Random weekend musings…..

Hello there, I am soooooo happy its the? weekend. I seriously need some major downtime to do absolutely nothing. Except for dinner plans tonight, a casual BBQ tomorrow and one game, we have little on the agenda and that is music to my ears. Last week was an exceptionally crazy week, that kind of week where every single minute is accounted for, I barely had quality time with my beloved computer and blogland and I missed it so much, it’s my “happy place”. So finally a chance to sit down for a bit and catch up on all I have missed and share my weekly musings with you. Here we go……

HOUSE. One exciting thing is that I am getting closer to pulling the trigger on my chinoiserie paper for the dining room. Woo hoo! Once the chairs came in it made me want to complete that room once and for all. So I stumbled across a picture a few weeks ago that was an aha moment for me, the colors were spot on and it has since become my reference for what I want the paper to look like (though a slightly different design). Take a look and also a window treatment I am considering that I think will look fabulous in that room. I am getting exited at the thought of finishing this room!

And here is my room in its current state with its boring whitish walls…

ORCHIDS. I love orchids. Honestly to me they are actually a bargain flower. When you consider how long they last…..they are so worth the money.? Lets say you spend $75.00 on an orchid, a dozen roses or a large bunch of beautiful flowers could easily cost that and they last, what a week if you are lucky….the orchid on the other hand, at least a few months!

Its like the gift that keeps on giving. So every few months I pick up a few here and there. I have one place that carries sensational orchids which are pricey but worth it but truth be told I have picked up orchids at places like Whole Foods and Home Depot for next to nothing and had them last a long time. So picked up 8 new plants and added some to a very large tole planter from Italy that I have had a while…..

GORGEOUS TOLE. One of my most favorite things I carry in my online shop is the new custom line of tole. It is truly exceptional in every way. I have placed a few orders lately and one was my very own! I ordered the blue and white chinoiserie lamps I have been wanting for oh about eight years! I looooove them and am now working on getting the shades. Maybe this will finally prompt me to finish my room once and for all!!

?On top of that I took a little trip and got to visit the factory, I am working on a few custom lighting orders right now so it was worth the trip. This is a source that the top designers in the world use and their products grace the most sensational homes.? I was in tole nirvana, seriously the beauty stopped me dead in my tracks. I wanted one of everything!!! They work with Benjamin Moore colors and every single pieces is customized to your specifications. The work is out of this world! Click here to see my gallery online of some of the many pieces they do. Check out the beauty……

?A lantern for a current customer, primed and waiting the customization

?Love this oversized tray table…isn’t it stunning!

?Custom dog lamp….you provide a pic of your pooch and a lamp in his/her honor is made up!

?Part of the customization process..we are finalizing colors for this gorgeous lantern!

?And this one is in the works too…..love it!
?Just ordered this for a customer, isn’t she a beauty!

?LOVE these sconces too…..need to have them!
?Seriously…just being there gave me serious heart palpitations!

?Mr. Charles Faudree has used this particular one a lot…love it!
?How wonderful is this amazing mirror? Love the design and fabulous color!

?Brainstorming about where I could personally use both of these beauties!!
Ready to see my lamps? Still need the shades but here they are…….

BOOKS. Got a few books and trying to get back into my old habit of reading on a regular basis. One I just finished that was powerful and quite incredible was Brain on fire I could literally not put it down and read it in 2 days! . A true story of one women’s? terrifying account of a mysterious brain disease that takes her over, it is an incredible story! Then the two that follows are on my nightstand ready to be tackled…….

Awesome read!

NEW BEAUTY PRODUCTS!? Always enjoy sharing new products with you that I am loving. This was actually received as a gift which makes it even sweeter! But I would absolutely buy on my own (and will). This is a product I really wanted to try and then I was lucky enough to win it over at my buddy, Stacy’s blog South Shore Decorating (on a side note great blog that has an amazing plethora of interior design pictures)

Now, its only been 2 days but so far so good! It does in fact reduce the puffiness under the eyes. It contains the wonder peptite, SNAP,-8 considered to be the safe gentler alternative to Botox and red and green seaweed amongst other key ingredients. So far I am indeed a believer! Thanks Stacy!

