Good morning….I don’t want anyone feeling too badly for me about my rant on Tuesday, though I did enjoy the attention and the kind words:) I know life could be worse than sitting alone with Teddy alone on Halloween night looking out at the dark empty street with nary a trick or treater in sight (unless you count the Chinese speaking rapper upstairs who moonlights as  my teen aged son..lol). It wasn’t a great day (coupled with many other things that went wrong that day) but you better believe next Halloween I am going to celebrate like no jack o lantern or goblin has ever seen!

Pulling out all the stops, maybe an intimate dinner with close friends or even a party, my imagination is the only thing in my way, there will be no stopping me! But seriously thank you for all your kind words….meant so much, you have no idea! But now that Halloween is a done deal, I cannot believe Christmas is going into full swing!! Yesterday in my town they were already putting up Christmas wreaths and decor…huh? Where DID the time go?

Its been a crazy week (yea I know what else is new) so much happening over at the house, but we are chugging right along. I suffer from migraines and am taking Relpax but it makes me dizzy and very tired. Migraines last few months have been frequent and pretty bad, I am sure very much stress related.  You cannot possibly understand unless you are going through it how the “devil really is in the details” and to say its painstakingly slow is an understatement. We are really hoping and praying to move in this month, but in a few weeks I will know better, as loose ends start tying up.

A few questions to answer-

For my guest post on Pretty Pink Tulips yesterday (please visit if you didn’ t get to see it), got some inquiries about the boots and the bag featured. The boots are from Frye  and the bag is from Bottega Veneta.

Then many of you loved my new coat that I ordered and wanted to know who made it and where they could find it..thanks I am flattered (just hope I don’t look like a snowman in it) It is from Soia and Kyo, think its Canadian and you can now buy it on Bluefly and lucky you its on sale for less than I paid!!

And this comment from an “anonymous” poster  and I quote

“Love the Tori Burch bags and the cookie cups!! Just wondering why you never post any pics of you home now or yourself…..only pics of things you like from other places. Your “dream home” is beautiful….but is it yours really?? I just starting to get a weird feeling about this blog. Have a great Saturday!!”

Yes, it really is my house and if you follow my blog you will see I post updates every single Thursday!! Thanks for the compliment. I think. (this had to make me laugh)
Who makes this flatware? First one believe it or not is from Pottery Barn and the second one is from Horchow
Where is this caned bench from? Love it too, its from Chelsea Textiles
That about wraps up the questions, if I left something out just let me know!

HOUSE UPDATES. Butlers pantry is officially done except paint but need your advice on knobs, see below! Kitchen is getting painted, range coming in next week (Put it off until paint is done) ceiling treatment got done, will include pics below and paint is pretty much done upstairs. Now they are just staring doorknobs and carpet coming in Nov.10th…woo hoo! The limestone around front entrance is moving along, but we are waiting for the rest of it coming on Nov.7th but I had to include a picture of the gorgeous design that is going above the front door, seeing it suddenly made this maddening long wait a little more worth it. OK, a lot more worth it. Enough chatting, here is the low down……

Please excuse these not so great pictures, they were shot at night and I have yet to figure out how to set my camera for night pictures, its always a crap shoot when I take them…..

First coat of stain in back stair hall
Ahh, this is a little better!
Laundry room just getting put in

Back stairs going down to basement
Was trying to get a ceiling shot of finished ceiling

Need your honest advice here…they sent me the wrong sized knobs for the butlers, they are  the larger sized knobs, not sure if I think they are too big or not, included several not so great pictures…please tell me what you really thing, should I take them off (not a huge deal ) and get the smaller knobs? They are bout 1/4 inch smaller……

Hardware done in butlers

The rest are the family room pretty much done!! Except for mantle due in about 3 weeks…..

Test colors for family room
And I had to show you this, hot off the presses and en route to us in a few days, the completed carved limestone that will grace our front door entrance surround

BELLA CUCINA. I have written about them before but really really like their products. Found them a few years ago and have since remained devoted to a few products in particular. Great to have on hand for unexpected guests and especially wonderful to have around the holidays!  Some of my personal faves are the artichoke lemon pesto which is out of this world  (and don’t you love their pretty packaging) and the walnut sage pesto is really yummy too. Then you have olives, flatbreads, many other pestos, gift sets and you are talking about one fabulous little line!  Click here to visit them.

