Mothers Day- Enchanted Home Style!

Good morning. Hard to believe we are in May. I feel like before we know it we are going to be reminiscing about summer, how fast it flew by, and talking about Labor Day…..yikes! ? I wish we could press a pause button. In any case, next holiday as we all know is Mothers Day! I always try to come up with?something different for my mother other than the predictable outfit, or needlepoint pillows (one of her many loves).

To me, fresh flowers are the best and ultimate gift. But if you are like me, you don’t stop there. I have gotten emails from happy customers (phew) that wanted my suggestions on Mothers Day gifts. A few even suggested this post, so here it goes. I am sharing my top picks from my little shop for Mothers Day. I am also offering guaranteed Mothers Day delivery on all orders placed by May 6th. Exceptions are the planter/statuary and canvas art as these are made to order and take 4 weeks. So, here’s my choices……..for that special mother or if you are like me, a little something for yourself!

From my very popular silver line…..absolutely love this wine cooler/planter. I am in fact giving this very container to my mother in law filled with a beautiful orchid. When she eventually removes it, it can serve as a very elegant wine cooler/champagne bucket. Reminds me of something you would see being used in a grand hotel in Paris…….love it.

Every lady could use a beautiful and elegant etched silver vanity tray either for a makeup table or on a bathroom vanity to place her perfumes.
Another beautiful and popular little tray, this is ideal for a nightstand, to place your rings, watch, phone, lipstick, etc…
This beautiful etched planter is stunning with an orchid, or with a few pretty guest/hand towels.
Another very popular tray, so pretty for a vanity or bar
Another larger planter with beautiful fancy scrollwork, imagine a gorgeous hydrangea plant in this!
You haven’t heard…you cannot be too rich, too thin or have too much silver..lol!
My European line is filled with all kinds of fabulous trviets, dough bowls and cutting boards that are either antique or made of reclaimed woods. Just fabulous for anyone who loves to be in her kitchen!
I don’t think there is anyone who wouldn’t love to receive linens bearing their initial. I offer these fabulous guest towels, dinner napkins and cocktail napkins with an oversized single letter and fancy scrolling. Just got in a large order so most initials are ready to go! ?Such an elegant and feminine gift.
The linen guests towels with a fancy single letter monogram

Offered in ecru on white or white on white

Beautiful detailing…..

The hemstitched cocktail napkins are also really fabulous and great to have on hand

Linen guest towels with fancy black monogram letter

I always describe these incredible gardenia scented candles as my most favorite candle in the world.I discovered them at the Ritz Carlton and to anyone who knows me, this is the official scent of my home! Then to boot, they are poured into the most beautiful crystal hurricanes that serve as wonderful display objects when the candle is gone. A truly gorgeous gift!
Porcelains…..adds instant beauty to any vignette. They are the perfect finishing touch even for those who have it all. Love the addition of Staffordshire dogs to any setting or a beautiful planter or a pretty little box to add to an existing vignette.
Love this darling small tureen, the ormolu detailing is so beautiful

I love these dogs!! They also come in a few fun colors like orange, blue, black. So elegant!

And this beautiful little box which I sell like crazy is a perfect accent for any table/vignette

Or this beautiful little box with the brass finial, looks gorgeous on a stack of coffee table books or as a pair on a table or console.
This is a beautiful scalloped planter that is perfect given with a potted orchid or other flowering plant!
Just got in these new flower vases, stunning!

And for an avid book reader, how about a darling and very well priced pair of bookends!
And finally the pewter line, Vagabond whose things are just incredibly beautiful, true heirloom quality. Just got a bunch in and I swear I wanted to kidnap each and every piece but I was good and promptly packed things up to go to their new homes!! Their items are just exquisite……
This might be me new favorite item….of course got one for myself. One of my new bestsellers!

Check out the detailing!
How adorable are these lab/hunting dog salt and peppers? Love them!!?
I am in awe of the attention to detail…check out the trout in his mouth:)

My little nut bowl in good use……love the little acorn scoop
I want one of EVERYTHING!!!!!
How about this amazing pear branch cheese board? Major swoon.

Incredible attention to details…

Say hello to the Rolls Royce of carving boards, pewter, wood and antler handles!

And these polo player salt and peppers…..have to get a pair for myself.

How about these English saddle napkin rings? This makes me want to have a derby party!
I absolutely have a “thing” for pheasants…..these are just exquisite

I am like a little girl with all my barbies, can’t stop touching them, playing with them and rearranging…..its an addiction!

