Fall urns, new items for the shop and a hello!

Hi there! What a hectic chock full week I have had….been super duper busy and have not had the downtime I so crave (which means almost no time in blogland). So I am tickled pink about getting to stay home today and finally relaaaaax and just do whatever I please, and let me tell its not much. Ever have one of those weeks where every minute is accounted for? Well…that was my week. Busy making candy sushi for my sons annual fair with eight friends (2 days of work),? Went to a beautiful surprise birthday party at the Union League Club in NYC, dinner plans, all good stuff but I am exhausted! So happy its all over with:) Here is whats happening…..

Excited to have added some gorgeous new pillows which are now up in my online shop. There are pillows and there are pillows. A LOT of new pillows! I do really well with these pillows…and hear so often that good pillows are increasingly harder to find? Most people when they get these, email to tell me how beautiful they are and how much more luxurious they are up close and personal. They are exceptional!

?They are overstuffed with? wonderful down/feather pillows, are backed in a luxurious cotton velvet, trimmed in beautiful coordinating trims and done with the best quality hand needlepoint. Really classic and best part is there is really something for everyone. Whether you re in a cozy cabin, a sleek transitional apartment, a refined country home, a coastal abode…whatever style you claim as your own..there’s a pillow for it!!

Many of you loved the new line of capes/wraps I am going to be carrying. I already got orders for these beauties and they will be up on the shop under personal accessories by Tuesday. I always say I only carry what I truly love and would use in my own home/life. I discovered this line almost 10 years ago and treasure the pieces I have, so classic. So in the meantime,? I am going to be offering these at a special introductory price before they go online. So for the next two days I am offering the following deals-

These are made of the finest baby alpaca that exists. As soft as cashmere, they do not pill, and my wrap from them (9 years old)! looks brand new. This is the ultimate in chic dressing and honestly to me, something every woman should have in her wardrobe. These are perfect for when you don’t want to wear a heavy coat, look great with jeans as well as the dressiest dress. I guarantee you will LOVE these!

Crochet trimmed classic cape ( I own this one) I have charcoal, gray taupe and black $275.00

Same cape but reversible! Ivory/beige, light gray/dark gray and taupe/charcoal $345.00
Cape with fringe trim taupe, light gray, black, dark gray $275.00

Started working on my fall urns by my front door. I have had so little time that they are not yet done but I do love how they are coming out. I must say the statuary line I carry has been AMAZING, not only are they so? beautiful and look like aged statuary? but the fact that I can so easily pick these up with one hand and carry them around makes them extra amazing. I will be adding new styles in the next week. So here is a look at the work in progress…..hope to finish them up today or tomorrow!

?These babies are still going strong so I felt bad ripping them out, so replanted them in another planter to let them live out their last days…..

?All good things are worth a little mess……

?I love all the unusual variations in pumpkins today…..so pretty!

?Not done but this is it so far……..

So that is what I will be up today….finishing up the front door for fall, hopefully stealing a few hours to watch something good, I am feeling like an old favorite standby like It’s Complicated or Midnight in Paris or The Horse Whisperer, some movies just don’t get old, and maybe cook up something good, I am craving a home cooked meal:)

?Don’t forget today s the last day to put your name in the hat for the Phoebe Howard signed book giveaway! You dont’ want to miss the chance to enter….its one of my favorite design books. Click here to visit the post where you can get the lowdown.

Hope whatever you are up to today, is wonderful and relaxing….thanks for stopping in! Until tomorrow……

My weekend as seen through my iphone…..

?REMINDER- Last day to enter the giveaway from The Enchanted Home over at Art by Karena. Click here to enter!

This is a short fun post. Hope you are having a wonderful and enjoyable weekend. Ours is going well…..my son ended up not going to his tournament ?which secretly was kind of amazing to me so it allowed me a little extra free downtime, always a huge treat! We enjoyed having friends over, a beautiful dinner out, a trip to a favorite garden center,? a visit to a local farmstand that just opened and today we are going to a few more garden centers and then a graduation party later in the day.

?Since my poor camera (heavily abused) is now officially “in retirement”? I have to rely on my iphone. Just got the new iPhone 5 a few days ago and will concede that the camera is much better than the 4. I did not like the quality of the pictures from my old phone so this one is a step up. Anywho….as I love to take pictures of just about anything and can rival any Japanese tourist I took various pictures that kind of tell a story of my happenings in the last few days. Thought it would make a fun and “quickie” post (quick by my standards). Ready? Here we go…..