And found out they have a shop/cafe in Atlanta…has anyone been? I would love to visit!!

A FEW GREAT BOOKS. I have had my Charles Faudree books for some time, the minute one comes out I am signed up to get it. I have to say few books offer the kind of “bang for your buck” that his books do. As we are just starting to think about decorating our home, I am resorting more to magazines and my book collection. Few have me going back over and over, every page of every one of his books is so chock full of detail, he is such a master. I have really enjoyed going through each and every page and sometimes seeing small details I missed the first few times I saw them….cannot recommend his books highly enough!! Seriously they are like the gift that keeps on giving! Charles if you are reading this (Just kidding) please come out with another!!

A SINFULLY GOOD COOKIE RECIPE. OK, we are back to food. I am sorry, I know I did many of you in when I shared the amazing oatmeal cookie recipe, but now it has competition. These are soooooo good, and of course because my hubby loves pistachios, you just know being the devoted wife i am that I just have to make these of course and naturally I will have to sample  a few to be sure they are acceptable for my hubby and kids to eat. The only moral thing to do is share with you the recipe. Proceed at your own risk:)

Ingredients for Pistachio cream cheese cookies

1/2 cup butter, softened
1 3 ounce package cream cheese, softened
1 cup powdered sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1  egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
2  teaspoons finely shredded orange or lemon peel (optional)
1/2 cup finely chopped lightly salted pistachio nuts
In a large bowl, combine butter and cream cheese. Beat with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add powdered sugar, baking powder, and salt. Beat until combined, scraping bowl occasionally. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined. Beat in as much of the flour as you can with the mixer. Using a wooden spoon, stir in any remaining flour. If desired, stir in orange peel.
Divide dough in half. Shape each half into a 7-1/2-inch-long roll (about 1-1/2 inches in diameter). Roll in pistachio nuts. Wrap each roll in plastic wrap or waxed paper. Chill about 1 hour or until dough is firm enough to slice. Or freeze dough for up to 2 months.
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Cut rolls into 1/4-inch slices. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
Bake in the preheated oven for 7 to 9 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Transfer to a wire rack; cool. Makes about 44 cookies.

VAGABOND HOUSE. Love this line and every year around the holidays, I buy a piece or two for myself (early birthday gift) and a few to give as special gifts for Christmas . They are expensive but are like collectible items. If you are seriously interested in a piece, contact me as I am able to get a significant discount. The line is just exquisite. Here’s a look at some of their amazing pieces……click here to visit Vagabond House.

A FUN STYLE QUIZ. While visiting my buddy, Elizabeth’s great blog yesterday, Pine Cone and Acorns (Love the name and its a fantastic blog) I came across this style quiz! It was so much fun, takes just a minute….aren’t you curious as to what your style is? Mine came up two different ways the two times I took it and I have to say it for the most part, pegged me and my style quite accurately. It’s a lot of fun!  Click on link below to launch quiz.

Have you decided on a color for the family room??

(p.s. they’ve discovered that a “side effect” of botox injections is migraine relief! Maybe something to look into!)

Tina these Thurs. posts leave me breathless. The house is getting more beautiful when I thought it wasn’t possible! The limestone, kitchen, woodwork and butlers are to die for.
Love C.Faudree too, met him at a book signing a few years ago, a real gem of a man.
Those cookies-shame shame, but must try:-)
The pewter line is really incredible. I will have to visit that site. Love Thursdays over at Enchanted Home..my favorite day of the week!

