Happy Monday! Never made it to Target…I figured it was going to be a madhouse and I try to stay away from shopping in general over the weekend, so just as well. The only two people I know that saw the Calypso Collection seemed a bit underwhelmed so doesn’t seemed like I missed much. Anyone else check it out? Moving along……who has a thing for blue and white china? Surely I know there are lots of you out there that like me, love the look of blue and white and what it does to a room. Just add a blue and white jar here, a plate or garden seat or vase there to a room  and voila instant glamour, pizazz and sophistication are added! No doubt about it……they work just about anywhere, in any room of any color of any style.
They are considered by most designers to be staples, items that never ever seem to go out of style. Classic, timeless, stylish. That’s how I sum up the use of blue and white pottery, and china. They come in the form of vases, jars, with tops, open faced, with lids and without, garden seats, big bowls, huge planters, plates I could go on, they can be found very inexpensively so you get a lot of look for the money. Today I salute the almighty blue and white jar, plate, bowl and such…..what do you think? Used alone as a single standout piece or grouped together as a collection…blue and white makes an impact on a room, there is no denying. So, I have put together what I think is a fairly impressive little collection of beautiful spaces that make a pretty beautiful argument for blue and white! Would love to know! Do you have a secret or tip on how you like to use blue and white? Do tell!

Wow, Tina!

You weren’t kidding about 52, huh? Wow! They’re gorgeous and I’m so with you. They’re so beautiful and you can use it in so many different ways. I love your pictures.

Thank you so much for your super sweet comment about my post at “House of Turquoise”. You’re a good friend a I appreciate having your support, Tina.

Have a blessed week!

I agree with you, b&w is never going out of style. That is an impressive collection of images! I love to see b&w paired with nontraditional colors like orange. My favorite image of your post is the pairing with the aqua/teal blue (the huge jars atop the armoire). Very fun. I think I’ll pull out my collection of platters that I have stored at the moment! M.

I have to be honest here in the fact I don’t really care for blue personally. I own a single blue item in my home, a carpet in my dining room but it’s mainly dark blues. The jars and plates look nice they just aren’t my thing. I do love the lamps in the first image, now those I can get my head around. Enjoy your Monday!

I am a HUGE HUGE fan of blue and white. My grandmother (who is German) has a tremendous collection of antique trasnferware that is blue and white and has given me a few pieces for every birthday and I have a little all over my house. It is so beautiful, we participated in a house tour last year and my dining room was voted as the tour favorite, I am sure due in part to the blue and white!
This post is outstanding, you really did your homework here! Beautfifully done.

Ummm, I think I could stare at this blog post ALL day!!! Makes me want to go shop for some more!!! My wallet hates you right now, but I soo love you! Thanks for the inspiration!

Blue and white is a classic for sure. You have the best collection of images if someone is looking for a way to get started displaying blue and white. I think Carolyn Roehme is the winner in the blue/white race.

The William Eubanks and Cadeau Registry are my favorites! So many beautiful rooms here, Tina. I Love blue and white jars, vases and china.
I hope that your week is off to a great start.

Though I don’t have a lot of blue and white in my home, I have 1 pair of blue and white ginger jars that I just love. I need to create an arrangement like the last one you show to make the most of them!!!

Happy Monday!
xoxo Elizabeth

Always a classic and ‘can’t go wrong’ color combo!
My two favorites are the Ralph Lauren and the David Netto.

This post is amazing! I’m a very, very big fan of blue and white. I think this colours are so chic and timeless. Isn’t true? Some weeks ago, here in Italy, the luxury brand Sige Gold produced a special edition of doors in white and blue.
This edition is called “The Collector” and it’s
inspired by the pottery of the eighteenth century. Believe me: unforgettable!

Beautiful inspiration images as usual. Blue and white china are classics and they are for here to stay! Oh, now I understand why you “borrowed” the blue striped wallpaper bathroom picture from my blog. 🙂 It just fits amazingly well in this post!

Nice round up of the blue and white jars!

I’ve collected antique blue and white for years, as I grew up with it and always loved it’s classic appeal. Then, years ago I got tired of it and put it all away (luckily I didn’t sell it, as I was often wont to do when I grew tired of something;) and now have begun to bring it back out in the farmhouse, and fall in love with it all over again!! I’ve been playing with the idea of turning a really large vase I have into a lamp for the barn room.
My favorite photo is the one by Shannon Bowers- perfection!
wishing you a wonderful week!

Thank you so much for stopping by and leaving a comment on my blog. My goodness, this is a gorgeous site you have here! Loads of eye candy. I love the whole blue and white thing too. It really makes a beautiful statement. It has an ornate quality, without being too showy. You have so many fabulous examples here.
*kisses* HH

You made me fall in love with blue and white again. My personal favorite was the Ralph Lauren Bedroom. Gorgeous. And the House Beautiful diming room with the fireplace and the comfy beautiful chair at the head of the table.

i like dressed down, a la the cadeau registry table, but that Vernada living room by Ford and Fitzgibbons really takes it to the next level, doesn’t it? I love that cobalt carpet.