A wonderful event at Safavieh…a table too pretty to not take a picture of, love the crudite “trunk”…

?My local farm stand finally opened….what a treat!
Fresh bread getting sliced up for crostinis I am making for appetizers……….
?Basil, parsley and fresh tomatoes….doesn’t get better!

?Fresh strawberries..yum!

?Baby carrots….

Cut up bellpepper in half to serve as “bowls” for my dip

Add a little lighting for some ambiance…..

Light the candles outside on the loggia……
Loving my pillows!! A post on this to come in the next week or two…..

Adding my finishing touches, love the look of baby carrots and a yummy healthy spinach dip made with Greek yogurt…..

?Aren’t these glasses beautiful? Bought them at an antique shop in CT. a while back……

I bought a large lot of them….it was like a crystal glass jackpot, love them!

And of course every get together in my home must include some kind of crostini (we were having friends over)….could easily make a meal of these plus they are so pretty!

?And I got the best fresh figs with the fresh strawberries…they were soooo good.

Bought five of these very large white “Annabelle” ?hydrangea flower bushes….going to have them planted today

Spent a little time by the pool……

This was the original pool house which we have done nothing to other than clean it up, it still has a lot of charm but eventually hope to give it a “facelift”

This extra large lattice planter, (think playhouse size) over 4′ x 4′ x 4′ is getting planted on Sunday

?So excited! These gardenia topiaries that were dying I was able to bring back to life and they just sprouted their very first blooms in months!! This was a thrill:)

?And hydrangeas are bloomimg in my yard, not to say this is my favorite color but they are pretty

?Visited a local nursery………..

?This darling scultpure is of a girl and boy swinging to be hung from a tree….so cute!

?Aren’t these pretty? The beautiful flowers our friends brought us over when they came over last night

?Raised my window treatment in my bathroom to make it a little fuller and I like it!

Finally finished the floor of the small powder room off the library….now waiting for the wallpaper…..

This paper I have had in that little bathroom for nearly a year! I am finally taking the plunge…still love it as much as the day I found it!
? So that’s a wrap of my weekend as seen through my trusty iPhone. Today we have a graduation party and hoping it doesn’t rain! Hope you are enjoying a wonderful and relaxing weekend…hard to believe next week is July 4th! Summer is flying…….

How does your garden grow and a gardening giveaway!

What is it about gardens and why we love them so? I am a sucker for a more natural looking garden, kind of like the perfect combination of nature just doing what it does best…growing all kinds of beautiful trees, shrubs and flowers with a little help from us to keep things neat and pristine. Nothing overly done, nothing too perfect and a beautiful lake or pond, a charming gazebo and some gorgeous statuary and planters certainly is the icing on the cake. One thing I never tire of looking at is pictures of beautiful gardens. They literally have the ability to “take me away” to a beautiful, magical, serene place. Do they have that effect on you too? I had a loooong wish list at the start of this summer (being its the first summer in our new house, I came wide eyed and full of dreams and wishes) but the reality is that little has gotten done and the list remains nearly as long as it did when summer started! So….thinking next year is the year (please remind me that I said this).

One thing I wanted to desperately do is start my own garden, had one in our first house and few things could make me as happy as when I ran out first thing in the morning to fetch what nature had sowed…..it was thrilling to load up a big crate of tomatoes and cucumbers! I have planted some flowers this year, and of course several new hydrangea bushes which grow really well around here, they are practically fool proof! I have done some container gardening, (mostly indoors though) and though I have done little….the little I have done has been immensely satisfying and I realized this year how much I enjoy it, always looking for an excuse to visit a nursery or a beautiful florist or greenhouse (to the point where I think some people think I work there)! So next year, my green thumb is going to be glowing and ready for action! Today ?I share with you some exquisite gardening images I have saved that just make me exhale and immediately bring down my blood pressure a few notches. To boot….this is being tied in with a fabulous gardening giveaway!! Something from my shop in conjunction with a few chic gardening items from Angela’s garden. All details on bottom. Enjoy…………..

