Another visit to my happy place aka “NY Flower market” and a winner!

Hello friends!  First order of business is to announce the lucky winner of the rug from Decor Market, congratulations goes to-

Please contact us at to provide your shipping details.

With spring officially here though it doesn’t totally feel like it, I have flowers on my mind. Make no mistake I am a huge fan of some of my faux, as they are really really good but fresh flowers are just something I cannot live without. So every now and then as I did a few weeks ago, I take a trip into the city to play florist for the day and delve into the hustle and bustle of the NY flower district. I have a few favorite stops, Associated Cut Florals, Dutchline and a few others.

This time around I didn’t pick up a lot as I had no occasion other than to convince myself spring is here and that is reason enough to bring flowers into the house. What can I say…they just make me really happy. I do have a luncheon coming up in about a month so plan on heading back to pick up flowers for that special day…of course will be sharing it with you. In the meantime, here is a recap on my recent visit with an equally flower obsessed friend….

Here are some of the quick pics I took while surveying the offerings that morning (the district opens super early around 5am and closes by about 11-12). It’s a very early and very short day. So many beautiful things to choose from……

Wouldn’t these make a fabulous arrangement in  blue and white jar?

Tulips of every variety and color over at Associated Cut Florals, they are always my go to for tulips

You can always count on major creativity and inspiration in the flower district as seen above

Love the way Dutch Flower Line always displays their daily selections

Greenery galore

Loved this elegant triple boxwoods standing like little soldiers outside one shop

Orchids for miles…..

These stunning hydrangeas took my breath away

I must say these beautiful sprigs of greenery got me dreaming, love the eucalyptus and variegated variety below…could make one gorgeous centerpiece!

Getting home is always the icing on the cake. I love going over what I bought and gathering all my little vases and pieces in which I will display them. Since there was no special occasion this time around, I just made up smaller arrangement’s and played around. Best kind of play as far as I am concerned:)

Then I give them each stem a nice little trim and start filling my vases with water, let the fun begin!

Tulips are one of my faves and these babies wasted no time in showing their spunk and going in every direction, which to me is the beauty of tulips

The white rannuculus is a very long lasting flower with a beautiful layered petal effect, such a pretty and romantic flower…..

TRICK OF THE TRADE- Hardly that I am in the floral trade but I have a trick or two up my sleeve and have used this little trick always very successfully. When the cherry blossoms started to dry up, I kept the stems and added about 8-10 stems (these jars are very large)  of my really good faux cherry blossoms and voila! my beautiful arrangement has had a rebirth. I have done this with orchids, hydrangeas, etc…and in fact going to do a designated post on this very subject in the near future. Left jar is the one that has been added to-

So here is a picture of them on their last leg but still looking pretty sans lots of flowers-

Then to the left I added about 8-10 of my faux pink cherry blossoms and voila! Look at the difference from left to right, my two week arrangement suddenly has had a rebirth!

Enjoy this post? Do flowers excite you as much as they do me? I am lucky to have a flower market so close, the only downside are the  inevitable traffic jams I always hit going to and from, so a quick jaunt quickly becomes almost an all day affair. But, it’s worth it, especially if one is having an event or party…..

Thanks for stopping in. Wishing you a wonderful day and hope spring has sprung wherever you might be:) Until next time…..

Seven on Sunday

Hello friends! I prepared this ahead of time, hope it behaves and posts on Sunday morning as it is supposed to. By the time you are reading this I will have been in one my most favorite places, Palmetto Bluff,  then onto to see friends elsewhere for a birthday celebration.

Hope you are enjoying a great and hopefully springy like weekend. Though it was not a very harsh winter, it felt like a loooooong winter. I am so ready to welcome that warm spring air and fresh cut green grass! Here we go with my Seven on Sunday-

1 NEW PRODUCTS I AM EXCITED ABOUT! I had bought a flatware service similar to this below years ago and so love the set and regretting that I did not but more, was disappointed when I could not find them again. I cannot tell you how many people have emailed me on where to find them.