I have no idea how you find the time to create these posts! You include so many different concepts and ideas!
If it really isn’t a problem to change them, I would opt for the smaller knobs in the butler’s pantry. The current knobs are too close together because of their size.
I’ll have to try your friend’s style quiz. It’s always interesting to see if the final answer matches how we define our sense of style.
Have a lovely day, Tina!
~ Wendi ~

I think you should keep the knobs! They are gorgeous and just the right size. House looks great and I can’t wait for the carpeting to go in! Fun, fun, fun!!!! Have a great day! and I will pray for you about your migranes…

WOW TINA!!! The house is coming along beautifully!!! Those boots, and cookies and your post over at PPT, so much to comment on, my head is swimming in a good way! The comment above about this not being your house made me laugh too!:)
As to the knobs my knee jerk reaction was that they looked great a little big, but on second glance, I think in the long run, the right, normal size might be the way to go. Good luck, can not wait to see more of your home!

That boots and coat are rocking! love them.

Those cookies look really yum!

I love how high your ceiling is in the family room.

LIMESTONE,LIMESTONE, LIMESTONE.
.AMAZING!!! can not wait to see it finished. Thanks for the great sites to check out &the yummy cookie. Recipe. Can you please tell the paint color you decided on? Also, the knobs do look a little big. Have a great day!

I always look forward to these posts, love to see house updates (keep the knobs) and then seeing what your highlighted items are. I had to double check the carving board in the pewter tray with wooden handles I got at the antique coop last month with the one you showed~wowsers! So fun to compare it with the $650 version, made my morning!!

Everything is looking fantastic, Tina! IMHO, I would get the smaller knobs. I think the larger knobs look fine on the upper cabinets, but they seem too large and cramped on the lower, smaller drawers. Damn the devil in the details πŸ™‚

Have a great day!

Hi Tina, the limestone is breathtaking! What a grand entrance it will be. Love the knobs in the butler’s pantry, but I agree they could be just a bit smaller.

Sorry to hear about your migraines, I get them too, but I’m lucky enough to have discovered Excedrin Migraine and it works wonders for me. The only drawback is that they don’t sell it in Canada, so whenever I’m in the States, I stock up.

I’m going to have to check out that Vagabond House, they seem to have lovely items!

Hi Tina- love the knobs but do think you should go for the smaller size. You have achieved perfection in every inch of this house, why stop now? Its a small issue but will make you crazy in the long run as I can see you are unsure and can also see you are incredibly detail oriented. Other than that, looking INCREDIBLE. You are going to have so much fun in that kitchen. The woodworking is outstanding too.

Hubby allergic to nuts otherwise would so try those cookies. Love the pewterware and the food line. I love how you throw many different things into your posts, makes them so interesting, never ever boring.

I heart Charles Faudree too. His books are my decorating bibles and I give them as gifts all the time. Not surprised you are a fan too.

Have a great day – LP

Hi Tina! Thursdays are my favorite day in blog land! πŸ™‚
The knobs in the butlers look fine to me, but the one photo from a distance leaves me feeling the lower ones are just a tad too large. If I noticed it in the photo, I’m betting you noticed it in real life and it will drive you nuts if you don’t call them up and have them send the ones you ordered.
As a fellow pistachio lover, that recipe is already printed and on my desk! Thanks for making my decision of what to take home for Thanksgiving easier!

Your home looks fabulous! As for the butler pantry knobs, it is hard to tell in a photo–can I come over to decide, haha πŸ˜‰ Can’t wait to see the limestone for your door and surround installed, what an impressive entry that will make!

Good morning Tina,

If you lived closer I would have dragged you to some good Yoga classes. Good stress reliever, (Could need some myself, right now…).

The carved limestone that will grace your front door looks amazing! Talk about a royal welcoming!

Can’t decide on the knobs. They look a tad too big but it is very hard to see from the pictures. But trust your own instincts. You (if anybody!) know what you are doing!

Warm hugs,

Mon

The boots are so lovely, the perfect boots for winter, classy, stylish and comfortable. Bottega Veneta makes the most beautiful woven leather bags. Your house looks beautiful!
Ada

I get so excited everytime I see that you have posted something new. Your house is to die for, and I would love to get in your kitchen to plan a dinner party. What kind of appliances have you chosen? It just so happens that yesterday I took my Mercedes in for some minor repair. It’s a 2003 model and I have really put the miles on it, so I cruised around the lot. The newer models have a gigantic Mercedes emblem on them which turns me off. The smaller ones speak so much louder and classier. I refer to this because I feel the same way about your knobs. They are drop-dead gorgeous but I think the smaller size would speak for themselves. Hope this helps. Sorry about the headaches. You’ve got to be over whelmed! Hope they disappear today and never come back!

