Seven on Sunday

Good Sunday morning to you. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Here the sun and beautiful skies have come out after a few dreary, rainy and cold days.  I have a full weekend planned and setting up for a luncheon I am hosting this week so plenty to keep me busy today. Here we go with my Seven on Sunday-

1 SHUTTER COLOR IS DECIDED!! Thanks to all who chimed in about my shutter paint color last week. I hemmed and hawed and something about my final choices was not quite right. So…….I kept on trucking and knew I would find just the right color.

It had come down to Silvermist or Nimbus Gray but I wanted something with a tinge more blue and a bit less gray.  Yes my husband thought I had lost it with the amount of time I was putting into it and yes, my persistence paid off.

I found “the one”. And  am100% sure about it. I even love the name, Nantucket Fog. As I started to do some research, it appears this is also a favorite of many designers. Here you go…..

And here it is on a piece of wood to get an idea of how it will look on a shutter, love it! Its a true blue/gray a little deeper than some of the others but I took. many’s advice about the strong fading sun and think this has just enough contrast.

2.THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DENTAL OFFICE Oh my…I have never seen such a chic dental office..have you? Mine sure does not look like this, this is downright dreamy!! Summer Thornton is the mastermind behind this beautiful office, incredible!!

I always have said if I owned a traditional office like a doctors office (or dental) that I would really work to make it feel like an upscale private home and that is exactly what she did…..brava to her!

Click here to see this incredible space and others.

3 OFF SHOULDER TOPS Loving this new style…so fresh and pretty, and they just scream chic summer dressing. I had to give in and buy a few to jumpstart my summer wardrobe. You dont’ have to wear them completely off the shoulder but these are all beautiful looks for warm weather dressing.

Ordered this, it is so darling and I thought the price was a mistake, $35.00 really? Click here

Got this a few weeks ago, love this color!!! A beautiful top dressed up or down. Click here

Love navy and white together and this simple navy peasant blouse is not only so reasonable but makes dressing a cinch, click here

Considering this one, love pink and with white slacks would be perfect for a daytime or even evening outing.  So delicate and feminine…beautiful! I have a few showers coming up and this would be perfect. Click here

4 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. No theme in particular this weekend,  just a random group of fabulousness! You can see I had a hard time this week narrowing it down…..

My fave of this week is this gorgeous picture….it is a sure sign of a very devoted Enchanted Home customer!

5. FABULOUS PILLOWS. I have worked with Studio Tullia. and my backyard and patios in the summer are a testament to just how much I love their pillows!

Some of the new arrivals from Studio Tullia have me swooning and daydreaming about a little tweaking of my very own:) Click here to see more…

6. PROVENCE PLANTER MAKEOVER! So with the planting season on our doorstep, lots of us are starting to think about coming out of hibernation and the great outdoors. Of course that means sprucing up our patios and of the first impression people get….our front doors!

So happy the Provence planters are coming back in about 2 weeks! I love giving “Provence planter makeovers”. This is a recent one when a customer needed some direction on her front door. A beautiful home that deserved an equally beautiful front door welcome. The planters presently there were way too small and actually dwarfed everything around it. When it doubt go a little bigger, not smaller.

She wasn’t sure about the color Provence planter she wanted, but we both decided black was the way to go. So stately and elegant, and it accents her black shutters beautifully. Take a look at the mini Provence planter makeover-

BEFORE

AFTER (CONCEPT)-

And even tried using two smaller Provence planters by the front door…..

OR Boxwood balls

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY The other day I had forgotten my phone aka my lifeline. I was heading to an appt. and already running late,  had no time to go back and get it and felt the anxiety rising in me about not being reachable. The shock and awe of realizing I had left it behind was telling:)  I contemplated turning around but didn’t because it would have delayed me and I couldn’t be late.

So the strangest thing happened, I went to my appt. anxiety and all, then ran a few errand afterwards and you know what? I LOVED the freedom it gave me,  I also loved the idea of unplugging (a happy accident) and taking in everything around me instead of hearing the beeps and rings go off and being distracted by my phone as is often the case.

There was something incredibly freeing about it and I really enjoyed the 3 hours or so that I didn’t have my phone. Make no mistake when I got back it looked like a mini airplane terminal with all the sights, sounds and lights going off at once from various people trying to reach me (and that includes solicitors). But I realized not only can I live without it but I actually liked being without it. And vowed to start doing this on a regular basis. Even if for an hour, it is good for mind, body and soul.

What do you think? Do you regularly “unplug” or is it just unimaginable? I will be curious to see what you have to say on the matter……

That’s a wrap, thanks as always for stopping by. Tomorrow is delivery day of the huge container of porcelains, that is always an exciting day! Wishing you a wonderful day and a great end to your weekend!:) Until next time….

Happy Easter to all of my fellow Easter celebrating friends and readers. To  my Jewish friends and readers, hope you enjoyed a wonderful Passover. Beautiful day here, with a high getting to a whopping 76 degrees, practically summer!  I want to announce the winner of the chinoiserie tole tray. Congrats goes to-

#132 NORTH SHORE MIMI

Please email info@enchantedhome.com to provide your shipping address and color choice so this tray can be on it’s way!

Wishing everyone a wonderful and blessed day with your family and. loved ones. My parents are in town so it’s going to be a day of family and togetherness (less two sons who are at Coachella, they CLAIM they did not realize it was Easter when they booked the trip…uh huh:)  Here we go with my Seven on Sunday-

1 FABRICS AND TRIMS…OH MY! I so love playing with fabrics and a current job that has been ongoing is starting to get the finishing touches.

This job is one I have been working on for the last several months and it is shaping up so beautifully. I shared some pics here (the NJ project) and will surely show a final reveal when the room is totally done. The final element will be the fabulous Ralph Lauren rug being made (to be delivered in May. We just firmed up all the pillows to be made, here is the rug-

The beautiful rug from Ralph Lauren is being made for them and due here within the month and feast your eyes on all the fabulous trims-

2 FOLLOWUP REPORTS ON A FEW THINGS I recommend things that I like and share my ideas often. Sometimes its fun to follow up when I really really like something. So here are a few recent “reviews”

Get these shoes! Love them, they are so comfortable now have them in two colors. Very chic, super comfy and a great everyday espadrille. Click here for info

These also are too cute, love the color and great scalloped shape plus the color screams ‘warm weather dressing,  here I come”! Click here for info

And finally have been using Glopro for about 10 days,  using it 3 times a week. I just recently learned what microstiumlation/mircroneedling is…and it makes perfect sense to now be able to do it at home, as traditionally this was done in a dermatologists office. It’s easy peasy but I swear its not my imagination, I think my skin is looking better and better.

