Seven on Sunday

Good Sunday morning to you. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. Here the sun and beautiful skies have come out after a few dreary, rainy and cold days.  I have a full weekend planned and setting up for a luncheon I am hosting this week so plenty to keep me busy today. Here we go with my Seven on Sunday-

1 SHUTTER COLOR IS DECIDED!! Thanks to all who chimed in about my shutter paint color last week. I hemmed and hawed and something about my final choices was not quite right. So…….I kept on trucking and knew I would find just the right color.

It had come down to Silvermist or Nimbus Gray but I wanted something with a tinge more blue and a bit less gray.  Yes my husband thought I had lost it with the amount of time I was putting into it and yes, my persistence paid off.

I found “the one”. And  am100% sure about it. I even love the name, Nantucket Fog. As I started to do some research, it appears this is also a favorite of many designers. Here you go…..

And here it is on a piece of wood to get an idea of how it will look on a shutter, love it! Its a true blue/gray a little deeper than some of the others but I took. many’s advice about the strong fading sun and think this has just enough contrast.

2.THE MOST BEAUTIFUL DENTAL OFFICE Oh my…I have never seen such a chic dental office..have you? Mine sure does not look like this, this is downright dreamy!! Summer Thornton is the mastermind behind this beautiful office, incredible!!

I always have said if I owned a traditional office like a doctors office (or dental) that I would really work to make it feel like an upscale private home and that is exactly what she did…..brava to her!

Click here to see this incredible space and others.

3 OFF SHOULDER TOPS Loving this new style…so fresh and pretty, and they just scream chic summer dressing. I had to give in and buy a few to jumpstart my summer wardrobe. You dont’ have to wear them completely off the shoulder but these are all beautiful looks for warm weather dressing.

Ordered this, it is so darling and I thought the price was a mistake, $35.00 really? Click here

Got this a few weeks ago, love this color!!! A beautiful top dressed up or down. Click here

Love navy and white together and this simple navy peasant blouse is not only so reasonable but makes dressing a cinch, click here

Considering this one, love pink and with white slacks would be perfect for a daytime or even evening outing.  So delicate and feminine…beautiful! I have a few showers coming up and this would be perfect. Click here

4 INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST. No theme in particular this weekend,  just a random group of fabulousness! You can see I had a hard time this week narrowing it down…..

My fave of this week is this gorgeous picture….it is a sure sign of a very devoted Enchanted Home customer!

5. FABULOUS PILLOWS. I have worked with Studio Tullia. and my backyard and patios in the summer are a testament to just how much I love their pillows!

Some of the new arrivals from Studio Tullia have me swooning and daydreaming about a little tweaking of my very own:) Click here to see more…

6. PROVENCE PLANTER MAKEOVER! So with the planting season on our doorstep, lots of us are starting to think about coming out of hibernation and the great outdoors. Of course that means sprucing up our patios and of the first impression people get….our front doors!

So happy the Provence planters are coming back in about 2 weeks! I love giving “Provence planter makeovers”. This is a recent one when a customer needed some direction on her front door. A beautiful home that deserved an equally beautiful front door welcome. The planters presently there were way too small and actually dwarfed everything around it. When it doubt go a little bigger, not smaller.

She wasn’t sure about the color Provence planter she wanted, but we both decided black was the way to go. So stately and elegant, and it accents her black shutters beautifully. Take a look at the mini Provence planter makeover-

And even tried using two smaller Provence planters by the front door…..

7. SUNDAY’S SURVEY The other day I had forgotten my phone aka my lifeline. I was heading to an appt. and already running late,  had no time to go back and get it and felt the anxiety rising in me about not being reachable. The shock and awe of realizing I had left it behind was telling:)  I contemplated turning around but didn’t because it would have delayed me and I couldn’t be late.

So the strangest thing happened, I went to my appt. anxiety and all, then ran a few errand afterwards and you know what? I LOVED the freedom it gave me,  I also loved the idea of unplugging (a happy accident) and taking in everything around me instead of hearing the beeps and rings go off and being distracted by my phone as is often the case.

There was something incredibly freeing about it and I really enjoyed the 3 hours or so that I didn’t have my phone. Make no mistake when I got back it looked like a mini airplane terminal with all the sights, sounds and lights going off at once from various people trying to reach me (and that includes solicitors). But I realized not only can I live without it but I actually liked being without it. And vowed to start doing this on a regular basis. Even if for an hour, it is good for mind, body and soul.