Finally this is one of my all time favorite songs of all time, and this particular performance is sooo amazing, guaranteed to give you chills, tears and maybe both:)? That Charice is one amazing powerhouse! I want to see her in concert……

And one final thought to anyone with a daughter, you might find this funny…

hahahahaha, thought you would get a chuckle out of this one!

So that about wraps up what is new and exciting over here. Thanks so? much for stopping in and wishing you a fabulous Saturday and a wonderful weekend.

Hello there, and happy Thursday.  What’s on your agenda for Memorial Day? Hope the weather forecast is going to be a good one. Here, it looks to be fair,  not as warm as it has been earlier in the week, but clear skies except for Saturday, so I am not complaining one bit!

We were due to go away to Newport but now with my sons team in the playoffs and having mandatory practice, that plan may be changing. We have a few backup plans in case so we will see and hopefully will fit in  some downtime just “hanging”.

Orchid fever and a blizzard have struck and a winner!

Good morning, well here in NY we got socked by a blizzard of epic proportions! We are covered in  white everywhere you look!  Guess be careful what you wish for….I was moaning and groaning about the lack of snow, well mother nature certainly delivered and showed me whose boss!  I had to share some pictures because we all know everything looks prettier in snow! We were supposed to leave for Boston today but clearly we are not going, bummer but better to be safe. Hope if the snow has impacted you, you are safe and staying inside!

This batch was taken as the storm was cranking up…..

And then this is what we woke up to this morning……..22 inches later!

Forgot to show you my new lantern for the front door…..from Arte de Mexico, love it!

Next order of business I have a winner for the beautiful blue and white flower pot!
Congrats goes to……

Wow so much to love~I loved the wallpaper or mural in that dining room (the chinoiserie one). And your breakfast table setting was amazing too Tina! You continue to inspire in such a dedicated way on this blog! Nice going!

This was my original post…..so it turned into a 2 for 1!

If you have been following me for a few weeks or  for an entire year, by now you  know I do  love my orchids. They bring elegance and grace to any space they enter. Then you add a beautiful planter and the effect is dazzling. Every few months I go on an orchid binge and buy a dozen or so. Truth is even though they are pricier than a lot of other flowers, they actually end up being one of the best flower bargains because they last so long. Most cut flowers or flower plants last 2-4 weeks.

On average my orchids last I would say about 3 months, sometimes even more. So its a great investment that requires little upkeep except for water and a good amount of sun and a lot of love. I adore  them in every room and my love for orchids is one reason why I buy so many planters! I don’t think you can ever have enough:) Any fellow orchid lovers out there? I buy them from a local florist but have also picked them up at the Home Depot greenhouse. And you know what, they are really nice looking, good quality plants.  So here is  a little recap of my orchid buying day…..

It all starts with an island (a messy one) filled with all my containers. I would do this outside if it wasn’t 10 degrees!

I know these are not orchids but I had to how you my gardenais in bloom!

I know these are not orchids but just moved my oversized blue and white jar with cherry blossoms to front foyer and kind of liking it!

Love orchids in silver…so classic!
Another one of my silver crested planters from my online shop
Love this tole crown planter filled with orchids…..

So what about you? Do you love orchids too and use them in your home?  What is your favorite way to plant/pot them? I just can’t get enough and when you consider how long they last…they actually are might I even suggest economical! Hope wherever you are, you are safe and warm. Wishing you a wonderful weekend!

Orchid fever and a blizzard have struck and a winner!

Good morning, well here in NY we got socked by a blizzard of epic proportions! We are covered in? white everywhere you look!? Guess be careful what you wish for….I was moaning and groaning about the lack of snow, well mother nature certainly delivered and showed me whose boss!? I had to share some pictures because we all know everything looks prettier in snow! We were supposed to leave for Boston today but clearly we are not going, bummer but better to be safe. Hope if the snow has impacted you, you are safe and staying inside!

This batch was taken as the storm was cranking up…..