So……an idea was born, I would recreate them! And I did! Love this pattern and these along with the others I featured not long ago will all be in production by next week. With luck I will have them in early to mid May. Stay tuned as I will be doing an early presale to help me gauge my numbers…..

In addition to the other flatware styles I showed you, this one above will be offered as a five piece place setting along with salad servers and serving spoons/forks.

GORGEOUS new tole pieces coming in late April, can I say they are just getting better and better, and seeing how each piece is handpainted…..makes them really special:) Already plotting where I can use a few of these:)

Fabulous new blue/white lamps

More stunning bamboo lanterns coming this way soon!

2. AMAL CLOONEY…….ONE IMPRESSIVE LADY The more I read about her the more I like and respect her. You may have seen her making the rounds lately on her latest cause…she is a complete breath of fresh air in the sometimes ridiculous world of Hollywood, a wonderful humanitarian and an inspiration to all women.

She has taken on what many see as an epidemic, the genocide being inflicted upon countless innocent civilians on The Yazidis. It is unimaginable and reading this story gave me chills… is hard to imagine that just a plane ride away, lives such brutality, such evil.

I really respect the attention she is giving this plight and of course also love that as a women with tremendous reach and power, she is highlighting a dire situation beyond comprehension that simply should not be. Read the entire article here.

3. FUN EARRINGS FOR THE SUMMER . I love wearing fun earrings in the summer, they go with the easy breeze lighter clothes, and fun summery styles. The bon bon earrings have become such a huge hit, and the best part is they are as light as a feather. Found these at Bitz of Glitz…very very cute! Click here to see more

4. CHICKEN THAT IS FINGER LICKING GOOD I made Ina Garten’s Tuscan Lemon Chicken and can attest to the fact that it’s one of the best chicken dishes I have ever eaten AND its diet friendly so big points for that.

I grilled vegetables on the side, had a big salad and the chicken…it was a very satisfying dinner with leftovers! This is honestly as good cold as it is off the grill and is a summer staple in my home. Click here for the recipe

5. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Everything today is so pretty….very springy. And why not, we have waited a long long time to celebrate the arrival of spring.

These pictures make me want to go and open my windows and let the sunshine in, but then I look outside and still see dark, crusted, icy snow. A reminder that winter is still kinda here so these pictures will have to suffice for now:)

6. A VERY EXCITING PROJECT. I have a few really exciting projects going on…..makes me happy:) But this one in particular really makes is getting my creative party juices flowing.

I was hired to help someone with  a large scaled June rehearsal dinner in sunny Florida at a private club…and she chose wisely because she is doing an all blue and white theme!! Here is one of the concept boards we are came up with…going to be F A B U L O U S!!! We just finalized all the pieces for the tables and bar area (some are below) and now working on flowers. Silver lining here- she is going to have one stunning blue and white collection after this party!

Will be sure to share with you some of the “after” pictures when the party takes place in June!

7 SUNDAYS SURVEY I have a friend who is selling her home and buying a new one. She is considering going with a totally new look and I mean totally starting from scratch. Her old home was a bit old fashioned traditional, many beautiful things but some of it appeared dated. She is thinking she wants to go with a clean/crisp transitional aesthetic that is so big right now. Her husband is not so sure but is allowing her to make this decision. The thing is she wants to have a tag sale and get rid of everything and I mean everything. She wants to only leave with her personal possessions and start anew.

We have been talking a lot about this big change and it got me thinking….if you could would you totally redo everything you have? Can you imagine leaving every item you own (furniture wise) behind? I personally am very attached to a number of my things and many have a story that makes them extra sentimental.  I get it…these are just things however they are things that I love and have meaning to me. I know I could not leave it all behind but apparently many can and do.

So, could you and would you? Curious as to what you think…..

That wraps up my Seven on Sunday this week. How about you? Anything exciting happening on your end? I always love hearing from you, so feel free to chime into the conversation. Hope you are enjoying a fabulous weekend. Until next time…

Random musings as seen through my iPhone….

