Funny I was never a huge check kind of girl. But somehow over the years, they have really grown on me. I mean REALLY grown on me. Thanks Charles Faudree and Bunny and Carolyn and countless other talented designers who have made me a convert.   I think the first time I fell in love with a room was one in Charles’s books…of a gorgeous room filled with buffalo checked covered furniture. It was so charming, warm  yet sophisticated, my favorite look.
Since then I an consistently drawn to the versatile, always elegant yet inviting look of buffalo checks. There are so many ways to use them, in all the many colors…..how about you? Do you like them? Have you decorated with them? Would you? I used a smaller buffalo check in my back powder room and have a chair in my living room in buffalo check silk. Today’s a tribute to this wonderful print…….what do you think? Let me know! Feast your eyes on these……..

Hi Tina, these are all very beautiful. I don’t have anything wtih checks but have to say after seeing this post am rethinking my breakfast room makeover due to start next month. I love how charming and warm the checks make even the most formal room feel. Great post.

I commented yesterday but again a big congratulations to you on the Homegoods deal, that is really exciting but very well deserved.

I felt the same way about Check, but it’s so true it depends on the way its used! You have picked the perfect images to display check in a beautiful way! Have fun in PA , we are right over the border in NJ should be a nice weekend!

I’m absolutely addicted to check – they feature in each and every one of my rooms. It’s not a conscious decision, but for some reason they always find their way into a scheme somehow!
Have a great weekend,
Paula x

I have always loved checks! I seem to gravitate to them. Actually looking for one now to cover a settee. Love your photos you found – thanks for sharing them with us.

No one loves buffalo check more than I do, so I am in check heaven right now. I have always used checks in rooms and love the look and warmth they give a room. Thank you for so many gorgeous images.
Happy Friday, Tina.

Tina–not sure where to leave my name to be entered into your giveaway for the HomeGoods $500 certificate. Please enter me- [email protected]

I can’t tell you how “refreshing” your blog was today. There is something about checks that is really special to me–I guess it is casual informality with class!

One more thing—I want to make your recipe this week…what type of “beef” did you start with? It sounds wonderful and I trust your recipes. Dearly love the tomatoes with pasta one.

Tina,

Love the checks they are a welcome addition for design fabric options. They offer eye pleasing results every time as seen above. Great to use as a dramatic table cloth and still has a grand presence. Perfect post! Have a wonderful weekend!

Bette

These are lovely images, Tina, but I have never used checks and don’t think I am a convert, although, as Katie Clooney suggested above, I think I could love them in small doses with a toile.
Best…Victoria

I love a good buffalo check, but don’t have any…will have to remedy that. Just a touch. Great pics as always, Tina! 😉

Hi Tina, beautiful post. Actually I designed my daughters room from a Bunny Williams room I had seen years ago that incorporated checks and toile. It is still beautiful five years later and all my friends always go in to see her room every time they visit because its so pretty. We have changed a few things to have it feel more grown up but we just redid the window seat with checks and velvet pillows and I must say it looks so beautiful. Loved this post. Congrats again to you on the honor given to you by Homegoods. That is really exciting, hope you have a nice weekend.

I looked at checks the same way as you for years; but lately they have grown on me if used with discretion. They can be awfully pretty; and I have seen some stunning rooms using them!

Hi, Tina ~
Love buffalo checks! To me, they are very Swedish….so popular in Gustavian interiors. I love upholstering the backside of chairs with them. Your living room is beautiful….so stately. Enjoy Pennsylvania. We might go antiquing there Sunday 🙂
Cheers,
Loi

Hi Tina,

Love your silk buffalo checked chair and I agree buffalo checks really do grow on you. Wonderful images Tina!

Sounds like a fun weekend ahead! I am considering attending an antique show on the west coast and we have a Seattle Seahawk game.. and I have a to-list around the house 🙂

Enjoy your day!

