgrave division)  and I really love it, we have to now get busy figuring out pillows and accessories to add to the setting

This is just the start but I will be sure to share things as we go along……

The furniture is from Woodard Landgrave, a beautiful elegant beautifully built line of outdoor furniture

Love taking pictures late in the day, that late day sun is my absolute favorite

Love the elegant clean lines, now need to figure out pillows and accessories (the fun part)…..

Tried out my loggia pillows, they are a little small but think the blues look beautiful…….

Meanwhile back inside getting ready for a casual BBQ on Sunday……

The sunflowers looked so perfect with my beautiful melamine outdoor dishes from my online shop

Love my sunflowers! They are HUGE, towering about 2 and a half feet!

The spinach Greek salad that is fast becoming  a regular around here

Hard to tell here but these scallions were almost 2 feet long! The basil was enormous too…..

My delicious pistachio ice cream sandwiches. So easy and always a HUGE hit. I buy vanilla pizelles and get pistachio ice cream and open it up and then slice it, I add extra pistachios ground up…this is light, delicious, pretty and a perfect summer dessert!

Tossing in the baked almonds to the salad
Yummy peaches with fresh mint chilling for my trademark peach sangria, the perfect summer drink!

Easy peasy, the wine doesn’t need to be expensive just a light dry white wine and Peach Schnapps, fresh peaches and mint, and then the ginger ale is added at the end…..so light and refreshing!

Love a beautiful fruit platter…..found figs which was so exciting, they add a lot to any plate of fruit!

Yum, let me do a “taste test”

Am I the only one who gets excited over pretty tomatoes?
The “sous chef” has decided he has earned a  much needed nap!
All the fixings for my crostini…a regular in this house!

      Table getting set up

Veges ready to be thrown on the grill (I added sea salt and pepper and drizzled them with olive oil and they were fantastic)!

Meanwhile our driveway is getting done, its a mess but the end result will be wonderful…..

      And to The Hamptons……

Sorry… I know this is cruel, espeically if you are hungry (which I am right now) and suddenly am craving a fresh lobster roll on squishy bread!

All of my favorite flowers at one of my favorite garden centers……

These orchids were AMAZING. Four stems…and HUGE!

And yes, of course one had to come home with me, it was begging to be picked and brought home!
If you are a hydrangea fan…you would have gone mad, they were there in every color!

Though I am not a big hibiscus fan, this pretty purple color got my attention…..

Loved this large boxwood globe (36″ round)

More flowers getting stuffed into the car…..
      Never met a sunflower I didn’t love!
      Beautiful Mecox Gardens
And the orchid beauty just continued to wow me!
Loooove farm stands, but I am sure you know that by now:)

And how gorgeous of a picture did these make? It made me want to plan a party around a sunflower theme!

Love the farm stands…..they almost excite me more than a great clothing boutique (almost)!

       Beautiful vineyards…..
An abundance of fresh fruit and flowers………
       Love coming home and “playing”….
       Charm galore!

Even the storage sheds have blooming hydrangeas!

And once again my backseat is loaded up with as much as I can squeeze into it
Duckwalk is a wonderful conveniently located vineyard…..

       Another beautiful nursery…..
Windmills to me are synonymous with The Hamptons
       As are roadside farm stands….
And gorgeous sunflowers just waiting for a new home

White hydrangeas always stop me in my tracks!!

Back at home put together a pretty casual arrangement  in one of my favorite blue and white bud vases

And the huge sunflowers in this large blue and white vase…love the color combination

And finally put my huge orchid in the centerpiece bowl on my island in the kitchen, love the effect
And my hydrangea in its rightful home……love this planter from my online shop
So that is a wrap of what’s going on around here. Trying to get into the summer groove and have to say this week it finally feels like I am. Love nothing more than a trip to the beach, a visit to my local farmstand, a car filled with fresh veges and fruits, flowers to come home and arrange, it’s all part of what makes summer so amazing and an equally good reminder to stop and smell the roses along the way!

Some girls need diamonds and other expensive accoutrements (and believe me I won’t turn them down) but I realized the older I get the more I appreciate the simple pleasures in life………how about you? Whats your summer pleasure? Thanks as always for stopping in!

?Love the farm stands…..they almost excite me more than a great clothing boutique (almost)!