Hello and happy Saturday. Woke up to no snow, that’s always a good thing.  I really hope that winter is finally done and spring can usher it’s way in once and for all. With a lot of snow presently on the ground it just doesn’t feel like spring is going to really be here on Monday. The daffodils a week ago when it was 60 started coming up and now are covered in frozen snow:(

Today is the last day of the porcelain presale so be sure to stop by and check it out if you haven’t already. Its been so well received and the response has been phenomenal, always so great to know there are so many fellow blue and white addicts:)  Plus there is a great giveaway and today is the last day to enter! Click here to view

As I periodically do,  I share with you snippets of my life from the last week or so..of course the good, pretty and inspiring only! So without further ado here we go…..

Went to one of my happy places aka “New York flower district” and came home with some beauties…..

Enjoyed a wonderful meal with a great friend at Le Coucou in NYC, fabulous!!

These black beauties are heading to a rooftop apartment in Boston where they are going to plant them with large boxwood balls, so classic

It might feel still very much like winter outside, but indoors it’s all about spring and flowers!!

Upstairs hall got a little sprcueup

A pretty corner in my bedroom….the soft colors are so soothing, it’s my private little sanctuary

So loving these beautiful trims and fabrics we just decided on for a clients family room…cannot wait to see it done!

Awwwh….Teddy got a special little friend as a gift and loves his new furry friend

LOVE working on gorgeous trims and for this client, her new pillows are going to be out of this world!

This is how we do St. Patty’s day in our office….green gorgeouness overload! How amazing are the pillows above that I had made for a client, is that ginger jar tape not the greatest thing ever!

So there you have it, all the good stuff from this past week. Hope you enjoyed, thank you as always for stopping in. Wishing you a wonderful Saturday and an enjoyable weekend! Until next time…..

Seven on Sunday

Happy Sunday morning! Hope you are all doing well and enjoying a nice weekend. Our weekend weather has been frigid, feels like the coldest air all winter long. Last week I was sure spring was arriving early. I am so over winter but to be fair, our winter has been quite mild so I will not complain plus spring is just a matter of weeks away, woo hoo!

Had a nice weekend, was in the city, had dinner with friends, today is my day of rest, my long awaited “lazy Sunday” where I pretty much get to do as I please….love Sundays, but only after having a little brunch today with a few out of town guests. Funny that I  now love Sundays,  ironic considering I used to consider them my least favorite day. Go figure. Here we go with Seven on Sunday….

1 MY CHINOISERIE TOLE IS IN! Oh my, so excited about getting this. It is in and the trucker was on his way to deliver on Friday but hit the motherload of traffic. So….he is coming Monday morning! Might I say they get better each time they come in.  For anyone who placed a website order for any of these items, your orders will be the first to ship, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-804-9565 with any questions or to check status.

I did not do a presale as I normally do since I did not have suitable pictures, so instead going to offer a 2 day arrival sale starting later Monday. Be on the lookout for it, plus a giveaway. Here is a sneak peek into what is arriving tomorrow-

2 A MOVIE I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE I must say these days I am not so impressed with what Hollywood is coming out with, and find myself watching older movies that I love over and over along with many foreign films and of course my favorite genre, documentaries.

But this one looks like a winner, called Gifted, it has a real life story with meaning, emotion and connection. I cannot wait to see it when it opens-

3 AN AMAZING BAKERY RIGHT IN NYC! There is a company in Korea who  makes cupcakes like this that I discovered on Instagram and I am just in awe everytime. Then I found this bakery right here n NYC,  which makes the same kinds of cupcakes/cakes. Love the name, Cream Blossoms and I cannot wait to visit on my next trip into the city!

These are sooo beautiful! I may just made a quick side excursion when I go to the city on Wed. How beautiful would these be for a luncheon, bridal or baby shower? Edible works of art indeed. Click here to learn more

4 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Always look forward to sharing with you what have I found and loved on Instagram this week. amazingly I am never at a loss of having plenty to post. Often it’s hard to narrow it down. Here are this weeks picks along with my favorite.

