Hello and happy Monday morning to you.? Would you believe it if I told you it snowed here again? Yes I thought you would. Another 6 inches on top of what we already have. Will this winter ever end? It is seriously hard for me to imagine seeing green grass and flowers in a matter of weeks, but I am still hoping!

I was invited to be? a part of a wonderful project by Leslie of Segreto Secrets. Yes, that Leslie, the unrivaled queen of incredible finishes and interiors. He latest? book, Segreto Style? is one of my all time faves, click here to see them. The project is all about taking on an organization project and showing the process.

First I want to thank Leslie for inviting me and because of that she inspired me to do a little sprucing up. I am going to be honest my original project was going to be my office (a work in progress) but the storage units I ordered did not come in on time so I scrambled at the very last minute for another project. Which is where my bathroom vanity comes in……

This is not going to be the most impressive or largest project not by a long shot. But I am nevertheless very happy with how it turned out. My vanity top was littered with so much clutter, I was so tired of looking at it, that this little project was a godsend!

I like using holders and containers that are as pretty as they are functional. So this is what I started with-

A large porcelain blue and white bowl

A few little glass and silver containers

Mint julep cups

Baskets

A pretty silver tray

First I took the blue and white bowl and put all my skincare/a few makeup products in it basically the stuff I use every day. It is accessible and easy to find.

Then? I put my perfumes on the tray, just the perfumes! Before it had skincare, lipsticks, hair products, you name it!

I then took all my lipsticks and put them in this pretty little box, since it’s glass I can easily see what I have in there.

Took my darling little mint julep cups and put brushes in one, all my makeup pencils in another, hairbrushes in one and finally my toothbrush and paste in the last one. I love the way these look:)

For under the counter, I got little wicker baskets from Homegoods and filled them with things like soaps, toilet paper, leftover makeup, hair products, etc…..it is easy to find/reach and looks presentable.

All containers (except the baskets) are from my online shop

A much tidier vanity top!

I feel soooooo much better with this little area being organized and when everything has a place I am a very happy girl:) Even though it was not my original project, love the feeling of something being organized, no matter how big or small!

Hope you enjoyed my organizational challenge, have ideas and tips of your own? Would love to hear them. I love the way you used all your beautiful things to organize your products!!! Just finishing my bathroom I will have to do the same!! You are the sweetest to participate!! Please stay warm!! xo Leslie

Yes, absolutely beautiful things that you have used to organize…and it’s so much easier to get your makeup on when things are close at hand rather than digging through drawers. I’m digging out from under everything that’s been going on in my life and hoping to get back to blogland more. I’ve really missed it. Have an awesome day.

Tina you have done a great job of beautifully corralling your everyday items and storing others nearby! Using your beautiful containers is the perfect way!

Hi Tina, This past year I have had great success in simplifying my skin care and make-up routines.
I find that using only a few well-edited products reduces the storage requirements. This makes it faster and simpler to tidy up, to monitor expiry dates, and to keep brushes and containers clean. Easier on the wallet, too!

That is so clever I really love the mint julep cups used for pencils and brushes, so smart. I also love that you incorporated your blue and white into this project. Nicely done, Tina.

Sorry to hear you got even more snow, here we are experiencing unusually warm temps. It’s been a strange winter.

Thinking you could have eliminated some things. Do you really use 6 hairbrushes and all those liners and lipsticks? I’m the pot calling the kettle black. LOL

Love this! I am going to steal a few ideas, never though of the blue and white bowl to hold my every day must haves and think the silver cups is such a great idea. Great Tina.

Great inspiration for doing a little work on my own vanity. Love all of your pretty containers and trays and the baskets are perfect for under the sink! Great job, Tina!!

I loooovvve the silver mint julep cups! So pretty on your vanity….I will look on your store for a few today ; o ))

Cheers and say warm! Kelley

What a pretty way to keep your essentials organized! I did a similar corralling of items a while back when I did a little renovation of my bath and dressing area. It’s wonderful to be able to find things instead of pouring through a jumbled up mass. I used containers that would fit inside my deep vanity drawers. Now I can find what I need, sit the containers on the vanity if I choose, and hide them away for a clean, sleek look when I need it to be that way. (Isn’t is amazing how many things we consider to be “essential”? Tee hee hee)

Great idea. So tired of cleaning my makeup drawers with powder, eyes shadow ,ect spilling all over the place

Tina,

I can believe it will snow again, they said on the weather report this week that there are two storms converging and the all 50 states have the possibility of snow! Crazy weather.