I have good skin but as this sheds that first sloughy layer off of skin, so allows the skin to breath and open up the pores.  My favorite moisturizer, La Prairie really penetrates the skin. I will say this was well worth the investment and I am going to continue to do this 2-3 times a week as recommended.

I bought mine at Nordstrom as they stand behind their products no questions asked, just in case I didn’t like it. So far though, it is an absolute keeper and I think the buzz Glopro is getting is well deserved. For what a dermatologist charges, this thing pays for itself in one visit. Click here for info

Great article in the NY Times, “How to reduce wrinkles without lasers or chemicals” click here to read

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. Very “Easter heavy” and why not, it only comes once a year with a healthy dose of spring and all around pretty thrown in!

4.GORGEOUS NEEDLEPOINT PILLOWS. I so love this exquisite line of very fine needlepoint/aubusson pillows. Got in a handful and will be offering them in a flash sale soon, to “test” the market before I commit to a large order. Thoughts welcome! Please participate in this short poll-

5. PRETTIEST SCONCES! I am excited to soon start carrying this most beautiful line and went with a client to the company headquarters to see them in person. So spectacular!! I have used them for years and often use them in jobs as well, made of the highest quality.

I am using a number of them for my PB home and have their more traditional ones in my current home. Here are some of what I saw….not one I don’t just love.

And this lamp I have used so many times and for good reason,  it is positively gorgeous-

6. MR TEDDY BUNNY. Always save the best for last, say hello to our resident Easter bunny…never seen one cuter! He wishes all of you a very happy happy Easter Sunday but demanded these darn ears get taken off right after his pic was taken, he said they made him look like a donkey. What can I say, he is one smart dog:)

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY. So today, this is about summer and your plans or lack of plans: Never have I appreciated and enjoyed the blessing of no agenda as I do now that am working full time.

For me summer signifies the loosening up of a strict regimented non stop schedule. Its time to sit back and indulge in cocktails (sometimes before 5), lobster rolls and beach days. Of course mixed in with work as life doesn’t stop but taking more time to chill. Summer almost feels like a “temporary free pass” to take extra time off and relax a bit more than we might other seasons. How about you? What does summer mean to you?

And that my friends is a wrap. Hope you enjoyed this post. Wishing everyone a Happy Easter and a happy Sunday.

Always love to hear from you and happy you make me a part of your Sunday every weekend morning. Until next time…….

AS OF MONDAY MORNING- Brand new flash sale on the most exquisite line of brass/crystal lamps. You will not find  more beautiful lamps! Click here to view

________________

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Spring finally seems to be making it’s way in, and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s a slow process but the signs are all here and we have had a nice springy weekend……. bring on the al fresco living!

I must mention that I was incredibly flattered to have been featured/interviewed over at a dear blogging fiends blog, Hello Lovely. Michele is a gem and wove a pretty awesome story/post about me, as only she can. She put a lot into this post so hope you will stop over and say hello.

It might be fun for you to read this interview also because she dug up a bunch of pictures from our building process and it was entertaining even for me:) Click here to be taken away to Michele’s loveliness over at Hello Lovely.

Thank you Michele for such a wonderful and flattering feature:)

1 THE GIRL WITH 15 VOICES. I was blown away by this girl….she sings 15 different of the world’s best female voices nearly flawlessly. Really entertaining to watch, you can fast forward to get a quick glimpse of each of the superstar “voices”. I watched the entire thing pretty dumbfounded over how easily she can transition to another powerhouse voice. Talented girl!

Her Shakira, Britney, Celine Ellie Goulding are spot on…..pretty amazing!

2 BEAUTIFUL ART.  I love highlighting the work of various artists that cross my path. I have found so many through the wonderful world of blogging, Instagram and even Pinterest. I just adore the work of  Kate Drenckhahn.

I was the very lucky recipient of a beautiful blue and white ginger jar painting from uber stylish icon,  Bettie Pardee. This beautiful piece was painted by equally talented Kate Drenckhahn. I love her take on so many subjects and was really happy to discover her, click here to see more of her beautiful work.

Speaking of Bettie, love this picture she sent me of her Enchanted Home mug  being put to good use:)

And now a look at Kate’s gorgeous work… I love that she has turned all these beauties into the most darling notecards and stationery. Everything is so darn pretty! Click here to see more

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST SO  much beauty to share this week, makes me so happy to settle in with my iPad after a long day and to take in the beautiful and inspiring world of Instagram. Here are this weeks picks-

Here is this weeks fave…just way too cute for words!!!  I just want to pinch (ever so gently) those darling little thunder thighs:)

4. FUN SPRINGY/SUMMER TOPS. I love soft cottony tops, paired with white pants or capris, it is an instant winning combination for warm weather dressing.

Found all these under the brand Aqua at Bloomingdales, not a single one over $68 PLUS you get an extra whopping 25% off when you use the code FRIENDS. This incredible sale ends today, so don’t miss out! Bring on the warm weather! Click here  to see all of Aqua’s great tops and to get inspired for spring/summer dressing.

5 NEW FABRICS TO LUST OVER. I have been very immersed in the world of fabrics these last few months. Working on a few jobs that took me to all kids of wonderful fabric and trim shops and of course this always gets my creative juices flowing.

I have somewhat neglected to do a few spruce up in my own home. One thing that really needs to be done is my breakfast room chairs. Kudos to Lee Jofa which has made a fabric that still looks pretty darn good after 16 years!! That is crazy. these chairs have lasted so long As much as I love my little pugs and will miss them, their time has come. It’s time to bring in something new and fresh.

Funny that many of the fabrics I found and loved are ironically again from Lee Jofa. I want to go with a “Provence vibe” so florals and checks are totally appropriate. Here are some I came up with-

Just love the one above and the on below for a true Provence vibe, favorite color combination

This one above is very pretty too…so fresh and love the blues

Love playing with these and adding a buffalo check for an extra dose of charm

This velvet above is sooo gorgeous in person, I would love to see it on an ottoman or bench.

6 A VERY EXCITING DEVELOPMENT! So remember I broke the news to you that finally after almost looking for a good , CAPABLE, reliable source to develop the tulipieres, I found one? Well the first sample mold is back and might I say this has me quite excited. These beauties will be offered in two sizes, one about 22″ and the other will be a mini 14″.

Now I am waiting for the first painted sample. People,  this is really happening!! I am already planning out how I will use mine. It will be a tulip party everyday:) This has me wanting to run through the tulips with happiness……

We are going through the design process now and I am waiting on the first sample back. With luck I will have these in late May, stay tuned!

