-LAST DAY TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR GORGEOUS KILIM BENCH GIVEAWAY!! DETAILS AT THE BOTTOM!-

Wow I cannot believe its already another Thursday , the days are going by fast and furious!! Can I just say I found myself ACTUALLY BLUSHING reading all the amazingly sweet and kind comments from yesterdays post. I am so grateful, your thoughts, sentiments and flattery made my day and lets just say it was not a great day so it was truly the sweet, delicious icing on a very flat cake! THANK YOU!!

?I hope all is well and hope you are all participating in the wonderful giveaway I am offering from Safavieh…such a gorgeous bench! All details on the bottom of this post. I start as I always do on house progress. Well, this stage is both exciting and frustrating, they are working every day (except Sunday) but the finishing feels painstakingly slow sometimes. I hate to sound like a chronic complainer but there are days that I go there and though I see progress I instead focus on all that has yet to be done and it overwhelms me. This week is one such week but we forge ahead and hope and pray we really will get to move into at least a part of the house in August. I welcome any and all prayers form you too…lol. You can never have too many of those.

?So here we go….

HOUSE UPDATES. Ok, trimwork is nearly done upstairs in all the bedrooms but the master which will be the last room to be finished as we have more detail in there. I think the trim guys did a great job and I love the sizes of the trim we used, its very substantial but not an overkill. Family room woodworking is humming right along and we are basically done with the breakfast room, just waiting on one more small molding. Kitchen..oh boy sore subject this week. We originally had coffered ceilings done, but over the course of time as my kitchen started to shape up and a clear vision was in sight, I realized no no no, the coffered ceiing is all wrong. So, much to my husbands dismay and wallet, we had it ripped out and the antiqued beams that I was lusting after are in the works. I know we will have no regrets and in the scheme of things its the only mistake so far that we have made that we had to “undo”, I know he will thank me later and I will watch him beam when people compliment US on our kitchen and the stunning antique beams (didn’t even realize I was saying he will be beaming over the beams) Overall this has been a long drawn out somewhat anticlimatic week though the progress is going forward at a good pace……more exciting stages to come!

Family room trucking along…
The ripped out kitchen ceiling now with just sheetrock, but you just wait till those bad boy beams get up there!
Family room
Breakfast room bay windows..love how they finished the ceiling
Breakfast room just about complete

Upstairs trim
Our adorable little shed from original house is coming down tormorrow:( to make way for new driveway
Favorite part of the day….

Part of the hallway done and awaiting paint!

Finished casings and baseboards/crown molding
Sons bath complete!

Close up…love this marble!
Finished very dusty ?beams and the new beams for kitchen
Even the white oak in its natural state is so pretty!
Welcome to our woodmaking shop aka the family room
Paneling coming along

THE NEW BRILLIANT STORE BY RESTORATION HARDWARE, BABY AND CHILD. I definitely can give credit when due and though I was getting a little bored of Gary Friedman’s “industrial chic” play on furniture and home decor, he has struck yet another pot of gold. No doubt RH has some amazing things, are decently priced and you get a lot of look for the money but its been played out so much that I think it got a little mundane. His newest genius idea is the uber sophisticated gorgeous did I say gorgeous store for “the younger set” and boy if I had a a little one, I might have to splurge on a plane ticket and go to Marin county (Corte Madera) just to visit this amazing store!!! Take a look at the knock your socks up space and its offerings!

A COOKING SCHOOL I CAN REALLY ATTEND! I always talk and fantasize about going to cooking schools that happen to be abroad, hum…maybe its not a total mistake that they happen to ?coincidentally be near some of my favorite cities, Paris, Tuscany, Provence! But seeing that its unlikely I will get to them in the near future, happy to have discovered one that is close enough to where I could actually attend. And its run by someone I like whose books I already own….Lidia Bastianich! Yep, she has started a cooking school at the eponymous Italian megamart,?Eataly that is all the rage in Manhattan! The reviews thus far are very favorable, how could they not be? I have been to 2 of her restaurants many times and was thrilled with my food every time…so may I present La Scuola di Eataly! Click?here to get more information.

Would love to get taught by Lydia!
Do I hear a yum!
Her capable hands will make a pro out of you yet…
Come to mama!
Sorry I should have warned you not to look at this on an hungry stomach..yummy!

If you get lucky you might get a visit from Mario himself!
BLUE AND BROWN. Anyone else like this combination? I have always loved it and been drawn to any space, wallpaper or fabric that uses this oh so pretty palette. Throw in some pretty blue and white china or pottery and you have a sensational looking room. The last wallpaper is Zoffany’s
Gustavius, ?which I love and have the sample of is something I hope to use somewhere!! So a few “inspirations” that I thought were especially pretty. I think this could be a beautiful colorway for a boys room too. Thoughts?
MONOGRAMMED GOODIES. You know how I love my monograms, can never have enough. The Elegant setting whose beautiful things have graced a few of my posts was kind enough to send me some pictures of other things they have been doing….and I thought they were all worth sharing! So many beautifully monogrammed goodies! Love the throws, all the assorted bags and of course great monogrammed towels. They have a great selection of monogram styles. Great gift ideas too and in all price ranges. Hard to pick a favorite..they are all so pretty!?Click here to visit their site.

