Want to see my new virtual dream beach house? Come on inside…..

This simply could not wait another hour……I interrupt my normal blog posts to bring you my dream beach house. Virtually I have been  looking for my “dream beach house” and I have at long last found it.  We are a match made in heaven if there ever was one. It has everything I want from being ocean front to having a pool and tennis court, a tennis pavillion…sure why not! Gorgeous interiors, even a touch of blue and white, ocean views for miles…it is absolutely a match made in heaven!!  First time in nearly 40 years this treasure is being offered up for sale…a Hamptons gem to be sure, and its located on swanky Gin Lane to boot!

I nearly fainted when I saw it, it is soooooo goregous. Granted this is hardly your typical “beach shack”, not a weathered gable for miles, no rustic driftwood, no siree…but this is a house that is just a “knock your socks off” kind of house. Oh the parties I could have! Ready to see my virtual new beach house (hey one can dream, best part it’s free)! Here we go, as you scroll, be sure to visualize the sound and image of crashing waves and seagulls flying about…….

What a compound! It has everything and then to be on the sparkling Atlantic…..perfection!

 Love this room….

Beautiful dining room, love the chandy and sconces!
I love the feeling of the kitchen and wouldn’t change a thing!

Stunning bedroom suite….love the soft colors
See the blue and white? Its calling me!

This is such a cozy spot….I would hold my afternoon Scrabble and Monopoly game sessions in here….

This is a view I could certainly get used to waking up to!
Champagne please………
 Another gorgeous elegant room…..

I will have my coffee and croissants here ever morning, thank you.

 Lovely for afternoon cocktails…….

This is totally meant to be….this room has my name all over it.
There it is again…that blue and white beckoning!
Wow…now that is what I call a tennis pavillion!
 Lovely……
I just love the feeling of this bath…its old fashioned but so elegant

Great playroom…..love the neutral tonal look

Well……..what do you think? Amazing or what!! It’s rare for me to see a house where I would virtually change nothing. OK if I am being picky I might swap out the striped cushions on the outdoor furniture for ivory solids and add my blue and white pillows 🙂 But that is it! Now if you just happen to be in the  market for a $45 million dollar beach house in tony Southampton, click here to notify the broker immediately that you want the contracts mailed  pronto but please I ask one favor, instead of paying me my finders fee….just let me have an unlimted “free pass” as a guest to visit anytime I please. Deal?  Hope you enjoyed…..

Back to reality, don’t forget to visit my Mad for monograms post and be sure to leave a comment so you are eligible for the giveaway! Today is the last day, I will announce a winner of the lovely autographed Monogram issues by Victoria. Its a keeper! Wishing you a wonderful Sunday and relaxing end to your week. Pillow heaven…..

Hi there! Hope everyone had a wonderful and safe July 4th holiday. Ours was relaxing and enjoyable. Our plans were slightly derailed (thanks to teenagers who would rather be with their friends than parents) but we ended up not taking our trip to Maine and instead ended up going to the Hamptons. I was at first, extremely disappointed but it turned out to be a lot of fun and we were blessed with amazing weather so no complaints….still got my share of lobster rolls, a bit of shopping, beachtime  and other indulgences! Maine will have to wait maybe until later in the summer. So its back to business and I must admit I missed blogging and checking in with all my blogging friends so it’s awfully  nice to be back!

I love pillows. Have a feeling I have a loooot of company. Lets face it, they are an inexpensive way to totally changing up a space without breaking the bank or having to visit your local furniture store for a total redo. They can  add so much to a space and today’s selection is as vast as its ever been. When I was looking for pillows for the loggia furniture, I was getting frustrated. I knew exactly what I wanted but I just wasn’t finding it. I found something pretty close at Frontgate but had a hard time justifying $160 a pop for a basic cotton pillow, not even including trim! And then even with that price tag I liked it, didn’t love it.

