Which would you choose?

Good evening from icy, snowy, messy New York.? Yesterday it was snow, today we are in the midst of a serious snow/ice storm. CRAZY weather, this is a winter surely to go down in the history books! I am so over winter, and praying for an early spring. Moving along…..

I cannot tell you how touched I was by all of the comments regarding my empty nester post yesterday and all the emails I received too…not only did you offer such? amazing and encouraging advice but honestly the kindness bestowed upon me brought tears to my eyes, thanks to you I am now feeling a wee bit more optimist about my soon to be empty nester status:) Whether you are an empty nester, soon to be one, or still have little ones at home…..reading over the comments is heartwarming and if you have an extra few minutes, I really encourage you to do so (click here). They would make a wonderful book! Thank you, I know I will refer back to it time and time again:)

So imagine this, the furniture fairy has paid you a visit…she is going to grant you with one wave of her wand a brand new fully done up living room! So imagine for a minute, one of these gets to be yours…which would it be? I set it up poll style…and since there are so many pretties, you can vote for two, so think hard:)

Mr. and Mrs. Howard and a giveaway!

Good morning! I had the opportunity to attend an intimate Q&A with Mr. and Mrs. Howard over at the spectacular Safavieh Showroom in Stamford, CT.? yes….that talented duo that produces some of my all time favorite rooms…..rooms that fill? endless pages in blogland and Pinterest boards. What a lovely, charming and talented couple they are! I loved hearing about their story, how they got started in their business….and as with most things in life, when something is meant to be, it somehow just “happens” in a rather effortless way. Their story is wonderful, heart warming, inspiring and proof that when you have a passion for something and follow your heart, sometimes amazing things can happen and the rest will follow…..their wild success is certainly a tribute to that!! I also love that they are a husband and wife team……that in itself is a huge feat:)

Their new line for Sherrill furniture is absolutely gorgeous. There isn’t a piece of furniture there I would be delighted to add to my own home. It is traditional but has a current/modern edge that makes the furniture highly appealing and most appropriate for today’s slightly more casual lifestyle. I love that nearly every piece is made in the U.S.A. (worth its weight in gold)! Sherrill produces excellent quality, extremely comfortable and affordable furniture,? it’s no wonder that they are a very popular “go to” source for so many designers. The Mr. and Mrs Howard furniture line feels much like their namesake rooms do, welcoming, elegant, crisp and clean, warm and sophisticated.

Phoebe was so kind to sign a copy of her exquisite new bestselling book, The Joy of Decorating for one of my lucky readers. I have owned this book since it came out and have referred to it countless times, enjoyed hearing their stories and love how the book is categorized by themes. It is a true feast for the senses!

?I am quite sure, that many of you, being the savvy design loving readers you are,? own this book but for those that don’t this is one of those “must haves” that belongs in every design lovers home. So I am giving away a signed book to one lucky winner! Lets take a look at rooms that have received the Howard magic and a few favorite pieces from The Sherrill Collection, then details follow on the bottom………

Some exquisite new pieces from the Sherrill Collection for Mr. and Mrs. Howard…..

And while their rooms need no introduction……here’s a look at some of my personal favorites!

?This is one of my all time favorite bedrooms (for anyone who has been reading my blog a long time, you know this)!

?This could make me want to call in sick every day!

Love everything, every tine detail about this space…..recognize the belljar?

?Love the cocoon like feeling of this sumptuous bedroom…..

Pretty spectacular wouldn’t you say?? The book is filled with so many stunning images front to back….a true keeper. To me, their rooms always feel like walking onto a perfect billowy cloud, my absolute favorite feeling for a room. They design and decorate a “Howard room” with just the right amount of elegance, sophistication and clean lines sprinkled with a healthy dose of soft colors and lots of lovely painted finishes. Do you notice not a lot of pattern in their rooms? I think this is why they are so pleasing to the eye and why they are no doubt, a household name for anyone in the know:)

So how to win this wonderful signed book…..visit them over at Sherrill Furniture , come back here and tell me your favorite item from their new collection. Want a second chance? Subscribe to become a reader on her blog, which by the way is really fantastic, filed with all kinds of valuable “how tos” and I love their weekly before and afters. Phoebe is really generous in sharing her talent, knowledge and expertise through her blog. I will announce one lucky winner on Monday!

