Hi there, hope you had a wonderful weekend. Mine was a turning point? (a good one) because after a long haul,? I finally was able to get out of the house the later part of the weekend….a big step. I am taking it slow but it was nice to finally step out, I was going a bit stir crazy! Yesterday,? my son and I? spent the day college dorm shopping which as I had said earlier in the week is bittersweet…..

I so looked forward to spending the day together as it is always a treat for me to spend quality time with my hunky “little boy” even though he towers over me and makes me feel like I just might be shrinking a teeny tiny bit:) We had a great day together, and he had me laughing more than he had me crying especially over his concerns about how he will figure out how to do laundry all on his own. Gotta love it. But then there were a few moments where his leaving in a few weeks hit me and hit me? hard and that was not so easy.

It signifies the time is near and though it is very exciting, it also means him going off on his own and I am going to miss him terribly. OK, I am going to stop? right this very minute and move along to the purpose of this post ….pictures that make me smile. Sometimes you need to take a slight departure from design, decor and such and just do a fun post to inspire and uplift and what a great way to start the week. Especially with all the sadness and grief happening in our world right now.

These pictures remind you to cherish your children (and pets) every step of the way, savor and enjoy the beautiful seasons, celebrate even the smallest victories and find joy in the simple pleasures that are out there to be found just about anywhere. These pictures need no narration, you will see why……

Hope these put a smile on your face (OK I admit it and a few tears too, happy tears though) like the soldiers are always a no brainer, but also the amazing assistant dog,? the horse rescue picture and somehow seeing elderly couples always does it too.

Wishing you a wonderful day and wonderful start to your week. I cannot believe we are already in August, where has this summer gone!! Someone reminded me yesterday that there are only? 141? days until Christmas……..yikes!? Thanks as always for stopping in.

I may not always be able to afford your lovely items, but your pictures bring so much delight to my mind. I care for a sick husband, and these pictures take me back to a more peaceful time. Thank you.

Oh Tina….THESE PHOTOS! There are so many favorites here…the sign that says, “NO WIFI…TALK TO EACH OTHER”, then all the dog pics (that looks like Mr. Teddy!), the hospital rounds dog who helps children recover, the horse sleeping with his trainer (and a semblance of a smile on his muzzle) and the horse being rescued from the mud…BIG LOVE!

But the greatest story is yours and your son. Dropping him off to college, talking, laughing (crying…I’d be a mess!) and all that you have done to get him there. Tina, you are the best.

Yes my friend, that is ME in the ballroom at the American Swedish Institute, just about 8 miles from my home, in Minneapolis. There are so many mansions and castles here, I am in my element! You would love it, for the decorating sensibilities of the Twin Cities’ designers is outstanding. Oh, to dance, to dance forever. That’s what the music does to these old legs of mine…..

What a lovely way to start the day! Thank you so much…and have a wonderful day yourself! Glad you’re feeling better!

Love it!…Love it!….Love it!…..Love it!!!!!!!!!

Tina Fey, you are my heroine!

Tina,
Where do you fine these things???? So beautiful, I love them all, would love to frame the twins girls with the blue dresses…unreal…. Glad you doing a little better….

We take our youngest daughter to college on Friday, August 15th. She will be 2 hours away. When I think about it, I almost can’t breathe. I miss her terribly already. And yet I am beyond proud. I know how you feel. Saying a prayer for you my friend. Blessings from Missouri.

What wonderful pictures that jog my mind of days I once also went through. My son is 38 and recently had a heart attack- boy if that doesn’t make you cherish every minute nothing will!
All your pics tug at my heart.
Thanks

Thank you! A sweet start to my day. Our youngest leaves for college next week, too. I’ll be looking to you for some mutual support and strength! I’m so happy for him–that helps me get through the difficult moments.

Thank you for the beautiful photos. Congrats on your son going off to college. I have sent off three including a pair of twins. It is a bittersweet milestone in your lives. Watching my children fade away from sight as we drove away was indescribable. It was a hurt that seemed unbearable and that might never go away. You will mourn for those days when there seemed to an unlimited amount of time and college was a distant spot on the horizon. That’s the downside. The best part? You will see your child bloom and blossom into an adult with all the possibilities the world has to offer. You will know that you played a large part in all of that and that it WILL be o.k.

