Meet our newest additions, happy Saturday and pretty posts to ponder!

Good morning,  we are trucking along…things are happening people! Today we are starting a a massive “clean up”, you can imagine the dust, dirt, etc that has accumulated…..the plan as of right now is that we will have the moving trucks trucking on over Thursday morning but will continue to move odds and ends into the house early this week. So as of Thursday, fingers crossed we may just be spending our first night there!

I hope you have enjoyed the wonderful guest posts I have featured lately,  with more to come in the next two weeks! I have been so lucky to have had some amazing blogging friends pitch in to help out (wouldn’t you agree) and there are plenty more to come, you will see me here occasionally during the week with some posts I have prepared in advance speckled with more guests posts, and it will be this way until I have moved and start coming up for air. For anyone who has moved, you know whats involved, I don’t need to explain. That said, since blogging as I have said before is my “therapy” I will be coming to blogland just as often as I can, you can bet your frappucinio on that! (yummm..that sounds so good right now).

Anyway, just a few things I wanted to share….loooooong awaited stove and the finished family room mantle. Love them both so  much, just had to post some pictures!  And a few other odds and ends, as well as some of your questions answered, which I got many from last Thursday, so this is a bit of a hodge podge post. And we are off……….

Allow me to present the newest addition to our family…my long awaited stove!!!!!! Tah dah!!
(Imagine there is a fancy red carpet)

And then our second finished and newest addition, the completed family room fireplace (pictures a little grainy as it was getting dark and didn’t have my “good” camera)

And a few of your questions answered…..

What is the color of the laundry room cabinets? Stark Paint “slate II”, or you can have your local paint store make up their match, (easily done)

Who makes the crystal and nickel sconce in my guest room and the hallway sconces? Both came from Decorative Crafts

What color is my bathroom walls and trim? We took linen white and added one part white to tone down a little of the yellow, and used white dove on the trim.

What kind of flooring did we use for the wood floors? Premium white oak, with some mahogany inlays. Almost as important if not as important, is making sure you have a very good finisher.

Where did my marble floor come from in my bathroom? That came from the queen of waterjet marble….New Ravenna. It is Calcutta gold in the Djinn pattern. Their things are exquisite and they truly can do anything. Click here to visit their site.

Some are still asking about the grill in the kitchen? It is from Heathcast in England.

(If your question was not answered here or via email feel free to email me)

And finally some posts to ponder that I have enjoyed as of late (some old and some new)…….great idea to go through these if you have a spare chunk of time this weekend and a good cup of coffee:)  Enjoy!

PLAIN CHICKEN……yummy baked brie bites, easy and delicious! Trust me they ARE as good a they look!

Things I am loving Thursdays and house updates!!

Happy Thursday! I didn’t post yesterday, its been a very hectic week and I will have weeks where I may have to skip a day here and there, so please don’t be surprised (or mad at me) where you don’t see a new post for a day or two but in general I do try to post every day except Saturday. I definitely over committed myself this week to a number of things, on top of having a lot going on over at the house so needless to say this is a week that I am happy is ending tomorrow!

On Thursdays I try to include house updates, since they are coming pretty fast and furious now so we will start with that……they have started the rest of the stair install and its coming out quite incredible. We are all in awe of the work of art that it is! A seamless sculpture of floating wood…..then the bathrooms are in full swing and seeing my visions coming to life is quite exhilarating! I am loving each and every one and can honestly say each one was so worth the sleepless nights, arguments, extra glass of wine, that extra cookie (or two), those handfuls of chips and yes even that candy bar I snuck (out of “nerves” that needed to be worked out) Yep, all worth it!! So here are the pictures……….

The wood paneling is well under way, here are the casings just getting installed around the windows
First half of very labor intensive staircase installation
It almost looks like a gorgeous sculpture
The “woodworking shop”
Beams for breakfast room that have been getting distressed and “antiqued” before finishing
Calacutta gold just arrived for shower floors
Wood floors for hallways just got installed
They are doing a wonderful job for upstairs hallway
At long last….my floors!!
I love the scalloped detail….

Breakfast room continues….
And continues……….

At long last after 7 long laborious hours……the second half is installed….
Magnifique!

The full staircase just about in…you can almost see the full sweep

Beams almost fully “antiqued” imagined aged to look 100 years in just a few days!