Want to see even more of their work, click here to visit their website.

Many thanks as always for stopping in and wishing you a fabulous Thursday!

Also on a sidenote, by popular demand was able to get 10 more sets of these gorgeous appetizer/dessert plates. Many emailed me but I had none left to sell, they sold out? almost right away. Email me at theenchantedhome@gmail.com if you want to place an order, they are ready to go!

?Gorgeous assorted scalloped dessert/appetizer plates. Measures 6.5″ square. A set of assorted patterns is $38.00. So elegant, and a perfect size.

Bonkers over belljars!

Hi there, hope you are having a wonderful weekend.? Well its obvious that I love belljar lighting. Besides the fact that I sell them, have them in my own home, I have also used them for different design jobs that I have worked on and find them to be some of the most versatile lighting out there. They are classically beautiful and with the different designs, they can lean more towards very traditional all the way to more modern. I love them!

As I am starting to wrap up some lighting decisions in my own home (a number of areas that still do not have lighting), I had a “aha” moment and realized that the perfect solution was under my nose the entire time! The belljars of course. So, several are en route to me as we speak and I can hardly wait!

I particularly love my line (yes I am partial) as they are done with beautiful hand etched detailing…very special plus the heavy discount makes them even prettier:) So today a look at gorgeous belljars and all their many possibilities. How about you? Own any? Would like to? Putting this post together has me wanting to put belljars in every room! Take a look and see what you think….

?This is so beautiful! Phoebe Howard strikes again
?They work beautifully in a more cottage type room….this is such a pretty space!
I love this idea for a reading nook…..perfect! Marcus Design

?A trio works beautifully above a kitchen island!

?Beautiful belljar looks perfect in this sumptuous bathroom

The bedroom chronicles part 1

Before I begin the bedroom chronicles, I have to share two things with you.

For anyone who was interested in the dough bowls last round…but was not able to get one (they sell out really fast) I was lucky to snag another 6. My vendor called yesterday that he was unloading the last of a container from Belgium? and they just opened up a large armoire to see 6 bowls hiding in there! So he offered them to me, they are approx.? 20-27′ and as are all the bowls from this vendor, they are GORGEOUS! So email me here if you want one (I feel like these are kids that I am putting up for adoption every time I get some in)

Second, one of the many perks of blogging is the exchange of information and vast resources that come our way. Do you believe in miracles? I do, and was completely touched by this story, of a young girl affectionately nicknamed “Soup”. Just so happens Soup is the cousin of one of the dearest people in all of blogland, Suzanne from Privet and Holly. It is also happens that she has leukemia.?

Soup has one big wish, to meet up with Carrie Underwood….want to help that become? a reality? Watch this video and pass it on! She is determined that somewhere along the way Carrie may see it. Such a beautiful girl and that smile could light up a room. Say a prayer for Soup, I know I am. Thank you Suzanne!? You must watch this…..and if you want to see Suzanne’s amazingly beautiful post click here.

Is she the cutest thing ever??? Please pass this on……once you see this you can’t forget it! Rooting for you Soup!

Hi there, well I alluded to the fact last week that my bedroom is finally getting the attention its long deserved. This really should have been done first, but the discontinuing of that darn wallpaper threw me into a tizzy and the bedroom got put on the back burner. Now almost 9 months later, I am ready to put the pedal? to the? metal on this room aka my private sanctuary ! I think few rooms are as important as a bedroom. After all you spend nearly half your day there.

?At the end of a long and hard day, is there anything better than walking into your bedroom, closing the door (and eyes) and just breathing in the peace and serenity. I don’t think so…I live for those moments! A lot of people ask me about how I go about starting a room. I generally advise that in a perfect world…its best to start from the ground up, if you are able. OR if there is something that has struck your fancy, whether it be a wallpaper, a lamp, a decorative object, a pillow, often times those things can inspire an entire room to come together.