Also I wanted to tell you, that I ?just added a new tab on my online store entitled “Customers enchanted Homes” which is a place for me to post your pictures. I get sent a lot of pictures from happy customers who want to show me how they have used whatever they have bought from me, so it is my pleasure to post the pictures, and sometimes seeing something in a room as opposed to a stock photo gives a new perspective to said item. If you have bought something from the shop and want to share your inspiration, please send me a picture or you can upload it directly to my site, click here.

Things I am loving Thursday and house updates!

Good morning….I don’t want anyone feeling too badly for me about my rant on Tuesday, though I did enjoy the attention and the kind words:) I know life could be worse than sitting alone with Teddy alone on Halloween night looking out at the?dark empty street with nary a trick?or treater in sight (unless you count the Chinese speaking rapper upstairs who moonlights as ?my teen aged son..lol). It wasn’t a great day (coupled with many other things that went wrong that day) but you better believe next Halloween I am going to celebrate like no jack o lantern or goblin has ever seen!?

?Pulling out all the stops, maybe an intimate dinner with close friends or even a party, my imagination is the only thing in my way, there will be no stopping me! But seriously thank you for all your kind words….meant so much, you have no idea!?But now that Halloween is a done deal, I cannot believe Christmas is going into full swing!! Yesterday in my town they were already putting up Christmas wreaths and decor…huh? Where DID the time go?

Its been a crazy week (yea I know what else is new) so much happening over at the house, but we are chugging right along. I suffer from migraines and am taking Relpax but it makes me dizzy and very tired. Migraines last few months have been frequent and pretty bad, I am sure very much stress related. ?You cannot possibly understand unless you are going through it how the “devil really is in the details” and to say its painstakingly slow is an understatement. We are really hoping and praying to move in this month, but in a few weeks I will know better, as loose ends start tying up.

A few questions to answer-

For my guest post on Pretty Pink Tulips yesterday (please visit if you didn’ t get to see it), got some inquiries about the boots and the bag featured. The boots are from Frye ?and the bag is from Bottega Veneta.

Then many of you loved my new coat that I ordered and wanted to know who made it and where they could find it..thanks I am flattered (just hope I don’t look like a snowman in it) It is from Soia and Kyo, think its Canadian and you can now buy it on Bluefly and lucky you its on sale for less than I paid!!

And this comment from an “anonymous” poster ?and I quote

?”Love the Tori Burch bags and the cookie cups!! Just wondering why you never post any pics of you home now or yourself…..only pics of things you like from other places. Your “dream home” is beautiful….but is it yours really?? I just starting to get a weird feeling about this blog. Have a great Saturday!!”

Yes, it really is my house and if you follow my blog you will see I post updates every single Thursday!! Thanks for the compliment. I think. (this had to make me laugh)
Who makes this flatware? First one believe it or not is from Pottery Barn and the second one is from Horchow?
Where is this caned bench from? Love it too, its from Chelsea Textiles
That about wraps up the questions, if I left something out just let me know!

HOUSE UPDATES. Butlers pantry is officially done except paint but need your advice on knobs, see below! Kitchen is getting painted, range coming in next week (Put it off until paint is done) ceiling treatment got done, will include pics below and paint is pretty much done upstairs. Now they are just staring doorknobs and carpet coming in Nov.10th…woo hoo! The limestone around front entrance is moving along, but we are waiting for the rest of it coming on Nov.7th but I had to include a picture of the gorgeous design that is going above the front door, seeing it suddenly made this maddening long wait a little more worth?it. OK, a lot more worth?it. Enough chatting, here is the low down……

Please excuse these not so great pictures, they were shot at night and I have yet to figure out how to set my camera for night pictures, its always a crap shoot when I take them…..

First coat of stain in back stair hall
Ahh, this is a little better!
Laundry room just getting put in

Back stairs going down to basement
Was trying to get a ceiling shot of finished ceiling

Need your honest advice here…they sent me the wrong sized knobs for the butlers, they are ?the larger sized knobs, not sure if I think they are too big or not, included several not so great pictures…please tell me what you really thing, should I take them off (not a huge deal ) and get the smaller knobs? They are bout 1/4 inch smaller……

Hardware done in butlers

?The rest are the family room pretty much done!! Except for mantle due in about 3 weeks…..

Test colors for family room
And I had to show you this, hot off the presses and en route to us in a few days, the completed carved limestone that will grace our front door entrance surround

BELLA CUCINA. I have written about them before but really really like their products. Found them a few years ago and have since remained devoted to a few products in particular. Great to have on hand for unexpected guests and especially wonderful to have around the holidays! ?Some of my personal faves are the artichoke lemon pesto which is out of this world ?(and don’t you love their pretty packaging) and the walnut sage pesto is really yummy too. Then you have olives, flatbreads, many other pestos, gift sets and you are talking about one fabulous little line! ?Click here to visit them.