What do you think? Do you regularly “unplug” or is it just unimaginable? I will be curious to see what you have to say on the matter……

That’s a wrap, thanks as always for stopping by. Tomorrow is delivery day of the huge container of porcelains, that is always an exciting day! Wishing you a wonderful day and a great end to your weekend!:) Until next time….

The making of a sunroom……

Hello and hope you are doing well on this fine spring day. So excited to bring you this post! I feel a definite pep in my step now that I can walk out of the house without a jacket and scarf. Forgot just how good it feels! Plus waking up the birds chirping is a sure and welcome sign:)

I recently finished a sunroom that came out so beautiful, I could have moved right in. It was something that was done for a concept house and there was a really short window in which to complete it, what can I say….I work well under pressure! Of course I brought my signature blue and white to the mix as the room just called for it.

I wanted it to be light, airy and welcoming. The beautiful painted brick walls were a wonderful compliment and added a nice touch of texture. Got the beautiful and so affordable furniture from Decor Market which included the elegant sofas, gorgeous pale blue console and one of my favorite coffee tables of all time.

Everything else is from me, it was a great opportunity for me to showoff  some of my favorite things. I loved it so much I even had an ad made, which will be used down the road. So here it is!!  First a look at “behind the scenes” and then at the end is the big reveal of the professional pictures (and my ad).

Here is a “behind the scenes” as this room came together-

This is the space, a pretty painted brick wall and the big windows with the trellis mullions were a naturally pretty starting point

The lighting had to go!

First step was bringing in this fabulous indoor/outdoor rug from Decor Market,  so love it and think I may use this very rug in PB

Many have emailed me about his rug here is the link-

Added one of my favorite coffee tables (can you believe only around $800), also from Decor Market, so chic and stylish

Comfortable classic looking English arm sofas being delivered ( from Decor Market) and we are starting to have a room!

It was the perfect place to add my blue/white bamboo lantern

The very first thing I chose was this beautiful blue. painted French looking chest (Decor Market). It was a beautiful starting point, and from here everything else came together quite effortlessly….

The “ingredients” in a holding pattern

A trusty helper hanging the brackets

And the brackets are up with my mid sized pagodas

How beautiful are these pillows! From Studio Tullia (except the middle one is part of my own collection)

Hard to believe this planter is from my faux stone line and the orchids are too! This arrangement came out so pretty, I am going to add it to my own home very soon:)

I swear my backseat needs its own reality show…you never know what you will find there!

Console looking good because let’s face it blue and white makes everything look pretty:)

LOVE the Provence planters filled with fresh palms, the picture of elegance!

THE BEST PART! So are you  ready to see the beautiful professional pictures, and let’s face it, nothing can hold a candle next to those. Rest your eyes on these gorgeous pictures…….

And here is my ad-

Sofa, rug, coffee table and blue painted console are all from Decor Market

All porcelain accessories, mirror and bamboo lantern are from my shop, Enchanted Home Shop

All pillows (except green velvet) is from Studio Tullia

Provence planters are from my shop, Enchanted Home Shop but today is the final day of the presale which includes these Provence planters at special pricing CLICK HERE to see

PSSST…….Don’t forget to check out the awesome flash sale going on for outdoor rugs, so many beautiful rugs all at amazing prices. Click here to view

Thanks for stopping in, hope you enjoyed this post as I sure enjoyed putting this beautiful space together. Wishing you a wonderful day, until next time……

A very special birthday luncheon…

Good Tuesday morning to you,  I first want to announce the name of the winner of the beautiful silver pitcher. Congratulations goes to-

Please contact me at to claim your prize.

So a few weeks ago I hosted a very special birthday luncheon for a dear and special friend. I wanted to create a pretty summery vibe, to take advantage of the last few summer days.  I decided that I  would let the gorgeous rich purple hydrangeas that I found in the flower market be my starting point. Go figure…I never have liked purple but when paired with blue and white, it is without question a winning combination!