I love using mint julep cups and porcelain bowls on the vanity! What a great way to see all of your everyday items!

Be safe and stay warm,
Elizabeth

While you are my home style goddess in every other way, I have to ask on this topic..What do you keep in the side drawers and doors? I’d send those items to a different cabinet so you can utilize the storage space in the vanity for your “go to, everyday” items. Your bathroom is soooo stunning. Is there a beautiful dresser you can place your fabulous perfume display on, away from the moisture of the sink? I’d like to see your lipsticks in a drawer organizer that will allow them to stand up so you can see the color names quickly without dumping them on the counter to get to a bottom one. A stunning blue & white porcelain tray would be ideal to stand up your treatment bottles (those that you use EVERY day. 1-2X per week treatments go underneath)

But I must admit, I love to see that you live like the rest of us, but you get to do it in a castle! LOL!

Hi Tina being a newer reader I just have to tell you how much I am enjoying your blog, have gotten so many good ideas here. And today’s post has my name all over it.

I am lucky to have my own small bath and since I wake up very early (5:40) to make a 6:30 train I am always racing against the clock. I LOVE the idea of having all of my essentials right here where I need them. The little silver cups are perfect to organize brushes and make up tools. I also like the idea of a bowl for the every day things.

I love all of your ideas. Thank you Tina.

Do you still have a set of the blue Staffordshire dogs? I fear I have waited too long and I simply adore them! Loved finding your blog, have been bed bound for a couple of months with a rare brain fluid leak and you can’t imagine what “good medicine” your blog has been for me! I fell in love with blue and white as a child, loving my grandmothers blue and white breakfast China. Also your flat top ginger jars are just fabulous!
Thank you for giving me something to look forward too!
Linda

This was such a great post! Everyone can utilize the options you have given with things they already own and with a few homegoods additions! I am in the process of finishing up a little powder room in my own home and plan to use the baskets like you have suggested under the sink so it doesn’t look so darn ugly!!

This is giving me inspiration to do some organizing of my own makeup and hair tools! I love how you prettified things that otherwise look a mess. Thanks so much for sharing. I love love love your blue and white porcelain jars, by the way.

These are very pretty ways to store your face products, but Why on earth in your fabulous new build, did you not make your mirrors hide wall cabinets???
I have a wall of 3 cupboards that are the depth of the studs and are concealed behind mirrors. Every product sits on glass shelves neatly and can be seen and used so easily. There are no ugly plastic bottles or messy piles of make up on my lovely granite bench tops.
All that sits on them are my pretty water glasses, liquid soap in a crystal dispenser, a cyclamen in a Victorian milk glass jardiniere and a vase of flowers, at the moment they are gardenias.
Whilst my mirrors are just plain, you could just as easily use any pretty and decorative mirrors for the cupboard doors, just make sure that the hinges are sturdy enough for the weight and that the mirror clears the top of the taps when it swings open.

One of the most calming things for me is being organized. And, seeing clean surfaces. I often get distracted when things aren’t as they need to be…and I have to stop and address it.

Love your containers. It allows for organization without tedious arranging.

I’m feeling the urge to organize!!!
xoxo Elizabeth

When we moved to Savannah I feared the Winters up North would start to be mild and I would wonder why we decided to move. Well from all reports, I left at the right time. You’ve had plenty of WINTER! Your Organization looks great – of course! I use the clear, heavy plexiglass lipstick holders and a matching holder for the make up brushes and pencils.. I need to see the bottom labels and hate rummaging. My daughter gave me a wonderful monogrammed zippered bag which I use for my hair brushes. I try to keep everything organized in the drawers and this is only possible because I PURGED at the unnecessary products that I don’t use often enough to warrant space in the drawers! I love your perfume holder – Chanel no. 5 forever!
I wonder if you will tell us where you found the lovely fire screen that is pictured in this post? Love it!

Honestly, I cannot believe it is still snowing in your part of the world! Tina, as I type this I’m looking out the breakfast nook window, the sun is shining, the sky is blue and our magnolia tree is blooming – I say this not to taunt you but to assure you that spring is out there and must be on it’s way to you soon!

Love your clever organizing project! I tend to keep vanities and dressing tables pretty clear – it’s what’s going on in the drawers and cabinets that is pretty scary. Need to contain that mess. You’ve given me some great ideas.

Have a lovely week, Tina! Crossing fingers that the spring finds you soon! XOXO