I’d go with smaller knobs

ONLY because ‘to me’, they seem to not balance with the handles. They overwhelm the handles IMO.

Oh Tina, it’s getting so close and it is all amazing. Adore the hardware on the butler’s pantry, but my obsession today is the carved limestone for your front door…spectacular!!

Everything is coming together so beautifully. The angles make it hard to tell about the knobs from the pictures…but from what I can see they don’t look too large. It’s a huge home with tall ceilings and lots of cabinets…I would worry more if they were too small(which I think a lot of people tend to do) than too big. That being said it’s really a call you have to make standing in the space and go with your gut instinct. XO, Mona

Charles Faudree is my idol. Have all his books. Not sure about the knobs. Looks o.k. in pictures, but you should go with your gut. Have not been to Bella Cucina in Atlanta. Looked it up and they have three locations here.

Sorry that ‘Mellodee’ felt the need to leave the post she did the other day. Your house IS well out of reach for most people but here in the UK we pay good money to visit Homes owned by the National Trust and English Heritage and why do we do it?. We do it to see the craftmenship and attention to detail which is often lacking into modern houses. Not all the houses are large ( see Mr Straws house in Worksop http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/mrstrawshouse/)but they are always interesting. Its lovely to see your home blossoming and the care you have taken over the smallest details. It will no doubt be around much longer than all of us and whoever visits it or owns it in years to come will appreciate all those little details that have been so important to you.
I dont always read the comment sections of blogs as I find them a bit gushy and sycophantic but I object to very negative comments!
ZoeB

Love your house posts! It’s coming along beautifully. That black butler’s pantry is just amazing and I like the larger knobs. You have tall upper cabinets and smaller knobs would look too insignificant. They are so decorative too, large is good in this case. It’s all about scale. Your kitchen is just gorgeous. Hope the migraines gets better, I used to have them a lot, but strangely they’ve disappeared. Good luck in the home stretch!

Hi Tina,

Okay, the knobs are large. As one commenter said, “It will drive you nuts” if you don’t get the ones you ordered. What I would do is to give them a call, tell them they sent the wrong size, but before I return them, send me a couple of the size I ordered for comparison. Maybe you will find that the large ones work for you and that way you will not keep thinking that they are too large or too small.

I love Charles Faudree. I’ve read his books so many times that the pages are starting to fall out. In addition to his new book “Details”, he told me he is working on another new book which as I remember was Kitchens.

Last year we moved into a much smaller house (2400 sq.ft.) from 3600 sq.ft. from 7500 sq.ft. It seems as you get older you don’t want the larger homes and given the economy it is the smarter move for us. I just returned from High Point Market. I think I need a bigger house. Wonderful, wonderful things and there were a lot of buyers. A much better market than the past several years. That gives me much hope that we are turning around at last.

I love your new home and it will become a showhouse when you are done. You fill my day with much happiness when I read your blog. Keep it up!! You write so well. You should do a book when you are done about building your dream house and of course it should be called “The Enchanted Home”.

Faith

So sorry about the migraines, Tina. Several members of my family suffer from them and I know what you are going through. As for the knobs in the pantry, I generally like to go bigger, but I think in this case because of the rosette behind the knobs, they look a little too close together. I love the design though. Would you mind sharing the source?

I plan on trying the pistachio cream cheese recipe, although I fear I will regret it.

Have a great day…Victoria

Hi Tina,
The house looks great. Wonderful progress. Truthfully, I think it is hard to tell just from the images if the knobs are too big. The space appears to be a larger sized butlers pantry with tall ceilings, so it may look fabulous when the space is completed. I would wait until the space is done being painted, cabinets filled and then see what you think. Somethings little details like this take on another personality when they aren’t the only thing in the room to look at (like right now.) You’ve got a great eye, you will make the right decision and like you said, it is a small detail that is easily changed in no time at all. XOXO.