My favorite has to be this, this is what I refer to as “house perfection” in pretty much every sense-

5 LEGACY BOX. Has anyone used them? If so please do share your experience!! I am excited about this little adventure. My most prized possessions are my pictures and videos of my kids/family….nothing else comes even close but I really need to do something about the boxes and boxes of stored videos and pictures I have.

I am dying to give this a try, as I have countless videos, VHS tapes, CD’s and a million pictures that I would love to be able put on a few convenient DVD’s. Love the idea that you can load up a box with all of the above and get everything transferred back in a few simple DVD’s….priceless really!!! I think I am going to make the leap and at least start with a few, I could keep them busy for many years to come:) Click here to learn more and use code SUPER for a whopping 50% off!

6.EAT ME GUILT FREE. A friend just gave me one of these heavenly brownies that she swears by for her occasional indulgence in something sweet. I could not believe these are anything but a super rich, decadent highly caloric indulgence. Eat Me Guilt Free was created by a nurse and nutritionist  who made a full line for her patients/customers wanting a healthy, high protein treat, these are super high in protein, have no flour and are gluten free.

Our family is watching what we eat and really concentrating on a healthier diet, which has had me rethinking a lot of food choices and we are both feeling better. However I will never stop loving an occasional sweet so to not feel like you are totally depriving yourself of something you love, I think is really important which is why these are a great find. Guilt free:)

Sure enough they are in fact diet friendly and super delicious!! Dieting can be fun after all…well maybe not quite fun but bearable! There is an entire line of amazing treats, including a wonderful little birthday cake. Click here for more information.

Apparently these “:crack cookies” are insanely delicious and next on my list to try

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY OK this week is about quality. I could write a book on my feelings of how words like “customer service” has gone down the drain and how the notion of what makes something high quality is almost obsolete. Those might be separate polls! I find in general the quality of every day things to have really gone down.

We put in a pretty sophisticated smart system in our home, I personally did not want it but it was my husbands thing and I let him do it. To this day, I cannot stand it. It is a constant battle between me and the remote, and remote normally outsmarts me. But I cannot tell you how many small technical issues I have had…frustrating with a capital F!

If there is one brand that I would think is synonymous with the word quality it would be Apple. Well…..even Apple has let me down. Bought a few i macs for my office, one of them literally died after 2 months!!! They replaced the entire logic board, but still it was me having to deal with the hassle. Bought a new wireless keyboard, it will not hold a charge. It is 8 days old! What? This is Apple we are talking about, I always thought of them delivering a perfect, flawless product. What is happening!! Do you think in general quality of items has gone down? Curious if I am just on a malfunction streak or this is widespread?

PS My newest contest was announced a few days ago. Can take up to 75 pictures, already have about 25, the last day to send yours in is March 12th. A few rules-

Thank you for stopping in and making me a part of your Sunday routine! Until next time…..

The Enchanted Home Love contest and a wonderful prize!

Good morning, hope your week is off to a wonderful start. It’s flying by, can’t believe today is Thursday and its already March 2nd. Spring cannot be far away!  Mine is going well, and I am extra excited as my chinoiserie tole container is due in hopefully tomorrow:)  And you know I love when I get in new goodies.

I think it’s about time for a new contest….I hold a contest 3-4 times a year and they are not only such fun to see and share, but a great way to show off something you might be proud of.

This contest is open to anyone who has made a purchase through The Enchanted Home. Here is your chance to show it off:) Send 1-2 pictures which includes an item that you have purchased with us. There are some guidelines to keep in mind-

  • You can send in 1-2 pictures to (please don’t submit two if they are of the same thing unless styled differently)
  • Please be sure the subject line says “contest” as we get a lot of email and this way it’s not missed
  • Picture(s) must feature an item purchased through Enchanted Home (shop, promo, etc…)
  • Size and clarity and brightness is very important, if we feel a picture is not proper clarity or the right size, we will contact you, pictures subject to approval based on those two things
  • Up to 75 pictures will be accepted, will close submissions once 75 are received
  • You can submit pictures up until March 12th.
  • The contest will begin March 14th
  • The prize(s) are listed at end, cannot wait to see what you send in!

