My weekend as seen through my iPhone and a stupendous new giveaway!!

Hi there! I have had some crazy week. On Monday woke up with what looked poison ivy (sidenote I have a history of getting very severe cases of the dreadful rash)…so I race to the dermatologist at first sight and am immediately put on heavy duty steroids both topical and oral. However this time within 24 hours I started having a horrible reaction to the topical and its been one miserable week. Living like a leper not leaving the house all week with a fan at my side at all times, was the only way to stay reasonably comfortable.

?Only on Thurs night did I decide to not use the cream and took a scalding hot shower to get off every trace and like magic…I felt better. Not 100% but significantly better….and that is how I found? out that I was allergic, started doing research and was floored to see how many have such severe reactions to this stuff! So still on prednisone which makes me feel loopy and a little wacky but the extra burst of energy was a blessing in disguise to finish getting out a rush of orders. On top of all this not feeling great and certainly not looking my best, we are supposed to go to a black tie event tonight! I am feeling pressured which I cannot stand and want nothing more than to stay in my robe, close the door and call it a weekend. To be continued…..

So I told you I would be having a giveaway every week until Christmas and I am beyond excited to announce this new one! We all know Seda France, right? Certainly a name brand that needs no introduction. I have been using their products for many many years.

?The maker of some of my most favorite candles in the world. (imagine an Oprah voice saying that)! Their scents are totally sublime, the packaging so decadent and gorgeous that sometimes it feels just wrong to open them! I have been a long time fan of Seda France so was over the moon when I found out that they are expanding into all kinds of new territory. I flipped over the new addition of their spectacular new chinoiserie pillows…come to mama! They just introduced a fabulous pillow line. Filled with feather down, they measure 19″ x 19″ and feature a traditional pagoda design on one side and classic fretwork on the reverse…brilliant!

Seda France was ever so kind to donate not one but TWO pillows as a giveaway! So one lucky winner will get a pair of these gorgeous chinoiserie pillows in their choice of color. How amazing is that! All details on bottom how to win. Let’s take a look at these beauties shall we?

Love that these are two sided….so smart and so classically gorgeous, good work Seda France 🙂

Pretty amazing don’t you think? Which is your favorite color? I love them all but see either the blue or tan for my own home…but how fun would the orange or green be?

Since I have spent so much time in the house here are my musings taken with my iPhone…..

?Putting final touches on bedroom selections…love this new tape too…could be a pretty addtiion

?I am still determined to find a way to use this mantle….IN LOVE!

?The other day when I went to get the mail I noticed? the most beautiful sunset and that coupled with the late season foliage peeking through the front door was too pretty to not capture

?Forgot about this Greek key I bought in the spring in Charlottesville! I love it…going to add it to some pillows!

?Bought these beautiful tole sconces at a local antique shop…aren’t they pretty?

?I cannot believe what they are doing with tile today! These “parquet floors” are tile, indestructible…and so reasonable, we are looking for tiles for a large room in our basement, something that is no fuss.

LOVE my new cutting boards that just came in as new additions to my European kitchen line…how
exquisite are these and a massive 3″ thick!

?And love of course the beautiful large trivets…these are the ultimate serving piece for cheeses and antipastas, so pretty!

And the biggest highlight of my week (actually month, maybe even year) is putting in the most magnificent antique Serapi into our library!!! I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS RUG!? More to come as this room comes together……

Now how to win the pair of scrumptious pillows. Just visit Seda France, come back here and tell me your favorite item or scent and which color pillows you would love to win.?

My weekend as seen through my iPhone

Hi there…hope your Sunday is going well and off to a good and relaxing start. We have had a really nice weekend, a Friday night football game (and they won which made it even more exciting) dinner out with friends, a visit from a friend in from out of town…and today we are still making up our minds, might do nothing at all which often makes Sundays so wonderful!