A FABULOUS GETAWAY. Yes, I do have vacations and getaways on my mind. But for now that’s as far as its going…in my mind! We can’t go away with?so much happening with the house, so for now I travel virtually! ?We were at the One and Only Ocean Club in the gorgeous Bahamas years ago and it was every bit the elegant, beautiful and serene place I wanted it to be. We had a marvelous time. I have a sudden yearning to go back. If you have kids in tow, The nearby Atlantis is the place to go, but if you are fortunate enough to get away as adults for a few days, then this place is heaven. Though there are kids, its a quieter hotel than the circus like but fun, atmosphere of Atlantis and kids might find it boring. Don’t take my word for it, think the pictures say it all!

GORGEOUS FRENCH CHAIRS. Whats the next best thing to a gorgeous French chair? Getting it for a GREAT deal and I do mean GREAT! I ordered a pair of the first chair for my master sitting room, from Safavieh Home and am in love with everything about this chair. Can you believe its $995!! Then I started looking at and drooling over a bunch of their other French chairs…and am am lusting after each one!!?Click here to see more of their amazing deals on not only chairs but so many other incredible things.
Love everything about this chair from the finish to the color!
Love this tufted chair for a dressing room or next to a tub in a bathroom!
Would love a pair for a family room/living room
LOVE this tub chair, would love for a library! (would love to see it in a velvet)
Love this one too! Would be so pretty in front of a window or in a master bedroom
How gorgeous is this with the ottoman? Love the wood finish, would love to have a few of these!
How great looking is this bench? I want two for a small side patio..its only $295!!

Another great Thurs. post that I will revisit! Its fantastic and one stop shopping:)

Hello Tina:
As new readers of your blog, your house does seem to us to be progressing at a pace. However, when one looks at something every day over a prolonged period, it does sometimes feel as if nothing is happening at all. In our experience, it is the finishing details which seem to take an eternity, but then these are exactly the things that one should not wish to be hurried as they make such a big impact on the finished work.

The panelling is going to look very elegant. Simple yet with just the right amount of detail, it will, in our view, have a timeless quality which should grow old gracefully.

We have no experience of Zoffany wallpapers but, although we are normally wedded to Farrow and Ball paints, we did use Zoffany paints in our Brighton flat and we find them wonderful. Good depth of colour and some interesting shades.

What a GREAT post!

Seeing your amazing house always inspires me! It’s truly beautiful!

Now, I’m crossing my fingers for this giveaway! I’ll be so happy if I win!

Wishing you a VERY BLESSED DAY! πŸ™‚

Those beams in the kitchen-fabulous. Do you daydream about the day you’re in and cooking up a storm? I’m envisioning cooking a big pasta dinner with lots of friends and family standing around with a glass of wine.

Love your sons bathroom floor,
the woodworking and the beams…
good call for the kitchen! Also
love the selection of chairs and the
Bahamas getaway. Cooking school..
count me in! Dying to go.
Meredith

I had lunch at Eataly yesterday and picked up a card about the cooking school. I’ve seen Lydia walking around Eataly before too!

I love love love all the gorgeous paneling details in your house! And your son’s bathroom floor is just beautiful! I like the idea of blue and that reddish brown for a boy’s room. It’s very masculine like denim and dirt, but in a good way πŸ™‚ My mom was just at the One & Only Ocean Club and I’m totally jealous. It looked fabulous!

Hi Tina, I want to wish you all the best with your house, but it looks like you already have it, lol!! Still, I know you can’t wait to say it’s finally done and you can sit, relax and enjoy.

About RH, I am not a fan of the latest collections, this children’s one included. I can’t pinpoint what it is I don’t like, because each individual piece is pretty, but together, it’s blah. Perhaps too beige, too faded? (With the exception of the last one, with the pink tent, that one is adorable.) For children’s rooms, I think this is one time where we should indulge in bright colours and fun shapes, as seen through their eyes.

Brown and blue colour combo? Yes and yes! A timeless classic.

Prayers headed your way, Tina.
I know that you are so excited about the house. I am too!
So much here to day that I have to get a cup of coffee and chill. So…I will be back. Love blue and brown too. Bedroom wall is baby blue with brown on furniture and coverlet.
Monograms…you know.
Have a great day, and take it easy.

You will be so glad you made the change in the kitchen now. It is going to look fabulous! We made some changes several months after we moved into our house and it was much harder at that point. Always love seeing the house updates. Looks great!

I love Thursdays…what will we do when your house is done?