So then the ideas started coming together. I really wanted to have my beautiful Bali Hai fabric from Quadrille made into a tablecloth but there was not time so I managed to make it work (as long as you weren’t looking too closely) LOL. This is very “me”. I get an idea in my head and will not budge so seams, cutting the fabric on the spot and all….I made it work:)

I decided to divide this into two posts, one on the meal and prep plus a few recipes I think you will want to have.  But today is all about the fluff…that would be the pretty table:)

I took some pictures with my Nikon and included those at the bottom, so here is how it all went down-

You know all great get togethers start with beautiful flowers right? In this case, these purple beauties caught my eye and were the starting point for a rich vibrant summer table.

img_9733 img_9734 img_9735

And soon enough after fresh cuts and putting them in very hot water (a secret to them lasting longer) I made this pretty centerpiece arrangements and started putting all the other elements together

uadsfa3nnamed unnaafdsfdasmed

And then I made more smaller arrangements and added little clusters to mini mint juelps which were the take home party favor

unnamdfs35ed unnafdas3aamed

Onto to the covered patio where I decided to set up the luncheon table, important to take advantage of the great weather while we have it! When I am planning anything small or big, I always start with some kind of color scheme.

No surprise blue and white was a big part of this. I was “trying out” different tablecloths to use underneath my make shift topper.

The not so glamorous side to setting things up, yes that is a hole in the middle of the tablecloth, glad it was going to be hidden:)

It was tricky trying to using the fabric as a topper but I managed somehow someway..perseverance is my middle name:)

Adding the flowers is starting to make it all  happen:)

Well, well well look who decided to show up and help out, my assistant aka the canine cleaner (he eats everything that drops:)

Have a few 6 foot folding tables on hand which come in handy, I like to use them for serving food

Love using blue and white planters as beverage holders!

uncv3named unnamemnd

Fluffed up the pillows outside and added some fresh flowers

One of my dishes was this super yummy baby arugula and artichoke salad

Tah dah! It’s all set and exactly as I had hoped!

And here are the pictures taken with my good camera, the Nikon, definitely great for close up shots as it really picks up the details-

Since I often get emails when I do these types of posts about sources of things here is a rundown-

Blue and white china- Blue Willow

Chargers and bamboo flatware- Juliska

All porcelains- from my shop

Fabric on table- Bali Hai by Quadrille

Monogrammed napkins and silver mint juleps – my shop

All blue and white pillows- Studio Tullia

So there you have the recap on this fun day… was honestly a labor of love. We were blessed with a gorgeous day and being surrounded by dear friends who are like sisters made me feel like the lucky one.

I will be back on Thursday with part 2 which will feature the food, recipes and entertaining ideas! Thank you as always for stopping in, wishing you a wonderful day and start to your week.

Bluff Diaries- Chapter 5

Hello! So here I am with another round of Bluff Diaries and some good news. The first two rounds of plan submissions got approved so we are well on our way. The plans are being submitted as I speak to the two builders we have narrowed it down to, landscape architect has been hired and things are rolling.

We are totally done with the interior plan so thought it would be fun to share it with you since I know many of you enjoy that kind of thing. We are still putting the finishing touches on the exterior. It’s a great plan in my opinion in that it is open living, love the wide front porches (especially the back) and there is room for everyone. Sure makes me realize that when a house is laid out properly you don’t need a ginormous home. I have a feeling we are going to really love living in this house.

1st floor-

Second floor-

Above garage-

Today I want to divert a bit from the interiors (which is of course the most fun part) to the exterior. As we winnow down the process, we are having to think and submit our color choices to the board. I have a vision of a creamy white house with pale blue/gray shutters. The aluminum roofs are de rigueur down there and they happen to look really good. Occasionally you will see a wood shingle room which I also like.

We wanted to preserve the integrity of the true “low country” style while adding just a touch of Hamptons to it. I love a look of long windows with shutters, so pretty. As I start thinking more seriously about a lot of the  exterior features, I think I pretty much know what I am after. Today is all about my inspiration for the exterior, let’s go….

This house above is a great example of the color scheme I envision for our future home,Home Bunch

This is a beautiful color for shutters, Silver Gray by Benjamin Moore

Picture 2

Another great example, love this! Belclaire House

FullSizeRender(32) FullSizeRender(31)

Really love the detailing on this house above, that railing!!!

This is an example of the metal roofs that are so popular, like this color, Southern Living

Isn’t this one fabulous front porch?