Oh I am so in LOVE with Thursdays, thanks to your blog!

If you are anything like me- and I suspect you are (my bday is Nov 20)- get the smaller knobs. It would drive me nuts everytime I went into the b.p. if I did not have EXACTLY what I ordered and originally wanted. Yes, its another little step among many.. but I don’t think you will regret an hour or so more time when you finally move in.

I hope you and yours can be home for the holidays!

πŸ˜‰

Yes, I agree with Renee in the comment above – the house is magnificent ! KEEP THE LARGE KNOBS !! You have a “lot” of cabinet there – they are tall and take up a lot of the wall. They NEED a knob with some attitude !

Shame on that anonymous blogger! You are clearly so kind and open to us readers! Shame Shame Shame!

I love the limestone – oh you thought of everything!

I was talking to my sister yesterday and found out that she also follows your blog! We were gushing about how amazing you home is and how you are so down to earth and approachable!

Keep up the wonderful blogging, Tina. And I hope your migraines subside…

xoxo, Wendy

Love the way you have me all lulled into a false sense of security before sneaking in that recipe! Holy cow Tina, my defenses were down and I have that thing already printed, it looks too yummy to ignore!

Amazing progress on the house, my goodness. The entry is going to be magnificent, you know how crazed I am for that stairwell, every time I see new photos it looks more lovely. As far as the knobs go, I would not have noted anything odd about them, they look like they belong there, especially with the proportions in the room.

Sending you a smile,
tp

Love the blog! I look forward to the Thursday updates like everyone else.
I think the knobs are a little big. I would have to go for the smaller size. Everything is “spot on”!!!

Thank you for the great laugh this morning Tina…weird vibe??? Obviously not a loyal follower but to each their own. First may I say not only would I like to move into your butler’s pantry but now your laundry room. It’s rare that I’m jealous over somebody’s laundry room but yours is so much bigger then mine! Ok, knobs, keep the ones that are on since you have tall doors I think the smaller ones would get lost on the cupboards. You could try out a set or two of the smaller size on the shorter cupboard doors but that might look off. Those knobs are stunning! I’m off to check out Bella Cucina since the pesto sound wonderful.

Have a fabulous day, stay out of a lot of dust, headaches, and enjoy the journey of your home coming together!

Debra,

Tina, first let me opine on the knobs. I hate to say this, but I think they are a tad too big. A little too close together.
Now, on to fun things. Your house is looking amazing. This is why you have the migraine! Stress and you are anxious for this all to be over. It really is getting close. Love, love it!
I love the sips you have chosen today. I will have to go to the shop in Atlanta soon. Vagabond House. What can I say? Perfection. I am taking a coffee break on that one.
Take it easy, Tina.
Teresa
xoxo

I think you will be happier going with the smaller knobs. But, after just building and spending hours on my own knob selections, I hardly notice them now and it’s only been 6 months since we moved it. Small knobs are so elegant to me. Love all the updates – how exciting! Can’t wait to try the cookie recipe on my family.

Wow! So much gorgeousness here! I think I’ll list my thoughts instead of trying to make a coherent paragraph out of them.

~ those Frye boots make me want to run out an buy them. They are perfection.

~ Your house makes me think about “Downton Abbey” – a great TV series on PBS. Incredible estate.

~ Your anonymous commenter made ‘me’ start feeling weird.

~ I am sorry you’ve been suffering from migraines – poor you. I’ve never had one, but even a bad headache can be horrible for me. I can’t imagine what you and others with the same condition must go through.

~ I missed the Halloween post. Will have to go back and see what’s afloat.

xoxo, Adrienne

Oh where do I start?
The knobs: they look great, but would have to see the smaller ones to actually compare. Your pantry is a dream!
Migraines: have you had your thyroid checked? The thyroid gland is a very complex little guy, out of whack and it can bring on headaches and severe migraines. I had suffered for years and last year found out that I have Hashimoto Disease, my auto immune system is killing off my thyroid. Long story short, I had half of it removed, and since then, no more migraines.
Your cookies look amazing! Will add the recipe to my ever growing files!
The Vagabond House items are fabulous! Love, love, love the wooden tray!
Thank you for your updates on your house, the relief for over the front door is killer! Your writings let me escape from the confines of my 1980’s ranch styled home. You go girl!

