Bedrooms that blow me away

Good morning hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We did, it was actually pretty relaxing despite having another tournament for my son, but this one was thankfully local. We are winding down with the tournaments and I am not complaining! As we are nearing the final stages of the house, the decisions are coming at us fast and furious and I need all the attention, focus and clear thinking I can muster!?I love bedrooms and now that I am really starting to think about my own in the new house, I have been paying a lot of attention to them, how they are furnished, what kinds of bedding is used, if wallpaper is being used in the bedrooms that I tend to be drawn to, lighting, etc…..its all in the details and how those details all come together! I am drawn to softer colors, love the idea of a bedroom feeling like you have been enveloped in a cocoon of luxuriousness and serenity.?

I tend to favor the soft blues and creams but every now and then I surprise myself by being really attracted to a bedroom that is not in line with what I typically like. So today is a post about some beautiful bedrooms that for one reason or another is just very inspirational. Many different styles pictured here from casually coastal to very formal, but they are all lovely! ?I love seeing extra seating in a bedroom, whether it be a chaise lounge, a bench at the foot of the bed, a pair of love seats or a huge comfy over sized club chair and ottoman. Whats your ideal bedroom? Always love to know!

Love this super elegant and equally beautiful bedroom by Sandra Nunnerly
Love everything about this inviting and gorgeous bedroom, Jean Randazzo
Taylor Hannah designed this opulent and formal bedroom
Always like seeing the creams and the pale grays together, beautiful serene bedroom by Palms Design group
Love the way the soft muted earth tones blend so melodically here, Suzanne Tucker
How about this cream puff of a bedroom? Mary McDonald
Soft tones in a more transitional bedroom, Jan Showers
Love the softness from the white tufted headboard and all white linens, Southern Accents
Fern Santini created this elegant oasis with a glamorous touch
Something fun about this guest room, all the different patterns with a punch of color, Massucco, Warner, Miller
One of my favorite designers, Phoebe Howard created this vision in cream
I am drawn to the super soft colors here, House and Home
Grand island tropical elegance, DLGV
Really liking the dark brown in this room, Traditional Home
Beautiful fabric on the upholstered headboard, Veranda
This would be akin to sleeping on a cloud! House Beautiful
Love the all white here, Bernd Haussman
A subtle punch of pale blue in an otherwise white washed room, quite pretty! Palms Design group
Another sumptuous pale beauty, how gorgeous is this? Belclaire House
The cool grays paired with crisp white are always stunning, Sandra Nunnerly
How about this vision in white against those gorgeous very dark floors? Robert Stern
How luxurious is this cream and white confection? Mary McDonald
And in honor of Mosaic Monday here is a little recap:
Well….get any ideas? Have a favorite here? I love seeing gorgeous inspiration but admittedly it can sidetrack and overwhelm me when you have to narrow it down to ONE thing!! I feel like I am making progress however and I cannot imagine having gone through this process without the Internet, God bless bless those brains that created it some thirty or forty years ago! Hope you have a wonderful day….

Sunday Showhouse, you’re invited!!

Happy Sunday and Happy Fathers Day to all you dads! ?I finally got to see Midnight in Paris. My first disclaimer is I really like Woody Allen’s movies, and the second and significant disclaimer is that there is NOTHING about Paris I don’t love. However this fantastic refreshing gem of a movie does much more, it takes you through all the beauty that is Paris with plenty of gorgeous French music as a backdrop. Such an interesting story…and I think Owen Wilson knocked it out of the park as an idealistic aspiring writer who gets the chance to go back in time to meet some of the most illustrious names in art, writing and culture. Its fascinating, entertaining, captivating, wholesome (that’s a nice surprise) and overall I highly recommend it!

?Its mighty relaxing over here, my husband and son are off for the weekend to a lacrosse tournament and the very welcome couple days of quite, solitude bliss and free time that I have had have been quite nice, though I am excited they will be home later today in time for a wonderful Fathers day dinner. We as I always do on Sundays, visit three extraordinary homes, two in the United States and then to tropical Dominican Republic…why not spice things up a little! We start off in gorgeous Northern California and end the tour in the DR……so here we go. I love to know which is your favorite!

ATHERTON, CALIFORNIA Andrew Skurman designed this fabulous neo classical Georgian home. The luxury is unparalleled and the vast spaces are an entertainers dream! Uber elegant, very formal and perhaps not what some might consider a true “family home” its fun nevertheless to see and explore for all its lavish but tasteful fabulousness. Love how the bedrooms have the huge walls of glass with french doors…if I were a guest, I just might not leave! That bathroom is incredible and the backyard is a place I could happily spend the summer in! ?Come on in……

This rivals the last Four Seasons I stayed at!
Wow….I would spend a lot of time here year round!
NAPA VALLEY, CALIFORNIA I will do just about anything to feature and talk about Napa Valley, a place that stole my heart when I was there. I would like to make an annual pilgrimage there until I am able to permanently move to the gorgeous Napa Valley:) In the meantime I feature this beautiful home which has a strong Provence/Tuscan feeling to it as was intended to blend into the melodic landscape. It is rustic but highly sophisticated, large open airy spaces, simple window treatments adorn the huge iron windows. It is calm and serene and mostly it is so fitting ?for the majestic landscape it sits upon, 24 acres to be exact! Almost all of the rear facing rooms open onto a few central courtyards. Come take a look……

Love those big walls of glass…fabulous!
I could so see myself and good friends enjoying my locally grown wine here every night!

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. This fabulous getaway home is actually a family compound which comprises of a few beautiful casitas, all making themselves open to the beautiful lush outdoors. When we were in the Dominican a few years ago, we attended a party at this very house ?and ?true story-I left my phone there and had to return to retrieve it the next day so got to see it in the daylight (and really took my time looking) without hundreds of people and its every bit as gorgeous as it looks here, even more so during the day! Love how the interior spaces become one with nature. The warm earthy colors and rich warm generous use of woods compliment the fabulous lushness that beckons just steps away. Yes, I think I could happily call this home.?All interiors by Linda Hernandez. Do come in!