So here is a look at happenings in my life through my iPhone as I sometimes do….got the iPhone 5 which has a much better camera so the pictures to me are far better than with the 4, anyway here we go…….

Last weekend we were in Boston, it was such fun despite the somewhat gloomy and very humid weather. I have to say Boston is one city I could easily move to without hesitation…amazing restaurants, an intellectual city,? beautiful and well maintained, and though its a big city it still feels self contained, here are? few snippets from the weekend…..

?A cool restaurant called Empire….the decor was stunning!

?Another one called Island Creek

And we had brunch here, Eastern Standard which we have been to many times, love the French Bistro vibe

?Then a late night cigar bar…..not really my thing but have to say it was fun and quite an experience!

Back at friends house, loved her mudroom and did as any good blogger would do, snap away….

Pretty new marble bath they just finished…

I like this lighting they used for their bookshelves in his study..its this tiny rope lighting, so pretty!

?And the hardware in her Kitchen was pretty too….as a blogger always looking for something interesting:)

And speaking of interesting! They are in contract to buy this house, it is a real project but one thing that is amazing is indoor pool complex, no you are not looking at your local swim club but an indoor pool that is part of the house, it was quite incredible!

?Can you just see all the parties they could have in here!

?The grounds are beautiful with lots of stone walls….

? The sunflowers I brought her, which looked pretty in her beautiful kitchen

Meanwhile back at home……How gorgeous is this chinoiserise fireplace? I would so love to make this work for my dining room but its too small…..trying to figure out a way! Love it! It was taken out of an old mansion in the area…

Around the house we had no sconces up in the front foyer because I was holding out for the perfect antique sconces, the thing is if you want them you need to look for them, something I was not doing so I had two extras from the living/dining room and had my electrician put them up “temporarily” which really means that after 24 hours we like enough to make them permanent, they look great and I didn’t realize how badly they needed to be there until they were installed!

?And with bulbs…..let there be light!

Out on the patio, waiting for a batch of navy and ivory pillows to come in to finish out there and a few more garden stools and finally ordered two planters (we need many more) but starting with two and hopefully they will look as good as I am hoping! It was the most spectacular afternoon…….

This last week it has been handbag central! I am so in love with these bags..every time I am packing one up I want to keep it (which means I want one in every color)….here are a few below. I sold out of both batches but am getting a third in and there are a few pieces left for sale, to see all colors click on this post and email me here if you are interested. They are made of the most scrumptious leather, fit right over your shoulder, hold everything including an ipad and to me it’s just the ultimate chic everyday tote..yes I am excited about them:)? They will up on the online shop by next week……

Finally I have to say though I was late to the starting gate…I am having a lot of fun with Pinterest and I love Sundays when I have more time to pin away to my hearts content. One day, just one day, I want my entire family to go do their own thing and I want to go to the market and buy a carload of ingredients and come home and make as many things as I can from my Food fun board on Pinterest. I am astounded at the inspiration, creativity and variety that is out there..it is almost overwhelming! Heres a look at some recent food fun pins, click here if you care to see more (warning do not visit on an empty stomach)…..

And finally for all you football fans and men out there, of course I thought of you too, this ones for you….

So that’s whats happening over here! How about you? What’s new and exciting in your world?? An absolutely beautiful weather weekend…..hope you are enjoying yours too. Thanks for stopping in and Happy Sunday!

My weekend as seen through my iPhone…..

Hello and Happy Sunday morning to you! I am back, after a busy weekend. I am soooo looking forward to doing a whole lot of nothing today:) Hope your weekend has been a good one. Ours started with the opening night party at ArtHamptons a premiere art event in the Hamptons…it was packed to the gills and loads of fun. The “interesting” people watching was off the charts, but it would have been way too obvious for me to start taking pictures of them, but trust me use your imagination and assume that I saw it there! The art was everything from “that”s art”? to incredibly imaginative and fascinating.