Good morning, Tina. Your post put a lump in my throat. You must be such a proud mama to see your son stepping into the adventure of his life, but how very, very bittersweet. The photos you chose here are so lovely and such a reminder of all that is good and beautiful in the world. Have a wonderful week! XOXO

Loved all of these photos Tina and I can relate to your feelings.. it’s bittersweet. We spend almost 20 years preparing them for this moment and then we feel sad. This is parenting at its finest πŸ˜‰ You’ve done a great job! You’ve prepared your son (minus the laundry;) .. so funny!) and now you can sit back and enjoy the journey ahead. Having already gone through this, I will it’s all good and there are some wonderful moments ahead. A few tears and moments are to be expected but once in your groove (when the kids move on) it’s actually very nice. You can focus on yourself and husband:) Thanks for visiting yesterday! We came back from vacation with a few problems on the home front. One of the sub-contractors didn’t work out so not much happened while we were gone last week. I wasn’t happy when I got home!! Everything got worked out and we will get plumbing in over the next few days so progress is being made…….. (sorry for all the rambling..) Have fun today!

Tina, you nailed it again! Your post was the first thing I read this morning and what a rollercoaster ride of emotions, both sweet and sad. Now I’m going to go pin them. And by the way, I’m a mom of 5 that has sent 4 of them off to college, so I can relate. The dorm shopping is so fun and before you know it they will be moving the dorm stuff into their first apartment like one of my sons did this week. Hang on to every moment with them, they are fleeting.

Tina-
I don’t know where to start! Wow!
First, I am happy you are up and about!
These images are beautiful and so meaningful. You will be seeing some of these images on My Pinterest Favorites!
I know how it is to leave a child behind at college, and while it is an exciting time, it is also heart wrenching. I will be keeping you in my prayers.

Thank-you for the beautiful & heart warming images Tina. I already had a few of these pictures on my inspiration board (including Teddy) & will now be adding a few more. Best of luck to your son!

Tina you never cease to inspire whether its with your decorating, your design sense, cooking, fashion or entertaining skills, and then this…just wonderful. I smiled (and cried happy tears as you said) through the entire post. You are right there is so much so smile about all around us. and our kids and our pets are by far the most prized gift of them all.

Thank you Tina and so happy to hear you are doing better!

Oh Tina what a perfect post. I just read that Julie’s dad (TG Interiors) died of Alzheimer’s, so I was already crying. And then thinking of your boy leaving – I can’t even imagine (yet). So these more encouraging and heart warming photos really hit the spot -thank you!
Stacy

Hi! Omg I love this post more than you can imagine for so many reasons! Too many reasons to count. I can totally relate to how precious spending time with your grown children is!! So inspiring. Thank you and I hope you’re doing great!

Tina,

THANK YOU FOR THE SMILES!!!I needed this today! I loved all of these photos, especially the wi-fi one, and all of the animals ans soldiers.

I am sure that your time with your son is bitter sweet but you raised an intelligent, loving boy and he is probably a little conflicted too about his new adventure to college. \

Have a great week!

Oh, Tina, what a fantastic post…many of these made me smile…a few made me cry. I am missing my little boy a lot this week with him being SO far away, and am feeling particularly emotional about them all growing up. Thanks for brightening my day with these lovely photos.

Enjoy this time with your son…even the little things like teaching him to do laundry! I know it will be hard to drop him off, but please trust me when I assure you “it will be okay”…xoxo

Thanks much for this!! Taking your son to college brings back so many memories! Oh my, the laundry memory. When we took our daughter we toured her dorm & when we got to the laundromat my late husband pulled her to the side & said ‘OK, if it loads from the top it is a washer, the other is the dryer. Have fun’. You will always remember this journey. As the song goes , Thanks for the memories!!

So many great ones here! Pinned the floral. As for the bittersweetness of your son leaving for college, is this your first one going? I promise it gets easier once you see them settled. My daughter had found her “group” before we even left to come home after moving her in. Three years later they are still her closest friends. Wait until you have one move out after graduation…

I’ve only recently started blogging and reading your blog, but I just love your posts. Wishing you a wonderful end of summer and a great move in!! Oh, and 3 words of advice… “pack and hold”. It rocked my world… πŸ™‚