Sons bath…isn’t the “plaid” neat?

Other sons bath, love the border

From an upstairs angle

My bathroom getting grouted, its wet so looks dark but the grout is actually a very pale gray

So that’s the update for now…much more to come!!

ANTIQUE URNS. I love looking for beautiful things and never tire of it even if its not for me! I especially love anything and everything having to do with the home, decor and tabletop. Love old urns too. I was at an antique store in the area  and spotted two gorgeous stone urns and snatched them up and ran them over to my local nursery where I selected a beautiful arrangement of spring flowers and had them filled. These were not going to me but instead was a group gift for a dear friend from myself and a few friends (lucky her but she deserved them).  She was needless to say overjoyed when they were delivered!  A slice of Versailles was born! I was so excited with how they turned out…I had to share! Here are a few pictures of them in progress as they were being created! (they stand about 4 feet tall and about 2 feet wide)

GORGEOUS FLATWARE FROM VIETRI. I love beautiful flatware. For everyday I have a pretty stainless set I bought from Horchow years ago and then I have my set of sterling and then I like to buy a set that can be used as backup or for summer entertaining. I LOVE this set by Vietri, called   the real problem would be deciding on which color/finish to choose! I think I would go for the tortoise much as I love love love the green! How beautiful is this set? Whats your favorite color?

SERIOUSLY HEART PALPITATION INDUCING CHINA. This isn’t the overly formal stuff but boy, is it pretty!! I found all this at a site I have been frequenting, and if I had to choose today..I would be hard pressed! Of course if you love flatware, chances are you love china too! I have a few sets of Limoges which I love and started collecting china until we moved. I hope to start again but there are so so so many other things I will have to make priority that it will probably have to be awhile. In the meantime I can satisfy my hunger for beautiful china by ogling them online..here are some recent faves………
Love this delicate polka dot gold and scalloped edged plate from France

Love this equestrian themed china!!

How great is this pitcher?

And this Charlotte Moss set of bamboo inspired china on a wicker charger?
I like this charger (it shows the two choices of monograms)
Elegant in pink, Limoges!
And this “afternoon tea party” service just about set me over the edge

BEAUTIFUL WALL TO WALL. As I am starting to look for pretty wall to wall carpeting, I have seen and found some very nice selections. I want classic looking carpet that won’t look trendy nor do I want it to look dated, so here are a few that I think are quite elegant and timeless. What do you think. These are all by Schumachers latest line. The last few are contenders for my boys’ rooms….masculine but understated.

GREAT BATH PRODUCTS. Love Lady Primrose. Have used this line for years now. Love the body cream, the body powder and the bath crystals. Their crystal decanters are so luxurious and fabulous looking and are wonderful items to display in the bath. Really fine bath products that smell heavenly! I just love this line…..click here to check out the line. They make things in a wide range of prices and sizes including great gift boxes and now even make things for little kids! I highly recommend the line! Here is an idea of what they have……

PRETTY STATIONARY. I love wrapping gifts. What can I say, well except during Christmas when I tend to get a bit frazzled and feel like an I love Lucy episode at an assembly factory line gone bad…..lol, where I can’t wrap fast enough and things just aren’t looking quite how I like them to look, etc…but in general I take a lot of pride in how I wrap my gifts and always like to add my little extra touches, and those who know me know this well. So I discovered this little company who offered this pretty trellis gift wrap paper. I am a trellis nut. I love trellis fabric, carpet, trellis anything….so fell in love with the trellis gift wrap! I also love the lemon gift wrap, so fresh and crisp….perfect for summer gifts. Click here to visit Retta le Ritz.

SWANK LIGHTING AND SEEING THE WINNING LAMPS IN THEIR NEW HOME! As you all remember, Swank lighting was incredibly generous to offer a pair of amazing lamps as a giveaway and one of my lucky readers, Valerie was the recipient of the gorgeous pair below. She was so excited and had custom lampshades made, the end result is nothing short of perfection! She found the perfect place for them in her bedroom and was kind enough to send me a bunch of pictures…right out of a photo shoot, here they are! You must check out the exquisite offerings for one of a kind Murano glass hand blown lamps at Swank lighting, I guarantee you will love what you see! Below are a few examples of their increidble lamps! Click here to visit their site and see more….their selection is nothing short of incredible.