Now it’s onto the design details which are in the works as I speak it is a very interesting, labor intensive and time consuming process but will be worth it in the end!

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY. OK today’s topic is movies. I looooove a good movie. I tend to like real movies though, something with a meaningful storyline that really makes me think and feel, a story I can relate to. I do not care for blood, gore, violence, nudity….that does nothing for me.

Give me a good movie that will make me laugh like a hyena or cry like a baby and I am happy as can be. Sadly there seems to be less and less of those. I often find myself watching a favorite movie over and over and have a list of about 20 that I love and could watch monthly (and often do).  But I know there has to be more out there…and that is where you come in!

Would love your take and if you want to include ONE favorite movie that you think you should share with all of us in hopes that maybe it’s something I haven’t seen. Here is a punctuated list of some of my faves in no particular order that I have seen over and over-

    • A Good Year
    • Dr. Zhivago
    • Something’s Gotta Give
    • The English Patient
    • Jane Eyre
    • Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil
    • Under The Tuscan Sun
    • Its complicated
    • Bottleshock
    • The Namesake
    • Midnight in Paris
    • Pride and Prejudice
    • The Horse Whisperer
    • Steel Magnolias
    • Love Story
    • Great Expectations
    • A Beautiful Mind
    • The Notebook
    • Well Diggers Daughter
    • Good Will Hunting
    • The Way
    • Devil wears Prada

Where it says “other” you can put one movie you love (if it’s not on my list above) that you think all of us movie buffs should know about!

Hope you enjoyed my Seven on Sunday and hope you enjoy this day of rest. Funny, I drove past a field yesterday with a bunch of pint sized lacrosse players “warming up” for their game and got so teary eyed. I was instantly brought back to memories of my own little lacrosse warrior and just couldn’t help but feel incredibly nostalgic over “the good ol days”.

Spring always takes me back to the spring sports season which I must admit I miss more than I ever thought possible. I would trade my lazy Sundays in a heartbeat for a day packed with games cheering my son on. OK,  I am snapping out of it…back to reality!! Hope you have a wonderful end to your weekend. Until next time….

And tomorrow is a big day….the 2 day presale begins on the most gorgeous chinoiserie tole coming in about 3 weeks. This includes a huge shipment of bamboo lanterns, Provence planters, fabulous new lamps, the sold out bathroom accessories and more. So be sure to check back tomorrow:)

Seven on Sunday

Hello and happy Sunday….finally starting to feel like spring after a dreary, cold rainy few days here in NY.  FINALLY! Hope you are having a great weekend, things are good here especially now that the sun is shining.

Heading into the city today and have a full schedule, but a fun one:)  After busy chock full work weeks, I love my Sundays, to pretty much do as I please. Here we go with my Seven on Sunday…..

1 WONDERFUL VALIDATION FOR MY BLOG/SHOP. Two things happened lately with regard to my blog/shop that really validate what I do and why I love it, and boy, did it make me feel good.

My blog was nominated for best blog in the interior design category for the JDR Industry Awards!! So exciting, if you haven’t voted and like me, really really like me, perhaps you will want to vote for me? It only takes two seconds (literally). Click here to vote

Then I was given a heads up by many readers/customers that in the April issue of House Beautiful, I was mentioned as being a “go to” source for blue and whites by renowned designer Gerald Pomeroy. What a validation!! Thank you:)

2.THE ULTIMATE RIVER CRUISE. River cruises have become a big deal. Well, a new boat is in town and it is most definitely going to be the grande dame of river cruises! Say hello to the S.S. Joie de Vivre which will soon set sail the Seine.

It almost looks like something out of a James Bond movie, and is undeniably very luxurious. Though I have never personally had any interest in going on one, this amazing vessel could well change my mind.  Click here to find out more. Luxury overload….

3. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. So much beauty this week, it was hard to narrow it down. I love the daily inspiration I find on Instagram, here are this weeks picks-

My favorite this week is this beautiful picture, this is Sharon Santoni’s house in France, looks right out of a storybook!

4 A NEW ESPADRILLE I AM IN LOVE WITH. Found these and love them, so much so that I just ordered them in another color.

They are leather so really comfy and allow your feet to breath. In fact I will be wearing them on my jaunt to the city today. They are the perfect daytime shoe with a slight wedge, love these!! Click here to see

5 PILLOW FEVER. So I have had a bunch of pillows made for a variety of reasons, clients, a concept house and then of course a few for me:)  The reaction when I shared them was tremendous so I am excited to announce that we are going to be offering them up for sale within a few weeks time. I love them all but think this first one might just be my most fave…I mean come on, a ginger jar trim, does it get better?

This is a striae rich soft velvet with a thick ginger jar trim, will be offered in five velvet colors

The famed Bali Hai from Quadrille is a classic and gorgeous in both green and blue. Excited to be offering both.

6.GLOPRO. I have been hearing a lot about this and I feel like every time I open a magazine,  it’s being talked about. Read an interesting article in Vogue not long about  the newest rage in skincare,  Micro-needling is a new concept to me, but I am intrigued. Anything that triggers the natural exfoliation/rejuvenation process gets my attention!

So I took the plunge and this much buzzed about gadget is on its way,  would love to know if anyone has used  it? A friend of mine got hers a week ago and said she can, after only a few uses see her skin looking better…sounds like a good testament to me. Anyone else? Click here to learn more....

7 SUNDAY’S SEVEN. OK, this week is about reading. I used to be a pretty voracious reader. I used to also have the luxury of a lot more time, and I am going back to before technology and gadgets took over our lives. I also belonged to a book club which i loved and anticipated every month. Then all kinds of things happened and I feel like I hardly read anymore. Yet, when I do finally settle into a good book, Iam reminded of the power of getting lost in a really great novel.

Vacations always meant loading up on books and often I would read 2 or 3,but now I have my iPad and instagram and Words with Friends and all kinds of other outside interference invade. Or maybe it’s a late stage of ADD or maybe just maybe this is a trend in which I am not alone. I think I need to allot a certain amount/period of time a week to devote to reading and try and stick to it as I would any other appointment. So tell me which best describes you and reading…..

Anything here get your attention? Thank you as always for stopping in, wishing everyone a wonderful, beautiful springy day and hope the birds are chirping wherever you might be. Until next time….

Seven on Sunday

Hello friends! I prepared this ahead of time, hope it behaves and posts on Sunday morning as it is supposed to. By the time you are reading this I will have been in one my most favorite places, Palmetto Bluff,  then onto to see friends elsewhere for a birthday celebration.