Hello,

First let me get up off of the floor after seeing the fabulous carved limestone! Stunning! I have said it before and I will say it again, you are building a legacy, a house/home that will be here for generations of your family. The quality, time, craftsmanship and the details are something that you simply do not see in this day and age. I love it! I love your home and I love that you share it as well as your finds, and your trials and tribulations.

As stated above, yes, you are building a house that is most likely out of reach of many people. Who cares? You can afford to do it, and you share the process and the sources, which is wonderful. There are other bloggers who are world travelers, there are design bloggers who have numerous houses, there are bloggers who have written many, many books, and there are blogs by incredibly well know and successful people who have had wonderful careers and lives. How lucky we all are that they share their adventures, their photos, their ideas! If none of these are things that you as a reader like, then don’t tune in!

I do not think it takes a rocket scientist to see that you are a kind, funny, generous, person who also happens to be privilleged. I have never had the impression from the blog that you are out cheering for yourself or saying hey, look at me!

I might also add that there are bloggers who write about books, adventures to Paris, and other wonderful places, they also share their thrifting tips, their recipes, and their lives. We can learn something from everyone we meet in blogland. What is mundane for someone might be a priviledge for someone else, and vice a versa!

Ok, sorry to rant and go on like that but I do not like meanspirited commentors. You are a wonderful blog friend and have a lot going on, in addition to migraines and you do not need that.

I am sorry you are not feeling well…I laughed out loud when you made the comment about stress perhaps bringing them on. Honey you should be laying in a dark room and sedated with all of the stress of building and designing this house and taking care of three children a dog and a husband. I am praying that you are going to be in in a few weeks!!! I cannot wait for your move!

I loved all of the fun finds, I have those boots, and a plaid winter coat like that that I bought last year to wear in Paris, I don’t think I looked like the staypuff marshmellow man but I will have to go back and look.

Thank you for sharing! Thank you for venting and thank you for always making people feel special. You are a rare friend.

Oh, before I run on some more, thank you for the shout out, about my quiz and blog. You are so sweet. By the way…that is yet another thing that nasty comment person does not see about you, You are always helping and commenting and featuring so many other women and their blogs, to showcase their talents. Not many successful bloggers do that, much less take the time to comment back.

Have a wonderful and less stressful day. Take care of yourself. I am going to try these cookies this week!

Elizabeth

Migranes are the worst! My sister swears by DoTerra oils for hers! I love Bella Cucina products and also have one of their yummy cookbooks. I am in love with your butlers pantry whatever knobs you use it will look great! Can we come to your house for Christmas?!? Cuz I KNOW its going to be UH-MAZING!!

Your house is just beautiful and thanks for sharing the process and the
details. It is hard to tell in the picture, but the knobs look a little big.
If your instinct tells you they are too big, just send them back or they
will drive you crazy. You waited so long, what is a couple of months
for new knobs- you will still be able to open the doors.

Would you please share the date of the oatmeal cookie post.
I have some how lost it. Thanks Mary Ann

Oh this pistachio cookie recipe looks divine.
I can’t wait to try it. I am sorry that I missed your oatmeal cookie recipe could you possibly direct me to that posting so I can find it?
I love love love every little DETAIL of your beautiful home.
thanks so much for allowing us to peek behind the curtain.

Tina echoing what so many others have said ( you do have a lot of fans) but I can nearly guarantee you they are your fans mostly because of WHO you are, a kind hearted, generous giving spirit. Your amazing house may have gotten most of us here as a draw but I promise you it is YOU that has kept so many so tuned in to all you do and say…you are a special and rare person and I am so happy to be sharing in this adventure. Love coming here Tina!!