MACKENZIE CHILDS BEVERAGE SERVER. I think one or two pieces of Mackenzie Childs is more than enough but I must say that I thought that this beverage dispenser was really neat. I thought for summer outdoor entertaining it could be a lot of fun.
COOKING SCHOOL IN FRANCE. OK, now this granted, is something that needs to be put on a back burner for awhile, a very far away back burner, but its on my list and I do plan on accomplishing this one day! How much fun would it be to not only go to cooking school but to go to cooking school in the mother of cooking countries, France? What a dream come true it would be and is for many who sign up to go to the On Rue Tatin cooking School  in the Norman town of Louviers. To boot its only an hour from Paris and its in a restored 15th century former convent. There is a wide range of courses to select  from  ranging from 1 day course to a full 5 day program. The program is run and overseen by Susan Herrman Lommis who is a world renowned food expert and an award winning author of nine books.. Where do I sign up? How enticing do these pictures make it look? I think gathering a small group of great friends and going over would be the trip of a lifetime and then finishing it off wtih a few days in Paris would the crowning touch. Click here for more information and she has her own blog!

FUN DOG ITEMS. Always thinking about cute little doggie things. Teddy has been quite patient throughout this whole house ordeal, its been traumatic for him too. So I am going to treat him to a new bed and new dishes when we move. There are so many great companies catering to our canine friends, one is  “Unleashed life”, who makes adorable very decor friendly bowls and now beds. They are clever because they make a wide range of styles that will fit well into very modern homes all the way to super traditional ones. Click here to visit them. Here are a few of their very interior design friendly bowls and beds……

So that’s what I am loving this Thursday….lots of fun goodies! Hope you have a wonderful day….and would love to know if there is something you are loving that you want to share! Until tomorrow……….

Things I am loving Thursdays………

Happy Thursday! You know its my favorite day because I get to share what I am loving this week and this week its mostly all about my house as we step into high gear into the finishing stages. Granted we have a long ways to go but its exciting to finally see things starting to come together! So here we go with what I am loving this Thursday…..

MY NEW FLOORS AND A FEW HOUSE UPDATES. Oh yea, you better believe after driving my husband CRAZY with a capital C for months(gotta have them or else)..for these floors then waiting another four months for them to come in…you better believe this is at the top of my list of things I am loving today! They were installed just a few days ago and they are exactly as I had dreamed about all those sleepless nights. So worth the wait, the sleepless nights, those extra glasses of wine, that extra cup of coffee, that argument, yep…worth it all! So here’s a peak at the kitchen floor during the “dry lay” unfortunately by the time I arrived with my camera in tow to have a little photo session they were all covered up…but I will snap away when they uncover them next week to do the sealing process, they came out AMAZING! (In these pictures they are wet) And then pictures from the factory of my husbands floor which got shipped 2 days ago and should be here today! I am in love with those too! What do you think?

Sons bathroom in progress..loving it!

Dining room…final spackling is done!

Radiant heat in kitchen finished….

Ditto for breakfast room

The table with the molding samples

The dome over the stairhall

A tiny sampling of the floors…a “dry run” before the actual install

Finally……..if a floor could tell a story….

And at last they begin……
Hubbys bathrooms floor……

HARDWARE FOR CABINETS. My newest reason to lose sleep. Yes, I thought I had this all figured out. Should have known its never that easy. Thought I was going the old polished nickel route which I think is GORGEOUS. However now am second guessing myself and thinking my particular kitchen with all the old world elements it’s got going on might call for something a slight bit more rustic(not sure if rustic is the right word) not something so bright and shiny if you get what I am saying…nevertheless I have been eyeing some pretty gorgeous hardware. (and I am seriously confused now) Here are some tidbits…..

MARBLE. I melt over marble. Buckle at the knees. Get a little faint and lightheaded. Crazy, huh? Don’t know what it is but show me a slab of gorgeous white veiney marble and I just about lose my mind. So, as you can see I have been looking a lot at marble slabs. The one I am the most in love wtih is Calacutta Crown, naturally one of the more expensive of the whites! But, man is it gorgeous..so below are a few of the slabs currently available…thoughts?