This is positively magical, Old Westbury Gardens
This makes my heart sing…..the white blooms, the charming seating arrangement, does it get any better?
The manicured look of I believe boxed hedges is simple perfection.
Beautiful planters and statuary, boxwoods, a fountain and lush foliage make this cozy, inviting but above all very elegant. London gardens
This charming parterre garden is just beautiful, Lamaisonfou
How beautiful is a simple garden bench on a sea of perfect grass with a raging flower garden as a backdrop!
Dreamy don’t you think? A beautiful arbor or corridor of pale pink roses….spectacular!
Give me an expanse of bright green lawn, and a bed of blooming hydrangeas and I am good to go!
Green with Envy garden tour…..lush, secluded and magical is how I would sum this fabulous setting up…..
What awakens every one of our sense as much as a breathtaking rose garden/arbor? Granted this is not?something most of us could easily achieve but its certainly a thing of beauty to aspire to!
White flowers in a lush green garden are the picture of elegance, Southern Accents

How beautiful is this? What a perfect hideaway aka reading spot! Alfreds Gardens

Love white in gardens and this lush garden’s hydrangea borders are just amazing!!
Yes this requires boatloads of work and maintenance, but how stunning is this perfectly manicured garden featuring these round boxwoods lining a walkway? Domestic Executive
How beautiful is this bronze statue placed in the middle of a gorgeous lily pond? Love!!! Linda Floyd
This has been in my files for a long long time as a picture perfect “yard” (while I realize its far from your average yard) love the manicured, restrained feeling……visual perfection. Southern Accents

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

Hi there……hope you are off to having a wonderful holiday weekend, whether you are on the road, traveling, doing something big or nothing at all! We are going on a friends boat, have dinner plans and invited to a?BBQ, and possibly having some family over, ?to me the perfect way to spend?a lazy holiday weekend. Originally, we were going to go to Newport but my sons team is in his county playoffs so he has to be around for practices, which is just as well. I am looking quite forward to a more low key weekend. I would love to do some gardening too but have to admit I am petrified of getting poison ivy, to which I am highly allergic and its rampant here! Hopefully the weather will cooperate with?our plans, it has been ridiculously rainy, muggy and humid all week long…we need a break! How about you? Whats on your agenda? Anything exciting?

So here ?this is just a bunch of randomness (something I am getting good at)!

So we finally got in the last batch of sconces for our downstairs hallways and leading down to the basement. So nice for it to finally be done!

Was so excited that I got my wallpaper done in the powder room! Bad news is we were short, originally we were going to have a chair rail and paneling so we ordered paper under that assumption but then I decided against it, so we are short 2 rolls, getting it next week and will finish then but you get the idea! Love the mood and the way it transformed the space. Cannot wait to get the onyx top and sink put in, add the chinoiserie feeling mirror and get some window treatments done, add the chandelier and we are done! Its kind of a pewter metallic-y paper from Schumacher (one of go to faves) in warm and cool tones…… Woo hoo…..

For those of you who didn’t see my window treatments in my bathroom, here they are….for those who did sorry I am just loving how it came out!

One of the lines I carry that I love love love is the European kitchen line, so finally got a few Bavarian bread boards for myself….really really like these! This weekend I will serve crostinis and a baked brie on them. In the meantime, they are pretty just to have on display.

One of the fun parts bout blogging is discovering new sites, new people and sharing our discoveries along the way! One I recently discovered and adore is Jenny Stebbens. She is a talented modern day Martha! Love her style, aesthetic and her user friendly approach. A fabulous go to resource for recipes that are not difficult but really fabulous and the presentation well…..you will see what I mean! So she came out with her Summer guide on everything from grilling recipes, appetizers, drinks to table settings…you absolutely must check it out! Click here to visit??and a sneak peek…..

Sorry if I am making you hungry so early in the morning!?
Also don’t you just love getting exquisite little care packages in the mail….you know what they say about small boxes! Well, ?I got this magnificent?necklace?and earrings in the mail?courtesy?of my buddy, Marsha from the beautiful and super stylish blog,?Splenderosa. Yes,the one who recently launched her online store featuring all?kinds?of?gorgeous?extremely affordable baubles! How stunning is this? We have never met yet she knew right away the colors that I love. Here it is…along?with some of the?things?found?on her beautiful site, click here to visit her!
Everything is 14kt goldfilled, the earrings and earrings are gem quality London blue topaz
factted briolettes, the pink is pink tourmanline and the luscious big drop is aquamarine!

Thank you Marsha…..LOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!!
And some other beautiful items in her gorgeous online shop…..

Just planted (still working on it, have to add more moss and wrap in cellophane and pretty ribbon) ?this beautiful orchid in one of my favorite silver planters that I carry in my online shop, ?to bring to someones house, part belated birthday and part thank you for having us over…..kinda want to keep it but I will be a nice person and give it to her:)
So everyone, that’s about it around here. Happy to wrap up a busy busy week, a good one, a productive one but alas a tiring one! I am looking forward to some down time and hopefully Mr. sun will decide to grace us with his presence! Hope whatever you are up to is lots of fun, enjoyable and mostly relaxing! I may be back over the weekend to pop in and say hello…….
