A happy Wednesday to you!.. In continuing my posts on rooms that I am loving, today its all about that highly mysterious, rarely used but oh so deserving room, the elusive living room! Yes that one room that we typically spend most of our budget, all of our brainpower and talents and at least as much energy and time on decorating only to use once or twice a year! I am no exception, believe me,  but hopefully this time around will make a point to use it a bit more than I did in my old house. Admittedly, it was a room I pretty much never went into except to sit down and marvel at how beautiful things looked, and wonder why we never used it! In any case, whether its enjoyed to its fullest or not, the living room is nonetheless a beautiful room and one that generally showcases our personal design and taste. There is no one winning combination, and I have a true appreciation for living rooms of many styles, colors and feels. So today is all about some seriously beautiful living rooms…any secrets to creating a gorgeous living room that you want to share? Do tell!  For fun I “named” each of these rooms…so “who” is your favorite?

Love this post and love how you named the rooms! I love Meredtih and Beth though they are all so beautiful and each one has something that I love. I love soft lighting for a living room, hate overhead lighting, and tend to like softer colors with a subtle punch of color in pillows or maybe in the art work. I love this collection of rooms!

Good morning Tina! That second room with the BLUE velvet chairs..that’s mine!!! And secondly, I think that your post on Pet Peeves was nicely written and that there was no tone of being Holier than thou…..readers must be courteous indeed and not email such things! I LOVED YOUR POST. AND….anonymous, indeed! If someone wants to challenge you, let them show their face. WOW!

Your view from the living room dearest is stunning. ALL of these rooms I would take in a heartbeat, but I am so loving my own these days. But give me those neutrals and a chance to pop in some gray or some teal, aqua or turquoise and I am literally smiling from ear to ear!

ENJOY YOUR DAY Anita

I LOVE how you named your rooms – so clever!
Sophia has the classic elegance I adore, Claire has the most amazing symmetry, and Carolyn has gorgeous windows and fabulous furniture. But my favorite has to be Suzanne. The entire home was absolutely stunning, and I fell head over heels in love when I first saw it (Thank you Jennifer at Beclaire House!).
Such beautiful images, Tina. May the living room never go out of style!

LOVE these rooms, way too many stunners to name a single favorite, but my top 3 are Alexandra, Kate and Amelia. All of them made my heart do a little happy dance!

Tina, What an outpouring of living room beauty! One thing that really struck me about the rooms was not the furnishings or decor detail, but the gorgeous bones of each room. Coffer ceiling, paneled walls, fireplaces, beautiful window, decorative transoms, broad stairs, sky high ceilings, grand scale, substantial crown molding, french doors … To me these bones make the rooms opulent and breathtaking! I adore classic furnishings with some restraint now, but these rooms already have such a “built in” advantage!
Beautiful selection, as usual from you. You have such lovely taste! There is much in this post to inspire! And the names for each room fit wonderfully. Very clever!
Have a blessed day.

Love that you named the rooms!! I’m not sure why, but I was drawn to rooms that began with “C”: Carrie, Claire, Chloe and Carolyn…..all kind of “light”.

I love my living room….but everyone is drawn like a magnet to our “brown room”….much more masculine and dare I say, “sexy”!

Fun, fun post, Tina!

Hey Tina. Loads of lovlies above…Amelia, Grace and olivia! Brooke and perhaps even Emily gets a vote.. Trouble with me is this.. I love to many as usual..Oddly enough we have started using our living room of late. When the kids take control of the family room with the tv I migrate to the living room where no tv is allowed to read!

I am leaning towards Claire, Carolyn and Carmella, but Brooke is calling as well! Love naming the rooms…maybe I’ll do that with my home. Who wants a living room when it could be…Elise? Bathroom of course would have to be Jean, bedroom…Etienne for my husband. As a New Orleanian born and bred, I’ll always go for the French names!

Hugs~

Well, I was originally drawn to Claire until I scrolled down to Carolyn. How could I not vote for the room that shares my name? 🙂 Also, love Suzanne, Phoebe and Olivia. I’m working on a living room makeover, so this post gave me some great ideas. One of the challenges of my room is that it has no fireplace, which I always find to be such a great focal point. Also, trying to determine how to arrange my smaller scale furniture in a larger room. Love the inspiration in this post! Have a great day, Tina 🙂

Meredith really stood out to me – great idea to name them. 🙂 I was laughing about not using the living room because that’s what my husband keeps saying as I design our dream home…I really insist because I want a nice room for us when our teenagers are spread out with pizza boxes, etc. in the family room…but am I dreaming??? I still need to ponder that one! Great post, Tina.