AN ACT OF KINDNESS. This story is simply amazing,  there is a movie called “A small act” which is about as heartwarming as you can get. An incredible story about the domino effect of giving and receiving. Starts with Hilde Back, escaped from Nazi Germany, so grateful she wants to give back and does so  by giving $15 a month by randomly selecting an African child to help. Turns out it is Chris Mburu, a rural Kenyan student who miraculously turns his tiny opportunity into success beyond anyones imagination. He becomes a standout star student, eventually moves to the United States, attends Harvard Law School and chooses to honor his donor by establishing the Hilde Back education Fund which sponsors more Kenyan children to do just what she did many years ago. He tracks her down and brings her back to Kenya to see what her generous and then small act of kindness has inspired. Such an incredibly heartwarming story! Click here to read all about it and to see how you can help get in on your own small act. Below is a picture of Hilde and Chris reunited…..such a wonderful story!
LIMESTONE HOODS. I love the authentic look a limestone hood gives a kitchen. Granted, its not appropriate for all kitchens but for mine, I know its just right. I can’t wait to receive it! The one I am getting, shape wise looks very similar to this one below.
WALLPAPER. You know I have literal daily wallpaper crushes. I have chosen and ordered paper for two bathrooms so far because I had to strike while the iron was hot,  however there are still many more areas to consider papering so my quest for gorgeous paper continues!
I love Gailbraith and Paul papers..used them in my old bathroom. Something about these below that I really like, they feel so fresh and I love the soft muted colors..was thinking maybe for my laundry room, and am thinking to go wtih  pale painted gray cabinetry in there….any thoughts?
Possible cabinet color above (thoughts?) in laundry room…contenders for paper below:

FUN OUTDOOR PLATES. Boatman Geller, love everything they make. And love these adorable melanine plates…shatterproof, perfect to have on hand for fun effortless ourdoor entertaining! I love the first ones and am ordering them, they will look great on top of a wicker placemat with white flatware and a chunky glass! Love the other patterns too…wouldn’t they make great gifts? I am thinking of ordering these for a housewarming gift for a cousin moving to AZ. If you want to visit Boatman Geller to check out their extensive line of goodies..click here.

A GREAT DESIGN BOOK. By Chritiane de Nicolay-Mazery and Jean-Bernard Naudin.  I could open a small library with my book collection, I kid you not. But there are a handful of design books I go back to again and again….they just never get old. One of them, if you love all things French and if you love “being taken away”  is this one,it is a gem of a book and I promise you, you will not only love it but you will thank me for recommending it.They take you into a special and privileged world. It is chock full of dreamy and breathtaking pictures, all taken at various chateaus in the countryside in France from real life dinners, weddings, events and day to day life. We see these magnificent homes in the most intimate way possible through all four seasons and the photography truly takes your breath away…I promise you will not be disappointed…there is a reason my book looks likes its as old as the chateaus featured in them!  It is a true slice of heaven.

A GOOD SAUCE IN A JAR.  I know…I know, I am not a “sauce in a jar” kind of gal. However I decided to try Mario Batali’s new Alla Vodka sauce, well actually I got it to prepare for my son who is a self declared alla vodka connoisseur. Since yours truly is on a diet…I figured this would be easy and what did I have to lose? As it turns out, this was darn good. Its quite spicy (but he likes it that way) and we would both highly recommend it. It required almost no extra seasoning which is a first (I just added a wee bit extra Parmesan cheese) Try it…you’ll like it!

UNIQUE GIFTS. I love when I come up a unique idea to buy for someone special in my life. My niece has a birthday coming up, so for her I always send a gift card  (as show me a teenage girl who doesn’t love an excuse to hit the mall) but this year as she spends her last few weeks trying to decide which college acceptance she will say yes to, once she does I am going to have a dozen custom cookies made up in that colleges’ logo made up. I have ordered from Flourpotcookies before and let me tell you, they make the cutest cookies! For my grandmother who is a serious bridge player from the south, they whipped up a dozen cookies all with the theme of bridge and made two mint julep cookies! Here is a sampling of their truly incredible almost too cute to eat works of art! Click here to visit them. And, yes these are all really cookies!

So everyone…that about sums up what I am loving today. Would love to know whats exciting you today….and do hope you have an amazing day!