Here are some fabulous past examples of other entrants whose pictures are a wonderful example of clarity, size, and might even give you a few ideas of your own. Dark, blurry or small  pictures don’t really give it a fighting chance.

Getting as much natural light as possible is ALWAYS optimal. It will allow for a bright and most natural picture. So daytime pictures almost always are  a good idea. So get that spot ready for it’s close up. Can’t wait to see what you send in!

One lucky winner will win 3 months of Enchanted Home. That means you will get 3 beautiful surprise items, one per month starting in March! Will it be porcelain, silver, tole, a monogrammed goody, who knows!

Will receive a beautiful blue and white porcelain planter

Seeing all of these exquisite pictures reminds me of just how talented my readers/customs are…wow! Cannot wait to start receiving your pictures. It is always such fun to see how you use and display things in your homes.

I am always astounded at how beautiful they are and they are such a beautiful validation to what I do (and why I love it).  So get those creative juices flowing and I look forward to getting your pictures. Thanks for stopping in and wishing you a wonderful day!!

PS Pillow promo ends today, some beautiful pillows are still up for grabs. Click here

So many stunning new pieces as well as a return of some customer favorites, plus an accent by popular demand,  on smaller pieces, and let me tell you they are sooo cute!

It is a fun but fast and furious process here when a container arrives, a few days spent unpacking and doing inventory then we immediately start getting orders out the door in the order they were received. Seven on Sunday

Hello and Happy Superbowl Sunday! I have to give us Americans credit, we are so good at coming up with things to celebrate. Golden Globes, Grammys, Superbowl, Academy Awards, always a fun excuse to party!

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice weekend. It’s been quite mild weather wise lately…almost feeling like winter is about done but I somehow think there is more to come. I wouldn’t mind one great big snowfall and then breeze right into spring!

Here things are calm (calm is good) and relaxing….dinner with friends, a beautiful farewell luncheon for an old friend and some downtime (much needed)! Plus it’s Superbowl Sunday, not that I am your biggest football fan but even I get into this iconic American celebration! May the best team win……moving along to my Seven on Sunday.

1 ONE STUNNING TABLE! I found this table setting and it was love at first sight. I love the colors and of course the blue and white accents, it is elegant and even a bit whimsical. Plus I had considered the fabric used on the chairs for a bench I was reupholstering and now kind of hoping I can find another place for it.

This is such a beautiful set up, kind of has me in the mood for a party…… here to see the entire setup over at Atlanta Homes

2 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Love the round up this week, the best of the best!! I never cease to be amazed by the sheer beauty that I find on a weekly basis. Think of this as the Oscars of Instagram but on a weekly basis!

And my favorite this week is this one below because well….how perfectly amazing is this!

My customer ordered the ivory/blue, this one is not yet online but we did just get them back in, in the  med and large

Super excited about the container coming in this week then another container arriving in March which will have all kind of gorgeous new pieces-

Loving the tissue holder and wastepaper basket in blue and white-

This can only mean one thing….I MUST have a blue and white bathroom in PB!! The wastepaper basket is below-

Love this fabulous square planterand already have a place for two of them-

Excited to get this wonderful oversized village scene bowl in as well…going to fill it with green apples!

The silver is also en route and I have about 20 new pieces coming in, a few of them are below

4 A PROSECCO FESTIVAL! Who knew!! This is so my kind of festival:) Sounds like a blast, if you ask me. It will take place in May in East London and is four chock full days of bubbly, Italian music, food and masterclasses…how FUN!!! In case you need an excuse for a vacation, here is your opportunity just waiting…… courtesy of Tina:) For more info on this fun event click here

5. SUPERBOWL IDEAS! Well today is the big day…..I will admit I am not a huge football fan (unless one of my sons is playing) but even I get into the whole Superbowl excitement, how can you not, it would almost feel anti American! We were supposed to be away this weekend but plans changed so having a few people over last minute.