Hope you are enjoying a great and hopefully springy like weekend. Though it was not a very harsh winter, it felt like a loooooong winter. I am so ready to welcome that warm spring air and fresh cut green grass! Here we go with my Seven on Sunday-

1 NEW PRODUCTS I AM EXCITED ABOUT! I had bought a flatware service similar to this below years ago and so love the set and regretting that I did not but more, was disappointed when I could not find them again. I cannot tell you how many people have emailed me on where to find them.

So……an idea was born, I would recreate them! And I did! Love this pattern and these along with the others I featured not long ago will all be in production by next week. With luck I will have them in early to mid May. Stay tuned as I will be doing an early presale to help me gauge my numbers…..

In addition to the other flatware styles I showed you, this one above will be offered as a five piece place setting along with salad servers and serving spoons/forks.

GORGEOUS new tole pieces coming in late April, can I say they are just getting better and better, and seeing how each piece is handpainted…..makes them really special:) Already plotting where I can use a few of these:)

Fabulous new blue/white lamps

More stunning bamboo lanterns coming this way soon!

2. AMAL CLOONEY…….ONE IMPRESSIVE LADY The more I read about her the more I like and respect her. You may have seen her making the rounds lately on her latest cause…she is a complete breath of fresh air in the sometimes ridiculous world of Hollywood, a wonderful humanitarian and an inspiration to all women.

She has taken on what many see as an epidemic, the genocide being inflicted upon countless innocent civilians on The Yazidis. It is unimaginable and reading this story gave me chills…..it is hard to imagine that just a plane ride away, lives such brutality, such evil.

I really respect the attention she is giving this plight and of course also love that as a women with tremendous reach and power, she is highlighting a dire situation beyond comprehension that simply should not be. Read the entire article here.

3. FUN EARRINGS FOR THE SUMMER . I love wearing fun earrings in the summer, they go with the easy breeze lighter clothes, and fun summery styles. The bon bon earrings have become such a huge hit, and the best part is they are as light as a feather. Found these at Bitz of Glitz…very very cute! Click here to see more

_________________

4. CHICKEN THAT IS FINGER LICKING GOOD I made Ina Garten’s Tuscan Lemon Chicken and can attest to the fact that it’s one of the best chicken dishes I have ever eaten AND its diet friendly so big points for that.

I grilled vegetables on the side, had a big salad and the chicken…it was a very satisfying dinner with leftovers! This is honestly as good cold as it is off the grill and is a summer staple in my home. Click here for the recipe

5. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Everything today is so pretty….very springy. And why not, we have waited a long long time to celebrate the arrival of spring.

These pictures make me want to go and open my windows and let the sunshine in, but then I look outside and still see dark, crusted, icy snow. A reminder that winter is still kinda here so these pictures will have to suffice for now:)

6. A VERY EXCITING PROJECT. I have a few really exciting projects going on…..makes me happy:) But this one in particular really makes is getting my creative party juices flowing.

I was hired to help someone with  a large scaled June rehearsal dinner in sunny Florida at a private club…and she chose wisely because she is doing an all blue and white theme!! Here is one of the concept boards we are came up with…going to be F A B U L O U S!!! We just finalized all the pieces for the tables and bar area (some are below) and now working on flowers. Silver lining here- she is going to have one stunning blue and white collection after this party!

Will be sure to share with you some of the “after” pictures when the party takes place in June!

7 SUNDAYS SURVEY I have a friend who is selling her home and buying a new one. She is considering going with a totally new look and I mean totally starting from scratch. Her old home was a bit old fashioned traditional, many beautiful things but some of it appeared dated. She is thinking she wants to go with a clean/crisp transitional aesthetic that is so big right now. Her husband is not so sure but is allowing her to make this decision. The thing is she wants to have a tag sale and get rid of everything and I mean everything. She wants to only leave with her personal possessions and start anew.

We have been talking a lot about this big change and it got me thinking….if you could would you totally redo everything you have? Can you imagine leaving every item you own (furniture wise) behind? I personally am very attached to a number of my things and many have a story that makes them extra sentimental.  I get it…these are just things however they are things that I love and have meaning to me. I know I could not leave it all behind but apparently many can and do.

So, could you and would you? Curious as to what you think…..

That wraps up my Seven on Sunday this week. How about you? Anything exciting happening on your end? I always love hearing from you, so feel free to chime into the conversation. Hope you are enjoying a fabulous weekend. Until next time…

Seven on Sunday

Happy Sunday morning! Hope you are all doing well and enjoying a nice weekend. Our weekend weather has been frigid, feels like the coldest air all winter long. Last week I was sure spring was arriving early. I am so over winter but to be fair, our winter has been quite mild so I will not complain plus spring is just a matter of weeks away, woo hoo!

Had a nice weekend, was in the city, had dinner with friends, today is my day of rest, my long awaited “lazy Sunday” where I pretty much get to do as I please….love Sundays, but only after having a little brunch today with a few out of town guests. Funny that I  now love Sundays,  ironic considering I used to consider them my least favorite day. Go figure. Here we go with Seven on Sunday….

1 MY CHINOISERIE TOLE IS IN! Oh my, so excited about getting this. It is in and the trucker was on his way to deliver on Friday but hit the motherload of traffic. So….he is coming Monday morning! Might I say they get better each time they come in.  For anyone who placed a website order for any of these items, your orders will be the first to ship, feel free to give us a call at 1-800-804-9565 with any questions or to check status.

I did not do a presale as I normally do since I did not have suitable pictures, so instead going to offer a 2 day arrival sale starting later Monday. Be on the lookout for it, plus a giveaway. Here is a sneak peek into what is arriving tomorrow-

2 A MOVIE I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE I must say these days I am not so impressed with what Hollywood is coming out with, and find myself watching older movies that I love over and over along with many foreign films and of course my favorite genre, documentaries.

But this one looks like a winner, called Gifted, it has a real life story with meaning, emotion and connection. I cannot wait to see it when it opens-

3 AN AMAZING BAKERY RIGHT IN NYC! There is a company in Korea who  makes cupcakes like this that I discovered on Instagram and I am just in awe everytime. Then I found this bakery right here n NYC,  which makes the same kinds of cupcakes/cakes. Love the name, Cream Blossoms and I cannot wait to visit on my next trip into the city!

These are sooo beautiful! I may just made a quick side excursion when I go to the city on Wed. How beautiful would these be for a luncheon, bridal or baby shower? Edible works of art indeed. Click here to learn more

4 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Always look forward to sharing with you what have I found and loved on Instagram this week. amazingly I am never at a loss of having plenty to post. Often it’s hard to narrow it down. Here are this weeks picks along with my favorite.