So in my case, since the wallpaper that once inspired me to do this room soup to nuts did not work out….I am starting with the carpet. After a battle of wood floors vs. carpet alas my husband finally gets that carpeting feels sooooo good and toasty on our feet especially in the dead of winter. So we have finally decided to go for it. Its now narrowed down to two wonderful choices (below). I have also included a snippet of the magnificent monogrammed bedding my mom gave us for a housewarming gift, cannot wait to put it on! And then what follows are some beautiful bedroom inspirations for my bedroom. Tonal, soft, tranquil, serene, cloud like are words that? shape my vision. Ready? Let s go!

The carpet…here are the two front runners and a snippet of the gorgeous gray blue monogrammed bedding (on ivory)…….

?This is with the blue background…..

?And this one with the ivory background…..

? So its between the two with the blues……….would love to know your pick!

Have had these lamps in my vision for ages…………and they will become mine!!!!!!

A touch of blue and white in a bedroom…heck yes!

And here are some images that have been in my dream bedroom file for a while for one reason or another…..

These are “my colors” love the monogram, elegant retrained canopy, the overall feeling is just right!

Love the tonal feel, so soothing and of course LOVE the monogram! Check out the beautiful shirring detail on the top, Phoebe Howard?
Not my colors but do love this bed canopy, not too “frou frou” so my husband can still feel like a man in his own bedroom….lol
Love the idea of two chairs and an ottoman in front of the fireplace….sooo cozy! Brunschwig and Fils

?Love the softest hint of color here and the creamy white, has such an ethereal effect! Belclaire House

?This room looks so inviting, love the plumpness of the bedding, the fireplace and the pretty chair and ottoman, and is that a blue and white vase I spy! Jean Randazzo

?Is this not saying just jump in now and don’t leave!! This could be a hard bed to leave in the morning:)

Do love a bench and the soft draping, beautiful warm colors make this so inviting and elegant, Eubanks

I would feel like a princess! P.Howard
Love the softness, all the light and airiness……BHG

Talk about elegance meets cozy….I could sit there and read for hours and hours!

This is the very picture of soft, serene and spectacular, love the scalloped detail on the window treatment

Of course love the monogram and interesting headboard, Good Life of Design

A classic, soft and feminine, beautiful bench, love the carpet, Cathy Kincaid

One of my faves, love the bed the scale, colors and window treatment, Traditional Home
A beautiful room. Period. Kelly Proxmire

Soft and elegant, love the pale blues, the drapes and how inviting this feels. Kelly Proxmire

?

?

Do you see a common theme? Light? Check. Pale blue? Check. Soft and serene? Check. Billowy light flowy fabrics? Check. Mushy gushy bedding that you can literally sink into? Check check!

Gorgeous soft lighting? Check. Though these are each different, they all have a certain dreamlike/cocoon- ish quality to them. That is very important to how I want my bedroom to feel. I am getting excited about getting this off the ground, now that some of the elements are coming into place. Once I decide on the carpet, (want to order it by this weekend)…..I will be well on my way! Here’s a little mood board I made to give the overall vibe of the room still a work in progress you gives you an idea………so tell me whats important to you in a master bedroom??

?

Thanks for stopping by! More to come on this subject. Much more:) Have a wonderful Friday.

Here’s a little mood board I made to give the overall vibe of the room still a work in progress you gives you an idea………so tell me whats important to you in a master bedroom?

Thanks for stopping by! More to come on this subject. Much more:) Have a wonderful Friday.

Canopies, Caronas and Crowns…..oh my!

Happy Wednesday to you! As I am starting to finally think seriously about my guest room and my own bedroom (at long last), one look I am continuously drawn is canopied beds and beds with crowns. Yes, it is very classic and traditional, having been done for centuries but now you also see it being done with a modern twist to give it a fresher cleaner feel. Its a beautiful way to use a favorite fabric or combination of fabrics and just feels so “cocoonlike”.?

I remember the very first?time I slept in a bed with a soaring crown was in a beautiful hotel room in Belgium about 15 years ago. I felt like a royal and must say I had an awfully great nights rest. So….am sure I want to do the same thing in ?my own guest room and today’s post is a tribute to all the wonderful treatments that can be applied to a bed. What are your thoughts? Is it a like? A love? Would love to know! Here we go………feast your eyes on these beauties!

Love this serene oasis of a room, the scale of the room makes it feel majestic, Veranda