Wood Shingle of wood siding….to be determined, have seen beautiful examples of both-

This color light gray is what I am thinking for the roof-

Madly in love with these carriage garage doors (painted in my colors of course) , if they can work with the budget, I would do these in a heartbeat!

Screen Shot 2016-06-05 at 8.33.20 AM

Another great example above

Another beautiful color

And you know gas lanterns are an absolute must! Bevolo

Another beauty, Carolina Lanterns

Who knew there are so many different shutter styles! Think I lean towards the raised panel or flat panel, a cleaner look

LOVE this, this color is Dior Gray from B.Moore, this home is from Jack Arnold, did my research:)

This beauty top and bottom is from the showhouse a few years back (when I first discovered Palmetto Bluff) these colors pretty much sum up what I am thinking…..

Love the idea of either light herringbone brick or peacock pavers for the back porch-

Kind of moving onto the “fluff” but surely the most fun part……I see two gorgeous  benches like these with some pretty pillows for the front porch, first impressions are everything! And down south a front porch is the first chance to make a great first impression.

White Pagoda Bench

These planters are from Authentic Provence Planters…so beautiful!

Something along this line-

Want to see how I can envision the front porch? Take a look….

OB-pbluff front

So that sums up in a nutshell what I am envisioning for the exterior details..of course there is much more to come but this is an overview. As we tweak the outside elevations, we are moving forward and my fingers are crossed that we will sign with a builder very soon and get this show on the road!!

If you missed the other “chapter”s on the top right of my blog where there is  a search bar you can type in “Bluff Diaries” and it will take you to the last four posts.

Thank you as always for stopping by, wishing you a wonderful day. Here it’s beautiful after a very stormy day yesterday which included a serious traffic snarl driving from the city, but it’s coooold today! Go figure:) Until next time…..

Seven on Sunday

Hello and a very happy Mothers Day to everyone! First off I want to announce the winner of the chinoiserie planter giveaway! Congratulations goes to-

Please contact me at to provide your planter choice and shipping details

Today is a day that all of us mothers get to put our feet up (hopefully) and get treated like the priceless gems that we all are. NO job is as grueling nor as rewarding as that of being a mother, and it’s a 24/7 hour gig as we all know:) So it’s nice to have a day that is all about us…enjoy it, I know I plan to!

We hope,  after a week of non stop rain, gray skies and cool temps but they are predicting a sunny afternoon:)  We, however woke up to more rain AGAIN this morning so I am not so sure.  I am hoping to go and putter in my little garden later  and then hang out with my family. My son came home from college a few nights ago ….it’s so good to have him home, best gift ever!

We are supposed be heading into the city later but if the sun does come out we may stay home and BBQ, no matter what, it will be so nice for it to be all five of us together again:)

It was so cute, the night my son came home at 2am after a delayed flight, he came in exhausted but sooo happy and almost giddy to be home. I almost thought he missed Teddy as much as he did me, and the two of them slept on the sofa in the family room, it was so cute to see that sweet reunion of best buds.

So today is my Seven on Sunday where I share with you seven things that got my attention and here we go….

1 MY SHOWHOUSE MURAL. This came out sooo beautiful, thank you Paul MontgomeryA powder room became available last minute at the showhouse that I am going to next week (click here for info) as a designer had to step down. So I stepped up to the plate.

This was a challenge, doing everything from afar, and a little nail biting since I tend to be very OCD about everything. Thanks to Paul Montgomery, this little powder room has instantly gone from plain Jane to belle of the ball. Just look at this mural!

I will be sure you to show you the finished space when its all said and done….stay tuned! And if you are in the Nashville area, by all means come on down!! Click here for info on the showhouse and here for Paul Montgomery Studios.

The blue under the chair rail has since been painted another more muted blue (that one was based on the original mural which was brighter)

Light fixture just got hung-

2. MY LITTLE GARDEN. I was determined this year to have a working albeit small garden. Last year was rather pathetic and I vowed to step it up this year so I took pride and care to create a garden that hopefully, fingers crossed will thrive! With all the rain we have had this past week suffice to say, it’s gotten plenty of nourishment:)

A number of you have asked about where I got the raised beds..good ‘ol Home Depot. If I were to do this again I would have painted them a beautiful glossy moss green, that would be stunning- maybe next year!