Welcome to this tropical oasis!

A room with a view!
This bedroom is fabulous and meant for lingering in the mornings with coffee in bed
Wow three gorgeous homes indeed! Do you have a favorite? I always love to hear form you, its always fun to see which house is the big hit of the day! Hope you have a wonderful and relaxing day and again a blessed and peaceful Fathers day to all you dads out there!!

Thank goodness its Sunday, I need an official “free pass” to feel like I am off duty today. Its been a long and sometimes stressful week and its nice to have a day just to do as I please..though we all know there is no rest for the weary! By the way, saw Jane Eyre which I had been dying to see..it was incredible. I loved it…..the scenery, music and costumes were breathtaking, the homes it was filmed in “knock your socks off” gorgeous in that hauntingly beautiful, cold and somewhat foreboding English castle kind of a way. Hows that for a description? I loved the film adaptation from the well known novel and would recommend it if you enjoy period films. Sunday is a day to take it nice and slow…..so start your day by going on a house tour with me!!First we start off in Lake Michigan, then head to ranch country, Montana, home of some of the most beautiful vistas in the world and finally back east to Greenwich, CT. You know I love to know what you think so please let me know if you have a favorite! Here we go…..

LAKE MICHIGAN, MICHIGAN. This fabulous stately clapboard classic designed by the renowned Robert Stern took great care to keep this house true to its New England roots. It is understated and classic elegance at its best. Victoria Hagan designed the interiors and its very clear that she has left her indelible and creative stamp on the refined and restrained interiors. The views of the lake that beckon are incredible and this gem is complete with a pool house that compliments the main house. Pretty nice!

BIG SKY, MONTANA. Horse and ranch country. Warm rich colors, lots of wood. Inviting and cozy but still grand. Enough said, lets have a look……?Locati Architects, one of the masters of the ranch house universe, ?is responsible for this beauty. The hand?hewn beams used throughout the interiors adds warmth, elegance and a charming rustic quality that is exclusive to fine ranch living. With a vacation house like this, and vistas and views that this house has..I might never feel the need for a vacation away from home ever again!

GREENWICH, CT. ?This stately elegant classic brick Georgian in beautiful mid country Greenwich is a bit of a surprise inside. I would describe the style of interiors as eclectic, because as you can see there are a number of different styles going on there, I see transitional, even some modern, traditional, and even some colonial. What do you think of the mix? I love that mirrored door dressing area….step inside.

So that wraps up the Sunday showhouse..what do you think? Do you have a favorite? You know I love to know..its always fun to hear your ideas and opinions! Enjoy your Sunday and rest of the weekend…hope you are doing something fun!

Beach house chic

Who wouldn’t love a cozy beach house right by the sea or a charming lake house with views to rival the setting from “On Golden Pond”. I know I fantasize about one day buying a small place by the ocean and know exactly how I want it to be decorated. It would first have to be welcoming, inviting and calming…after all its a getaway and the whole idea is about entering a new space, a true oasis away from the rat race. It would have a soft and light palette, with pops of color in some rooms but overall a soothing and light neutral feeling is what I envision.

?It would have to have a killer kitchen, not a huge one but one big enough for clambakes and preparing dozens of bbqs and hosting smores parties,etc…..you get the picture. And then the views…ah, the views, very important. It just has to have that “welcome home” feel that I think is the hallmark of a successful interior/home. So what about you? If you had or if you have a beach/lake house…..what makes it so wonderful? What would you do to it? Here are some inspirational beach/lake house interiors…that made me wish for one sooner than later. Happy Sunday! Today we are trying to head to the Frick museum to see the Rembrandt exhibition on view. Today is my “cultural crash course day” and I am so looking forward to feeding my senses! First we arrive to this fabulous and captivating stone and slate roofed manor home…though its brand new, its been decorated and built with old world touches that make it look and feel like its been around a ?long time. Moving along…to this spectacular French home designed by world renowned architect, Robert A.M. Stern, located right in the heart of the gorgeous idyllic East Hampton estate section. Fabulous sprawling spaces are carefully decorated with a formal yet cohesive palette throughout. A formal french garden has been created to give it an old world feel and it is hard to detect that this is in fact a new home….Magnificent grounds complete with tennis court, pavilion and pool make this the ultimate beach house to get away to! (Interiors by Jean Paul Baja)

?And last we go high in the sky to this fabulous apartment on Central Park west….fabulously cohesive and elegant palette is consistent throughout this majestic apartment with views out of this world, check out the dramatic windows in the master bedroom with the wall of bookcases, love it! The ceiling detail and fireplace in the master…so luxurious. (Interior design by Katie Leede and Company)

You know I always love to know if you have a favorite! If you just had to move into one…which would be your choice? ?For me, its just too hard to choose as there are rooms within each home that I think are spectacular, but seeing the lush interiors, ?green grass, and those spectacular NYC views was a treat indeed.
Have an enchanting day!

And last we go high in the sky to this fabulous apartment on Central Park west….fabulously cohesive and elegant palette is consistent throughout this majestic apartment with views out of this world, check out the dramatic windows in the master bedroom with the wall of bookcases, love it! The ceiling detail and fireplace in the master…so luxurious. (Interior design by Katie Leede and Company)

You know I always love to know if you have a favorite! If you just had to move into one…which would be your choice?  For me, its just too hard to choose as there are rooms within each home that I think are spectacular, but seeing the lush interiors,  green grass, and those spectacular NYC views was a treat indeed.
Have an enchanting day!