We typically have a small group over,  I like to do small bites and normally that is what I do in place of an actual dinner (a non stop revolving door of small bites)  but today I am whipping out the big guns…making a big pot of my most favorite meal of all, Beef Bourguignon Recipe is below along with a few great appetizer ideas in case you need a last minute idea or two-

This is GOOD as in insanely delicious. A tried and true recipe that is a winner. It’s a lot of prep but sooooo worth it!

  • About 3-4 tablespoons light virgin olive oil
  • 8 ounces bacon, chopped (1/2 a package)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic cloves, large chopped pieces (not too fine)
  • 1/2 cup Cognac
  • 1 bottle of good full bodied red wine (ideally like Beaujolais, Cabernet or Burgundy)
  • ?2 cups beef broth (I used Emerils box of beef stock which is a 32 oz box)
  • 1-2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2-2 1/2 pounds beef cut into 1-inch cubes (I use top round london broil)
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Fresh pepper
  • 1 pound carrots, cut to 1 inch (don’t use baby carrots, they are too soft)
  • 2 med.onions- thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh, thyme leaves (1/2 teaspoon dried) I used a bit more than the recipe called for and always use fresh
  • 4 tablespoons butter at room temperature, melted
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms (cut off stems and discard) can use more if you are like me and love mushrooms
  • about 3-4 Yukon gold potatoes diced into 1 inch pieces (some also add turnips)

If you have a nice heavy dutch oven, that is preferable otherwise a good stock pot is fine. I used my Le Cruset “weighs a ton” pot but it was perfect for this dish plus its French! Heat the olive oil and add the bacon, cook on medium until fairly crispy. Remove and drain bacon. Add cubed beef (after they have been rinsed, patted dry and sprinkled with sea salt and pepper) one layer at a time and sear the meat, this will take about 4-5 minutes, make sure its seared on all sides. Set aside with the bacon.

Next, you will add carrots, onions, and either potatoes or turnips if you are using them along with salt and pepper to the fat in the pot and cook for about 15 minutes or until soft and onions are lightly browned. Then add garlic and cook for another minute or two. Next add Cognac…you then should take a match and light it right in the pot…STAND BACK while you do this and stare in awe at your budding creation! (This process burns off the alcohol)

Next add the meat and bacon into the pot with the juices already in. Add the bottle of wine and beef broth, this mixture should pretty much cover the meat. Next add tomato paste and thyme. Simmer and then cover…at this point you can either cook it on the stove or transfer to a preheated oven (300 degrees) I cooked mine on the stove.

After about an hour and a half, the meat will be fork tender. On the side, take 2 tbsp of butter and melt then mix with flour and add to stew. In a small saute  pan, melt additional 2 tbsp of butter and saute mushrooms for about 5-10 minutes or until soft. Add to stew, bring to a brief boil and then simmer and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Season to taste. At the end, I add a few additional stalks of fresh thyme…get that  crusty baguette (which I throw on the grill or broiler with olive oil for a minute or two) and wine ready and you are in for a divine treat!

If you want a few good appetizer ideas and want to skip the idea of a fussy meal then these are really good too…..can’t stop at just one! Made these mini taco bites last year and they were a huge hit! Click here for recipe ( I did not used the beans just the hamburger meat and toppings)

Looking forward to trying these crab bites, yummy! Click here for the recipe

And how good do these spinach artichoke bites look plus with the name spinach it automatically means you can eat them to your hearts contest, after all its a “health food:” lol, click here for recipe

6. DESIGNER STAMPS! Oscar de la Renta was one of the most talented and iconic designers ever to walk the fashion globe. I think of beautiful, romantic frocks when I hear  his name and am lucky to own a special dress from him which I will always treasure even if I cannot fit into it anymore:)

So……I was so excited to see his legacy is being honored with these incredible stamps coming out mid Feb. I will never have been so happy to go to the post office!!

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY. This is all about the Superbowl. I will admit I am not a serious football fan, (though I was with the best of them when  my son played in high school) but come Superbowl day I perk up and get into it, however must say the halftime show, palatable excitement  and excuse to enjoy all kinds of great goodies makes the day extra sweet:) So….what best sums up your feelings on this iconic American day?