3. INSTAGRAMS OF INTEREST This week is heavy on the flowers and so many are just so breathtaking….but this first tiny cutie really stole my heart in honor of Cinco de Mayo! Lots of beauty this week….

4. FAVORITE PILLOWS. I have relied on Studio Tullia for beautiful blue and white pillows ever since we moved here. I got another recent batch including a fabulous monogrammed pillow new to the Enchanted Home collection and went outside to “play” on a rare afternoon of no rain (it only lasted an hour)!

I added my garden bench and gorgeous thriving mega Mrytle topiary in my newest small fishbowl…and loved the effect of all that blue and white against the green.  Click here to see them all.…they are simply exquisite!

5. FOR ALL MOTHERS OUT THERE. I found myself nodding to almost each and every one of these….and how many of you have heard and found yourself repeating these very things? This was way too sweet, funny and on the mark to not share with all the mothers out there…..

6. MONOGRAMMED NAPKINS THAT I AM SMITTEN OVER.  As my new site is being worked on behinds the scenes, there are going to be a number of changes/improvements. A lot of expansion and overall a much much better site, way more user friendly and a whole new look.I think you will love it!

One area that will be expanded upon is the monogrammed linens. I am so excited for what lies ahead and this sneak peek might just get you excited too….is there anything more stylish than a crisp white cocktail napkin with an oversized monogram? I don’t think so!

And my newest set of monogrammed napkins in the pagoda font…it’s a  love affair:)

7. A MOVIE I CANNOT WAIT TO SEE. This is going to be so entertaining…can’t wait til it comes out next week.  They say it takes a village and this documentary proves it does indeed, to create the spectacle and epic Met Gala event that is “the” event of the year. From beautifully dressed to downright wacky, yes fashion really is a form of art, isn’t it. Nonetheless, this is going to be good!

PS Is that Anna aka “Ice queen” almost cracking a smile?

Any thing here get your attention? Would love to hear what is on your agenda on this most important day:)

I just want to end this by saying hello and a very Happy Mother’s Day to my #1 fan…… my own mom, who I love to the moon and back. I am so sorry we are not together this year but we most definitely will be next! Hope your day is wonderful, relaxing and deserving of the person you are and have always been to me….I am a lucky girl who continues to aspire to be just like you, I love you Mom!

And to all my wonderful readers and friends out there, wishing you the same. Enjoy, until next time…..

My epic Enchanted Home Love Contest submissions are in full swing- I filled up so fast I opened it up a bit and have room for about another 8-10 pictures. One super lucky winner will win a YEAR’S WORTH of Enchanted Home products!  Click here for the details

2. PARTY PREP WITH TANTAWAN! I featured the work of Tantawan Bloom? about a month ago and must say his floral genius is off the charts. I have always thought the most exciting part of any party is the setting up on the day of. I am like a kid in a candy shop…by far that is my most favorite aspect of party planning, watching a dream and vision come to life.

These little videos of him working his magic the day of are pretty spectacular and I could watch them over and over they sure have me dreaming! Some seriously incredible inspiration here, click here to find out more about this floral genius.

And this one really exemplifies just how work goes into each of these incredible “productions”…….A? LOT!

4. FISH TACOS ANYONE? I LOVE fish tacos…I equate them with summer, Montauk and Bostwick’s (in Amagansett) however I can bring a little slice of summer right into my own home as I have learned to make a mighty good fish taco, which I am going to share with you-

You need

  • I use about 1.5-2 lbs of fish (I get dover sole)
  • 1 bottle of McCormicks lemon dill sauce
  • Salt/pepper
  • About 2 cups of shredded cabbage (can add about 1/4 cup of corn? if you want)
  • Lots of fresh lime
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/4 cup mayo (calls for 1/2 cup but 1/4 cup works fine)
  • 1 tsp finely chopped jalapeno pepper
  • 1 tsp finely chopped onion
  • 2-3 garlic cloves
  • Cumin and chili powder to taste
  • 1 generous bunch of cilantro ( I use a lot)

