I am so excited to show you my BEAUTIFUL dining room drapes. They are exactly as I had dreamed they would be. I wanted a simple elegant panel that resembles a silk ballroom skirt with a beautiful trim to pick up the soft blue in the rug. I chose a gorgeous silk dupioni from Beacon Hill fabrics in the color, Snow and had long ago fallen in love with my beautiful trim from the incomparable Samuel and Sons…..no one makes trims like they do!

Once I had my stunning handpainted paper murals from Paul Montgomery installed, I  knew that the drapes were the only thing missing. So it definitely motivated me to make it a priority which I finally did:)

I also ordered gorgeous gold leaf pole and finials from a company that will be carried on my new site….they make the beautiful solid wood drapery hardware, very elegant. So though it took a while for me to get this together, it finally happened. I waited anxiously for the drapes to come back from my local workroom that I have worked with for years….and day of installation watching it all come togehter, made me question why I had waited so long!!

These pictures will speak for themselves….(used my Nikon for these pics, the occasion called for it:)

Yes the silk color and fabulous trim were spot on….phew! I am a fan of about a 3″ puddle on the floors, nothing worse than drapes that are too short!

I could not be any  happier with how they came out…it is exactly as I had envisioned and hoped. They are light and airy, yet formal and elegant without being too stuffy or over the top. I did not do “rings” because I did not need them to move and felt it would take away from the elegant simplicity. It is just “enough” but still allows my gorgeous chinoiserie murals to be the main star!

Thank for stopping by to take a look. Hope you have a wonderful day, and end to your week. Until next time…..

Stunning!! Dupioni wears really well, too! I made a shirred canopy and dust ruffle with a 25″ drop for my antique bed years ago and they are still holding up well.

Several weeks ago you had a post about rugs and named a great place to get them. Unfortunately, I’ve lost that name.
Could you e mail it tome? Thanks

Absolutely perfection! I live with a more laid back beach style, since our home is on a small island on the Atlantic coast. However, I really love the beauty of your home. So elegant and each element so beautiful in of itself, and then all put together so perfectly. Your new drapes are gorgeous. So airy looking and at the same time very rich, too. They really add to the overall beauty of your dining room. Would love to dine there! ?

Absolutely gorgeous!! The trim is so pretty! What a difference the drapes made and I loved the photos of your dining room before. The drapery hardware is stunning as well.

Lovely. However, as a window treatment designer and seamstress, I am curious why the trim was not mitered? Sadly, in my opinion, it looks clumsy.
Truly, I do not like to criticize, but I thought you may want to keep those details in mind as you work your way through your projects.

I luv, luv, luv your drapes with the gorgeous trim in your beautiful dining room. Exquisite!!!!

Absolutely Beautiful! The blue in the trim on your drapes does bring out the blue in your gorgeous rug! You have outdone yourself! Happy Friday!!

Tina, You are amazing. I wish you were my sister, mother, daughter…some relation so I could go to your house often. But drooling might be a problem. Your new draperies are gorgeous!

Stunning and just beautiful draperies! Love their elegance with your walls. Dream room I would label your dining room.

Tina, love your taste and style.Gorgeous trim but unfortunately not applied the right way.
As a owner of custom drapery workroom,I have to agree with previous comment. The trim at the corner should be mitered. Also, rod pocket panels installed on the pole should have button hole
return,so that would prevent gap by the bracket.
Everything in your house is so perfect and beautiful, please have your workroom to fix that.

Your new drapes are beautiful. When I first saw the picture of the room, without the drapes, I thought how wondeful to see the outdoors. But the drapes beautifully compliment the room. I wish I had your vision. You inspire me.

You totally nailed it Tina! I did custom draperies for 25 years, and this is one thing I know a lot about. I am in LOVE with the treatment you chose, and your fabric, trim and hardware. So simple and elegant!!

Stunning dining room. The drapes are beautiful and a combination of dupioni silk with a greek key trim is so elegant and timeless.
To miter or not miter seems to be the question for some of us…I too saw the trim was not mitered and think I would prefer mitered however I am no expert and did a google image search to see if there is a predominate approach. I was not able to determine if there is.
When it is all said and done, it is what makes YOU happy and you are clearly thrilled. What comes to mind when I see your dining room is effortless elegance (even though I know a lot of thought went into it). It is inviting and comfortable.
Thanks for sharing.
Fondly,
-Lisa

Absolutely lovely. They are stunning and you are right, not over the top. Like the crowning jewel to the room.

Fabulous room! Architecture, drapes, hardware, mural, carpet, and furniture are beautiful and timeless. The blue and white accessories are equally stunning. Love all of it.

All I can say is STUNNING! The before and after really shows the dramatic change to the room! Enjoy!!!! And thanks so much for sharing your resources.

Tina,

All I can say is “they look marvelous darling”. You home is just stunning. Wishing you a fabulous weekend.

Cheers,
Vickey

Wonderful choice of color. Your dining room looks so lovely and I do love the wallpaper.

Your draperies are beautiful, Tina. Love the trim and the finials…stunning! Definitely the pi?ce de r?sistance for an already gorgeous dining room! Happy weekend ~

When is this house going to be in House Beautiful?? I needs to be my friend its gorgeous! xo Have a great weekend, Karolyn

Dear Tina… two words: positively stunning. I did not think that room could get more beautiful and yet you took it up a few notches. Have a wonderful Sunday and as always I will look forward to my coffee and your Seven on Sunday.

When I saw the first “before” image, I thought “Oh no…the windows are perfect as they are!!!”….. but hen I saw the drapery. Oh. My. God. They are stunning and perfect and prove howe incredibly talented you are. I absolutely LOVE them.

Simply gorgeous drapes! And thank you for not using the rings! I recently ordered linen drapes with navy Greek key trim for my daughter’s tween bedroom makeover to hang on a simple antique brass finish rod, and was fretting my decision not to use rings because another blogger recently suggested that was an outdated look. Thank you for confirming that it is an elegant, traditional solution when you don’t need the panels to actually open and close!