Oh yea, you better believe after driving my husband CRAZY with a capital C for months(gotta have them or else)..for these floors then waiting another four months for them to come in…you better believe this is at the?top of my list of things I am loving today!

This story is simply amazing, ?there is a movie called “A small act” which is about as heartwarming as you can get. An incredible story about the domino effect of giving and receiving. Starts with Hilde Back, escaped from Nazi Germany, so grateful she wants to give back and does so ?by giving $15 a month by randomly selecting an African child to help. Below is a picture of Hilde and Chris reunited…..such a wonderful story!?
LIMESTONE HOODS. I love the authentic look a limestone hood gives a kitchen. Granted, its not appropriate for all kitchens but for mine, I know its just right. I can’t wait to receive it! The one I am getting, shape wise looks very similar to this one below.
WALLPAPER. You know I have literal daily wallpaper crushes. I have chosen and ordered paper for two bathrooms so far because I had to strike while the iron was hot, ?however there are still many more areas to consider papering so my quest for gorgeous paper continues!
I love Gailbraith and Paul papers..used them in my old bathroom. Something about these below that I really like, they feel so fresh and I love the soft muted colors..was thinking maybe for my laundry room, and am thinking to go wtih ?pale painted gray cabinetry in there….any thoughts?

By Chritiane de Nicolay-Mazery and Jean-Bernard Naudin.??I could open a small library with my book collection, I kid you not. But there are a handful of design books I go back to again and again….they just never get old. One of them, if you love all things French and if you love “being taken away” ?is this one,it is a gem of a book and I promise you, you will not only love it but you will thank me for recommending it.They take you into a special and privileged world.?It is chock full of dreamy and breathtaking pictures, all taken at various chateaus in the countryside in France from real life dinners, weddings, events and day to day life. We see these magnificent homes in the most intimate way possible through all four seasons and the?photography truly takes your breath away…I promise you will not be disappointed…there is a reason my book looks likes its as old as the chateaus featured in them! ?It is a true slice of heaven.

A GOOD SAUCE IN A JAR. ?I know…I know, I am not a “sauce in a jar” kind of gal. However I decided to try Mario Batali’s new Alla Vodka sauce, well actually I got it to prepare for my son who is a self declared?alla vodka connoisseur. Things I am loving Thursdays………

Happy Thursday!! Knee deep in house projects, as they have finally started the bathrooms…..yippee!! The sheetrock is nearly complete so its soon time to start the flooring and trim work/doors. I have waited a long long time to get to this stage and will be sure to have a little photo sesh in the next day or two and post some pictures of current progress. With spring here (hoping its coming, never can be sure given that we had snow overnight, and yes, you heard me right) we are hoping to really forge ahead with no more weather delays! As you know every Thursday I devote this post to  talking about what I am loving or what I have discovered or what I am admiring this week. Always something fun to share……let me know what you think and of course if you have something you would like to share!

BLUE AND WHITE SERVING PIECES. Love blue and white, that’s certainly no secret. But was thrilled when I found these gorgeous blue and white ikat dishes at Target!! How beautiful will these be for outdoor entertaining? And if one breaks, I dont’ have to throw a fit…..its inexpensively replaceable. Though I have noticed Target changes their merchandise so often, so I typically buy an extra set of 4 for “backup” aka breakages. I think these are just fabulous looking! (You won’t believe how reasonable these were….a lot of look for a little money) Love a bargain!

TULIPIERES. Whats not to love, they add drama, a flowery element, height and a historical elegance to any room. I have an old one that I bought at a sale many years ago in white with touches of crackled blue that looks incredible with yellow or pink tulips. What better way to announce springs arrival than with a tulipiere overflowing with Springs “poster child” flower, the gorgeous tulip!
DOG PAINTINGS. I don’t know why but I have always had an affinity for beautiful oil paintings of dogs. There is something so old world, and elegant about them, the timeless traditional pictures that they are. William Secord  Gallery in New York has the most fabulous gallery brimming with nothing but dog and animal paintings, that is their specialty. It is the only gallery of its kind..isnt’ that neat! If you want to see more click here.
PAMPERING YOUR PETS. On the subject of dogs,  I have a golden retriever that is the biggest, sweetest mush around. So every now and then, I enjoy getting him something that I know as a person, I would enjoy being given. A beautiful new bed, such as the blue toile one shown below was ordered for Teddy…..and then I got around to looking at all the other goodies at The uncommon dog’s website and was totally entertained by what else they were offering….such adorable, fun things! Most are way too small or not suitable for such a big dog, but these things were too cute to not share. How adorable are these dog houses and those strollers…..what a riot! You can visit them here.