Soon I turned to Etsy, figuring there’s a reason so many talk about it and lo and behold I was in pillow nirvana. Suddenly I had too many choices…that should be my biggest problem! So I ended up ordering two batches figuring I would “play” and play I did. So below are pictures (some of which you might have seen) of the two sets of pillows…honestly love them both but Schumachers Chiang Mia has always had a special place in my heart so this is the one that shall remain. The others, the ikat might be used for the pool (totally works) or for the outdoor furniture on the main patio coming any day. I also am including my own little mood board of the final contenders and then the Etsy sites of the two wonderful women I dealt with who were both a total pleasure and produced high quality well priced merchandise! So here we go….

My mood board featuring the final contenders…it was a tough choice admittedly!
The first batch I got in were the ikat and geometric courtesy of  Motif Pillows. She has an absolutely gorgeous selection of pillows and I am certain I will be shopping with her again! Motif pillows were just stunning, click here to visit her online shop.  Below are a few of her recent offerings, all so pretty!

And here are my own pillows from her on display……

Then I got the pillows in from Studio Trullia  and it was love at first sight. She produces really high quality pillows and uses wonderful fabrics. Her customer service was fantastic as well as as her accommodations and turnaround time. Click here to visit her shop and here are a few pillows from her shop currently being offered, all gorgeous once again!

And here is my heap ready to find their home…..

So ultimately the Chiang Mai won out, I just love it..it is what was in my head the entire time. Waiting on two more lumbars and the solid ivory with navy tape (last pic) and I am done here. Really love the final result…….

I ordered two of these but in the reverse, ivory with navy tape…should be here next week!

And here are a few more wonderful pillow sources on Etsy worth sharing….

Ylaylas on Etsy

So the bottom line is this……….I found ultimately exactly what I had been looking for. LOVE what I have and cannot wait to do more! I don’t need to look anywhere else but Etsy, seriously there are sooooo many amazing pillow resources and for the most  part they are all so much less than their competition (the big names) plus I was happy to support a small business owner and in turn got exactly what I wanted.

So if pillows are by chance something you are in the market for by all means do take a look at the two resources I mentioned here and Etsy in general, there are so many wonderful finds! Happy pillow shopping and thanks for stopping in! Wishing you a wonderful weekend and be back on Monday!

Designer Spotlight: John Jacob Interiors- an encore!

Hi there and happy new week to you. Hope you had a fabulous weekend.  Here the sun and beautiful weather finally decided to pay us a visit so it was wonderful…we had such a nice time at the party on Saturday (and yes my white pants and strappy sandals worked out great)! The home and setting so magnificent that as a blogger who wants to share the beauty, it was ridiculously tempting to not whip out my iPhone and not start snapping away but it was more of a dinner party (for 20) as opposed to a party and it didn’t feel right but I would so loved to have shared….the outdoor areas alone were jaw dropping! Sunday was our relaxing day and much needed. Hope whatever you did was fun and just want you wanted.

As I did with my Leta Austin Foster post, I am doing an encore performance for another designer whose work I greatly admire, John Jacob Interiors. Based in Cape Town, South Africa, this man is unbelievably talented! I had posted on him almost two years ago and since then he has added some truly spectacular rooms to his arsenal of great work. I, at first glance knew I had to share it with those of you not familiar with this uber talented designer.

I love his aesthetic and his flawless sense of proportion, color and of course his liberal use of black which gives an elegant drama to every room he touches.  I was excited to see he also has a blog!

I will let the pictures do the talking…….enjoy! Warning…some of these pictures could literally cause heart palpitations so pace yourself!!

How many ways can I say how much I LOVE this bathroom? Dreamy!
Spectacular in every way!
I want these prints!

Talk about an interesting eclectic beautiful room!

This is  a “wow” space for sure!

Stunning details in this bathroom…..
Dreamy with a capital D!

How fabulous…neutral never looked so good.