My favorite has to be this, this is what I refer to as “house perfection” in pretty much every sense-

5 LEGACY BOX. Has anyone used them? If so please do share your experience!! I am excited about this little adventure. My most prized possessions are my pictures and videos of my kids/family….nothing else comes even close but I really need to do something about the boxes and boxes of stored videos and pictures I have.

I am dying to give this a try, as I have countless videos, VHS tapes, CD’s and a million pictures that I would love to be able put on a few convenient DVD’s. Love the idea that you can load up a box with all of the above and get everything transferred back in a few simple DVD’s….priceless really!!! I think I am going to make the leap and at least start with a few, I could keep them busy for many years to come:) Click here to learn more and use code SUPER for a whopping 50% off!

6.EAT ME GUILT FREE. A friend just gave me one of these heavenly brownies that she swears by for her occasional indulgence in something sweet. I could not believe these are anything but a super rich, decadent highly caloric indulgence. Eat Me Guilt Free was created by a nurse and nutritionist  who made a full line for her patients/customers wanting a healthy, high protein treat, these are super high in protein, have no flour and are gluten free.

Our family is watching what we eat and really concentrating on a healthier diet, which has had me rethinking a lot of food choices and we are both feeling better. However I will never stop loving an occasional sweet so to not feel like you are totally depriving yourself of something you love, I think is really important which is why these are a great find. Guilt free:)

Sure enough they are in fact diet friendly and super delicious!! Dieting can be fun after all…well maybe not quite fun but bearable! There is an entire line of amazing treats, including a wonderful little birthday cake. Click here for more information.

Apparently these “:crack cookies” are insanely delicious and next on my list to try

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY OK this week is about quality. I could write a book on my feelings of how words like “customer service” has gone down the drain and how the notion of what makes something high quality is almost obsolete. Those might be separate polls! I find in general the quality of every day things to have really gone down.

We put in a pretty sophisticated smart system in our home, I personally did not want it but it was my husbands thing and I let him do it. To this day, I cannot stand it. It is a constant battle between me and the remote, and remote normally outsmarts me. But I cannot tell you how many small technical issues I have had…frustrating with a capital F!

If there is one brand that I would think is synonymous with the word quality it would be Apple. Well…..even Apple has let me down. Bought a few i macs for my office, one of them literally died after 2 months!!! They replaced the entire logic board, but still it was me having to deal with the hassle. Bought a new wireless keyboard, it will not hold a charge. It is 8 days old! What? This is Apple we are talking about, I always thought of them delivering a perfect, flawless product. What is happening!! Do you think in general quality of items has gone down? Curious if I am just on a malfunction streak or this is widespread?

PS My newest contest was announced a few days ago. Can take up to 75 pictures, already have about 25, the last day to send yours in is March 12th. A few rules-

Seven on Sunday

Hello and happy Sunday morning, actually make that happy Oscar Sunday! I love all the  pomp and circumstance around the Oscars and the glamour of it all is such fun to watch. Look forward to seeing who takes top prize….and of course really looking forward to seeing what everyone is wearing, that’s the fun part:)

I know many of you are frustrated (as am I) about a few things still not corrected on my blog, no pinterest button, some still not getting emails. A new company was hired and working fast and furious behind the scenes and within 2 weeks a new and better version of what I have now will be launched, I promise you will say it was worth the wait. And to give you a sneak peek, check out the cutest pinterest button I dreamed up..might be the cutest button known to mankind-

Is that the greatest? A ginger jar Pinterest button! Give it another two weeks and you can use it to your hearts content:)

Had a very nice weekend,  yesterday it was 72 degrees!!! Unheard of!  Had with a little adventure, time spent with friends and my beloved down time is on the horizon for today…and then its red carpet time and thats when I get down to some serious TV watching. I had told myself i was going to have an Oscar get together this year but I have been working and going non stop so decided it will be a party of two tonight:)

Hope your weekend is going well, onto my Seven on Sunday….

1 TWO NEW PRODUCTS I AM OBSESSED WITH. So a friend turned me onto this first one, then a reader told me she cannot live without it and indeed it is scrumptious.

Jo Malones newer fragrance Peonies and Blush Suede is heaven in a bottle…rather obsessed with it. I am really picky about fragrance (and big fan of Jo Malone) and this is my favorite scent of hers yet, feminine and soft, yummy! Click here

I had been given a small sample of this and loved the smell (soft roses) but the product delivers! Its a fantastic mask that left my skin feeling and smelling heavenly. Plus its not a crazy expensive product, which is always a nice perk. Click here

2 A BEAUTIFUL VIDEO THAT MIGHT INSPIRE US ALL TO DO AN ACT OF KINDNESS TODAY. Have seen this before but happy I came across it again. Is there any better feeling than giving to someone who needs it? This little tyke shows the true meaning…really worth watching and sharing (if you haven’t before)

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Love my roundup this week and so enjoy getting to discover new finds on Instagram, it is really quite an amazing world! Beautiful interiors, incredible food, fashion…it’s all here today-

My favorite this week, not that it really needs an explanation is this simply because this is shoe perfection-

4.SURVIVAL OF THE RICHEST? No this is not out of the next Bourne Identity  but real life people.I read first about this in New Yorker magazine, and was both fascinated and freaked out. I, being an eternal optimist refuse to let a doomsday scenario pervade my mind. Yet one progressive thinker has built a luxury bomb shelter. There will be everything from a library to a dog park to a rock climbing ball to replicate “outside life” as much as possible (scary thought).

So some brainchild, bought an old army base and has turned it into uber luxury  bomb proof condos, and guess what? Even if you wanted to buy one…you can’t!  They are sold out with an apparent wait list. Crazy? A bit if you ask me. Here is a look at some of the apartments Click here to learn more

Here is a fascinating video (dont be put off by the beginning it gets pretty fascinating)!

5. A FAVORITE SALAD. Yes, we are talking the dreaded “D” word, so much for winter hibernation, spring is not far along so its time to get svelte for the warmer seasons ahead. Its been salad city over here so creativity is a must!!

One favorite salad is this take on a Mexican salad, for the protein you can add chicken or shrimp. The dressing is yummy and low cal

  • Mixed greens (whatever kind you like)
  • Kale (optional)
  • one can corn
  • one can black beans
  • tomato
  • cucumber
  • red onion
  • low fat shredded cheese (optional)
  • carrots
  • scallions
  • 1/4 cup Greek yogurt
  • lemon or lime (fresh)
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1 avocado diced
  • 4 TBSP olive oil
  • 1/2 cup water
  • pinch of salt and pepper

Mix all ingredients together except last five. For dressing mix the yogurt, cilantro and diced avocado in a mixer/Cuisinart until pureed. Add salt and lemon juice, dress salad accordingly only right when you are ready to serve (so it doesn’t get soggy) I keep the dressing in a mason jar. Bon appetit!