?And then this is what we woke up to this morning……..22 inches later!

If you have been following me for a few weeks or? for an entire year, by now you? know I do? love my orchids.

I adore? them in every room and my love for orchids is one reason why I buy so many planters! I don’t think you can ever have enough:) Any fellow orchid lovers out there? I buy them from a local florist but have also picked them up at the Home Depot greenhouse. And you know what, they are really nice looking, good quality plants.? So here is? a little recap of my orchid buying day…..

Random Thursday musings……..and a Mothers day giveaway!

Good morning! Hope alls well, its been a busy week for me but manageable. Does anyone wake up feeling like you need more than 24 hours to a day? I swear most days lately I feel this way…..I have had those kinds of days where it seems every minute of every hour is virtually accounted for and I am craving desperately a few days to do absolutely nothing! So I actually am listening to my own body and mind and am going to be away for a few days, taking a little break and getting away for some much needed R and R…so this post will have to suffice until Monday. I will wish you all now the happiest Mothers day possible….may it be one filled with much love, happiness, peace and above all relaxation! Would love to know what everyones up to for your special day!

Not a great deal going on in the house but I was really excited to get in some pieces from my statuary/planter line. Can I just tell you how gorgeous these pieces are!!  Anyone who has ordered these has been so delighted with their purchase, saying how they are even prettier in person and that is so true! I love the look of old stone planters and statuary but the beauty of these is that they are a fiberglass/resin composite so you can lift them with one hand! There are some cheap imitations which are pretty bad but the quality of this line is bar none.

Then they add the “aged moss” finish and voila..you have an absolutely gorgeous accent for the home or garden. Though the pieces I feature on my online store are the smaller accent pieces, they have a very extensive line and I am able to get much much bigger planters, ornaments of all kinds, statues, etc….so just inquire if you are interested. Anyway here’s a look at the line……..and a pretty giveaway (details at bottom of post)

I know I know…I get carried away with the pictures, can’t help myself but when there is something beautiful to get excited about….it makes me very happy!
Also meet my newest buddy, Mabel the cow and her sidekick, the bucket. Is this the cutest creamer and sugar bucket you have ever seen? Got a few in for orders, absolutely ordering one for myself, wish I could keep these!!

Last the dough bowls I carry are real antique dough bowls, not replicas. Therefore no two are alike. They are such gorgeous special pieces. I have had many requests for small round ones. Well just got in 3 small round ones, 12″-13″..so its the only 3 I have, if you purchase online, just indicate you want one of the smaller ones. Here they are…..

On the homefront, a few things about to happen, next week window treatments going into my bathroom, and window seat getting put in……mirror is getting put in on my island. Small things, but still fun and must say I decided recently I need to “step it up” and get this house going. Things are moving forward but some of it is behind the scenes and yet there are other things I need to make a priority, like ordering living room furniture! I am also really anxious to order furniture for the outside loggia/covered porch. I know its a room we will enjoy at least 8-9 months of the year so would love to get that done soon. Wallpaper is soon to arrive for my powder room, which I cannot wait for! I will be sure to share it all as it happens…….
Aren’t these plaques I just got in pretty? Love their old world appeal….thinking of putting up in my mud room/back stair hall area even though I order them for my sons room! May need another pair…they are going to be added to online store in the next few days, best part is they are super reasonable!

This little planter looks good everywhere!

A few new vases, added to my French chests in the living room. I like to “play” and since there is absolutely nothing in the room except the rug and my two chests, it can use all the help it can get!

                                                            And chest #2…………….

                                                                Close up……

                                                       Back to chest #1………………

Proof of my “you can never have too much blue and white” mantra!
And finally a giveaway to celebrate how much I am loving my statuary/planter line and Mothers day. There are two giveaways today….. I am giving away one of these darling mini urns/ bowls, it could be used for a plant, flower or fruit as I have shown. Then I am also giving away one of my beautiful frames that I just got in a few days ago….such a gorgeous collection of small jewel like frames! SO two lucky winners will be selected, one gets the small planter and another gets the frame.