And found out they have a shop/cafe in Atlanta…has anyone been? I would love to visit!!

A FEW GREAT BOOKS. I have had my Charles Faudree books for some time, the minute one comes out I am signed up to get it. I have to say few books offer the kind of “bang for your buck” that his books do. As we are just starting to think about decorating our home, I am resorting more to magazines and my book collection. Few have me going back over and over, every page of every one of his books is so chock full of detail, he is such a master. I have really enjoyed going through each and every page and sometimes seeing small details I missed the first few times I saw them….cannot recommend his books highly enough!! Seriously they are like the gift that keeps on giving! Charles if you are reading this (Just kidding) please come out with another!!

A SINFULLY GOOD COOKIE RECIPE. OK, we are back to food. I am sorry, I know I did many of you in when I shared the amazing oatmeal cookie recipe, but now it has competition. These are soooooo good, and of course because my hubby loves pistachios, you just know being the devoted wife i am that I just have to make these of course and naturally I will have to sample? a few to be sure they are acceptable for my hubby and kids to eat. The only moral thing to do is share with you the recipe. Proceed at your own risk:)

Ingredients for Pistachio cream cheese cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened?
1 3 ounce package cream cheese, softened?
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder?
1/4 teaspoon salt?
1? egg?
1?teaspoon vanilla?
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour?
2? teaspoons finely shredded orange or lemon peel (optional)?
1/2 cup finely chopped lightly salted pistachio nuts
In a large bowl, combine butter and cream cheese. Beat with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add powdered sugar, baking powder, and salt. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Using a wooden spoon, stir in any remaining flour. If desired, stir in orange peel.
Divide dough in half. Shape each half into a 7-1/2-inch-long roll (about 1-1/2 inches in diameter). Roll in pistachio nuts. Wrap each roll in plastic wrap or waxed paper. Chill about 1 hour or until dough is firm enough to slice. Or freeze dough for up to 2 months.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cut rolls into 1/4-inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Transfer to a wire rack; cool. Makes about 44 cookies.

Things I am loving Thursdays and House updates!

Good morning…….wow the days are passing me by fast and furious! Today I start as I do every week now with house updates. Things are moving along and we are most definitely making serious progress but there are days (and weeks) that I go and no matter how much we have done, all I seem to see is how much more there is left to be done. It is daunting, overwhelming and at times downright depressing because you have to know that originally I was hoping to have moved in the spring. I know many of you right this minute behind your computer screens, ?are probably rolling your eyes thinking “don’t ?you know woman how construction has its own clock” and the answer is of course I do, ?but I really thought moving in late spring was a true and realistic possibility. Now if we get to move in late June or July I will thank my lucky stars. So now I have turned into a tyrant ?gotten a little more involved?by taking over some of the orchestration of various trades and wearing my “assertive hat” in dealing with?certain people to make sure this ball is rolling just as fast as humanly possible. With that said, you will see some major progress has been had, so its not all gloom and doom. Then I follow with some fun eye candy of some of the things I am loving this week!

HOUSE UPDATES. The foyer floor is nearly done…just love the way it came out. We used a honed French limestone, a very quiet clean limestone with black stone “dots” and border. I think it came out beautifully. The wood floors are done upstairs, that’s a major accomplishment as is most of the trim on the second floor. The plumbing has started to get installed in the upstairs bathrooms so upstairs we really truly are down to the end, we even had the carpet installer come to take measurements so I could order carpeting and we spoke to a few painters. Downstairs things continue to move along but the finishing?involved downstairs will take much longer, however the breakfast room paneling is near done, now we have to work on various stain samples, so below are some pictures of recent updates.

Foyer floor getting done!

Breakfast room bay is done at last!
Paneling is nearly done in this room….
Paneled doorways, now we just need to pick stain color
Love the way it came out
This wall is all done
Window bay is done
Putting the finishing touches on this wall

Floors in main foyer are getting done this week!

New round of “antiqued beams” getting worked on for family room and mahogany doors came in for downstairs

Wood flooring 95% done upstairs

Casing around doors and windows just about done upstairs…finally!