Good morning Tina and happy weekend to you! I love buffalo checks, did them for a client a few years ago…timeless, classic!
Congrats on the Homegoods honor! I LOVE HG!
Meeting some of my fave bicycling chicas for a 40 mile ride through the rolling hills of north GA tomorrow and then probably going to drive to AL to see my son so we can celebrate my upcoming birthday!

Tina,
I’m a huge fan of buffalo checks, there are at least 2 images above that are my all time favorite rooms. Especially the brown and white buffalo checks with the brown and white transferware on the wall.
Your silk buffalo check chair is great for that room.
Karen

What a pretty post. I love checks and have them in my kitchen and think they add such warmth to the space. I also think they are timeless and wil always be in style. Have a lovely weekend and a big congratulations to you on being recognized by Homegoods, what an honor (but I can see why they chose you).

Tina they really work beautifully in many designs; and not at all too much, as some might think! Great images!

happy Friday Tina!! I am a total check girl!! Give me a good check and a stripe and I am happy. I have a mini check on a chair and I have a medium check on some pillows in my family room. I wear lots of checks, usually in navy and white or black and white!! Loving CHECKS!!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Kathysue

Given that we’re “Farmhouse Glam”, of course, we love checks and our very first couch was covered in a blue and white Cowtan & Tout pattern. It was perfect for a large family room painted Ralph Lauren blue! Wishing you a wonderful weekend, Tina.

I’ve been seeing a lot of great buffalo checks out there lately. We don’t have any in our home, but I think they can be a great addition to a room.
Happy Weekend, Tina! Enjoy. XO

Love check! I’m working on a post that has a pretty red check pattern and it’s sold out now! So upset! I’m going to have to go on the hunt for one! Love all of these images!

Love the buffalo checks! These images are stunning–truly teachable pictures. Lots of folks don’t get right. These are all spot on and gorgeous!

Hello Tina! Loving the photos you chose here, plaid / checks are a strong part of my decor, mainly because they are beautiful but also seem to ground everyting else in the room somehow, don’t they? They work with paisleys beautifuly, they work with floral prints …well just about any print. I love them in my dupioni silk as cafe style drapes in our nook, and my son’s bedroom as shades…. after seeing your post, I may be adding a few more checks into the house (: it is hard to resist them.
hugs Z

I’ve always been a fan of checks in any size and I’ve used it everywhere I could work it in. I love the photos on this blog. Where do you get so many of them? Congratulations on your partnership with Homegoods.

Good morning, Tina!

I love checks and STRIPES! One piece for me, however, against a simpler backdrop; that is just the FUSSY artist in me…but I LOVE that first photo especially, with the large checks. I remember a French friend of mine having a wildly striped couch in her apartment; it fit so beautifully with the décor because she kept the rest simple, but colorful. LOVE ALL THE PHOTOS! I will see you Monday! Anita

Hi TIna,
I think you’ve won me over!!! I never think of doing checks, but seeing how well they look incorporated into an overall room design…I need to give checks a chance!!!

Have a wonderful weekend!
xoxo Elizabeth

I do love buffalo checks! Not sure why I don’t have anything in it right now…except that I gave my red buffalo checked loveseat to my daughter to “use” for a while! It was always the most commented on piece in the room! It’s a great check from Old World Weavers and comes in a lot of great colors if you ever want to look it up! I love the chair in your living room! Beautiful! Glad you got to laugh at my post today! It was a fun adventure and I am looking forward to doing it again very soon! Have a wonderful weekend, Tina!

I love buffalo checks, but tend to like them in darker colors. I could totally see myself doing my future son’s room similar to the RH room! Hope you are having a great weekend!

Hello Tina,

I hope you are having a wonderful weekend!

There are so many great ideas here, I am a fan of checks and I think you have shown that they look great in any setting! I love them all.

Have a fabulous day, Elizabeth

Oh I love the green Meg Braff room. These checks are the best way to add a little tradition to any room!