So friends, that’s whats cooking over there on this beautiful Sunday. Hope whatever you are up to is fun and mostly relaxing..we all need a day to unwind and do just as we please. May the best team win, I know, I know (easy to say when you are neutral)! Until next time…..

PS As of Monday afternoon, there is a new flash sale! The Statuary and Planters flash sale is on for two days only, so many exquisite pieces perfect for spring planting! Click here

Are you a member? If you own something in blue and white or are an admirer of blue and white, then you are automatically inducted into the blue and white club! I might even go  a step further and willingly commit myself to BWA, (blue and white anonymous) as my addiction to it sees no end in sight. And with good reason, it is beautiful, classically timeless and literally looks good with every color.

Being a direct importer of blue and white porcelain, you would think I would have a threshold where even for me, there is such a thing as too much. But nooooooo, if anything my passion and love for it has only intensified over time (my husband will attest to this)! I so missed doing a post on blue and white and am happy to be bringing you one today. In fact I am going to try to do one every month or so…..why not. It makes so many so happy. Enjoy….

Well if this doesn’t give you your blue and white fix, not sure what can. Does it ever get old or redundant? Not to me! I think it will be here until the end of time and there are few places in the world that wouldn’t be prettier with a sprinkling of blue and white.

So what’s your say on the matter? Have a favorite way you like to use it? Do tell! Thanks for stopping in…..cheers to a much smoother week this week! Until next time…..

Seven on Sunday

Hello and Happy Sunday. Well this is one week I was happy to see end. The stress level was high and I really needed the weekend to “decompress”. Launching a new site is exciting but nerve wrecking. Thank you for all of your very kind comments and emails…..they were so great to read and very encouraging…happy you love the new site. But, remember we are still doing a lot of tweaking and updating as I mentioned in my previous post.

The shop site is not at all updated yet and things like seeing only half the picture on the home page, plus being able to search for previous posts plus more are still being fixed. The “window” that seem too small  where you view the actual post will be fixed as well asl the ability to be able to pin all the pictures, plus many more odds and ends- so as I had mentioned,  please be patient, knowing that we are on it:)

Putting the obvious blog maintenance aside, I am really starting to enjoy my new site and hope that within the week, it should be nearly fully updated. In the end, I know it will be well worth all of the frustration, impatience, screaming matches, temptations to drink wine at 9am, and annoyances. It was quite an undertaking, one I am happy to put behind me!

Hope your Sunday is off to a great start and that you are enjoying a wonderful weekend. Today is bittersweet as my sweet youngest soon is going back to college later today. He has been home almost a full month and it’s been so wonderful having him home…though he’s not home often, when he is, the house just feels “right”.

Plus hes my biggest fan of my cooking so it’s always a treat cooking for such an appreciative and complimentary patron:) He will be really missed…….look forward to a week of continued small improvements on the blog, shop updates, a great giveaway and a celebration discount in the coming week.

Moving along to my Seven on Sunday……

1. BLUE AND WHITE GOODIES. Not only was this a Blue and white Christmas (and will be from here on in) I got so many beautiful blue and white gifts. I have to share  a few with you because they are worth knowing about!

I got this most exquisite planter/champagne bucket with my very own personalized cipher/monogram (in blue and white or course) from the one and only Sasha Nichols, given by  incredibly generous and stylish  Laurie of LB Originals. Absolutely love it!! Will treasure it forever. I am currently using it for my azalea topiary who seems quite happy in it:)

Then this exquisite framed blue and white handpainted art just made my day and now happily has been placed in my office. Super stylish Bettie of My Private Newport so generously sent this to me, it is perfect in my office. The artists name is Kate Drenckhahn, you can see more of her beautiful pieces by clicking here

Then a friend from Palmetto Bluff gave me this set of 8 cloth ginger jar napkins and these awesome ginger jar disposable placemats…does she know me well or what! These make me smile every time I use them,  then to have gotten the matching fabirc napkins was the icing on a very sweet cake. Needless to say we use them every day!