It’s so good even health nut Teddy couldn’t get enough…..

6 OSCAR TIME!! I love Oscar Sunday and hope within the next few years to go and attend. But in the in the meantime, I will like millions of others be watching Sunday night and lets be real, we love tuning in as much for the fashion as much as the awards show themselves, maybe even more:)

I thought it would be fun to share some of my all time favorite Oscar looks…..will anyone this year be added to this list? Let’s hope!

Cate gets two spots  because to me she is always and I do mean always the epitome of Oscar glam!

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY. OK this is another etiquette based scenario. This is not the first time this has happened. I was at the market this past week, I often do the self checkout simply because I have gotten really quick and efficient at scanning and bagging…go figure!

I will be the first to admit when I get a slow cashier, it is difficult for me to watch them move in  such slow motion, I am a fast mover for the record (not always a good thing)!  So the self checkout is perfect for me.

So…here I am going at a brisk pace with my order, I pay then immediately move to the end to start bagging my things, about half way done of a fairly large order, the person behind me starts scanning her things and all her things come barreling into mine. I gave her a look which was polite but bordered on “don’t you dare” however she kept going. Had it been one or two items, I guess I would have been OK with it, but we are talking a lot of items. I finally had to say something, it was getting ridiculous. It was almost impossible for me to move any faster, so there was truly no logic behind what she did.

Now either I am right or turning into an old lady….no worries I have thick skin:)

Always fun for me to hear your take on things, and I am from the school of thought that I welcome all opinions and recognize there are going to be many different takes, that’s what makes the world go round!

We can agree to disagree sometimes, the key is that it’s done in a respectful and civilized manner. Anywho, many thanks for stopping in, wishing everybody a wonderful and relaxing Sunday, cheers to the Oscars! Until next time…..

PS The handbag promo ends today, for anyone who has called in the order, all calls will be answered tomorrow, otherwise you can email to orders@enchatnedhome.com. Click here to see

Seven on Sunday

Hi friends and Happy Sunday. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!  We had a fun dinner out on Friday, yesterday went to see Sally Field in The Glass Menagerie on Broadway (depressing storyline but really well acted) and went to a  lovely small dinner party last night. I love going to restaurants, but to me nothing beats having dinner in someones home, it is so much more intimate, yet its done less and less.

Today going to relax a while then later hopefully going into the city to visit my oldest son after all its going to be 60 degrees today….makes you want to come out of hibernation! Here we go with this Sundays happenings….

1 EXCITING NEW VENTURE. So behind the scenes, I have some super duper exciting things happening, a few I cannot tell you about quite yet but this one I can because its officially in production! Over the moon with this flatware that I have in the works, expect to have it in April!! I will be offering a “pre-presale” on it very soon.

It will be a win/win- you will get it at the lowest price and I will be able to gauge/tweak the quantities once I see the level of interest. If the feedback I got via Instagram is any indication then I would have to say it will be incredibly well received. Me?I  want a full set of each and already envisioning how I will set the table. So here they are-

Here is a closer look at the patterns- (there will be a five piece place setting for each design, not all pieces shown and possibly some matching serving spoons/forks)

BAMBOO

PAGODA

EQUESTRIAN

And if you don’t mind participating in a mini poll, your feedback is so valuable.

2. THE ARK AT JFK. One of our friends was actually one of the founders of this amazing concept, exciting to see it become a reality and to rave reviews. A major pet hotel/animal terminal at JKF. This was sorely needed!!! When we picked up little Teddy when he was only 8 weeks old from JFK after having been flown in from Arizona, the conditions were at best that of a third world country…it was disgusting and shocking.

This will certainly make many many pet owners the world over thrilled to know their pets are being taken care of in a world class facility. It is really a brilliant concept and I have a feeling one that will be done in many other major airports in then near future. Click here to learn more about it.

3. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. Love my roundup this week, there is lots to love and be inspired by. Instagram is such a wonderful resource to get ideas of every kind, never ceases to amaze!

No this is not Disney, it’s a CAKE!!!!!

My fave this week is this stunning picture, posted by a customer who loves her new ginger jars from my shop!

4.HIGH IN THE SKY! Just in case you have a cool 39 million to spare, you can buy this sprawling 4900 sq foot Astor Suite which is up for sale in the Plaza Hotel.  Considered to be one of the most historic apartments ever for sale boasting such former residents as John Jacob Astor, Duke and Duchess of Windsor and JFK, you simply can’t put a price on that.  Take a look-

And here’s a video to see the whole enchilada-

5.AMAZING LITTLE DANCERS. I love videos of talented kids..can’t you tell:) These pint sized dancers are incredible and with such sass!!! At 7 I was playing with barbies and looking for my next play date! Very entertaining, both super talented but that little boy is really something.

And just in case you missed this one, I had to share it again, one of my favorite songs sung by two insanely talented kids. I could listen to this all day long, one of my faves-

6.CHINA BY MOTTAHEDEH OBSESSION. I LOVE china, I have closets of it and way too much for one person, yet I cannot help myself!! Lately I am obsessing over completing my set of Mottaheheh. Have quite a few pieces but not a complete set of any. I love how you can mix and match many of their blue and white patterns. But I will say to my defense, I really use them, all the time. Click here to visit Mottahedeh. Here are a few favorites-

This is the one I am thinking of adding onto, the dragon plates work so well with many other patterns and are really striking

And in other colors they are equally spectacular-

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY. OK……onto something I have thought many times and curious what you all think. When I am in one of my cooking moods, I always turn on the Food Network to really get me inspired. I am kind of stunned and entertained by the increasingly number of shows featuring these tiny little chefs, they are often as young as 7 or 8!

When they get “cut” it is hard to see their crestfallen little faces, not to mention what does an 8 year old REALLY know about reductions and dry roasting!!  And I think this is just an example of how our society in general is giving things to kids way way too young. You see 2 year olds walking around with their own ipad, 6 year olds with phones and now they have their cooking show. Are they really ready for that and what will there be left in life to want and work for by the time they are 18? On one hand love that it fosters a passion that is no doubt taking our country by storm- food, cooking and chefs has never attained the celebrity status it has now.

