Bedrooms that blow me away

Good morning hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. We did, it was actually pretty relaxing despite having another tournament for my son, but this one was thankfully local. We are winding down with the tournaments and I am not complaining! As we are nearing the final stages of the house, the decisions are coming at us fast and furious and I need all the attention, focus and clear thinking I can muster!?I love bedrooms and now that I am really starting to think about my own in the new house, I have been paying a lot of attention to them, how they are furnished, what kinds of bedding is used, if wallpaper is being used in the bedrooms that I tend to be drawn to, lighting, etc…..its all in the details and how those details all come together! I am drawn to softer colors, love the idea of a bedroom feeling like you have been enveloped in a cocoon of luxuriousness and serenity.?

I tend to favor the soft blues and creams but every now and then I surprise myself by being really attracted to a bedroom that is not in line with what I typically like. So today is a post about some beautiful bedrooms that for one reason or another is just very inspirational. Many different styles pictured here from casually coastal to very formal, but they are all lovely! ?I love seeing extra seating in a bedroom, whether it be a chaise lounge, a bench at the foot of the bed, a pair of love seats or a huge comfy over sized club chair and ottoman. Whats your ideal bedroom? Always love to know!

Love this super elegant and equally beautiful bedroom by Sandra Nunnerly
Love everything about this inviting and gorgeous bedroom, Jean Randazzo
Taylor Hannah designed this opulent and formal bedroom
Always like seeing the creams and the pale grays together, beautiful serene bedroom by Palms Design group
Love the way the soft muted earth tones blend so melodically here, Suzanne Tucker
How about this cream puff of a bedroom? Mary McDonald
Soft tones in a more transitional bedroom, Jan Showers
Love the softness from the white tufted headboard and all white linens, Southern Accents
Fern Santini created this elegant oasis with a glamorous touch
Something fun about this guest room, all the different patterns with a punch of color, Massucco, Warner, Miller
One of my favorite designers, Phoebe Howard created this vision in cream
I am drawn to the super soft colors here, House and Home
Grand island tropical elegance, DLGV
Really liking the dark brown in this room, Traditional Home
Beautiful fabric on the upholstered headboard, Veranda
This would be akin to sleeping on a cloud! House Beautiful
Love the all white here, Bernd Haussman
A subtle punch of pale blue in an otherwise white washed room, quite pretty! Palms Design group
Another sumptuous pale beauty, how gorgeous is this? Belclaire House
The cool grays paired with crisp white are always stunning, Sandra Nunnerly
How about this vision in white against those gorgeous very dark floors? Robert Stern
How luxurious is this cream and white confection? Mary McDonald
And in honor of Mosaic Monday here is a little recap:
Well….get any ideas? Have a favorite here? I love seeing gorgeous inspiration but admittedly it can sidetrack and overwhelm me when you have to narrow it down to ONE thing!! I feel like I am making progress however and I cannot imagine having gone through this process without the Internet, God bless bless those brains that created it some thirty or forty years ago! Hope you have a wonderful day….

Nirvana in Napa

Good morning! A lot of you have asked about the house….going today to take some update pictures and will update and share tomorrow. Ever since I saw the remake of The Parent Trap, shot in Napa Valley and featuring the then innocent and adorable, Lindsay Lohan, I have been in love with Napa Valley and all things having to do with wine country. ?Looking back that is probably where my desire to live there one day started. I admit I fantasize about living there one day, buying a small farm/vineyard, having my own “farm to table” movement restaurant right in the middle of the vineyard and leading “the life” that I envision is all about Napa laid back living. The crisp mornings with the dew still on the grapes gives way to perfect blue skies, low humidity bright sunny days, and chilly, cricket chirping nights…..whats not to love??

Being surrounded by vineyards, both small boutique ones and larger commercial ones, the topography of the land is breathtaking. I was lucky enough to be there last year and absolutely cannot wait to get back. ?Surrounded by a cultured community that is not driven by money, the make and model of your car, how prestigious yours kids school is or what club you belong to, things there are less complicated. ?At least in my mind, life there is simpler, a throwback to how things used to be. Then you throw in oodles of amazing restaurants run by renowned celebrity chefs, chic roadside gourmet grocers and you have what I ?would venture to say is a near perfect setup. In my own sometimes overactive imagination I will never lose sight of this “picture” of how it must be to live in Napa and Sonoma valley.

?Even if Napa and Sonoma?have fallen prey to all the vanities and trappings of their more suburban counterparts, I don’t want to hear about it. I have always, as a result of this fascination been drawn to the homes, interiors and lifestyles of those that are lucky enough to reside there. So today I pay tribute to the Napa lifestyle. Here are some exquisite homes and interiors from homes in wine country. Let me set the tone…its a perfectly crisp, zero humidity day, and its later afternoon with the sun just starting to set and give way to a starry filled night….. I can almost feel the breeze, hear the jazz band playing at the local vineyard, and smell the aromatic scent of fresh grapes getting crushed for the next seasons harvest.

My guess is either:?
A. you are in awe of my incredibly overactive imagination and give me credit for dreaming or?
B. that you are reaching for a glass of wine as we speak as this has gotten you in a Napa Valley frame of mind!
?Hope you enjoyed it…..I so enjoyed putting it together and cannot wait to go back to this incredible place. Its bad enough I have already told??asked my three boys that one of them has to ?should consider getting married there one day! Hope you have an enchanting day!

Designer Spotlight: Tucker and Marks

Hello! ?For this designer series…I feature San Francisco based Suzanne Tucker and Timothy Marks of Tucker and Marks, one of my favorite firms who has proved time and time again that though they decorate in a variety of styles, it appears classic elegance without being overly formal ?is their true calling. Suzanne Tucker is the principle designer and Timothy Marks oversees the business end. They also have a talented design staff on hand. Their approach to design is to create warm, approachable, elegant living arrangements that will stand the test of time and endure. Their rooms are distinctively gorgeous, inviting and not overly stuffy…each one looks like you could easily imagine sitting there with family and friends, enjoying yourself ensconced ?in the beauty of the room.

?What I love about their rooms is that they are all so interesting, they don’t look like some designers’ rooms that all get the same winning formula applied to each project they do. When I look at these rooms, my eye is drawn to the details and the ?interesting objects that were used. They say its all in the details, and there are many details to each of these spaces….which is what I think makes them so interesting and eye catching. They also has a wonderful way of working with color and you can see they favor a lot of the earthy tones. They do it all….everything from ranches and vacation homes to formal homes and city apartments. Suzanne came out with a wonderful book, “Rooms to remember-the classic interiors of Suzanne Tucker”…its a wonderful book and the kind you refer back to often. You know I love to know if you have a favorite….I would have to say there are just too many for me to pick just one!