Then we went to Princeton, NJ for a tournament for my son….it was a HUGE tournament with hundreds of teams but I was able to carve out a little time early one morning (on a Starbucks search) to take a few pics of lovely Princeton, both the University and charming town. The architecture is just jaw droppingly beautiful, most of the older original buildings are done in a Gothic Revival style with intricate stone work, incredible limestone detailing, stained glass windows that are a work of art and thick gorgeous slate roofs. I was in heaven! I guess intellectual minds do better in beautiful surroundings:) So it was a fun weekend…..busy, exhausting and we even got a monsoon thrown into the mix. We had rain, the likes of which I have never seen and then within two hours the sun was out…..crazy weather!

Anyway here’s a little peak at some of the highlights of my weekend courtesy of my iPhone……

Also last day tomorrow to be eligible for the beautiful blue and white plates giveaway. Click here to read about it (you must comment on that post to be eligible)

?ArtHampton…..this was sooo cool. The musicians are suspended about 20 feet up in the air…..very dramatic!

“The scene”

?By far this took the prize! This was a newstand, approx. 10 x 8 feet. The ENTIRE stand was made from cut up blue jeans. You had to see this in person but the detailing was incredible!!!!!

?I mean down to the shine on Obamas face….can you image how painstaking this must have been?

?Amy……loved her music (still do).

?Arriving on Nassau St. in Princeton,? which runs adjacent to the campus and is the hub of this charming downtown

?You know I loved seeing these pretty boxwood orbs in the classical white planters!

?Every building was simply beautiful…..so classic!

?How gorgeous are the windows to this library? Only at Princeton would the lights be on at 6:45 am on a Saturday morning and no doubt there were people in there studying:)

?The pretty theater building

?I loved the intricate detailing on this magnificent limestone opening

?One of the many charming homes that surrounds the outer perimeter of the campus…..so pretty!

?To give you an idea of the sheer breadth of this window it was probably a good 18 feet tall!

?Idylllic Nassau St…..the “main drag”
?Spotted this adorable corner bakery…..
My baguette radar was on high alert 🙂
?The imposing gates to one of the best universities in the world
?What do they say about the pearly gates…………:)

?Loooove the old slate roof, magnificent!
?Even the darling Ralph Lauren just oozed understated charm

?This beautiful building made me feel like I was in Switzerland or Germany….so pretty

?Adore the flowerboxes!

The beautiful Shea rowing center…so beautifully set.

?It was a hazy morning but so calm and serene……
?And then the sun came out full force!

?Shout out to my parents…they had lived in Rochester, NY and all I heard about was how great Wegmans was…so I had to satisfy my inner curiosity and went in. It really is a wonderful market!

?Only I would become enthralled with the shopping cart canopies/structures…how beautiful are they!! I wanted to take one home and turn it into my dream greenhouse:)

?There was a beautiful array of flowers, and so much more!
?There it is again…..
?Just call me obsessed!

?Back at the lacrosse fields and back to reality!!!!!

?This was taken about 30 min. prior to a literal monsoon…it rained like I have never seen complete with lighting and thunder. Everyone was drenched to the core, all games were called off..it was quite a scene:)

?And when the sun came out….look what I spotted. A darling family of deer…this was a definite highlight:)

And then back at home…….

The Belgian block driveway project nearly done
Loved coming home to my beautiful white hydrangea trees, so in love with them:)

The hydrangea trees which will soon be put into their planters

Speaking of flowers..my beautiful white azaela topiary is coming back to life, put it in the powder room, hasn’t flowered yet but it will soon!

The beautiful blue and white antiqued large bowl from my shop holds a new cutting of hydrangeas from the yard

And pretty hydrangeas cut from the yard and placed in my blue and white bowl

And made this pretty cheese and fruit platter served on the bread boards from my shop the other night before we left
So that’s a wrap up. Hope you enjoyed. Wishing you a wonderful and relaxing Sunday!