YES!! I love the black against the blue and white……

Are you dying from the beauty? I love how he uses lots of black, neutral putty/greige like colors and of course see he has added my beloved blue and white to his rooms. I am just floored by the beauty, the layering effect he applies and his genius way of accessorizing. John Jacob…your rock! Have a favorite room here? I would be torn by several but have to say those rooms with the neutrals and touches of blue and white send my senses into overdrive. Click here to see more John Jacob Interiors. And if you want to see the equally stunning post on his work that I did almost two years ago, click here. Hope you enjoyed! Wishing you a great start to your week.

Don’t forget about the giveaway for the Betty Lou Phillips book. Click on this post to leave a comment and be eligible (you must leave a comment on that post to be in the running)!

Late week musings…..

Hello, can’t believe it’s Friday. Having been away for part of the week, it really feels like it flew! Hope you are well and have had a good week. I will be out of town today but will hopefully be back with a post on Sunday, if not for sure Monday. Wishing you a fabulous spring weekend, let’s get started…….

My house. Everything is in bloom around here and I am loving it! The azaleas are magnificent in all their vivid pinks and reds, normally I am a “white flower” kind of gal but have to say I make an exception for these beauties…against the backdrop of the lush greenery coming into bloom, everything looks so pretty. I forgot just how beautiful spring is, have a look……..

This is my favorite spot on our property, an old pond/fountain (no longer in use) but we are restoring it. We kept the landscape just as it’s always been, mature and very lush…it truly feels like a little enchanted garden, and there is the original birdbath which we also kept in the same place, its a very special serene place……

The little “trail” that leads up to the house………..

Great food. You can always count on me to come up with something good on this subject! If I wasn’t on a diet, this is what I would be attempting to make, how good does this look!!!!!!!! Visit the Greedy Gourmand here to get the lowdown on how to  make it……it’s as pretty as delicious I am sure!

The Mayflower Inn and Spa. Just in case you missed my post/review on my recent stay at this incredible place, you must visit the post, click here.

Artwork. I had sweet Jeanne of I dream of make up my logo, she is a very talented artist and she did a spectacular job. I had shared the completed work here last year but just recently got the original art and it is just so beautiful. Jeanne  had to take some time off due to a relative’s illness but hopefully she will be back in blogland soon, I know her presence has been missed greatly. I am so happy to have this beautiful artwork as a keepsake of her amazing talent.  Thanks again Jeanne!

Crests. I have such a “thing” for them….am always drawn to them. Was in an antique shop a few weeks ago in CT. and spotted this spectacular set of antique prints beautifully framed, so excited!! I needed to do a minor repair on them and they are back and ready to be hung! There are so many places I could put these……

Shop news. I am adding a bunch of new wonderful Staffordshire doggies to my shop. Dogs remain super popular and are just a wonderful decorative motif for virtually any kind of home. Some of these are bigger than some of my current ones and then I am adding some fabulous colors like orange, pink and red in the minis! Aren’t they beautiful! These will up for sale by the weekend.

Love this family of dogs……wonderful!

Love this family! 7 X 6.5 X 3
Mini Staffordshires in fun colors, too cute…..

And this larger pair in orange…..
8.6 x 6 x 9
How cute are these (comes with one left and one right facing dog)  8 x 5 x 11 (comes in 2 colorways)

And very excited about a few new exceptionally beautiful additions to the statuary line (I literally want one of everything)…..all of these as of today will be up in my online store! This line is just exceptoinal, and every item is offered in one of 6 finishes…the white moss (shown) being the most popular.

Adore this dog holding the basket of flowers, perfect for flanking a front door or on a patio 9 x 16 x 24
And this stunning planter shown on the garland pedestal, also both now listed (I have ordered this identical pair for myself)…….
And how beautiful is this for a garden, a trio of cherubs….love it!   19 x 19 x 23

And this beautiful  shell urn finial atop something or placed on the ground as a pair, very elegant, 8 x10 x 15

And this beautiful oversized acorn finial, beautiful atop something or as a pair by a door…14 x 14 x 29 (also comes in one size smaller)……..