Black island and outer cabinet color
Limestone samples from which to choose for the limestone hood

WROUGHT IRON SCONCES. Since I have been scouring the market for sconces for the outside of the house, I have found many beauties. Though we have not made a final decision some of the contenders are below. Do you have a clear cut favorite?
GETAWAY. I love to include a getaway/vacation in some of my weekly posts because I am really craving one right now MORE THAN EVER and also because I really love to vacation and could happily go on one monthly..lol. We are hoping to go away as we always do this winter and are hoping to go to Turks and Caicos. If we do we are deciding between the Regent Palms and The Gansevoort, there is no bad or wrong decision here, mind you. Both incredibly gorgeous. I will not complain whichever we decide. In fact at this point, put me in a tent on a beach and you won’t hear a peep:)
THE REGENT PALMS

THE GANSEVOORT

JACK ROGERS SANDALS. I have been wearing Jack Rogers sandals for a long long time, have owned them in dozens of colors, besides them being very comfortable, they happen to be very cute looking. Now they come in this great looking monogrammed style and I don’t need to tell you how I feel about monograms. So I was very excited about this style and just ordered them in two colors. Aren’t they adorable? I wear these literally all summer and they are a part of my “summer wardrobe”. Tres cute and again comfort is very key to me. Click here to order yourself a pair.
HAYMARKET DESIGNS. I love this line. Discovered them about a year ago. Have since ordered from them a few times not only for myself but for gifts too. Just a great looking line, not too expensive and fun cute patterns. They make different sized serving trays monogrammed or not, frames, wastebaskets, and tissue boxes. Makes a very cute housewarming gift. They also do custom orders. Click here to see more.

ST. HELENA OLIVE OIL COMPANY. When we were in Napa Valley last year (and I fell madly in love with everything around me) I discovered this wonderful little company. OK, I will be big enough to admit you put the word “Napa” in something and yes I will say its good. ?I am in love with the place. But this is a very nice line of products, good quality stuff. AND I love to cook, so I do know my olive oils and seasonings and sauces! They have all kinds of wonderful farm to table products and I was thrilled to know I could still continue to order from them even though I live on the other coast. They have a great line of products, and I can only speak to the ones I have tried but of the ones I have tried, I really have enjoyed them! Click?here to see more.

THE NEW GORGEOUS RALPH LAUREN RUG LINE. I am so excited about the new highly anticipated collection of Ralph Lauren rugs coming out this summer/fall being produced and launched by Safavieh, weavers of the most beautiful rugs in the world. As with all things Ralph does, this line promises to be nothing short of outrageously beautiful, below is a tidbit of whats to come, love the bold geometric rugs all inspired by antique Persian?designs in rich vegetable dyed colors…exquisite!! Visit Safavieh here to see more of their incredible rugs. They produce some incredible lines already by some of your favorite designers, including Thomas OBrien, David Easton, Martha Stewart, Suzanne Kasler, Jamie Drake and ..Thom Filicia so Ralph was a natural addition to this amazing lineup of talent! Can’t wait!
MY MARBLE SLABS ARE COMING! So excited to have gotten these yesterday. Unless you happen to be in the field for marble at this moment, this might not excite you too much, but if you are then you will have an immense appreciation for how beautiful these blocks of Calacutta are. These are going to be for the outer perimeter of the kitchen, I am so happy with them..they are exactly what I was looking for.

VAGABOND HOUSE. Great line, that I discovered a few years ago. Their gorgeous serving pieces are made of pewter, antler and reclaimed woods. Love their line and own several of their serving pieces, ?always treat myself to something new around Christmas time and occasionally when I just have to have a piece here or there to add to my growing collection. They really are just stunning and are just so pretty to display as well! The carving trays are gorgeous (I have the first one) around the holidays and makes any turkey look beautiful! ?Makes a very special gift and these are truly heirloom quality products. Well, this is all this post would allow me to share since Blogger- no surprise here- is having problems again….whats going on? Its frustrating to say the least! I have gotten emails from people telling me they were unable to leave comments, complaining about their own inability to write posts, I know of my own frustrations in recent weeks. So hoping its not a sign of things to come and that they have things under control and will be able to manage it and nip what “it” is and be done with it once and for all! Us bloggers have a lot of work to do and don’t need the extra work!?In any case, wishing you a happy and stress free Thursday!

I know many of you right this minute behind your computer screens,  are probably rolling your eyes thinking “don’t  you know woman how construction has its own clock” and the answer is of course I do,  but I really thought moving in late spring was a true and realistic possibility. Now if we get to move in late June or July I will thank my lucky stars. So now I have turned into a tyrant  gotten a little more involved by taking over some of the orchestration of various trades and wearing my “assertive hat” in dealing with certain people to make sure this ball is rolling just as fast as humanly possible.

Downstairs things continue to move along but the finishing involved downstairs will take much longer, however the breakfast room paneling is near done, now we have to work on various stain samples, so below are some pictures of recent updates.

Foyer floor getting done!

Breakfast room bay is done at last!

Paneled doorways, now we just need to pick stain color