I can never get enough of Blue & White. What a fabulous collection of pictures, some familiar and some I have never seen before. You are a great detective as well as a great stylist. Love it all.

You have an amazing archive of photos for every subject! I do like the blue & white combo when it is in a fresh setting paired w/ clean crisp colors, but tend to dislike it if in an overly traditional/stuffy/dated room.

Good to know about Calypso. I’m so over racing out to Target for the launch of an exciting line only to find 25% of it on display and/or it be disappointing.

I cannot get enough of blue and white jars! Maybe it’s because my mother and grandmother couldn’t either and that’s all I was exposed to growing up! Just stumbled upon your blog, happy to be following now!

I’ve never had a love of Blue & White china. That being said, the Carolyn Roehm photos are fantastic! Her double height living room is the best one I’ve ever seen. I’d love to know who the architect was! Also the outside table spread in blue & white shows she really knows her stuff!

Good morning from Tokyo!

I couldn’t agree more with your sentiments. There is something so soothing and timeless about blue and white china. I’ve only started collecting ginger jars, and hope to have a nice grouping before we leave Japan, but they make me so happy. There’s something very elegant in their pairings, even when mismatched.

So nice to look at such beautiful images. As if I needed to reinforce my love for all things blue and white.

A lovley day to you and yours…

Warmly,

Elizabeth

You always find the most beautiful images !! All the photos are so beautiful and inspiring. Although the blue and white china is not my personal favorite, I do think it is very pretty. My mother has some from her grandmother and I have always liked it. I did “run” out to my local target and pick up a few Calypso items. I got the silver pouf…which I think looks pretty good for $60, an embroidered pillow with metallic back and a scarf. While it is definitely not all the best quality, I do think the items are cute !

The Ann Miller and Ralph Lauren looks are two I *really* liked, but almost all of them show the colors off perfectly, you found gorgeous looks!

And from everything I have heard, you really didn’t miss anything by not seeing the Calypso line yet, I have yet to see or hear any comments raving about it, most have been disappointed.

Sending you a smile!

Tina,

I am a huge fan of blue & white HUGE…lol! It really pumps up the pop of color in a room, foyer, mantle, bookcases, night table etc. What exciting photo’s you’ve shared here and some I will add to my computer archives of great looks. Having a husband from Holland and family in Spain, Portugal, and Holland blue and white tiles are high on the excitement love list.

I love the ginger jars and have one in my office. I have used them in a designing spaces for others too. They are timeless and look great in various styles of design.

Such great images of blue and white ginger jars! I think blue and white are classic and timeless colors. Today I did a post of my friends house that was decorated with the ginger jars and lots of blue and white accessories. Stop by and check it out if you get a chance.

Oh! All of these photos made my heart go pitter patter! I have quite a bit of blue and white spread all throughout my house. Some are clustered together as a true “collection” and others are tucked in here and there but all of them are loved! 🙂
Thank you for the gorgeous, gorgeous inspiration!
Vanessa

I love all things blue and white so these images grabbed me. Carolyne Roehm’s “A Passion for Blue and White” is a favorite. Thanks for all the gorgeous inspiration this morning!

Thank you for such an inspirational post and for showing us how versatile blue and white can be in so many rooms! I have some blue and white plates I put away because I thought they didn’t suit the decor, but they will go up in my dining room now!

I have been collecting blue and white for almost 30 years now…..I ADORE it! I actually have some of these photos in my favorites as inspiration pictures for my collection. I am thinking that for summer I may totally rearrange my rooms and put the blue and whites in different spots. This is one of my favorite posts!!!!! Thanks so much! XO, Pinky

Blue and white is as classic as white kitchen cabinets. It will never go out of style and you have proved that with all of your pictures….old and new! As usual Tina…wow.

This might just be my favorite post of all time from anyone! I love blue and white and you have made me a lifelong subscriber to how beautiful it really is. Fabulous post Tina!

Where do I find all of these Blue and White jars from? Does someone have a website that I could go to? Please advise.

when you select your white wall colors for your home, do you typically select one or two and carry them through the whole house? or do you select a different white for nearly every room? i’d like to do my new house in whites, but im afraid of them either looking too monotone/institutional if i do every room the same, or not unified enough if i do them all different…. help!

Even in these Wholesale hermes handbags online there are also lot of chances to get replica one so before buying any louis vuitton wallets you need to take a look at the bag and not only check out the overall condition but also you should check for the cheap omega watches marks of authenticity of the bags. It can usually be seen on the logo printing, find a christmas gifts stitches, cards, zippers and the texture of the bags. These things can really show if a certain swiss rolex is real or not.