22 x 7 x 30 Beautiful crest frieze

Cromel overdoor frieze…love this!! 32 x 18 x 4

So there you have it! That’s what new and exciting over here. What’s going on in your world? Do you have spring fever yet?  Hope the sun is shining over where you are and wishing you a wonderful day and end to your week. Be back soon……have a great weekend!

By Invitation Only….Camelot!

Hi there, its our monthly By Invitation Only post and this is it until the fall! (We are taking a break during the summer months since everyone will be scattered about during the summer). Marsha of Splenderosa  came up with the concept of each of us posting on Camelot. Open to interpretation…..it will be fun  to see what all the girls in the group come up with!

For me first and foremost the first image that comes to mind is of JFK and Jackie….but of course! How could it not! They signified an American Camelot, don’t you agree? So I have to start this post off with a picture of the iconic couple……..

Then I started thinking about a modern day Camelot. What does it mean? What would it look like?  Camelot, the mythical magical castle supposedly that belonged to King Arthur is still a mystery, its true location never really known. Yet the term Camelot stays so alive in our imaginations, talked about from generation to generation….a testament to how important it is for us to dream and to aspire, old and young alike.

So just roll with me here! I came up with an inside and outside look at what my own modern day Camelot might look like (in my overactive imagination)! This is what I came up with, just think a timeless classic gem, one that will stand the test of time………….where everything is beautiful and the simple pleasures are enjoyed and cherished in the most elegant way possible!

Where the long shady driveway might look like this…….

Passing the horses grazing along the way up to the house…….

The “greeting committee” at Camelot…..

Camelot…a home that befits such a name
With an elegant front porch that looks something like this….perfect for early morning coffee and watching the sun come up…..

Where canines rule, no room is off limits!

Where the rear foyer might open onto a beautiful manicured field like this…….
Where pristine and perfect gardens are everywhere you look…….
And secret gardens wait for your discovery!

A home where every room, though grand and gorgeous, has a feeling of “worn in elegance” that beckons you in…..

Where the guest rooms rival that of the finest hotels you have ever stayed in
With a bathroom and tub to match……

And where slippers like these are waiting for you to slip into….. (you’re not surprised are you)?

And where the sitting rooms, a rhapsody of blue and white invite you to linger for hours…..

And monogrammed everything is de rigeur ….

Where all the foods for the daily meals are centered around what’s picked from the garden that morning..rest assured it’s delicious!

Breathtaking views can be expected from every window over at Camelot!
Even that of the porte cochere which houses a collection of fabulous vintage roadsters….

Camelot, a place where time really does stand still, long enough to sit down and write an old fashioned thank you note (no texting or emailing a thank you allowed)!

A grand drawing room where everyone gathers after dinner for a little nightcap

And smaller intimate spaces that beg you to get cozy in with a great book…..

A ballroom sized kitchen that can accommodate prepping for parties for hundreds and hundreds…..

A dining room that can handle heads  of state, heated family debates and lengthy formal dinners of all kinds…….

Camelot…a place with more than one reading room….for all those books you have nothing but time to devour!

Where closets are the stuff girly girl dreams are made of!

Meals are always a white tablecloth, silver charger, and fancy linens affair…….

Where daily crisp white linens are changed on the bed and finished with a spritz of lavender spray

And where urns of beautiful flowers and plants are changed weekly…….

A place where picnics are  commonplace

And when you aren’t going on a picnic you might ride for acres and acres on your own mare or stallion

And when you come back, look what might be waiting for you…a chilled mint julep in a monogrammed cup!

Camelot, a home where legendary Christmas’s are right  out of a storybook…….
And where the drawing room can be converted to a beautiful ballroom for a family wedding

Where a gorgeous little gazebo at the waters edge holds your personal small boat for when you want to jaunt”across the lake” to catch a drink or late day coffee with a friend…….
Holding your chinoiserie umbrella of course! (and yes this includes the glass of Bordeaux you see there)!!

