Hello there from snowy NY. Yes, we got even more snow but? at this point when you have nearly a foot on the ground already, what’s another 4 or 5 inches? Spring cannot come soon enough! Winter is for the hawks I mean birds, speaking of hawks……how exciting was that Superbowl?

I could not get over that “sit on the edge of your seat” ending, crazy! The fact that that one play is being considered to be one of if not the worst plays in Superbowl history? no doubt will forever haunt the Seahawks and this from me, not even a football fan:)

Moving onto the business of design, one of my favorite subjects! I have been fortunate to really grow my edesign business and right now am working on four large projects, all are so exciting. From Beverly Hills to Utah and Missouri all the way to Newport, Rhode Island! I love the connections I make and helping people create their dream home whether its a bathroom or doing multiple rooms at once.

I also get a lot of people who write me wanting to know about how it works so think this post is overdue, and I hope it might help explain things a bit and maybe demystify some things about e design. So this is a little about e design, lets call e design 101. A few fast facts-

  • There are one of three “plans” available, it all depends on how involved you want to get with the project. Sometimes people are looking for ideas, an? opinion and just a starting point, but most of the time people are looking to delve much deeper and want to actually put an entire room together. And then the most involved? plan includes me extending my trade discounts which is hugely beneficial for anyone looking to start purchasing right away. Finally there are custom packages, for when someone wants to do multiple rooms at one time or a space is not a conventional room, like a living room attached to a music room, etc….
  • Who is edesign ideal for? Someone who needs help, is on their computer and comfortable with lots of email exchanges, works great for those who work and don’t have an abundance of time , as this can be done at their convenience 24/7.
  • The amount of time working together largely depends on the extent of the project,? most projects take about 2-3 weeks but many involve months of going back and forth. Ordering furniture takes time (often 3 or 4 months) so it can be up to? a full year before a room truly comes together. (or as budget allows)
  • It is a very cost effective way to get design help and is much more time efficient, so it’s a great solution for many!
  • The core success of e design however is contingent upon a constant flow of communication between me and the client. This is vital. Everything is done via email with pictures, links to products and of course mood boards that I make up to help the client “visualize”.
  • The best way to choose who you hire for edesign is to look at their work/taste/style and determine whose is the closest to what you love. Most of,? if not all my clients come to me because they like my aesthetic and chances are they also love blue and white:)

Here are some mood boards to give you an idea of how those work (depending on what plan the client has selected will dictate how involved/specific? they are) They range from putting various fabrics together to showing different vignettes all the way to a completed room with accessories-

So there you have it, a brief synopsis of how edesign works. There is no doubt it is growing by leaps and bounds across the board. I have the great fortune to work with some really wonderful clients who I have continued a relationship with as they work to finish their spaces, it is immensely gratifying and I look forward to sharing more finished spaces with you when they are ready for their “closeup”!

Hi Tina. Haunted is a good word for it! Here in Seattle we are still in shock and feeling like that ending must have been a bad dream. But what a game. And at least with a Patriot fan in our house, somebody is happy.

Can’t believe you have more snow! None to speak of here – it seems as if we’ve skipped winter all together, which I’m a little sad about.

It’s lovely to see how much you can do for your clients through your e-design services. How wonderful to have a vision and watch it come to life for someone.

Hope you have a wonderful week! XOXO

Good morning, Tina!

Oh, snow! We’re getting yet another storm with 50 cm of snow! I want to get out of here!!!! 🙂

I love your mood boards, Tina. They’re beautiful! I also enjoy working with e-design. In fact, I have being working with clients over the net since 2011 and I have to say that many of them became my close friends. E-design, I find, is an easy way for the clients to have their homes “finished” without breaking their bank account and I have to say that I find it’s a fabulous idea!

Your clients are lucky to have you, Tina!

Have a Blessed week!

Good Morning Tina,

Yes, we are still in total shock here in Seattle. It wouldn’t have been so bad if we hadn’t been so close. Why Pete C. wanted to through the ball rather than run it in will forever be a mystery ..

E-Design is a genius idea and saves so much time traveling back and forth to an interior design studio. It’s fun to see your dream come to a reality here on your blog and I feel fortunate to have you as a resource and friend.

There is still a third phase of construction here ( a den and office). We are way over budget with just the building part and still have outside landscape to start in the spring so I am sitting with lots of empty space until we recover financially :\ .. and it’s SO hard not to buy.

Enjoy your Monday and stay warm!

I don’t think I have scrolled through anything recently that has given me as much pleasure as this one. I cannot imagine one person being so gifted!! It brightened this rainy day in eastern NC, where living close to the beach and lots of water around, we love our blue, white, and creams! Have a fabulous week, Tina!

Hi Tina,

I agree with everyone, your mood boards are fabulous. Can’t get enough of your design esthetic. It is my dream to redo my home in blue and white…..

Hi Tina,
Thank you for that post – I had never heard of E design before.
I love the mood boards, they are very inspiring, as ever. Being a Lisa B myself, I would gladly slip in to that bedroom.
My husband and I started to watch the Super Bowl last night but failed miserably and fell asleep as it didn’t start til 11.30pm over here (UK). I do have two tired teenage boys who stayed up til 3.30 am watching it though, so it must have been good.
Thanks again,
Lisa

Tina you are doing a fabulous job for your e-clients, isn’t it amazing how the design business evolves constantly!

What a game indeed!

xoxo

Tina we were devastated to see our beloved Seahawks lose in such a dramatic loss. My husband was there and said he had tears in his eyes seeing the team he has supported for so long leave the stadium with their heads held low.

This post is amazing, your taste level is sublime. When we begin our remodel (in June) I know who I will turn to for design advise, you have proven you can tackle any style- magnificently!

Tina you really are an incredible lady. You are able to do so much and do it so well. Gifted, that is the word for you, and of course kind and generous. I will say the superbowl was brutal to watch, even for us Patriots fans. I was ready to accept defeat even after we came back from ten points under in the last quarter….the Hawks had the game in hand. When the reversal of fortune came it was stunning for us. It took a bit to sink in, we really won? So its a game we will never forget. Both teams played their hearts out for sure. We are buried in snow, it finally stopped last night. Shop is closed today, so I will have the luxury of visiting my fav bloggers. xo

Hi Tina
What software do you need to create mood boards. I would love to try and see what I might come up with. I loved your post, your boards. But don’t recall anything about actually making them -or is that strictly a designer secret or for the trade? Thanks!

I do my e-decorating the exact same way! I like when people pass on trade discounts because so many hide them from the clients. I think it’s fine to keep them if it is disclosed as part of the fee arrangement, but a lot of times decorators are making twice what the client thinks because it is not disclosed. Love your mood boards, too – no wonder you are so popular. PS – being from Boston, Sunday was fun, although I felt badly for Seattle