But seeing these little tiny people cooking away as though they are experts somehow doesn’t seen natural. When I was little if I wanted to be a cook, I would have had to practice in out kitchen at home with my moms pots and pans, making macaroni and cheese and maybe working my way up to a bunt  cake:) while attaining the goal of being a professional cook one day AS AN ADULT. What’s next,  their own news channel, and lifestyle reality show? That can’t be far behind. Now these quasi chefs/little kids are “living the dream” at 7 or 8. So…….curious as to what you think?

So there you have it,  seven things that got my attention this past week. Anything on your radar? Wishing everyone a wonderful and relaxing Sunday, a great day to recharge for the week ahead. Thank you for stopping in, until next time…..

PS Still working on the subscription issues (about 20% are not receiving the blog) and the Pinterest option, plus a few other things…we ware on it!

Seven on Sunday

Hello and happy Sunday. I want to first announce the winner of the darling travel case from Last Call, congratulations goes to

#29 ELLEN

Please email me your contact info at info@enchantedhome.com so this can be on it’s way!

Hope you are having a nice weekend. Mine has largely centered around my container coming in on Friday, sooo many gorgeous things!! I had a car load to bring home, lol. Tomorrow will be the one day porcelain arrival sale, so do check back. Many beautiful items will be up for grabs.

So the weekend was a busy one,  worked all day at the warehouse getting orders out,  but then got to do a little shopping, had a lovely dinner with good friends, and some always much needed downtime is on the calendar for today! I cherish my Sundays more and more with each and every day. So here we go with my Seven on Sunday…….

MY AMAZING CUSTOMERS. I love getting in pictures from my customers and am soon going to do a post on some recent edesign projects, some astounding before and afters to share!!

Love the pair of lamps and my pillow  in this pretty setting sent in by a customer-

And how pretty does my chunky ginger jar look in this beautiful bathroom!

This is an amazing before and after that you will not believe…this is the almost the after (window treatments and new chair was not in yet)

I will do a more in depth look into this fun project when I do my post but we took furniture that she wanted to keep and her kids deemed old fashioned and gave it new life. I will share much more on this when I do my post-

BEFORE

AFTER/DURING

This is a current project. The customer had bought this new sofa and didn’t like it but couldn’t see getting rid of it. So reupholstery to the rescue. We are revamping this room and it is coming out beautifully…chose a beautiful pale tan tweedy fabric and will do a bunch of blue and cream pillows

BEFORE

AFTER-  Reupholstered the sofa in a beautiful pale tan/beige tweedy fabric and it’s night and day! The chairs are next on the menu, recognize the jars? We put  a sofa table between the sofas and are creating two separate seating areas

2 MY BATHROOM ON WAYFAIR! I was very flattered that the peeps over at Wayfair wanted to feature my bathroom….who says no to Wayfair! Not me:)  Click here to read about what was behind the look I created for my master bath….and thanks Wayfair!

3 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST So much to share, heavily accented with homes and interiors this week along with a few mouth watering foodie pics!

And my fave this week is this one because it is so picture perfect (a baby shower place setting) love it!

4 THE SWEETEST VIDEO My dad sent this and it just warmed my heart. Not only does the Dad have a fantastic voice but watching his daughter do a duet with him with her adorable inflections is just too sweet for words. Not to mention this song is just a heart warmer, really really cute and a beautiful reminder that the best things in life really are free:)

You really have to watch it until she starts belting her part of the song…such a sweet moment.

5 AMAZING LAURIE! I have been a long time fan of Laurie of LB Originals and have an amazing little collection of her beautiful items Not only is she a doll and gem of a person to deal with but she is incredibly thoughtful. I got this most amazing robe from her the other day and am living in it:) I mean seriously…a blue and white pagoda robe, does it get better??? I wake up counting down the hours until I get to come home and slip into it….love it!  Click here to see all of her incredible goodies.

If you want one of your very own, click here.

I also love that she is selling these complete sets of china services combined with her gorgeous stationery items, here are a few.

6.COACH! I remember being in school and Coach being “the” bag to have, it was a huge deal to get one and then as I became an adult I kind of lost interest. It all stared when I was at a luncheon and saw someone with the gorgeous dinky bag…it was love at first sight.

Well, with a new designer at the helm, Coach has reinvented themselves in the most amazing way. I am LOVING so many of their beautiful new items…and gave in to order one of their bags. Here are some faves….click here to see their entire amazing collection.

I was so excited to see these boots on sale….check out all their sales by clicking here

7 SUNDAY’S SURVEY. OK this week is all about etiquette. I was in line a few days ago at Starbucks, and in front of me was a very “busy’ youngish lady. She couldn’t stop moving or fidgeting (like she had too much coffee and to think she was in line to buy more) and was on her phone either texting or talking LOUDLY. So loud that literally the entire Starbucks could hear every word and many were starting at her hoping that the stare down might get her to turn the volume down. But nope did not happen.

It was to me, rude, impolite and disrespectful to all those around her who might just have needed a little downtime and quiet, me being one of them! Let me also add she was not talking about anything life changing, she spoke of her car repair, her daughters birthday party and her manicure appt…..yep! Finally one elderly man does what all of us really wanted to and turns around and politely asks if she can keep it down. She gave him a look that could melt the ice off a snowman and went on with her fast and furious conversation.

Now……..what do you think? Was he right? Wrong? Are you on the fence? I think with social media and our incessant 24/7 connection to our gadgets, there needs to be a whole new set of rules in place. A revised etiquette book if you will……paging Emily Post!

So……anything here get your attention? This was a busy busy week with the container having arrived and this coming week will continue to be busy…but fun! The one day porcelain presale will start tomorrow morning so be sure to check back plus there will be a giveaway.

I am looking forward to having a chill day at home….I need it, plus I love to catch a bit of the Grammy’s as I love music (and all the wacky fashion that will inevitably be on display)!  Thank you for stopping in, until next time…..

Seven on Sunday

Hello and Happy Superbowl Sunday! I have to give us Americans credit, we are so good at coming up with things to celebrate. Golden Globes, Grammys, Superbowl, Academy Awards, always a fun excuse to party!

Hope everyone is enjoying a nice weekend. It’s been quite mild weather wise lately…almost feeling like winter is about done but I somehow think there is more to come. I wouldn’t mind one great big snowfall and then breeze right into spring!

Here things are calm (calm is good) and relaxing….dinner with friends, a beautiful farewell luncheon for an old friend and some downtime (much needed)! Plus it’s Superbowl Sunday, not that I am your biggest football fan but even I get into this iconic American celebration! May the best team win……moving along to my Seven on Sunday.