BELL JAR LANTERNS AND OTHER LANTERNS FOR KITCHEN ISLAND. Love the elegant old world look of old fashioned bell jar lanterns. I actually love lanterns in general and would put them in every room if I could. In thinking about lighting for my island kitchen, I definitely want something old world and beautiful…probably not going for a chandelier, so looking at bell jars and other lanterns..whats your opinion?

AMAZING MARBLE TILES. You by now, know and sympathize with my obsession with them. Can’t help it….they are just so beautiful. I am in utter amazement that they can do this with stone!! Here are a bunch of incredible creations by New Ravenna and Ann Sacks, are these not like works of art?  So here are a few goodies worth sharing with you…..which is your favorite?

ANYTHING FROM TOSS DESIGNS. Ever since I discovered this fun, exciting and vibrant chic line of totes, travel bags, tunics and other small accessories I have been hooked! I make sure to start a new season with an updated something or other from Toss designs. Love their fresh prints! Be sure to stay tuned because I am going to be offering a giveaway very soon from this fabulous California based company. Below is a sampling of what they offer…check them out by going here.

WALLPAPER. Whats a post without it! But this week I am happy to report I have made some concrete decisions, granted it’s only for two small spaces, two powder rooms but I love the looks and how they both work with the marble flooring. The first one is  moving for the small library powder room, I chose a Thibaut chinoiserie which has lots of darker, rich colors, and am having a custom floor done in golds and deep Burgundy’s. Enclosed a small swatch of the stone colors.
The second one is for a powder room off the kitchen, I wanted something elegant, timeless and not stuffy. The soft yellow and white paper is beautiful, traditional and happy while the soft gray in the paper gives it a very “current” feel, the white and pale gray honed basket weave marble look great with it! Would love to know what you think.

COOL SERVING PIECES. I love entertaining though I must admit I am really rusty since we are not in our home yet. Really rusty. But in our old house, we entertained fairly often and outdoor entertaining is one of my favorite ways to have people over, its typically more casual, easier and certainly nothing beats eating outside on a perfect summer day. I love this dispenser that I just ordered…instead of holding 1 drink, its holds 3 different ones..isn’t that neat!
OK, so those are my goodies for today. Some I am already enjoying, others on my wish list. Always good and fun to dream, wish and desire! Would love to know if there is something you are loving this week…..do tell and hope you have a splendid Thursday!

Things I am loving Thursdays….

I start this day with a prayer for Japan. The devastation is beyond comprehension and it seems that every day I wake up, I have to brace myself for an even more dire report than the previous day. I pray for all the people of Japan, both those that lost their lives and those that are survivors, and for the swift recovery and healing for the country and its stoic people. Hope we will each do our part, there is nothing too small to help in this enormous relief effort. I have been recommending this link (from Time’s newsfeed) as a short, to the point list of ways one can help. Click?lick?here?for the link

I am also participating in The bloggers day of silence, tomorrow March 18th and will not have a post on Friday (will resume Sat) This is being done to raise awareness for the relief effort and how important it is for everyone to help in their own way. I ask my fellow bloggers to consider participating, if you aren’t already.