For the fish, I wash the filets, salt and pepper them, pour the lemon dill sauce (about half the bottle)? generously over the fish and bake for about 25 minutes until done and flaky at around 350 OR you can sautee in a pan but baking is easier and no oil.? Meanwhile in a food processor add the cilantro, garlic, onion, yogurt, mayo and spices and puree until smooth (will see green flecks). Add a generous squeeze of lime juice. Add this to the shredded cabbage in a big mixing bowl (you can refrigerate for an hour or so ahead of time)

In a sautee pan pour a light coating of olive oil and fry the tortillas until they start to bubble (less than a minute) on both sides. Take off, put in plate and add a generous portion of fish and top with a heap of the cabbage. Squeeze lime over entire taco and get ready to enjoy a little bit of heaven:)

7. GORGEOUS NEW FLOWER DELIVERY! Finally got in my faux flower delivery that I was waiting on for a while. Simply the most spectacular cherry blossoms I have found to date. LOVE the spray I created in my blue and white jar for my foyer.

Then I had fun setting this pretty table. I got in the new colors of the beautiful lifelike hydrangeas and though I am generally not a “purple person” absolutely love purple next to blue and white. It is so eye catching, so added my colorful plates and had fun with a bright and crisp tablecloth (from my tablecloth treasure trove:)

Love the way it came out, almost inspired me to host a luncheon but with the busy month I have ahead of me..not sure it will come to fruition. Added them to a kitchen vignette too, take a look……

There will be a floral promo this week on all flowers shown so stay tuned!

Project lower level part 1

Hi there, hope your week is off to a great start… crazy that we are already in the first week of August!

As some of you know we have been working (off and on for a while) on the “lower level” aka basement. It is a very large space with many rooms, it literally feels like a separate house:)? You might have first read about this project on this post (click here). Truth is, my husband and I were at odds about this project.? While it is really an incredible space, with ten foot ceilings and an abundance of windows/doors, it really does not at all feel like a “basement”. However, I was the more practical one and just didn’t feel finishing it was so necessary as the kids have flocked the nest:) However my husband had different ideas.

So….slowly we did start the lower level beginning with one room, the movie room. To my husbands credit, we use this room all the time (especially him as he is a movie fanatic). It came out beautiful with the rich navy walls, huge 15 foot wide super comfy sectional and of course the enormous screen doesn’t hurt:) Then we moved onto the “big room” and started by putting in this fabulous light colored tile that looks like wood-

Then one thing led to the next, and we decided to finish the gym, which as of last week just got the mirrors put in and it’s at last looking like a real gym, now we just need to use it. OK full disclosure I did do 20 minutes on the treadmill a few days ago while watching Bravo and must admit it felt good to be exercising again:)

Finally we decided to tackle the “big room” which had just the flooring, we originally planned out the space that we always envisioned as a large room to host a party in, we wanted it to have a “Napa vibe” with soft colored woods, linen type furniture and envisioned a big bar and ample seating, with a TV or two. As formal as upstairs is we wanted this to feel more elegantly casual. My husband even had the vision to build a fireplace down there (and we kept the mantle from original house and used it down there). Smart man.

Slowly we worked on that room too, had the bar built, beams put in, had it painted and then at last? having just put furniture in a few weeks ago, it made me realize what a truly amazing idea it was, and all thanks to my husband:)

I seriously could be so happy living down there and calling it Tina’s apartment. It is such a great space, certainly does not feel like a basement with the french doors and many windows, it is flooded with daylight during the day and really is just an incredible space. No wonder he’s talking about wanting to host a party…it’s an amazing space for a party (or Tina’s pied a terre).

Now keep in mind, this is still a work in progress, we have art to still put on the walls and I used some of my beautiful patio pillows just to have something on the sofas for now (and they don’t look half bad)! Still styling the bar, and tweaking accessories here and there etc…but this gives you the idea…..

Took the best pictures I could with my camera (still not great at getting the lighting right) but learning!

So what started as this-

Turned into this-

Come on in and take a look around…..

So there you have my new apartment, lower level/entertaining space. I must admit I absolutely love it, it is so light and airy, inviting and so comfortable.? I have to give my husband credit for having the vision and push to make us? do it….it is really a fabulous space and I cannot wait to put it to good use!

For part 2 I will share the gym and movie room and eventually will get around to the bathrooms (well they do have a toilet so technically they are almost done:) I just ordered the vanities so sooner than later. Thank you for stopping in, wishing you a wonderful day.