1 ONE STUNNING TABLE! I found this table setting and it was love at first sight. I love the colors and of course the blue and white accents, it is elegant and even a bit whimsical. Plus I had considered the fabric used on the chairs for a bench I was reupholstering and now kind of hoping I can find another place for it.

This is such a beautiful set up, kind of has me in the mood for a party……..click here to see the entire setup over at Atlanta Homes

2 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST Love the round up this week, the best of the best!! I never cease to be amazed by the sheer beauty that I find on a weekly basis. Think of this as the Oscars of Instagram but on a weekly basis!

And my favorite this week is this one below because well….how perfectly amazing is this!

3 SHOP NEWS Always love to share with you what is happening or on the horizon with my shop. Got in the bamboo lanterns in the medium size which is a great size, I had to share this gorgeous picture of a clients beautiful kitchen with two of them…so fabulous! My customer ordered the ivory/blue, this one is not yet online but we did just get them back in, in the  med and large

Super excited about the container coming in this week then another container arriving in March which will have all kind of gorgeous new pieces-

Loving the tissue holder and wastepaper basket in blue and white-

This can only mean one thing….I MUST have a blue and white bathroom in PB!! The wastepaper basket is below-

Love this fabulous square planterand already have a place for two of them-

Excited to get this wonderful oversized village scene bowl in as well…going to fill it with green apples!

The silver is also en route and I have about 20 new pieces coming in, a few of them are below

4 A PROSECCO FESTIVAL! Who knew!! This is so my kind of festival:) Sounds like a blast, if you ask me. It will take place in May in East London and is four chock full days of bubbly, Italian music, food and masterclasses…how FUN!!! In case you need an excuse for a vacation, here is your opportunity just waiting…… courtesy of Tina:) For more info on this fun event click here

5. SUPERBOWL IDEAS! Well today is the big day…..I will admit I am not a huge football fan (unless one of my sons is playing) but even I get into the whole Superbowl excitement, how can you not, it would almost feel anti American! We were supposed to be away this weekend but plans changed so having a few people over last minute.

We typically have a small group over,  I like to do small bites and normally that is what I do in place of an actual dinner (a non stop revolving door of small bites)  but today I am whipping out the big guns…making a big pot of my most favorite meal of all, Beef Bourguignon Recipe is below along with a few great appetizer ideas in case you need a last minute idea or two-

This is GOOD as in insanely delicious. A tried and true recipe that is a winner. It’s a lot of prep but sooooo worth it!

  • About 3-4 tablespoons light virgin olive oil
  • 8 ounces bacon, chopped (1/2 a package)
  • 2 teaspoons garlic cloves, large chopped pieces (not too fine)
  • 1/2 cup Cognac
  • 1 bottle of good full bodied red wine (ideally like Beaujolais, Cabernet or Burgundy)
  • ?2 cups beef broth (I used Emerils box of beef stock which is a 32 oz box)
  • 1-2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 2-2 1/2 pounds beef cut into 1-inch cubes (I use top round london broil)
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Fresh pepper
  • 1 pound carrots, cut to 1 inch (don’t use baby carrots, they are too soft)
  • 2 med.onions- thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh, thyme leaves (1/2 teaspoon dried) I used a bit more than the recipe called for and always use fresh
  • 4 tablespoons butter at room temperature, melted
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 pound fresh mushrooms (cut off stems and discard) can use more if you are like me and love mushrooms
  • about 3-4 Yukon gold potatoes diced into 1 inch pieces (some also add turnips)

If you have a nice heavy dutch oven, that is preferable otherwise a good stock pot is fine. I used my Le Cruset “weighs a ton” pot but it was perfect for this dish plus its French! Heat the olive oil and add the bacon, cook on medium until fairly crispy. Remove and drain bacon. Add cubed beef (after they have been rinsed, patted dry and sprinkled with sea salt and pepper) one layer at a time and sear the meat, this will take about 4-5 minutes, make sure its seared on all sides. Set aside with the bacon.

Next, you will add carrots, onions, and either potatoes or turnips if you are using them along with salt and pepper to the fat in the pot and cook for about 15 minutes or until soft and onions are lightly browned. Then add garlic and cook for another minute or two. Next add Cognac…you then should take a match and light it right in the pot…STAND BACK while you do this and stare in awe at your budding creation! (This process burns off the alcohol)

Next add the meat and bacon into the pot with the juices already in. Add the bottle of wine and beef broth, this mixture should pretty much cover the meat. Next add tomato paste and thyme. Simmer and then cover…at this point you can either cook it on the stove or transfer to a preheated oven (300 degrees) I cooked mine on the stove.

After about an hour and a half, the meat will be fork tender. On the side, take 2 tbsp of butter and melt then mix with flour and add to stew. In a small saute  pan, melt additional 2 tbsp of butter and saute mushrooms for about 5-10 minutes or until soft. Add to stew, bring to a brief boil and then simmer and cook for an additional 30 minutes. Season to taste. At the end, I add a few additional stalks of fresh thyme…get that  crusty baguette (which I throw on the grill or broiler with olive oil for a minute or two) and wine ready and you are in for a divine treat!

If you want a few good appetizer ideas and want to skip the idea of a fussy meal then these are really good too…..can’t stop at just one! Made these mini taco bites last year and they were a huge hit! Click here for recipe ( I did not used the beans just the hamburger meat and toppings)

Looking forward to trying these crab bites, yummy! Click here for the recipe

And how good do these spinach artichoke bites look plus with the name spinach it automatically means you can eat them to your hearts contest, after all its a “health food:” lol, click here for recipe

6. DESIGNER STAMPS! Oscar de la Renta was one of the most talented and iconic designers ever to walk the fashion globe. I think of beautiful, romantic frocks when I hear  his name and am lucky to own a special dress from him which I will always treasure even if I cannot fit into it anymore:)

So……I was so excited to see his legacy is being honored with these incredible stamps coming out mid Feb. I will never have been so happy to go to the post office!!

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY. This is all about the Superbowl. I will admit I am not a serious football fan, (though I was with the best of them when  my son played in high school) but come Superbowl day I perk up and get into it, however must say the halftime show, palatable excitement  and excuse to enjoy all kinds of great goodies makes the day extra sweet:) So….what best sums up your feelings on this iconic American day?

So friends, that’s whats cooking over there on this beautiful Sunday. Hope whatever you are up to is fun and mostly relaxing..we all need a day to unwind and do just as we please. May the best team win, I know, I know (easy to say when you are neutral)! Until next time…..

PS As of Monday afternoon, there is a new flash sale! The Statuary and Planters flash sale is on for two days only, so many exquisite pieces perfect for spring planting! Click here