2. KEANU REEVES. My husband actually gets the credit for this, showed me the video and I was so moved by this humble man. I have always thought he is a wonderful and talented actor and seemed humble on screen but had no idea how closely it mirrors his true persona.

He is regularly known to ride the subway and there are frequent accounts of him always offering up his seat to a nearby standing female passenger. Bravo! Very inspiring and so “un hollywood’. You rock Keanu!

3. NEW RECIPE Well actually this is not really a new recipe, in that I have made this before but haven’t made it in a while. Cassoluet is a classic traditional French dish, satisfying and layered with great flavors.

It is perfect and very hearty for the cold winter months. I have added chicken instead of the pork with a small amount of sausage, there are variations that you can experiment with, it is an exceptional tasty dish and cooking/serving it in a Le Cruset makes it feel so authentic, add a nice crusty loaf of bread and you are good to go!

  • 2 lbs. Great Northern Beans
  • 6 cups Vegetable broth
  • 2 cups of red wine
  • 1 large onion cut into chunks
  • 1 28 oz. can of crushed tomatoes
  • 6 medium carrots sliced into ½” pieces
  • 1 lb. Italian sausage partially cooked and sliced
  • 2 lbs. pork shoulder cut into chunks
  • 1 lb. slab bacon cut into chunks
  • 10-12 sprigs of parsley
  • 10-12 sprigs of thyme
  • 1½ tsp. allspice
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • ½ tsp. pepper

  • Preheat your oven to 250F.
  • Tie the thyme and parsley sprigs with butcher’s twine. (This will be added to the casserole)
  • Place all the cut meat in a large bowl and add the allspice, salt and pepper and coat well.
  • Rinse the beans and place in a large pot with enough water to cover on medium heat. Simmer for about 20 minutes and drain.
  • In a large oven safe casserole place the beans, vegetable broth, tomatoes, meats and tied herbs.
  • Cover and cook for about two hours.
  • Uncover and add the wine.
  • Continue to cook for an additional hour or until the beans and meat are fork tender.

4. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. Always a highlight of these posts is getting to share with you what got my interest this past week.  Needless to say there was plenty!!

And my favorite this week is this amazingly beautiful stationery from Nico and Lala, soooo fabulous! I love the navy with the peachy tones, has me thinking of creating an event just to use these:)

5. A PRINCESS DIANA HOLIDAY. One of my all time favorite people, Princess Diana to me, was one of the kindest, most empathetic, humble and most misunderstood people. I so admired and was greatly  inspired by her. I was thrilled to learn that a holiday has been established in her honor, fittingly called National Kindness Day.

Also to mark the 20th anniversary of her death (I still remember the night it happened, being awake at around 11:30 and shockingly watching the breaking news come through) there will be a year long series of events organized by The Diana Award, an organization that keeps her spirit and charitable giving alive. For more info click here.

6.NEEDLE AND THREAD. I have been a fan every since I discovered this affordable but so exquisite line of beaded dresses, tops and skirts. The detailing is so beautiful. Everyone one of these tops, I am in love with. They could be dressed up with a beautiful ballgown skirt or slightly dressed down with a pair of velvet pants. Every one of these is so gorgeous and some are even on sale!! Click here to see the entire collection of Needle and Thread.

And if you have a dressy affair coming up, absolutely check out Net a Porters unbelievable sale on gowns, some are up to 70% off!! Click here to see them all…..

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY. So we got another light snow yesterday (enough to make everything look pretty)  and I declared that I am pretty much over winter now. One big and one light snow, let’s move onto spring!

I used to love winter when we would go skiing and the kids were young but now I could happily skip over it. I LOVE fall and spring and summer are tied right behind it. The older I get the more I am feeling done with this frigid season that goes right to your bones and don’t get me started on it getting dark before 5pm! How about you…..what are your thoughts on old man winter?

Well friends that’s a wrap! Hope you enjoyed this post, thanks for stopping by and of course so enjoy hearing from you. Please be patient as we continue to button up the site, knowing we will be working on things all week long….it will be improving one day at a time:) Wishing you a wonderful and hopefully relaxing Sunday, until next time…..