Claire and Isabella, my favs. They’re all beautiful, almost like them all. Thanks for sharing, they do inspiring doing a little reareanging. Hugs, FABBY

Oh such beautiful living rooms. Again hard to choose a favorite when they are all my favorites. I love that you gave them names, fun. Would it be terrible if I say I love the one with my name? I think I like is because of the deep rich color on the wall and the pattern of the fabric in the drapes. I have the color in my family room and the drapes in my dining room. I love the soft colors for Meredith, like I said they are all my favorites. Charming post, adding the names.

Aww I love that you named the room from my blog Jennifer! What a lovely surprise to start the morning! Where do I even begin? These rooms are so fab. I love the tufted goodness in Carrie and Beth. Claire, Olivia and Andrea look like rooms I would actually live in. My living room is so bare right now, but that’s ok because I have a little man on the move. I want it to be a room I fill with quality pieces that I love and accumulate over time. It is more for my aesthetic benefit than lounging around like a family room. It will be like my art 🙂 Great post!!

Hi there. Happy Wednesday to you too! I think I love Carrie the best. Those orange patterned pillows are fabulous. There is something about this room that I really really love. Have a great day!!

What a lovely way to distinguish the rooms, very creative Tina! My three favorites are probably Meredith, Amelia and Kate, all are bright and airy, with lots of natural light flowing through them. (I’m so boring, I know.)

A really pretty post today, I enjoyed it!

What great rooms all of them are. But the two I am most drawn to are Grace and Isabella. I’d like to have both and use Grace in the winter and Isabella in the summer!

Hello Tina:
As usual you present us with some very elegant rooms and so very difficult to choose between them as they all vary considerably in style and furnishings.

For us, lovers of the shabby chic and the English country house look, complete with a little dust, they all seem to lack a lived in look which for us is an essential for the drawing room [as the English refer to such rooms]if it is to be used and not just be a ‘showroom’.

Recently, we saw the apartment of Pierre Durand featured in the New York Social Diary. Now, his is a drawing room [and, indeed, every other room in his apartment] that we should love to have and spend time in.

While I love textures and color, I am always drawn to the white with accents of color. I love all the living rooms. My absolute favorites are ‘Meredith'(the blue velvet touch), ‘Claire'(a touch of simple glamour),and Monique (those windows)! Also, the scale of furniture is important, most of the rooms furnishings are scaled for ‘real living use’ while some may be a bit too proper or dainty. Naturally, again, I’m drawn to luxury that is really useful. xo

Tina, they are all so lovely, but Carolyn and Meredith took me in from first glance!!Second look they still took me in!! So much loveliness in one place. Have a great Wednesday,
Kathysue

This is a wonderful blog. I am always pleased with all the beauty which your blog always show. These living rooms are exceptional but my favorites are Claire, Beth, Carolyn, and Isabelle. But the true winner for me would be Beth, this living room is beautiful and looks comfortable. The colors are stunning and add such warmth to the room. That tufted ottoman is out of this world.

I just stumbled on to your blog. I found something to love in every living room. Beautiful!!

I also don’t use my LR but a couple times a year. This use to bother me till I realize I go in there several times a day – sometimes just a couple of miuntes, sometimes a hour or more – for “me” time. I am the only female in the house, so this room really shows only what I LOVE. I did not have to consider if this might get broke, or will the boys spill soda on the white chairs, etc. So now I don’t fill it is “wasted space”.

Toni

I’m not a fan of dark wooded furniture but I like black accents. But today I picked the second photo of blue and white to live in. I wouldn’t make a change except add a chandelier.

Tina,

How can I select just one that’s like picking a favorite gown when the closet is full of options…lol I just love all of them my favorite is ALL!

Being in your shoes right now and pulling out the mental notes for your unique living room must be a dream come true. Life is like a box of chocolates except…you can’t eat just one!

Great post of course!

Bette

“Carrie” is my favorite, and not just because that’s also my name 🙂 but
I really love when blue and orange is used together. I actually try to use my living room as often as possible. It is my favorite room in the house to curl up on the couch with a good book, or with my Sunday morning cup of coffee and a stack of magazines. I like that it is a quiet room, no tv or other distractions.

Isabella is a classic and beautiful space. It celebrates life, has character, and a complete ease about it… 20 yrs from now “Isabella” will still look amazing.

I’m definitely a Chloe – Claire gal. Such beautiful rooms. The Claire is really my style, and the Chloe is a little more Kristy – really trying to add a little more of the glamour of the Chloe into my own home…gorgeous!!

These all photographs are wonderful, A beautiful cheery yellow chinoiserie gives this living room a lively lift. It looks very beautiful and awesome collections.