I’m not sure about those RH photos. I think that children might become a little depressed without some more color. But I really love the gray room with the pink curtains, awesome combination.

I just came across your blog & am your newest follower! I love seeing home renovations unfold, and your house looks like a major project. Looking forward to seeing your journey.

Love the fabulous update on your home. Also, just loving the Restoration Hardware children’s store. Haven’t seen that. Those guys have really got it all together. I’ve got a group of friends that does a cooking class here at my house once a month. A local chef brings all the food and comes here. We just gather round my island and drink wine and have a blast. Mona

so many things ahh!!!
First of all your new house is coming along beautifully. I love children’s bedrooms-some of those pieces are adorable, especially for little boys. I love blue and brown-it’s one of my favorite color combos! and of course I’m a sucker for anything monogrammed!!!! Loved this post!

Tina, where does one begin!! First your home is gorgeous, I love following along with the progress. I am just like you,not a fan at all of Restorations, new/old look, but and I do mean a big BUT!!! Love what I see here going on with the children’s rooms. The one with the silhouettes had me at first glance!! Monograms I am so there!! Blue and brown not so much, Love blue and white and blue and green though. Thank you for giving us so much eye candy, I so appreciate all the effort you take to give us so much to look at and appreciate, xo Kathysue

Phewh…………I’m exhausted going crazy over all the WONDERFUL content in this post! First of all, your home is coming along beautifully! And even if you said “beaming over the beams”, I personally think that is JUST what your husband will be doing! I’m tickled just thinkin about the end result! Who doesn’t love beams? Also, How did I miss Restoration Hardware’s Baby&Child? If it weren’t for you, I would’ve even been that much more out of the loop! I’m a subscriber to their link, but I’ve been too busy to open all of the updates! I LOVE LOVE LOVE their design for the young ones. I am a Restoration Hardware fan and customer!

Hi Tina- Thank you again for sharing so many photos of the amazing work we do in my shop, The Elegant Setting. We love monograms and do all the production on site.
If you find yourself in The Hamptons, stop by and say hi!
Looking forward to saying Hello! and keep posting…your blog is like a great book you can’t put down!

Love the bathroom floor. Love absolutely everything

The house is coming along and looks fabulous! The details, and there are so many of them are the things that seem to take the longest….hang in there. Love the comment, “beaming about the beams” πŸ™‚ xo

Just bought a wonderful Safavieh rug–reasonable price and it pulled the whole room together.

Tina, doing some house planning. How high/wide are your upstairs hallways? thanx

Wow! So many things to comment on here. First I hate to see that little cottage go for your driveway. I wish it could be put in my backyard. Your house is coming right along. All the woodwork is going to be gorgeous. Love the chairs you’ve ordered. Baby and Child looks fantastic…I’ll check that out. I’ll go to facebook to enter the contest.

Just think, when the house is finally done you will appreciate it all the more because of the long wait! Also, like the RH kids store, however, I like to see a bit more color for kids’ rooms, but there are some fabulous pieces! I like blue and brown, some, specifically turquoise and brown! Love the monograms (as you could have guessed)–especially want one (or 2 or 3) of those beach towels! And I ADORE those chairs!!

Love seeing your house updates! The wood trim and details are truly amazing! Love those kids rooms from RH. Those really inspire some fun ideas! Always a fan of blue and brown…especially navy! Loving all of your beautiful french chairs! What a fantastic giveaway and such a fabulous bench! Off to check out more of their great furniture!

Great update on the house. I can feel for you on the decision to rip out the coffered ceilings…I had a moment where I wanted to rip out our entire entry hall floor because we had a misinterpretation of the design, and we ran out of the Paris Ceramics bulgarian white limestone for the edge of the design, and I thought that the tile guys had started using another stone…luckily, the stone was wet from being cut, and it was actually the right thing!

This post is very timely…I had seen the RH baby and child catalog a few months ago, and was toying with the idea of getting tall chests for my girls closets instead of having built in drawers. RH child has some great options, but I usually like to see something first before ordering. Well, as luck would have it – I am going to Northern California in a few weeks and will be visiting my brother in law at the end of the trip…and he lives 10 miles from Corte Madera! I am going to make a point of visiting the new store. Thank you for the heads up!

Love all the things you’re loving this Thursday! Your home is beautiful. Patience will pay off in the end. Only one change (the kitchen beams) in a home this size is quite amazing. Now about that cute shed. Hope you read this before it’s torn down. Do you not have room anywhere on your property for it? I’d hate to see it torn down. Can you not use it for a garden shed to house lawn & gardening equipment? Is it large enough for a potting shed? What about a playhouse for the grandkids you’ll have one day, a small studio away from the main house, etc.? Whatever you decide to do, however, I’m sure your home & grounds will be magnificent!

Hi Tina~ I love the finished beams in the family room. I also loved your little out building that you are taking down. πŸ™ I would love to have had that for a potting shed.
Best~
Karen