Tina, I hate to say it but I think the smaller knobs would be a better scale for your cabinets. I totally agree with Elizabeth above. I really enjoy that you share all of your building excitement and your worries and down days. It really does make me feel better to know that I am not alone when I have a bad day! Keep up the good work and try to keep things in perspective about the house. Maybe it will help your headaches!

I like the knobs the way they are! Easy to grab, beautiful details…pictures can be deceiving…but I still think keep em’!

Beautiful home!

Sorry about the migraines, I know that must be frustrating! I think the knobs look great as is πŸ™‚ I cannot wait to see your home decorated for Christmas!! Hoping you are able to get in before the holidays.

Love the fact that when people have something negative to say on blogs, they go by “anonymous.” My grandmother always said, it you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it! I’ll make sure to forward your post to Charles – he’s a new friend of ours and we love his style!
xxoo

Have missed your last few posts so catching up now. We live on a boat so get no trick or treaters, I do kind of miss that.

You house is coming along wonderfully and I bet you can’t wait to get in!

Elizabeth is right, mean spirited people are sad. you have to view their comments as sour grapes I think.

Your migraines, I too am a sufferer so know where you come from. Mine have eased off since meno, there is light at the end of the tunnel. I also had some success with a herb called Feverfew, check it out.

All the very best and I am looking forward to the day when you get your furniture in, can’t wait to see it, you have such good taste.

All the Best

Details, details- my favorite part. I’ve probably said that about other things along the way but today the details have awed me. In one of the photos the knobs looked too big but other than that one photo, I think they look like the appropriate size. I mean, assuming those are really your cabinets πŸ˜‰ Have a great day Tina- thanks for sharing!

Hello my friend,
Smaller knobs. The back plate is too big on the stile from what I can see…Scale isn’t bad with the door size but…1/4″ is a big deal in my world.
So obsessed with the BV bag..I saw your great guest post on Elizabeth’s blog!
Everything is amazing and the limestone…OH TINA!
Sorry about the migraines..I used to get them like crazy…always knew they were coming since I would lose part of my vision in my right eye.
Helps me to lay in dark room with rolled up towel right under my neck..something about the pressure. And I have a prescription Ibuprofen that I take the second I start to get that weird aura.
Happy Thursday,
Amy

Tina, so sorry to hear about your migraines. Not fun! I love how the house is coming along. The kitchen is going to look amazing. I would love to know what color you used on the cabinets in the kitchen. It looks like a creamy white. Thanks so much, Julie

Geez, it’s no wonder you have migraines…with all these opinions to contemplate I’d have a headache too!:) In the last pantry photo the knobs appear to be in scale to the height of the room, but just to be sure you could always have them send you just two smaller knobs to test out…rather than changing them all.

The cookies are DeeeeLiscious! I can tell just by looking at them. BTW: I’m willing to give up your blog for a few weeks IF you think a vacation from blogging would banish the migraines. That’s my 2 cents πŸ™‚

Hi Tina!
Sooooo look forward to your Thursday house updates. I oogle and awe every time I visit your blog. I had to laugh when I read ‘anonymous’ wonder if this was really your home and if you really exist. What a tremendous amount of work to make this all up—and if it were even possible to make up,I would be impressed!
Anyway…..I agree that the lower knobs need to be a bit smaller, they look a little chubby for the lean lines of the cabinet doors.
You have an exquisite eye and must be incredibly organized!!!
Please know that your posts always make me happy (even if one is sad–Halloween. My boys are too old for Halloween now and I do get nostalgic as well).
Have a wonderful day!

l do hope that pesky migraine has decided to leave. They are so debilitating.

Your beautiful home is looking sensational. l love seeing the updates and progression. The carved limestone for the front door entrance surround is perfect !