So on things I am loving Thursdays, I talk about what I am loving or what I have discovered this week. Since I am in the full throes of doing multiple things for the house, I am exposed to a great deal. Sometimes too much. Sometimes, it is overwhelming and just when I think I know what I want, BAM, I see something else that turns me in a whole new direction. Thankfully, this isn’t happening too often but when it does, I just go with it and figure there is a reason for everything! I am concentrating on getting the bathrooms done, the kitchen and carpeting for the bedrooms (yes, looks I am winning….) but below are some other goodies that I have found in my travels..some I would like to use, others to put on my wish list. Whats life without aspirations and dreams! What are yours?
INSPIRATIONS FROM WALLPAPER. Do you ever find something you fall in love with so much that you allow it to inspire you to complete a room? Well I do this all the time and I am feeling very inspired by these two papers, by Ralph Lauren. I think they would both be stunning in a powder room…..I also put the picture of a tonal marble basketweave in the middle that would work with both just to give you an idea. I love them because I love birds and the colors are elegant and timeless. ? What do you think? Do you have a favorite?
NAVY UPHOLSTERED HEADBOARD/BED. Thinking about this idea for my sons room. Very elegant, timeless and certainly very handsome/masculine especially when accented with things like nail heads and more masculine feeling fabrics. What do you think? ?I love the look paired with rich dark woods and can see it with plaids or tweed fabric as an accent. I just love the richness of the navy, though I would add more plaids and or woven fabrics.?

REPRODUCTION ACCENTS FOR THE KITCHEN. These refrigerator doors are just incredible! I love them, its too late for me now as my panels are being made as we speak but I think in the right kitchen, these could rival anything else in the kitchen as the real showstopper! (love the clock on the top of the second one…how neat)
LIQUID SOAPS AND CANDLES BY SEDA FRANCE. OK, I know this is a super teeny tiny indulgence and that’s why its so great….a cheap thrill! I normally do not get too excited over liquid soap or candles, trust me on that one. But Seda France makes the most wonderful smelling soaps and candles whose scents linger on your hands like perfume. They come in several scents, french tulip is one ?my favorites. I buy them by the half dozens….and put these gorgeous refillable bottles of liquid soap in all the bathrooms. The candles are amongst my most favorite and I am really a serial candleaholic. They now come in the gorgeous containers below which are a chinoiserie ceramic….so gorgeous! ?I have over the years tried almost every candle manufacturer, or almost all and Seda France ranks among the top two for me. Again these are scattered all over my house and the scents are so beautiful and permeate everywhere…..a treat!
GOTHIC INFLUENCE LIMESTONE MANTLES. Something so old world about these, they give a room a certain authentic appeal. We have been scouring many sources for the perfect Gothic influenced fireplace mantle for our family room. We finally found it….its very similar to the one below. An exact reproduction of a period mantle, made in limestone which has a natural “antiqued feel” to it. It will make the room and I am sure be a focal point.
GORGEOUS GREEN GRASS AND A SMALL FORMAL GARDEN IN A YARD. I love these images from Wild flower grounds, magnificent not overly landscaped yards but with an architectural quality to the landscape….a small beautiful hedge garden or pretty cutouts using grass and stone, so pretty..I must have spring fever!

REPRODUCTION PERIOD HARDWARE. I love old hardware….always been drawn to it if I see an old piece of furniture, the first thing I look at is the normally gorgeous vintage looking hardware…that has that special aged patina on it. Even the new ones meant to look old still look new, but there are some great choices out there. I am just starting to look for both my kitchen and the doors…lots of choices and am sure there are many yet to discover.
MARBLE MOSAICS. What is one of my Thursday posts without something from my favorite marble mosaic company, New Ravenna. Their imagination and creations know no bounds..they are just jaw droppingly

GREAT LINENS. I am a bedding fanatic. My justification and mantra is ?that we spend nearly half our lives in bed! Why not sleep in the best most comfortable luxurious bedding you can afford! One of my favorite companies is Home Treasures, they make beautiful incredibly soft cotton sateen bedding and sheets. The detailing can be kept simple or they can put gorgeous laces on the edges….they customize it however you would like but their attention to detail is wonderful. Many of the sets I have, I have owned for several years and they ?hold up beautifully. At the end of a ?long day, coming home to a luxurious bed swathed in the softest cool linens is the ultimate reward! If you want to indulge in a really amazing set of linens…I highly suggest these!
BOOKS. I am a definite bona fide book junkie and in particular love interior design and architecture books. Have stacks and stacks of them all over the place. Two coming out that I have just preordered that I cannot wait to receive are Charlotte Moss’s new book, Charlotte Moss decorates and the new Ferguson and Shamamian book, New Traditional Architecture..they both look wonderful!
So that about sums up what I am loving today, of course tomorrow is a whole new day! Would love to know if you like anything above or if there is something new that you are loving this week..always fun to hear. Wishing you an enchanted day.