      ?Beautiful vineyards…..
?An abundance of fresh fruit and flowers………
      ?Love coming home and “playing”….
      ?Charm galore!

?Even the storage sheds have blooming hydrangeas!

?And once again my backseat is loaded up with as much as I can squeeze into it
?Duckwalk is a wonderful conveniently located vineyard…..

      ?Another beautiful nursery…..
?Windmills to me are synonymous with The Hamptons
      ?As are roadside farm stands….
?And gorgeous sunflowers just waiting for a new home

?White hydrangeas always stop me in my tracks!!

Back at home put together a pretty casual arrangement? in one of my favorite blue and white bud vases

?Some girls need diamonds and other expensive accoutrements (and believe me I won’t turn them down) but I realized the older I get the more I appreciate the simple pleasures in life………how about you? Whats your summer pleasure? Thanks as always for stopping in!

      Pillow heaven…..

Hi there! Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe July 4th holiday. Ours was relaxing and enjoyable. Our plans were slightly derailed (thanks to teenagers who would rather be with their friends than parents) but we ended up not taking our trip to Maine and instead ended up going to the Hamptons. I was at first, extremely disappointed but it turned out to be a lot of fun and we were blessed with amazing weather so no complaints….still got my share of lobster rolls, a bit of shopping, beachtime? and other indulgences! Maine will have to wait maybe until later in the summer. So its back to business and I must admit I missed blogging and checking in with all my blogging friends so it’s awfully? nice to be back!

I love pillows. Have a feeling I have a loooot of company. Lets face it, they are an inexpensive way to totally changing up a space without breaking the bank or having to visit your local furniture store for a total redo. They can? add so much to a space and today’s selection is as vast as its ever been. When I was looking for pillows for the loggia furniture, I was getting frustrated. I knew exactly what I wanted but I just wasn’t finding it. I found something pretty close at Frontgate but had a hard time justifying $160 a pop for a basic cotton pillow, not even including trim! And then even with that price tag I liked it, didn’t love it.

Soon I turned to Etsy, figuring there’s a reason so many talk about it and lo and behold I was in pillow nirvana. Suddenly I had too many choices…that should be my biggest problem! So I ended up ordering two batches figuring I would “play” and play I did. So below are pictures (some of which you might have seen) of the two sets of pillows…honestly love them both but Schumachers Chiang Mia has always had a special place in my heart so this is the one that shall remain. The others, the ikat might be used for the pool (totally works) or for the outdoor furniture on the main patio coming any day. I also am including my own little mood board of the final contenders and then the Etsy sites of the two wonderful women I dealt with who were both a total pleasure and produced high quality well priced merchandise! So here we go….

My mood board featuring the final contenders…it was a tough choice admittedly!
The first batch I got in were the ikat and geometric courtesy of? Motif Pillows. She has an absolutely gorgeous selection of pillows and I am certain I will be shopping with her again! Motif pillows were just stunning, click here to visit her online shop.? Below are a few of her recent offerings, all so pretty!

And here are my own pillows from her on display……

Then I got the pillows in from Studio Trullia? and it was love at first sight. She produces really high quality pillows and uses wonderful fabrics. Her customer service was fantastic as well as as her accommodations and turnaround time. Click here to visit her shop and here are a few pillows from her shop currently being offered, all gorgeous once again!

And here is my heap ready to find their home…..

So ultimately the Chiang Mai won out, I just love it..it is what was in my head the entire time. Waiting on two more lumbars and the solid ivory with navy tape (last pic) and I am done here. Really love the final result…….

I ordered two of these but in the reverse, ivory with navy tape…should be here next week!

And here are a few more wonderful pillow sources on Etsy worth sharing….

      Ylaylas on Etsy

So the bottom line is this……….I found ultimately exactly what I had been looking for. LOVE what I have and cannot wait to do more! I don’t need to look anywhere else but Etsy, seriously there are sooooo many amazing pillow resources and for the most? part they are all so much less than their competition (the big names) plus I was happy to support a small business owner and in turn got exactly what I wanted.

So if pillows are by chance something you are in the market for by all means do take a look at the two resources I mentioned here and Etsy in general, there are so many wonderful finds! Happy pillow shopping and thanks for stopping in! Wishing you a wonderful weekend and be back on Monday!