Yes, your house is amazing but why are you building such a large home when you have said your children are grown? Only asking what many have wondered. Also, most people can not afford all the fancy clothes &the items that you post as well. I think you flaunt your wealth, very unbecoming. people should be able to comment honestly as well without being called mean spirited , bitter orijealous

Tina, the house is coming along so nicely! You must be getting so excited to move in soon! I say go with your gut on the knobs. If you don’t think they look right, go a little smaller. Otherwise, it will drive you crazy every time you see them. Holy, cow… the limestone carvings are divine!!! xo

Hi Tina
Sorry to hear your suffer from migraines. I take Maxalt and used take immitrex. Acapuncture and the chiropractor can work magic too. Ice packs at the base of the neck also relieve.
Your home is going to be a work of art and I love your care in the details. The limestone is going to look spectacular.

I anxiously look forward to each new post

I can’t believe it’s the end of the day and here I am…so late! First, bless your heart about those migraines. I don’t suffer from them but a dear friend has her entire life and I have been there when the blinds must be drawn and no noise allowed in. Hang in there!!!

I’m learning a whole new language – construction! They laid the footings and poured the foundation today. Woo hoo….moving right along! Not nearly as involved as your project but so fun to see my house literally from the ground up!

I am crazy for Vagabond and have their steak knife collection which I think is just the best for steak nights. So, really love these trays! Oh, who am I kidding…I love everything you highlight!! πŸ™‚

Tina,

I am so sorry you deal with migranes. πŸ™ I agree with Mona on her comment about your Butler’s pantry – love it by the way – it is hard to see from the photo, but I didn’t think they looked out of place. One of your other readers suggested just seeing what a few of the other size compared, good advice, but definitely don’t go too small!

Love Cucina, will have to look up their cafe here in ATL.

You can sure pack a lot in a post!

xo

When used in moderation, wood brings out a neutrality and warmth to a room that would be hard to bring out using any other material. Wood paneling is the most commonly known way of using wood in a room.

Ahh, I knew my day was off yesterday, but I couldn’t figure out why. It’s becuase I hadn’t taken a moment to study your house updates duh! It’s looking soo wonderful and I love how you’ve managed to make a big space cozy! That limestone is going to be fantastic as well. Ignore the rude commenters. People are blessed in many different ways and there’s no reason for people to be mean about it. I feel blessed that you are willing to share the building of your dream home and all of your inspiration with all of us. It gives me something to look forward to everyday! That, and you happen to be one of the kindest bloggers out there and I feel lucky to have “met” you through this endeavor.

I’ve visited the Bella Cucina shop in Atlanta many times! It’s in a charming walking neighborhood called Virginia-Highland, and I believe the store recently moved to a new expanded location in the same retail block. I too love that artichoke lemon pesto — makes a very yummy dip. Come to Atlanta & I’ll show you the shop in person!

I love the design of the knobs! If there will be a lot of them, I would go with the smaller ones so all of them together won’t overwhelm the space. But, I would try both sizes before deciding and returning the size I did not want. Of course, let us see what you decide on. Hope your headache goes away. You’ve got things to do and no time for migraines.

I am new to your blog but think it is lovely thus far. I loathe mean comments. But I do not that when people feel badly they act badly. And that is simply what this is. I also suffer from migraines and my 10 year old son and 15 year old son do too. We have tried all sorts of remedies. The chiropractor works magic on me. Hope yours get better soon.

I love the boots, have to go and find them, love riding boots and buy a pair or two every season.
Your finds are always so great, you should be a personal shopper!
Your home is showstoppingly beautiful and its not even done yet! That limestone reminds me of what see on all the grande old buildings in France. Your home is the stuff dreams are made of and it couldn’t happen to a nicer person, you seem to share and be so kind.
Wishing you the very best and hope you get to be in before the holidays. We just moved into our new house and though its a lot of work, still…we are having so much fun dreaming up of what to do next.
It really is a labor of love. So glad you are sharing this beautiful journey with us.
Best, Annie

Oh my goodness, it took me about ten minutes to scroll down to here just to comment. Go girl! Love the updates, it’s coming along beautifully. I am so impressed that your builder has the sense and consideration to cover up all your floor coverings and counter tops because mine doesn’t. So I am constantly going around covering marble tiles and benches, buying my own plastic drop sheets and taping them down, and asking over and over again for people to look after the surfaces, most of which have already been scratched because the builder and the tradies don’t seem to care much about them. Drives me nuts!