Well as they say if you are going to dream you  might as well dream B I G, right? One can dream! I always say I was born in the wrong era, society moves too fast for me today, I want it to slow dooooooown. WAY down. This modern day Camelot certainly would be quite a fantasy as life is so fast paced today, I find it is harder to take the time to really enjoy the simple pleasures in life. I think Camelot is a vision and a concept of magical perfection more than anything else, very much alive  in our imaginations that has been revered and celebrated for centuries.

True, this doesn’t apply to 99.9% of us, but I think we can all have our own little Camelots…..by making our own homes places we love to live in, share with others and fill with love. By Invitation Only….Camelot!

Hi there, its our monthly By Invitation Only post and this is it until the fall! (We are taking a break during the summer months since everyone will be scattered about during the summer). Marsha of Splenderosa? came up with the concept of each of us posting on Camelot. Open to interpretation…..it will be fun? to see what all the girls in the group come up with!

For me first and foremost the first image that comes to mind is of JFK and Jackie….but of course! How could it not! They signified an American Camelot, don’t you agree? So I have to start this post off with a picture of the iconic couple……..

Then I started thinking about a modern day Camelot. What does it mean? What would it look like??

?Where the long shady driveway might look like this…….

?Passing the horses grazing along the way up to the house…….

The “greeting committee” at Camelot…..

Camelot…a home that befits such a name
?With an elegant front porch that looks something like this….perfect for early morning coffee and watching the sun come up…..

Where canines rule, no room is off limits!

?Where the rear foyer might open onto a beautiful manicured field like this…….
?Where pristine and perfect gardens are everywhere you look…….
And secret gardens wait for your discovery!

A home where every room, though grand and gorgeous, has a feeling of “worn in elegance” that beckons you in…..

?Where the guest rooms rival that of the finest hotels you have ever stayed in
With a bathroom and tub to match……

And where slippers like these are waiting for you to slip into….. (you’re not surprised are you)?

?And where the sitting rooms, a rhapsody of blue and white invite you to linger for hours…..

And monogrammed everything is de rigeur ….

Where all the foods for the daily meals are centered around what’s picked from the garden that morning..rest assured it’s delicious!

?Breathtaking views can be expected from every window over at Camelot!

A dining room that can handle heads? of state, heated family debates and lengthy formal dinners of all kinds…….

Camelot…a place with more than one reading room….for all those books you have nothing but time to devour!

Where closets are the stuff girly girl dreams are made of!

?Meals are always a white tablecloth, silver charger, and fancy linens affair…….

?Where daily crisp white linens are changed on the bed and finished with a spritz of lavender spray

And where urns of beautiful flowers and plants are changed weekly…….

A place where picnics are? commonplace
?

And when you aren’t going on a picnic you might ride for acres and acres on your own mare or stallion

And when you come back, look what might be waiting for you…a chilled mint julep in a monogrammed cup!

Camelot, a home where legendary Christmas’s are right? out of a storybook…….
And where the drawing room can be converted to a beautiful ballroom for a family wedding

?Where a gorgeous little gazebo at the waters edge holds your personal small boat for when you want to jaunt”across the lake” to catch a drink or late day coffee with a friend…….
?Holding your chinoiserie umbrella of course! (and yes this includes the glass of Bordeaux you see there)!!

Well as they say if you are going to dream you? might as well dream B I G, right? One can dream! I always say I was born in the wrong era, society moves too fast for me today, I want it to slow dooooooown. WAY down. This modern day Camelot certainly would be quite a fantasy as life is so fast paced today, I find it is harder to take the time to really enjoy the simple pleasures in life. I think Camelot is a vision and a concept of magical perfection more than anything else, very much alive? in our imaginations that has been revered and celebrated for centuries.

True, this doesn’t apply to 99.9% of us, but I think we can all have our own little Camelots…..by making our own homes places we love to live in, share with others and fill with love. We can all buy fresh flowers, light beautiful candles, play beautiful music…..all the pretty little touches that can bring a little “Camelot” into our lives, what do you think? How do you see your personal Camelot?
